They might be revealed within the overall gw2 story eventually..
..or we might see them in a fractal dungeon.
Like many have said, they happen through natural play except for a few, and if you want to get them done quickly you can. What makes these dailies less grindy than other MMO dailies is that you’re not forced to the same area, to do the same exact tasks every day. I like them the way they are, but they’ll be changing in a week and a half so that you can choose which dailies to achieve. You can even do extra dailies for more achievement points.
We needed proof that DE’s were too easy? They’re not supposed to require much coordination (save a few high level DE’s in Orr) because anyone is supposed to able to jump in and complete them. I hear some of the upcoming guild missions are going to be difficult to beat, so there’s that.
I don’t sPvP much, but I get the impression that the game is only “deep” in sPvP. The reason I say this is that a good number of the traits and utility skills (I play guardian and necro) are very situational in PvE.
That being said I still love PvE and changing traits on the fly in dungeons, but I think I just got used to having three distinct subclasses per class like in other MMOs. I’m waiting for the day that the devs give us more weapon skills and allow us to move them around on the hot bar.
Funny how this thread won’t get deleted even though it’s not relevant to GW2 because it’s in praise.
It’s kinda relevant though.
Other MMOs outdated mechanics doesn’t cut it after i’ve played GW2. Not only is it a praise, but it is also a fact in my eyes! Kinda sad though, i have to wait for new MMOs to arrive before i try anything else.
(And yes, i can play several MMOs at once.)
Either that or no one’s working on the forums at ANet at this hour.
I have a million low level alts. And I don’t mind doing world completion more than once. Feel free to add me
No need to change servers with the Guesting feature.
Oh, and I was playing a Slayer. Hated not being able to run and attack at the same time :/
Yeah, I was annoyed at the gathering node and boss kill stealing. Not to mention waiting around for quest objectives and bosses to spawn. I really missed my Vistas, POIs, and SPs.
Dead zones? Change servers.
Dead dungeons? gw2lfg.com
Class balance? Can’t answer that. I play necro and guard and both get me through dungeons and pve.
If you dodge into a channelled attack (Arrow carts, flamethrowers, rapid fire shots) you’ll get multiple dodges in one go. Even if you have lag, those channeled abilities last for a few seconds.
We can assume that they’ll eventually add a new tier of gear in 2014. If content remains un-gated (You don’t need to run Arah 50 times to be able to do Fractals) i don’t see the issue. It’s only a slight issue in WvW.
With all the people complaining about being lied to and disrespected, you’d think they’d be gone by now.
It’s a tough question. I want to say no because there’s no gated gear grind to artificially lengthen your play time. And then I realized how silly it is to pay to have your content be gated.
The same as every other MMO minus the raiding.
I play SWTOR and TERA on the side. They’re both good games in their own right but man do I miss these gw2 features:
individual loot drops
individual gathering nodes
exploration activities such as Vistas and SPs
dynamic events of course
experience from crafting
moving while attacking
moving while channeling
dailies not being tied to an area or quest chain
multiple dungeon paths that give the same tokens
level scaling
dyes
melee auto attacks that do damage in an arc
EDIT:
collectibles tab
AH browsing from anywhere
teleports without long CDs
GW2 is far from perfect, but these things keep me playing.
Just keep adding variety to the tasks that are considered grindy. They do this with Dungeons and Fractals, by making it so that you don’t run the same exact paths/encounters each time.
They do this with dailies by changing up the daily each time.
Grinding for karma is somewhat like this, as you can do different events but I feel like most people are just farming Orr events.
Grinding for mats however is incredibly tedious and random (especially with the DR and poor drop rates). I’d love to see crafting mats as rewards from events or currencies (you can spend a Laurel for a bag of mats, but you’re limited by your dailies.)
I like their approach to dungeon grind and would like to see this system everywhere else.
It’d be cool if it had particle effects and glows that would activate alongside player abilities.
Sorry to hear you un-subbed. Oh wait.
One of the devs said that they’re going to have a blog post detailing the guild missions soon. I’m stoked for this, too. Hopefully this will repopulate low to mid level zones.
Getting the 30 laurels faster for your ammy/rings is needed if you’re WvWing, and encouraging WvW players to do dungeons does suck.
Otherwise if you’re just playing the open wold endgame, you don’t even need ascended gear for that to begin with.
Didn’t they make CoF p3 easier? That was my favorite CoF path.
TERA just went f2p, go try it out.
Then come back here when you get burned out on that
Both.
