It’s common when that happens for ANet to forget to make a formal announcement (they are busy with other things and a ‘red post’ just attracts attention; plus, sometimes the exploit can be used in other situations and they don’t want to highlight what those might be until fixed).

There’s no specific ETA for the fix, so we just have to wait it out.

That’s, let me put it simply, bullkitten. This is a progress-stopper for many players who wanted to enjoy “new” content and advance through fractals. They told us we’ll get more support, yet we barely get any responses. Again. This is the same thing like they did with dungeons for three years until they decided to kill them off.

Yes there’s an exploit, obviously, but even if they can’t tell us that they’re actually working on it and give us an ETA, because that isn’t too difficult. A red post is supposed to attract attention, especially when it’s a rather important matter like this.

What is bullkitten [sic]? That you don’t believe what I posted? Devs get busy with all sorts of things and don’t always have time to post. Maybe they should be given an hour a day to comb through the forums and respond, although perhaps most players would prefer that they work on troubleshooting and coding instead.

Or do you think it’s bullkitten [sic] to leave an exploit in the game while it’s being fixed? Or is it wrong of them to remove discussion of the details to avoid someone trying to apply the same principle to another situation?

In the end, it doesn’t matter: the vendor will still be disabled until they fix whatever is broken. You can choose to rage about the injustice of the inconvenience or choose to do other stuff until it’s fixed. (Or, I suppose, you can do both: rage and do other stuff.) Speaking for myself, there’s just too much stuff to do right now to give this particular (and annoying) issue a lot of my attention.

No, I do believe you nor do I think an exploit should be left in game. However, considering they manage to give the players a notice when it comes to different areas of the game, they should do this for fractals too – At least for a matter as important as this. The main issue here is that they’re doing this for three years when it comes to instanced content and it feels like you’re a lower tier of customer for enjoying a certain type of content the most; barely any fixes for dungeons, if there were any changes they weren’t written down in half the cases, pretty much all of the fractal fixes they listed with HoT-release weren’t fixing; no, instead they created new bugs like being able to run through certain objects like the barriers in Urban Battleground, some of the doors in Uncategorized und the drill in Molten Facility. This however was silently patched, again with no mention of it in the patch notes. As a matter of fact, theres issues concerning Lupi; one of them being able to oneshot him with reflects which apparently was too difficult for them to fix (which I can actually understand to some degree), the other being his AA hitting in melee range starting at phase 2. There was never any mention of it in the patchnotes, it was never clear if it was an intended change or a bug and even after bugging the devs so much the most we got was a “sorry I did everything I can, it’s up them. I’m not allowed to say more.” – From a QA Member. To this day it’s still not fixed and probably never will, considering they wanted to kill off dungeons anyway.
Also, I apologize for coming off harshly in my last response, I’m just fed up with this lack of communication.

This is almost what I run in dungeons/low tier stuff.

You’d want to swap Chill of Death for Rending Shroud, so much better. Personally I use all heals but that one, but that’s just me.

As for gear, yes, Zerk+Valk is a good choice, however this is something I’d only recommend when running in premade groups all the time where you can expect the buffs. In pugs you might fall short due to lacking buffs and support.

Yeah you can, but remember that you lose any existing upgrades when doing so.
Sadly, the fractal merchant is still disabled so you can’t even extract your upgrades.

This is something that came to my mind yesterday while running some high scale fractals.

As we know, everything gets stupidly high toughness at some point, which makes power-based builds perform less well; those usually run on direct damage-buffing food like Truffle Steak. We also have lifesteal food though, which, while not necessarily being as strong as its own, ignores armor whenever it triggers. So I’ve been curious as to what is actually better for Berserkers in high scales; do you still get a decent boost from, lets say 100 power from a Truffle Steak, over the 325 Life Leech from an Omnomberry Pie (Both give 70 bonus precision), which can also help in keeping scholar bonus up? I sadly suck horribly at calculating/finding this out, but I know there’s some people here who love doing this.

