Sometimes when you melee kill the dragon totems you will get stuck inside the leftover part of the totem and cant move away. Often times this causes boss to target you and down you. You will be released after a time( i believe when the dragon totem is about to reappear) but its still frustrating to die from a bug…
This is a game not real life so their needs to be some sort of compromise and a player with a thousand hours or more of play has shown a certain amount of conviction to the game, has helped keep the game world populated and alive. Just because they haven’t farmed like mad specifically for a Legendary or ascended gear shouldnt mean they cant have one or have significant help to get just one character a legendary or full ascended gear.
It doesnt mean a player who has ground and farmed into the ground is devalued unless that player is looking for some sort of vain bragging rights. That player would also get the option after so many hours of gameplay to get the same benefit and therefore he wold have more than one of these very special items where most of us will only have ever one if we get help to get it.
Its distressing to see any one game encourage such an extreme unhealthy playtime on a computer that some players put in on an MMO.
If you want a legendary do the work like everyone else has to to get one(aside from really rich people in rl, and those rng luky people which could possibly b u)…. u realize by making legendaries easier to get. Every person in this game will be running around with one. Then the legendary status is void, they are alrdy startign to become fairly common as is. If u cant put in the commitment to get one there are plenty of other great weapon options! And btw almost all of toons wear exotic zerk gear. I personally never felt the need to upgrade to ascended and im doing fine. 1000 hours of gameplay doesnt mean u deserve a legendary… I have played over 5000 hours and only have 1 so far. Currently working on the second. I never complained or asked for it to be easier i just did it. If you really want something to complain about try account bound rng. You can literally farm teq or fractals for the rest of your life and never get the weap u seek if luck isnt on your side. At least a legendary you put in the time and you get one forsure.
I had a lot of fun playing caithe until i needed to get those achievements. Then nobody in my group wanted to play her XD
I dont think we need a new class. Giving existing weapons to our current classes would b enough. Like many have stated giving necromancer a greatsword as an option=death knight.
I personally saved up enough gold(after wardrobe change) to buy a precursor and then saved the mats to make it into a legendary. I’m an only somewhat hardcore player. I did it by buying black lion weapons then selling them later when the prices go up. And also running lots and lots of dungeons. If u you want a legendary and u didnt get a precursor drop. it can take about 6 months or longer to save for it depending on how much you play. That why they are called legendary however, i think that is totally justified. You speak of inflation but it just sounds to me like you want things to be easier… If i can do it so can others.

Anet can you please extend the duration of the cat tonic? 5 mins is too short and i cant think of another tonic lasting so short. For costing 100 laurels i feel it should be 15 mins at least.
My standards for gw2 were created from gw1. I know gw2 is not gw1 before someone says it lol. But considering gw2 is a sequel after 6 years i do expect gw2 to be quite better than gw1. In some ways it is but when it comes to permanent content release gw2 is severely lacking. Gw1 released cantha 1 year later and then elona a few months after cantha. Sooo many new maps(not just 3), new classes, new missions, tons of new skills, many new armor/weapon designs, new utilities like the addition of heros and even new game modes; FA, JQ and AB. And as spoj said the content released for gw2 everytime can literally be done in one hour( in most cases). Then we are left waiting for 1 more additional hour of content, 2 weeks to 3 months or more later. And TBH i feel the only thing holding gw2 bak from being one of my favorite and most fun games around is the lack of additional content and account bound rng skins. First and foremost, I think gw2 desperately needs a new pvp game mode(as in new mechanics not just points removed) and a weapon added to each class. IDK what going on with anet over there but it seems like the amount of stuff they crank out of the gem store they would have more money to add more to the game.
lolz. caithe must be craving dragon omelette really bad.
Passive fear procs are broken as they have zero counters, this one is even better due to its 100% proc chance. Couple that with nightmares and you have 2 passive fears that no one can counter.
