Ah yes, I am sure they would go with a model that would make them less money if they had an alternative that would give them a more steady and increased income.
Most people take the quick money first.
Maybe this is a open world guild raid?
Greed, want a quick buck. Instead of a bigger but more long term profit.
you people have 0 patience and really bad memory it seems.
Last year Halloween was released in 4 acts. Act 1 was just the scavenger hunt and doors that you could only open and fight stuff that came up in their you couldn’t even get to the labyrinth before act 2.
There is at least 1 other update to halloween shouldnt you wait for that at least?
also halloween is ruined because of the changes? changes like you can actually see where you’re going in the jumping puzzle now something that was super requested last year?
Some asked for this. And some like the old version. This should be a option.
Anet will make more from cheaper temp cosmetic items. Than overpriced ones that players may only buy once.
I’ll have to try the knock animation with other weapon sets than a short bow.
I’m not playing the Labyrinth for the whole event.
I was talking about open world doors being no challenge.
And stop replying like that, it’s annoying.
You need 80 to 10+ players to even have a chance of winning. Tequatle is now just a raid for huge guilds. And most of those large guilds do the event in overflow and low populated servers.
You are just being a troll! No one in their right mind would be for more expensive items meant for fun.
Which would kitten off all those that bought it when they were released just to find out that a few hours later the price dropped. Don’t you see the issue with this?
I have NEVER seen something drop in price a few hours after release, especially not that steeply.
Taking about the Halloween fireworks? Players are paying for the buff for their guilds. Not the fun aspect of the item.
The buff would no longer be on new Halloween Firework sales. But old Halloween firework sales will retain the buff.
Temp items meant for fun should not have a buff. With a cheap price to encourage players to use them.
Bonfires look cool but are meant as a group buff item and not for fun. Players are paying for the buff.
But release it for free aside a living story patch. Gem sales will cover the costs!
I have seen sales, but sales just a few hours after something was released? (Unless they had a sale as part of the release that is) No, I have not actually seen that, and that is exactly what you were saying. “Drop the price down as soon as it has paid for the dev cost”.
That is the right thing to do.
Do you see old DvD movies in stores for $19.99? No they are to $1.00 to $9.99.
Except if you’re Disney. They make it so you can only buy their movies when they want you too. To milk more money out of them.
This year its terribad, i will have to admit i was tingling with anticipation and when it came around it felt like the holiday got pooped on
I don’t even want to think what Winterdays is going to be like. With what they did to Halloween. I’m actually expecting extreme grinding now and lackluster (1 per account) rewards… I don’t want it and I hope I’m wrong, but thats probably how its going to be.
We do still have a patch left (with 2 weeks for whatever it adds), which may add ascent to madness (still need mad king says as well), but unless it somehow gives 50s/100s of the corn/materials, there is no way it can recover what was lost due to the changes for the first part/patch.
I’m nervous too. I don’t want to think about Winter’s Day either, but it’ll be here before you know it. It seems like they took everything that was slightly good about the Queen’s Gauntlet and strained only the bad pieces out. Still, we can only hope for the best.
They will NERF the Princess Dolls.
Anet took the whole “Trick or Treat” aspect out of the doors this year.
Last year actually knocked on the doors. They received candy of got horde of enemies. It took a group effort to close some of the doors.
And this year, you knock and get transported into an Underworld-esque realm with all your nodes and halloween related activities in one convenient place, without bothering people in the overworld.
That’s a pretty sweet trick with some pretty cool treats to boot.
PvE version of the inquisition for people that don’t like the inquisition. It’s a good deal. Much more elaborate than last year.
Different strokes for different folks.
There is no knock animation on doors like last year. No challenge from enemies coming out of the doors.
The Mad King Labyrinth is the same as last year. Except no Reapers Rumble and adding Legendary enemies.
Halloween was REMOVED from MOST of the open world!!!
Also at so point the development costs of festive items have been paid for. They should drop the price at that point, so more players can afford these fun items. Anet may even make a larger profit this way.
Expensive festive items are bought more by guild farming and not with cash.
So basically kitten off those that bought the item in the first place just to find out that a day after release they could have gotten the same item for much less?
Ever seen a sale? They are not advertised ahead of time.
Anet is not making money off these items now! They cost too much to use real money on.
Players buying more expensive items in the gem store. Will use their left over gems on smaller less expensive festive items.
Cheap festive items will also act as a gold and gem sink.
Anet needs cheap items for impulse buyers.
Oh?
I see a rather massive amount of those items around in the game at all times, but I suppose they were somehow hacked into the game rather than bought then?Players buying more expensive items will already have bought the gems, thus if they use the leftovers or not is quite uninteresting from a money-making view. There are also quite a few cheap items that they most likely could spent the gems on.
“Expensive” festive items is also acting as a gold and gem sink. In order for it to work just as good as it is now one most be able to guarantee that the amount of cheaper items would provide a large enough sale to be comparable to the amount currently being bought at the “expensive” price.
Impulse buyers will by items they find nice no matter the price.
Many players horded Free “SAB’s of Fun” when Stage 1 was released.
Many players have received 5 free “Box’s of fun” in mail. I also think it is a one time reward for something, can’t remember what that was.