So what I want to know is: Would normal stat increasing food (Truffle Steak, Butternut Squash…) be the better dps increase or would Lifesteal food win? I personally tend to move towards Lifesteal because it helps with Scholar, but I have no idea how much of a dps increase the foods actually end up being, especially not when confronted with a cubic ton of toughness. I’m also aware that this (probably) can’t easily be answered, but imo it would be something interesting to find out.

Oh and yes, seaweed salad would obviously win, but that stuff hurts your wallet badly if you’re poor like me.

Just fyi, you can set your auto-chain to Gravedigger and as long as you hit a target below 50% + GD isn’t on CD, it keeps chaining itself.

First off, yes, I’m aware there is a thread in the Raid/Fractal/Dungeon-Sub, but as we’re not getting any response over there I’d like to try my luck here.

The Fractal Mastery Merchant (the one where you get the better versatile infusions, upgrade extractors, attunement-mats and more) has been disabled out of nowhere, no mention why and no ETA for when he’s going to be available again. This was two days ago. As of now, you still can’t access him. ANet, why is that so? This is something that effectively blocks people from further progressing through fractals, it is a very important issue for part of the playerbase and yet you can’t even tell us why it’s disabled? If there’s something severely wrong with it and you need time for a fix, then that’s understandable since well, code is code after all, but at least tell us the reason as on why it’s disabled and when we can expect it to be back online. I mean, it’s disabled now, even if we know what’s wrong with it, no one can abuse/get hit by the issue anymore.

Oh and on an completely unrelated side note, I’m kind of saddened you still don’t write fractal/dungeon fixes into your patch notes, considering there were certain fixes, at least yesterday, but there was nothing mentioning it.

They don’t have that much more HP (though they probably have more than before starting at a certain point), they have that much more toughness. That’s a difference.
Sinister burns through them much faster than Berserker does, which is bullkitten. Except for the Underground Facility boss because conditions haven’t been fixed on it, so you’re kittened for that one anyway.

The reduced damage in correlation to the high toughness is just… dumb. Can’t put it differently. If I run scales around 80 and I manage to make Archdiviner hit for a measly 4k with his Leap, then I don’t know anymore.

Yes, that being said I had the defensive potion running + outlaw slaying potion and I’m not entirely sure if Prot was applied on me (I think we lacked that) and if Weakness was applied on Archie. But even if you remove all this, you’re looking at less damage than before, considering he was able to pretty much oneshot my Warrior back then when running a slaying potion

No Artemis, damage of mobs is severely nerfed. Doesn’t help we got those op as heck defensive potions which reduce damage by 25%. During our runs the last two days I was able to just run around a bit and not dodge much (partly because I didn’t want to because of Boon Fumbler) and I could facetank some hits easily, there wasn’t too much challenge; that being said, I run Necro, so I naturally survive a bit more. The rest of our party didn’t have too many issues either from what I noticed, not even the Eles.

The issue with toughness this high is that, for the first time in three years, you’re actually forced to run specific builds. Before that, full glass always was recommended, but you were able to choose between being a glass cannon and fast or being tankier and slower, but allowing to survive one-two more big hits. Now, if you’re not Sinister or at least very close to it your DPS is going to suck, even as direct damage glass cannon (aka. Zerker). This is very, VERY bad.

He’s kittened that a run advertised as “speed clear” had not only one, but two healers which is pretty much the opposite of that.
I personally don’t think it’s worth getting that kittened over it (maybe I’m just desensitized from all the horribly terrible things I’ve seen in pugs) but he’s got a point somewhere.

Also, apologies, I just glanced over the response since I’m not gonna bother to read through all the responses considering half of this topic is going to be full with bullkitten/derailed posts again.

Yeah, Necro is quite viable. Nothing “lets go beat record runs”-worthy, but an valuable asset to a group, even more so if fights start to take longer as Blood Magic is a wonderful traitline to help your team out, Reaper and Reaper Shroud bring some nice additions to the table, just destroy breakbars like there’s no tomorrow and a Necromancer actually has a few tricks up their sleeve, if you’re aware of what your skills do and how they work. Minions pretty much stopped sucking completely and are actually recommended in some situations (Minions are really great in the Thaumanova fractal on high scales when fighting the Anomaly lol)
Their DPS is nothing groundbreaking, but it’s not horrible either.

