…and the Shaman is FIXATED on the ele. All I could think was she was wearing tank gear. I couldn’t understand why the Shaman was just… all over her.

I pretty much always have fullaggro when I play my ele. I can join a fight a minute later, the second I run into aggrorange everything is after me. Feels like Ele has a natural 100% aggrobonus.

//Mossman is way worse than Archloser imo, even though they both have what feels like 600 range cleave. For Mossman it’s the environment which doesn’t let me see crap + dancing daggers which I can’t see for hell, aforementioned environment doesn’t help with that. Gouge is also annoying but only because I can never really make out the radius of the attack and sometimes end up getting hit even though I thought I was standing out of range.

Sure but I always use my ele. It’s never happened to mine. Which is why it confused me

I’d like to say it’s because you’re Asura, buuuut that wouldn’t work out.

Even if I’d be for multiple ways to get the Stone, it won’t happen. It CAN’T happen. ANet had a whole ton of kitten to explain otherwise. They never changed something like this, they never will and can’t anymore.

Never changed something like this? What game are playing?

They’ve added alternative recipes to a couple of the previously Fractal-only backpieces.

They’ve added most of the S1 rewards for laurels.

Perhaps most significantly, they’ve added the Arid achievement track to PvP – which awards a fossilized insect on completion. Remember all the complaints about that item? The result has been an alternative method of acquisition. And rightly so – games are for fun, not ruining your evening, grinding rubbish you can’t stand.

Which fractal only backpieces?

That’s something different because beforehand, they were timegated. This is still the only way for people to acquire it if they didn’t get it back then, back then being whatever part of the LS gave out the reward.

The Arid track wasn’t a “response”, everyone knew that the Arid track was coming, but adding it during the first patch for example would’ve been stupid since we didn’t even have the insects there for example. So they waited for their midseason-break to add it with the last patch, which is completely logical. They planned it before the first LS2-Patch even was released.

Also, PvPers get alternative ways for almost everything because if they didn’t have their reward tracks (or pre-reward tracks the skin chests), they’d have pretty much nothing because everything can be either acquired in pve or wvw.

Did ANet change the WvW-requirement for 100% map exploration? No they didn’t, even though people complained for ages (I like to assume every now and then people still complain about it, but not in the forums)

Did ANet made the WvW-Jumping Puzzles into a non-combat zone? No. Instead, they even added LS-achievements which required you to go through Obsidian Sanctum again and again.

I understand what your saying but to be far anet has been saying and I agree that LS should stay with LS, Fotm to be far is far from LS (besides that 1 map) and currently isnt about of this LS. So it does make sense that we SHOULDNT need relics. It doesnt even make sense to need relics or AR either (it doesnt fit well) it feels forced on us.

About the +5ar, it became account bound 2 weeks before this back came out… hmmmm I wonder why…. :/

The Lost Shores is (kinda) a LS update, introduced Fractals.
Both Molten Facility and Aetherblade Retreat were added to Fractals along with the Thaumanova Reactor (which gives some Lore I guess), all of this during the Fractured update as part of the LS.

Thus, Fractals are very well a part of the living story.

Dungeon Daily Rewards, are they justified?

i hope Anet takes deeper interest in the dungeon reward rebalancing sometime soon.

It sadly won’t happen. At least not this year, or next year…

But then again, from what I’ve heard ANet (or at least a few devs) talked at gamescom about making the game even easier. I don’t know if that’s true, but if it is… well.

- Nerf berserker builds
- Buff healing and toughness, make supportive builds more important
- Nerf reflection skills
- Nerf warriors
- Nerf eles
- Introduce more puzzles that require at least 4 players, so people will stop soloing dungeons
- Add more immersive npc dialogs in dungeons, like the ones we have in Aether path and in the living story instances, make then unskippable

For a second I actually wasn’t sure if you’re trolling, but then I’ve read the last line.

While I agree that it should be skipable, can’t we also argue that the player base should respect the time and resources the devs and writers have spent on getting that dialogue into the game?

We want this only for achievement runs. No one who likes the lore minds the dialogue while playing through it normally. Those who do listen to it once anyway. So this isn’t disrespecting in any form imo.

The key is options. In a game with such a diverse player base, due mostly to the vast amount of both casual and hardcore content, there should be different ways to get items required for new crafting recipes. Just as you can get materials from both salvaging and gathering. Just like you can make some mats you have professions leveled for and buy the others on the auction house. Being able to buy the mists stone by other means other than the incredibly niche fractals would be great.

Wait we have hardcore content?

Even if I’d be for multiple ways to get the Stone, it won’t happen. It CAN’T happen. ANet had a whole ton of kitten to explain otherwise. They never changed something like this, they never will and can’t anymore.

Hey folks!

