if you are talking about my clerics guardian build, i have to agree. im so tanky. nothing can kill me. it makes me run around totaly brainafk with great success.
arenanet definitely has to nerf clerics gear and force us to play more berserker, so monsters will be able to kill us actually.

It is strange how you keep opposing good DPS players to lame players that do anything else.
You know what I saw in your video that stucks me as incoherent : perma vigor.
DPS + perma vigor = possibility to void any damage in the game.Yes, if you do a false movement you are doomed, but this is true for any other build.
AS I said before, the problem is that you can do EVERYTHING by going the DPS route. Dodge, heal, boost, damage, control, …
This is what I talk about when saying there is no downside.

tbh with you, when i pug i dont care about the gear my teammates use. i play together with them and dont complain.
last time i joined a lfg group my group insisted to range lupicus. i told them i wont range and rather watch the fight then.
after 12 minutes lupicus still wasnt dead.
they used tanky gear, and they kept dying and dying, they were standing there like a rock when lupi did his lifeleech and so on.
i should have recorded a video of that fight.
what i want to tell you: its player skill that trivializes PvE content, not berserker gear.
if you want to play tanky-dps, go for it. but you have to live with that you are slower than 5 full berserker players who know what they are doing.
instead you will earn more room for error.
i played ah guard with soldier runes back when i wasnt experienced. and i can tell you, lupi doesnt die super fast, but you are able to eat bubbles like a boss and laugh in his face.

The thing is that the DPS which can be done is so high and unconditional that it completely nullifies mob mechanics, making mobs simple big HP pools to be depleted.
mobs in this game ARE simple big HP pools to be depleted with very few exceptions, berserker group or not.
and this is exactly where the problem begins.

but why are people trying to destroy my playstyle, when im not trying to destroy theirs?

Berzerker just needs to be capped at 60% bonus crit damage just like spvp.
The damage scaling is out of whack compared to all the other gear, and quite honestly this game’s PvE is pretty horrible when bosses last less than 2 minutes against a full berzerker group.
The worst part is they will likely blanket nerf berzerker without realizing the huge practical DPS disparities between classes. It’s been forever ever since guardians and warriors have ruled the PvE game, and the only viable DPS ele weapon are conjures instead of their kitten ed mainhands because many classes’ autoattacks are so bad compared to warrior/guard/LH ele.

D/D autoattacks are horrendous, and for staff ele you just sit in fire spamming fireball because all the other attunement autoattacks suck.The most practical DPS is usually the most consistent, best DPS. I’d rather bring a berk warrior ascalonian fractal than a berk ele who will die in 1 hit when it would take 2-3 to take the warrior out, and the berk ele has no damage advantage despite the survivability handicap.
And no, staff ele isn’t even close to LH ele mainhand damage. Staff ele isn’t a melee playstyle either.

In phase 1 he strictly follows a rotation, he can never kick twice in a row. In phase 2 he doesn’t kick, where the swipe is the only thing threatening you as warrior.

