I HATE STACKING. I like a challenge and I NEVER skip kholer or any optional boss.

I know a Gorilla boss in Arah P1 who would like to meet you.

I run arah p1-3 every day and have never fought that boss. I’m kinda curious now lol. I’m guessing he is just annoying as all hell with knockdowns and what not.

Knockdowns are the easy part.

the whole fight is easy if your group is using teamspeak. dont even know why people skip him.

@Cat Has Ducks.1982: you have to pick up a staff from the ground and stun the gorilla with it (has 10 sec cooldown or something, but you can only stun him for like 3 seconds or so). then put the staff on the ground. next person has to pick it up, stun the gorilla, put it down on the ground…..repeat.

if you dont stun him he will revive all the dead gorillas around you and rampage your group XD

and other than that explorer mode was never meant to be for pugs or bad groups.

Instances SHOULD NOT exist in a Massively Multiplayer Game no matter what name they have

im pretty sure you will be able to create a MMO without instances and make every other MMO look like trash

I like the dungeon overall but the ooze segment needs to be fixed. Make the kitten oozes friendly and then I’ll gladly PUG this. As it stands I’ll only do it with organized groups.

explorer mode is meant to be for organized groups. and they said in an interview they want to add paths especially for organized groups.

It needs nerfed in so many ways if your going to add this to a rotation, it is way to hard risk vs reward and needs toned down in a lot of small ways.

Otherwise, people will do it once and never come back again.

agree. i always play in groups with 1 mesmer, 3 warriors and 2 guardians. sometimes we even have 8 warriors in the group because warrior es #1 huehuehue.

its simple. first of all they have to kick the “pro testers”. and after that…
if devs dont even get past the first boss in a dungeon after days of trying, they simply need to turn the difficulty up 20 times and its fine.

I don’t think the new dungeon will be “easy mode” but it will probably give very specific team comps less favor.

the devs can complete it -> easy mode.
this guy in the livestream even said “tested by pro testers”.
when i hear something like that im not sure if i should laugh, cry or both at the same time.

Why is everyone complaining about F/U path being removed? It was insanely difficult for a normal group structure, and punished you too harsh on failure. Almost no one did this path.

While I was grinding for my full set of TA gear and legendary token, I actually got a group for it once, and that group failed hard for about an hour before giving up in frustration. You should consider this replacement path a full redesign of the F/U path from the team that put together the other two living story dungeons, which might I add were quite well designed.

Things change. While it would have been better to just add this path, I can certainly say I will not be missing F/U one bit, and neither will about 90% of the community.

explorer mode was never meant to be completed by pugs or casual groups.
explorer mode was meant to be difficult for good organized groups so they have a challenge.

My previous comment was for the delusional who thinks zerk is something rare and elite when it is in fact the most common build and gear set used by almost everyone. It is indeed the average joe build. That is the main reason why threads like this respawn every now and then.

the majority doesnt use berserker because they cant survive in berserkers gear.

Sucking and DPS are two different things. rT is good, right? You might even say elite. If I gave you all Dire gear, do you think you’d be able to beat the old Simin? Hmmmm

A DPS check is a DPS check whether or not you suck. I don’t think might, fury, or anything really would have allowed you to defeat old simin in Dire. Maybe if you nailed the sparks every time.

Show me an rT video of beating the current Simin in full Dire stats. (I’m seeing 5 ele’s and FGS haha)

i did simin prenerf in december last year when i played gw2 for 3 weeks (1 week after my first char hit 80) with a pug and we used knights/pvt.

whats the difference compared to a trinity?

someone already said it: there will always be 1 better statcombo.
no matter how you change it.

In GW2 right now we have (somewhat) roles. And while no 1 role is manditory and this is a good thing, they are not all equally useful. And so we all gear for the most useful role (berserker). This is not good for the game. We should want this to change. And no, not by nerfing berserker because berserker isn’t the problem at all.

but this is exactly the design of gw2. no trinity. every profession can dps and support at the same time. and i dont think that will change. working as intended

Actually, I’m sorry about your wasted sarcasm because I’m all in favor of a more important role for support and boons. It’s the 5 dps and go set up that I find cheap and more appropriate for a 5 dollars indie game than a triple A MMORPG.

I don’t think you can consider there is teamwork in GW2 because high lvl fractals requires it. That’s not even 1% of the game.

And finally you end up agreeing on my point. GW2 lacks the content that would require 5 players working together. The rest was suggestion for improving the roles proposed by ANet.

everyone agrees there mate. but to make that happen you dont need to nerf berserker into the ground. its all about how well you play. if you are not that good you simply use knights or pvt. as soon as you become better you will get away with berserker. thats about it.
and supporting your team and statcombos are different things.

*I do see the crutch of some ppl. Seeing the PvE DG Meta being “5 DPS and go” instead of something more structured packing support, CC and Condition on top of raw DPS in equal measure. I agree somehow.

