Yes thats true, i just feel the grid doesnt fit well with armor in this game. How many armor has square lines going through it? Its hard to make the wings match and not look like a random attachment =/
Also another idea. I’d like it if the dragon wings didnt flap so fast. Slowing it down a bit and getting rid of the grid would b perfect! :o
When i saw the wings in the dragon bash trailer i didnt notice any square line pattern in them. But previewing them now they do have lines. Anyone else think the lines should be scrapped? It’s killing what would look uber awesome. If more people are with me on this maybe anet will listen and lose the lame grid on the wings.
“An S/D thief can remove a total of 3 conditions that way and then he’s dead, as he’s out of initiative.”
Do you guys even read? Somebody was discussing Shadow Return as a means of constantly removing conditions. Shadow’s Embrace has absolutely nothing to do with the S/D weapon set.
You guys are also talking about hypothetical builds that nobody uses in Structured PvP. 30 Shadow Arts with S/D is like buying a mini cooper and trying to make a station wagon out of it.
i dont see who was discussing this :S Who brought up 30 in shadow arts?
Shadow Arts relies on being in stealth for extended periods of time.
That means: no node contestion, no damage soaking for your team, no dps for your team.
A standard 30 SA permastealth thief stays in stealth what? 3/4 of the game? You’re basically making your team 4 1/4 vs 5. Not to mention all those trait points wasted into Shadow Arts in the first place instead of useful dps traits.tl;dr: Shadow Arts is REALLY bad. The ONLY trait I might consider picking up is 10 points for Infusion. And that’s only IF D/D were still decent for 4ini backstabs. But then you lose Fury on Steal (or ~15% dmg from other traitlines), and lets face it, you NEED that fury.
And wow, I never thought I’d see the day when someone ACTUALLY qq’ing about Tactical Strike.
The fabled 30-30-30-30-30 Thief, ladies and gentlemen.
This comes off as completely off topic. This was about sword/dagger theif which dont stealth that often from what i see.
I can see how you can complain about Empathetic Bond as a Necromancer, but Shadow Return as condition cleanse? Really? (This is basically a last resort move and definitely not a counter to condition classes)
An S/D thief can remove a total of 3 conditions that way and then he’s dead, as he’s out of initiative.
Many theives also use the slot skill shadow return which removes 3 conditions. Then theres hide in shadows to cure more and roll for initiative(which also removes chill/cripple) to spam more. They can counter conditions easily. Not that necro can even get a high bleed stak on theif. With all the evades ill b luky if i get much bleeds on them. Which will immediatly be removed.
For pve i put together pretty good condition build, ive foudn to be very reliable adn good damage. I use mostly rabid with rampager gear and about 2 pieces of apothecary(Adding some power instead of pure condition damage works better imo). Get your crit chance high(mine is at 54-55%) and use sigil of earth to stack extra bleeds. I’m setup with 10/30/10/20/0 for pve. I use bleed duration runes/krait/centaur/etc. for over 100% bleeds with lingering curse. With the crit chance i setup lifesteal on crit with bloodthirst. Everytime i crit i steal 90 health which gives me some sustainability combined with death shroud. Bip and epidemic work greatfor slots! if your interested in my build message me too!
Dat massive damage on plague…
lol
I appreciate your guys advice and i hope anet gives necros some tool to deal with s/d theives. Ill dodge the second strike of flanking that is good to know. Like i have said chill and cripple and cc dont help much at all. S/d theives remove conditions like crazy and like zenith has said, they have stunbreaks to deal with cc.
You will not beat a competent thief as a necro if he’s got any traits in shadow arts.
You just won’t. They cannot be CC’d (With S/D you’ve got a stun breaker from infiltrator’s strike, and if that fails you’ve got shadow step — so about 3 stun breaks you can chain). And when you get pressured by conditions you just stealth and wipe it off.
And due to how much damage you can inflict both burst and sustained, no class outside bunker specs can survive the combination of resets+ really high damage.
Just wait till they buff warrior sustained, though. A single 100b with Leg Specialist>stun brings my 2.2k BM bunker ranger below 50% health. A whirlwind will do about 20% of that 50% left, and they can chip away the rest.
