Wintersday Weapon Skins

Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll be seeing them offered this year.
Think of the kitten-storm that would ensue if those folks who traded in their BL claim tickets were told that with the dropping of gems their friends could buy the same skins (and likely for cheaper).
They may still offer skins, just not the same from last year.

It’s just my opinion.

Yes and no.

I’ve played/am playing other MMO’s that have mounts and I admit that there is something cool about roaming the countryside on your mount. It does add to the immersion of the game, and there is potential for mounted combat (if the dev’s were so inclined)

However…

The problem with mounts are that people tend to leave them ‘on’ in the middle of community hubs just for the pleasure of showing off, and this creates visual spam. Lion’s Arch is crowded enough without having a bunch of players idle in front of the bank, hours at a time, with their mounts out (most mounts I’ve seen in games tend to be large).
No thank you.
The second problem I see is that you can’t get rid of the waypoint system. It’s a system of mass convenience when you need to move your guild to a particular area really fast when you have a short window of time. It is almost mandatory with certain guild events (bounty’s in particular).

I’m happy with my witches broom. It’s small, does not offer any benefit, and has utilities built in that allow it to function on a secondary basis (i.e. Costume brawl).
‘Mounts’ like that I could support.

The weapon does scale, but the clipping is static.
I’ve tried moving the weapon around to different characters (at a small cost of a few transmutation stones), and the clipping always appears to be at the same place.
Asura, tall Norn, short Norn, human – all clip at the same point.
Not really ascetically pleasing, when it is back slung, although it is still a really good model.
My workaround is to by stacks of the consumable, and use those when I get bored of my other Engineer’s rifles.

Total makeover kit should include name change

NoxInfernus.2361

Agreed, however I hope you realize that by adding that feature they could/would/should charge an additional GEM fee on top of that.
I’m at work but I believe the TMK is listed at 350 gems, you could then expect it to sky rocket over the 1000+ gems mark. I can’t remember what the name change contract is listed at, but it would be on par with that.
Adding name change to a TMK would make the name change contract obsolete, and they would lose money from potential sales.

Hey you ^ Light has one of the most amazing basic pair of pants in the game, go look at the AC armor dude, and preview the pants.

Those still have a skirt… Which doesn’t dye well (it looks like it needs to be washed unless you dye it black). If a skirt that length doesn’t count, heavy has a boatload of pants too.

Assuming you are talking about male pants …
I think you are looking at the top tab of the AC dungeon armour. The second Tab has the special armour.
I guarantee that the Light AC armor dose not have a skirt for male characters. I have two sets that my Norn Necro, and my Human Elementalist use.

If you are talking about female armour, then I stand corrected.

From a purely legal perspective, when you agreed to the EULA prior to playing this game you also agreed to:

4. ACCOUNT AND PAYMENTS TO NCSOFT

d. Gems — You may obtain Gems from NCSOFT (or a third party authorized by NCSOFT) for use in connection with the Game. Gems are a virtual currency which you may, in NCSOFT’s sole and absolute discretion, exchange for Items, services or access to other specific forms of Content not otherwise available without Gems. The Items, services or access to other specific forms of Content offered by NCSOFT in exchange for Gems may be discontinued, modified or removed from the Account by NCSOFT at any time in its sole and absolute discretion.

  • source – Legal documentation link at the bottom of this page

Take a look at that last sentence.
Technically they don’t have to do anything, but that would be a huge customer service mistake.
They are doing the best they can as a result of their error in judgement in hopes of continuing / regaining customer trust.

Now, as far as getting $10.00 placed back on your credit cards in lieu of gems , that’s something you would need to take up directly with Customer service.

At one time this game was awesome. Now, not so much.
If you are dead set on destroying your own game, I would hope you folks would at least have enough respect for your customers to just shut off the servers and lock the door.
Why must you drag this slow death out with the cancer that is Scarlet Brier?

In small doses, say 1 out of every 3 LS, she is fine. This constant brow-beating with her is frankly, not fun.
I thought you folks had a vision to make a fun game? For a time you had, but now it’s just pathetic.

For the most part, I’ve been in Anet’s corner since before day 1.
The introduction of these “new” armour skins is, frankly, pathetic.
To degrade the ‘value’ of the human light cultural skin and the exclusive WvW medium skin is a horrible idea.
It’s lazy and an insult for every user who saved and did the grind to earn the gold or WvW badges to buy those armour sets.
Selling the skins is just terrible, adding flame effects just more so.
More fire and flame items? Really? Bad idea on top of bad idea.

Your candidate lost. The Abaddon fractal is an idea that will not happen.
Try to enjoy the reactor fractal and move on.

Anet will not be making your fractal, as it would come off as giving in to the vocal minority (many may want it, but only few continue to kitten about it several months later). Giving in would set a dangerous precedent for any group that felt their ‘want’ was the most important thing in the game.
At this point, your continued voiced displeasure over the election results (and the shelving of the Abaddon fractal) are actually harming your cause more than helping it.

