The armor clipping due to mix-match could be solved by releasing these two armors as outfits. They could make a package of NPCs outfits for 1000 gems or so.
One thing is making me wonder though. I think that it is wide known that many people would buy Anise’s armor from gemstore in a heartbeat. Anet could earn so much from this and they still don’t do that, even though the forum is full of various Anise’s armor topics. Either way they do not pay attention do the forum or something deeper is behind it.

No outfit. I’m tired of outfits that I cannot mix with other armour pieces. I wish Anet would stop releasing them and just release them as skins instead.

I don’t actually have a screenshot of this but I noticed it a few times and I thought maybe I’d create a topic anyone so that someone can look into it.

When you’re playing the human PS, during the three orders arch you meet crusader Hiroki. In map view nothing is wrong with her, but as soon as she appears in cutscenes, her upper legs clip through the flaps of her armour.

(it’s actually visible in this random screenshot I just googled: https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/71481/gw356.jpg)

He’s also been convinced that any means to achieve his goals were okay, because his goals were important to the world. He never really seemed to value other people’s lives, ideas, etc.

So I don’t think his “current” dialogue is inconsistent. He was cutthroat then and he’s cutthroat now.

What’s interesting (to me) is that Anise doesn’t seem to have a problem with hiring a (potential) sociopath. Either she imagines she can redeem him or she thinks its useful having a “Dexter” around to do “what must be done.” How far is she willing to go in defense of the realm?

To be honest I think Anise is pretty much the same. She’ll reach her goals no matter what the cost, and if she has kill a few people to get there she will. I don’t trust her, and I probably never will.

Ressing people doesn't reward you

OmaiGodman.2098

Wow, some people want a reward for just about anything. Next they expect free items for just logging into the game, or for taking a step in any random direction.

What happened to just helping eachother out? I often go out of my way to res people who’re downed/defeated when I see them appear on my minimap. Do I get anything special for that? Often they don’t even thank me for it, but when they do I know it’s appreciated and that’s enough for me.
I actually feel bad when I fail to reach the player on time when they’re downed, or when I have to abandon them when there are just too many enemies around them.

As far as i understand there won’t be any new festivals till the current living story arc is finished…that may change after all the bad press they got with the interviews and the feature patch but don’t get your hopes high of getting anything new since they made it pretty clear that they were not working for any of the festivals, so anything they come up with must be done in around a span of 2 months. Still let’s hope if it does come, it doesn’t end up like Queens Pavilion.

Also…greatsaw? pffff….The Crossing and Chiroptophobia is where it’s at :P

I’m sure we’ll still get Halloween and Wintersday even if the LS hasn’t been finished by that point. SAB is not a festival, Dragon Bash is a bit hard to do since LA’s in ruins. Although I guess they could use another city for festivals… Wintersday in Hoelbrak sounds fitting (and would require less redesign because the snow’s already there) and Halloween in the Black Citadel would make sense since part of last year’s Halloween storyline took place there.

Grimm

I hear you but with the cost of Cultural Armor, especially T3, being as expensive as they are and the fact that they can easily identify those that have the Emperors New Wardrobe Achieve surely it would be reasonably easy to unlock those skins?

If you need 18/54 skins to get the achievement, then no. I’d expect that when you buy a piece of cultural armour, the counter for the achievement just increases by 1 until it gets unlocked. I doubt it actually keeps a record of the exact items you bought.

Feedback: World bosses these days

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

OmaiGodman.2098

Worldbosses? I thought they were removed from the game and replaced with a farming factory. Since the megaserver worldbosses aren’t any fun anymore, it’s just 50 people spamming the same spot with no. 1 attacks for 5 minutes and watching a healthbar slowly disappear. With the smaller bosses you don’t even see what you’re shooting at anymore. The worldbosses have just become giant piñatas for loot farmers.

I hate how they’re made to appear in a set order. Make them appear at random so that people can’t make a system out of farming them. Maybe that’ll make them actually play the game instead of just systematically teleport from one piñata to the next.

Phlunt’s projected route home:

The Grove: Summit location -> Asura gate to Lion’s Arch
Lion’s Arch: Asura gate to the Grove -> Asura gate to Rata Sum
Rata Sum: Asura gate to Lion’s Arch -> His home/office/wherever within the city

I’d say your plan needs a bit of work, unless you’re able to get Mordrem within either of the three cities.

I think Dry Top would have much more replayability if it had event chains similar to Orr or at least one or two meta-events similar to the one in Harathi Hinterlands. Those are rewarding in terms of both narrative and gameplay. I think the current events in Dry Top are very lack-luster in those respects, focusing on just loot, xp, karma and other such rewards (both for the individual and the map) instead of focusing on the intrinsic fun of doing the events.