But if you prefer ranged, go with what Spoj said and roll an Engineer, as that’s probably your best bet for ranged gameplay.

Either way, the answer is to share your builds and explain how they work. Maybe your builds are better than the zerker builds.

RS 1 is a melee AoE spell and even with higher AS it still has lower overall DPS then DS 1 which is ranged.
Someone decided to add dhuumfire to an AoE spell and use it for single target… as a meleer… instead of having higher DPS at the safety of range.

Someone else said “it’s definitely worth it… with quickness i saw burns tick up to 3K”. That means people are going to waste the quickness buff on RS 1 burns, in a zerker build… instead of using it to buff their Lich Form, which can hit 17K each hit… and has lower AS then 1 sec.

In conclusion… people do less damage, and are in more danger which translates in lower DPS uptime… and they are already thinking that in fact they do more, which is the reason why they are defending the build.

Metabattle… right… by all means… the people that keep trolling me for trying to help them can go ahead and play ineffectively if that is their wish.

I think Dhuumfire adds more damage than Death Perception even for regular DS though.

But ok, if you’re saying glass cannon reaper isn’t good because it’s too squishy for melee, that’s a different discussion. Regarding that, there’s no reason to go full zerk reaper when you could go full valk.

Burning doesn’t scale with the stats obtained from the items… but DS1 does…
Compare +2K burns on RS1 with 16K hitting Lichform… there is no contest…

There is also the fact that Lich Form will be on cd after 15/22.5s, earlier if you transform back and that other Elites may perform better in certain situations so that slotting those over Lich is preferred. On the other hand, Shroud is built in, doesn’t take up one of your skill slots and allows you to swap back and forth on a low cooldown, giving you some really nice utility too depending on if you run DS or RS and it protects your health so that Scholar has longer uptime.

Cannot upgrade my rings to Attuned

You need to attune your rings first before you infuse them to get the double agony infusion slot. So you would have to buy new rings, attune them, then infuse them. Most likely a bug and will be fixed but who knows how long that will take. So use the extractor on your current infused rings so you don’t lose out on the infusions at least.

That is not true as I attuned my already infused rings.

Explain to me why a condition build should have critical chance?
At the moment I prefer Condition, Toughness and Healing.
There are a lot of better option than condition, Precision and Toughness at the moment.

There are various sigils applying their effects upon crit, among them condition based ones.
Also, what else would you want to inprove your damage as Cond-DD? Even if you crit for not-as-high numbers, you still crit, thus getting more damage. It is entirely your choice to go with more tanky stats, but the option is there.

I don’t quite get your point

Barbed Precision is an adept minor, of course it’s nothing really groundbreaking. Furious Demise creates more synergy with Barbed Precision and various other things, also it’s basically a damage buff. Also, the Fury doesn’t only apply to your Shroud, so you could technically flash into shroud and back out to get Fury, given you can live with CD on your shroud.
Protection wouldn’t fit into the curses line, we got other traitlines for that.
Funnily enough, you can trait Master of Corruptions and thus get a CDR on Corrosive Poison Cloud, which applies Poison, Weakness and destroys all projectiles entering it; with Master of Corruptions you have about 40% uptime or so on it, on the expense of applying an additional condition to yourself when using a corruption. Also,

can we get some official confirmation of why it’s down atleast? ugghhh… is their working day over?

As I said, responses here are very, very rare. We have droughts where there’s no dev-response for months and we generally didn’t get answers on important matters, leaving us to hope it’s mentioned in the patch notes, which was the case about 50% of the time.

If they wanted to, they would’ve dropped a quick post here, telling us that the system is disabled, maybe even give us the reason and at least try to give us an ETA for the fix.

