-The aoe indicator for his rapid fire/frenzied blast attack on phase 3 is fairly inaccurate.
I thought it was Phase two with the barrage of AOE attacks where the AOE indicator is really inaccurate and the attacks hit outside of the aoe indicators.
In phase 2 it only seems inaccurate, but projectiles can hit you in mid-flight. This is a huge pain and I’d like projectiles to be more visible, but it’s not a bug.
For the Frenzied Blast however, dodge behind Lupi, stay behind directly behind the AoE-Indicator, still eat damage. This problem is prevalent in the whole game und should be a high priority fix.
Well considering this got stickied, I hope you’ll keep it updated.
Sorrow’s Embrace Path 3
- Make the event where we have to destroy the minecart different, currently it is really simple and all you have to do is AFK underneath the ledge to not get hit by any mobs and range it.
My idea: Halve the HP and make it affected by conditions, as weird as that may be. That would make it go down fast enough imo.
They can’t make the attack unblockable, that screws over basically every normal answer to that attack. A global fix to reflects may also work, adjusting reflects to no longer reflect the same damage but instead turn it into a new attack based on the players stats. I’d actually really like that.
Reflects actually take the power of the enemy/player whose attack is getting reflected.
If it would take the power of the person who’s reflecting, that problem would be nonexistent.

For rewards: Let rings drop from 1-20, amulets from 21-40 and accessories from 31-50. This way you can get a full trinket set without the need to spend laurels or do guild missions/spend even more laurels + ectos.

What the heck is going on?
I could see reducing AC. It would make all the other increases to 1.5g make more sense, too, since AC is shorter/easier than they are. I’m not sure if it should be 1.25g or 1g, though. And I think CM is similarly tricky, especially compared to something like CoE. (But maybe CoE gets a pass because of the charged cores/lodestones?)
I guess one question is what’s going to be taken as the baseline for 1g, since there’s so much variation.
SE 1+3 and CoF 1+2 are the baseline I’d say. Pretty much faceroll and short on top of that.
AC at least has failrates at SQ, Kholer, p1 burrows, the last skip in p1, the traps at p2 (both after Kholer and at the boss). P3… Well, it has that annoying timegate. Pretty much all of those encounters/events just mentioned will probably fail even more often among pugs with the incoming FGS-nerf, except the burrows in p1 and the skip of course.
CM trash can completely wreck pugs, as can some bosses.
I think it’s also quite important to look at the rewards from the average player/pug group, as they’re the majority and if the rewards would be balanced after those who know every path inside out and are considered high end, every path would give 1g, Arah p4 maybe 1.5g.
Finally. After a streak of 33 runs which gave me nothing, I finally got something worthwhile; a Raider’s Chest of Ascended Boots.
Now for another streak of no rewards…

I can’t believe it, my friend and I thought “kitten it, yolo” and did 38 on top of that. I actually got a fractal axe from there (after a 19min Mai Trin… ugh, dead people left and right. Why do people think Longbow is so great vs. her?). Even though I have that skin already and would prefer the Mace, I guess I shouldn’t complain after that drought. :P

Something that would help is if you could gather a thread for each dungeon (perhaps you’ve all already created one per dungeon?), and list out the major changes that you feel the dungeons would need to make them better, in concise bullet points.
Separate thread for each dungeon helps separate the discussion of the said dungeons/suggestions. There are finite amount of dungeons so there is no risk of cluttering the subforum with 100’s of suggestion threads.

Well the aether skins should’ve been account bound in the first place like the fractal skins. There’s really no reason for a unique dungeon skin to be available on the TP. And value depends on the token cost. For fractal skins I’ve heard suggestions of something like 50 pristines which is reasonable.
It’s the feeling of “wow, I just got a 1500g drop”. That’s why they’re tradeable. That’s why every dungeon should have such kind of weapons.
Rare weapons which give you a reason to run a dungeon over and over again, to get one of those skins, either for own use or to make a ton of money.
I wouldn’t even mind a fractal weapon trading post where you can swap fractal skins with other players.
AC down to 1.25g, CM up to 1.25g IMO. CM can be a whole lot nastier than AC, especially for pugs.

