I don’t understand what the issue is. People are running into DR. DR exists. Why do we need proof of it?
There’s WvW, and sPvP. Dungeons start at level 30, but there is no dungeon finder.
Might want to transfer to a better PvE server until ANet revamps the open world.
Do everything.
Gather. Craft. Renowned hearts. Dynamic Events. Revive NPCs and Allies. Activate Vistas, POIs, Skill Points.
You’ll get sooo much exp.
Honestly, I’d rather have elitism than be in groups that wipe all the time.
You can avoid elitism. You can’t avoid being in a bad group without the right information.
The January update is still a ways away. I’d hold off in saying that the other dungeons won’t get any improvements until at least a week before the update.
Not sure how removing fractal levels makes sense, the point of fractals is the difficulty and loot scaling. And everything in this game is grindy in some way, not sure what you want at this point.
I think we have the same issue right now with the inability to see people’s AR. Your concern is much more severe of course, but I’ve joined plenty of groups that are inexperienced from 15-20. Will it get worse with the new change? Imo, I don’t think we’ll even notice.
The solo open world game is lacking at the moment because of the new dungeon and all the wintersday stuff. Other than getting your dailies done, another surefire way to get a decent karma amount is to run fast dungeon. (AC or CoF).
You mean like the lost shores update we just had?
But it doesn’t count because no one wants a new tier of gear, a grindy dungeon, a new sPvP map, and zone that no one goes to.
-_-
New winter clothes in the gem store.
Tons of wintersday mini pets and weapon skins.
You’ve seen everything Fractals has to offer in terms of playable content within the first ten levels, in which you don’t need agony resistance. The only difference between level 1-10 and above are “very slight” additions in boss mechanics.
actually the loot gets much better, you earn alot of money from doing lvl 40 fractals (which is generally impossible without Revive Orbs from the gemstore) and above.
so yes you are missing out, no different than trying to complete old WoW content without the neccasary Resistance to survive.
Right, but I’m talking about getting locked out of playable content and gear gating. That doesn’t happen in GW2 as I stated with the example above. You’re talking about missing out on making more money.
in what way is GW2 different from these other games when they added Ascended Gear.
not to mention Anet hinted at them most likely raising the level cap in expansions.Content isn’t gated like in other games. You don’t need ascended gear to do anything in the game.
incorrect, Ascended Gear is the only way to get Agony Resistance, which is the only way to do higher levels of Fractals.
and again Anet have stated you will need this for future content they add to the game.

If you click on the Gear icon on the top right (below the X) there’s an option to show/hide bags.

Open world.
There are so many things that make open world exploring so much more fun and refreshing in this game.
it’s actually fun how all of you just /lol all at him when he is right about bugs and dungeons
same happened with swtor year back … everyone who posted complain got dismissed by fanboys and then look swtor is pay 2 win game right now!
I’m not sure swtor failed ONLY because of buggy dungeons. It had plenty of things that made it a sub par MMO.
I did not say ONLY ! point still stands fanboys here dismiss even most constructive feedback (not that this is one of them but) anet refuse to communicate even on largest topics here and I know that everyone who got game with me already stopped playing and I even log casually
now you may think so what? you already paid and that is not true many of us were spending 20 to 50 euro monthly on gems and if Anet will do nothing about current situation more people are going to leave that are going to buy game …
for me there is only 1 gamebreaking bug that anet refuse to acknowledge
but what I gather here or in game its all those small things that adds up …
You’re correlating his complaints with different problems that another game has. ANet has addressed the problem with dungeons. They’re working on an LFG system, they’re looking to change how we group for fractals in terms of how the different levels will be accessible, and they’re revamping ALL of the previous dungeons. All of these fixes address his complaints. This thread isn’t going to make these problems get fixed faster which is why the OP is getting flamed.

So uhh.. did i mention www.gw2spidy.com to check your profits on a per item basis? When i checked about a day ago, the most profitable exotic weapon gets you 80s profit if you buy all the mats. Mithril weapons can get you around 10s profit, but you can make them faster if you want to gather the mithril and wood.
You guys should check out gw2spidy.com. Under crafting, you’ll see the list of all craftable items and how much you can profit (or not) from them.
supposedly they’re full not because of the amount of people currently online, but the amount of accounts tied to the server.
Yes, and WoW’s 10 million customers are including trial and “free” accounts, as well as those that are past canceled and expired. Well, that one actually might be true…
But, no, the servers aren’t based on “accounts tied to them”, they are actually players playing the game at that time, of which there are a lot of them.

Last post is by a dev. The statement seems a little vague, and I don’t believe it’s necessarily true, but server status might not be entirely based on users actively online.
I asked Eva for clarification on that message, as it was fairly vague.
Here was her response.
First message says players online at that time, but then she corrects herself saying “players registered to that server”
Her reply is still as vague as her previous post, if not more so. Players registered to that server that are online(???)

