Concern: 350 people! And all they’ve come up with are story updates people outside the game can’t connect with? Where are the big new features? Is there really no expansion planned?
Actually, it sounds like there is an expansion planned. “We have a couple of really big Guild Wars projects cooking in the background,” Johanson told me.
Later, he added: "Some of our players believe that because we are doing this Living World seasons, and these features or these big feature-builds, that it means that the features you would traditionally get in an expansion, or the content you would traditionally get in an expansion, is not something that will get added to Guild Wars 2. And that is not true at all.
“Not only are we doing those things, new features and content you would traditionally get from a boxed expansion are also things that will be added to Guild Wars 2.
“The thing that we haven’t decided yet,” he went on, "is what form that type of content will take. Is it right for Guild Wars 2 for that kind of boxed expansion? Is it right for that to be something we add, live, through storylines in the game? Is that something we want to sell through our in-game store? There are a lot of different options available to us.
“… but we absolutely are going to do sweeping new features that you would traditionally only get in expansions – large regions, content and progression additions to your characters in the form of growth and professions and races. Those are all things that you will see in the lifespan of Guild Wars 2.”
Mike Zadorojny, clarifying his comments from last year – which suggested there wouldn’t be an expansion any time soon – said: “The answer I gave you [in 2013] was that nothing was off the table.”
My only problem with the voices is that all characters of a race/gender will have the same voice,
It gets annoying, having 6 characters that are all different shapes and sizes, but all sound the same,
I would have liked to have seen the option to choose between a few different voices for each character (changeable with makeover kits too)
That would be quite difficult because it would require re-recording all the dialogue with new VA’s, which costs a lot of time and money. Another option could be to have a slider during character creation to change the pitch of the voice. I know other games that have that and it could at least create a little bit of variation, without requiring all the dialogue to be re-recorded.
You don’t need high end computers though. Just out the game settings at their lowest and you should be fine. This applies to the majority of players. However, the ones attempting to play the game by playing on a system that barely meets the requirements will still have issues.
Yeah, I kind of like the game to look good so I’m not gonna do that. That’s just a useless answer.
Imagine if you went to your garage because your car is making a strange noise when going over 50 km/h, and they told you to just drive slower than that, it wouldn’t satisfy you either now would it?
If you don’t like the way the cultural armour looks, either don’t buy it or if you want the stats, transmute another look onto it. Is that a waste? I don’t think so, if the look isn’t what you’re going for.
And if you want male armour you should get a male character

I once watched an episode of Air Crash investigation and I could have sworn the guy who voiced Trahearne did the voice-over for that episode. I looked it up and it wasn’t true, but the voice was identical. So our great commander sounds like a voice-over for a documentary. So inspiring.
I love discovering new land with my male Charr.
“I need more SPACE!”
To be honest, I never had a good chance to listen to them. Too much clattering of weapons on steel around me to actually hear the music. Yay for soundcloud
I actually noticed Scarlet’s way of talking had changed during the Marionette fights, her holograms sounds less teehee than the original scarlet did. I’ve just listened to the journal (only acquired it yesterday but I wanted to save it for a good time to listen to it) and indeed, she talks quite different from how she usually sounds. I like it.
I don’t think so. A Warrior with a staff… doesn’t make much sense
You never watched Ninja Turtles?
A staff could be a great weapon. It would do less damage per hit, but if they make it a very fast weapon that could, for example, knock opponents over or daze them, it could be very effective.
I like the marionette, although I never managed to beat it myself, it seems pretty doable. The worms might be interesting for more “hardcore” players, but I think for casual players it’ll be too difficult. Maybe if fewer champions spawned around it but as it is now, I think it’s very, very difficult to beat it.
The most chains I ever got severed was 3. I genuinely don’t understand when people fail the second champion (the one with the mines) because it’s so simple. Yet, I see a lot of groups failing it and I often end up doing it even thought I’m usually in lane 4 or 5.
Also, too many people take lane 1 just to get the daily and after that they just stop caring.
From this bit of dialogue I get the idea that she’s only interested in Scarlet’s work as an engineer:
You know she’s a homicidal maniac, right?
“I know! But that doesn’t make her any less of an engineer. I could learn so much from her. Genius comes in many colors, you know?”
I mean, a lot of people who have done horrible things had something about them that people can take interest in. Them being horrible people doesn’t take away the fact that they are a genius.
