Agreed.
It’s mind boggling to me that Anet would purposely limit potential sales of these armor skins by making roughly 50% of each skin locked into a single color ?!?

Not all players like the blue and the blue does not work with all characters. Give the players the option to color the blue to what we want and watch sales soar.

I grudgingly admit that IF they were to do this the locked in ethereal blue would be replaced with multiple variations of Black (if the ‘stars’ floating in the blue remained visible) – Not a bad thing, DCUO had/has a similar skin for sale in their shop, and it actually was pretty cool.

Not going the wrong way, lol. Usual small drills indeed go in a different way because it’s intention is to make a hole. However, for bigger drills, such as the ones used by Scarlet here, are drilling in that directions because it’s intention is to move out all the dust and rocks inside. Once a rock is broken by the drill, the pieces are stuck in the drill and they slowly go up because of the direction of the spin, so it gets removed from the path and allows the drill itself to make a “tunnel”.

As usual, my english sucks, but i think you understand my point.

I too thought that the drill was going the wrong way, until I took a closer look at the bit itself. You can see multiple ‘tines’ or teeth off the drill ‘blade’. These are what break up the earth/rock and as mentioned the cork-screw acts as a conveyor belt to move the material out of the way.

One Question Though: Where is all the waste material?

The ocean of Tears and Cries of your first world problems amuse me to no end.

Reality check – the day is not over for the folks at Anet. They are a Washington state based company, and as of this posting still have many hours left in their day to get this going out the door. It will still be February 18th when it does launch … just maybe not for some of you, but they never stated the launch time was to your time zone. It was always to theirs.

So you didn’t get to play your ‘puter game’ and experience the update today, So what?
There are a hell of a lot of worse things in this world. Much, much worse.
When/if you folks mature, maybe you’ll come to realize that this is not worth stressing over.

It’s OK to be disappointed. It’s not OK to come to these forums and act as if you personally bankroll Anet, and imply that these folks are not working their hardest to put out a quality game.
Anet is not a faceless mega-corp. It is very talented people who are putting food on their families tables by putting out a product for some of MMO’s worst excuse for “fans” out there, who have nothing better to do than complain when they don’t get what they want … NOW.

I’ve seen the wings look perfect on many female models, and a few male models.

The problem I’ve had is the on my human Guardian. He uses the massive radiant pauldrons, and with these equipped, the wings look like vestigial stubs more than wings. When the shoulders are hidden it looks more natural , but ruins the overall ‘Paragon’ look I was going for.

They could have been a little bigger, but too big and they would become a distraction.

Elementalist – Torch

I don’t think so. A Warrior with a staff… doesn’t make much sense

Why not a warrior with a staff?
Staff combat is a historical and documented fact in many Eastern and Western martial arts traditions. Don’t think spell slinging, think melee.
I would agree at many of the skins would look out of place or far to fragile to be used in such a way, but there are also several that appear to be almost tailor made for that purpose

I have a more difficult time with a warrior using a sceptre.

NoxInfernus.2361

I’m sorry, but that’s what you get for leaving a valuable asset like that unattended in a war zone.
Several scenarios could have occurred.
1) A roaming enemy thief could have found your broom and made off with it (war trophy).
2) An enemy zerg targeted your broom and destroyed it (my condolences)
3) A friendly ally decided that your broom could better suit the war effort at another strategic location without checking with other team members (i.e. the Golem shuffle, or “Dude, where’s my golem?”)
4) Anet decided that unattended brooms are a type of siege, and so it de-spawned while you were at the forge.

All plausible.

Edit – Was this a sanctioned broom from the Black Lion Trading Company? Did you make all your payments?

No clue what many of you are complaining about.
After four attempts at Mari (one of which succeeded) I had enough fragments to open each lockbox at least once (4 times for the watchwork box).

My result was a many, many blues and greens, several rares, a good deal of Dragonite ore, 1 exotic zerker medium armor piece, Maw of the darned (take that ’kitten filter), and a new zealot recipe.

For the effort I put in, and the fun I had doing it, this was a great trade off.

Black Lion Changes / items – Meh. They need to make money. I won’t fault them for that.

True, but they could make it actually give us good stuff. Master Essence of Luck (50 one), really? We waste a key and can get that? Tonics and scraps should be guaranteed items in addition to the other two/three items we get randomly. They’re still not even close to being worth spending gems on the keys.

RNG is RNG. We call them gamble boxes for a reason.
If a player is not alright with ‘losing’ when opening these things, they shouldn’t spend their money/gems on them.

Greatsaw

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: NoxInfernus.2361

NoxInfernus.2361

I disagree with that. I think many PvEers would want the greatsaw even at its current price. In my opinion it’s the best looking greatsword in the game and I’d rather have that and be unique than have twilight like half the players in the game. If only I could afford it…

It’s a status symbol because of its rarity and price. Sure, Twilight is expensive, but a dozen of them are created every week, and over the last year the number of them in the game has grown. But there hasn’t been any “new” greatsaw skins created in over a year, and there may never be more of them added.

