I see plenty of ppl coming, plenty of overflows…And as KQ goes, you know when was last time i did her? Today.

There are plenty of screens of barren main server maps elsewhere in this forum. That has never happened with anything Anet has released in 8 years. This is a first.

To start, for every screenshot of an empty sparkfly with just Tequatl, there’s one of a full zone that fights him.

More players means more players taking screen shots.

Failure is not a bad thing.

That is the only word I can use to describe the complainers right now.

Keep trying. Help your group rather than scream at them because of what “they did wrong”. I was in one of those groups today and we didn’t even get him to 75%.

I then joined another overflow where there were 3 commanders telling everyone what to do an hour before the fight. We went over it a few times, everybody got organized, and we ALMOST killed him! It was honestly so close we pretty much did beat him.

So rather than feel like you’re entitled to something, how about you actually try to participate and be positive in a group rather than complaining about how you can’t solo a dragon.

The new Tequatl fight is awesome and I sincerely hope ANet does more content like this in the future rather than listening to the whiners. And if they do end up listening, I hope we see this kind of content in 20 man raids or something, because we definitely need more like it.

I’ve beaten him about 12 times now and aside from the first one or two times I’ve done the same thing every single time. I’ve played exactly the same and I only get better with consumables, optimised armour, optimised builds, optimised use of the fiery great sword etc. I failed him twice on the weekend and the times I failed it I was doing everything the same as 10 of the times I beat him.

It sucks to lose a fight when you do nothing wrong. It’s certainly a map effort and the honest truth is your best bet to win this isn’t to play as best as you can, it’s to pick your map. The map with the smallest number of randoms is the one you want to be on. If you can get your large guild on a map, that’s the one you want to be on.

I honestly don’t think Tequatl is hard. Getting random players who need to be carried to do basic things like stack on commander at his foot, run PTV or similair gear, jump waves, have few people defending turrets and the ones that do kite the champions away and have competent turret users. Most of these things are fairly easy. Nothing in this encounter comes close to being as difficult as Lupicus let alone Liadri. Pre-nerf Kholer is harder than this encounter.

Honestly I think Tequatl is most similair to the graveling burrows in AC. It’s fairly easy when the participants know what they are doing and are somewhat optimised for it, but it’s incredibly difficult when you have little to no control over the other people you rely on and aren’t able to mimic the winning strategy for whatever reason.

I honestly think if you had a full zerg of soldier gear characters, running the proper buffs, with embers etc, optimised builds and everyone using a solid strategy (melee at the foot, few people defending turrets so champions don’t spawn etc), you would see Tequatl drop with almost no chance to fight back. The players themselves would need to use minimal skill. I frequently see Tequatl only get a single stomp in – if that – between laser phases because the burn phase does that much DPS.

ArenaNet needs to stop designing DPS races. It dumbs down the game and pushes out lots of skillful viable builds.

The hardest part about Tequatl is getting a map with people who know what they are doing and a sliver of discipline. The actual fight itself is fairly easy once you have that.

The last part is the problem. This event should not require so many coordinated players. Dragons are main focus of the story and are meant be for everyone.

The dragon needs to scale to smaller groups.

Raids should be like the temples in Orr. They should be available at any time until a large group defeats them.

I like Tequatl but hate that it does not scale. Not scaling to me turns this into a Raid.

It does scale. From 80 ppl upwards. And temples are not available at any time, after you cleanse it its going on timer cycle like any other event. Only difference is, temples have pre events.

If it does scale at 80, that’s still too many players.

At Least one temple is usually closed at a given time. So there are almost always temples to do. And you have guesting to other servers also.

Have you tryed pressing Alt durring world bosses? Dunno about your server, but at mine there is at least 100 ppl on every boss. Jormag usually causes overflow even on work days, and im not even on Gandara or some large pve server…

Im sure they used some sort of criteria for 80 ppl limit, not simply saying 80 is good number lets do that.

TC is my server and it is only in overflow during pick hours. If TC can’t beat it anytime, there is a huge problem.

The Dragon is dropping Ascended weapons now. And many players are saying kitten this.

Dragons are too important in the story to be a guild raid.

Entitlement is how large guilds think to Tequatl is RAID content for them. This is not RAID content. Dragon fights are for everyone

The fight does not scale. So Anet give content for everyone and handed it over the large guilds.

RC Golem is a OK but few people want to play it.

ideas for changes
*making the RC Golem board bigger
*3 to 5 players
*add gambling option (10 silver each to add to pot)
*as players die their square becomes unusable.

Anet should make more areas for players to just hang out in each zone. For Role Players or players who want to take a break.

Take this place in the image. It’s a small hot spring. Perfect for relaxing between killing enemies. But Anet put 3 enemies there.

Zones should be about more than killing and doing DE’s. They should be places for players to want to do other things.

Underwater Content

Part of the problem is not having any ground targeting skills underwater. If Anet can figure out how to cast these skills in open water. It would make underwater combat more interesting.

There also needs to be more underwater weapons.
*Daggers, why not use underwater? There small and light.
*Focus, any reason this can’t be a underwater weapon?
*Warhorn, use a sea shell instead.
*Short bows are used underwater for hunting.