The beauty of it is you don’t need the gem shop to be competitive or valid. One very useful item might be the black lion salvage kit to get ectos. But considering how expensive it is now you’re better off selling a rare and buying an ecto with it (assuming you sell the rare for the same price as a single ecto or more.)
Another argument against the gem shop are having to buy bank slots. But by the time you buy (or earn with tokens) your exotics, you’ll want nothing else to buy with your gold. If you want a to spend gold to get your legendary, well consider what’s more important, a bank slot (to fill what exactly, more armor sets that you don’t need at this point?) or an item that gives no performance advantage what so ever.
Everyone’s entitled to feel like they deserve all that a game has to offer, optional or not, but be thankful this isn’t a pay to win game.
supposedly they’re full not because of the amount of people currently online, but the amount of accounts tied to the server.
Combat – not having to target things to attack them (for the most part), dodge button, not having 30 abilities but only using 5 of them.
Gathering – instanced gathering nodes, earning exp for gathering.
Crafting – discovery, earning exp for crafting.
Dungeons – Having multiple paths/randomness of fractals. Makes grinding a little less grindy.
Temple Events(when they work), Dragons – These could be the replacement for raiding. They’re pretty simple/unrewarding atm, but there’s nothing like them.
Just run around the world doing events. Or you can do all the dungeon paths one after another. You can also do the JP’s and mini dungeons. 100% world completion isn’t grindy if you like exploring.
A lot of times I go into lower zones naked. Keeps fights fresh and challenging.
I’d just like to point out that the server status display is under Arenanet’s control.
Anyone remembers what happened to AoC server status display?
How do you know that?
How do I know what? If you’re talking about Arenanet controlling it, well duh… it’s their code which shows server status so they can change it whenever and however they want.
If you’re talking about AoC: almost immediately after launch the server display was altered to permanently show “medium load” on all their servers, which is still true to this day. You don’t need to believe me, just check for yourself and/or ask anyone who ever played the game.
Why would they do that though? Just to make us feel like the game is fuller than it is? Would a large amount of players suddenly stop playing if they see that a server’s at Medium capacity than Full? Seems like a stretch.
Found this on a website, guess it answers your question
Severs pop status is calculated based on accounts per server, not people playing.
Why does it fluctuate at different times during the day? I’m not being defensive, I really want to know.
I’d just like to point out that the server status display is under Arenanet’s control.

Hm, I’m in Isle of Janthir, maybe a ton of us transferred over
It’s really hard to tell without having access to the data.
Some people say that zones seem emptier than before because most people are running fractals. But then people claim that it’s difficult to find a fractal group.
The server select screen shows high to full capacity, but some will argue that that’s not indicative of how many players are actually playing. No one (except for a dev) can give you an answer with conclusive evidence, prove me if I’m wrong.
I’m a Guardian, when I’m in Orr I change all my utilities to condition removal and stability. I just run past everything with swiftness and I don’t ever get to a point where I get frustrated. Do other classes have as much condi removal as Guardians?
new structured PvP map.
paid tournaments in sPvP where you can win gems.
removed orbs from WvW
new culling fix you can use
new lvl 80 dungeon called fractals. A series of mini dungeons that gets tougher the more you do it.
new gear tier for PvE – only necessary for higher level fractal runs.
new lvl 80 zone. – T6 nodes, new crafting materials.
If i recall they added a few armor skins and weapon skins in the lost shores patch.
How obtainable did you find them to be?
The shoulder skins were in every consortium chest.
The rare weapon skins were very rare to get, but you can get them on the TP for about 1-3g.
If i recall they added a few armor skins and weapon skins in the lost shores patch.

