For anyone worried about the gem cost of transferring, I heard about this place in pve-land. It’s called Silverworld or something like that. Apparently, when you kill a champ mob, instead of blood, a fountain of T6 mats spurts in all directions. Farm there until you make enough gold to buy the gems. I doubt it will take more than a couple hours. I went there to check it out once because there was some rumor of a “chest train.” Well, I was expecting a konga line of topless ladies, but its really just a mind-numbingly boring game of follow the leader.
This looks like a complete list to me. Since forum posts are so much noise to anet, have you considered creating a survey like with survey monkey to allow players to rank their priorities. Rule #1 of collecting customer feedback is that only the most happy or angry customers actually take the time to voice their concerns. I’m really curious what the silent 95% think.
Ideal would be 8PM EST Friday, but anytime on Friday would be an improvement.
Go play skyrim, pervert. lol
Anet, can we get the dungeon armor and weapons merchant to also let us convert our unwanted dungeon tokens into something useful? I have a small number of tokens from each of the dungeons and would love to be able to swap them all so i have enough of just one kind to actually buy a skin or something.
Isn’t this the business model of a f2p game? They spend the big bucks on development to make a dynamite game. In the next year or 3, they roll out regular new content in prepare for an expansion pack. After expac sales drop off, they fire everyone to minimize expenses and keep pushing shiny gem store items to maximize cash flow. I mean, how long can you rationally expect an mmo not named WoW to survive?
Thanks for posting yet another thread that will support anet’s inevitable decision to go megaserver with wvw.
I’m not sure I am comfortable with the negative consequences of making wvw more profitable, but I would like to see a new npc at the BL spawn points that gives free servings of level 80 food, sharpening stones, tuning crystals, etc. It’s one thing to make wvw unprofitable. It’s another when wvw actually COSTS gold to play.
I don’t typically spawn camp, but when I see it happening, it is because the campers are bored and looking for fights. Never heard anyone say, “let’s spawn camp and get an extra couple points per minute.”
People still complaining about this? I see so few revs in wvw these days. CoR got such a nerf that running full zerk yields a 12K CoR every 4 seconds rather than 20K every 2. It was fun while it lasted, but I find glass rev in wvw is way too risky.
Anet seems to believe that pve’ers play for shinies, pvp’ers play for ego, and wvw’ers play for enjoyment, and rewards players accordingly. Why reward someone when the gamemode is the reward?
That being said, they could at least pretend to reward us once in a while. I’ve heard lots of suggestions, like creating spvp-like reward tracks or skins that can only be earned with wvw badges, but so far, nothing. It never get mentioned anymore, but I’m mostly annoyed that anet reduced the ranks necessary for full wvw mastery from 1400 to 950, but gives pathetic rewards for every new rank attained. Past 950, wvw ranks just stack up and can’t be used for anything. Every 10% of the reward track in spvp, which can easily be achieved with 1-2 matches, gives champ chests and decent mats, but an entire wvw ranks gives 2 greens and some ascended mats that are promptly destroyed.
I love PPK. I wish it was 2 or 3 points instead of just 1. I wouldn’t go much higher than that as it would really reward blobbing too much.
I hope anet realizes that large-scale battles are what makes wvw fun and different than anything else out there. IMO, they should be doing a lot more to discourage players using siege against other players and make siege only damage doors, walls, and enemy siege. I would definitely like to see AC and ballista humpers get a “Persian Coward” (quote from the movie 300, not meant to be a racial slur against ethnic Persians) debuff for manning siege that prevents them from getting bags.
I like fractal difficulty now. It is really a case of choosing your own challenge. If you want to just get your vet chest and other dailies done, no problem. If you want a tougher fight, keep going up until you find the frac level that is right for you.
I would love a way to convert my fat stacks of memories of battle and shards of glory into mystic coins.