How about letting these enemies spawn from doors in the open world. Maybe 1 in 30 chance.
Grand High Viscount of Candy Corn
Labyrinthine Horror
Legendary Skeletal LichNo thanks.
Why, the Halloween doors are boring as they are now.
The doors in the open world are a little stale. That’s because you’re supposed to enter the doors and head to the labyrinth. This way you can fight the legendaries, farm candy corn nodes, and get your door achievements all in one spot.
Anet took the whole “Trick or Treat” aspect out of the doors this year.
Last year actually knocked on the doors. They received candy of got horde of enemies. It took a group effort to close some of the doors.

No.
These are items you don’t need. They are extras, and they still cost money to create. Why would they bother spending money on creating stuff if they don’t really earn enough from it?
Anet is not making money off these items now! They cost too much to use real money on.

People expected a bigger Halloween this year but instead it’s smaller. With all the other updates I don’t think a better Halloween then last year is greedy.
However as far as other updates. Some people seem to expect too much. As they seem to think we wont get large updates through the living story. Even though Anet said they are working on traditional expansion like content.
Some gem store items are obviously meant just for fun. And some gem store are obviously buff items.
The problem is when Anet mixes the Fun with Festive (Halloween Fireworks). And then charging a exorbitant price to enjoy the fun aspect of these items.
Fun items with no buffs should be very affordable. Because they give the game world a fun festive feel. That will help keep players interested in the game.
The other players was what made it fun.
Having it a PvP game adds more wait time.Last year was better!
It is a race, in no race I know of are you legally permitted to take up so much space as to block the track from other participators. That would completely defeat the purpose of a race in the first place, and is why all races have standardized size and lanes.
The other players are still there, you are still competing against them in the exact same race as last year, the only change is that you now are not required to grief or be griefed upon depending on your character. I play a max size norn, I felt sorry for a lot of the other guys last year and didn’t play it as much as I wanted because of that. Now I don’t have that problem, and I don’t see how anybody could think removing something that required certain players to grief against their will was a bad idea.
And I’ve no idea where you got that timing nonsense from but the wait time is exactly the same. Not sure why they moved it to PvP, possibly a technical issue with transforms and traits or something, but it hasn’t affected the timing by a single second.
Nascar, indycar
That’s why there are driving teams in motorsports. So drivers can team up and block traffic.
Last 1:30 minutes are unplayable. Then you have to wait for a new loading screen and game to start.
Exactly how is adding a second person making yourself larger? It’s not, there is a great difference between teamwork and cheating. And not all races allow teams, the clock tower obviously being one of them, it is a free for all just as it was meant to be. Teaming up to block smaller character’s view was not competition, it was griefing.
And once again, it had the same wait time last year, if you got through in the best time possible, you were going to have a short wait before the next round. Nowhere did I say there is no wait time, I said that time had not increased, because it has not.
You have to wait at the last 1:30s left for the game to end. Then wait for a load screen.
Last year I didn’t have any problems getting past Nords.
How about letting these enemies spawn from doors in the open world. Maybe 1 in 30 chance.
Grand High Viscount of Candy Corn
Labyrinthine Horror
Legendary Skeletal LichNo thanks.