Well the first counter that comes to mind is mesmer, ranger or mm necro that can completely bypass the fear procs(lets just hav pet take the proc). The other counter is just begin the fight with stability and get the proc while your immune to them. I run nightmare runes personally for the condi duration and it seems the fear proc only comes in handy on rare occasions, skyhammer in particular stands out XD It also procs on downed players often making it totally useless(unless this was changed or soemthing).
I think they should too. especially if they are going to re-release everything else. Why are some halloween items exclusive but others come back? It’s stupid… Like devil horns was 2012 for example yet they bring it back and not the other stuff.
LB Ranger still ain’t the way to go. Won every fight against LB Rangers with my Ranger SB/Sword & Dagger in the last 3 days. Good thing was that I couldn’t roflstomp them anymore.
I also played LB/GS Ranger and won less than I lost. If I get a decent opponent I lose almost every fight. I really wonder where you find those super LB Rangers.
I will try to improve my LB game play cause I like going full offense no defense (gank builds) but I don’t believe it will ever be as good like the other Ranger builds.
I’m wondering where all the good lb rangers are too. I’m willing to bet the whiners got bursted down by ranger when they werent paying attention and are now calling for nerfs. Peoples logic nowadays XD. But really if your about to fight lb ranger all u hav to know is los, dodging, cc, positioning, and reflects(if u carry them).
i want to wear female armor version on male
LOL.
I saw a post stating frost spirit was nerfed so the proc actually has cooldown. Then a dev posted saying it was a bug. I wanted to dungeon with ranger today and just curious if the spirit was fixed yet? Can anyone confirm?
Necros op huh? in 1 vs1 they are good but add in another and call target on necro and it gets ugly for nec. They have little to no CC defence. It just so happens fear and cc is a good way to protect ourselves even over DS. Which is why necs might use nightmare runes. And while we may have the 1 vs 1 advantage in many cases, necros have poor mobility(unlike warrior) and get focus fired down quickly in team fights. You have to consider the weaknesses vs advantages. Like the whole ranger uproar being op. Sure, they are good at ranged burst damage now, but what happens when you attack them up close?
My advice to you is to stop running fractals now until(if) they change something. Best decision i made on this game cause now i have a legendary weap and i redesigned my char from my previous idea with fractal weapons and he still looks awesome. I also gave all my fractal weaps that i wasnt going for, to use for another char and made him look pretty kool as well. Fractal rewards by themselves(no ascended or fractal weaps) are also still crap for the time put in. So when you come out of a run with the basic reward you have icky time wasted feeling. At least tequatl rng lock you get rewarded properly imo.
And heads up, someone named lordbyron is gunna pop in this thread and say rng like this is perfectly fine. He has his fractal weapons alrdy so he wants them to stay ridiculous rng XD. But doesn’t realize some people still hate gambling and want another way to earn them(not handouts either).
I just run around kiting and auto attacking with staff for life force until its over(sometimes flesh golem charge too). Then condi burst time. Tho i do find it silly i have to run around for 8 secs of the fight doing nothing but AA.
I didnt read the whole wall of text XD. But i agree with ur initial point they did make it way to ez. I was excited to have achievements like last time which werent too hard(although some slightly less grind this time), but not total handout rewards either. I did the 5 events last night for this week in like 20 mins and now i wont b wvw’ing until next week lol.
Yup. Was just about to post this. For a patch that is supposed to improve miniature usage this is sad… It seems to happen on my thief and his mini holographic minotaur the most. But also happened to my princess doll once or twice too. Btw might want to clarify that its not due to mini suppression from a high population map.
New pvp glorious armor medium chest piece is a non trench coat and looks pretty good along with the set and armor combos. Here is some screens of my theif. I felt like one of the screens wasn’t doing the outfit justice so i posted a new shot XD Also changed a dye area

The more experienced pvpers will quickly learn counters and ways to deal with rangers.
Where it will hurt will be in casual pvp play – specifically people new to pvp will be quickly turned off due to the ease with which and inexperienced ranger can sit at range and kill players in a few seconds (and, unfortunately – whether people want to believe it or not – they can).
So, if spvp were just about catering to veterans and hardcore pvpers, I would say leave them alone. Since there is another aspect to it, I think nerfs are probably warranted (and sooner rather than later).
