1) there are plenty of places to find ambients in ‘concentrated’ areas,
however
2) the cost involved in making the potion may deter people from trying to ‘cash in’ on the ToT market. Sure folks will try it out, but I see little long term damage as the fad wears off in a few weeks.
They were very quick to remove the free skins that you could get during the 2012 Halloween.
what free skins from 2012 could you get? I remember no free skins.
The only thing I remember was the temporary skins you could buy from a merchant for some silvers. They only lasted a few minutes.
Everything else costed some kind of cost.
You could get the very rare black lion chest ones (Greatsaw, Ghasty Shield, etc), or you could get the ones you made form very expensive recipes (The Crossing, Moon Shield, etc). You can still get and make all the stuff for these. I just got The Crossing last week.
Those were the weapon skins I remember.
A version of the devil horns that now cost 200 gems were given away for 0 gems through the Black Lion in 2012. They also didn’t limit it to one per account. You could grab as many as you had characters.
This being said, at the time they qualified as ‘town clothes’ so they were limited in use.
Once the wardrobe was activated the horns became regular headgear (and to what is being sold today).
TL:DR: omgsohappy the patch isn’t out yet
well this is a first
I like to sleep and its —-ing late here :p
Well go to sleep then. Get a good sleep and hit it hard tomorrow.
Well, I wish I could say that we (Mag) could have made it more interesting, and put on a better fight. Unfortunately, our recent implosion kind of limited what we were capable of.
I think it’s fair to say that Mag will be dropping down a tier or two in the near future, so we will likely not be facing off against you folks for a while.
That’s fine, it gives us time to rebuild.
Still, good tourny. GG all.
Anet has the right to disband a guild if the name violates their naming policy.
That being said, they usually offer to change the guild name violations to something that is within their policy before disbanding.
The only way I could see that this happened is if the guild leader/officer ignored requests to change the name, or the name was SO offensive that Anet had no choice but to disband.
It is disheartening.
no doubt about it.
No new classes, but certainly more skills.
Either new skills in the form of additional weapon selections for existing professions, or a nice offering of new utility and/or Elites.
yes, yes, I know they haven’t balanced the ones already in the game … guess what, that never happens. they were still balancing skills in GW1 when I faded out from that game 4 years ago.
Sadly, I don’t think we’ll see anything like a new profession, skills, or traits any time soon. They will want the new players (both China and NE/EU) to get comfortable with the NPE first, so that’s at least 6 months to a year.
Interesting idea, but we kind of already have that.
Any dungeon can be run with a group (or solo) under the optimal 5 man limits.
It may not be something that can be jumped into right away, but it is possible with patience and practice.
This being said, I know this is not what you are asking. Honestly, I really don’t feel it is necessary. There is already a ton of content that can be done without a full group (most of it solo), a 2 person insert event here just seems like a waste of allocated labour to design and implement.
And if you say 2 player, then there will be people who want 3 player, or 4, or 10, etc.
It’s a slippery slope which I don’t think the Dev’s are into at then moment.
Of course it stabs the feet.
How else do you harvest someone’s sole?
Yes, I have to agree. I understand why they couldn’t do it, but …
A dyeable flag/banner would be so much better. The colours they did choose really limit the look, and for an endgame that’s about aesthetics this is really a surprising choice.
Ancient Krytan for “Your Face Here”
I’ve had pretty good success with getting 2 activations off in the time allowed (traited). I very rarely lose it before it comes off off 1st cool down.
That being said, I certainly don’t rely on it as my major group/aoe heal. It’s nice to have when it’s up though.
Op,
This is clearly an L2P issue.
Maybe look at your build and try to change it up a little (it may throw off the campers game). I hear Defiler or Corrupter have had some success at breaking camp spawns.
Clearly you are not elite, but with practice and patience maybe someday you you make it.
Finally I want to close with saying – we can’t all be Champions, but you can still play like one.
Sin, you are exaggerating.
