Bank space is worse than F2P games

Anet provides you enough bank space to enjoy the game. If you need more, you have the option of buying extra. You aren’t Entitled to more stuff simply because your needs demand it.

A sign of the apocalypse. We agree on something.

OmaiGodman.2098

Well I’m sure there’ll be some free feature packs eventually and the living story should continue, too.

Actually kind of curious how the living story will continue without touching the expansion for the expansion-less people.

It will take place in the old maps, and start by dealing with the fallout of the fight against Mordy.

Eventually, some new threat will rise up, and the story will start to focus on that. This will then become the intro for expansion #2.

Native 64-bit game client for this release?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: OmaiGodman.2098

OmaiGodman.2098

I’m really hoping for a 64bit release… My PC’s fans are spinning like crazy cats after a bag of peppermints.

Graphics card is okay, it doesn’t heat much and doesn’t keep any noise what so ever, but the other fans around the case are just screaming for the game session to stop. Anything doesn’t heat more than in kittenual gaming session along with any other game, but the fans are cooling, why in earth is this? – I can’t say, but it’s annoying and a bit concerning.

64bit release won’t change that, it’s not somekind of magical technology that makes a game run smoother. It just allows for more memory to be allocated.

[PC] Low FPS when looking around

Actually my CPU is fine for this game, I’m usually able to play on high detail just fine (unless there are too many people around, then it slows down).

So I just went and reinstalled Windows and this time I didn’t install the latest driver from Ati and it seems the game’s working fine again. Guess that latest driver doesn’t work well with my Radeon HD 7850 or something… :/ I’m now using the driver Windows got from Windows update, which is probably quite a bit older, but it works fine now.

[PC] Low FPS when looking around

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: OmaiGodman.2098

OmaiGodman.2098

I’ve had this issue for a while now but recently it’s become so bad the game almost becomes unplayable. It doesn’t matter where I am, or what graphics settings I’m using. When I’m standing still my FPS will be around 35 – 40, but as soon as I move the camera around, it’ll drop to below 10. This happens everywhere, regardless of whether I have the graphics set for Best Performance, or for Best Appearence.

My laptop, which has much slower hardware, doesn’t have these slowdowns but keeps a steady 25 FPS. Why is my desktop PC unable to produce a steady FPS?

Some specs:
CPU: AMD A6-3670 APU (quad-core, 2.7 GHz)
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
HDD1: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120 GB
HDD2: OCZ-Agility 3 64 GB
Videocard: AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
Internet: 500 Mb/s (wired, no wifi)

Using monitoring software (task manager, radeon driver) I can’t find anything that gets stuck at 100% while running the game. I tried both harddisks, there’s no difference between them either.

Why is the launcher for this game so bad?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: OmaiGodman.2098

OmaiGodman.2098

Windows 7 64 bit.

Same here, and I had no issues, but I downloaded the patch about 6-7 hours before rollover. I don’t think it’s a problem with your computer or OS though. It seems like it’s a problem with Anet’s servers/connection timeout, since changing language seems to re-establish the lost connection.

It is Anet’s problem. Now all it does is lose connection and I have to go into task manager just to get the launcher to close. About to give up and play something on Steam. I’m just upset because they have issues like this every update and they seem to not give one kitten when it comes to fixing it. I reinstalled this game after 2 years and the launcher issues 2 years ago are still issues now.

If there really was a major issue with the launcher a lot more people would be having issues with it. They don’t. So it’s probably your Windows installation that’s causing issues. Maybe you should look into that first.

Farm toxicity and fix suggestion!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: OmaiGodman.2098

OmaiGodman.2098

Why does it matter so much how other players play the game? Every time one of these farms comes up most of the toxicity arises when people intentionally antagonize the farmers. Why are you there in the first place if you have no interest in farming? I’m not gonna buy LS as an excuse since “usual toxicity” implies regular attendance.

Personally I can’t stand prolonged guard staff spam so I have zero interest in open-world farm. However, that thought process of “I don’t like how that player is making gold, but Anet won’t do anything about it so I’ll take matters into my own hands” is exactly what drives people to grief dungeon sellers. Nobody except Anet has the right to tell people how to play the game. A fix will come if it comes but until then you’re just as guilty of generating toxicity if you go out of your way to hassle those farmers.

It’s not about the fact that people farm events, it’s about the issue that some of those farmers are behaving like kittens towards players who want to play the game the way it’s intended (as in, players who try to make the event succeed).

Farmers should realise that they’re just exploiting an event and as long as they get away with that, good for them. But as soon as another player wants to actually finish that event, that player has all the right to do so because that’s what the event’s intended for in the first place.

It’s like leeching off your neighbour’s wifi. As long as they let you, good for you. But as soon as they change the password, you have no right to complain whatsoever.

It’s time farmers should realise they have no right to complain. Ever.

New Interface character selection

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: OmaiGodman.2098

OmaiGodman.2098

I like it, but I’m assuming that if you have more slots than this, scroll buttons on the top and bottom of the character pictures would appear (like it does now when you have 6+ toons).