Take for example the German general Rommel, he was respected by a lot of allied commanders because of his skill, but he was still the enemy . I wouldn’t say Scarlet’s exactly like that, because she’s more than a soldier following orders, but my point is that even though someone is an enemy, you can still have respect for certain aspects about them.
Let’s just turn Guild Wars 2 into World of Warcraft, so people who want to pay World of Warcraft can play Guild Wars 2 like it was World of Warcraft.
This one has rubble falling into the water, so it’s probably within an instance. Maybe that’s why you can’t skip it.
Typical how people complain about the Skritt being hit, and even when the Skritt just laughs it off, you still have to use that as an argument against people throwing snowballs at it. The skritt obviously likes it, I have seen no complaints from skritt around here, just a bunch of hippies who claim to speak on behalf of a minority that never asked for your “support”.
Stop being a bunch of goody two-shoes and let the skritt enjoy the snowball fights instead of using them to stroke your own ego.
But in computer land, an empty space is a character.
Also, imagine if someone trying to be funny came up with “Start end”. That would just be annoying.
Why do people always want to get rid of something they don’t like even if they’re not forced to use it? It’s very simple, if you don’t like it, don’t use it. There, that was easy wasn’kitten
Now stop complaining about it :/
Yeah, but that’s enclosed by cliffs and this seems to be quite an open space.
Yeah, it is called Socialism.
But GW2 was built around a Democratic system where everyone pays thier own way for what they use/have.
I think you’re getting Democratic confused with Capitalism. If GW2 was a democratic system, players would have a say in the decisions made by Anet but we have little to no say in them. We can only request things, or leave the game if we don’t like it.
Capitalism is the opposite of socialism.
I got my backpack and Mini Mr. Sparkles yesterday.
From the skritt getting hit point of view.
Ooohh long legs has shiny. Long legs let go of shiny. Shiny is coming closer. Come to me shiny. smacks shiny hit me ?!? Shiny is dripping from face. Don’t leave me shiny, don’t leave me smack oh shiny came back, me so lucky.
If the skritt actually considered snowballs to be shinies, they’d have taken all the snow in lion’s arch by now :P
I only found the slider last week because I’m using a different mouse and suddenly the camera was so extremely slow that I could barely play. So now it’s set to maximum. With my regular mouse I never had that issue (laser vs. optical).
I also had to set my Windows pointer speed to maximum with the optical mouse, otherwise it just felt like it didn’t move at all.
1. Never happened to me, didn’t you just fall off?
2. Also never happened to me
3. Again, never saw that happen to me. Sometimes they’re a bit slow to respain when I’m too fast but I’ve never died from cold because of that
4. Happens a lot, you can also evade to snap out of it. My girlfriend and I call it “being pancaked” because you’re flat as one
5. Again, this never happened to me but it sounds as a typical lag issue.
Do you have lag anywhere else?
Instead they should just pay some Sylvari to stand there while holding a bunch of decorations
I just think it’s funny Talonblaze is accusing Kiel of things that he cannot prove in any way. I don’t know what country you’re from but over here it’s “Innocent until proven guilty”, but you seem to be from Planet Bizarro or something since you think the exact opposite.
What do you mean “more and more skritt have been the subject to pummeling after pummeling with snowballs”? I’m pretty sure it’s just the one snowball figher in Grand Plaza :P
So… if you met two people and one said they’ll kill you and take your money, and the other said they’ll take you home, you’d go with the first one because the second one might kill you and with the first one at least you’d know they’re telling the truth?
Your logic is flawed.
(edited by OmaiGodman.2098)
So in your opinion, it’s okay to steal from others as long as you’re honest about doing so. With that kind of logic, no wonder you like Gnashblade so much.
So what you’re saying is that a hard working, business owning, entrepreneurial spirit like Evon is evil because he’s successful? Thanks to Evon, those “illicit Black Lion taxes” help regulate the value of Tyria’s currency, so as we don’t end up with inflation like another popular game.
I’m still not sure why people support a person who spends all day tinkering with Fractals, while the threat of Scarlet is still around. At least
Mister EEvon and “Jory” are around to help protect Lion’s Arch, since a certain someone else has been neglecting her job as a Lionguard.