But, Zerker gear is not the issue.

Encounters are. Other gear options are. Skills not being affected by gear are part of the issue too*.

5 dps and go is a fine tactic in a (why is five dollars censored?) indie game but a huge disappointment for a game with such production.

u know, there are people who are playing to become better. people who want to learn how to do things better. people who see a challenge in finishing content faster.

if i use pvt or other tanky gear i cannot become better because it wont make any difference if i get hit and tank the damage or play well and dodge/block/whatever at the right time.

they informed the people there will be no trinity before they released the game.
they informed the people there will be no tanks or healer.

maybe you should simply learn to like the fighting and profession system in gw2 and get used to it.
or try to find a game which fulfills all your personal wishes.

gw2 is very well made. its only lacking challenging content.

before the release of gw2 it was already known that:
1. there wont be trinity
2. there wont be tanks

I’m gonna say it right now. My warrior is my main and I’ve dropped every single profession many months ago because of how much I love my warrior but what some people are saying here is outright stupid.

Warrior has high PvE DPS, but by no means is it the highest. It’s simply the most accessible as all you have to do is press 2.

Those of you who say guardian do more dps, did you take in account buffs and traits? because on my i see nowhere near as high dps as my warrior.
What buffs i get in a spamfest zerg is irrelevant.

do you think people who are trying to optimize their builds and do the math behind all of this are stupid?

Depends on what you want to do with your class, Guardians are a really solid group support class(helllloooooo group stability) and if specced for it can deal adequate damage. I wouldnt go too far down the zerker path however due to very low hp’s. But i have an Altruistic Healing build i run that is hybridish with around 1600 tough, 800healing, 55%crit chance and 65%crit dmg and it does ok damage without sacrificing too much survivability.

Warriors can get away with full zerker to an extent because of their mobility around the combat(if they are running greatsword) and because a zerker warrior will have around 19-20k hp’s, a zerker guardian will have 12-13k which means you will melt to conditions(which are currently in omfg crazy mode atm).

And that brings me to my next point, Guardians are like armoured snails, if you like being mobile take a warrior, you dont even really have to spec for mobility. Just throw a greatsword on from ur inventory when ur running somewhere and swap it out when u get there or ur about to enter combat.

At the moment warriors are in a better place having being buffed last patch, but that can change in an instant. Just look at Ele’s, they were 1 of the best classes and now are just free badges.

you have aegis, blocks, vigor on crit etc. …
thats why full berserker guardians get away even with 11k hp.
in pve there are almost no conditions that are really dangerous, except maybe if u fight the slime in arah p1 for an hour.

of course hammer is faster in that test because compared to gs/sword focus you have vulnerability stacks on the golem all the time.

in a group, in fights where your target has vulnerability anyway i believe sword deals more dps because hammer autoattacks are super slow.

and you should use other traits for sword.

I’m curious where you got this from? i was always under the impression that warriors were top tier damage above thieves. Also another question i had which would be considered the best weaponset for raw damage?

warriors aren’t top tier anymore

1. LH/FGS ele
2. Thief (single target)
3. War, guard, mes, thief (cleave)
4. Ranger, engi
5. Necro
And I run 25/30//0/0/15 for dungeons and 0/30/20/20/0 for fractals. My default weapon sets are d/d and s/p swapping the s/p to s/d for stealing might from certain bosses and short bow or p/p for stuff that has to be ranged

But warriors give might, fury, banners to the entire group, and is multi target, so they are still the better DPS option for dungeons…

Raw, unbuffed DPS the thief may do more, but in an ideal dungeon scenario, warrior is still much better.

in terms of dps its ele>guard>thief>warrior

and no, warriors are not the better dps option. warriors are easier to play and are used to give other classes offensive buffs. thats about it.

in pve u use gs for blind, whirling wrath and the symbol, then you switch to 1hsword focus because 1hsword has the stronger autoattack and deals more dps.

in good groups, good guardians deal MORE damage than warriors. and when you add reflections ,alot more damage.

You cherry picked my post, conveniently leaving off my part about reflects.

You also added the “in good groups” part, which is highly ambiguous and subjective.

I’m a sword guardian and wouldn’t trade it for a warrior any day of the week, but with the vastly different amount of situations you can encounter I think it’s hard to make a blanket “guardian > warrior dps” type of statement.

If anything, I’d say is close enough to not really matter, and that the OP should focus his decision on which class to make based on the other merits that each brings.

u can do the math. guard deals more dps than warrior in groups, even without reflects.
and warrior is only number 4 in the rankings of the highest dps.

lol keep thinking that as soon as you try warrior you will see how wrong you are. My warrior deal on average 2x as much dps as my guardian both are using full berserker.

i think u can call that a game mechanic til anet will fix stuff like that, just like line of sight etc..

to make a record legit, in my opinion all bosses and champs on your way should be killed (for example the gorilla boss arah p1). i dont understand why people skip him since he has a cool mechanic with the staff etc..
and if you are really good you will find ways to kill him really fast and no one will imitate it so easily.

stuff like arah jumping puzzles should be forbidden.

