Yes, a dry top dungeon would be great, I think everyone here would like that, especially if it introduces some nice bosses, acceptable rewards, maybe special skins which can drop from the end chest like the Aetherpath with a design like Arah which really feels like an open dungeon for me with a few sidepaths here and there and being an actual city you can explore (+ all those mountain goat adventures you can have there).
But as much as we want to, ANet most likely does not.

Not sure if Wardens can block/reflect the bolt and I’d assume temporal curtain can’t either.
Wardens can block e v e r y t h i n g :-)
I know that they’re magic projectile eaters and I’m amazed every time they do.
It’s more about the fact where the projectile spawns and where it hits; If it hits you at a point higher than the Wardens (for example) can reach…
I assume if his necrid bolts can hit you even in melee range, you’d run out of defensive options way too fast.
Or encourage the practice of 100% reflect uptime… whalecum back mesmers!!!
Then you’d need a lot of classes with reflects in your group. Not sure if Wardens can block/reflect the bolt and I’d assume temporal curtain can’t either. If every projectile reflect/destroy skill can reflect the bolt however it would be better. As usual though necros would get the short end of the stick this way.
2 years from now… I hope I will have found something better to do with my time.
But if I don’t then 2 years from now… I guess I’d like to see more dungeons, perhaps permanent SAB, new races and new fashion, and the extinction of the Sylvari race.
I’ll be happy with dead sylvari and asura
I approve of your disapproval.

and the extinction of the Sylvari race.
nooooooooooo
Lastly lazy fixes of glitches and bugs (invisible walls and such) instead of really getting to the root of evil made “exploration” in arah nigh impossible while still allowing fancy exploiters to skip 90% of the bosses, including lupicus.
This pushed me enough to take a few multi-month long breaks, too. Mountain goating was so much fun, but they decided it was easier to kill it than make bosses unskippable. A huge source of fun was taken out of the game for me when they put up those walls. I still have a buried hope that they will do the right thing someday — make the bosses required for rewards and take down the walls. It still kittenes me off that I can’t explore the dungeon as freely as I used to (without making any profit, btw), but folks can still skip Lupi and sell.
#GiveUsBackArah
As for some of the stats, I’m at 1.5k hours and have 86 stacks of Hobby Dungeon Explorer. I’m sure that’s a fraction of what some of you have (lol @7.5k hours swifty), but it sounds like a lot to me O.o
You’re wrong. I can show you how to get to all of the places, for example that old coral. Mountain goating will always survive. ALWAYS.
Are you offering mountain goat tours?
More magical stuff
I wrote directly to the mod team but it seems they favor lunatics over there too. :/
What a kittening cesspool….And we’re the toxic community!
In the eyes of the PHIWs, people like ranique are saviours.
Reddit always was a hellhole though.
If it doesn’t affect their precious living story or fledgling esports, they’ll do something about it next year. Or probably 2015.
Wait if next year isn’t 2015, in which year are we living then?
so come on – bump the reward from dungeon bosses and get rid of the coffers/boxes/backpacks they drop which have nothing valuable inside.
The bags have some items that can drop and have some worth.
Although yes, we’d need some better rewards, but that’s probably not going to happen.
4.576 hours across 634 days, I bet approximately 1.000 hours of those are idled because I let the game run when I do whatever.
220 stacks of hobby dungeon explorer.
Speaking of bugs, have they fixed cliffside yet?
I hope we’re not talking about Alphard-esque timescales to revert whatever broke?
Do you know Valve’s timescale, Valve-Time? Yeah, ANet has ANet-time. It’s just as bad.
Hopefully it will be fixed today, but I doubt it.
@Spoj: Yeah, but ranique makes it sounds like everyone’s after him just to troll him because we’re toxic people who should go play with dolls because we have no social skills.
I agree.
However, my Sylvari Ranger never really got a lot of love & attention (mainly because I just can’t get into rangers) and – what what I just noticed two or so weeks ago- looks like a purple clone of Mai Trin in terms of armor.
Oh btw, in case anyone wonders… We tried out how the Lupi-Reflect looks with 25 stacks empowered on him. Kinda funny that you can still burst him through phase 2. I guess most people here saw that video anyway, but w/e.
I’m seriously thinking of paying someone to farm geodes and open chests for me.
I so want one of those blasted bug weapons.
Gosh. So fashionable.
/drowns himself in tearsSure, i know all the locations.
Ironically enough, I dropped it exactly 15 mins ago and I was gonna post about it as soon as the sandstorm was over.
Maybe the game felt I was down so decided to give me a treat.
At least I like to think of it like this.
…
Now I don’t know which one to do first because I want all of them…
Sob.E: I got another one LOL
What the hell! I’ve been farming dry top for DAYS and I get 2 at 1hr distance from each other. Jesus. Should I buy a lottery ticket?
lol, it was the exact same for me. 120~ lockpicks without anything and the last five yielded me two.
Congrats!
//What the actual kitten is wrong with this ranique-guy…
///“Yep, after Dragon’s reach part 2 ANet will take a little break.” <- From that thread. A break with the living story? Wouldn’t mind if they finally fix some bugs (as if).