This week’s contest is: show me your ninjas! (No outfits allowed)

I want to see an awesome armor combo which gives a sweet ninja feel of any armor weight. The winner will receive a Belinda’s greatsword skin from the gem store (or a prize of equal value).

On you entry, post your screen, a list of armor pieces, and your dye scheme. They don’t have to be full abyss (I realize that’s pretty ninja!) And I’d love to see some creative takes on this task.

Good luck to everyone! Contest ends Thursday evening EST.

There can be only one.

Guess I’ll have something to do during the night…

I use RL money for gem shop stuff. Because… well. I support anet when they produce fashion.

Just so you guys are aware, ALL special weapon skins are in the gem store. Kasmeer staff marjory dagger and axe broham shield and mace and rox quiver and shortbow.

I just checked… 10 hours or so ago it was 857 gems for 100g, now it’s 628. While the designs are indeed good, I can’t bring myself to support ANet with money as of now.

When you have disposable income it becomes easy to justify things like shiny pixels and a cleaning lady (best 200 a month I’ve ever spent)

It’s not about having disposable income or not imo, instead it’s about ANets focus and them neglecting parts of the game, not fixing important bugs which are in this game since release (I’m glad they fixed the Asura-PvP-Problem, but the messed up AoE-Indicators still remain for example). Even though I have to say that the LS is getting better and Dry Top is a wonderful map, they have to fix mistakes they made before I can see myself supporting ANet with real munies again.

I will never get the fascination with charcoal sylvari, or burnt twigs as I tend to call them if I’m in a slightly meaner mood.
For me a plant has to be colourful, vibrant. Otherwise its a dead plant.

And before someone piles in with “but it’s a necromancer”. Well commonly the necromancer herself isnt dead/undead, just a practitioner of magic involving the dead/undead. There are cases where they count among the undead themselves, but at least not in guild wars, as far as I know. (Could be wrong about that, admittedly.)

Edit: To clarify: I’m not saying that the designs don’t look nice or interesting. But they just rub me the wrong way.

Some people pick charcoal for their Sylvaris when they want to use a cultural armor. If you pick a color, the cultural armor will take over a bit of your Sylvari’s color, making dyeing it a bit more difficult at times and/or leaving trails of your Sylvari’s color on the armor iirc. Not sure if this applies for TA-armor too.

Otherwise… It makes for some interesting looks imo, I have a charcoal warrior with abyss/redemption armor and yellow skin glow which doesn’t look too bad, at least for me. :P

Well we don’t know what’s coming except for dagger semi-cleave. Survivability can mean a lot.

I might see things a little too bleak here, but I honestly wouldn’t put it past them.

So they’re giving more survivability… to a class which didn’t need any more survivability in PvE…

I understand this might be cool for PvP, but it really sounds like they are ignoring all the problems in PvE. Cleave on Dagger autoattack wont do anything, Necros need some form of team support to justify their existence in dungeons.

Well, a block or an additional evade would be useful for some encounters in PvE, especially since a certain someone in fractals has an undodgeable attack.

I’m curious to say the least, but I’m not getting my hopes up as of now.

But when I have a sword/horn and LB war, a thief who’s camping shortbow and, who would’ve known, a GS-camping mesmer and they all didn’t bother to listen to advice then they have no godkitten right to QQ about Mai Trin being difficult.

Me not using GS on my mesmer at Mai Trin was apparently one of the reasons my former fractal group kicked me out … the other was refusing to use GS on the champ group (rabbit/shaman/ettin) in the harpy fractal …

There are (a lot of) people like that around, and they are totally certain they’ve got the game figured out and are playing the best possible way.

My first reaction upon reading this was “You can’t be serious?”. But you are serious. I’m with Novaan and deSade (and most likely 90% of the people here). This is just sad.

Well, to give them credit, they were the people who introduced me to dungeons in this game in the first place, and made me love this part of the game. I did my whole dungeon master title on my main account, and most of my 2nd account, with them, learned a lot, and had tons of fun.

It’s just that eventually I kept evolving past the point they were comfortable at. I like to try different things, learn to do things differently, and overall improve my way of playing. To them, the definition of a successful dungeon run does not depend on the time the run takes, but rather how often people are (not) downed. As such, me trying to learn to use the onehand sword on my mesmer or ranger made them uncomfortable.

It’s still sad. Even more so if you stay alive while going melee.

Feedback can be placed IF there is a locust swarm on the wall

You don’t need a target to cast feedback. I guess someone has tried and it didn’t reach high enough?

It simply spawns in front of you, it does not care about any terrain changes. I managed to cast my feedback into the ground once and I doubt they changed that by now. //Also you’d have to make some room between Lupi and you and as everyone knows, Lupi likes to cuddle starting with p2.

Thanks Stompy. For #3, where do I get my gear from? I understand in a lot of MMOs people buy gear from auction house/trading posts… but if like other games, don’t others have to get that gear from dungeons? If so, seems silly to buy gear just to run a dungeon where the gear comes from?

