I would only limit the blade color options. So the blades look like metal, crystal, or volcanic glass.
I approve this post.
More players would collect these types of items, if they didn’t take up bank space.

I think there should only be one item. And it should cost the same as the hair kit.
Derpula Stevens, you completely missed the point. We were discussing the sexism regarding the portrayal of female characters in games. And not the way gamers of different genders treat each other online. You really need to follow the discussion first before you can just blindly chime in with your own opinion.
I know everyone is eager to jump on the lets-gang-up-on-Malafide bandwagon for defending women. But if you can’t be bothered to read the arguments or follow the discussion, you’re just going to come off as uninformed.
Noone is talking about sexism in games but you. This post is about a little more revealing armor for both men and women. But keep in mind what people like on women is not the same as what they like on men.
If you want to complain about it, there are other games forums that show far more.

You say you want equality but you really want censorship. Anet is making a nice censored version of the game for china. Maybe you can play that?
I didn’t ask for censorship. What on earth are you on about?
It boggles my mind how people can derive a completely extreme view point from my posts, despite the fact that I’ve been consistently leaning the other way.
How is criticizing sexism in video games equal to wanting censorship?
Most of the replies are yours. Only 2 or 3 people agree with you on this and it’s only because they don’t want the game to have Tera style armor. But I’ve only only bing asking for a Little bit more revealing armor. I’m not asking for thongs.
I’ve read your post and I know you want almost all female skin covered. That view is extremist in most developed countries that are a democracy.

I’m all for that. Bring out the open jackets and exposed male chests, if equality is what we want.
You already said you did want for equality by having male characters exposing their bodies. You claimed it would increase the number of exposed women characters armor.
You say you want equality but you really want censorship. Anet is making a nice censored version of the game for china. Maybe you can play that?
it’s just you. RNG stands for random number generation
I just wanted to say. There is no such thing as a true RNG. If someone plays a slot machine in Vegas. It is required by law to pay out a certain percentage over a 24hr period. It all a computer algorithm.
I bet if someone does the BLC close to the end of the servers daily reset. The odds may be higher based on if few skins have dropped earlier.
You can’t compare a video game to Vegas man. There is no law that requires in game RNG to pay you anything ever. It’s a digital dice roll.
How does Arenanet control the different drop rates of different items in BLC? If it really was a roll of the dice. Tonics would drop at the same rate as the skins.