Once warriors get to have uptime with the damage they’re capable, thieves will seem a joke to you.
Yea ive pretty much accepted that. but i main necro for pvp and and im so used to them now i dont wana switch classes lol.
Its just stalling for some points tho, which in the end the theif will take it bak. =/
How do you beat them? It feels like im wasting my time fighting them cuz they just spam flanking strike which evades, and then they blind and immobalize to mess you up more. Its just really dumb when they can evade everything by spamming flanking strike. Anyone else think it needs a nerf or is there a way around it? i play necro btw
Go Well based, dare him to step inside your wells.
Fighting an S/D Thief off point as a Necro is suicide, generally you can get by simply by ignoring him. If you’re fighting him on point, put down Wells. He can’t stay in them for too long, so he’ll constantly be teleporting/dodging out of them. That way you can capture the point.
I thought about that atroll. but theif can just bait wells and then come bak and get u wen all wells r on cooldown. But it would get him off point for 15 seconds at least.
^ yea i do that vs backstab thieves and can win. but sword/dagger it doesnt work nearly as well.. necros are too slow to keep away from theif and theif will remove the cripples and chill i put on him. Not to mention thnx to flanking strike he can even evade my cc or move out of los to make me miss more.
remember, gw2 is a team game.
bring a friend!
yes but id like to be able to hold my own ground. that also benefits the team wen i solo cap points! generally i can i play well against most. but sword/dagger theif, regen bunker rangers , and certain mesmer builds are my undoing. But sword/dagger feels the cheapest of them all cause they mostly spam flanking strike….3, 3, 3 all day long, pro skillz…
I can beat or put up a good fight against backstab theives, necros hav enough cc to beat them. But sword/dagger is just ridiculous cuz i cant land a single hit. I can survive for quite awhile but whats the point if i cant hit them =/ . not to mention they remove conditions like crazy too. So the hits i do get off do no damage. I guess its just a broken matchup, meh…

animal hats are great. but i really want the swimsuits >.<
Yea the pile of crystalline dust price is getting out of hand. They are used for so many recipes and now none of the recipes r worth it anymore. Since the price is so high and they drop rarely.

So in my pvp battles i noticed that my target randomly switches. Sometimes at the worst moments. Like when i pop plague signet or corrupt boon and it gets transferred to a ranger pet or mesmer clone. Also plague signet has failed to transfer conditions at times, without being dodged or used on an invuln foe. Could the cause be the invisible projectile mechanics some of the necro skills have? Anyone hav good advice for staying on target and not random switches to pets/clones. Its really really frustrating me wen this happens >.<
gl beating sword/pistol theif. they will remove conditions, stun you, daze you and blind you. its the most annoying thing to face along with certain mesmer builds.
Edit: it may hav been sword/dagger actually. Either way it was sooo annoying.
(edited by OMNIBUS.2913)
the precision is used to stack xtra bleeds or lifesteal if u spec into it. You can build however u want tho!
1. fear with terror(pvp)
2. condition transfers(pvp)
3.good dps without being too squishy(pve)
4.perma chill(pve)
5.epidemic(pve)
I seperated between pve and pvp cuz(for example) fears arent as effective in pve thnx to defiant.
bump, i want the lord faren speedo!
ill message u sometime then. I tried to stay on point but sumtimes u get rangers, engis or mesmers who just dont go in the point and keep hitting you at range. Which makes me try to come after them. If i dont i keep takign ranged damage until i die. If i go after them i often get knockbaked. and with minimal survivability im in a bad state before i can actually get the rotation off. Which is all very avoidable if i do. It does work great against non ranged people however.
