The fact that Colin said we could see more Raids through Living Story is terribly worrying.

why is everything you hear worrying?

it could mean they are doing living story right → 4 big updates per year introduced by a story.

and tbh you should be happy because he pretty much confirmed they will support the raid content and add more over time.

What I am saying is that according to posts like these there are still many casuals that prefer to have a more relaxed experience.

and i agree. but what is the intention behind challenging group content? a) is it to make people happy who dont want a challenge and cant be bothered to step up their game, or b) is it to make players who want challenge and difficulty happy?

its pretty clear that b) is the case and i dont get why people feel forced and cry when nobody will force them to play the cgc. its not like the mindless open world farming will go away.

The problem is, that’s what the dungeons (and fractals) are currently for the vast majority of the players.

would like to see your statistics and metrics please.

apart from that the amount of bad players (and by bad i mean bad) who are able to complete dungeons and fractals, even solo, says something different.

No, it doesn’t. It just means that the rest of the players are even worse. And they are.

are you a developer at anet or where do you get that secret and 100% correct information from?

I’m all for challenge, but if ANet turns GW2 into Wild Star, it will become as barren as Wild Star; not talking open world PvP as that is another topic. I actually like to see players in the open world, and if that means 90% of them are casual at least they are in attendance and thus are customers.

wildstar didnt lose players because of the raids. wildstars PvE content is probably the best on MMO market atm. the game had and still has alot of other issues that led to players leaving the game.

So, in the end, they will be tuned down so that the range of people for whom they will be fine will be the greatest.

if that is the case then you can call the cgc a failure.

I have considered that, but the idea of Hard Mode has been completely swept aside from Anet in the past in favour of catering for everyone.
So yes it is true that this is the most likely outcome, them making time so people can run both the short fractals and the longer CGC, it doesn’t mean that people aren’t going to complain that whatever the CGC is, is too hard or too long.

And given the nature of the game so far, and given what we have seen in the past (bosses being nerfed, instances being nerfed) the chances are we will see any CGC released be made considerably easier due to people finding it too difficult.

I mean I’ve played with people that really struggle in the open world let alone instances. The idea of Fractals is wayyy too difficult for them. These people complain things are too hard. Now while my response to that is “then the content isn’t for you”. That isn’t a good response from Anet.

if people struggle with the easiest content in the game and are not willing to improve, then they should be looking for a single player game with a difficulty slider.

Their response would be, “it’s okay we’ll make it easier so you and all your friends can enjoy our CGC!”

thats the worst response ever. challenging group content. CHALLENGING. do you realize what that means? it means no easy mode, no win on the first try, improve teamplay and your individual skills to get it done. it means some players will fail forever if they are not willing to put in the effort and get better at the game.

anet doesnt have to dumb down every little piece of content so learn resistant people or lazy people can get it done. the core game is easy and there is more easy content coming with HoT, there will be more than enough content for those people.

and apart from that, the response you described is exactly what anet has done in the past and its one of the major reasons why this game became so stale and boring.

issues like that could be because you are using the drivers windows installed on its own during the upgrade/clean Installation.

to stop windows from automatic driver installation you can do this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Windows-10-gotchas/first#post5334145

when you have done this, delete the graphics driver and download/install them manually.

no problemo. i recommend doing the win upgrade and then a clean install. after the clean install check your hardware Manager/device manager or whatever its called in english and see if all of the hardware is accepted. win 10 will install drivers on its own. then do what i listed above to disable automatic driver Installation, delete the installed graphic drivers and install the ones you downloaded from nvidia or amd. thats how i did it.

the automatic installed drivers for mainboard, ethernet device and so on should work without any problems and you dont have to worry about them.

Nividia just posted updated drivers so that may help any video card issues for those cards.

Biggest reason I’m holding off is this and this .

you cant disable automatic updates, but you can disable automatic driver updates via win update. press win+pause -> advanced settings -> hardware -> idk what its called in english but should be something like "hardware installation settings.

there you can disable automatic driver updates via win updates.

then you can install the graphic drivers you downloaded from nvidia or amd.

Isnt WoW more about gear check and basic coordination than actual skill? Thats illusionary challenge.

its more about requirements and not kittening up your rotations and even tho you can macro some stuff the rotations are harder to learn and master.
http://www.methodwow.com/board/showthread.php?15484-WoD-Mage-Compendium
check the playstyle sections.
there are encounters where 1 player who kittens up his rotation leads to a wipe because the requirements cant be met, but thats also because when top guilds attempt the next higher difficulty they are undergeared.

the combat is holding wow and its encounter design back, thats for sure. but the encounters are still more complex than anything we have in gw2.

and im not trying to shut down spoj, i even said so in another post. if he wants unrestricted to become a thing, im fine with it. but i dont think trying to merge the unrestricted and restricted ruleset is the right way to do it.

nobody wanted weths initiative to fail. but people knew it will probably end up like this.

and if you are tired of irrational negativity, then start with yourself and stop your witch hunt.