The overreactions in this thread are hilarious.
The problem with the zerk meta is that it’s just too good and overwrites any possibility of running anything else. I’m not talking, like, “I play how i want y u kick cleric thief i go post on reddit about elitists” builds, I’m talking legit builds that are highly disincentivized to run anything that isn’t raw DPS. For example, I’ve got a guide up on Guru for a hammer spec that deals damage almost equal to GS and which stacks permanent protection and Strength in Numbers for what is almost a 50% damage reduction for everyone in melee, at the cost of maybe 2-3% worth of damage, tops. I would still never run this build in an organized group even though I’m basically doubling the effective HP of everyone nearby because we just don’t care about that and would rather have the extra 2-3% damage. Rewarding the player for putting every possible point into DPS no matter the ratio of defense tradeoff involved in doing so isn’t rewarding skill, it’s just rewarding lazy building. If GW1 builds were just “put the 8 highest DPS skills on the bar and unload them on cooldown” the game wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting.
Along the same lines, the game currently is designed so that unless you are speed running, you really have zero incentive to contribute to any dungeon. Objectively speaking, if I wanted to get the most reward for the least effort involved, I would absolutely run a cleric bearbow. I would basically not be putting any effort whatsoever into any of the content since I’m out of range of most of the attacks, yet I still get all the same rewards and loot as everyone else. The run would take maybe 5-10 minutes longer but considering I’m putting in 1% effort versus 100% I’m basically getting 100x the effort:reward payoff. The problem is that most pugs subscribe to this mentality whether they’re aware of it or not. Either they genuinely just don’t care and “play how they want” or they just don’t realize they aren’t properly pulling their weight. Alternating mechanics to FORCE players with less DPS to make a contribution (which is fundamentally what the aggro thing is about) will improve quality of life generally because it will force contribution from all players AND on an organized zerk group it won’t even change anything because aggro will still be evenly distributed, the way it is now.
So basically, what it’s about is:
1) Encouraging build diversity by incentivizing the use of traits, weapons, and gear that have good damage/defense tradeoffs.
2) Making players pull their own weight.I hardly think that’s unreasonable or ruining the game however Anet decides to go about doing it.
Also, how many of you run Aetherblade path on a regular basis? Making fights require coordination is a bad thing, even if encouraging it is good. It is possible for a single bad pug to actively screw over 4 good players with very little effort in multiple parts of that dungeon. That is bad design.
maybe the 4 good players arent that good when one bad player can ruin their experience?
bad design is that even the worst players can get away in berserkers gear.

and this hasnt anything to do with berserker gear.
making other builds better gets my +.

they have to hurry up or wildstar is going to take over the gw2 PvE community.

I agree 100%, a lot of people use zerk (and I) because PvE is too easy , even fractal lvl 50, that’s why we can afford having less hp. Make PVE more challenging and we won’t be able to have full zerk.

im referring to swimming around under arah and afk autoattack bosses from there.There are some places in open world you can do this to champs, too. It’s not an exploit so much as the NPC isn’t coded for going on land or into water. Of course the easy fix would be you couldn’t hit anything that isn’t on land if you’re in water or or land if npc is in water… That would mean there was an exploit in the 1st place which I don’t believe there is.

as i said, its not about berserker being too good.
its about that arenanet fails to deliver fun, challenging and difficult pve content.
thats why every player without skill and lots of experience can run around in berserker gear.
arenanet needs to wake up.
and another step in the right direction would be to fix all the exploits in dungeons.

berserker and assassins is fine. if you are a good player you will be able to survive. if you are bad, you wont.
its skill based. and the problem isnt berserkers. the problem is that the pve content is too easy in this game.

i didnt have time to write my opinion on gwscr during the past few days.
so i will just leave it here:
i think for full runs embers and ogre pets should be allowed. there is no reason to remove them in my opinion. they help you with mightstacking etc… i dont see any problem with them.
harpy feathers should be banned because as long as they are allowed there is no reason to use a thief for runs. but i dont really care about banning all of them.
town clothes: should be banned of course
map glitches (swimming under the dungeon, jumping over the ceiling and so on should be clearly forbidden)
for the timer thing:
in my opinion we could have dungeon path specific rules.
for example in arah, at the beginning of every path a gate opens. i think that would be a better point to start the timer. the same could be used for ac,ta,coe……
for dungeons like hotw the timer should start right after you have chosen the path.

why do you call it exploit? its an ability of a profession and even anet said people are allowed to use it to kill tequatl.
it means the game revolves around using the #1 weapon skill to accomplish everything from riding the ‘Queensdale Champ Train’ to defeating massive world bosses to zerging mindlessly in WvWvW. its a “SKILL-based game” and that skill is auto-attack.