I don’t think it would be too hard. Each skill would need have to flags like “big damage”, “active defense”, “stun break”, etc so game could keep track of your skills. Enemy attacks would also have to be flagged like “control skill”, “defense”.
Then during skill selection, AI would check target/targets for flags and increase priority of certain skills. Then during it’s random selection it would more likely choose more appropriate skills.
Only problem is I have no idea how much processing time AI can use so this could already be too much. Also people don’t generally like too good AI.
Also enemies need actually decent skills to make use of any AI.
The combination of an extended array of skills + checking 10-15 skills of each player + the skills of the mobs sounds like it is too long probably.
In all honesty, if we had a decent AI for the enemies so that they would actually react we’d already make a huge step into the right direction. Giving them the ability to dodge (well, maybe exceptions like Lupicus shouldn’t exactly dodge but use something else… A dodging Lupicus would look weird I guess lol), let them run out of AoE, give them skills that synergize and let them put those skills to good use… (gw1 had that with War in Kryta and Winds of Change) etc.
I know something that helped me a lot when getting used to Mai Trin at first was putting my graphics on absolute minimum settings. You wouldn’t believe it to make that much of a difference but try it and see for yourself.
You’ll mutter “holy sh__” outloud in surprise at how much easier it is to react on time when in groups, especially with those guardian animations blooming the hell out of the place.
Crap! Does that work on Archdiviner too? What a GREAT idea!!! Can’t wait to try it out! Having massive problems dodging said bosses on my full height and size norn guardian
This would be a gift from the gods.
Well it doesn’t change anything about his hammer cleaving from a mile away, but yeah it should make it easier to notice his animations.
His cleave feels like it has a radius of 600. But then again, so feels Mossman’s cleave…
The tip is pretty useful though, thanks.
I just keep gravitating back here. :/
7393 hours and I’m bored out of my mind. But keep coming back and doing same things over and over.
7.4k hours? And I thought I was bad…
As for me… I just enjoy the game as a whole, even with all those problems it has. I enjoy dungeons, since I usually only have 1 or 2 persons I could even ask I pug a lot which really spices things up sometimes, I enjoy exploring the map (I guess I’m one of the few here, but I keep finding new things every now and then whenever I 100% the map with a new char), sometimes I even enjoy the mapchat of different zones.
What really helps though is the combat system; with all that active defensr it reminds me of Hack’n’Slay games which I’m a sucker got. Normal MMOs never were interesting for me, only GW1 managed to catch my interest, but even GW1 was vastly different from “generic” MMOs.
Don’t know the count of my hobby dungeon explorer, gotta check tomorrow/later.
You mean her Pistol Spin? You gotta dodge that then, no way around it as it’s unblockable. Either with a normal dodge or Blurred Frenzy. If you’re ranged you can try to run between the shots.
When I play Mesmer, blink helps me quite a bit, as does Mantra of Resolve in case I get hit by her autochain.
Sword/Sword is a must because of the block on skill 4 which allows you to block all her teleporting shots (which are undodgeable, so only use your block for when she does this attack) and I usually pick Sword/Focus as second weapon set, mainly for the barrage phase to get some swiftness.
I’m not sure if untraited wardens can absorb her Pistol Spin, but I somewhat doubt it.
So you’re suggesting I could collect a cubic ton of those journal’s and then level up an character to 80 inside the tutorial without the hassle of collecting tomes of knowledge? Fine with me, but I doubt that’ll happen.
After 5 or so replies I stopped reading. It hurts.
I saw a Spotter/Frost spirit/sword main-hand/pet kitty ranger in an AC PuG today. I couldn’t believe it. I was amazed..
A rare but beautiful sight.
There are no beautiful sights when Ivan is around
You’re right. You’re forced to close your eyes to digest the beautiful sounds from his mouth. swoons
Uhh okay.
You’ve obviously never heard his opera.
I certainly didn’t.
You ought to. Ask him.
I’m not sure about that.

20 runs in a row without any bonus reward inside the daily chest. I’m blessed.
Everyone is an exploit.
Fixed
Heh.
Just thought I’d post this here.
Yesterday I got reported for harassment by a ranger for meleeing the Nightmare Tree in TA. hohum.
Everyone knows melee is an exploit.
I didn’t get hit as hard as some people I know, but I still consider the loss of over 20 levels – I think i was 50+ – absolutely outrageous. If there were ANY other game out there at the level of GW2 for me I would’ve quit in a heartbeat.
Actually, I would’ve quit after the ascended crap.
Yeah, it’s ridiculous. Especially since they didn’t even gave out any kind of compensation which is the least they should’ve done.
I certainly never will, even though it didn’t even remotely hit me as hard as other people.
Well, don’t they say hope is the last thing that dies out? It must be like that, else we’d have no strength to live. You always hope ’til the bitter end
True.
Btw, your signature… It really works for me. Every once in a while I forget what the link was for, I click on it and then I get remembered by that kitten…
Eh, I know you were moved by good intentions. It’s just that I have a little nervous breakdown whenever I think or someone else says “LS” or “farm”.