ok i tested this for about 10 games, its a decent build but feels very gimmicky and imo is not the powerful build u spoke of. Problem im having with this build is if u fight 2 or 1 opponent with with any kind of interrupts they can mess up your rotation before you get wail off(worst was mesmer with greatsword who just used the wave to knock me bak wen i got close, even with dark path which was dodged a lot btw). You hav no stunbreakers which made me rely on the doom a lot but i still foudn myself gettign smacked around and chained cc. And on occasion when i had no life force i got bursted down by a theif which i could not escape thnx to no stunbreaks. You get bursted down extremely fast(sometimes even before i can get well of darkness off) which made me bad in team fights. Also many if not most opponents in team fights were smart enough to leave the wells adn range me. And lich form had its uses but ended up being the usual kill me now button! Lich forms auto (while powerful)is also unreliable as opponenets used terrain to obstruct it and mess it up. Also anything with a teleport can escape before you get wail off. And once your burst is gone your weaksauce, so if they did manage to escape they can come bak and destroy you. I did burst people down here and there whcih was fun. Feel free to let me knwo if im doign sumthign wrong.

I’m gunna give this build a try, and i agree with elva your voice is sounds awesome lol. You should consider making more vids people will actually watch them all the way trhough just cuz voice is not boring.
thnx for ur replies guys! My main for spvp is necro so im not really gunna play the other classes much in spvp. And if i wvw with ele, i plan to be following a zerg with staff ele. If i want to roam ill switch to my theif :P . I really love staff ele though, switching between the elements for healing, large(radius) aoe damage, utility and combo fields is waaay fun. I know the other weapons have this too but i wasnt as into them.
well thnx, im glad to hav at least 1 reply lol. I’ll be going for celstial trinkets then.
My ele is only 55 right now but when i get him to 80 im thinking about going for a mix of rampager/beserker with all celestial trinkets. I’m gunna use staff with 20/20/0/0/30 and boon duration runes . Not being tied to one element i think celestial gear will benefit me a lot since all stats work great on ele. My ele will be used for dungeon running and mayb wvw just for fun. I’m curious what other more experienced eles think of celestial gear. Is this a good idea for my staff build?
i use 0/10/30/30/0. with beserkers gear and 2 knights accessories(rest are beserker) and knight’s weapons. with food buff i hav around
2k power
55% crit
60-70% crit damage
2.8k armor
300 healing power but lots of heals thnx to AH and boons.
been workign my way up fractals and its working very well for me.
agreed, necro downed state is terribad. i prefer the instant aoe interrupts, mist form, and stealth other classes have vs the single target fear with cast time. It’s so predictable a good player will always bait and dodge it, then stomp you. And if 2 people stomp you at the same time your screwed. but since i mostly play hotjoins it doesnt make or break me.
It’s funny that i saw this in the necro forums (theives seem OP) lol.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Thieves-seem-more-OP-now-that-before
I dont think theives are OP. But necros are def not OP.
Generally people want mesmers over necros. They have reflects, time warp, portal, vuln stacking and strong dps. And since everyone prefers speedy runs mesmer fits perfectly.
Necros have benefits as well tho, with their cc(chills, cripple, fear to an extent cuz of defiant), weakness, or vulnerability they can weaken enemies for your team making things easier, while dealing decent dps. Their builds can be very situational though, you wouldnt want to run conditions or even hybrid in coe dungeon since everything removes conditions there. And i wouldnt run a power build in dungeons where you need range( unless you want to use staff in a power build, some do i guess). If you are running conditionmancer or hybrid, its a good idea to check with your team to see if they use bleed stacking. Since i can stack 20+ bleeds alone even just one other bleed stacker on the team is bad cuz of the bleed cap.
Mesmer can just throw on beserker gear and be ready to go in any dungeon.
Both can be fun to play!
if u wana deal good damage try using traits fiery wrath and radiant power with beserker gear(no gaurdian expert here, but its what i do for dps). You can keep burning up on trash for 20% damage boost, and proc burning with virtue ofc. If you have another member in your group that does burning, works great. For your other traits you can go into valor for more crit damage or honor for empowering might. I like to go empower might mostly cuz of vigor on crit minor trait(its part of the builds damage mitigation). but also with 50%+ crit chance adn superior sigil of strentgh, greatsword can keep 10 stacks of might from auto attacking. And then with superior sigil of bloodlust on ur alt weapon( i use staff to stack even more might) you can expect some pretty good dps! I also use strentgh runes for 20% might duration and more power.