Lots of warriors dual wield. Many do so quite effectively.
So no, it’s not weak.
Is GS favoured by the player base (and Dev’s)? Sure is. No argument there, but it’s not to the extreme that you are arguing.
I have simple question to devs – where is dual wielding in this game after 2 years of warror nerfs? …
Really?
Warriors have been in a pretty darn good place for the last 2 years.
Yes, there were nerfs, but there were buffs as well.
Could you be more specific in what “crap” you are referring please?
There are traits that buff up dual wielding warriors that are not necessarily raw damage, so the example you give is not really the best.
At least they don’t clip with other back pieces any more …
it’s something.
Yes, they still do clip. No change.
Then it’s a case by case basis, because before the patch my spinal back piece ‘wings’ would clip through my kit packs terribly (didn’t mind too much as the effect was kind of cool).
Now, when I wear my FT kit all traces of the spinal are gone until I stow the kit.
Tested on my 2nd Engineer with a variety of other pack pieces (slick pack, jet pack, gem shop, etc) – All traces of clipping are gone.
I admit I do not have the SAB back piece, so maybe they forgot about that one.
“The trap bonuses activate on World versus World traps”
It doesn’t say ‘only works’.
I take it to mean it will work with WvW consumable Traps as well.
Can we get confirmation, please?
Working as intended?
Talk about mixed messages.
As I’ve stated in other posts:
My Alt addiction is cured.
Praise be to RNGesus
I’m ashamed to say that I was a whale for Anet’s cash shop for the past 2 years.
I spent far, far too much money on this game, that in retrospect provided me with quick fixes that I could/should have gotten by earning gold in game an converting to gems.
No more.
I won’t go so far as to delete the client, but I’m sure as hell never whipping out my credit card again for these guys.
If I can’t buy it it with gold conversions, it isn’t worth getting.
Way to go Anet. You killed a whale.
I’m SO happy that I bought a Character slot on the last day of the 10 day sale, and then proceeded to power level my newly created engineer to 80 within 7 days. Leveling now seems like a grind-chore.
Of my 13 character slots, I have 11 level 80’s now. The other two are a 32 level warrior (first character I ever created at head start) which I don’t really play anymore, and a level 22 level warrior that was more of a cosplay character (more of a mobile bank/storage).
I can say that I really do not see myself wanting to create any more characters, as a dumbed down tutorial and gating is not appealing to me at all.

At least they don’t clip with other back pieces any more …
it’s something.
This is just bunk.
Kick the Alpha team to the curb and get new blood in there. Someone (or a few) is leaking info.
Between this insider trading Garbage, and the junk RNG system (which doesn’t seem to be so random … to some), the Developer is well on the way to losing any remaining good faith many long term Veterans and Customers have held for this company.
Disgusted.
2 reasons:
1) Massive environmental and geographical changes caused by the dragons rising eliminated the natural environments of many of the creatures that you listed
2) Those that did not die off were forced to adapt/evolve into the creatures we have today.
Some of the absent creatures that you listed were explained (i.e Mursaat and Seers – who were very rare even in GW), or purposely left as a mystery for players to ponder i.e. Gargoyles. T
The Stone Summit likely just imploded after some human adventures killed off their leadership from over-farming Sorrows Furnace again and again.
Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?
For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.
We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.
To use your example, just making him turn his head would not really be that effective or exciting. This boss needs a total makeover.
Have him take off and cluster-burn the valley, drop crystal “bombs” on us, actually have him attack the camp / if destroyed event fails.
In short, put pressure on the players. It does not have to be raid-quality hard, but something more that what we have today would be better.
I’ve hunted Shatterer since release. I still consider him my favourite mob in game, by far. But the mechanics are just too weak and boring.
When I can /dance under his right paw and feel no pressure whatsoever, there’s a problem.
I see.
So you would like to have a nice jog through Orr, or maybe Southsun without the local ‘wildlife’ raising an eyebrow at your invasion of their territory?
