Red downed bar too confusing for new players.
On a totally unrelated topic:
Red, purple, yellow, and blue downed health bars now available in gem store for 800 gems and in WvW for 300 gold.
It’s 8:07 p.m. Pacific time. I’ll give you two guesses, but you’ll only need one.
This patch, along with the NPE/China release should have never, never, never went live. If I performed like this at my work, they would fire me.
Well, when it comes to NPE it is subjective matter because we are talking about intentional changes (although 1 spamming through tutorial is boring as ever), but I completely agree that the most recent patch as it is now should not have gone live.
That’s not what I was referring to. If you recall, the NPE/China release patch was riddled with numerous bugs as well. To the point, it felt like a beta for the upcoming game.

This is the patch they delayed by 6 days to ensure it was “polished”.
More like a polished starts with a t and ends with a d.
If I displayed this level of competency at my job, I’d get fired.
After the patch, every 8 seconds my game and audio hiccups, resulting in a half second of garbled audio and a game lockup.
Game is now unplayable.
In game bug reporting tool is …bugged. Options show up as a number sequence.

Thieves have a knack for putting big pulsing neon blaze orange circles around a bad player.
Instead of changing themselves they want to change the game.
tl;dr Ego
Anet’s decision to label some healing and elite skills into the 4 part categories of each profession yet not for others has always made me scratch my head. I would think it’s one of those go all in or not at all type things. But then again it’s Anet….
Does D/P #3 de-stealth you? As in if I hit 3 while in stealth as soon as i reach my target do I lose stealth and therefore lose the chance to backstab?
Yes and No.
Yes if you do nothing after hitting skill 3.
No, if after hitting skill 3 you spam skill 1 because your back stab will go off before the second half of shadow shot triggers, allowing a back stab.
Can’t tell if OP is troll or genuine….. 0_o
steal + #1 is auto attack. #3 + 1 is shadow shot or death blossom and auto attack. Neither of which stealth you.
Your whole rotation order is completely messed up, unless your thoughts and typing aren’t matching up to what you’re thinking?
D/D:
Skill 5 then Skill 1
or
Skill 5 then Steal then Skill 1
D/P
Skill 5 then Skill 2 then Skill 1
or
Skill 5 then Skill 2 then Steal then Skill 1
You have plenty of time to walk around them to pull off a back stab. Sometimes you don’t even have to move, because they see you stealth and rotate to prevent your back stab only to present their back to you.
tl;dr You’re doing it wrong.

Anet balance team doesn’t have an effin clue.
So i decided to call on for a lagfree WvW-Game Play.
I am not well verserd in IT-things…so we all should give Anet some ideas to what we need.
Somekind of an Update of the databases..maybe…Hey guys, I think flights should definitely not take as long as they do and they should also be half the price they are now.
I don’t know anything about plains or aeronautics, but maybe if they use white wheels instead of black ones? or maybe if they put wind turbines on the runway to speed up the plans as they take off?
surely this is something that a few random internet people with zero training can figure out in an hour, right?
Hah!
Yeah, I had to reread what they wrote a few times. Just made me shake my head.
The ego is real.
Eh? So if we suck-we ruin the game and if we’re good-we ruin the game. Okay. Thanks?
And all the “toxic” people that were too dumb to play a thief rerolled to a Warrior. What’s that say?
Attachments:
Thieve’s shortbow is a perfect example of Anet’s “…if it aint broke, fix it so it appears we’re doing something!” philosophy. First it was decrease the range. Then it was reduce the projectile speed. Then it was the backwards evade induces lag. Then it was the poison field causes revealed.
Now it is nothing more than an escape/mobility tool and a bagger tagger.
For the longest time, I was under the mindset that it was required no matter what. A while ago I put mine in storage and haven’t looked back.
I’ve been playing since GW2 beta, and launch of GW1. I’ve rolled all classes and have a fairly stable understanding of each. I stay away from SA because I despise that line. I don’t like Sic Em/UGoggles but I’ve learned to cope with it. What I do have a problem with is the absurd damage and range and ease of which the LB presently is.
Oh so I just need to learn to play?
Thanks for proving my point, Ranger Puck Marshrunner- err I mean Jim.

There is a reason 99.99999999999999999999% of rangers in WvW use Longbow/Sic Em/Wolf.
We all know why. We can stop pretending.
Just got to wait for the next round of profession balance and cross your fingers the devs use their brain. Gotta realize the ones defending LB Rangers and spewing that “l2p skrub” garbage are usually closeted LB Rangers, afraid of loosing that gravy train-ez mode. It’s understandable. Rangers have been under powered for so long, there are fears of going back to that. Hence why people cling to the LB Ranger Sic Em Wolf is just fine mantra.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
It’s only fair to give the option of shutting down 1 defensive trait tree for each profession for 6 seconds. No warning. Lets not even be greedy and have them only for thieves, lets have it available to all classes.