I guess my idea with special objectives goes here. This is a general dungeon suggestion of course.
- Add daily bonus-objectives to paths/dungeons
- Three per day, an easy one, an intermediate one and a hard/challenging one
- May require a lot of objectives, but also gives you the possibility to toss around a ton of ideas and show players little secrets in dungeons they don’t yet know
- Example objectives may be “Finish the bonus event in Ascalonian Catacombs (the one where you turn off the lights)”, “Kill the Ooze King in Citadel of Flame p1”, “Don’t let Giganticus Lupicus eat any grubs”, “Finish the path without a team member dying completely”, “Finish the path with a kill rate of 75% or higher”
- Bonusrewards would be given out at the end of the path and give tokens, money, karma (and maybe loot), depending on the difficulty of the objective
- This may also give incentive to run paths multiple times a day, given the rewards justify it
- Possibility to also link a new achievement + title to it which requires to complete X special objectives, maybe even three achievements for each difficulty.
- Additionally, would go well with the suggested gambits for even more objectives.
Addition to Farnaz: If you attack her during her emote, you can keep her stuck. No statue needed.
I’d like to clarify a few points.
The Competitive Team is responsible for all more-advanced content in the game. This includes: PvP, WvW, and profession skill balance/game balance in general. This is a pretty big group of areas of responsibility, as you can see.
Why do you think one team should handle all those areas? I don’t know how big the competitive Team is, but I doubt a team of any reasonable size can cover such a huge area of the game.
As for what we want in existing dungeons? If it’s really that, bugfixes are the most important thing. After two years, the AoE-Indicators are still not precise; this can be seen especially well when fighting Mai Trin. Stand right next to the red circle, you still take damage. A lot of paths still have very nasty bugs, I assume Lilith’s thread has them all listed.

*Add dynamic events to dungeons, however this may be difficult given the design of them (except Arah)
*Events can range from “defend X” to “collect X” to “kill that boss that just randomly spawned”

Just finished my first run of the Aetherpath, which took our group five hours. Was really disappointed to see the reward of 2 gold when a ten minute CoF run gives 1 gold. Can this be increased significantly?
Five hours? Then you were either all first timers or pretty bad.
Aetherpath takes around 30-45min with a group who knows what’s up and isn’t too bad.
However I’d like to see a 3g reward for this path too.

I’m confused. I actually sort of “ragequit” a group yesterday.
Friend of mine and I decided to get AC story for some alts. We flag us simply as “story” and get 2 level 80 (one me, my necro never ventured much into dungeons before) and a few lowlevel ranging from 30 to 33.
Looks good enough.
Then someone initiates a kick for one of the lowlevels. And apparently the second pug agreed.
After a chat inquiry what the hell that was about gave no immedeate answer, my friend just reups the old lfg.
The same player joins us. 10 seconds later, our 2 “friends” kick him again.Then the other level 80 pipes up in chat “we need better team”. “wee need one god player”. Yes he wrote “god”, but I presumed that was a typo.
Anyway at that point my friend and I left. It was a frickin’ storymode. AC no less. What in all that is unholy do you need a “better team” for in that case?
Not even counting that he apparently dismissed my level 80 as “not good” for whatever reason, possibly being a necro. That I could have taken that as a personal insult just came to me later.Anyway we posted a new lfg. got the twice kicked player again and two others and proceeded to do the instance without a hitch.
Sadly, a lot of those people are out there…

Maybe they don’t want to do major changes to the other dungeons BECAUSE they are putting their resources into new dungeon(s)?It is also fully possible that it could be harder to build something as a part of something that already exists compared to something that is completely new and as such have no actual limitations.
The point still remains that they never actually mentioned anything at all about new dungeons, and as such it is rather silly that people are claiming that they did say that.
Then ANet would say “oh, we may do a new dungeon in the future” – telling us it may come, but when… no one knows, even ANet. But they didn’t even bother to tell us that.

Based on what I heard (and understood) they talk about changing stuffs on EXISTING dungeons. But as far as I heard there is not even a mentioning of NEW dungeons. So would love for someone to quote the exact line.