Unfortunately, Guardian cannot tank like tanks in more traditional mmorpg. Guardians have a more offensive role, dishing out damage and boons to allies. I’d suggest damage damage builds suck as 20/25/0/5/20 and use soldier, valkyrie or a mix of berserker and valkyrie armors. Altruistic Healing builds making you tanky, but you can’t do that much damage and you rely too much on giving boons and small heals to allies an hoping they survive to dish out extra damage to compensate for AH build’s lack of.
With an offensive Guardian build, you have a good burst with GS and you are also able to dish out boons. Hammer autoattacks, when traited have the highest dps and can offer 100% protection boon for any allies and you who stand in the symbol, which is imo a better alternative to a super tanky Guardian.

Mesmer is probably the best class in the game currently and guardian is probably one of the worst. That may change in the future but for the time being that’s the state of things. Both are decent for your playstyle though if you’re looking to the long term.
alot of stuff you say is right. but this is just the most stupid thing i have ever seen from you.
they made it time-gated to give you a reason to keep playing because they arent capable enough to give us something new (new zones, new dungeons etc. )
all you can do is repeat the same stuff over and over again. because nothing has really changed. and thats the problem.

I don’t get it, if you guys don’t like the game, why you want to craft ascended gear and get laurels?
If you think that log in daily and play the game is a burden … then just go play another game, I can’t imagine anything easier than that.
because the game could be so much better if they used their brains before developing content.
gw2 is a game based around PLAYING the game.
over the past 12 month they have been updating content that is anything but living.
you play that boring story content for 2 hours and then it becomes so boring you want to throw your computer out of a window.
the only nice update was the fractal update and it took them a year to add 5 new fractals and a pseudo hardmode.
why cant they release new zones, new dungeons and stuff?
why cant they give me content that makes me wanna PLAY the game.
why do i have to do the least skillful things like afk 11111111 farming temples to get ASCENDED gear or a legendary?
why cant they give me a LEGENDARY for PLAYING the game and doing something LEGENDARY?

arenanet kept destroying their own game over the past 12 month with the boring story stuff and throw-away content.
if they dont come up with something special for 2014, it will be the death of gw2.
I really think ANet needs to address this now if they ever plan on it. I think people that do this are scum and need to find better things to do with their time and not start flooding LFG for money.
ANet, I want to know your stance on this. In my opinion it ruins the community seeing “Selling Path for XXXX” and makes me feel like it does when I see some crappy gold selling email.
Will someone from ANet talk about this issue before it is an issue because I know it will become common soon enough if they don’t stop it now.

LoS alphard and use wall behind boxes. wall works best when alphard is exactly inside of it. shield of the avenger works and swirling winds works too.
you can block alphards scorpion wire. stabi can help.
other than that, alphards scorpion wire animation is almost the same as kholers in ac.
just two times as fast. so just dodge it ^^

and where do you need condition removal in pve except if you are trying to provoke an ooze war in arah path 1?
and as mentioned above, rhs doesnt affect reflections + it only affects 1h sword. so its pretty much waste considering a gs, sword/focus rotation is higher dps than pure 1h sword.

I think the best pug build is 10/25/0/10/25 since shout reductions can come in handy in different situations since pug encounters last longer, and pugs like to cause unnecessary bubbles on lupi.
thats just wrong. 10-25-0-25-10 is better for pugs because of empowering might.
10-25-0-10-25 is good for organized groups when you dont like rhs.
I think there is no reason to call this guide “Solo GL” while it´s focused to only 1 class. And i have to say, the most easiest too.
Get a kick? np, get a few hits by locust swarms? np, get a few ticks by lifeleech attack? np….AoE? np Block always rdy…need to get fast back after big AoE before he bubbles? Np i´ have enough gapclosers…escape big AoE by using 2 well timed dogde rolls? Lol no im a warrior!
It´s only a guide to “solo GL the easiest way”.
If it’s so easy do it naked. Alot of things in this game are easy if you keep doing the same stuff over and over. And im pretty sure warrior is not THE easiest. It still takes skill at some point . Mesmers only have to press 1 button randomly without any positioning > blurred frenzy to evade everything. And guardians can avoid the hardest attack by just putting down a wall of reflect. And this guide is not for warriors its from a warrior poV. Dodging is not only for warriors and lupicus wont change his attacks against other classes….