Exactly.
I don’t even look twice when I see players running around with Twilght/Sunrise/Dreamer. I pause for a moment when I see Howler, moot, etc.
I really take notice when I see Greatsaw, scythe, or Grinning shield – Because (even though I have them), I don’t see many player’s characters running around with them.
As time passes these limited items will only become more rare as players quit. The number of legendary items will only continue to grow. Sure, Legendary players will quit as well, but other players will continue to forge theirs (thus growing the ‘pool’ of those items).

What would GW2 be like with trinity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: NoxInfernus.2361

NoxInfernus.2361

Every week this topic, or one like it springs up asking for, or positing on, the trinity in GW2.
1.5 years after launch, it’s time to realize that this game is the way it is. There will be no implementation of the trinity. If you want to play a game with that mechanic, there are many, many fine (and much more not-so-fine) games out there for you to enjoy.

You tried it, you didn’t care for it. Move on and don’t stress about it.

As far as the question posted by the OP:
This game with a trinity would not have held my attention for the past year and a half.
As mentioned, the market is saturated with trinity centric games. GW2 going that route would have been just another title in my collection of games I rarely play.

Sadly, I feel that what is available on the TP is close to total. While I’m sure that some player’s may be holding on to one or even a few of these skins for future inclusion to the TP, I really don’t think there is a mass stock pile somewhere.

Banking that future returning players may lower the prices on this skin (or any 1st year Halloween skins) is not that simple. One must assume that these players, for whatever reason, didn’t apply them right away to their weapons. I’m sure the amount of unused pristine skins sitting in inactive accounts is likely very, very, few.

For the record, I purchased the Greatsaw, scythe, and Grinning Shield during the year one event for a total of 80g (if I remember correctly). I applied all three to my various characters weapons. I still occasionally use them (transmuting as required), but in retrospect, part of me is kicking myself for for not not having the foresight to hold on to them.
Hindsight … gets me every time.

NoxInfernus.2361

Biggest tip for new players I could possibly give : never buy anything from the gem store, you will be disappointed.

fixed, because Anet has no problem to change things you already bought.

I know it is easy to download a game and then click through all the ‘boring legal garbage’ to get on with playing, however we all agreed that …

“The Items, services or access to other specific forms of Content offered by NCSOFT in exchange for Gems may be discontinued, modified or removed from the Account by NCSOFT at any time in its sole and absolute discretion.” – See legal policy at bottom of this webpage.

We really don’t ‘own’ any of the stuff from the GEM shop – we are only paying for the privilege of using it for the life of the game, or until NCSOFT needs to remove it (for whatever reason).
We knew (should have known) that going in.
As far as RNG … well, that’s the preferred modus operandi of the Gem shop on items like these. As consumers we have the choice to ‘gamble’ or not.
After being burned a few times last year, 2014 will have me being far more conservative when shelling out cash to fund my GEM habit.

They are hardly game breaking, and can be extremely useful.

warrior + torment

Posted by: NoxInfernus.2361

NoxInfernus.2361

The other day in WvW there was a warrior with longbow wrecking people and he was laying down stacks of torment.

He was kiting me and i could not chase him without my health going down fast and he kept reapplying torment so it was hard to keep it removed…

The guy was pretty kitten good but i was surprised at how much damage he was doing and how often he was stacking up torment, i guess he had high crit (?)

Are sigils and runes of torment that good? I would have liked to see his build and gear.

Anyone have comments/opinions to share regarding warrior using torment?

I use a S. Sigil of Torment on my Rifle Warrior. Originally the idea was to use the torment as a buffer for the Bleed (rifle#1) against opponents that unwisely took limited cleansing. I found that with a high crit. my torment was going off fairly consistently and was a nice topper to the bleed damage
All in all it, was a happy accident and one I’ll experiment with my bow to see if I get similar results.

It has the right feel for a ‘land of the dead’, and can still be challenging and rewarding if you spend some time there and get to know the hot spots (this statement excludes temples and Champs, which are rewarding in their own way).
One hour in Orr will easily net me a few gold (again, excluding the above mentioned temples and champs).
For the higher level zones, I place Orr between Frostgorge (easy) and Southsun (curse you Vet Karkas).

Edit – I should point out that a higher Magic Find may also be a factor in my positive opinion of Orr (210 w/consumables and trinkets)

For example, I tired Mesmer multiple times as Asura, Sylvari, and Norn. I’m not sure what it was, but playing them was at best boring, at worst painful.
It wasn’t until I tried Human that it finally ‘clicked’ with me.
I had similar race / profession issues with my other characters.