Anet,
If you want some quick cash, you don’t need to make an expansion or design some sparkly outfit of glider skin, just give me a way to put my inventory on autopilot. I am the kind of player who doesn’t care enough about skins or shinies to ever buy gems to make gem store purchases, but I do regularly spend gems on quality of life items. An inventory manager would be a huge improvement in that regard, and I would be willing to pay quite a bit for it.
I love gw2 and have been playing it pretty much exclusively since launch, but the one thing I think would really improve my experience is a way to manage my inventory with minimal attention. Let’s face it, 99% of the loot I pick up in wvw or pve or whatever is not worth a second glance. It’s either a crafting mat which goes straight to my collections, or a piece of junk white, blue or green gear which gets salvaged without a second thought. Once salvaged, all the mats get whisked away to my collections too. For 5 minutes every hour in wvw or at the completion of a HoT zone meta event, I open my bags and mindlessly salvage and sell, open loot bags, etc. It’s boring and annoying at the best of times. At the worst of times, like when that “unable to pick up X” message pops up in the middle of a fight, it is downright frustrating.
Here’s my suggestion. Sell us a little golem dude who sits in our bags and performs any and all inventory management functions we decide to give him. I would want him to AT LEAST perform the following things:
1) Automatically send any looted mats to collections.
2) Automatically salvage looted gear with my choice of salvage kit. I would want him to be customizable in that I could adjust settings to salvage white gear with X salvage kits, blues with Y kits, or just salvage everything with a salvage-o-matic if I prefer.
3) Automatically sell junk as soon as I interact with a merchant (has anyone EVER not sold junk immediately?)
4) Automatically sell green runes and sigils left over from all that auto-salvaging. This would have to be a toggle as I’m sure lots of people love to gamble them away in the MF.
5) Automatically buy harvesting tools (picks and axes) from merchants if my inventory of said tools falls below a specific number of stacks AND equip those tools when I run out.
6) Automatically use luck
I’m sure others can think of other features they would love to see in an inventory manager, but these are main things on my wish list. I have asked members of my guild about their thoughts on this and most were quite enthusiastic. I am sure it would be a big hit in the gem store.
Sincerely,
Osu
P.S. I have never played that clicking game that shares my name, so STOP bringing it up.
I go into WvW about every day. I see lots of people playing on all sides. Not sure why people keep saying the it’s dead. If it was dead then no one would be in there playing and that is just not the case, there are lots playing. Maybe YOU don’t play it anymore but others still do.
It really depends on tier and time of day. If you are on T1 or T2 and only play during NA prime, you are probably happy your queue is shorter. T4 and up still has enough active players to at least keep EBG populated during peak hours. If you are in T5 or lower, the population decline is much more dramatic. These are servers that never had a huge wvw population to begin with so even a small population reduction has a dramatic impact. Furthermore, the more populations decline, the more coverage imbalances become an issue. Even if you love wvw, you will either give up or transfer if you know that all your gains will be taken back by Oceanic players once you log off, and you’ll be looking at double-digit tick when you log back in.
Sad. Now dungeons are only done by players leveling up a toon or saving up dungeon tokens for a legendary.
How hard would it be to introduce a hard mode or higher levels of difficulty for dungeons. If anet thought they were too easy, they could just introduce a scale like in fractals so groups could choose their desired level of difficulty/reward.
Anet’s official response: Do something yourself. If you can’t improve your own server, transfer. The truth sucks, I know. Glicko is harsh. RNG is a kitten. Deal with it or try some spvp.
BTW, I watched my server drop from kitten T8, so sorry if I’m not going to offer you a shoulder to cry on.
All we all know is that Anet’s fix will be (if the past is any indication) late, lame, and address NONE of the issues raised by the loyal wvw player base over the past several years.
My vote would be for a hot pink or neon yellow target on the enemy target. The dark red is much harder to see.
What’s really amazing is the fact that anet actually gave ranger a useful skill AND did not nerf it into oblivion an hour after people started complaining about it.
PVE players who want gold in wvw already have a reliable source. It is called EotM.