It’s just an easy way of fitting more characters on the login screen. If you have under 8 characters, it would be just one row of course.

@Danikat: Even if you have more than 16 characters, it would still make it quicker to scroll through all of them when you have two lines visible. For all I care, add a third row. Right now a lot of widescreen space is wasted anyway

Kicked from low population map?

I will never understand that people who obviously want to be left on their own play massive multiplayer online games…

then maybe you understand people who play mmo’s who solo? or prefer NOT to be under some form of pressure of group play? an MMO is for some people as much as what a single player game is; An open expansive world with quests to do and adventures to be had =) and group players/people who prefer to play in groups and not want to be solo are also there !

both in a single player game and an MMO. it’s just two different demographics playing the same game.. what is there not to understand?

Don’t get me wrong, I often play solo myself. It’s just that I don’t understand when people start complaining about the fact that they have to share the map with other people. If you want to play completely by yourself, go play Dragon Age or something.

Whenever I play solo I actually like it when people will join in for any random group event, finish a champion off together, and after that everybody goes their own way again.

Cannot use minis on nearly empty map

Whenever I try to use a miniature I get a message saying that “Miniatures have been hidden due to rising player population”, yet just now I also got a little popup saying that the instance of the map I was in (Brisban Wildlands) had almost no players in it and I could choose to stay in that instance, or move to a more populated one.

So I tried to enable my mini again, and I got the same error message about the rising player population again. It seems to me that this is a bit bugged.

Feature pack 9/9: feedback

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: OmaiGodman.2098

OmaiGodman.2098

I think it’s a shame a lot of people can only say negative things about the patch (haven’t read the whole topic but just spent quite some time in game talking about it on map chat). I agree with people who say that some of the restrictions are a bit harsh for older players (locking a good portion of the game until you’re a higher level) but for new players, I guess it gives them time to get used to things so for them, it’s a nice addition. Maybe in a future update Anet could look into reverting some of these limitations for people who’ve been playing for longer (I don’t need the same tutorial bits when I’m starting my 9th character) but overall I think they help make the game more accesible for new players.

I do like the new TP, it looks better, runs smoother and… that’s all I have to say about it, really. I’ll have to get used to the new UI but so far, job well done.

I also like how I can now “equip” a mini. What I don’t like is how when it gets automatically disabled when I get in a busy map, it isn’t automatically enabled again when I enter the next map (or maybe I’ve just been in busy maps all day so far, in that case I haven’t said anything).

I would like for the little compass thing in the upperright corner to point towards personal waypoints, that would be kind of cool. Or maybe when you click it, get a drop down menu of nearby “objects” like waypoints, POI’s, Vistas etc so you have some control over where it points at.

And I love the way I can keep track of my collections now. I can finally easily complete them Which reminds me, I must get that honorary Skritt title. Shinies!

It’s a feature update, not a content update…

But the problem is, most of the announcements for this feature pack are not related to new features. They’re either imports from the Chinese client targeted toward new players, back-end performance improvements, or polish to existing features. The number of actual features in this upcoming September Feature Pack are very few.

The whole point of these feature packs were to break out new features from the content so they could get the excitement they deserve. It’s understandable that given the announcements so far, players (particularly long-term players) would be disappointed. Especially after the amazing for-reals features we received in the April feature pack.

Since I don’t play the Chinese version of the game, most of these features are pretty new to me.

Similarities between GW2 and GW1

Meh, it’s kind of the thing heroes do. Look at commander Shepard in Mass Effect. That’s what he did too, bring races together to fight a common big bad.

Yes…. i agree.
Even in Dragon Age they always fight the same guys.
But for god sakes they write different storys.
And i actually turned it on again after not playing it for years.
It was super refreshing how much fun a game can be and how well the storys are told.
But this is another topic

They tried that with the first season of Living Story, where the badguy wasn’t a dragon but a crazed Sylvari. And people went nuts over that, complaining that they wanted to fight a dragon. Now Anet introduced a new dragon, and people are complaining that they have to fight a dragon.

He’s also been convinced that any means to achieve his goals were okay, because his goals were important to the world. He never really seemed to value other people’s lives, ideas, etc.

So I don’t think his “current” dialogue is inconsistent. He was cutthroat then and he’s cutthroat now.

What’s interesting (to me) is that Anise doesn’t seem to have a problem with hiring a (potential) sociopath. Either she imagines she can redeem him or she thinks its useful having a “Dexter” around to do “what must be done.” How far is she willing to go in defense of the realm?

To be honest I think Anise is pretty much the same. She’ll reach her goals no matter what the cost, and if she has kill a few people to get there she will. I don’t trust her, and I probably never will.

As long as you’re fighting for Kryta’s interests and it’s queen, you can probably trust her more than your own mother. Any hint of wavering loyalties?

Well… we don’t really talk about what happens to those folks. ^^

If it were somehow favourable for her to get us thrown in jail, or worse, she’d do it. That’s why I don’t trust her. She’s not with us, she’s with us as long as we serve her purpose.
