It is swiss style, that is correct. Certainly worlds might get matched up against one another more than once, but the nature of the matchmaking is going to minimize that, especially in conjunction with the 4 week timeframe.

What Devon said was that we might get matched against a server whom we already faced. For eg. We faced DB in week 1 and in week 3.

No where Devon said that the whole match will repeat which stands by the original point they made in the blog post that every match will he unique.

not really because the tournament is using Swiss style system, more or less like in season 2 but with different weighting/point for 1st,2nd and 3rd place for every match up. this season the tournament is using 5-3-2 point system….

Yep, I know that but again I am a bit confused about their vague statements they make. They definitely said a server can face another server twice/thrice in the tournament but perplexed about whether we can have the exact same match once again… (Eg. YB/DB/CD in week 4)

Server being full has nothing to do with WvW. It’s EVERYONE. It has more to do with allocating server resources than anything else.

l2 get your PvE population into WvW like Yaks Bend does and you’ll do just fine.

Yeah but now with megaservers its difficult. I hope Anet changes the cities or atleast LA to be exempted from this megaserver thing and each server having its own instance.

I don’t know about other servers (since I have never been in another one) but on YB we defend the keeps with TONS of siege we take unless its an easy matchup (like the current one for us).

What I gathered is that you can face the same server again but not the same matchup again.

For eg. In NA silver we already faced DB and CD together in a match. In another week we may face one of the servers again but not both of them together.

There are WvW guilds like FoW, LOOT, POV, TC, PAL, etc. Usually they all have a recruitment thread on yaks-bend.com (except FoW). Just contact them via forum or ingame to get an invitation.

Oooookay, its easy to see the usual B.S. people post to explain why they lose. It can’t be theirs of course. I do know that playing smart will beat mindless. I read some guy insist that a 5 man sieged equiped keep can’t be held against 70 zerg. Maybe, maybe not. I can testify that one of my guildies in YB held off a 30+ zerg w/ 6 golems BY HERSELF. Yepper, she had an AC and a treb. They died. (you wanna say I lie? I will give your name to her. She will chew you a new one) YB wins cause we play smart. We learn and teach what we learn to the rest of our server. I will not say a high pop isn’t an advantage. Even then you can make them bleed. and get bags at your feet while using a siege engine. In other words guys learn to use the weapons you have and NEVER give up anything without a fight! Good Luck on your season.

Maybe they’ll realize Swiss Style doesn’t work for WvW in Season 4. Maybe they’ll realize imbalance isn’t fun. Maybe they’ll realize having transfer costs based on PvE population doesn’t make sense.

There’s a small sliver of hope with the invite a dev thing. But then they’re all probably playing on BG or SFR or YB.

YB got only 1 dev AFAIK, that’s it. Dunno why you implied all devs play on YB.
Also, I am on YB since release and maybe once I saw a dev over here…..so I have no idea why you included us in that list.

It’s the players pulling overtime that they ALWAYS do during season, so its not surprising. In addition to that we have lots of PvE’ers influx during season as well.

If you think we received lots of guilds just before season then you’re wrong. We always perform better during season than during off season.

Few things going for YB are the general care of siege and fortifications. They have players dedicated to maintaining siege and actively promote it. The second is a ridiculously positive laid back attitude. Most calm TS I have ever been on bar none. Even map chat is really tame even when pressured. I will also give them strong props for organization. Their commanders talk to each other and coordinate. Lastly they play for points. While they do blob they actively try to run multiple blobs to keep objectives flipped and coordinate those flips with the counter. The side effect is a lot of zerg wipes since DB/CD forms a single mega-blob on a map.

The downside… player for player YB has a weak zerg. Lots of uplevels and soft builds in here. There are some solid groups but the YB zerg would get crushed by an FA/Mag zerg of equal or even lessor size. Different focus though… T2 for a long time was about open field fighting and it showed.

All-in-all a pleasant place to hang my hat until T1 opens up. Certainly great TS conversations to be had and nobody jumps down someone elses crap for losing something.

Friend, I’m just quoting the many YB from the PvF forums who said they have no desire whatsoever to go to Gold. And citing the fact that many within FA and SoS have stated that YB’s bunker play style is not welcome in T2, myself included.

YB is still a very bunker / ppt oriented server, perhaps more so than any other server on the ladder, but they do have some guilds that come out and fight. I have no idea what’s been going on with SoS’s seemingly daily 600+ overnight tick, but maybe a bunker server is what’s needed to stop the PvD express.

Not that I would selfishly want YB out of our tier area or anything.

We don’t have enough number of people online during OCX to hold against 20 times our number no matter how much siege we use. Unless we receive HUGE (Yes, huge) number of guilds, its impossible for us to be in T2. Hell, we are probably the least populated T3 server.

CD has been trying hard all day dropping 5 guild catas for paper towers, lolz… then not even retaining them for the tick.

I think there is exaggeration or misinformation here. I’ve never seen any CD group drop 5 catas on a paper tower. It’s possible some random guild group is doing that but it’s not the core group of WvW players in CD.

Was no exaggeration on my part. Today, I literally saw 5x guild catas at QL and Durios which were taken and re-capped by us without a tick even passing. I honestly just struggled to understand the mentality of whoever was commanding because it literally was a pure waste of resources for no points gain. If CD are pushing for T2, some would do well to understand some basic mechanics a bit better first. :P

If it wasn’t any of the core people, fair enough. Was just rather amusing to see.

Nobody is complaining. CD said they’re taking it easy and yet they’re trying to PPT hard i.e. trying to take structures as quickly as possible. That was the context of us mentioning about 5 guild catas.

We papered DRBL and held the day yesterday for more than 10 hours and then during SEA you backcapped their stuffs when our population is obviously less than CD. And using 4-5 guild catas for paper towers? Trying too hard to ppt? lol

Unless we are moved to Gold next week (please no!!) I would love how this silver league would turn out to be this season considering there are atleast 5 very even servers.

Right now Mag rating is lower then the old CD rating. If CD stop losing rating, and mag keep bleeding rating like that, they might be able to still evade gold.

Not necessarily. If we get to T2 next week (most likely) we are gonna get destroyed and will be back to T3

1) There is no way to prove that a ser er is tanking. So banning without evidence is not something Anet will do.
2) Even if you look at the result, they may say that they are taking a break. You can’t prove otherwise.
3) You can’t force people/guilds to WvW. It’s completely upto them.