I know this game was for people who didn’t want the treadmill, but at this point in time this game now appeals to both sides of the argument. I don’t see anything wrong with a game that’s truly for everyone.
Considering that the two playing styles are antagonistic to each other (or rather, that treadmill gamestyle is actively antagonistic to casual one), it’s simply not possible.
The game must be either designed for exotic armor, or for ascended one – that means not only all future content, but also such things as drops (remember, Ascended full set will have significantly better MF value – if content will be designed with it in mind, then everyone else will be hit by drop reduction). Will the future content include infuse-based mechanics (similar to agony) or not. Will the drop distribution between old and new content (seeing as the new content is gear-gated) will follow current path of “give new content good drops, nerf everything else” etc etc.The existence/non existence of gear treadmill influences whole game design and affecte every part of the game. Even if the difference in stats may seem to be relatively small at the beginning.
I’m not worrying about future content until the future.
As of now, the hardcore can run fractals past 10 and get rewarded, and the casuals can still play the game as they’ve always played it, with a new zone and the first 10 levels of the new dungeon. Both coexist.
Fractals is fun to run over and over because its new and designed better than the other dungeons. It can also be very rewarding. Unless you plan on WvW-ing, the new gear tier isn’t required to run it, or be efficient at anything else in the game. But the shinies are there for those who want it.
The beauty of it is you don’t need it to do 95% of PvE content. You can still run Fractals without the ascended gear, and by the time you reach level 10, you’ll have experienced what Fractals has to offer.
It might be an issue for WvW, but it’s pretty hard to tell if someone has ascended gear from inside a zerg anyway.
I know this game was for people who didn’t want the treadmill, but at this point in time this game now appeals to both sides of the argument. I don’t see anything wrong with a game that’s truly for everyone.
You can buy expansion slots for your bags and bank with gems.
I dont care if you like it or not. It wont go away so get use to it.
ANet on Ascended gear.
Dear Dev’s
250 Claws of jormag (reward for killing jormag, account bound)
Correction. This would be the Claws of the Claw of Jormag. You don’t kill Jormag, Jormag isn’t in the game.
Carry on.
Playing a lot more, I want my pinks.
Joined 2 Fractal guilds and I’m using gw2lfg.com. Haven’t had a problem finding a group within 10-15 minutes. If I don’t find one, I just do some more exploring and crafting to make money. I also help people in lower Fractals since I’ve still yet to infuse my ascended ring.
They added more endgame progression, which is all the fuss these days.
You don’t need the new gear to do the new dungeon. By the time you get deep enough in it to need Ascended gear, you’d have seen all the mini dungeons it contains.
It might be an issue with WvW, but the way i see it if you’re in a zerg, having a few people in it with ascended gear won’t really matter. I don’t play WvW much.
Other than the new dungeon, there’s a new small lvl 80 zone with new DE’s and JP’s. Current dungeon rewards have been improved, bosses drop karma, a few tokens, and a few silver. Rare/exotics drops have been increased across the board. Now’s a pretty good time to jump back in.
Another fan-boy that doesn’t get it. /lesigh
Some of your complaints make sense, but the overall message is conflicted.
Basically, fan-boy, the other games were all FUN games that had good ground work for their game. It doesn’t matter if its an RTS or RPG, the point is they narrowed the focus of their game down to make it fun, interesting, and simple. This game just throws stuff at you in a big mix hoping something will catch your attention.
League of Legends and DOTA throw a big mix of RTS and RPG. If you make someone who’s never played an action RTS game in front of DOTA 2, they wouldn’t immediately understand basic mechanics such as last hitting, courier and item management, and learning how to engage properly. All of which are necessary to succeed and enjoy the game. The mechanics are not simple, but it’s still a blast, which is why your reference to this genre makes no sense.
PvE – Dungeons all over the world map, k awesome, but where’s the cross-server dungeon finder so I can dungeon with people 24/7. Not everyone’s on at 5pm, sorry bros. Also making 2 different dungeon modes was silly. I probably already stated that though.
Finding a group for dungeons is slightly inconvenient, okay. Not sure why you commented about the world map, you can teleport to a dungeon instantly. I’m still not sure what this has to do with simplicity or functionaitiy.
PvP – See above post. Also, WvW ranged class dominate with little room for melee. As well honour badges are a joke to try and get. In other PvP modes you basically can’t do much as an individual cuz its zerg fest and your health pool is “meh”. As well there are no diminishing returns on stuns/daze/knockdown for some stupid reason. I guess they figured we’d enjoy being bounced around all day. Good PvP games make it a bit like chess, this game made it rock, paper, puke-on-screen.
WvW is a mess, yup. Still don’t know why it isn’t simple or functional.
As well, for a game wanting to target “casual play”, they did a bang up job with the sPvP and tPvP. sPvP you basically just go for kills instead of defending/holding points as long as you can. There have been a ton of posts on this and no fix for it in sight. In tPvP you basically go up against pro teams with your “casual”, single que team. GG
I was general about the whole thing cuz there’s a huge list of issues with this game and the only thing its got going for it is that it LOOKS COOL.
Again, you have a list of complaints that make sense, but they have nothing to do with lack of simplicity or functionality. You even mentioned that sPvP was pro “casual play”, implying that it’s simple enough to pick up and play.
The game is functional. You kill things and participate in events, you get exp, you gain levels. You loot corpses, you get items. You kill players, you take control points, you are scored. The game “functions” and the things I listed are “simple” concepts to grasp. Whether or not the elements in the game form a fun experience have nothing to do with simplicity or functionality.
You listed a bunch of things in the PvE side of things, but you didn’t really explain why this game isn’t simplistic or functional. You walk up to an NPC with the stack of coins for a symbol, right click or hit F, a list of items appears, you select an item to buy. Not sure how that’s neither simple or functional.
Your PvP complaints aren’t about your topic either.
Also, it’s funny that you mentioned action RTS’s in your list of games, seeing as the genre is hard to pick up and play,
Old runes and sigils risk to become useless as well.
How’s that? The new Ascended gear won’t have rune/sigil slots.
I’m curious. What extra money are you spending on this game and why? I like the ascended stuff but I won’t spend real money on the game, I never have.
The new content patch is introducing a new type of gear tier and upgrades. Whether or not it’s a gear progression system is still unknown.