I’m not so sure. Longbow is ez to play as well so casuals can join on that bandwagon too. And newer players will learn how to los, cc, position and evade longbow rangers. Which can only help them improve.
Rangers are fine. Longbow is now good at what it does. ranged damage. Close in on the ranger and they’re dead meat.
Warrior – over-nerfed
Ranger – over-buffed
Engineer – turrets weren’t fixed
Ele – needed nerf, got buff
Thief – got bugged (fixed)
Necro – got bugged
SUCH BALANCE
Ranger overbuffed? i hope ur not referring to longbow… Only nubs cant handle longbow rangers and if u get sniped in a team fight well thats about the onyl thign longbow rangers can do well from what i can tell. They need to do somethign well right?lol. Not a ranger main but i dotn want them to get nerfed wen they dont deserve it either.
Seems like flesh golem got dumber imo. I never seen him wander around so much in pvp.
The direct fear skills are blockable but corrupt boon and path of corruption(converts stability into fear) are unblockable. So if you have stability on while ur blocking be wary.
Ranger longbow is not really OP at all. It is finally up to par imo(tho its still early)and ranger isnt my main, so im not trying keep it op or anything. Sure they can pew pew u from the side in team fights but if anyone looks their way they are goners(assuming they are zerker). Rapid fire can be cc’d, evaded, los and just using a mobility skill around the ranger will mess up rapid fire. But now if you aren’t paying attention the ranger can snipe you out with longbow. Before patch longbow was barely used in pvp so i think this was a good change.
Just an FYI. You can turn off the guide compass under general options, user interface, content guide.
Veteran players seem the most upset by this which i dont get. I started since release and its not like i dont hav 8 experience scrolls and 80+tomes of knowledge sitting in the bank. If your a veteran how do you not have any?
Maybe not every veteran goes champ hunting?
But from the sound of it, they simply removed the lower levels. And the game just starts at 20 (or something).
I was mostly referring to experience scrolls. Veteran players of(+1 year) will likely have at least one for their character birthday unless they delete and remake toons a lot. Which lvls u to lvl 20… You dont get tomes of knowledge from champ hunting also. You can get them during some of the past living story a few months ago for festival tickets i think. And also their ez to get in pvp.

Oh I have them, I just don’t want to use them. I liked the whole run of leveling my alts. It gave me time to get used to different weapon sets or just approach things a bit differently. Being a veteran doesn’t mean all of us use the scrolls. I just wish I could sell them off since I have no plans to ever use them.
well now u have a reason to use them heh. But fair enough

your level 20 guy still has less skills than he did before, you only have one utility, no traits, and who knows what else has been sealed away. i know that you need to get to 19 before you unlock you final downed skill.
I have enough tomes of knowledge to instantly get to 80
If you have only been playing a few months the complaints make more sense tho.
So everything is ok just because you have tomes of knowledge…… Man get out
Calm down, i alrdy agreed with your other post if you started 4-5 months ago then the complaints make sense. I have a different definition of veteran XD

Hoarder :-P
Just thinking ahead XD. Warrior is the only class i need for 80 so i saved them, also got a full zerk set and some accessories in bank for when i finally make him.

That isn’t the point… Imagine if you didn’t have any.. better yet Imagine being someone who just started 4-5 months ago with NONE… Of course older players will be mad.. it make the leveling process stupid
Thats true if u started 4-5months ago. I gues i i considered “veteran” to at least be playing the game for a 1 year.

I agree with op necro downed is the worst. We have nothing to 4sure interrupt a stomp like theif/mes/ele and our 1 interrupt is single target, can be los, and stability/stealthed/blocked/blind to avoid. While this can be said for war and engi too. Engi technically has 2 interrupts and warrior has vengeance which imo 1 ups necro downed state. The leech seems really weak. I can be spamming 1 on other downed players and our health stays near the same as he spams 1 on me too. I was never a fan of aoe circle like fetid ground in pvp. People can just walk out of it if they need to, and it cant save u from mid stomp like engi 3 skill can.
