I hadn’t done fractals for months so I was a bit nervous. But it was fine! The group was mostly other semi-experienced people, and we rolled 4/4 on ones I actually like doing. Of course there is, but you’re still not meant to stack all that damage up against a single target, it’s intended to be spread over the full length of the charge and only a few of those ticks hitting each enemy. Keep using it until they decide to do something about it, but don’t pretend it’s working as intended.

To anyone complaining about fractals and pugs, you have a thread full of people like you. Why not try to band up together and do the kitten thing ?

The problem isn’t that it’s too hard, or too hard to find a group to do them. The problem is that it’s TOO ANNOYING, Fractals take too long to run start to finish and if they do implode part way through then all that effort is wasted. So long as this is the case I resent any attempt on ANet’s part of shoehorn me into them.

For them to get me to willingly set foot inside a fractal, they’d need to figure out a way to let me play ONE Fractal at a time. Obviously you wouldn’t get the full series reward for only doing one, but you should be able to do three fractals and a boss over four days if you like, and end up with the same reward for that as someone who does four fractals on one day (though of course he would get more rewards over time since he would then be able to repeat that each day).

I said that I believe 5 or so times, but they don’t want to apparently. Complaining is much better it seems.

It does. That doesn’t make it less broken. I’d love to see a change for this too.

Also, really, low level fractals don’t take long. I had runs with extremely bad pugs on 11 which were done in 30-45min, so you can do it on difficulty scale 1 in the same time. If you form a group with 4 people with the same mindset the fractal-run won’t “implode” suddenly as you call it as everyone wants to get through and everyone knows that the whole team is not as experienced with fractals.

Sure, you made your point. That’s what you should do if you dislike something; it is pretty much clear though that ANet won’t change it and if it’s only because of the enormous uproar that would follow. So you have to live with it how it is.

Lets not forget EoTM was added which is just a karma train, that would allow you to get to rank 5 in one evening. since you gain more wxp from that area than from wvw itself. One evening doing something you dislike via 5 evenings? Thats a weeks gameplay for some, doing something they dislike/find annoying/loathe.

Except you need to be rank 14 to get the gift of battle so….maybe its more analogous then you think? And the fractals only take 5 evening because of the time-gated daily chest. Its only an hour or so an evening vs a full evening of karma training.

Well, I complain about ME getting no rewards, because I’m one of the unluckiest persons in gw2. :P I see friends/pugs getting good drops left and right, although I do believe the droprate is a bit too low. Also, Fractured completely destroyed droprates and even though they said they modified the droprates, it doesn’t really feel like it IMO. But then again, I’m unlucky. So don’t take me as comparison for that.

However, it doesn’t matter since the backpack needs pristine relics, which are a guaranteed daily reward which drop starting at level 1 by now, so you don’t have to get up to lv10 first.

FGS is arguably broken, it’s no exploit but Fiery Rush is way too strong. But that’s another topic.

FSG, as it’s used, is definitely an exploit, just one that too many people use to ban them all, and that is not easy to fix without breaking the intended use for it. They clearly intend you to run up to an enemy and do the one lunging attack, maybe tagging 1-2 hits on other enemies along the way, not to corner trap enemies and deliver dozens of stacked flame spike hits to them. It’s kind of ridiculous for someone to be delusional enough to believe that this is the intended use of the ability.

Nope it isn’t. There even is a tooltip for the duration of the mini fire walls and how much damage they do. It also only works when used against walls or against enemies with a huge hitbox/if you’re immobilized and works better when chilled/crippled.
They even added that tooltip after it was known Fiery Rush can work like this iirc.

Succeeded in my goal of getting my prl up to 50. Also, have shpukders, helm, gloves, and boots of light ascended celestial (got 2 today) which makes it increasingly clear I should just be a support ele. ^.~

Also had a mighty lovely Coe run with dramen, kirin, striker, and one of kirin’s guildies (commandgasm LOL) and had my drunk kitten carried. Was fun. Would do again.