Hoping that isn’t the case with this game… obviously someone must have run the dungeon before they had the gear that came from it

Endgame in GW2 is purely cosmetic. So items of the same rarity/level/type will give you the same stats. So you can get exotic equip with stats of your choice without setting foot into a dungeon, but if you want skins from that dungeon (and possibly one of the three associated stat combinations each dungeon offers) you have to run it.

A lot of items can drop everywhere though and aren’t bound to a certain dungeon, instance or whatever, so you can freely buy those in the trading post. There are also crafted armors and weapons which offer the exact same stats.

If you find an armor you like, possibly even with stats you like (berserker is the best you can use in pve, but takes some time to get used to), you can simply buy rare lv80 gear and slowly replace it with the exotic dungeon gear you can buy for tokens you get after each path you’ve done per day.

I actually did the two Fractal runs I still needed today (I had three relics lying aroudn from the last Fractals patch). I had a relatively pleasant experience. The first run (at level 10) was some of the most annoying Fractals for each phase (Asura/Charr/Thermanova/Mai), and it took a little while to work the kinks out, but the group was largely supportive and explained what needed explaining. The second was a level 9 run, and went considerably more smoothly. No real personal drama in either. I was not the best in either group, but I don’t think the worst either, I stayed alive more often than some, and feel I was pulling my weight on the various tasks.

My opinion overall hasn’t change though, while the runs were reasonably entertaining and the people involved were as nice as one could expect, I still don’t like Fractals, and hope to not have to set foot in one again any time soon, not until they break them up and allow you to run individual fractals one at a time, especially at lower levels.

What’s even the point of forcing you to run them in sequence? Do they hope you’ll die enough that you’ll run out of armor and have to quit? Not likely now that most people know the basics. Even in that first run where I had zero Agony resistance, didn’t know some of the new mechanics needed, and got trapped in a wall once, I still didn’t die enough to lose a single piece of armor. The only real hassle was trying to keep my inventory cleared. Why not just let people do as many or as few Fractals as they like?

If the issue is that people will skip the “hard” ones and just repeat the “easy” ones, then use the Matrix key system. Let people do whichever fractals they want, but make it so that once per day, if they do a “first tier” Fractal, they can earn a blue key, when they do a “second tier” one they get a green, and a red for the “third tier” ones. When they run a boss fight, the final chest can only be opened with a completed key. Keys would of course be based on the level tiering of the dungeons as well, so you could not complete a bunch of low level fractals then jump to a higher one for the boss chest.

Now you could do all four of these fractals in a row if you like, or you could do one per day over several days. You could even do 2-3 per day and collect up key bits, combine them all, and then run the boss several times in a row on the weekend to use them up, in any case you could never average more than 1 chest per tier per day, so if anyone wants to keep playing the way they’re playing now, they could and it would still be the most efficient way to do it, but it would give alternatives to people that don’t like to “lock in” to the full series.

I’m glad that you at least gave fractals another chance and – even if in the end you still don’t like them – at least had two pleasant runs.

About the length… Low-level difficulty fractals (up to 29~) can be done in approximately half a hour or so, depending on your group (and if you get the longest fractals possible or not), so I’d say that’s just fine – you just gotta get into it. I’m fine with the length too, it’s meant to take longer and be a bit of a challenge, which we’re severely lacking in GW2. Of course this won’t be liked by anyone, but that’s normal – there’s no content liked by everyone.

2) They “fix” Consecrated Ground to not work on walls.

That’s right. It’s gonna end up like wardens. Works on level ground (part of the time, anyway), but super iffy on a slope/bumps. Like blink getting snagged on a rock, etc.

I think I would actually prefer option 2. Consecrated Ground was never a very popular trait, and nerfing it would just put things back the way they were before someone figured this out, with pretty much no fallout.

They would have to fix other reflects the same way. Turrets can be dropped up there with supply crate (and probably the trait to throw turrets too). “Toss elixir U” comes with the ability to be thrown, with a 50% chance of being WoR. I’m not sure if feedback can also be aimed up there or not. A better option would be an invisible wall that extends above the visible wall.

Yes, Engi can do that, RNGsus has to be generous though.
Feedback can be placed IF there is a locust swarm on the wall which can happen sometimes. Temporal Curtain works too iirc.

runeblade’s right. idc what aent says selling dungeons is just wrong i need arah number four for my master dungon achevement but onyl groups on lfg charge for runs

why not just run 4 fun insted of cheatin and esploiting for profit?

isnt this game suposed to NOT b p2w?

I cannot understand your mindset.