Please.
Are these mechanics a pain? Yes, they can be.
You need to adapt or get better at avoiding them. If you have made it to these areas, then presumably you have learned enough about the game to avoid or negate the majority of these effects.
BTW: Orr was much, much worse when the game launched. The risen density was far higher than it is today. So many complaints were generated that Anet nerfed the zone population.
If you had been making this argument back then, I would be 100% behind you.
Today, there is really nothing to complain about.
Quick Question: is it only one entry per contestant/account, or may we submit more than one cosplay characters?
Played MMO’s for 10 years now (FFXI, WoW, Rift, LotRo, SWOR, FFXIV) never dealt with DDoS attacks until GW2, So not sure what other MMO’s are doing for prevention, but they have at one point been larger player base, and all have/had subs.
Do a search “Online games and DDOS attacks”. You’ll find that this is a trend that been developing and growing over the last few years.
I’m not sure if you meant it or not, but your post seems to indicate that Anet is doing something wrong and that they are more vulnerable than other on-line games. In fact, they are only one of many victims, some of which are also the ones you listed above.
And combine the less travelled path with a Birthday booster (if you have one) and/or a regular XP booster and the levels will fly by.
I did that on my second Ranger, combined with a little crafting every time I went to a city and I was 1-80 in no time.

Hold up there. There’s a Major difference.
The djinn are in Elona and elsewhere (introduced with Nightfall). So, apparently the world of gw2 is bigger than you think as well.
There is no reference to the Monkey king anywhere in the lore of Factions. It is a piece of beloved real world folklore that was introduced to the game without any previous connection, or attempt to ret-con or explain its existence.
And please be careful with the Xenophobic accusation (in game terms, or not). It’s offensive and without merit on any level.
That’s an interesting Ret-con.
From the GW1 Wiki:
Kryta was the third and last human kingdom to be established in Tyria. Originally a colony of Elona, it was established in 300 AE, it gained its independence in 358 AE.
yet from The GW2 Wiki:
Mazdak the Accursed is an ancient ruler of Kryta corrupted by Zhaitan into a risen lich. In life, he was a prince of Orr who left Orr and the claim to the Orrian throne to establish Kryta.1 He led the building of the first human settlements there, one of them being Lion’s Arch, the settlements’ location being chosen due to hostility with Orr at the time.
Edit – Keeping in mind Establishment and colonization, can be, two different things.
Correction: There are no lions on the continent of Tyria.
Elona has lots of lions.
Lion’s Arch was originally founded by Elonians.
It would make sense that an animal as culturally iconic as the Lion would make it’s way into the theme of the (then) Krytan capital.
(of course this was all history pre-dating the events in GW1)
evevos, epic rant
Started out with some truth, but ended it with vitriol and falsehoods.
I so far as the tonic goes, I’m not sure if this should be an in game drop
Edit – Continuing from this thought from last night.
I don’t have an issue with this tonic going from a Very rare BL exclusive drop to a rare drop in game. In fact my belief is that every item in the BL chests should be obtainable in game. I feel only a little bad for collectors who spent hundreds of gold on obtaining this tonic. Hey, it was a gamble that A-net would keep it ultra rare. A gamble that you lost. It happens.
My issue is that this tonic is wildly out of place in the land of Tyria. As another forum user said, it’s the equivalent of making an A.R.E.N.A. Commando tonic, which is wildly out of place. Sure, there might be some lore associated with it, but it’s so fringe that it becomes almost alien.
One may make the argument that “the Monkey King” may have a in-game folklore equivalent in Cantha … but that’s Cantha (which is not accessible in GW2), not some dusty wasteland on the continent of Tyria. It just does not make sense why it is in game.
Correction: It just does not make sense why it is in game – other than a tip of the hat to our players from China.
and that’s fine … but it should have been something that stayed exclusive to the china servers.