In unrelated news (I like those): Yesterday I decided to give my little ele some care. Went and got her a new set of strength runes since her old were trapped inside karma armor pieces and decided to check DEKeyz guide so I would be something more than a conjure vending machine and a few might stacks with fury. (Which was what I used my ele for so far, if I used her at all.)
Holy fuzzy feline. I knew ele was a higher skill profession compared to some others out there but the rotation alone on d/f – I dislike scepter and staff for some reason – almost made me go back to my little thief. Guess it’s time for my little flower to go back to school.

Yeah, the ele rotations are crazy. D/F has the “worst” rotation though imo.

If you infuse the ring you get a new item, i.e. the versatile simple infusion will be deleted and you have to put in a new one.

btw, using +10 AR infusions is quite useful when having multiple alts so you can easily switch it around while keeping the costs somewhat low.

A +10 infusion costs over 65g, whereas a +5 infusion costs around 2.5g. You’d need ~26 alts for the costs to be even as opposed to just equipping everything with +5 infusions, that is unless you’re talking ascended armors as opposed to trinkets

Of course I’m taking armor into account, so it’s something you’d only take into consideration when wanting to do 50 and having multiple alts. I forgot to add that.
Also, moving around armor is considerably worse than just moving trinkets. And you’ll still have the bonus-AR in case ANet ever makes higher levels available (I admit, I just laughed a bit).
Also, you can farm the +1 infusions and you’re off cheaper when buying small infusions and upgrading them.

I’d start by making it a little bit easier for smaller groups.
My wife and I are now stuck on the last step of our personal story, because we have no friends in game who are willing to, or of high enough level to help us.
I understand, dungeons are meant to be a challenge for a full team, but when we can’t complete it because we don’t have enough people for a team, it gets frustrating.
I’m not saying make the mobs easier, or the fights easier, by all means. Challenge away.
But requiring 2 people stand still on pressure plates with elite mobs spawning left, right, and center is a little overwhelming. Not only because Destiny’s Edge is completely useless in distracting the mobs, but the knockback, pull, and gang-banging from the one’s they can’t distract makes it no fun at all. We tried for over an hour to get past the first door last night and couldn’t. Sounds pathetic, I know. It wasn’t for lack of trying. The two of us can take the mobs or the door, but not both. So, my idea for redesigning it is not to make it easier, or shorter, or completely change it. My redesign is to make it more 2-man friendly, by leaving one person to distract the mobs, while one opens doors.

You do know the lfg-tool exists? It will greatly help you. There’s always someone who wants to do Arah story.

Two of them said it was their only character, one said it was his third, one said it was his second, and of course it was my third 80 as well. The lowest AP score of the entire group was mine, at 3,486.

You mean to tell me those two guys who only have one character each, one with ascended weapons, and more than 3.4k AP each, have NEVER done the CoF story?

I completed the CoF story for the first time with the rest of my guild when all of us were sub level 80 on our only characters, I had something around 800 AP.

m8, I’ve seen people with over 14k+ AP who have never set foot in a dungeon.

Your experience does not = everyone else’s experience.

As for stacking, stacking occurs when everyone is close to each other, this can also happen on open field and is done because combo fields, boons etc. have a very limited range.

So, we have this plant which was once under Mordremoth’s influence and it eats bloodstone dust. Inside the vision at the end we can see red “crystals”, which some people (including me) believe is bloodstone.

That means we basically have (or will have) proof of Mordremoth (and his minions?) eating bloodstone and thus going after it.

Any opinions on that? Or maybe a link to a thread where this is already being discussed or w/e.

I am probably going to stop with the scavanger hunt 80% done because of FoTM, I HATE all the dungeons with their “special” mechanics and exploit encouragment.

On top of that the people doing that kind of contend are by far the worst company to have in a game, by far worse that the spvp community.

Well, they made the price go up because the commander tag will also be account bound from that point on. So I guess that is a fair trade – What I however think is extremely stupid, all the different colors will cost 300g each.

I still think the commander tag should be obtained inside WvW, because money doesn’t make you a good commander.