I went ahead and quickly recorded the GS/RS skills and their descriptions, might be helpful for you. What you really want to dodge are GS#2 (Gravedigger) and RS#5 (Executioner’s Scythe)
I forgot about Chilled to the Bone in the video, but if you suddenly see white particles around the necromancer, you probably want to dodge (1 1/4s cast time, applies 7s~ chill, 2s stun and gives the necromancer stability for 10s per target hit, also deals damage, all that on 600 range.)

People still stack Bloodlust?

I simply go with D/F or D/W, depending on what I want. Reaper melts through breakbars, so that’s pretty neat and gives you time to get some heavy hits in.
Staff is a nice utility weapon which can be actually helpful at times and I personally despise axe.

Pretty simple: Foot in the Grave is for stability, so there’s no dps increase to be found, it’s more something for skipping, wvw and pvp.
Death Perception is nice, but with Decimate Defenses, Berserker Gear and and party buffs you’re looking at pretty much 100% critchance anyway, so it’s completely overkill and wasted.
What does that leave for us? Dhuumfire.
Besides, you don’t run SR all the time, in high level fractals you tend to prefer Blood Magic because of all leech (and because you can blow up the clown car at underground facility lmao) and in solo play (or sometimes in group play) you can run Death Magic and go with a bunch of minions. Curses is personally a line I rarely use in power specs, only when I badly need cd reduction on CPC for some reason.

And while most dislike it, I enjoy the bigger health pool, bosses finally feels like bosses (I don’t like the weaker but faster attack however).

I don’t think anyone here really minds it; not sure if you’re mainly talking about fractals or in general here, but the issue with fractals is that condis are untouched and they’re only punishing direct damage (also, underground facility boss is painful due to lack of condi-scaling)

Yeah we ran fractals until now and when we wanted to talk to him, he was disabled and we wondered why.
My guess was that it’s because of the bugged attuned rings, but that wouldn’t justify disabling the whole merchant.

So, $60.00 for 3 years makes $20.00 per year. That’s about $1.66 per month. They also gave us 3 new maps for free, fractals for free, and the living world seasons 1 and 2 for free. It seems a bit unreasonable to be upset over $50.00 for the expansion…

It’s not the price of the expansion or that they’re locking new content behind it, that’s fine.
It’s that people are upset existing content (which originally went to 80 and even past that if you didn’t leave) is now technically requiring HoT on higher scales except you manage to turn in massive amounts of infusions/gold (and even then you won’t exactly hit the required 150 AR for scale 100)

As far as i remember, core game include 50 fractals levels. 51 to 100 are added with HoT, that’s normal for it to be locked for core player imo. You can still play 1 to 50 with the core game.

The real problem is only about the reward gating, coupled with dungeon nerf. That’s all.

Oh, you are simply unable to access difficulties higher than 50 if you don’t have HoT? I can’t try it out of course, but I was under the assumption you can run any difficulty.

Well you can. But you are just getting rekt by agony, that’s the same as saying you can’t.

You should easily be able to get at least to 60 by just having a full ascended set, a bit further if you add higher infusions to rings and back (+10 Infusions are rather reasonable now, looking at about 40g per +10 and at least the frequent fractal runners should have enough of those) should get you to around 70. Afterwards it really gets brutal, yes; but at least for some more scales you can deal with the agony by dodging the attacks and if you get hit, it shouldn’t outright kill you – just requires more skill to stay alive.

They do randomly drop from the adept, veteran and champion chests of the mists you get for completing a series of fractals. My guild has currently started a new spreadsheet for droprate research but it’s too early to say anything about droprates yet.

Is the spreadsheet already openly available (for others to look at it) or is it still “secret”, so to say?

You get them from salvaging golden skins and completing levels 75-100. level 100 also gives a golden skin and I got one golden skin from completing the regular skin collection, which makes 4 golden relics in total.

Ah, I see. Makes sense as I didn’t pull a golden skin yet, didn’t bother buying my last few skins and I only managed to pug my way up to 70 yet.

I assume they can’t randomly drop out of chests from 75-100 fractals.