Add activities based around water like Fishing, Races, places for Roleplayers.

This is not raid content for guilds. As it is now, it takes large guilds to win the fight.

Dragons are for everyone because the story revolves around them to much. So the fight should scale to the number of players fighting.

Between each dragon fight. There are no targetable enemies for player who want to do turret training. That means all players using a turret are learning during their first few fights.

How about adding a champ the can only be killed using the turrets. It would spawn where the dragon is and roam around. Have a stack of armor like dragon. Once armor is gone turret trainers can use skill 1 to kill the champ. No loot for killing him, it’s only training.

Fish heads-Make so players can destroy them with skill 1. Then use 3 to cleanse area. Fish heads will still respawn.

Some players seem to think this is some alternative to raids. It’s not meant to be guild only content.

Noone says the Tequatl fight shouldn’t be challenging. But not to scaling the fight is gate-ing it towards large guilds. Tequatl needs to scale from up to 200 players.

Also the main story is focused around the dragons. So this content should not require such a organized large guild.

Just defeated the Unseen Hunter. He dop a Shell Pouch with a exotic Bonetti’s Rapier for me.

For some reason he was very easy to kill on land. Just me and one other solo player. I’m not sure why the champion died so quickly.

Things that are in a traditional expansion with be realized through the living story. Some living stories will be much bigger than other ones.

Don’t inspect a huge amount of features all at once. We will get new zones, races, crafting, new stories, housing, guild halls and so on. But don’t expect it in one large bulk expansion!

What if Anet made a Rune Switcher Item? That is sold for 100 gems. It would switch a unequipped rune with the equipped rune. Your new rune would then be account or soulbound.

What if we could use finishers PvE. Not on every enemy of course. But in rare situations where we knock some types enemy down. Finisher wouldn’t be required to defeat an enemy.

This has been experimented with in the clockwork invasions. To prevent some enemies from using a final attack.

Ex: a downed champion but not dead is about to use a suicide move to kill everyone. Players would have to work together to create a group finisher move.

If they are going to make multiple versions of gathering tools. That’s more reason to make them account bound. To give players more reason for players to want to collect these new gathering tools.

Many players will only buy one bone pick. When they already equipped multiple characters with the other pick. But over time Account bound is better so players are more likely want to collect gathering tools.

Hearts are too cute and kiddy to use in some areas. A compromise would be to use a broken heart symbol or a bleeding Heart symbol in those areas.

This game is too cheerful even in some lower level areas.

Nah, it needs to be consistent so you know what you’re looking for. While many players would be able to figure it out or pay attention and take note, there are plenty that would be confused by the different symbols.

They will lean. Besides Anet adds new icons all the time in events.

Right now Renown Hearts are the only thing that gives towns meaning. I would rather Add more to the RH system.

*Endless Quests (Ex. lost and found, Kidnapping, investigation, randomly generated DE’s)
*Randomly generated Instances quests
*cutscene in towns
*add more lore too towns

There is absolutely going to be Halloween this year. The Mad King wouldn’t miss out on an opportunity to come back and share his latest batch of terrible jokes. And open a spot for you in his lovely tower.

With the first update for October hitting on the 1st, the next update afterward would hit with plenty of time to spare before Mad King’s day.

October 22 through November 1 was too short last year.

I also hope you expanded some of the theme into other cities.

As I remember there was alot of overflows last year… yea ANet 2 weeks wasn’t enough time for puzzles, games, maze, and trick-or-treats, plus Mad King.

I was panicking over time issues.

There’s a level I say ‘ok’. But the balance between magic and technology is 20-80% at best.

So steampunk is not fantasy?

Megalasers aren’t steampunk. Terminators aren’t steampunk. Golems aren’t steampunk.

The term is Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk is Science fiction Fantasy that depicts unrealistic or exaggerated future technologies.

Seriously, I thought I bought a fantasy game. But after seeing megalasers attached to skyships defended by golems, and repelling a terimantor invasion from an alternate future (after I destroyed a high-tech weapon facility), what about magic? Most of the classes are magic users. Only engineers and sometimes thieves fit this game nothing else (warrior is totally outdated). Others are outcasts.

Why aren’t we replaced with golems? It’s just a matter of time I guess.

TA was one of the few fantasy-only dungeons, but BAM it needs some technology for sure.

Will fantasy ever return?

Mega Lasers, skyships, golems, terminators, alternate futures are fantasy based. This game has been a mix of different levels of fantasy technologies since release.

I like the different themes. It separates GW2 from all those WoW clones.

Not all achievements should be handed out on a silver spoon. Few hard mode events are welcome in a MMO and this is coming from someone who has yet to down Teq and believe me I’ve tried, haha.

Have fun finding a server with the number of players needed to defeat Tequatl.

And this content is not meant to be exclusive to large guilds.

Ignored casual players? lol This is the first actual hard content that has been added for the non-casual players. Every other update besides this one was direct at the casual player.

This content was not made to be a raid for so-called hardcore players! It’s open world content for everyone.