They should just make it so that, when replaying instances, all the dialogue that isn’t needed is cut out and you only have the fighting etc.
This would mean you still have the dialogue on your first playthrough with your characters, but it’s like this in the personal story too and I assume my idea is a bit easier to implement than doing it account-wide. But I’m not sure. I know I’d be fine with either.

While I don’t stand a chance and I have no idea for a good screenshot (I hope that’ll change during the next hours), I’ll just shamelessly copy my old screen, where my warrior is enjoying the sights of Arah. (I’m sure with some editing this could make for a great wallpaper cough)

Shoving FotM down your throat? Wow, this is the FIRST time you really have to set foot into FotM for a reward that is – in wide parts – gained outside of FotM.
This has nothing to do with 12 hours playtime a day because a lv1 fractal run should take 30-45minutes if you’re not all that experienced, 60 if everyone is a firsttimer and doesn’t know any of the fractals.

…MMOs often only give you one possibility to get an item and it really is a good way to get people to try new content. Furthermore, in my opinion, people are way too spoiled in that regard. If ANet decides there is only one way, there is only one way.
As Lishtenbird said, there are multiple instances of items/things being bound to different gamemodes, which is because, I say it again, ANet has the train of thought that luring players into content with such things makes them try out content thay may have never touched otherwise and possibly liking it, thus participating in it more often. While this may not be true for you, ANet’s statistics show (or have shown back then) that it indeed does work. So this is one more reason to keep it in. As a matter of fact, I’d like it if all ascended equip would only be available inside fractals – because that is the only place where you need it. I’d be fine with a stat reduction to make them equal with exotic in return, but that will never happen.
Going on, 1000 Badges of Honor instead of 5 Pristine Fractal Relics? What a joke. You get Badges for achievements or the EotM-Karmatrain which only requires time. The relics on the other hand require time AND a certain amount of knowledge and skill, but at the same time, the required amount is low enough so that everyone can do those five runs.
You said you can’t find a new group for fractals? Open your own on in lfg, or – I think I’m typing this for the fourth time now and I’ll write it in caps just because everyone overlooked it for some reason – OPEN A THREAD INSIDE THE FORUMS LOOKING FOR LIKEMINDED PLAYERS TO RUN THOSE 5 LV1 FRACTALS TOGETHER. This way you’re sure that you have a set of people who won’t flame and will stick with you through the end because they want to have it done too. I’m actually surprised I’ve not seen a thread yet, either I’m blind or some of the people here just want an easy way out.
What I also think doesn’t help you guys is your negative mindset against fractals – Maybe your runs back then went to kitten, maybe the groups you had yesterday were kitten. That doesn’t mean fractals are kitten. Start them with an open mindset, say to yourself “okay, there’s no way around it, but I never REALLY tried it out, so lets do this and see if it won’t be so bad at all”. If you’re lucky, you’ll actually have fun during those five runs, if not you won’t. You can’t enjoy something if you go in there with a negative mindset.

In conclusion, the most important things for you if you want the backpiece, because ANet sure as hell isn’t going to back out of this – If they do, they have a lot of kitten to change:

- Open a thread inside the forums looking for likeminded players (and maybe a tutor if you’re lucky) for fractals to get your five runs done. If that for some weird reason does not work, open an lfg saying “lv1, new to fractals”
- Go in there with an open mindset, with a negative mindset about fractals it’ll be more of a torture than it would be if you go in there with an open mindset and at least try to enjoy it. Maybe you’ll end up liking it too.
- www.gw2dungeons.net is a beautiful website where you can look up infos for the fractals (and dungeons in general), either before or during the run.

//Oh btw, there were people complaining back then because of the WvW-Exploration. ANet didn’t back out. They complained about WvW-Jumping Puzzles and associated achievements, even during LS. ANet didn’t back out. Iirc they also complained about the Gift of Battle requirement. ANet didn’t back out. Not sure if they complained about the PvP backpack and the mistforged, but my instinct tells me there were people who did and if they did, ANet didn’t back out.