I know you might not care about them. But they are meant to be seen. To add atmosphere to the halloween event. But no one wants to pay the cost to use them.
Anet put a lot of work into these items. But they also priced them too high to sell.
I made another post here that address this topic somewhat.
Cosmetic temp items should be very cheap. Because they add a fun festive atmosphere to the game. With no buff, they are only meant for fun. And should cost about 20 gems each.
*NEW, cosmetic holiday fireworks.
*Box of Fun
*SAB of Fun
These fun items also serve as a good gold sink.
More expensive buff items
*bonfire
*New, Holiday themed bonfire’s (this would replace buff fireworks)
Buff items like these are only to provide stats to players. With only a small amount of fun.
If it’s festive, it should be a cheap cosmetic item.
If it’s a buff item, it can be visible with little fun.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Why not a Holiday version of the bonfire and cheap cosmetic holiday fireworks instead?
Toy Camera, that player holds in game. Sold for about 500 gems.
Options
*FPV
*High Res
*Black and White
*Panoramic
*Tilt camera
*Time Lapse
*Zoom in/Zoom out
*Self portait
*Save file as
*Hold standing or kneeling
*visual distortions (like drinking effects)
*Particle effects over image (like glitter)

The Manifesto is as relevant to Anet as the US Constitution is this government.
It’s free to just play for fun. Most people saying not to come back are still playing.
Surly players would want more champs with loot bags in the open world.
The other players was what made it fun.

Next year can we have a cutscene for the Lunatic Boatmaster. Where we see bone ship leave it’s dock.
How about letting these enemies spawn from doors in the open world. Maybe 1 in 30 chance.
Grand High Viscount of Candy Corn
Labyrinthine Horror
Legendary Skeletal Lich
You would need some kind of candy corn coding to defeat the Grand high viscount of candy corn.
Suggestion to Anet, How about removing the group buff on any new Halloween fireworks sold. Than drop the price to 5 for 100 gems.
This way everyone will actually get to see the fireworks.
If it is for the MF boost then a bonfire would be better.
If it is for the fireworks display … uh $3.75 for a couple of seconds of sparkles?
Bonfire has the same buff and even costs more than Halloween fireworks.
Last years Halloween stages were not official updates. I think they just unlocked things already in the first Halloween update.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Anyone seen anybody set off Halloween fireworks? I’m sure guilds buy them with farmed money. But have yet to see any players buy them and using them.
Could the price be to High?
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Last years version was better!
It’s exactly the same except that you can’t use PvE gear, your traits are (actually) disabled (they were supposed to be last year but were not), and you can no longer grief with larger characters.
The other players was what made it fun.
Having it a PvP game adds more wait time.
Last year was better!
I only care about more Halloween content right now.
We still haven’t seen everything. I’m sure the Mad King dungeon fight is still coming.
Lunatic Inquisition is the same in think. Reaper’s Rumble was the other mini game.
I was here last Halloween also. I’m hoping the Bloody Prince is just the opening act to kick off the Halloween event.
We have yet to seen:
*dungeon fight with the Mad King.
*Mad King break out into LA.
*Reaper’s Rumble isn’t playable yet.
*Scavenger hunt
*increase in candy corn nodes
*and anything new related to the Mad King.
*or the new town clothing that Anet said would be available.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Last years version was better!
Is Blood and Madness just First part of Halloween? And more stages will be added with more achievements.
The reason I ask this is because the event currently is revolving around Bloody Prince and not the Mad King.
We have yet to see what the Mad King has planned for us.
I just found out the same thing. I have tears in my eyes atm :S I thought it would be like last year. Character. Looked at them with my Engi, then decided I wanted them more for my warrior. But I opend the box already. So no awesome gloves for my warrior
I do hate these tiny buggers in the game.
Awesome looking gloves? The skin is not unique – it is your standard named exotic drop skin – you can buy one from the TP for ~1g.
Free vs 1g, I’ll take free with Halloween stats. How would it hurt to give the player a account bound glove once a day?
I haven’t Lunatic Inquisition yet, but plain too. Are saying that “Mad King Says” is in Lunatic Inquisition this year and not LA?
Did you spawn the small golem during the fight. I don’t know if it affects it. But I spawned him and talked to the him. And received the achievement.
The doors don’t work the same way as last year.
*Last year we actually knocked on the doors.
*think we said “trick or treat” when knocking.
*more enemies popped out of them.
*Doors were in 1-70 zones.
*you could not enter doors until later in the event.