I’m doing the achievs and I’m really bored out of my mind… they’re mind-numblingly easy, all but I’d say a couple. The thing is.. I have 20 lockpicks left, and about 5 achievs I’ll do today. Once those are over, I’ll have no other way to gather geodes or lockpicks but to farm events. Compared to that yeah, achievements ARE indeed skill-based.
The idea makes me really want to drown myself.
This is one of the most disgusting and badly made grind-based, rng reward systems I’ve seen.
GG.
I’m still hoping that you get an insect as part of finishing a episode (because for a normal quest would be too much), but I guess that won’t happen.
That depends on the map you got on sadly.
Lower tier maps will not provide as much geodes and doing those events over and over for multiple skins for example (or in my case for all the cooking recipes – yes I’m weird like that) can be a bit mind numbing.
And you can only get the recipes the weapons on a tier 4+ map and while the chances are acceptable that your map will get there, it isn’t naturally a given. Especially now that most people who wanted those skins are done with theirs and the maps tend to become less organised again.Edit: I’m not saying it’s not doable. And there are worse grinds out there, especially if a large amount of rng is involved. I agree on that part.
Yeah, the tier of the map is an entirely different matter again. I just think it’s okay that you have to farm the geodes if you want the weapons. Fossiles are extremely meh though.
I actually have 3 of the fossiles stuck in my banktab because I don’t need them and I can’t sell them/give them to friends who were not that lucky.
And I can understand if someone doesn’t want to farm the 400+ geodes you need to craft one of those weaponsThe food I can only repeat I find truly weird to be accountbound.
But then again, the 400/350 geodes neither take all that long to collect nor are they bound to any RNG. So I think it’s okay that they are account bound.
I so wish they would make geodes and the fossiles tradeable. And the bloody food you can cook with the cacti. Why is the ready-made food accountbound?
Oh, I forgot I knew the answer, occupational therapy for PvE players.
I couldn’t care less about the geodes, but yeah, the food and the fossiles should be tradeable. I was lucky as hell when I got two, but it took forever. I’d rather just bought them, or bought the lockpicks, or whatever.
Just do the LS, gives you a few lockpicks and geodes on top of that. As boring as it may be.
The waypoint conundrum quest from the last Episode seems to have baggies with a high dropchance for charged lodestones; half my characters got a charged lodestone with a few onyx lodestones on top of it. Yes, it’s mindnumblingly boring, but if you really want one of those… Maybe start off with one char, open chests with the lockpicks you got and if you can’t get an insect, repeat.
Using? Spamming.
You! You took down your SE-lfg the second I wanted to join!
Well, now imagine using the facecam while drunk and then showing them how to make gold.
Man, my party filled with total scrubs that didn’t ping gear and actually told me to get out of the party because I wanted them to respect my requirements…
So I left, booting them all out
And yeah we’ve got the idea. Now i should advertise elitism so we get some love
lol, PHIW’s so toxic.
Here are some fresh words for you, forum bug
Update on my stream performances :
- usually 20-30 viewers
- facecam brings 40+
- drunk brings 70+
- how to make gold stream gets me to 150+Guys, I’ll move to BLTC forums, cya
You! You took down your SE-lfg the second I wanted to join!
Well, now imagine using the facecam while drunk and then showing them how to make gold.
We gotta revive it!
If it ends up like Malrona, it would also be unblockable, right? Now that would be messed up.
12 hours without post? pah.
The easy and obvious fix that would “fix” this and perhaps to a lesser degree FGS would be to make it so he doesn’t get stuck in the wall. No need for negating reflect on another boss. That would be a reasonable fix and would make him slightly harder.
I don’t think FGS should be fix, Lupi just shouldn’t be able to kill himself by reflecting his own damage back at him. The Jungle Wurm was like that and ArenaNet fixed it 2 weeks later.
because the jungle wurm is a world boss thats mobbed by hundreds of players gives a guaranteed rare or exotic with a chest that has a higher chance of giving you something really expensive.
And reflects shouldn’t trivialize open world encounters. That’s what the zerg is for.
Seriously, has anyone ever seen an open world boss actually fail? I haven’t :-/ All the reflects did was make the guaranteed reward drop a little bit faster.
It actually took the reward from a lot of players because he died too fast. Teq and Three Headed obviously fail, sometimes Jormag does too. But other than that…
Nah, too hard. Just have them mail the gold every day at reset. Easy!
41,75g every day per mail? I’m okay with that.
Why not just remove everything inside dungeons and give us the reward upon entrance?
2 imo. It is a bit longer, but both Belka and the Abomination are little more than punching sacks. Alphard may take a few tries but is certainly doable and Brie… in the worst case you can still get help or bug her out.
Soloing p3 may require a portal device, depending on your class.
If you have friends, you could also start with p1 which is even easier imo, but you can’t solo Shoggroth due to the mechanics.
Like seriously. I haven’t done this path in months because this fight is so broken now. It does too much damage and it’s literally impossible to do without wiping.
Sorry but if you wipe on ac spider queen there’s something you are doing wrong.
And I’m surprised when people don’t read the lfg… Explains everything.