+1 i was gunna post this myself but i came across this thread. Anet can really just take some armors or ideas from gw1 that were slim without the little skirt or coat and add it to gw2. Like vabbian or prophecies medium armor(since medium armor for males has almost no variety from coats). I woudl also like some revealing armor for males medium armor too, more options plz!
It actually amuses and depresses me when I see other guys acting like they have animosity or get grossed out seeing other guys in revealing clothes and then acting like that’s normal. It isn’t – if you don’t find guys attractive your opinion should be neutral, not against.
Do you really think in prehistoric days men averted their eyes or weirded each other out with their nudity? No, they thought nothing of it. This phenomenon is the result of conditioning brought about by the rampantly unhealthy homophobia in our culture.
ikr! Even nowadays there are tribes walking around naked all day and obviously they dont give a kitten about all the naked men around them.
I enjoyed this episode too but scannign through there sure is a lot of people hating on it. Personally i liked the open world events part tied to LS. Gives players a reason to go and do these events. They are also doing some much needed character developement on DE #2. I actually payed attention to find out more about them.
I want more back items actually, a couple alts still have nothign that macthes them. There really isnt that many unless your counting all the reskins and unfinished back items like beta fractal capacitor. But i would also like more in game armor as well along with the back items.
im about to get howler soon and tbh im glad the endless howl is gone cuz i know that woudl annoy me fast. 1 howl per warhorn skill is enough imo. but i wouldnt mind the other nigth effects coming bak
Which is the same as burger flippers earning a Masarati through hrs of their labor vs say a Youtuber screaming his way to millions? I mean both are earning RL$ right and not inherited; just that one earns exponentially more than another to the point of several dozen lifetimes worth of labor. Is this equal? I mean neither are really particularly high skilled jobs.
The burger flipper will never have a chance to own a Masarati if not for lotteries no matter how many hours he or she put in. But go ahead take away that one in a million shot. I am sure Mr Omnibus as principled as he is in video games would donate the bulk of any windfall to charity in real life.
The burger flipper chose to be a burger flipper though. Your acting like it was his destiny to flip burgers. Maybe in 3rd world countries this makes sense. But people who can play gw2 can do better for themself if they try. And I’m not argueing about anything but pure rng. What your example is referring to is regular rng. Anyone in real life can get lucky but they can also use reliability to succeed :p
Yup better to be a millionaire Youtuber right? Pretty sure there are many burger flippers in “First World” nations as well who didnt choose to be burger flippers.
So RNG is ok? thanks.
“But people who can play gw2 can do better for themself if they try.” I think u missed that part. Obviously burger flipping isnt their ideal life but they can make it better if they choose to. Yup regular rng is fine just account bound rng sucks. Idk where the confusion lies…
I don’t think you are doing anything but digging yourself into a hole with these analogies.
I just checked TP. The Ley Line weapons are now down to 70g. That’s nice. You can get a weapon in a few days by just playing the game, doing the events, selling your rares and exotics.
I don’t have to think the black lion weapons are enticing, but most rational people should be able to realize with the upkeep costs they have, and the amount of staff they have, they simply need to make it lucrative for people to attain these cosmetics in a way that makes them profit.
Care to explain why I am “digging myself into a hole”? If you followed the thread the whole way through, OMNIBUS is not just unhappy that RNG obtained items are account bound and untradeable, but that rare skin acquisition is obtainable by RNG itself and hence “unfair”.
Say the endless Fract Tonic becomes tradeable and costs 1000G, I am pretty sure some ppl will be up in arms about the “unfairness” of RNG obtained tonics.
Which reminds me of the BL key brouhaha a year back wrt Fused skins. One skin is 400+G now or 7 tickets – if you want one it is going to be quite a grind or $40 worth of gems converted. Then you have another bunch of gamers angry about “Pay to win” and “promoting gambling” to children (one of the arguments used in this thread). “First world” problems indeed.