When I logged in and saw people linking it, I actually groaned.
It’s going to be a repeat of those $%%&$#^ blue flappy wings EVERYONE and their sister wore. Never mind it’s dumb/looks out of place.
IT’S NEW!
IT’s MINE!
IT’S ORIGINAL!
I’M ORIGINAL!

Oh, im going to be going into maguuma, I’m a fast learner, give me atleast 15 minutes with revenant, and ill have the class down.
That’s what all the light blue defeated icons say…
We know his name starts with an “S”.
Therefore it’s pretty obvious his name is Scuba Steve.
What: Revealed
Why: It is too under powered and weak. It doesn’t last long enough.
Suggestion: It should last longer so I can get 2 full Point Blank Shot, Rapid Fire, & Long Range Shot rotations in. It’s not fair when I’m on a roll and beaming Thieves from ranges in excess of 1,500+ to have to stop when they use their cowardly 1,200 range escape shadow step.
Not only that but every class should have a mechanic similar to Revealed, but for different trait lines.
For example:
Warriors get “Weakling” on their shouts that makes all Deadly Arts traits into Liberal Arts, meaning all the traits are now random despite what you have selected.
Mesmers get “Dumbfounded” which means all clones and phantasms can body block and Theives can no longer land critical hits.
Elementalists get “Exhaustion” that means all Boons and Vitality is set to base and any endurance starts to drain instead of regenerate. Any dodges used creates a negative regen pool.
Guardians get “Unfavored” which means Magic Find is set to base and 1 T-Shirt of Colin Johanson holding a Guardian icon is sent to your home or place of business.
Necromancers get “Macabre” where all steal and conditions are set to base and any time you hit a Necro you get inflicted with 1s of Fear.
We don’t know everything about Revenants yet so this is just speculation, but I think it should go something like:
Revenants get “Mistified” which means Thieves can no longer slip in and out of phase, disabling any and all Shadow Stepping abilities.
Beautiful thread. Glad to see it’s still going strong. I was going to post something similar (think Terminator), but Alchemist beat me to it.
It’s startling to see the amount of imbeciles (highlighted so clearly) that would change a game rather then change themselves.
Quickness is great, but sometimes it can do more harm than good to the user, especially when dealing with evades.
The trait is meh.
The utility is too “nerfed” at the moment. With the 60s CD, the reduction of endurance regen, and endurance drain, it adds up to too much.
IMO the cool down needs to be lowered slightly, and either the endurance drain or negative regen needs to be dropped entirely.

There are some dive goggles at the end of the JP, off to the right of the chest I think.
Yup, follow the ledge on the wall to the skritt tunnel entrance. Put on the goggles and jump, aiming between the ship, rope, and bridge.
When I use this trait, I always feel like I’m tying one hand behind my back. Why prolong the fight when you could have ended it earlier? And if that doesn’t work, just get the hell outa dodge.
No thank you. There are a couple audio and visual clues (not including what you mention). Not that hard to find and finish off a stealthed thief. This coming from a Thief.
Tried the IP, AR, and Malice. Got my butt kicked several times. Not enough healing outside of spamming away in the middle of a zerg.
You sir, have my respect and have without a doubt, won the interwebz. All of it.
One of the most well written and thought out things I have read on this forum.
Hating on Thieves has become a social trend that I for one cannot wait to see go away. Like the stupid “ice bucket challenge” or re-tweeting what ever dumb cause or social justice issue you are protesting. The dumbies don’t realize that stuff doesn’t actually achieve anything, and just like bichin on the forums about Thieves, in the long run, it is going to cause FAR MORE harm than good.
Do I run into issues with zippity eles on meth, packs of rapid fire rangers, nike warriors? Yes. Do I come to the forum and moan, bich, and throw tantrums demanding their nerfing? No. People are always going to use the best build out there to make up for any skill deficiencies. Just gotta smile at the sheeple
The only advantage P/P has is nobody uses it. So when paired with the right sigils, traits, and tactics, you can catch people off guard and sometimes in full on panic mode when you engage them.
I think the OP needs to go and re-check what “evidence” means.
This x100
The only thing this proves, Munkee, is the devs can add a maxed character to an account.
Thread total waste of a read and time.
You’re nitpicking words now. But the gist of it is they break through, so we pull back to defend other gates. Think about it. Does that make any sense to you?
Pact Assaulted
* Aside from the spoiler in the title and the predictable nature of the assault – because it’s basically Battle of Fort Trinity 2.0 (even the losing-until-the-very-end bit) – it was okay. I didn’t like the sudden “call in air support to fire on the mordrem while we’re in the middle of them” bit but what can you do, nothing really big or cringing – just a little immersion breaking.
That’s the only thing that bugged you?
What about when the gate gets overrun and the Mordrem break through? Trahearne tells us to pull back and reinforce the other remaining gates.
The writers went full kitten there.
I was looking forward to it also, minus the inhaling.
Yes. It would liven up this game tremendously.
I’m just glad they didn’t use the original voice of The Ghostly Hero from GW1. Seriously, that speaking while inhaling effect totally irritated me to no end! Made me want to punch him in the mouth just to get him to knock it off.
We seek out the aid of the Mursaat, since they fought, and survived through the last elder dragon cycle.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend I guess.
I’m betting there are going to be more than just one Mursaat.
If you listen closely, it sounds almost identical to Ogden. Probably is, with some sfx effects and distortion layered on.
I’m so confused….
It’s definitely a Mursaat (not Seer) with what looks like the shape of the White Mantle for its helmet or shoulder pads turning a tower to gold. Yet it has tendrils and a green flow of energy through it’s body.
I was kind of surprised that The Shadow was inside the sealed Forgotten chamber. Does this mean Mordremoth’s influence can basically go anywhere? Finding and corrupting the last living Mursaat hidden away in their capital city would make a lot more sense then.
But why then, would a now minion of Mordremoth be bothered with trivial things such as turning a building to gold?
Color me puzzled.