Please please please review the condition cap.

Pretty much the whole Necro class is based around condition damage and we are massively kitten in PVE by the limit.

Right now Necros have to fight and beg like crazy to participate in dungeons due to the cap!

Some comments have suggested balance would be affected if the condition cap was raised, but right now Necros can be prevented from doing any damage at all by other classes applying incidental conditions with minuscule amounts of damage that knock our high-damage conditions off the target entirely!

Is it balanced that when Necros are solo they can do full damage, whereas in groups they can’t?

its not due to the cap, its because you conditionnecros dont know how to play your class in pve. get berserker gear and scholar runes. when you see your damage numbers for the first time you will understand.

even with higher condition cap a berserker necro would laugh about your condition damage.

Venomous Aura was complete garbage, as the radius was fairly tight, and venoms are not worth using at all. We’ve now increased that radius a bit, so that it’s easier to share worthless venoms with allies without huddling closely together!

We’re also looking at Destroying Flanking Strike, so that it now only removes 1 boon instead of 2, now thieves wont even have to worry about Sword/Dagger spec.

Also, pistol main hand may see one of its skills reworked into a worthless support ability (since support thieves are epic). We have middle school graduate brazilians paid in bananas working 25 hours a day to achieve maximum support while keeping pistol main hand totally useless for anything else.

So you guys are going to barely buff 2 terrible wep kits/specs, so that instead of being garbage that no one uses, it will be garbage that maybe 1 guy in 1000 gets tricked into using.

Then you are going to nerf the only reason ever to go s/d (stopping bunkers from stacking 10000 buffs / stripping stuff like prot off in PvE on bosses)?

What you need to fix is the kittenty meta were it doesn’t matter what spec or gear you are in the content is so easy it doesn’t matter, which actually just favors full zerk gear since instead of a 1 hour dungeon run its a 20-30 minute run.

Sure you can put on your tank/support gear and pretend you are doing something special, but when its all said and done the only thing is accomplished is wasting peoples time.

they just have to release more difficult content

for example ele players still run around with staff in pve. or rangers with bow.
…. then they come to the forums and cry about how bad their classes are.

Mr. Sharp,

I feel the guardian changes are very positive. The proposed change to the focus mind trait will give guardian the ability to aggressively push while having access to mobility and superior healing capabilities.

The change to purging flames is a amazing counter play tool for the current condition meta. It not only removes conditions from allies but it takes it one step further by introducing a new mechanic that lowers condition duration. Definitely a good change.

Things to take into consideration:

1. Power of the Virtuous is considered a weak grandmaster trait. In a already non damage oriented trait line. In most circumstances one will never be able to maintain enough boons to see any significant benefit from the trait. It probably will be better to award the player the extra 10% damage as long as they have any boon on them.

2. Unscathed contender is more like a gimmick. Its nearly impossible to maintain the extra 20% damage since aegis only last for one attack. It should be changed into something that is less situational, something players have direct control over. My idea is for each virtue you have active you do 6.5% extra damage. So when all three are active you do a extra 20% damage.

Looking into the future, I feel the Zeal and Radiance tree need to be reworked so that they both become relevant. While Radiance would benefit from minor tweaks, Zeal needs a total redo. The trait line has no coherent theme and it seems like its home to a bunch of random traits that have no synergy together.

My suggestion would be to make Zeal focused on spirit weapons. Merge improved spiritual weapons duration from the virtues line with spirit weapon mastery in Zeal. Make it a Tier 1 trait. Merge A fire inside from the Radiance line with Eternal Spirit from the Zeal line and make it a Tier 2 trait.

There aren’t many universal traits in zeal compared to the ones present in other lines. Radiance has this problem to a degree, just not as bad. More traits that can be used regardless of what kind of build you run would make the tree more viable.

Re-examine the adept, master and grandmaster zeal traits. For example, symbolic exposure would be more beneficial if it applied pulses of chill instead of vulnerability. The grandmaster trait could use a damage boost.

Overall I’m happy with the changes to come, definitely a step in the right direction.

The game is in desperate need for more counter play options and build variety.

zeal zealots speed and fiery wrath is king in pve though.

I don’t understand the rage. They aren’t making our damage ability or options any worse, they just aren’t making them any better. They will address the other lines when they get to it. These things are done in waves. They won’t change everything at once.

By not making them any better and the focus of the entire “balance update” is around increasing “Support” (ie, sustain), what do you thinks going to happen to our lack luster dmg?

Again after again, the devs are not directly nerfing us.

They are just ~buffing~ everyone else, which in turn, nerf’s us.

As for the perception issue of the class Obtena, GW2 clearly laid out that they will not pigeon hole people into specific roles (no holy trinity)…

There is still a Trinity: Dmg, CC, Support.