I highly doubt the slot machines would run checks against whether or not they’ve paid enough on that day, since that would imply something illegal is going on. Besides, that would mean that the first run on every slot machine after 00:00 would be a winning one.
However, say the slot machine throws a random number between 1 and 1000, you just need to make sure that the appropriate percentage of the numbers are winning numbers. The odds should take care of the rest.
Random number generation relies partly on the user, since a computer does not have anything random built in. To achieve random, the time in milliseconds is taken for a seed number to run through the algorithm. So yeah, it is not all a computer algorithm.
And I highly doubt that GW2 would take the success of others into account while generating random numbers.
A true number generator is a impossibility. Nothing is ever random.
Even the real world is based fractals.
I’m all for more options. But I think men and women both have a responsibility to point out blatant sexism in videogames. This female stereotype hurts the image of the videogame medium. How can videogames ever be taken serious as an art form, when we present female characters so immaturely?
You haven’t seen much vintage artwork?
Mad Queen Malafide why are you fighting something that will never change. Women will always be looked at as the more attractive of the two sexes because of their curves. While what make men attractive to women is different. This is a fact of life that will not change.
I posted this suggestion in the SAB forum and people liked it. So I’m posting it here since it’s a suggestion.
Some of the holiday SPvP game like Reaper’s Rumble was really good. So why not make a SPvP game for the SAB.
*It would have unique controls and a interface.
*Dark scary looking maps in 16 bit style.
*Maybe make it a shooter like Doom, King’s Field, Castlevania Style
*Dark fantasy theme
The so called double standard is in your mind. Revealing armor on male character just does not make much money for MMO developers. So most of the male armor in games is focused big bulky armor.
But revealing armor does make money on women characters, because males and many women players want it.
It’s not sexisum, it just business!
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
^ Actually, from a real life protection standpoint, that armor would be laughably ineffective. It exposes a large portion of the upper torso and the upper thighs, both of which are areas where a deep enough wound could prove fatal.
But I agree that this is a game, and if players want heavy armor that still shows skin and curves while providing the same protection as a full suit of plate mail, so be it. I just want both the chainmail bikini AND the full plate mail suit in there, and let players decide which they want to wear.
Honestly, I think that GW2 has done quite a good job of providing a wide range of armor appearances that cater to both sides. There are some VERY revealing outfits, it’s true, but there are also options that look realistic from an armor standpoint. If need be, mix and match your armor pieces to get the exact look you want. That’s what Transmutation stones are for.
Few people in ancient times were a full set of armor.
The goal of partial armor is not to protect vital points. It for blocking/deflecting attacks. No one armored or not just lets themselves get hit.
This is a good example of revealing heavy armor made for speed.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Just let people copy armor skins between armor weights. As in, transfer a medium armor skin onto heavy armor. Put a heavy armor skin on light armor. etc. It seems so simple.
- There is no further financial investment in art resources
- The people who want skimpy stuff get three times more variety from existing skimpy stuff
- The people who don’t want more skimpy stuff don’t have to worry about anet dedicating resources to creating new skimpy stuff
- anet gets to sell conversion stones in the store
- We can kick the can down the road a few months
That is a poorly thought out band-aid solution if I’ve ever seen one.
- If I’m wearing Heavy armor and I wanted to have a more revealing armor option I don’t want to look at Light or Medium armor for an answer. I want a more revealing HEAVY ARMOR. Same goes if I’m in Medium or Light, I don’t want an armor from outside my armor type as a “solution”.
- This would be abused excessively in PvP, Currently you can look at a player and get an idea of what class they are by their armor type, and adjust your strategy accordingly. With this, Heavy armor classes would transmute Light armor to trick people into believing that a light armored class was headed their way, and as such blind side them with Warrior or Guardian abilities.
- This does NOT add options. We are asking for more options, not the same options we already have.
Some examples of how heavy armor can be revealing. But still be protective.
Heavy armor does not need to be full coverage. The goal shouldn’t be to withstand hit. It’s to block incoming attacks. So we need heavy armor with less coverage designed for increased speed.
Whenever I see a female toon wearing next to nothing, I just assume a teenage boy is behind the controls. The real women I know who play like the tough looking armor.
Adult men do it too. And women would play males in revealing outfits too. If the males in this game looked like Dante from Devil May Cry.
Men have pecs (although I’m sure some players might enjoy making less muscled/husky males). As for being sexist and a double standard, it is to you because you’re not seeing the other side of the coin.
Women like options. Currently, they have options. They can wear ‘dresses’, they can wear very revealing things, and they can wear full coverage.
Can my male wear a suit?
Can my male wear a loincloth?
You’re the blind one because you think options are degrading to women but reverse the double standard that in the process of giving female avatars more options, males are stifled for options.
You do realize that that is what double standard means, right? Men can’t wear a loincloth, women get to run around in armor showing their underwear. That is exactly the double standard I was talking about. A double standard applies to both genders across the board. Its just more bothersome from the female side, due the inherit sexualization of the outfits.
You ask for a loincloth! Nothing is stopping you!
man….ytf do people who play video games have to be so kittenn weird and ask for stuff like this?
like seriously….it’s a video game stop being a weird pervert.
Nothing weird of perverted in wanting my avatar to look good. It’s quite normal.
yea look good as in “woah cool armor!” is normal.
look good as in “look at my sexy computer game character” is weird and perverted and generally makes gamers look like losers.
I posted examples. Or are you too lazy to read all the posts?
American has the more racial diversity than any other country.
When you really think about it, this statement is probably wrong. Its a big country for sure. But more racial diversity than ANY other country? I doubt it.
You must hate America. But you don’t realize America or Obama does not call the shots. Central banking and Bilderberg already control everything.
Don’t you think you’re straying just a little bit off topic now?
you know who used to do balanced design really well? FFXI. frilly and brilliantly ridiculous on either gender.
I don’t think any RPG should be taking lessons from the Final Fantasy series, to be honest. Regardless of how successful it has been as a franchise.
This post is being trolled by people with Very extremist points of view. I suspect some of them are from countries where their governments suppress their individual rights.
When ever people find themselves lacking in good counter arguments, they’ll instead fall back on bashing on the supposed intentions of the posters, which is a form of discussion that is all over this thread. I have yet to see anyone in this topic, including the OP, admit that he was wrong about some of his statements. That seems to be a very hard thing for people to do: To concede that someone else is right about something. Instead we fall back into this behavior of saying the other side is feminist, or extremist.
This failure to address the valid arguments of the anti-skimpy crowd is blatantly obvious to most of the people reading this topic, I suspect.
Your arguments for overly conservative clothing in this game has no place it todays modern world. Because those views are how you think people should be in the RL. Limiting self expression of others is limiting your personal liberties.
America is the most racial diversity society in the world. People from EVERY county in the world have moved to America for a chance at a better life. America isn’t perfect but at least everyone has a chance of success in America. While in many countries success is based on what family a person is from.
How about town clothing swimsuits with built-in diving animations.
If the armor gets any more skimpy they will be naked… The title of this thread just makes it sound straight sexist and teen-boy ish…
Why not just start a “serious” thread about how we would like new armor styles on characters outside of gem shop. Then an actual discussion could have been had.
PS to the person who keeps posting the Aion pics.. I’m just gonna give people the actual link, cause basically thats what your asking for is armor from Aion.
Only light armor shows any skin. But still covers the back with a coat.
Anet, there are many people with extremist points of view on how much skin should be visible in game. Some claim it undermines women to show more skin ingame. But few people have said they want the armor to look like Tera. These extremists forget that many women in the 60s and 70s fought hard to express themselves in the sexual revolution.
Instead of armor like Tera. How about armor that’s a little more skimpy but stylish.
Like these examples.
*first image: shows the type of form fitting armor this game is missing
*2nd image: Is skimpy without being like Tera
*3rd image: Or right, need more mini dresses/shirtsWhy do people keep posting armor from Aion……..
Examples have to come from somewhere.
For example:

Boob-armor!
I love how you managed to pick an an armor that shows no skin, unless of course the armor changes the color of your skin. Perhaps it’s like one of those tattooed sleeves or whatever I’ve heard about.
Let’s say that hypothetically people are offended by people showing some semblance of skin in a video game due to whatever reasons. Can’t I just say that I’m offended that someone covers up their character so much that it makes it seem like they’re trying to protect the world from the greatest evil mankind has ever seen?
I’ve hardly ever seen the pro-skimpy crowd go for the removal of all garments that cover any skin whereas the other side seems to want the game to feature mummified corpses with atleast 4 layers of bandages underneath everything.
One side tries to add variety for all, the other wants to belittle and insult anyone even remotely interested in something other than 150% coverage.
Has it not occured to people that the reason why “LA” looks like a stripjoint is because there is a serious lack of variety in armors. If there were more DIFFERENT looking armors of both kinds maybe(but I doubt it since some people want to be offended) LA wouldn’t be the stripjoint people are referring to.
let’s be honest i’m belittling the reasons less than 150% coverage is wanted, not the desire of less than 150% coverage. honestly i’d be alright with less coverage if everything that entailed wasn’t hypersexualized or impractical (or more often than not, both).
also not intending to speak for Malafide here but they’ve continuously been arguing points about armour practicality, not only criticizing the armour-to-skin ratio, so your point there is moot.

http://madartlab.com/2011/12/14/fantasy-armor-and-lady-bits/both relatively on topic and informative links about breastplates and women-in-armour in general, not sure if this was linked previously, but hey, relevant.
This post is being trolled by people with Very extremist points of view. I suspect some of them are from countries where their governments suppress their individual rights.
what is wrong with you do not even attempt to undermine the arguments going on here by implying non-white non-american voices don’t carry the same weight seriously go kitten yourself and don’t let the door hit you on the way out
Who the kitten said anything about non-white? American has the more racial diversity than any other country.
You must hate America. But you don’t realize America or Obama does not call the shots. Central banking and Bilderberg already control everything.
This post is being trolled by people with Very extremist points of view. I suspect some of them are from countries where their governments suppress their individual rights.
Why do people keep saying this isn’t based on real life? Everything you see in game is based on usual images you see in media and all over the place so it’s a bit weird to say that just cuz it ain’t real, we can do whatever we want in our game and nobody should find it offensive because of that. It’s the feeling I get whenever I see a post like that
It’s fantasy and not based in this world. We are trying to create a world that’s different with our suggestions.
it’s just you. RNG stands for random number generation

Taking into account real world? Girls, especially in the summer, show a lot more skin than most characters in this game. I show a lot of skin on my character, and it is definitely similar to what I see girls wearing during the summer months. They wear that by choice. No one forced them to wear it. I would even bet that their fathers are against them wearing it, but the girls want to wear it anyway.
Do any girls in the real world dress this skimpy?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Masquerade_Armor_Female_Human_Coloring_Front.jpg
Or walk around in something like this?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Winged_Armor_Female_Human.png
Sexism is not a matter of being forced to wear something. Its the persistent idea that women are sexy barbie dolls, and men are not. Its the different treatment of both genders that makes it sexism. And its hard to deny that there is a double standard.
In almost every MMO, when ever a male character wears armor, he wears something practical. Something that could function as armor.
But whenever a female character wears armor, it is usually something centered around showing their cleavage or underwear. How is that not sexist?
For example:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Arah_armor_light_human_female_front.jpg
Boob-armor!
No said men can’t be sexy barbie dolls.
Also this isn’t real life.
I disagree… IHMO,to be fair, in order to even purchase an item you have to not only click on it, but you have to also click the “buy” button. any purchase made is a keyboard to user issue… I have made this mistake several times, but i dont think a resell button is necessary…
I just make it a point to know exactly what i am buying before i click the “buy” button…
No that’s not true. If you don’t click the and click the “X” instead. The order still goes through. I don’t know if it’s a bug or is meant to work that way.
Your 2nd point: That’s easy to say if you don’t play the market.
man….ytf do people who play video games have to be so kittenn weird and ask for stuff like this?