Your right i dislike rng account bound. I’ve stated reasons plenty of times. But skin acquisition obtained by rng adn not account bound itself is unfair? where did this come from? Its the combo of account boudn and rng. If it was like you say then i would also hate precursor rng but i dont. Becuase I have an alternative way to get them, the TP. I did offer an alternative than the tp. Make it like a token system over time if they want them to stay account bound.

Most players just give up after a month of fract dailies, much less years and not seeing that coveted skin that you wanted or tonic because fracts can take a long time.
Yet fractal weapon skins are the primary reward mechanism keeping fractals regulars going. There’s a lot of data on this. Making fractals weapons skins easy to acquire would do terrible things to the popularity of high end fractals.
What data? No one asked for them to be ez to acquire. And from my pov fractals is tanked likely becuz of the bad rewards. Everytime i cheked 40+ there is no groups. Majority of the time i had to form the group and wait at anywhere from 15mins to 30+ mins to get a full group. Admittedly i havent chekd for about a month.
(edited by OMNIBUS.2913)
I’m srry to be blunt, just how i am but u dont in this case. fractal weapons dont drop from mobs. I’ve run fractals enough to knwo this. Show me evidence proving me otherwise cuz ive never seen or heard of it happening.
People once said that the ascended weapons didn’t drop from mobs either, even though Anet told us they did, cause they never saw it happen.
You’re correct, I haven’t run hundreds of fractals. I don’t have first hand experience with having one of the skins drop for me. I have the wiki (which, admittedly could be wrong) and chatter in LA when I’ve asked about them. So I haven’t “seen it” either, but I’ve “heard of it” because I’ve asked.
Well ask an experienced 40+fractal runner if they have ever seen a fractal weap drop from mobs. I’m quite literally 99.9% sure they will tell u no :P
You clearly dont know how fractals work.
“weapon skins that have a rare chance of dropping in higher [levels] of Fractals of the Mists”
Dropping….as in…. from mobs…
“can be acquired from the fractals’ Daily Reward Chest when completing a fractal above level 10 or higher”
Fractal weapon skins work the same way as rings or other drops in FotM. All mobs have a chance at dropping the item. It’s right up their with a snowflake’s chance in hell, but hey, it’s still possible.
But sure, I haven’t a clue how fractals work…
I’m srry to be blunt, just how i am but u dont in this case. fractal weapons dont drop from mobs. I’ve run fractals enough to knwo this. Show me evidence proving me otherwise cuz ive never seen or heard of it happening.
And earning over time isnt equal because the time spent isnt equal for every player.
What is not equal about it? Everyone has all the option available to them to earn gold and rng drops(not account bound). But with the added benefit of the tp and 100% guarentee with time.
Its not equal in that casual players who dont want to spend more RL$ will never get a legendary not even the one in a million chance if some purists got their way. But I am pretty sure everyone is ok with this arrangement, just that it is not “equal”.
Well if they want it then they should earn it like everyone else does(RL money is earning it too unless they got an inheritance form their mommy XD). Just becuase they choose to not play as much as we do doesnt mean its not equal. They still have a guarenteed way to get it if they choose to do so unlike rng account bound.
People who put in a lot of work on the game can afford the mini polar bear(and its gaurenteed).
It’s still not guaranteed at that point, because it requires someone to be selling it, or at least willing to sell it for the price offered.
Bug weapons and fractal weaps especially r not a symbol that people spent ample time doing the content. Its a symbol of luck, cuz its rng with no progression. And you can get them right away if ur lucky.
Amberite weapons don’t necessarily say you spent a lot of time, only that you participated to some extent in the new map’s content. Do note that I didn’t call out ‘time’ for that one, because yes, you could very well get a bug in the first chest you open.
Fractals on the other hand, you have to be lvl 10 or higher for a chance at the weapon skins. Ok, to some people 40 fractals (minimum to get to tier 1) isn’t a lot of effort to put in, I guess. But sure, you could get a lucky drop at the very start of your lvl 10 set.
You only support that these weaps shoudl be tradeable then cause legendaries are supposed to be the rarest weapons in the game and can be bought like the majority of stuff in this game. So why cant fractal and bug weapons be bought as well?