If you want to do Arah P4 on your own, start your own group on the LFG. It’s not difficult to do. Join one of the Saturday morning Arah tours advertised by Ivan on these forums. Also, not difficult. Join [Noob] as advertised on these fourms, and ask one of the mentors to help you out. Also, not difficult. There’s literally nothing stopping you except for your own lack of any action. Or, I’m sure you’ve made friends in other areas of the game, yes? I’m sure you can find enough people to do Arah with you.

There isn’t any “cheating” or “exploiting” going on here. Just people running a dungeon path, and selling it. ANET is fine with this, and people doing this doesn’t really impact your ability to play how you want. Go do the path on your own, should that be what you desire, no one is stopping you. People selling a dungeon path seems to be one of the very few skill gated sources of income in GW2; GW2 needs more stuff like this, not less. Not only this, but people did similar things in GW1. Sell missions? Check. Sell runs to various places on the map so people didn’t have to fight there, or even complete large chunks of the game to get there? Check.

There’s no “pay to win” involved in buying a dungeon path. Getting the Dungeon Master title is not “winning”. Having to contribute zero effort for your completion isn’t “winning” either. If anything, this is “play to win”, because the people selling these paths are playing the game skillfully and being appropriately rewarded for it; dungeon path selling seems to be one of the few areas of the game where demonstrating a good level of player skill is more rewarding than just mashing buttons or the semi-afk training of events/world bosses/eotm/whatever cool new zero skill braindead level of required intelligence afk level of effort new farm spot there might be.

Low FPS. I usually play with around 15 FPS, sometimes it drops down to 5.

If it has to be an enemy then Lupi, simply because of all the tries I needed when soloing him.

Clockheart, spews Toxin and the gears strip boons, which have twice the density. In addition, you have to kill randomly spawning Toxin canisters before they detonate or they’ll start to fill the room with Toxin gas.

I don’t see how that’d stop a party from FGS’ing it down in 10s?

Make the room an open platform, pretty much like the Thaumanova Anomaly.

I know the fight – or at least I believe so – and I still fail miserably in the cannon phase fairly often.

Edit: Typos.

Well the cannon phase is quite annoying, especially since they hit for much more than they used to.

I mainly talked about the “lure Mai into electric fields and punch her”-phase.

I was referring to the revised, new, properly scaling version of Mai.

The only thing that semi-regularly gets me in the normal phase is that my poor little brain apparently has trouble processing the unblockable nature of the lightning spin. Every now and then I’ll eat some of those because my train of thought goes like “oh spin, no biggy, aegis is… kitten!”.

Heh, sounds a bit like me.

Dungeon Strategy/Skill

All i ever hear about are people complaining that this game actually takes skill, but when i get into a dungeon, what do people do? they don’t have any fun with it, they stack, they take the easy route (instant gratification) which requires no skill whatsoever, i don’t get the mentality of these people i really don’t. Am i missing something?

You win the internet for today. Where did you find that giff??!!!

It’s actually pretty old and far spread, at least I’ve seen it a dozen times. Still funny every time.

Lupicus now spawns mini Lupis instead of Locusts who try to kick you.

Nah, just being silly… I’ll see if I can think of something good.

I wonder who would win...

Yep Lupi would win.

Just imagine life drink when the lava elementals are out.

Once they’re convinced their stupid builds are good there’s nothing you can do. They’ll think they’re contributing 100%.

Sadly…

If they had that kind of humility and thirst to learn they’d already know how to do it, don’t you think?

I guess so. I still think they shouldn’t cry about a fight being too difficult if they don’t even try to adapt. If they try and they still get their kitten kicked I’m totally okay with them saying “the boss is too difficult” because they don’t cripple themselves during the fight and try to their best to fight her.

Well, the only positive thing I can say about my performance at mai is that I bring scepter/sword as a mesmer.
Can’t think of anything else… because I die at the first cannon phase.
Q.Q
Be understanding, noobs have problem at that boss. It’s actually pretty complicated mechanics-wise IF you consider the level of other bosses.

I never bring scepter actually.

It’s not like I expect them to survive Mai Trin flawlessly (or at all) because I know her skill level needed for her is higher.
I however can’t understand why people qq about her while not bothering to counter her or use weapons and skills better suited for that fight.
If you get tips for a fight you’re not good at you should at least try them out and not go “idgaf, yolo!” and then complain even more.

Now, even if the agony doesn’t hurt lupicus, does it reduce his heal? that could be a game changer.

Agony doesn’t even get applied iirc.

Although I guess Wethospu is right.

Argh all those people not bothering to learn Mai Trin or at least ask what may be useful against her and then qqing that she’s too difficult on a kittening scale 11 fractal

I’m probably one of the worst players on this forum at mai trin. but even I didn’t dare to say it’s too kitten level 11. That means the guy must’ve been pretty bad.
I approve.
Keep GS’ing as a mesmer!!!

I don’t even expect people to be awesome at Mai Trin.