Finally you are no required to take part in all the votes if you think it is so “atrocious” and if you have requests Weth appears to be very efficient at addressing them provided you express them constructively.

nobody wants spoj to resign. but its quite obvious what he is trying to do and when weth took over everyone knew this was going to happen..
he even tried it before. unrestricted rules were changed because he said it will make unrestricted runs more interesting and the old rules were holding unrestricted back.

if you are so desperate for the unrestricted stuff and if you prefer to jump around like tarzan in the jungle, then use the unrestricted ruleset. but dont try to turn the restricted ruleset into a circus.

and for the thing with nike, you are stuck in delusions zelyhn.

For a change, be helpful and assist Weth to improve the system instead of insulting him.

thats what people were trying to do..

you dont need weekly votings or even meetings to decide stuff that was decided in meetings a long time ago.
just allow whatever is not breaking the rules and if a major problem shows up and the majority of the community thinks its not ok, then you can still vote.

gj. i feel like berserker guard should be faster for lupicus tho. if you use wall + shield you can have a really high UC uptime during p2 and 3.

also if you try long enough you can get like 25 seconds phase 2. just need to hope you reflect enough projectiles during the first aoe and a few single target projectiles after that.
once i had 6 aoe reflects and 2 or 3 AAs and phase 3 started at 1:35

did you use the f1 aoe burning trait? because you dont really need to stay so close to lupi during phase 1 and the locusts will just die from following you around. then they wont eat your smite hits.

the real reason a dedicated healer isnt needed is because you can evade and you have tons of other defensive tools + combofields + teamwork = as good as a few dedicated healers and on top of that you can deal more dps, but it requires more effort, skill and teamwork.

in gw2 its active defense and teamwork > passive defense.

and healing power + defensive stats seems pretty op to me, because you can ignore everything.

Sinister engineer is slightly better than berserker engineer when solo. In a normal group the berserker engineer is about 19% better DPS.

Curious, what is the Engi build you’re using the for the figures I’ve seen?

We used the meta beserker engie build and the condition damage build Element used in his lupi solo.

While I’m sure that is the best for Lupi, is it the best condi? I mean you don’t really benefit from offhand shield if you’re not taking advantage of the blast for might. And Toolkit prybar is nice, but the burning from FT seems hard to pass up. Just seems to me that there were defensive requirements that could be replaced to push even further? I know I can see regularly throughout a fight 5-11k burns with like 2-6k bleeds of course fluctuating as things stack and drop (and when burns go up bleeds go down so you don’t peak on them at the same time). And that’s in addition to the power/poison/confusion damage.

i asked dekeyz and she spent a few hours doing the engi stuff. if i remember correctly, if you need defensive tools, condition damage is superior in a solo situation. if you dont, then berserker is slightly superior.

Not a chance, so long as there is the dodge system, and that system can even be supplemented with higher energy regen and extra evades, there is no way most (or possibly even any) fights are ever going to require a dedicated healer.

i dont see why you would nerf waterfield blasts.

a group who works together to repeatedly blast waterfields during a fight needs much more coordination and teamplay than having 2 or 3 dedicated healers.

on top of that its also more interesting, because it opens many ways for build diversity independent of gear.

skilled play should be rewarded, not punished.

i think its pretty clear what should be allowed and what shouldnt.

apart from that, when HoT is released people will either quit the game or will be busy with the new challenging group content.
so why do you make it more complicated instead of leaving it the way it was decided in the meeting?

With things going the way they are, we probably do just need to have a voice comms meeting to get this hashed out and resolved before we go any further.

there were multiple meetings in the past. someone will always come up with the most kittened excuses to change the rules for no reason.

then you will have a meeting and the majority will vote against your ideas. its a waste of time, just like the weekly voting.

You operate under the false assumption that we “script-kiddies” care about the content and not the reward at the end and getting it as fast as possible.
That’s where you went wrong.

No, he didn’t went wrong. He was addressing the posts to those of the “hardcores” that are complaining about the game being too easy. If all you care is the reward at the end and getting it as fast as possible, then obviously game being too easy wouldn’t be a problem to you at all.

But .. they want more better mostly “exclusive” rewards for their harder content.
So in the end it correct .. all they care about are the rewards.
If ANet or any other Game Company puts in “harder” content that doesn’t give
better rewards, most of the people who constantly cried for harder content
just because the challenge, suddenly say : why should we play that when we
get the same in easy mode.