My server’s a bit dead, I have no problem finding groups but I miss the crowds of people in zones. There are plenty of servers that are still bustling but my friends are here, and 3 million sold or not I still have people to play with.
How is retuning considered new content? While all these things apart from the aoe nerfs seem positive, for the PVE player there doesn’t seem to be much on the horizon at all. I could care less about W v W or pvp leaderboards which very much seems to the focus on these upcoming updates. I care about PVE, environments, lore, new enemies and exploring maps and dungeons. So far and correct me if I’m wrong, but there has been ZERO mention about any actual unseen new content in this style as of yet. Maybe they are saving the best till last Idk..but so far, I remain apathetic about what I’ve read.
Collin mentioned there will be no new zones a few weeks back. The livestream mentioned retuning Orr. Retuning the way Orr events play still consists of adding new elements. They’re also adding new DE’s in the form of guild missions. They also mentioned that the new achievements will be tied to new content in the form of (im assuming) dynamic events and other open world activities.
I don’t know, there’s no reason to play the open world game right now. “New” content or not, having a reason to go out in the open sounds good to me.
There will be new content. New rewards and new events in the form of guild missions. New WvW abilities and rewards.
Supplementing the current game with a number of features will count as an expansion’s -worth- of content if there are going to be plenty. With the culling fix, guesting, achievement rewards, wvw progression, dungeon retuning, Orr retuning, guild events, further guild progression, custom arenas, leaderboards, that seems to be the case.
I’d rather have a reason to play the current game than forget it all in favor of new zones/dungeons.
Still out.
It seems the much needed changes to fractals (unable to reconnect) are being pushed back to ‘sometime in the first half of the year’.
No mention of any half decent armour skins? I’m really fed up of just hanging on hoping the next patch will stop the game looking so generic and boring.
You have a pretty solid combat system but there is just nothing to back it up!
Pretty sure the fractal improvements are coming at the end of January.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/fractals-of-the-mists-dungeon-improvements/
“We plan to ship these two features at the end of January.”
I’m glad to hear they’re adding more events as I really enjoy those. However.. honestly, the game zones already have a ton of events.. the problem is most of them break down and cease functioning after running for a day or so. Unfortunately, then we don’t see them again until the server is reset. And the end result is that the zones appear to have almost no active events.
Without fixing that core problem (which has plagued this game since launch), what is the point of adding more events that will be doomed to the same fate? I really hope they commit to fixing that bug before adding any more event content to the game.
I think it’s assumed that they’re going to work no those bug fixes, they have been all ready. But when they say they’ll add more events, I don’t think they mean adding them along side the current ones, but rotating out old ones in favor of new ones. So you won’t notice more events in terms of frequency, rather you’ll see more variety. That’s my speculation anyway.
Guys, these are not patch notes, every single thing they plan to fix is not going to be listed until those updates start rolling out.
No, but still you would have expected them to adress the most prominent problems facing them and the players, in game to current date. If you do not have a solid foundation to build from, the risk of an unsound structure rises exponential.
Open world events not being rewarded enough? He addressed that.
I’m not talking just DE’s here, but too of loot, DR’s………he made no comment or remark about that at all. Wouldn’t you say that is a current and imminent problem that needs to be fixed, more so adressed?
Not disagreeing with you there, but DR and DE’s fall under his talk of making different activities in the game more rewarding I am cautious though because of the achievement token system, i feel like they’re just going leave the DR’s alone as it is, but I’m speculating.
Problem is that this is tied in to the gem shop. In that if you keep the DR on needed drops low (as it is now), you’ll then need to go on the TP to get the said mats that you’ll need for crafting. But lacking enough funds for them (a sit’s hard to make money ingame in the first place), you’ll have to turn to the gems for real money option, to buy the needed mats out.
All in all, you keep a hungry and starved market which is in constant demand, with only one way as a means to get what you need…..
It is a kitten to make money in the open world unless you’re farming Orr DE’s, but I’d had no problems making money to buy mats because I run a lot of dungeons. T6 fine mats are still a little rare to get, but doing a quick AC run will net you about half a gold (25 ish silver for the end reward, 5s a piece for the graveling silvers, then the loot drops). Doing dungeons is a good money maker, and with this new post I’m really hoping that they make open world events get you decent money as well.
“Our reward systems need to be exciting, and include things you want to earn over time, but we don’t want to force our players on endless gear treadmills for new tiers of gear we add every 6 months. You won’t see another tier between ascended and legendary in 2013 for example.”
