She took his resources by force, sure, but to put them to good use.

Because the Lionguard don’t have their own weapons. In fact each regiment had a sword they’d take turns holding, up until Kiel demanded Evon hand over his resources.
Of course it was only his weaponry they were interested in, there was no mention of using his food stocks to feed the refugees. Kiel abused him for her own gain, not for the greater good.

More like, they needed extra weapons to arm volunteers who wanted to help in the fight against the invaders.

On the other hand, this does make me wonder why they didn’t just ask the Vigil for weapons.

So from everything posted above it seems pretty obvious that Gnashblade turned off the gate just to spite Shud (hence Shud’s surprised reaction to it happening), and thus forcing refugees to go through the battlezone again to find another exit.
Shud eventually shuts down all gates after getting everyone out. The only reason Gnashblade “helps” by outfitting Lionguard personnel is because otherwise he’ll be shot, other than that he only cared for his wares and not for any citizens or even his own employees whom he left to die in the Trading post in Lion’s Arch. If he hadn’t been forced to help, he would not have done anything at all.

But, I hear you say. He helped Heal-o-Tron. Yes, to annoy the captain’s council.

The only thing in his favour is the fact that he was forced to remain in the vigil keep to outfit Lionguard soldiers and thus couldn’t join the battle in LA. Other than that he’s clearly not the hero some people try to make of him.

So lots of Marionette-like battles

Veterans aren’t that though, they just have more health than a regular enemy but you can still easily take them on while you’re on your own. I personally don’t think beating an enemy that only has a bigger healtbar should get you anything special. Besides, do we need even more stuff to please the farmers?

It was never proven that Evon shut down the Asuran Gate. How does he have access to its controls anyhow?

Sure I watched the scene where he walks through it and it closes down behind him, but who knows why or how it closed. People (haters) are just guessing that it was him.

I could make a guess to say Kiel did it to make him look bad… I have no proof either.

Maybe after he got through he told the gate operator to close the thing as quickly as possible? Who knows… Maybe it’s something that’ll be explored in more detail in a next update, when people will start asking questions about the things that happened and who’s to be held responsible.

But Kiel was a lot more useful in the battle against Scarlet than Evon was, simply due to the fact that Evon was too busy being a sad kitty in the Vigil keep to actually help out.

I think SB should stay as it is to remain an easy introduction to world bosses for new players. Other world bosses can be made more complex, but please leave the new players alone. If you make everything so hard that only organised groups and guilds can tackle it, you’ll just scare off new players.

I do hope that when it’s rebuilt, it’ll be more of a city like Divinity’s reach (though not the same style, it should keep its own look and feel).

What I mean is, LA never felt much like a city. It’s just a shopping district with a few beaches around it and a small fortress across the water. I read somewhere that 50,000 people were evacuated from LA. I can hardly imagine that, there are no nearly enough houses for even 1% of that. Although I’m sure if I were to actually count the houses in Divinity’s Reach, it would not be enough to house 50,000 people either, but at least it feels like a big city where a lot of people could be living. Lion’s arch… Not at all. I hope that the rebuilt Lion’s Arch will get more of a city feel to it, instead of just a glorified shopping centre.

The biggest problem with commanders is that they have all bought the badge and you can’t tell if the commander you’re following is a good one actually worth following. I’ve seen commanders who did less commanding during a marionette battle than I did – and all I did was keeping count of the amount of people in every lane and requesting people to move from one lane to another. If you do less than that, you’re just not worthy of the badge, you’re an insult to it.

That said, a lot of commanders do add a lot to this game and for that, thank you.

I still hope there will be a way for Scarlet to explain the things she did. I think one of the most awesome ways would be if you’d go back to her lair and she’d be there as a hologram that you can actually converse with as if she was really there, as if it’s her ghost, and she’d just be giving you riddles and hints while you search the lair for clues. Not really mocking you, but actually being helpful in a way, like it’s her last bit of sanity she had left and managed to put it into a hologram to aid whoever came after her before she completely went crazy.

What species would you truly play?

Skritt!
you may think I’d be a thief, but you’d be wrong. Mesmer Skritt!

