I’m all for more variety, but there are plenty of skimpy armors already in terms of percentage (as Raestloz pointed out, basically half of all the female light stuff would be considered skimpy anywhere that wasn’t a hot summer day outside).

This is simply not true. Most of the armors are “revealing”, yes, but not “skimpy”. And the “revealing” isn’t the same across everything.

Most are simply “revealing” because they show cleavage, which is pretty much not unusual even on urban/rural streets. I only include them to save myself from feminists that would scream at me otherwise.

I ask for more things like Masquerade (80 rare light female) or human female T3 armors, they’re skimpy, but also looks elegant. Skimpy for the sake of skimpy such as Scarlet Blade / Tera armors are not what I’m talking about.

Baby got “show” back! On new skimpy armor.

Take the flame and frost dungeon.

In my idea that dungeon would’ve used “Ascalon Dungeon Token”. So you can use your extra “Ascalon Dungeon Token” earned through the other dungeon in the region on flame and frost dungeon rewards.

This also gives players a incentive to replay dungeons. That they already have the rewards for. Because the tokens can be used at another dungeon in the region.

All dungeon in a region would also use the SAB model.

Hrm, F&F is also located in shiverspeak area…. So why not tokens for there?

I don’t support this idea. This would just kill any hard dungeon’s population but everyone would be wearing the armor.

“Hey! Full arah gear! Sweet this is gonna be a great run! "

Person with arah gear. “Wait, giganticus stupidicus who!?!?!?!!?”

Yeah.. He deserves it.

Yeah.. He deserves it.Current system is fine in my opinion.

For future dungeons, Anet would have to stick to one region.

This idea would balance the dungeon population in each dungeon. Because players no longer have to grind the same dungeon all day long.

I would rather have them change the many paths of each dungeon into Tiers with different difficulty, and award tokens based on the difficulty tier!

That doesn’t conflict with my idea.

In my idea tokens earned in 2 different dungeons, in the same region. Can redeem the same rewards.

Ehhh… I don’t get it!

This makes dungeon tokens within a region interchangeable. Meaning 1 dungeon currency for a region. To buy any dungeon rewards within that region with that one currency.

The 12 dungeon tokens should be replaced with “regional dungeon tokens”. And dungeons should also use the SAB model.

New dungeon tokens
*Kryta Dungeon Token
*Tarnished Coast Dungeon Token
*Shiverpeak Mountains Dungeon Token
*Ascalon Dungeon Token
*Ruins of Orr Dungeon Token
*Fractal Dungeon Token or Mists Dungeon Token

Why do this.
*EX. all “Kryta Dungeon Token” can redeem rewards from any dungeon in Kryta.
*Alleviates the grind of farming the same dungeon repeatedly.
*Players can play the dungeons they want to earn any dungeon reward in the area.
*Players will play different dungeons more often.
*Reduces the number of dungeon currencies.
*region tokens are interchangeable, meaning extra tokens can still be used.
*Hate a dungeon, play another in the Region.

One exception: players have to complete a dungeon once to buy it’s rewards in regional dungeon tokens.

It’s like the SAB. In that Chest rewards are sellable. While regional tokens can redeem account/soulbound items.

Elementalist able to weapon swap ?

Elementalists have the best weapons swap ever…. There elements. You know those count as weapon swaps towards weapon sigils. Thats 4 weapon swaps for you sigil and 20 skills instead of 10. Win!

You Know this post is about having a place in the hero panel to equip more than one weapon.

Why should Elementalists have to use more bag space to store their favorite weapons? And why should Elementalists have go through the extra trouble to swap their favorite weapons from their bag?

Elementalists NEED a swap in the hero panel! Their could be a long cooldown if need necessary.

Why no capes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Onshidesigns.1069

I’d kill for getting capes back. The only race where there would be any difficulty would be charr and I’m sure they could have thought of a solution for it. Too bad though, they said something to the effect of “No, we will never bring capes back because of the charr”.

Back banners are ugly as hell and no one has time to look at that in the middle of a fight.

Capes clearly showed the guild emblem in all its glory and what’s more, the bronze/silver/gold trim that you had on them in GW1 could show the prowess of the particular guild.

Like someone above said though, ANET want to distance themselves as much as possible from GW1 and they reject absolutely everything about it, apart from the lore it seems, which conveniently they can also put behind them as happening 250+ years ago.

Who’s going to see it but the your team or PvE players? The enemy can’t move their camera to see you leaving their dead body.

Back banners may be ugly to some. But that doesn’t mean Anet won’t make new styles.

Also capes are for comic superheros.

Unless the dungeon is soloable, no. I’m sick of being forced to party to complete content.

Does it really take that much energy to type in map chat “LFG” or “LFxM dungeon” or just typing into the party invitation pane “character name” and clicking join to a person looking for more? Or is it because you just don’t like playing with other people, because if that’s the case it baffles me that you’re playing an MMO like GW2, where the entire world is based upon cooperation.

Yes it kittening does because people start asking other questions. I don’t have time to waist. When I just want to play.

Downscaled Content is Far, Far Too Easy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Onshidesigns.1069

Onshidesigns.1069

So, I made a level 1 Elementalist to do a simple test. Go out of Queensdale and start killing mobs. I’m level 7 at the moment and I’m using mostly the starter gear, without head gear (I transmuted the skin on another char), without shoulders. I think I have a blue chest armor and nothing else, obviously no traits and just a single utility skill.

I wasn’t the least bit surprised that it takes this character faaaaaar less time to kill mobs of the same level than any of my level 80 take to kill mobs in Orr… I don’t see an issue with those low level mobs being easy to kill, they are already easy to kill for low level characters, keep in mind that at low levels people are still training, they are not masters of the game mechanics, especially if it’s their first character.

