I have a stack just in case one day for glitch or otherwise they become saleable on the TP and I can cash in on those outright crazy buy orders.
I’m almost thinking some of them have to be from accounts nobody is playing because who in their right mind wouldn’t cancel the listing and get their money back?
This is starting to stink like Warhammer Online.
The concept of the game was presented to us as PVP game with cool lore/story and PVE content as an intro/after thought.
Now after playing for 3 months you want to change that?
Imagine buying Call of Duty and opening it up, playing multiplayer, and then after 3 months the devs say, oh btw The guns you have aren’t good enough, so unless you play the campaign about 10 times you won’t be competitive?
You’d feel cheated right?
For the record I did level and gear a character to 20 in about 3 weeks in GW1, but I didn’t start at launch and I had a lot of PvE to do in the skill department.
So if you want to suggest there was a “skill” grind, I guess that might be true.
I used to craft in Black Citadel because it has the least ambiance (people talking about the same crap over and over) but Metrica or Ebonhawke is closer.
Anyone else out there like me and figure you’ll have a legendary after about 1 1/2 to 2 years of game play, and you’re OK with that? Because I am. As it stands my opinion is a legendary is a symbols of a player’s dedication to GW. If you love GW and that’s all you play, here’s your legendary. If not, no legendary for you.
Pretty much, when I have 150M karma or whatever it takes and I still want it, then I’ll go get it. I don’t need to farm 10k/hr 10k per day will do.
They aren’t if you go with the player crafted ones. 1-2g each.
And anyone with a console is playing either AC3, Halo or CoD?
If lodestones spiked, then it means the prices of the precursor were correct in regards to demand. Sometimes I wish people would realize “it costs 400-600g” spend it in gold or time, but you are going to spend it.
“sunk lots of money” = Gambled at the forge right?
The only thing I think Anet should have done is left off that big gaping hole in the character select screen that reminds the 95% they will never fill it.
If it was out of sight out of mind, most wouldn’t be here complaining.
The rise in crafting mats has nothing to do with Nov 15 update (unless you think people are hoarding ectos).
It DOES have to do with massive bot bans that were keeping the prices too low in Anet’s mind.
I noticed they weren’t moving. I guess it makes sense why the zone is dead. I have a 74 thief. I was hoping to run those chains and finish her out. Now it looks like I’m farming hearts in Frostgorge or the Flame Legion zone.
Is there a limit on number of mats that can appear in the crafting pane?

I tried it again this morning and had no issue. I’m guessing either they fixed this, or it happens when you have too many other intermediate items in your bags.
To be honest I hadn’t tried this since before Halloween when I did cooking.

I’d be Glad to see more armor skin in the Game … And Pls Add some More Girly Armor Skin Like a Princess Dress or Something like that PLS THANX
This would cover too much. Anet can’t allow that. Women in this game need to be next to naked.
I think some people made that armor thinking they could profit but because the mystic forge spits out so many exotics they relist it at a loss. That’s the only explanation I can think of because some of these exotics are priced nearly 1g below mat cost.
Yet they restrict bank slots to 8?
The big issue as pointed out in the crafting forum is the other mats that go into these skins are just dumb. Some of them take 3-5x the gear they are modeled on and it looks like candy corn was tacked on after the fact.
All classes are done to death because RPG games have covered them all. We only rarely see new ones but they are sort of variants of more well known classes. Despite this, I quite like these sort of threads so here are 2 suggestions.
- Pit Fighter. A savage, berserk type capable of duel wielding a mixture of weapons for lethal savagery or using a 2 hander putting more force into each blow than actually needed. Lot’s of brute force abilities and very little finesse. Also uses a form of combat drugs to boost his/her performance in battle. They might act like temporary stat boosters or HP regen but definetly damage boosting.
- Harlequin. Light weight, agile as a dancer, precision of a fencer who uses a mix of offensive and defensive abilities as they cut through their opponents with dual swords. Lot’s of dodging about cutting at their opponent weakening it down until finally delivering the death blow. Not very resistant to damage but highly skilled at avoiding it in the first place. Lot’s of special equipment (abilities) that keep their weapons sleek and sharp. Can combine their swords to form one good sword that is extra defensive.
There have been a zillion RPG’s just about every base has been covered. This doesn’t mean we can’t have more.
Personally I’m ok with where they are at. I’d like to see more class balance with the 8 before we move on.
Also the two you suggested are in DAOC as the Berzerker and the Blademaster respectively.
Frostgorge Sound.