So as long as they wait to add new tiers, it’s not a treadmill. All this did was ensure there will be continued kittening on the forums as they left so much open to interpretation. Fans of Vertical Progression will be all like SEE ITS NOT A TREADMILL! Fans of Horizontal Progression will see this as evasive wording that hints at 2013 being the year of Ascended Item rollout, then an end of year announcement that there is an exciting NEW TIER of gear coming in 2014.
It would have been really easy to just say we don’t like treadmills, we won’t be releasing new tiers of gear. The fact that they felt the need to give themselves wiggle room on that subject makes me very unhappy.
They have stated that they embrace both vertical and horizontal progression, with talks about ascended gear, upgrades, and a level cap increase. This will kitten people from both sides, I’m sure, but as long as the gear gating isn’t severe I’m all for it.
I’m sort of happy about the way Ascended is being handled now (excluding WvW). You’re not locked out from anything, but if you choose to delve deeper into fractals for more progression, it’s there.

About nothing.
That post was so full of cliché, it says absolutely nothing.
No real bullet points with this or that, just text, text, text, it’s an amazing year, text, text, we are so happy, text, text, we believe in… , text.
I expect nothing major.
Exactly, im surprised so many people are falling for this obvious PR stunt. There was no new information in this video, just lots of talk.
This blogpost has just made loose all hope in this game.
It IS a PR move, not a patch note list, but why is that a bad thing. Like I said I’m not getting my hopes up, but he did shine light on some new features we haven’t yet heard of.
“We’ll add tokens for your achievement you can turn in to select from a list of rewards, including new reward types like ascended gear and infusions. "
“To that end, we’re working on adding new types of content to the game in early 2013 that will allow guilds to go on missions together. "
I know people are skeptical, and we’re allowed to be, but… Endless Cat Tonics!
I’m not setting my expectations too high, but I can’t help but geek out about achievement related reward tokens. !!! What are you guys excited about?
Move on already
A lot of folks are doing just that. Moving on to other games, moving on back to WoW, moving on back to GW1… So yea, sound advice but many have already taken it
Explains why the forums are a lot quieter.
roll back*
not a server problem.
15 chars.
Nothing wrong with promoting their own game, they put these promotions where most people can see them. All that’s happening is you’re being slightly inconvenienced, they’re not forcing you to buy anything. At least these ads don’t pop up in game (I know they’re in the launcher.)
Because you wouldn’t run fractals if it didn’t.
Because gear progression retains players and appeals to the mass audience. :/
At the moment, however, you’re not locked out of any playable content without Ascended gear. But I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t have ran fractals 230+ times if there weren’t shinies.
Ori ore and Ancient wood reset during the daily server reset.
GW2 posters sure love poems
Gather ori and ancient wood.
But yes, AC/CoF speed runs are a good way to make money.
Farming CS events are another way.
I do not have any lag
maybe your Internet connection is unstable
because talking with many people who agree with you is proof that something’s wrong.
Been making alts.
When I get on my main though I work on world completion, dungeons, temple runs, and orr farming.
When I need a break from that I do jump puzzles, wvw, fight dragons, or just visit old areas and do DE’s.
Haven’t touched sPvP yet because PvE is distracting.
I’d love to see raids. Raids don’t have to equate to gear gating and intense vertical progression. We have a very primitive version of them all ready in the game in the form of temple events and dragon encounters, they just require little to no thought to complete. We need encounters that require a large group of people to coordinate because there needs to be more incentive for guilds to group together.
You probably know this, but I’m making sure. You’re aware that you can buy rings from the vendor right?
Now play for another 1-2 months and do another review…
I think it might be a tad differentI look at things in business terms so I hope you don’t mind but I am going to use one to speak to your point. Personally I view this in the terms of ROI (return on investment) .
So way i see it I have already gotten $60 worth of “value” out of it just as if i had bought a stand alone RPG . I progressed though the story the same as i would have a standalone and as I have said before have only uncovered 32% of the map so there is still added replay “value” in that respect .
This investment also has added value in the terms of the other features associated wvw crafting etc.. as well as t he fact that I can make a new toon and try out the order and pirory quest lines that is additional “profit” in the terms of entertainment value.
So to use the ROI I have already got my investment back anything else is “profit” .
So to speak on your point whether your right or not is irrelevant at this point because ****even if you are I haven’t “lost” anything *in fact this particular endeavor *has resulted in a "profit"** of play value at least in my opinion but by your post our opinions may differ.
Not to mention that huge content patches are coming within the next 1 or 2 months which will further add “profit”. So yeah, I also challenge you to review this game in the next two months, it’ll be a much better game then.