So all the suggestions about making content harder are from people who actually want content to be a lot harder for a level 80 than for a level 1? How would that make any sense? My level 7 kills level 7 mobs almost as fast as my level 80, there is no challenge for me (but those without experience will have trouble). Maybe they should normalize difficulty for mobs at level 30 and up, maybe it was a huge mistake to make mobs at levels 1-30 offer level 80 drops.
Remember when the game was released there was a cap in the game, you couldn’t NOT get level 80 gear/rewards from killing very low level mobs, maybe they should revert that, and also make even daily achievements work only on “relevant” mobs (30+ for level 80s) and not for everywhere. That way you can keep the game hard, as hard as it is at level 80, but at the same time give new players the chance of learning the game mechanics first, as the first levels 1-30 could be used as a tutorial of shorts.

Levels are only for traits, armor and to help guide players through zones in this game.

I like obtaining high level items in low level zones. This encourages players to revisit those zones. Also why should a the whole game Ever become obsolete? Anet wants zones to evolve over time.

I think, the horrible “chess” like golem thing you can play in Metrica Province, at the first heart, is also considered to be a mini game…

The golem chess game is too simple and boring. It needs to be expanded to support 5 players. Add some more abilities, and achievements.

Also make it a gambling game. Each player pays one silver and the winner keeps most of the pot. The rest of the pot would be a gold sink.

buy more bag slots and invisible bags and store what you like, it will never display to sell by vendor problem solved and you will be able to story even more exotics, not only 2

That’s not the point! Equipping and re-equipping changes the data for the location of the weapon. If the server crashes while moving a exotic. There is a chance that it will be lost.

Look at the image. Traits limit the Elementalist in useful skills.

Doesn’t matter, switching from staff to dagger mid combat will still make him OP regardless of a couple of traits as his close range attacks become faster. As it is elementalists already have the most skills available at any one point, doubling that would seriously impact balance and complexity. There’s a good reason why eles can’t have two weapons at once, cause they already have four attunements.

There is no imbalance when Elementalist have to pay to reset their traits.

Only one to two of the four attunements are even useful.

Another reason for a swap is a place to store a exotic.

A good elementalist uses ALL skills, not just the few he traited. Each skills can be good in different situations, and even though he isn’t traited in water doesn’t mean he should never use water to heal allies for example, adding another weapon set doubles his already too big potential.

I would have to try playing that way. But I still need a swap at least in the hero panel to store my other exotics.

Choosing what magic to put your traits in limits a player two only one or two types of useful magic.

Also the type of magic doesn’t seem to affect enemies differently. I think it should but it would mean reworking how traits work. And it add more complexity to boss fight.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Poison is not a high damage ability. Though I really don’t understand how they nerfed confusion but not bleeding and burning.

Bleeding does about 120 dmg/stack/tick. It can last ~12 seconds and is easily applied in stacks of 15-20. You can not avoid the damage

Confusion after the nerf does 150 dmg/stack/tick it is capped at 10 seconds, but usually only lasts 4-5, it is very difficult to stack more then 5 stacks on a person for more then a split second. You can easily avoid all damage from it by not attacking.

Bleeding does 2-3x more damage on average now then confusion, it needs to have a 66% nerf imo.

Bleeding works as intended. Why should Confusion be equal to bleeding? You are not taking in account the other skills of mesmer.

males almost everywhere are portrayed with a figure that a natural male could not get, are portrayed shirtless (while a woman will always get a bra at least). If you decide to say that sexualization of women is sexist then sexualization of men that happens just as often is too. Otherwise you’re just being biased.

I already addressed this issue much earlier in this thread. Portraying an ideal beauty is done for both genders equally. But that’s different from consistently portraying women in their underwear, which is something we don’t do to men at all. Men are not sexualized as often as women, the two are miles apart.

In respect to April o Neil, I agree that having her learn martial arts is very contrived. April fulfills two tropes about women in one: The smurfette principal (she’s almost the only female character in the show, apart from Irma, who is a stereotype of her own) and the Damsel in Distress (she gets kidnapped every episode, so men can save her). Both tropes are bad, because the writers don’t write women as actual characters.

The recent action-girl trope is also annoying. The recent Tomb Raider is guilty of this, where a pretty girl who is not convincing as an action hero, is placed into a position where she learns to kick butt. Often the writers struggle trying to give her an actual character, so instead they have characters around her die as an artificial plot device for character development. Most of the focus is still on the girl being pretty first and fore most, and being an interesting character is less important. There’s nothing wrong with a girl fulfilling the role of an action hero. But a lot of male writers have difficulty looking past the fact that she must be pretty. If you want to see a nice bit of pretentiousness, check out this video:

But girls can also be action stars without being a vapid empty barbie doll. The Uncharted series succeed in actually writing convincing female characters. And while they are love interests to the male protagonist, they are much more than that.

What makes the female characters in Uncharted so briljant in their writing, is the fact that they are not written out of the story as new love interests are introduced. They are not throw away love interests like in a Bond movie. And the interaction between the two female characters is a great source of comic relief as well. Uncharted 2 did this briljantly, where they show that Nate really has a soft spot for the more average Elena, even though Cloe is a much more sensual and attractive girl.

Tomb Raider: I think this is a improvement, compared to the way Lara was portrayed in the older Tomb Raider games.

You bring up Bond girls. Isn’t Bond himself a unachievable stereotype for men to reach? So it’s not a big deal for the women to be the same.