Coming after the discussion about the “event chain” in Cursed Shore being farmed into science by people? I really don’t think talking about them as though they aren’t used for personal game is a good move.

I know right? It’s really a pet peeve of mine how people turn this game into a glorified spreadsheet in which they have to be able to calculate everything, manage everything and optimize anything. Just because you can play as an Asura doesn’t mean you should mentally become one.

Did you know that the game originally didn’t HAVE Hearts?

But players didn’t know where to go to find the events. So ANet put things to do to pass the time in areas were events tend to pop up. These are the Hearts. They are primarily there to slow your progress in an area down long enough for you to see an event occur. They put it towards map completion and gave rewards to it so that players would have incentive to slow down when they ran into a heart.

And no to a reset that I can’t control. The right side of the screen is already cluttered with personal story and daily/monthly achievement and living story stuff and world event stuff. I don’t need to be forced to have heart information there when I’ve already done it.

That’s funny, I saw a video from Woodenpotatoes yesterday with footage from the beta that showed the game once having twice as many hearts as it has today.

Different Beta. They were put in for the open Beta but from what I understand an earlier build had no hearts.

There was also a build with no levels either but the testers didn’t like the effect.

Makes sense. I don’t know, I think most of the heart missions are okay but some of them are really tedious (mostly the ones where you have to kill a gazillion enemies to get the bar to fill up one pixel) while others are a lot of fun. I wouldn’t mind being able to redo some of them by reactivating them through a conversation option with the heart NPC (“Need any more help on that?” > heart mission reactivates) but of course that would have to be limited to once a day/week so that people can’t keep repeat the same heart mission over and over.

I think one of the reasons Anet doesn’t make future announcements anymore is because as soon as they say “we’re working on X” or “we’re looking into the possibility of Y” half a year later people will start complaining “you promised us X and Y, where are they?

And isn’t that normal? I don’t see the issue here.

U know the community wants X…….u promise to give X….u make X your priority and u deliver it when u say…not replace X with Y and expect the community to feel good about the replacement while indefinitely postpone X.

A company that promises a car and delivers a bike postponing indefinitely the car, seems like a serious company to u? To me it doesn’t. So them loosing our trust after numerous similar situations is only natural.

The sentiment of having to know “what they plan on doing” is exactly because they didn’t give us what we want (or be years late…i mean seriously…WvW feature pack 3 new colors hard to add bro..took 2 years). It’s like wanting to verify they actually put our needs/demands/requests on their list. That’s the whole source of the problem.

If i knew that what i want would definitely come in the promised timeframe or atleast see work done on it, i would never even think of their roadmap.

What I mean is that Anet says they might implement something, and as soon as they do that people will consider that a definite promise even if Anet never promised anything, they just said that it might be something they’d add in the future.

If you want to get all the content for free, get World of Warcraft. Oh wait, you have to pay each month, even when you’re not playing, and buy an expansion each year.

If you’re not there when a LS chapter is released, you get the option to buy it for 200 gems afterwards. They could also have not given you the option like with LS season 1. But then you’d probably be complaining about “having no option to replay the content you missed”.

Several have been for decades, people have adapted and life goes on. There’s a permanent circus in Divinity’s Reach. The queen built an Arena while there’s an ongoing war against centaurs. For those not fighting, life goes on. Same for the Asura in Rata Sum, so why can’t Moto enable the SAB regardless of what’s going on outside the city?

Not a perfect solution obviously but you could always look for a shoulder piece from another armor set that will look good with your armor and is not so bulky. I think hiding the shoulders wouldn’t be a bad thing but it’s not likely to be a top priority so it’s the best near term solution I can think of to offer.

Unfortunately, this is for a complete costume so you can’t change anything out.

And that’s the exact reason why I’ll never buy one of these costumes… I like to be able to mix my armour sets.

Actually OP you don’t have any rights at all. Anet isn’t America. It’s Tyria. You don’t have any rights except the ability to access the server to the game. Those are your rights. Even if you were kicked, and I won’t say you were or weren’t, you still accessed the game. You lost no rewards in the process. You were back in in a matter of seconds.

You could report him, I suppose, but what are they going to realistically to do him? Ban him for 72 hours? I somehow doubt that. Talk to him? Maybe.

Nothing will likely come of it, because nothing really happened, except that your ego was hurt.

Despite the OP being childish for not moving, an Anet employee should not abuse their power like that (if the story’s true). It’s not about who started it here, Anet people should realize they are the face of the company they represent. It’s a matter of professionalism.

