I reitterate how rediculous it is to attempt to add realism to a game with dragons undead and other creatures and the ability to throw fire balls
… who says erryone wasn’t born with magical sight… but yes realism ina magical world lol

There is no magic is the game with that ability. Magical worlds still need to abide by simple rules to make sense. Realism within the realm of fantasy.

This confuses the kitten outa me fantasy doesn’t need to follow any rules whatso ever its fantasy its imaginary realism dictates I can’t hurl fireballs from my hands or shout at people to make them stop bleeding… its fantasy not reality f-a-n-t-a-s-y

No fantasy is just changing the rules. The player stats are fantasy rules. It’s a different world with rules. Ask yourself what realism is to your character.

On the issue Realism. What is that here? Realism is a illusion in this world. Everything is a wave but we perceive it as particles.

Someone had one too many… and your point is fairly null and nonsensical.. realistic rules like vision impairments in a world of magic makes no sense

I never once said “realistic rules”. It’s fantasy rules written out in a way that would seem realistic to the character on the screen.

On the part where I talk about actual realism in this world, Is true. Look up the two slit experiment if you don’t believe it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW6Mq352f0E

Basically, with your first suggestion, you want a return to culling. But with the added bonus of making it hard to see even those enemies whose models have rendered (at different distances, of course, based on each individual’s graphics options). We can call it ‘Culling+’.

Somehow I have difficulty seeing this getting a lot of support from the wider community.

Turn your settings down or buy a better computer.

Why should you be able to tell who is even in the distance? This idea is about realism.

Realism ina world where you can hurl fireballs good idea all of you should go back to your cod ….. because we all know how realistic……

I don’t Ever play COD. It’s too easy with a GUI that assists players. JUST LIKE GW2 WvW TAGS.

When I say Realistic. I mean the “Fog of War”. The fog of war is the uncertainty in situational awareness experienced by participants in military operations.1 The term seeks to capture the uncertainty regarding one’s own capability, adversary capability, and adversary intent during an engagement, operation, or campaign.

You may be talking about realism, but, as I said, I think you’ll find more players are interested in playability, and not being disadvantaged because they have an inferior system to someone else. There were months of complaint and effort before culling was removed, it seems unlikely they’d bring it back, but worse.

I’m not saying it’s not a nice thought for an ideal world, it’s just utterly impractical.

You should not even be able to tell who the enemy is at long distances. WvW now is to easy for large groups and impossible for small groups.

Add Reconnaissance to WvW
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Add-Reconnaissance-to-WvW/first#post2164551

First idea can only be done with the elimination of being able to see enemy tags. Unless the player mouses over any enemy. Then the enemies tag is visible.
Suggestion
*Add reconnaissance to WvW
*players can choose play a reconnaissance role. Buy using unique equipment and skills.
*Reconnaissance players can call out enemy positions.
*Reconnaissance players can use drones
Think of this idea as GW meats Navy Seals. But with weapons and equipment that fit the GW2 theme.

I will not play WvW until these things are implemented.

*EVERY player should not see enemy name tags unless mouseover.
*No enemy commander icons on screen unless moused over.
*option to show allies name tags as just a dot.

Turning tags off in options is NOT a option. It would put some players at a disadvantage.

While I like this idea in theory, Asura would be at an advantage for hiding on castle walls or behind bushes, while Norns would be impossible to hide all but the largest of objects.

Realistic, but without any commensurate tradeoffs. It’s not like Norns can sacrifice secrecy for strength.

So Asura should be able to. With my idea Anet could also add a cover/crouch system.

Crouch/cover would be sweet.

Anet should know Elder Scrolls Online will have this.

Turning tags off in options is NOT a option. It would put some players at a disadvantage.

1) If, like me, you have to play on low settings to take it easy on the hamster, often name tags are the only thing you’ll see at the distance where a $1000 machine from this year would render all the player models. Sounds like this would create an unbalanced advantage for players with top end machines.

2) You can’t see enemy commander icons unless you target the player, and then you can only see it in the “buffs” bar, not above their head as allies do. Not sure what you’re on about here. The NPC “Commander Siegerazer” shows up, maybe that’s what you mean?

3) That would be a nice quality of life setting, but listing it as a deal-breaker to ever play a game, dang homey, that’s one closed mind and boring life, sounds like….. If you just want to reduce screen clutter, turn off the “show all player names” option, but if you think name tags are causing lag or obscuring the screen, I’d like to show you the wall of particle effects that name tags can’t even be seen through anyway, it’s called a zerg, maybe you’ve seen one by a dragon before.

I always get a kick out of random internet people being all “I refuse to do X until the world conforms to my standards exactly!” Honestly, who cares if one random dude doesn’t play a game because he doesn’t like the UI. Apparently they feel the need to tell us. If I went to the forums of every game I don’t play, I’d be a busy man……

On 1, I don’t think you should even be able to tell who the enemy even is at a distance. Where is the “fog of war” at?

But that’s why balling up is good, it’s difficult to tell if there are more than 20 in a group with the huge red cluster of text.

*Supply Crate
Open 10 Supply Crate to get 1 weapon ticket in the mail.
Players earn 1 ticket for every 10 Supply Crates opened.

*Black Lion Chests
Open 10 Black Lion Chests to get 1 rare item/skin in the mail.
Players earn 1 rare item/skin for every 10 Black Lion Chests opened.

Why not just cut out the middle man and sell the skin on the TP?

Anet is determined to destroy their company with these RNG chests. This idea allows Anet to make their extra money. And still guarantee players a reward.