go and ask people who have done lupi solo with multiple professions. im pretty sure they will tell you warrior was the easiest. + warrior probably has the most room for error.

selling dungeons isnt wrong.
but exploiting trough a dungeon and then selling the path, is wrong.
once arenanet starts to think you will see less and less people selling arah because they wont get past lupicus.
Other classes can allow themselves to go full damage without defense – elementalists can’t. You have the lowest base stats and health pool in the game while still having to fight at close combat range to do damage, so with this build you will be downed most of the time and therefore be useless for your team.
Your build lacks
- condition remove
- stamina regeneration
- defense in generalDisregarding the fact that you will die very often with a full glassy build as an ele, if you want to run something like this, here are my suggestions:
- arcane wave as utility because it’s another blast finisher
- take 5 points away from air to get fire XI
- remove the 10 points from earth and put it in water VIThis is the highest dps build on an ele, but I can promise you that you won’t be happy with this.
Also, take Divinity or Scholar runes and remove the lifeleech sigil for +5% dmg

Hard to tell. There’s a theoretical DPS ranking for each class based on what the maximum is for each class, but that fails to take into account of the fact that you can’t always pull it off.
Realistically, I’d say its something like:
Warriors
Guardians
Thieves
Mesmer
Ele
Engi
Ranger
Necro
you can always deal more dps with ele than with any other profession.

Besides a mesmer nobody cares for anything but DPS in CoF. Except for maybe a guardian or maybe a mesmer, nobody cares about anything but DPS in most other dungeons, which can even be done without those classes. Play a little more, specially with premade exclusive dungeon runners like me and you’ll learn that. No need to apologize to us, not everyone has experience in the game, so im glad to teach anytime

@Topic: OP, I have 4 characters exclusively setup for dungeon runs, I have a premade which runs most dungeons on a regular basis, weekends we run them almost all but Arah p4 due to lenght , CM sometimes and TA aether path which is also lengthy. From personal experience I can tell you that this is how it goes:
Guardian: needed mostly in TA, only one is needed, for the staff autoattack, alsoways good to have one in party at all times. GS & sw/f. DPS is decent to good, but not the best compared to the rest Im going to bring to this table.
Mesmer: A must have in any group, ability to buff party, unparallel reflects makes Arah a piece of cake. DPS is probably the highest out there. You bring this guy because it has no draw backs.
Warrior: While Mesmer has the best theoretical damage, this one has the best practical damage. Banners make the difference. On top of that you have a class that unlike others, can stay in the middle of combat doing DPS all the time without having to worry about anything else. Their job is to kill things, and kill them fast, and thus they excell at it. Your safest bet is warrior for DPS in pug as well as premades.
Elementalist: Optional, situational, used mostly in AC and some parts of Arah where you can stack the boss, specially if you can stack lupi agaisnt the wall. Good DPS but in pugs they spend most of their time trying to heal rather than actually doing DPS.
Overall this is the DPS dungeon trinity of the game: Mesmer/Guardian/Warrior. Anything but that is superfluous and just there to fill in, except the occasional elementalist. Hope that helps.

in groups guardian deals more dps than warrior. in optimal situations guard is rank 2.
ele deals the most dps in the game. with fgs/lh or staff.
and that was with a bunch of friends, no stacks and far from optimized.
3 warrior, 1 mesmer, 1 guardian times are over and people should simply accept that fact.

ok just tried it again. behind the boxes the wall works. open area the wall doesnt seem to work.
the worst part is alphard will pull the npc sometimes.
You can still reflect Alphard’s pull.
just tried wall of reflection, it doesnt reflect. only shield works.
try to pull alphard behind a bunch of boxes and then use your wall. yesterday it worked somehow.