We only have one side of the story though. No screen shots. No nothing. Did the Anet employee, who allegedly disconnected him, have other motive than specified. I mean the OP is saying that dev probably wanted to take a screen shot, but he’s theorizing. He didn’t say the dev wanted to take a screen shot.

Anyway, no real reason to believe one way or the other…but my gut says there’s something here we’re not hearing.

Hence the “if the story’s true”

What I’m saying is, if the Anet employee really did DC the OP, then that’s just wrong in this case because that’s abusing his status as an Anet employee, and it’s giving the wrong example for us regular players. Anet players should be an example for other players, and stand above childish behaviour in which they might be tempted to abuse their dev powers for personal reasons.

But as said, we only know one side of the story without anything to properly back it up.

The reason why eotm is full of pver’s pve’ing is that when it first opened the fighting guilds all showed up, said ‘w t f skyham’ and left, never to return.

Doesn’t give anyone the right to dictate other people into adopting their style of playing even if EotM was never intended to be just a loot/karma farm. Just like people who demand that Temple events in Orr have to fail so they can farm them repeatedly, or people who get angry when you defeat a champion in Queensdale before their champ train arrives there… Basically people who’re playing the game in a way that it’s not intended to be played (basically exploiting a “design flaw”) and then get upset with people who play the game as it was meant to be.

Actually, as a Commander of the Pact I think it is way more in-character that the player character defers to the Council Asura, instead of giving in to Taimi who – despite being a traveling companion and genius – is still a child and has acted irresponsibly several times throughout the story. That’s of course very much in-character for her, but from the viewpoint of a Commander it is clearly the better choice to defer to the experienced Asura of the Council. Phlunt might be a snarky kitten like most of them, but he probably didn’t obtain his position (in a culture that seems to be based on meritocracy) by being incompetent.

/sigh

You have a point. However, expecting Taimi to just roll over and take it is wrong.

She didn’t. She pitched a fit, stormed off, and almost got killed. THEN she agreed.

Was it nice of Phlunt? No. It still happened. It happens in real life all the time, although I doubt many of them involve children (could be wrong!). No, it wasn’t fair. But there is a very old saying about that.

It got him to come to the table, though. And, technically, he did say he would “hold it in trust” until she came of age – although I am about as likely to believe he’ll follow through as any of you are. But I’m sure that, by then, Taimi will have ways of making sure he does. She’s a bright girl – and, like any Asura, unlikely to ever forget a slight. If it comes down to a battle of wits between them, I’d put my bet on Taimi.

Especially when you take into account that, unless she’s killed off by a George R.R. Martin wannabe on the writing team, she’ll either fight an elder dragon or assist in the defeat of one, which will make her a hero like Zojja and Snaff. I’m sure she’ll be able to pull some strings by then.

No more Felicia Day? I'm OK with a new VA.

Well, if anything, Tara Strong is very good at mimicing other voice actors so she could probably match Zojja’s voice so closely that most people wouldn’t even be able to tell it’s not the original VA.

I know, right? Colors? Distinguishable, serves it’s purpose, but still going to be boring to see after some time. Least there is more identity to the commander. Ideal shapes for this?

1. Diamond
2. Hearts
3. Clubs
4. Spades
5. Pear

Just don’t make an Apple shaped one because they’ll sue you

Which server - Europe or North America

1) Can’t really say much about this personally
2) I’m from Europe and I play on NA servers, general experience is fine
3) Nope, NA vs. NA servers and EU vs. EU servers
4) I play on NA but I pay in Euros (unfortunately )
5) Sometimes there is lag, especially on busy maps. I think this is on both EU and NA servers
6) Doesn’t matter, with the megaserver system all players from all servers will end up in the same instance of a map (until it’s full and a new instance is created). You’ll see players from all other servers of your region in PvE maps.
7) It’ll cost gems, depending on the rating of the world you’re transferring to

If you want duels so badly go back to WoW and stop complaining…. I’m not waiting for having to decline duel invites every minute or so. It’s basically why I stopped playing WoW after 10 minutes.

I really enjoyed the final fight with the Shadow of the Dragon. It was challenging but still remained to feel very do-able solo. It also felt imminent, which is a feeling I find we lack in GW2 LS.

Plus the Shadow’s design was great.

Isn’t it the same design as the dragon during the first Sylvari personal story? (when you’re still in the Dream).

There are also Norn ghosts in Cursed Shore, so humans aren’t the only ones.

From the wiki:

Most restless spirits have some sort of reason for hanging around a place: an unfinished task, a wrong that needs righting, and so on. They’re often coherent, and you can hold a reasonable conversation with them. They can be obsessive, or angry, but they’re sane—sane for ghosts, at least.

Something is holding her back from going into the Mist. What could it be?

We haven’t told her about all our cool adventures yet as we promised just before she left