Some of us have seen this destination coming for a long time now.
Welcome to the club, brother.
See my sig.
Yeah but it doesn’t it bother you that it says assassin with almost every trait you use as a thief? Lol
Thief profession is a big, steaming pile of hot mess. So no, nothing surprises me anymore.
“Idea why do thief have long weapon range??”
We don’t.
By any standard or stretch of the imagination.
By your logic then Thieves should be able to use all forms of weapons, being a Thief and all, able to steal from everybody. But like Zero already mentioned, the design is all in your head.
I find them a fantastic work-around for one of the most horrible leveling experiences I’ve seen.
Lets try to hit the brakes.
I remember their “great” show at the gamescom last year.
What did they give us back then?
A complete messy explanation about the game for new players.
TwitchJust because they present something at a convention does not mean it’s something new.
Looking back at the PAX description:hear how we’re setting up a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe
Could also mean that they will just explain Livin Story.
I agree. This came to mind:
Lol this is a great thread!
I was sleep deprived at the time of the post while trying to recall 6+ years ago so I’m sure I was off on things. I will concede to you the Rurik and Talkorah thing. Main difference is I found Talkorah aggreable. She didn’t annoy me. Which I guess is the gold standard for Arenanet characters.
This entire thread is nothing but subjective opinion….
You can list facts and events, but with storytelling and emotions, it is all meaningless without context.
No, the Kormir video is not beyond inaccurate. It has very valid points. I don’t need to write a dissertation on Trahearne and Kormir because the flaws are pretty blatantly effin obvious. To do so is a waste of time. Lore. Mechanical. It doesn’t matter. Arguing over semantics. In the end it is what it is.
The only reason why people hated Togo, Mhenlo, and Rurik were due to mechanics – them running off and dying, forcing the party to restart the entire mission.
The hate on Kormir, however, comes from the story, not (entirely or mostly) the mechanics.
You are wrong.
Instead of typing 10 paragraphs…
Fighting for your life and fate of the world only to look back and see dingbat Kormir twirling her hair.
this
Trahearne does the exact same thing. Not mechanical you say?
- Rurik was an oblivious rich boy.
- Togo was an annoying creepy do-gooder.
- Mhenlo was world scholar snob that was doing you a “favor”.
Certainly more than simple mechanics.
If you’re defending Kormir and Trahearne then thank god you do not write for Anet.
(edited by Odyssey.2613)
I read this thread and laughed my kitten off.
And then I cried.
And then I rocked back n forth in the corner sobbing.
From my experience, Asia has a large (can’t emphasize this enough) problem with racism and cast, in particular the Koreas. That ultimately is what is dictating NCsoft and thus Anet. I would love to tell Anet topull up their big boy pants and tell all the politically correct kitten crowds to shove it and do what they want. Reality is, unfortunetly, no company is going to shoot them selves in the foot and risk profits decreasing. NCsoft’s claws are too embedded in Anet.