ANet, this post is far from enough. While you may read through the comments, it doesn’t feel like you’re actually listening and doing things with the community.
Why not put the SAB back on? While I don’t care much about it, there are lots of people who do. Not everything has to fit inside the living story, just turn it back on. No new content needed inside there as of now, I’m sure enough people enjoy it as is.
Giving up dungeons (pretty much)? I don’t even know what to say about this. You’re basically giving a whole section of the game (which always got the least amount of love in the end because WvW and PvP at least get changes + tournaments here and there) the middlefinger. We have the same dungeons for two years now, almost the same thing with fractals. Yes we got Molten Facility and Aetherblade Retreat where parts of each made it into the fractals and the TA-Aetherpath which has decent bosses, but is way too gimmicky. Your Quality of Life-Fixes in Dungeons rarely adress important things (sometimes they do) and in some cases, they don’t even do anything. AC p2 can STILL bug out after 2 or 3 fixes. You didn’t come around to fix the Lupi-Oneshot which is spreading like a plague and is done by every guardian ever by now, giving pugs who know about this to either the choice to OHKO Lupi or searching exclusively for classes which aren’t able to pull this off. The hammer-bug in Cliffside still persists, which can force groups who run 50 and get this as third fractal to completely restart if they’re unlucky. But I guess we all know resetting progress is an important part of the fractal experience, huh? Even if you hate/abandon dungeons (like you said in the reddit interview), at least don’t make them worse than they already are; either fix important bugs or leave them as they are, but don’t put invisible walls or make skills useless without saying anything (Malrona says hi.)

Why? 1 less thing to worry about during combat. You are getting constant heal and all you have to do is avoid fatal attacks = Invincible
Actually, Defiant Stance is invincibility for a few seconds, at least for non-condition damage.
Both heal skills have their uses.

Guys, I’ve been practicing the dungeon paths I don’t know and I realised how much I suck. I died at Aldus, I died at Ginva, I died everywhere and I didn’t even attempt aetherpath (done once). I’m so amazed at my badness I’m almost in tears.
What shall I do other than get gud?
Sucking at paths you don’t know (well) is pretty normal because you need to get used to the bosses first. So basically your only option is to get gud by doing the paths more often.
1.) State if NA or EU and ask here.
2.) If you don’t need the money and really can’t be kitten d then yes. Otherwise no, especially since Arah can actually be quite fun.
3.) I never tried the dungeon reward tracks but I’d say no.
So, with all this… can the champion ice wolf thingy from CoE get an animation for his aoe frozen ground thing?
ANet would never give us an advantage.

Also, add instant-party-down attacks with similar cast/wind-up times to the final bosses of all the dungeons. Yes even asura sized bosses.
That should make the whole party pay attention to boss tells.
Because I can watch an Asura with two types of burning on him while he’s being sandwiched by 5 characters who are norn or charr in the worst case. They’d have to fix that first, then I’d be somewhat fine with it.

While it is recommended not to start running to till you hit 80, I run dungeon all the time, matter of fact it’s my preferred way of leveling. Best thing i can say is start on story mode, run it a few times so you can get some of the mechanics of the game down. Most people on the server that i’m on say in the lfg post what they are looking for, everyone once in a while you will find a group that just doesn’t care if it’s all lvl 80’s or not. Just fyi my highest lvl char is lvl 77. I do have a question though for anyone who would like to answer, what lvl is recommended to start running fractals, can’t find a definitive answer?
Basically you can run fractals with any level as you get upscaled, but you should reach 80 beforehand, especially if you want to run 10+ due to agony you can’t avoid at the boss fractals.
I think that they should have a daily rotating dungeon reward system.
In this case, the reward for running a dungeon path is increased, but is only available for a specific dungeon each day.
For example, let’s say today is Catacombs day.
Now you get 3g for each path (and 1g for story!). All other dungeons will NOT have a gold reward today but will have the one time token reward.
Tomorrow is Caudecus’s Manor day. Etc.
Please note that the gold amounts are for illustration purposes only and do not reflect any type of “balanced” value.