Skritt on their own are kind of stupid though, so I suggest that every playable Skritt “character” is in fact a little group of 5 Skritt that works together as one (quite literally). That should be fun.

Yeah, nah not really. Think about it even humans way back when were as stupid as anything when they were separated and in small caveman groups. Then people started to come together to make villages, towns etc and the pool of the combined knowledge lead to smarter people over time due to the sharing of the collective skills/knowledge.

The same could be said for the skritt who ALREADY share towns with us humans and other races. Perhaps they have already gained stronger intelligence due to the fact they have been around many others for so long.

I was only half serious. I think Skritt individually just won’t work for scholar classes like the elementalist. It goes against what’s been established about them until now.

I sincerely doubt we’ll see any of the “lesser” races of Tyria as playable soon. I’m still putting my money on the Tengu and maybe the Kodan. Making the Largos playable would instantly take away all the mystery that currently surrounds them, that just wouldn’t work IMO.

Lol what? Disconnected from the game? His music for the Realm of Torment is just perfect, same goes with whole of Elona and Cantha. Those soundtracks may feel odd when played in Gw2 but they were perfect and incredibly thought-over in Gw1.

Then he got lucky with Realm of Torment, as for Elona and Cantha, at that point he already had experience with Guild Wars, and he had already put his stamp on the original game so naturally anything from him would feel natural.

His Wikipedia page states:

Soule rarely gets to see the game he is composing the soundtrack for in any sort of completed state before he begins work; as a result he bases many of his musical decisions on the company’s previous games. He credits his success with this strategy to the fact that many of the games he works on come from studios that have created several successful games in the past

The current composers are much more connected to the game than Soule was, and that’s why (in my opinion anyway), their music is spot-on. They know what they are writing the music for. They don’t just have a general idea of what the game’s going to be like, they even know the specific scene they’re going to set the mood for. That just gives them a big advantage.

As for the version with the female vocals posted above, although it’s nice, I personally prefer the original. For me, it just doesn’t fit. Maybe I’ve just listened to the original too often

I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to say. So I’ll say this. You do realise most of the music in GW2 is the stuff Soule wrote for GW1 right? ANet just used it again, and that is why some of it may feel ‘disconnected’ to you.

What I’m trying to say is that Soule just gets a list of tracks required without actually having seen the game. The reason the music in GW2 “fits so well” is partly because it’s recycled music from GW1, and new tracks by Soule sound similar enough to fit in with that. They’re still not songs that were ever written for very specific situations though.

You’ll still be indirectly supporting the devs though, because for them to be able to continue working on GW2, GW2 has to be profitable for NCSoft. If everybody stopped buying Gems, eventually NCSoft would just pull the plug.

If you don’t want to spend money on it, you can even grind the gold needed to buy the gems. So instead of grinding to get tokens or whatever to buy the items, you can grind the gold. Or were you expecting all armour would just readily and freely be available if it wasn’t for the gemstore?

I do agree that in this time the price of the items is a bit hight (400 gems for the whole set would have been more reasonable) but again, I’m not being forced to buy anything so honestly, I don’t really care.

No sound during tower collapsing cinematic

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: OmaiGodman.2098

OmaiGodman.2098

I know that I’m not supposed to revive topics two months old, but I just wanted to report I finally found out what caused the issue.

I bought a Creative headset some time ago, which came with this “Alchemy” software which should improve game sounds or something like that. Basically, it places a dll in the game folder which the game will then use. Since it hardly did anything I had completely forgotten about it and moved on.

I noticed today that I had a lot of Creative errors in my event viewer. Since the only thing I had done during the time of the errors was playing GW2, I thought I’d suddenly remembered the Alchemy DLL. I removed it from the GW2 folder and the errors stopped. Then, when I entered Lion’s Arch and the game randomly decided to show me the cinematic in which it gets blown up again (it just does that sometimes), I noticed that the sound was working (first time I ever had sound during a cinematic ).

So there you have it. Bad Creative software caused this issue. I thought I’d at least post it here in case anyone ever comes across the same issue.