Besides, PVE players are never going to have a good time in wvw. Season 1 proved that bringing PVE players into wvw is a lose-lose proposition. The PVE players complain because they get targeted and blown up in seconds (but can you blame us for killing the full zerkers first), and the wvw vets complain because the queues are ridiculous. As much as I would like better loot from wvw, I don’t want so much loot that I get locked in queue.
1) Flatten Desert BL and remove all the chokepoints. Make the keeps and towers smaller. I want a Desert BL, not a Canyon BL.
2) Rotate Desert and Alpine BL’s weekly.
3) Get rid of the server system and implement an alliance system.
A) Create 3-4 Alliances that each have different point systems that reward PPT or fights or pve or whatever.
4) Buff stability enough to make melee viable
5) Nerf banners
I still see people doing HP trains in TD, so check the lfg every so often and eventually you’ll find a big group to help you blast through.
It’s not so much the layout that is irritating. For me, it was spending an hour running and backtracking through tunnels only to come across an area that was impassable due to poison gas or an unsoloable champ. It is fun when its challenging. It stops being fun when you reach a point where you have to either come back after you gain some masteries or put together a group.
Yes, during NA prime and on weekends.
Keep in mind that at MOST, 1/3 of pvp players will be happy about a patch. Those players who main a prof that got significant improvements will be happy. Those who main a significantly weakened prof will be kittened off. Those who main a prof that is somewhere in the middle will be kittened off because they are not in the top third.
So depressing when people come to the forums to complain that the old stab was too powerful because a small group could take down a large group. You whiners are responsible for removing the incentive for coordinated, skilled gameplay from wvw and replacing it with this mindless pirate ship meta. Happy now? If a 5-man group killed your whole zerg, it is because they were better than you. Last time I checked, we all have equal access to builds.
I miss my warr so much. Haven’t played him since the stab change.
Warriors never had perma stab. They had enough to push into melee range, fight effectively, and move out. Now, melee only has enough stab for the initial push but then loses it all so they don’t really stand a chance unless their zerg is large enough to reinforce the melee push.
Diminishing returns has been suggested before and seems like the best solution to the stability problem. It would also be a good idea for other CC like immob, which gets abused. Considering anet changed it so that you can only get hit with a CoR every .5 seconds, seems logical to conclude that they could change it so you can only lose a stab stack every .5 seconds too.

Stab seems fine in spvp, but the old system worked much better in wvw. As long as anet is too lazy to have separate rules for each gamemode, we’ll always have to deal with what works best for spvp.
I’m all in favor of just getting rid of the bronze league and adding it’s player base to silver league servers. I know everyone loves to scream, “but the community….” but it would be quite a simple thing to get rid of bronze league servers yet let the players from those servers stay together. You just combine one bronze league server with a silver league server based on rank, coverage, etc. Something like this:
Eredon Terrace + Dragonbrand = Dragon Terrace
Devona’s Rest + Stormbluff Isle = Devona’s Isle
The name’s are meant to be a joke, but basically the concept is add the highest rank silver server and the lowest rank bronze server together. Then, add the second highest silver to the second lowest bronze, and so on. Biggest challenge I can see is the awkward period when bitter enemies like GoM and SF are thrown together, but I’m sure they’ll work it out. People who play competitive MMOs are usually friendly and well-mannered. Hehe
I’m using this build currently.

I have a similar build in wvw and it works fairly well.
I’d love to see the entire center of the desert BL’s converted into an actual desert with rolling dunes and little else. If anet MUST have some sort of event, make it a randomly spawning legendary mob like the Son of Shatterer who will be the slave of whichever server does the most damage to him, and will help attack an enemy-owned tower or keep.
I’d pay 2000 gems for a 12-slot bag for only siege that is automatically shared by all my toons.
I’d pay even more gems for a little convenience item like Princess who will salvage all my blues, greens, and white junk, consume luck, and put mats in my collection with one click.
