Okay, fine,you’re entirely right. Warriors absolutely need buffs to their condition removal, especially since mesmers have a comparable adept tier trait that needs to be about half as good as the warrior one. And warriors are completely pidgeonholed into defense. I mean seriously, having to spend a whole 20 trait points to have awesome condition removal is way too much, they need to get that for ten points in a offense-oriented tree.

Tbh I’d go further, have each slot on the right have a 50% 100% 150% 200% cooldown (for example), so the order of your utilities is also build defining.

Oh god no imagine the endure pain/berserker stance spam, or even balanced stance for 50% stability uptime.
So many people would slot one of the first two for 5/10 seconds of invul to one type of damage every thirty seconds.

Which doesn’t mean it actually got buffed with the new ferocity change, more so in relation to other heals.

It’s more about the increased unlikelyness of being able to outpace warrior passive regen, because there simply isn’t very much you can do about it.
After the patch, it will be slightly harder for non-zerkers to deal more damage than warriors can passively heal. This isn’t as much of an issue on other classes because there are more ways to prevent heals (interrupts, well-timed poisons instead of having to permapoison).
I don’t really think it’s that much of an issue, because the ferocity change won’t affect PvP and WvWvW balance is nonexistent anyway.

there is a simple way to counter healing sig(any healing for that matter), you just apply poison, making it 33% less effictive, why wont you?
if you dont have a skill that does so (well its your problem) but you can get a sigil that gives it to you.
healing sig with poison is the worst heal in the game, compared to other heals with poison, since some first remove the poison and then heal you.

This has been so overdone.
1) There are multiple professions that are unable to poison (and it’s almost never practical to bring a poison sigil).
2) It is far easier to apply a well-timed poison on someone’s heal (or just when they’re low to prevent a heal) than it is to keep it permanently applied, even before considering cleansing ire and berserker stance (some of the strongest removal in the game, don’t forget).

Also, I didn’t say that there were no ways to prevent healsig. I didn’t even say that the one method that does exist is ineffective, though it is. I said that there are more ways to prevent heals for every other heal in the game, which makes healsig a specific offender in the overall damage nerf.

I do not agree. I think with the new GM traits, plus survivability buffs, we need to see how the meta plays out first.

You mean D/D buffs and GM traits sitting in trees which are terrible for PvP.

But yeah, lets see how the meta plays out with Ele’s…or should I say without. The changes are so misguided and focused on increasing healing when that’s not where the problem lies.

Ele needs some of its cool downs reevaluted before we do something like take a hitpoint dump.

Ele is renowned for having some of the longest cooldowns on abilities in the game for little reward. Or did you mean shortening them?

Actually most of the new GM traits for any profession aren’t that great. I don’t see many being used. The best ones are probably for ele.

I’m gonna do 30/0/30/0/10 s/f conjures so hard, and it’s going to be great.
Burn on crit, cleansing fire, and blind on burn, with stone splinters, alacrity, and stone heart in earth, renewing stamina in arcane tree.
Alacrity just so that when I drop my conjures I can use magnetic wave and obsi flesh for added utility before I conjure for more damage, and thus have time to conjure without being in danger.
s/f for the above skills and for the extra armor+blind as even more defense (together with a 3-hit auto for more crits)
I will try staff as well because it has some great utility, but I will have worse heals without almost any blasts.
I might even use zealot, but I’ll probably go berserk eventually because I won’t be healing excessively. If only there was p/p/v gear, for better defense against conditions while maintaining damage and crit chance.

I have been hit for instant downed in Factuals. Burst isn’t always the best way to go. I am more of a Tankish-Burning sort of build. I only run with Staff in certain ones, The Atherblades one can be a nightmare. The one with the 2 dudes as the final boss is a nightmare as pure melee as well. These 2 i would go with staff 100%.

I saw the “might be able to kill people fast” and immediately assumed pvp.
Not really your fault, the new culprit is sleep deprivation.

Technically ele only reaches the highest DPS with either a rigid might rotation then LH or by sitting permanently in fire with staff and 2 spamming.
If you actually use your weapon skills/non-fire skills respectively you lose almost all of that pretty DPS and stop being top tier.
The third way to DPS is FGS rush against a wall which is just obviously an oversight of the devs and will most likely be fixed eventually, and that is situational.

Also, pretty much no team that can survive a dungeon run will ever want a necro. Conditions are painful in PvE, they don’t have enough damage, and they don’t bring enough group support. The ONLY time you will ever want a tank is if your group is unable to beat a boss.

There is no meta really, mostly because ele is so skill-dependent that you will do roughly as well no matter what spec you run once you get used to it.

However, I wouldn’t go full zerk unless you want to try to pull off a high-damage staff build (probably one of the most difficult builds if you aren’t zerging) or gimmicky fresh air burst.

WvW is only truly useful for zergs, in sPvP is the only class to not have any “competitive” builds though you can still do well if you’re better than the entire other team, especially any thieves.

Auto attack damage? It deals more damage than any Elementalist Auto Attack. It deals more damage than Arcane Wave or Arcane Blast. You should really try using it offensively sometimes. Stop using it exclusively for defensive purposes.

Yes it’s not a stun breaker but it lets you use it even when disabled which lets you get out of harm’s way momentarily. Yes, Elementalist is weak compared to all other classes, but stop exaggerating it.