Gems...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

NoxInfernus.2361

1st – Gold to gem conversion is determined by supply & demand from the Player-base. This was clearly stated, even prior to the games official release. If you wish to vent your frustration on the gem inflation, please direct it toward the appropriate folks – the players.

2nd – Grinding for gold (profit) varies from individual to individual. Lucky RNG may give you a few sweet exotic drops in relatively short time, or you likely will end up grinding porous bones for long stretches of time. You may just need to accept that if you don’t have the Gems today, you may either have to grind, break out the credit card, or learn to go without.

It has been like this since Pre-release

NoxInfernus.2361

I’m a Mag, but I can’t help to think that some of FA is tanking this to stay in Silver. The fights just didn’t seem as intense Thursday night as they did on Wednesday.
That’s not to say that those FA who took to the field weren’t trying. Far from it actually. It’s just that there was much more quantity and focus earlier in the week.

I’m actually really impressed by CD. They really upped their game during the week after a pretty miserable weekend start. Some of their fights were just as enjoyable (if not more so) than FA.

Finally, I have to say that I’m also really impressed by my own server as well. I’ve seen some excellent growth and tactical maturity with a majority of our Commanders. There are many PvE guilds that have started to show interest in, and make the switch to WvW. Even though our evening coverage could still use work, it’s good to see that some players are willing to make the sacrifice of sleep to try and shore the gap – good team spirit.

Create your Norn make (him?) the smallest in height, and of a build more human and less brick-(kitten)house. You will end up with a character that would be the equivalent to a WWE wrestler or tavern bouncer.
starting out- Play in Human areas (you may need to forgo the personal story to maintain immersion)
You can mix-n-match armor to get a ‘Roman look’ – Remember the Vigil Heavy helm in very Romanesque. I suggest:
dark plate chest & shoulders
Vigil Helm
Pit fighters Legs & Boots
Gloves – your choice ( you can always turn these off as well)

[Merged] Your opinions of the LFG tool

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: NoxInfernus.2361

NoxInfernus.2361

This past weekend I was able to give the LFG tool a good shake down using the tool to for dungeon grouping for SE and HotW. In total I ran each dungeon eight times with six different groups.
Each time I used the tool, I waited no longer than 4-5 minutes to find a group. Each group was great, with no problems or trolls. I have to say, this is much better than standing outside a dungeon entrance or in LA /map calling “lfg”. Having the dungeons be cross server is brilliant.
What I would like to see is a Tab that allows players to post their characters for group leaders to be able to select specific professions. I would still keep the ’hot join" feature that the system has now, but make it optional.

My only complaint is that I am curious as to why this tool wasn’t in at launch? It really is one of the Quality of Life features that any AAA game should have. There’s no reason that as a player I should have to use a 3rd party site to look for groups. None.
(BTW: my Thanks to the guys that made and Maintain gw2lfg.com, you saw a need and you filled it. Too bad the developers did not share that vision at launch)

NoxInfernus.2361

Almost, without exception, Dragons in fantasy games, books, movies are portrayed as ‘THE ULIMATE’ creature.
I hated that GW2 had this massive, beautiful, and visually stunning Dragons, but that their mechanics are so awful.
Sure I did the same thing as everyone else and stood in the ‘safe spots’, DSP’ed, and collected my reward. I was happy with that for about a month, then it got to be a boring AFK event for me. Shortly after, when my guild announced a dragon, or my timer went off, I would more often than not ignore it. Crafting gave me more of a thrill.
Dragons were not fun, or interesting, or a challenge anymore (if they ever were).
Battles with these creatures certainly wasn’t EPIC. I got more thrill out of Covington or Ulgoth than I did from Dragon Champions (both very good event chains btw)
Now the new Re-vamped Tequatl is what a dragon fight should be. It’s Dangerous, Massive, and Fun (if you can get in on your home server and don’t get DC’ed)

I am one of those that sincerely hope that they take my favorite dragon (Shatterer) and rework it to give this beast some teeth.
Of Course Claw needs work as well, as it is more annoying than fun.
Zhiatan … just needs a 100% overhaul for the actual battle itself (everything leading up to it is fine).

I’m on Ehmry Bay, and I absolutely love the new Twauatl fight! Me and some friends tried (and failed, of course) to kill him a few times last night and didn’t even get him down to 80%, but we did a tiny tiny bit better each time. And that’s super exciting! The fact that it’s a huge deal for Blackgate to have gotten it is so awesome, and makes me so excited about it! Last night I dreamed that Ehmry Bay was the 3rd world to bring him down. You know something’s cool when you dream about it and can’t stop thinking about it at work the next day!

One thing I will say though is that the vocal negative side of the community makes me laugh at shake my head at the same time. Here’s some examples.

“RIP, low pop servers.” (said while in an overflow)
“This is impossible.” (Said on the 3rd time he’s ever been fought.)
“He has too large of a health pool, and still requires no actual skill. Look at Blackgate, they killed him with pure DPS without even dodging waves. Nerf his health and increase the time limit and make skill actually important!” (This one just makes me shake my head and want to bang it on my desk. News flash — by using even more skill than BG did their first success they/we can get his health pool down even faster by not wasting time and buffs rezzing, etc. The statement makes the assumption that we’ve already mastered the skills and that BG’s success was the only way, neither of which are true.)