Oh and Fractals are still part of the living story. (The Lost Shores and Fractured releases, to a certain degree the two releases with a temporary dungeon path too because those got added to fractals)

I use my mouse side buttons for dodging as well and just try to time it at the same time with a jump. It’s pretty unreliable for me, and I can’t imagine it working as consistently as yours without a macro. I have only a Logitech M510 laser mouse lawl

After reading this post and all of the replies/suggestions, I headed out to the entrance of AC. I first looked at the lfg parties, and when they all wanted experienced players I decided to create my own lfg. I had never run a dungeon in GW2 so was kinda nervous. My ad said new player, first time dungeon, friendlies please! Within literally 2 mins the party was filled and man…what a blast! Not sure if I got lucky or if I should give props to the in game community but the party consisted of one other new player and the others were great with patience and generous tips. Such a great experience. So I’m going to go ahead and say create your own lfg, state your experience level (mine was none), and hope for the best. If your experience ends up being even half as good as mine, you will really enjoy the dungeon.

I can’t see why this should be banable. You can’t make money of this and you give up the cultivated vine skin if you choose to skip the step. If Anet would have problems with that, they’d add a restriction which prevents you from going further without the cultivated vine.

Hm. I usually only run 11 and 21 by now (because everything higher just is more tedious with pugs and I don’t get kitten at the end anyway), but I always run those with a friend, so I’d start in about… 13-14 hours, depending when she’s online.

Would that fit into your EU-fractal-plan?

I assume you guys did that, but did you use -repair and let the game check the files? That may help.

Eles are the best class for dungeons due to massive damage, support and fiery greatsword , also eles are one of the best classes in fractals so I recommend it, but all classes apart from necro have a place in dungeons, mesmers are a little weak but still viable

I cant survive on fractals ob my ele. Any tips? I only pug and I use 66002 staff build.

This seems like a contradictory statement… Pleasing EVERYONE could be achieved by making items obtainable by more than one way! Anet obviously sees this to some extent… See the PvP reward tracks: rewarding PVE dungeon rewards to sPVP players.

You’re right, sorry. Let me rephrase that then. ANet needs to make sure that you can acquire all kinds of different skins through different content so that it’s balanced out. This one happens to require fractals which makes sense.

Personally, I’m no fan of dungeon reward tracks but I guess they had to put those in since you were able to get dungeon armor through pvp from the beginning.

On a side note, the PvP-only armor that’s going to be released through a reward track is something I’m going to want due to collection reasons. I don’t like PvP and therefore don’t play it much. However I don’t see the point in complaining because every game mode should offer unique rewards – If you want them, you have to play those modes and maybe even find you’re enjoying that kind of content once you spend some time in there (that’s anet’s thinking process btw, they said that back then when people complained about wvw being required for 100% map – and guess what, they also said it works). If you don’t, that’s okay – in an MMO, you will never be able to unlock everything; if you would be able to, it’d be quite a kittenty MMO in terms of goals.

It seems you don’t quite understand the point. Bosses should not be oneshotted, that is right.
However it isn’t right to make skills useless either because ANet is too lazy to find a real solution. Don’t make Malrona’s poison trigger on reflects, gg. Limit reflect damage, gg. Hell, even just blocking the projectiles would’ve been good enough instead of the completely unblockable ones we have now.

I also still think they should add a note on Malrona for that poison because it slows you down, amplifies your damage and doesn’t count as regular poison when using condition cleanse (iirc). It doesn’t even have to be straight up telling you “poison amplifies damage”, but a hint would be enough.

I run 2+ fractals daily and I never encountered any of those bugs. I pug all of those runs, so I can’t control what the others do (and the others often like to run in).

Although I think the scaling should be fixed and the drill should move faster + the knockdown really is annoying as kitten.

Uh… the “challenge” mode for the boss of the new LS… where was the challenge? lol

It’s not about that the boss can’t be instagibbed anymore, that’s fine. It’s about making skills useless in situations where they shouldn’t be, that is a really bad thing.

Once you start doing fractal 11, take note of the boss moves that cause agnoy on hit. Learning how to deal with these WILL help you later on.

Agony starts at 10, but yeah. Also watch for new mechanics (there’s a small change at Old Tom for example)