Cool skins that cost gems and wvw badges would also be nice.
When’s the last time you were in EotM? It’s full of Platinum Legends that have never fought another player.
I’ve always thought that wvw rewards should be tied to wvw achievements. You get ascended trinkets galore for stupid story quests but all I got for slapping 2,500 yaks was a frickin’ title. I don’t expect anet to start handing out precursors, but the occasional ascended weapon or armor box or maybe wvw-specific skins would be nice. Basically, rewards should be considered too grindy for pve players, but something that us wvwers can look forward to after X 1000 kills or X 100 towers captured.

Be careful what you wish for.
I remember being in T1 at the start of season 1 and the borderlands were absolutely packed for about a week. The queues were ridiculous. I know that sounds like a nice problem to have considering the current state of wvw. Only problem is everyone who just ventured into wvw for the first time to get their achievements or whatever had ABSOLUTELY no idea what they were doing or how to fight. I’ve never killed so many, so easily, since gw2 launched. That gets old, real fast.
More than anything, anet needs to make the HoT map meta events doable with a much smaller group. A full map and a 2 hour commitment is unreasonable now that the HoT content is no longer interesting to many players. I’d like to see something along the lines of TD only having a single path to defend and one gerent to kill. Similarly, DS should be doable with only one group, rather than 3. The more these meta events fail due to insufficient players, the worse it is going to get as more and more players (like me) just get sick of wasting time and give up.
Urgency requires competition or a threat of competition. Until CU and Crowfall start stealing gw2 players, there is absolutely no reason for anet to do anything about wvw.
Melee is a bit like that now since the stability nerf.
I haven’t played my warr in wvw in over a year. They are completely useless now. The stab nerf would have made sense in spvp, but since anet can’t be bothered to separate the two game modes…..
Typical anet. Create a really useful item for sale in the gem store, and then make it so overpriced that no one buys it.
Amen to that. WvW stopped being treated like a legitimate gamemode years ago. The only explanation that makes any sense is every change made since getting rid of the orb was done by someone at anet with a lot of political power and a very fragile ego.
Only topics that get over 3000 replies are read by anet. Didn’t you learn a thing from the hero point change shortly after HoT was released?
So WvW, my favorite part of the game, won’t have an attempted fix until later this year (if that).
With that in mind, are there other games out there that have a good form of WvW? The only one with which I’m somewhat familiar is ESO.
Might want to keep your eye on CU and Crowfall.
Neither have release dates yet. So it is either suffer in wvw or REALLY suffer in ESO.
ESO also has a new year blog post and it’s not much better. They cancelled open world pvp and spellcrafting.
However they are removing veteran ranks to make their RvR more accessible, also “later this year”.
So, it took them 2 years to realize pvp’ers would rather not spend 500 hours leveling vet ranks in pve to get their toons competitive for pvp? Funny. That was the main reason I quit the game after 2 months. For anyone who thinks gw2 is too focused on pve, I dare you to try ESO.
Back on subject, how fricking hard is it to just hit the kitten reset button and roll back wvw to what it was 6 months ago?

gamebreaking bugs out the kitten , like the waypoint not being contested and walls that don’t take damage, etc.
Its crap like this which pretty much proves that wvw gets zero attention from anet. If the invulnerable walls bug popped up in a meta event in the HoT zones or in a story quest, it would have been fixed within 12 hours of it being reported.
My question is, where did all the wvw’ers go? As far as I know, no other game has a decent WvW gamemode. Are they all just playing Civ?
If wvw goes megaserver, I hope they go with a campaign system like ESO. The entire game is mostly a trainwreck, but campaigns were one of the few things in ESO that actually worked. I imagine the entire wvw community would now probably fit in 3 campaigns.
PVE also has 10x (my guess) as many players as wvw. If you can get all those PVE players into wvw and get them to complain to the point where forum rant threads get over 3000 responses, then maybe we’ll see an anet response. Until then, enjoy being the red-haired step child.