Players who only want one ticket it comes out cheaper for them. Buy farming gold for the first 5 chests. Then if they don’t have the gold to buy gems for the 2nd 5 chests. They will then spend 10 dollars on gems. That leaves 650 extra gems.

Where Anet makes more money is from players who want more than one weapon ticket.

If RNG is here to stay. Anet should guarantee one weapon ticket/rare of better item in BLC. For every 10th chest opened. That way it will cost at most 20 dollars for a guaranteed weapon ticket.

Some have said to this idea, don’t buy RNG chests. But Anet is determined to destroy their company with these chests. So let make it less of a rip off by guaranteeing a weapon ticket on every 10th chest opened. This can’t be too hard for them to do. It’s also shows that Anet cares about their customers.

Dragon Bash on June 11th Update!

Moa horse race lol. Do I get to be one?

Anyway… mini dragon pet?

The Moa race is a betting game taking inspiration from the 9-rings style betting mini-games from the original festivals in Gw1, but with a little more action involved for each round of bets. The bonus: this activity will remain in the game permanently in Lion’s Arch after the Dragon Bash festival ends.

You don’t get to be a Moa for this specific activity, though you never know what might pop up in future festivals! As one of the people who built roller beetle racing I’d love to see its spiritual successor in Gw2 someday, we might need to wait for beetles to pop up in game though

Did you test out this mini in Queensdale? I’ve seen at least 3 times a dialog box pop up asking for me to beat on a moa to win a race I can not find.

The only issue with the dialog box is that it pops up and blocks the screen. When I’m doing something.

Also Dragon Ball, which sounds (more or less) like another variant on Crab Toss / Keg Brawl. We’ll see

Moa Racing should be a permanent mini game. Anet did promise a moa racing game for launch but failed to deliver. Also new a the new “Helmed Moa Racer Mini” kind of hints the the game will be permanent.

Dragon Ball will be temporary. Notes don’t don’t really give any ideas on how it’s played. But all the other festival game were unique and fun.

*Dragon Bash festival in Lion’s Arch

To me, Anet’s refusal to make them is as stupid as their attempts at balancing. People keep suggesting it because they want it. The threads will keep coming until we get what we want. It’s easy money too. Hell, if they gave the 2 that are in the game a 33% speed boosts, I would have bought one and then I would buy another as soon as I saw something I liked more. And I would keep doing that.

It’s also mind-boggling to see all the vehicles in a game with vast stretches of land just sitting idle and collecting dust. The art assets are already there! Why not use them to gain more profit? What’s even dumber than that is the fact that there are riding clothes and aviator glasses! That’s like making car seats but not cars!

You’re not getting any cars outside maybe a mini game. They will most likely only be for military npc’s.

You will see more small cosmetic mounts, like ridable golems. But Anet does NOT want players riding through groups of enemies like they are not a obstacle.

I would like to see the posts from the GW2 website fed into the “My Story” tab. It can show a red " ! " when there is a new story entry like when you level and have a new trait point to use.

Each update that has story posts can have the content thrown into the “My Story” tab. We click on each event as a form of a drop down. I guess it works a lot like the wiki, but this is just another alternative of displaying information.

Attached an example I created real quick in Photoshop.

You can probably add those images as event tabs in achievements too to create some visuals.

That exactly what I was thinking on a earlier post. I would also like to see a collection of notes found for each stage of the event. Things like npc conversations notes, book pages read.

Ideally, the in-game story should tell you everything you need to know about the current Living World plot, context, and character motivation through a combination of scenes, clues, and gameplay. Blog posts, interviews, novels, etc. are supplementary.

One of the challenges of weaving a story into open world content is ensuring that players see the right details in the proper order. By nature, dynamic events are designed to be played as you encounter them, which makes story delivery especially challenging in that content type due to its non-linear placement. We’ve been experimenting on different ways to weave the story into the action with each Living World release, sometimes with mixed results.

We used a combination of letters, instanced cinematics, and achievements to tell the Flame & Frost story. While spreading details out among all those different UI elements was not ideal, it was the most effective means of directing people through content with our current tech. We are exploring some options that would streamline this experience, but we’re not ready to discuss the details right now.

There are various bits of story spread throughout the Southsun Cove content. Some are in idle scenes, whereas others are nestled in journals, conversations, or achievement lists (which, due to a bug, did not obscure later events and revealed some spoilers ahead of time). Having a few story cinematics at key moments would have certainly helped players piece together the plot, so in the future we will likely use them in ways similar to the F&F releases.

As always, thanks for the honest feedback. The Living World of GW2 is a new thing for us, so we appreciate your patience, understanding, and suggestions.

I think that your main problem is that you refuse to implement quest in a bit more standard way. Some form of quests would resolve all your problems with story telling. And what is so wrong with that approach?

And if anyone has not yet realized we already have quests in the game. They are called achievements. The only difference is that quests have some story description – this is the thing that the current achievement system is lacking.

This could be done by adding personal story type quests to the living story. They can’t be to hard to do solo, as they would be more for story telling purposes.

The Mini Reef Rider just looks cool. For that reason I think anyone who likes to collect minis will want one. Unlike the toy sword skin that most people don’t like the look of. The Mini Reef Rider is sure to sell fast and the price will go up. Even with the high drop rate.

The SAB greatsword was common but the tradeable version still reached 50g in the TP. Because players liked the look of the SAB greatsword.

I think the Mini Kasmeer Mini will go up in price too. For the same reason.

Some of you are asking for official RP servers. I don’t want that to happen! Good servers should have a mix between players and role players.

Servers with no role players have boring dead cities. And servers that would be only be for role players, would have low populated zones.

Players and role players need to lean to play together!