The Karma isn’t as high though, but the events are kind of off the beaten path.
“guys, watch out for the Necro, kill him first!”
Actually NPC necros seem to not have the cooldowns that regular necros have. I’ve had many a bad pug wipe to the necros in AC.
Of course those are modeled after the necros in GW1 which were one of the most OP classes, so take that for what you will.
You don’t need a gear treadmill to enjoy the story. If I recall correctly GW1 scaled you to level as well (since every non town area was instanced).
I bought 1 suit of armor, and only got a second one when the HoM was set up and rewards for GW2 were announced.
Trust me in this, if I ever need an excuse to not go back to WoW (and I don’t really it’s been 3 years) it will be those 10-15 levels I don’t want to grind in my worthless gear that was top of the line when I left.
Crafters nearly always get marginalized by gear creep.
Send it first, let them rune it up.
The shifting markets always allow smart players to exploit inefficiency.
I’ve stated before that I would rather these mini games be around learning the patterns rather than making the items, or if you did have a quality rating I know of a game that had you do mini quests to get a tool that would let you alter the rating.

I suspect it’s working as intended; you won’t see all the mats all the time.
- Some mats only show in discovery after reaching a certain rank.
- Mats stop showing in discovery when you’ve learned all the relevant recipes.
- They don’t always show in the expected order.
Can you describe your character’s current chef rank and which items aren’t appearing? I probably have a toon I can compare.
Why can’t you accept that its a bug?
I’m 400 skill. The wiki has a recipe for a Mixed Berry Pie Filling. It claims Blueberry Pie Filling as a base. I can put the other 3 items in the craft window but not the pie filling because I don’t see it. They say 1 known recipe with the other 3 berries.
This is a great summary of why there are so many candy corn on the market. This item should have been the same, or slightly worse than a regular item and not required the 3 refined gems.
Basically the corn should have subbed in for something and the stats adjusted accordingly.
There are two sides of this market. You’re complaining that Anet isn’t competitive because their gold isn’t cheep enough.
The people buying gems are complaining they aren’t getting enough for their gold because illegal gold buyers have inflated the gem prices (meaning you get more for your legit gem sale).
The hood/mask ninja looking one is from CoE, got that in the bank
Unless you want a good laugh or are 13 do NOT get this helm on a char. It looks rather… “uncut” shall we say.
I run this as a dungeon build and melee love me.
Full exotic cleric. Bombs away.
For PvP you better be ready to do some shenanigins if you expect to do anything except wait for your friends to arrive.
The most expensive crafts are Weaponcraft, Huntsman and Tailor.
The cheapest are Artificer, Chef, and Jeweler.
LW and Armorsmith are kind of in the middle.
The nice thing about most professions is that there are normally at least one of wood/ore that you don’t use so you can sell it and buy what you need. Huntsman and Weaponsmith both use copious amounts of both. I was doing weaponsmith tonight and it’s about 250-350 ore per tier (depending on how many ingots per bar).
In just about every case it was cheaper/easier to buy insignia/inscriptions than to make them, so sell the fine mats, sell the extra ore/wood.
Learning the pattern and the market aspect makes it easy to skill up.
I got 30 kills the other night and only saw a few of them. I’m guessing they hadn’t rendered me yet before they ran into my bombs either.
I <3 bombing empty air and getting world invader kills. /sarcasm.
When they fix this I won’t have any more complaints (except a little lag that I can likely fix with lower settings).
Ya I played with it today. I threw all my gold in the bank and it went up to that amount. Makes sense now. Thanks.
Does this mean coins put in and coins taken out, because I have more $$ in my vault than ever now and the accumulated coins seem higher than whats in my bank.
if thats the case what’s to keep me from getting this title by putting 5g in and taking 5g out 40x ?
The end game for the target market is PvP of either sort. Other than being or holding the #1 ladder spot, there is nothing to grind to.
Honestly what are you grinding for? If its a legendary, what are you going to do after you get it, quit?
Bot Bannings. (Bots like to farm non aggro mobs like Moas)
Player Speculation and Hype.
Once you get a huge list the easiest thing to do is use the search bar and type “plank”
I have done this myself. Nothing like 30 something planks turned into worthless dowels.
Personally I think they should move them to crafting mats not refinement.
There aren’t chili peppers in bulk any more. Thus the post.
Adding some of these herbs to bags the way they adjusted butter/chocolate et would be good.
I don’t think anyone woudl cry about 2-3 vanilla or 2-3 chili peppers out of a T5 bag.