I’ve seen that so often in forums of so many other MMOs since i play online,
in the end it always comes down to the same.

i’m just guessing but the majority of people who against challenging content just against instanced, privatized content Content that excludes you is not a way,(see TT) and some sort of way, as i read your comment you exactly ask for this. Elite content, what just 5% can complete, or you or who have a friend amongs them, I don’t want elite stupid WoW raids, and maybe not just me. But i admit i assume, thats exactly the elite, skillful, practice needed challenging content what you need.

that is what most people refuse to understand. first of all, no matter how difficult the content is, it does not exclude you, you exclude yourself by choosing to not play it.
guilds dont exclude you, you exclude yourself by choosing to not play with like minded individuals or make your own guild.

secondly, not every piece of content needs to be made for everyone. 100% of this game is made for players like you. whats so bad about giving above average players a little bit of content specifically made for them?

Of course not but by optimizing I’m also including step by step tactics as well as gear load out. Following a guide to the letter and succeeding is a hollow victory in my book. You’re just a meat bot following a pre-programmed series of steps to victory. Do it enough times it becomes rout and you don’t need the cheat sheet anymore but if you think following such a guide makes you “smarter” then welcome to the Google generation where you don’t have to learn anything on your own because it’s written up online and as long as you have net access and a smart phone you’re “smart”.

LOL wat….this guy

You must be entirely ignorant of any content besides open world.

Anyways as far as i could tell all notrigger was saying was that the content in this game is easy to complete. That’s not to say you will get a speed record, but any content in this game can be done with a minimal amount of information and understanding of game mechanics. I mean back in the days of 4 wars 1 mez people knew very little about the game there was no might stacking, defiance management, they didn’t even have great portal skips, but they still completed the content.

Ofc to optimize it takes a tremendous amount of skill and group synergy, but there is no special reward for doing well. And there is no content in this game that requires that kind of skill. Fractals kind of do…if you want to run them under 30 min (depending on fractal) but the rewards are kitten and it still can be done with horrible groups (i’ve had my fair share of experiences, eles who dont use blinds/ might stack, guards who don’t know how to pull or use sota, thieves who d/d on trash mobs, engies who camp rifle/ft etc.etc.etc.).

Challenging content should require understanding of game mechanics and your class and maybe sometimes quick reactions. It should be fun and rewarding and push people to play as well as they can. I personally cannot see any reason against this. No one says this content must be mandatory just that it should be in the game. What’s the point of having all these abilities and yet never having to use them. What’s the point of having a great reactive combat system and yet having easy content.

thank you.

Well yeah, everyone playing is smart enough to know how to use Google to get a guide but that line did come off a bit salty so I see why Vayne took it that way.

But everyone can’t breeze through all content. I have reflex and depth perception issues so I didn’t breeze through LS season 2, I don’t breeze through JPs, and anything that requires pinpoint movement is a no-go. Oh, but I can listen, follow instructions, solve logic problems, use strategy, and Google if I have to. I’ve also improved greatly since n00b me joined in 2012. I still don’t see the need to do spreadsheets and min/max to death but, well, I’m not MLG.

For all those who want higher difficulty and more challenge why don’t you just equip white armor and weapons, leave off trinkets….you’re happy to be challenged, others are happy the way it is…….win win.

YOU HAVE THE OPTION to make the content more challenging………….is it really that you want other people to be challenged more than they are….. or do you want yourself to be challenged?

You can transmute your stuff for the same looks as spendy gear!

do you think people havent done this before? the PvE content in gw2 is a joke and everyone smart enough to google a guide for their class and understand simple logic will be able to breeze through the content or even solo it.

Everyone is “smart enough” to google a guide for their class. Really?

So those who don’t do it aren’t smart enough? Because plenty of people don’t do it. I don’t do it. I prefer to make my own build, thanks very much. And there are plenty of players who don’t even realize going online and getting builds is a thing. Nothing to do with “smart enough”. Has to do with exposure to the genre. Has to do with commitment to the game.

Plenty of people log in and kill stuff and never ever look up a build. Not because they’re not smart enough. Because it’s either not on their radar or they want to do it themselves.

i like how you think everything is an insult. i was just stating the fact that everyone who is smart enough to google a guide and understand simple logic will be able to breeze through the content and even solo it.

that has absolutely nothing to do with “on my radar”. its just a fact.

Engi (engi and thief being close in single target and Engi pulling ahead in groups)
Thief
Warrior(This and ranger might be flipped)
Ranger
Guard
Mesmer (bare in mind that mesmer has great skills where necro is just damage)
Necro (Close to mesmer dps, trades places with mesmer if the mesmer has to bring lots of support.)

Is Engie still high with the Grenade and Mortar Shot nerf?

I think it’s:

Engie – broken grenade trait otherwise would be below thief and ele
Thief – single target mind you
Ele
Warrior
Guard
Ranger
Mesmer
Necro

If the grenadier trait is fixed engie would be above warrior probably, might be the same sine warrior buffs.

engi without broken grenades is #2.