Too many waffles
Nothing worse than a waffle hangover. It messes you up and then you need a few hours to sleep it off.
Not even a Box o Fun can help, cause waffle hangover is no fun.
Intended or bug.
Either way an example of how evil turns upon itself.
and um, … your map chat in that screen shot is … interesting.
Sorry Wirtz, but if you want a no risk way of selling that bad-boy you’ll have t suck it up and pay the TP tax.
ANY other way has a percentage of risk which end in you getting ripped off.
That castle has a long, long history, going back to GW1.
Not an exploreable place (yet), but we keep our fingers crossed.
I would like to know what was Anet thinking?
Knowing that there was already a problem with a certain type of farming – rhymes with rot, they go ahead and place an highly desired item on something that almost everyone does everyday, i.e. gathering. This of course increases the amount of people gathering (shhh… must not call attention to this or Thread will be locked and an infraction posted)
Now, the argument could be made that the folks banned were overzealous in their gathering enthusiasm, and that the security features that seek out this type of behaviour can’t tell the difference.
Well, get better programming then. These players were only chasing the carrot laid out by the game developer, and are being punished for it.
Seems a lot like entrapment to me, and that’s not right.
Ah, but as a duelist you would want to use every advantage against your opponent. Distraction is a subtle weapon.
This said, I agree (partially). That particular armour piece is … impractical.
…. We CAN assume that there was some forecasting and external influences (2012 was the year of the dragon) that inevitably lead to this trend. Anyone who has studied Psychology could explain to you that this is how people work. We are horribly influenced by our environments without necessarily realizing it, to the point where we all come up with the same ideas and do the same things while believing we are completely individual.
Fun stuff.
2014 is the year of the Horse
Mounts Confirmed!
The pale tree sees all, i see it!!, i saw it!!!! I see her mind!!!!! Do not question the dream, we must all play our parts
I concur.
It took me a few times through, but that’s what I hear as well.
This would seem to indicate that what our character’s saw was a ‘recording’ of what Scarlet saw when she went through the machine.
Taimi has a mount!!!
I demand fair and equal treatment.
(tongue in cheek)
Agreed.
Now c’mere so I can line up my hammer with your kneecap.
Equal is equal after all
Think that if Anet wanted the respect of the community they would have given ALL the LSS1 chapters for free.
This stinks of nickel and diming and seems to be the concurrent trend with Anet.
Milk all we can while we can, even with old rehashed content.
Why stop here Anet? Why not just charge gems to enter dungeons? Why not just charge gems to login?
Charging money for previously free content is a slippery slope that I hope Anet doesn’t fall down.
Hold up there. They never stated that LS1 content would be charged out at 200 gems per episode. They only said past episodes will be charged 200 gems.
By this statement I read that they are referring to LS2 episodes that you miss.
After all they also state that at this time LS1 episodes will not be available as they were never designed for this new system. They may implement it later.
AND
If they do, I’ll bet you a shiny gold piece that Anet will do the right thing and give these past episodes to the players who completed it for free.
I get the sense that this isn’t a high priority for them though, so don’t hold your breath.
Until it’s stated one way ore the other clearly, don’t worry about it.
Here’s a challenge for you.
Once you finish the book, see if you can find the characters or places that are mentioned.
You might be surprised.
What did you guys exactly expect for your shards? Precursor? Free exotics? A bag of 10 T6 mats?
Since you asked
I was hoping that they would offer either the festival bags or straight blade to festival token conversions. It didn’t need to be a 1:1 ratio, maybe something like 50 blades for a bag, or 10 for a token.
I traded in 4k blades in for bags that yielded me a total of just under 1 GP.
Don’t misunderstand, that’s one GP more than I had before Tuesday. I recognise that.
The problem is that it was originally built up by a Red Post as something more exciting.
I guess in this case “valuable” is in how one interprets it.
Yea, I’m not impressed by this.
Not at all.
Happy to see Slickpack and Tomes of Knowledge on those lists.