I’d keep track of the other materials it salvaged for also. I know a lot of people who will salvage Cloth/Metal/Wood but not Leather. Generally you’re getting another 20-80c of mats off each salvage too. You may see a pattern in weapons vs armor, or different types IE spears vs shields.
The real craft is buying items off the TP through buy orders and then selling them for more to people who have to have the item “now” rather than waiting for it to show up at their asking price.
Fine with me as long as you aren’t one of those losers who place a artificially low sell price to encourage people to sell to buys. The margins are too dang small for that on many items IMO.
Fortunately with the prices of high end mats rising I haven’t seen that much since people were more than willing to buy those 30-50 stacks and rip them for ectos.
I don’t know if they would allow it, but I’m sure there are non profits that handle these kinds of auctions.
Just make the set with the stuff you want and put Traveler’s Runes into it if you aren’t worried about looks.
If the profit for selling a crafted item is less than the profit for selling the mats then its not a profit.
Gathering to skill up is fine. Gathering to sell end game is not ok. If you do that, please just sell the mats to those of us who can make money crafting. We don’t like being undercut by your “its all profit to me” items.
I wonder about that “Full” tag sometimes. My server is one of the ones that’s always Full, but there are lots of zones I go to that are nearly empty. Yeah, the Orr zones are fairly crowded, but not enough to offset all the empty ones I see.
But there is a 3h queue for Eternal Battleground…
Almost positive there is a Mystic recipe for Rifles
1 Scroll
30 Mystic Coins
5 Orichalcum Rifle Barrels
5 Ancient Rifle Stock
That would at least get you on the board.
A problem is that even if you do that, it won’t stay profitable because all you need is 5-10 crafters competing with each other until everyone’s willing to undercut each other to break-even. Players pay for “time”. If it only takes a crafter 15 seconds to craft an item (even if it took them an hour to get the recipe beforehand), then eventually there will be enough players with that recipe that they’ll be competing with each other for sales.
Compete for sales? yes, but the demand for some items is high enough that there would be plenty to go around.
I craft stuff for a profit right now. If people are paying 7-8 silver above the cost of an ecto they aren’t buying it to rip it. Now maybe it goes into the bottomless forge, but that’s not my problem. If I can maintain my margins on these few items (30-40 i’ve found depending on the day) then surely if there were 1/4 the number of people able to craft it we wouldn’t have a hard time then either.
The skill in crafting comes from adding value. Time is a value, but so is effort in mastering your craft.
No, if it was a bubble people would sell into the market. That already happened when they first started rising. T5 mats got up around 40c each and then people dumped thier stashes and the prices went back down to 30c which was still double where they were the week before.
Once that stash was cleared out cheep because ectos never dipped the prices started spiking up again.
Metal has gone down because the prices of the other mats have gone up. Fewer people want to craft in this market.
If you only have 1.5g try farming more while you study the markets. In the 1-2 weeks of studying the markets you should have ideas and money to play with.
Pay attention to how much the things you are farming are selling for. Most people start in markets they are comfortable.
I know once i started seeing buying opportunities I really needed about 10g to not have the risk of all my money being tied up for several days.
make it drop from dragon’s raid chest only. people can work to get it rather than “chance”. this also increase number of people at dragon’s event
The number of people at lag and loot needs increasing? Nope.
More RNG? Nope.
Prices have stabilized. I know very few people who have everything else for their legendary other than a precursor.
May I just add 1 important thing here, hopefully John reads it. The very thing anet is trying to prevent the most in the economy (inflation/gold devaluation) is actually the very thing that has been accelerated, because the mass bot banning was not counteracted with increases in drop rates and decreases in loot DR.
The players still have the same amount of gold as 3 days ago, but now the prices for everything worth buying are 2-3x higher on average. So, we have only 33-50% of the buying power we had 3 days ago.
Needless to say, this is NOT GOOD for players who were saving money to buy stuff, this will set off a lot of alarms and cause a lot more players to give up trying to play the game because of your draconic, grind-oriented standards.
Rising prices have made me wealthier. At first it freaked me out, then when I realized the prices were here to stay and not just a spike I was able to see the dips clearer.
I’d much rather make 2-3g for my time spent than 1-2g.
I used to farm metal/wood because those were more limiting than the T5/T6 mats. If you noticed metal/wood have gone down and T5 mats have gone up 3-4×.
Bots never farmed metal/wood heavily.
There is no “outleveling” the content. Just go do your personal story when you are done crafting. The last character I leveled I crafted to keep up with my personal story.