I am not necessarily against having them tradable (look back, no where did I say ‘no absolutely not’), I am simply pointing out that there are ramifications to doing so. Things that need to be taken into consideration. Example:
On one hand, being account bound makes them unique. On the other it forces people to grind for them.
On one hand their rarity makes them desirable. On the other hand it potentially forces people into content they don’t want to do.
You really could go on and on listing pros and cons.
That “prestigious only me has it” desirability you speak of is just peoples big egos.
I do understand the ‘everything should be tradable’ view. I’ve used the ‘everything was tradable’ in GW1 argument myself. (although just because you could trade it didn’t make it usable). However; conversely, I understand the view of those that desire some means of setting themselves apart too. The ‘special snowflakes’ if you will. Sure, in a lot of instances it might just be ego, but why does that make their desire any less valid than yours? We all desire some level of uniqueness, otherwise we wouldn’t give a rat’s kitten about character creation. We wouldn’t care what armor we wore or what weapons we wielded (skin wise). We wouldn’t care if we all had the exact same avatar.
Its far more grindy to leave it as rng assuming your luck is bad like mine(lets not forget about the chance u may never get the weapon). And yes there shoudl be ways to earn all those things through any other way than just rng. It doesnt remove any wow factor becuase im alrdy upset about the amount of time i’ve wasted. Even if i got it now i would still be smh….
My luck sucks too, believe me, I understand that.
Perhaps making it all tradable is the answer, but like I said, it does have it’s cons. It wouldn’t be overly different than GW1. Then you have your ‘guaranteed’ means of acquisition….so long as someone is selling it.
well im glad we can agree on some things. Or at least ur optimistic. IMO there is enough customization in this game that you can be unique without having “me only weaps”
Because with enough time everyone can get it.
Wrong. And that is the problem i have with it.
edit: Oops i misread but only egotistocal people think that way. I’m not trying to 1 up others in this game by showing something someone else cant have due to rng and not even skill or dedication.
But with RNG, even account bound RNG, everyone has an equal chance of getting the item. They are not required to do a special quest line, or activity in order to get it. RNG is the great equalizer. It puts everyone on the same playing field.
Also I can see the frustration of account bound items, and not being able to trade them to family or friends, but at the same time that person has the same chance that you do to get those items.
Yes ofc everyone has the same chances it doesnt change the fact that rng still sucks(its not great, why would you say that
) becuase it creates frustration, and imbalanced grinding(some get right away soem never get it). You know, earning something over time or doing a quest is equal for everyone too…and it doesnt create frustration or resentment so lets put that in instead of pure rng.
I never said it was great :P Yes it can be a cause of frustration. But RNG vs. quest based items causes those items to have more value, than just be given the item. If, say Dusk, was locked behind a quest, what would the value, emotional or monetary, be? Just like it’s said that being able to buy a Legendary, or precurser, already lessens the value of them, and makes it feel less than legendary. Yes RNG can be a pain in the kitten, but the reliefe/joy/emotional connection to getting the item is far more than if you just got the item from doing a quest or two. The first is “WOOT!!! I got Dusk!!!! /dance /laugh /cry” and you are literally excited. Elevated heart rate, a big smile on your face, etc. Getting it from a quest is more “Meh…cool…whats next?”
Moreover the frustration comes from impatience and a sense that “I deserve this item, so why am I not getting it?”
The value of the said item really depends on the quest or time it takes to earn it. It could take a very long time still giving you that achievement factor but at least its 100% guarenteed. And i yea i do feel i deserve it over the person who just entered fractal 20 and got the weap i want vs me who has in the past grinded forever and will liekly never get it. Its like when you have been working a job(turn job into grind in this case) for 10 years and waiting for that promotion then the new guy that just started and has 0 exp gets hired. Yea people gunna be mad, maybe even quit over it.
And earning over time isnt equal because the time spent isnt equal for every player.
What is not equal about it? Everyone has all the option available to them to earn gold and rng drops(not account bound). But with the added benefit of the tp and 100% guarentee with time.