Yeah, keeping stolen goods for himself instead of returning them to their rightful owners sounds like he is a true, honest and hard worker…
The only time it sounds really emotionless is when shes snared, but thats intentional I believe.
“I. Cant. Move.”
Actually I like that one, it sounds really frustrated which is how I’d feel in such a situation. I generally find the voice to be emotionless, and it often sounds as if it’s all just read from a piece of paper. Which is probably true, but you get my point.
We kinda got to see Captain Evon Gnashblade didn’t mind playing dirty, or bribing, or leaving veiled implications of more underhanded stuff going on.
And this is the reason I didn’t vote for Gnashblade. He stinks of corruption and if I want to vote for someone like him I’ll wait for real-life elections.
Man, check out Kiel’s nasty comments about Evon. First she send me a vitreous mail “thanking” me for voting for her and now this? I never met a more sore winner than her.
What nasty comments?
She was saying something in the effect that even though I didn’t vote for her, she’d work for what I want (and still gave me the wrong fractal) unlike that OTHER candidate.
I don’t really see what part of that comment could be considered “nasty” then. Isn’t that what all officials say after elections anyway?
I still hope that Anet is working on making the Tengu a playable race, and to have Dominions of Winds added as a new city/starter area.
Well, they DID add one new healing skill for each profession, which is something. But other than that, I don’t think I can see any skill that wasn’t there around the time I started playing.

Dear bartmoss.5107,
You seem confused, so here’s a hint: Guild Wars 2 is supposed to be a game with a broad audience in mind, not just you.
Stop complaining when you don’t like a very specific part of the game.
Instead, please spend your energy enjoying the parts of the game that do appeal to you.
Thanks.
And why fix something that isn’t broken?
people only care for big events now that get them a lot of loot… the problem with the smaller events is that the seem so insignificant. you help a guy protect a fortress from skritt once, you come back 10 minutes later to find the place overrun anyway. Unless you need the XP, there is little satisfaction to get from that.
I love how Gnashblade fanboys are so easily offended whenever people talk bad about him. He’s like the Steve Jobs of the Guild Wars universe.
They do a random selection of players each year.
How big is the selection? I might just die of happiness if I got one.
Then they won’t send you one, they’d lose a (potentially) paying customer :P
I would like user Avatars so that it’s easier to distinguish between users but other than that, this is one of the few forums that actually has a unique and consistent look to go with the site it belongs to
How about a trade Anet? I give you my address, you send me an awesome card and make me feel appreciated
Not really misheard but still one of my favourite lines in the game, after saving Wark from a bunch of harpies:
“Who would buy a product that gives you harpies?”
(not sure if that’s the literal quite but it’s among those lines)
Perhaps they don’t need just skritt around them to be more intelligent, other sentient beeings may have thesame effect on them.
So skritt living in a crowded multicultural area like Lions Arch could be intelligent because there are simply a lot of people there.
Not really possible, Skritt have a “hive mind” by rapidly communicating with eachother in a way other species can’t hear. So other species shouldn’t have any effect on their collective intelligence.
Yesterday I ran the champ train in Queensdale for a little under an hour I think, sold every single piece of equipment and got about two gold for it. Usually I play longer but yesterday wasn’t a lot of fun, usually there’s a lot of randomness going around on the mapchat which makes it fun even if it’s very repetitive.
I’m sure you will find it here, but you’ll have to scroll down a bit.
Hope that helps, cheers.
It’s all the way at the bottom. But… the adventure box music is also there! Time to complete my GW2 OST
Never knew of the ANet soundcloud, thanks
Wow, you’re being charged virtual money for virtual services in a virtual world.
The only thing I can think of is… Wow, such first world problems :/
I think it’s a shame I can’t buy seperate festive hats, I don’t really like the fancy winter attire to be honest, I’d rather just have bought a christmas hat for all my characters
I have no heart for the skritt, nothing but a bunch of thieves the whole lot of them.
(reminds me to much of those kitten magpie’s near my house)
I like the skritt, and I’m sure there are groups of skritt that have adapted a more acceptable lifestyle of not stealing and instead have turned to scavenging. Basically, they’re recyclers and as long as they’re not stealing from others, I don’t see a problem with that. Just saying, not all skritt are bad.
Thieving skritt should of course be dealt with appropiately but overall I see less harm in them than for example those disgusting barn animals that are known as centaurs.