Ehh, the lower cooldown on blink far outweighs the damage on LF in my opinion.
Sure the damage makes the two about equal if you’re using it purely to stay on target as D/D or as part of scepter burst, but that would be such a waste of the other capacities of teleports seeing as that isn’t much of a problem anyway.

I like both skills for the utility they provide, and blink is superior in that respect.

There’s one overiding flaw in these kinds of threads. For every intelligent and well thought-out argument as to where and why warriors are too strong, there’s another 9 who demand a “to the ground” nerf on the basis of “because I say so”.

That’s not a flaw in these threads, that’s a flaw in humanity in general. People for some reason have this stupid idea that opinions are of comparable validity to reasoned arguments. The same can be said of any case ever made. My personal philosophy is that if someone doesn’t have enough motivation to explain how they arrived at a conclusion, I don’t have enough motivation to hear what they have to say.

Chill is rare and short enough that it really isn’t too bad (except to eles, but then again everything hurts eles more than other classes), but immobilize should never have been made a stacking condition. Preventing dodges and any sort of movement is pretty darn close to a stun, and should be treated at least somewhat like one.
Again, worse to eles because range lock, and the fact that both our survival and a considerable amount of our utility (if Evasive Arcana is taken) depends on dodging frequently.

On a side note, has anyone else been immobilized mid dodge?
Seems like something that shouldn’t be a thing.

you can still dodge during immob, the “evaded” part of dodging works, however you cannot move outside the pixel you got bound to.

edit; Dont forget ranger pets with Malicious training. You can dish out loads of chill, most of it are longer then 6 seconds.

No, I mean literally mid-dodge immobilize will appear on my bar. I will be in motion when it appears, and continue to move until the dodge ends, at which point I stop being able to move.

The strongest warrior builds I see have very high damage resistance just for being warriors, with a nice amount of cc, and pretty good damage. Condition warriors can even bring some awesome group support.

That’s actually pretty close to the classic bunker ele setup.

Sadly, you won’t get anywhere by autoattacking on an ele, nor will you have any degree of success in a single attunement. Especially water staff #1 is underpowered, the heal radius is too small and the heal itself is too weak to merit casting it ever.

I also recommend changing your runes and sigils, you currently have ones that are horribly underpowered. Anything on kill is mediocre at best, and the 6 on vampirism is sort of useless, as is the 2 (the 6 doesn’t even proc soothing disruption). If you really want those 2 and 4 bonuses, though, I suggest splashing 2 runes of the water for the extra healpow and boon duration, both of which would be of benefit to your build.

That means that the OP cannot buy it straight out as he said.

As for the material cost, I’ve just crafted some pieces and it cost me roughly 100g for a chest armor and 100g for a leg armor. The other pieces will be cheaper, but I think between 400 and 500g for a full set would be a good estimate.

…does that mean I could have had another 100g instead of the celestial chest I have?

Support Ele: Still viable?

Fair enough, sounds like the meta’s changed. Figured it probably would have in over a year.

Fortunately my 1575 gems I had lying around in my account have skyrocketed in value, so I’ll just re-equip myself with some DPS gear. Thanks for the feedback.

I know right? I got the game about a month after it came out, and gems were like 50 silver/100 gems.
I really should have invested back then, could have made myself quite the profit.

I can see this working as a condition tank build to be honest

But then you run into the problem with ele conditank builds; not enough tanking, and not enough conditions.
Only natural access to two conditions and the lowest heath/armor in the game make for a rough time.
Some people can make it work, but that’s more of a reflection on their experience (or running diamond skin 1v1 against dire necros) than on their build.

Question about Lava Font w/ Traits

It’s a bug. Reload the area and it should fix itself (I think). It is rumored to be caused by switching traits or allotting points in an area without then reloading an area.

However, you will never have two Lava Fonts up at once, even with CDR and Persisting Flames, unless there happens to be a trick with cast cancelling through sheathing. While Lava Font has a zero cast time, it also has a weird aftercast that counts as casting the skill for cooldown purposes; that is, the cooldown doesn’t start until the aftercast ends. You can still cast it and then dodge it with no fear though, because the actual effect of the skill happens immediately and cannot be interrupted.

The one thing I’m anxious about is that they’ll exchange the current rapid attunement cycling for something slower, moe akin to weapon swapping ‘because the masses prefer that’.

Seriously, I’d take a 25% damage nerf if they’ll keep Evasive Arcana and attunement field/finisher combos the way they are now on staff.

I wouldn’t, but that’s only because staff is balanced enough as is outside of a zerg* if not a bit underpowered. Yes it is my favorite weapon, and yes I do well with it (I think), but I won’t pretend that if I had the same level of dedication on another weapon, or even another class, I wouldn’t do far better.

*You shouldn’t really balance around zergs unless something is really broken.

Yeah, I’m not sure how I feel about it myself. My main for a while was a shatter mesmer, and all the speed presses I needed could be a potential conflict. It would certainly be an improvement in groups, but I’m still undecided.

You could add effects that make conditions deal a moderate amount of direct damage (condition scaling ofc) when the cap is exceeded. I don’t see it changing PvP, but it would certainly make PvE conditions better.