Make All purchased items in the trading post resellable. Only if the player has not pickup the item from the trading post.
This is so we can sell items accidently bought in the trading post.
It comes down to 1 fundamental fact – if you have a single armor set, where both sets, male and female, are designed to be practical then it’s fair. If the same armor set is skimpy and revealing for both genders, then it’s fair. If within the same set only the male one is practical and closed, and female revealing, that’s sexist, I’m sorry.
I think this is the best point made in the thread so far. It’s fine if there is more of one kind of armor or another as long as it looks similar on both genders. I can’t count the amount of times that I’ve had potential transmog sets for my female characters ruined by a difference between male and female skin coverage.
Anyways, this would be nothing for me (or anyone that shares my opinion) to be upset about if certain sets and pieces didn’t look objectively better on another gender.
The “looks similar on both genders” people are just making a excuse. Tera male armor does look skimpy too. They just want players to look ultra conservative.
Vote Yes on Open world Duels
*No dueling areas where players working in cities are at.
*Dueling should be on/off, Off by default
*Prevent players from using chat to ask for duels from players who have it turned off
*option to display the on/off button for dueling in the UI
*DE’s cancel duels
*duels can only start if few non-dueling players are in the area.
For those who thinks duels break immersion. It’s not true. Duels are good for training. And some RH and SP require dueling with NPC’s. I think Dueling fits the theme of the game.

I suggest something like this before as part of a “visual only inspect feature”. I idea was like yours but it was also lets players view a players armor without stats in a window. My idea also had a short interdiction text, guild introductions.
Why does the dungeon need to be temporary?
Why are the Fused Weapons only from the BLC?Why can’t they make this (and add to it) a permanent dungeon with tokens much like the others and add the fused weapons as dungeon rewards to spend tokens on…?
Would it be so bad to allow more players to see these weapon skins rather than wasting 100s of dollars or more on keys and never seeing one? The dungeon on its own was awesome. Imagine it being its own explorable.. New content is what’s going to keep this game going, not temporary content and then the same old stuff afterwards.
What are your thoughts on this?
I like the whole living world Flame and Frost story. But something permitting should remain like a dungeon or meta event. Or have some areas of the content “like the dungeon” open up now and then with a short story explaining why.
Couldn’t post more then two examples. Here’s 2 more
Revealing armor like this.
Here are some more examples of revealing armor.
@ Onshidesigns
The middle one (in white dress) looks juuuust in place!
Though we have quite a few similar ones compared to the other two.
Even though I dislike very skimpy armor…I do not mind elegance and style with taste without revealing too much.
Here’s an example of a few beautiful armor sets from GW1…I think they reveal enough and I don’t want this game to turn into anime.
The one on the right. Thats revealing, elegant and in good tastes.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
*Backside on most armor is covered by a big coat.
*Little tight form fitting armor to choose from
*No short skirts for medium and heavy armor
You have extremist point of view on what nudity is. I only view private areas as nudity.
I guess it differs from person to person, but we are not talking about nudity here…
I was talking about provocative types of armor, not nudity.
Guess you want everyone to wear burqas.
Whether you are a female gamer or a male gamer, some of these armors are just downright offensive. It has nothing to do with being a prude. It has everything to do with not wanting to run around like you’re some kind of sex object.
I’m sick and tired of people being offending for crap they have nothing to do with. If I want my characters to wear a certain kind of clothes, that’s my choice. If you don’t like Feathered or Masquerade armor, wear the 17 (seventeen…I counted) other non-revealing armor options.
Yet, you show up in our screens in offensively skimpy armor. That is not okey.
You insist that we wish to affect your “free will”?
Well, that is only because you wish to force your “free will” on us.Consider this: If how you clothed yourself had zero effect on others, devs would be able to sell 13+ and 18+ versions of the game, where 13+ version wouldn’t have the option to run practically naked yourself, while still seeing the bondage / kitten armor that 18+ players wear.
So, I take it you understand now that “it’s only an option” is not really a valid argument.Frankly, I find it offensive that my free will must be influenced by your opinionated viewpoints. It’s annoying.
Frankly, I find it offensive that my gaming experience must be influenced by your tactless demands. It’s annoying.
Who offended by revealing armor but people like you. Who thinks normal beachwear
is offensive.
Are you trying to pose your extremist religious values on everyone. If so God does Not approve of you calling his creation offensive.
MMo have to have less graphics capability than single player game. Developers of MMO’s need to cut corners to make the game run smoothly on their servers.
It would require a game new engine and faster computers to make a MMO look like crysis 3.
Going by just a Win/Loss ratio only helps players who play with their guild most of the time.
Some people who like skimpy armor are not only looking at just the skin. The skin is part of the overall look of the armor. It’s about the overall style of the character in the armor.