So, anyone else wanna share anything that people have said negatively about the new Tequatl that made them facepalm?

EDIT: tl;dr: I love it and dreamed about it. Some of the negative comments about the new fight make me facepalm.

So let me get this straight, you think you are better than people who are frustrated with the mechanics of the fight because it is cool to fail at 80% the one time you have done it. Let me share something with you, it is not fun to fail repeatedly, all while making zero progress towards the next phase. You are not better than anyone else and starting a thread like this to specifically bash people who could have valid concerns about the fight is not only childish, but incredibly ignorant to the views of the opposing side.

Have some respect and some tact.

Please re-read his post. He said that each time they failed it they did a little better.
Look at the whine posts that started 20 minutes after this event went live and you’ll see people were complaining that it was too hard. That it’s impossible. That Anet Killed this Event.
Yet, Blackgate did it in under 12 hours.
If you are frustrated at this event that’s fine. Voice your concerns in a reasonable manner, and maybe if enough people are able to give civil reasons why they feel it’s too hard, maybe it might be made easier.
If you are an individual who wants to rage at Anet, well, that’s a different matter.

At no point did I read the OP’s post as an “I’m better than you” slap on back/slap to your face. He was just stating that his server is slowly making progress. Every server can make progress. You might not get it done at Blackgate’s speed, but it can be done.
Getting frustrated and raging in game/on the forums will not make you improve.

Is this event hard.?Heck yes.
Is there tweeking that Anet needs to do? Sure.
Look to Blackgate for inspiration, and know it can be done.

Nope, I didn’t insulted anyone but yes, the voice she made is one of the worst in the game and no, I don’t mean she did a bad acting, just the voice she chose to do is awful IMO.

The best thing you could do for yourself and the rest of the GW2 community at this point is to delete all your toons, abandon or cancel your account and leave without saying a word. You are not wanted here.

Wow. Just, Wow.
I don’t have an opinion on this either way, but …

If you are serious, please take the Fanboy-ism down from 11. He’s well within his rights to voice his opinion of the voice acting. In fact, he was very civil about it.

Back to topic:

I’ve tried both Human and Sylvari Necro’s. I rather enjoyed the level of customization for the sylvari. With proper gearing and appearance you can get a very distinct character. The animations killed it for me. The movement of the race, just didn’t fit in with my concept of the character. Delete.

The Human was too generic. The armor models looked good and well proportioned, but I again it didn’t feel right. Delete.
Although I have seen other player’s Human Necromancers that look awesome.

I ended up creating a Norn male power Necro of largest size. My favorite 80, by far.

About a year or two ago I was playing Warhammer40K: Space Marine, and I found that the way they handled the mixing of trash Orks, and their more powerful brethren was quite good.
Sure, you could one-shot your way through the throng of trash, but when a more powerful mob or boss showed up, it forced the player to adjust from spray and pray, to more tactical thinking, and then back again. The player was always on guard, because you never knew how the momentum of the fight would shift.
Now that game was a single player (or co-op 4 player), so it allowed for the mass of Mobs to give pressure and excitement to the player. I’m not sure how (or if) that would work in an open world mmo. Game generated zerg vs. Player zerg is quite different.
Still, it’s a nice goal

Keep in mind these events were a showcase for all the new abilities and challenges that Tequatl 2.0 will have. It’s kind of pointless to have a number of PUG zergs get beaten within the 15 minute window over and over without a Dev assist.
That does not generate buzz.

Sure, eventually the mechanics of the dragon will become known and players will organize to make the event seem much easier. I think you are giving the player Zerg mentality far too much credit when this launches ‘out of the box’.

Reasons you did not choose a Charr

I made a Charr Warrior on early access, played him until level 23, then shelved him.
I took him out in the last year a few times, geared him up with Transmuted armor and weapons to try and give him a cool factor. Alas, I just can’t get into him.
It’s not the personal story. I find that to be one of the most interesting (of what I’ve played).
It’s not the profession. I created a Norn Warrior back in November and he’s one of my go-to level 80 characters now
It’s not how they look/move. I love the running on all 4’s. Even idle, my Charr looks like one bad mutha.
So there he sits. Now level 27 with nowhere to go.
I do admit though, I seem more drawn to the Norn ( 5 of 9 characters I have are Norn)
maybe it’s just I like pseudo-giants more than Beast-men.

We all know what will REALLY happen.

The really good loot (i.e. ascended, mini, etc.) should be exclusive to the drop table for winning the event. Still incredibly rare, but exclusive.
Let the players have their ‘participation’ chests with the regular loot drops (blues, greens., maybe a rare or gasp exotic), but leave the exclusive things for those that actually succeed in defeating the dragon.

There’s your incentive for winning (if winning just wasn’t enough for you).