I’ve leveled a human male and a sylvari male. Although the human may look more pleasing his battlecries just annoy me and his deathcry is just funny. Listen to a male sylvari and you’ll fall in love. Even after months of playing my sylvari I’m still not tired of listening to him. And I actually think he’s cute in an exotic kind of way.
By the way, I’m a girl so don’t give me those weird looks.
I wouldn’t give you a weird look if u were a guy either lol. i have to disagree tho, human males have a more manly voice, the slyvari males are more timid sounding. Which is not a bad voice but not sexy imo! To each their own tho
Just an idea. What if death nova increased the damage of bone minions explosion by a percentage? Like 30%-40%… instead of the poison field.
Ofc i like the change. Like others have said might as well change it since it looks the same as blue jellyfish. A change to either hawk/eagle would be nice too.
+1 A big boss with a chest spawn is a great idea for southsun. Put one exclusive weapon in the chest too and a ton of people will be around!
I would love that, nothing makes me more mad than facing a guard or ele with a million condition removals!
I hope in the future they release “packs” for all the summons (turrets, elementals, spririts, etc) that change the way they look. I don’t think it will be happening any time soon, but I would certainly support such an endeavor.
That would be sweet. I was also thinking they could add in more minion skills when new expansions come out. Cuz I also dont think it would happen anytime soon.
I’ve seen posts in the past about how many are disappointed with the way minions look. I have a suggestion! Why not give us new minions in the future that look like the risen( i could care less if it clashes with lore). Risen look pretty kitten if i say so myself..
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Risen_Wraith.jpg
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/gw2-risen-priest-of-balthazar1.jpg
Also, a redesigned flesh golem to its former glory would be awesome too.
These would be much cooler than are current kittenats, undead turkey and ball of semen. What do you guys think of this idea?(btw this is just a cosmetic discussion, i don’t wanna bring minion AI and viability into it)
Wow that was great, i like your use of dark path to avoid the red circles! and endurance sigils ftw?
I will exit this conversation now, after all the work i’ve put in… i’ve lost the patience to answer the aggressive ones as well. I remember i did this in the past a few times, even though i knew even then it was pointless.
I will continue to help who ever asks for it…
Just pointless argueing, i try to avoid posting about balance for this reason lol. I appreciate your builds and testing you have done on necromancers nemesis. I’m stealing your beserker build when i have the money to buy everything i want for it :p
This video is a very good representation of the necros state in PvE. It’s no guide but gives a fair overview on how it feels playing a necro.
I dont feel this is how necro is. but it made me lmao XD
According to the wiki it transfers 1 condition from an ally every 10 seconds. Maybe it was description problem since it doesnt include the cooldown +only 1 condition. I havent flat out tested it but i use it in spvp and it seems like its working that way(i noticed i take conditions from people in the clocktower at kyhlo, when im not in it myself or fighting anyone). Ive always used it for stunbreak and transfer so i never payed much attention to the passive tho :p
(edited by OMNIBUS.2913)
+ 1 to op and chips i agree with both you guys. I think if they made fear a necro only condition and just slighty buffed it, reduced the cooldown or added another fear with a long cooldown(just one of these options) it would add uniqueness to the necro. also, if deathshroud had more than 4 skills while in it, it would be a more interesting mechanic to use, without making it OP ofc :]
a better description would be, enemies attacking you take damage.
Something to point out though. engineer was probably the least played class and look at all the buffs/changes they recieved(edit:apparently they were nerfed and not buffed?). Im not gunna quit nec however. I was very happy with the deathshroud change. The only things that really bug me is minion AI and bleed cap! There are some other things i dont like about nec but they dotn bother me enough to leave the class. I have enough fun with my nec in pvp and certain dungeons :]
My signature will attest to the actual effects of the March patch.
thats too bad. i wanted to see engineers become more popular but based on everyones posts the patch did not help with that =/
I agree old sounds were more threatening. They never annoyed me all that much as i dont stay in staff all that long. Now it just sounds boring…
