Well you’re a LoL player for one.
But nah seriously that’s an issue, it’s probably something you should take up with tech support rather than General Discussion.
I’d say I’m firmly in the “middle class” in terms of gold, I could afford abyss and black dye, but I’d be reeling if I bought them. I collect craft mats I’ll need for later, vendor blues and greens, sell yellows and exotics on TP, and mostly try my hardest to not die(as a Guardian I’m quite good at this) to keep down on repair costs. I don’t have a solid source of income outside of basic things most people do (I tried buying and selling copper and jute on TP but I think I might be trying to buy at too low prices?). The thing is that without both luck and some serious commitment to farming/grinding, it’s not easy to reliably make ton’s o dough. The newly imposed dungeon exp/cash limit only serves to exacerbate that. You could craft to make money at lv400, but only if you farm the materials, since you typically craft at a loss if you buy what you need.
Well, they all want to fight the dragons, they just have their own methods of going about it. Vigil through force, Whispers through Subterfuge, Priory through knowledge. But don’t forget the Vigil don’t just crack skulls for kitten and giggles. They fight for something if it means they can use it to get an upper hand on fighting the dragons. They’re ultimately fighting for the fate of Tyria.
I remember Anet saying that they don’t want players to be reaping profits from karma vendors, so they made them unsellable and unsalvageable. Imagine buying the crappiest and cheapest cloth armor piece you can find in bulk from a karma vendor, then salvaging it for its jute and selling it for a hefty profit.
Indeed, its only been 3 weeks since release, as more people pick up and play and start buying gems with money/gold and selling gems we could see a fair balance, I just hope that people don’t have set in stone the idea that 1g=$5 or something, things are gonna fluctuate, you’ll just have to wait till conversion rates are at prices that are acceptable, even if you don’t like them.
What he’s saying is that regardless of dungeon difficulty, 69 runs is definitely a grind, especially to those who like the armor but hate the dungeon (hate that could be further exacerbated by the incredible lack of difficulty).
So I made a new character, and decided I would restrict what zones he can go in based on his the level of his craft professions, now obviously as he levels out of the zone he’ll start salvaging higher tier mats but that’ll be a supplement to the actual tier items I will be requiring. Does anyone know what levels certain tiers of items start to drop at?
1-15: T1
16-40: T2 (so much iron…..)
40-50: T3
50-60: T4
60-75: T5
75+: T6
That’s a rough guesstimate of what I think they drop at, can anyone tell me if I’m wrong or right?

To clarify for those who don’t understand, during 2 of the Beta Weekend events, there was an end-of-beta event where the shatterer would fly around, corrupting players into one of the branded and pitting them against people. In the other was a team deathmatch fight with rifles, hunger game style. They had limited ammo for their skills, pick ups akin to powerups and a constantly draining HP. These were pretty fun so I wouldn’t mind seeing them re-implemented somehow.
On item #4, Zhaitan is evil, it’s hard to write meaningful backstories for massive forces-of-nature that exist solely for their own benefit. Plus, as an Asuran researcher points out for you during the “order selection” quests, the Dragons are consuming the natural magic of the word at a disturbingly fast rate. It only makes sense to destroy them before what is pretty much the in game version of oil is drained out by giant, world destroying sponges.
Seeing as Ratan Pten is right next to Mt. Maelstrom which is Destroyer infested, it’s logical to assume that’s one of the cities abandoned by the Asura.
This kinda seems like a loaded question since the forums is almost evenly split between dungeons are too hard/dungeons are just fine, but the overall consensus is that CM and one of the CoF explorable paths arekitten easy.
He’s known to sylvari, who will encounter them during their story. But yeah he dos yoink the spotlight away from you/your order and he marks when the story begins t homogenize.
@Apathy (quote function seems to have disappeared for whatever reason), yeah, they are. If I want a dungeon armor set/weapon, then I HAVE to grind that dungeon, whether I want to or not. My only options are to either grind tediously and practically fall asleep as I play, or to just say “as badkitten as this armor is, it is sadly not worth the effort”.
I don’t mind that dungeon grinding is the only way to get dungeon stuff, that’s explicitly what they’re made for, but I don’t want to grind dungeons when the only way to do it without being bored to hell/wasting time on potential bugs or massively boring damage sponges is to abuse exploits or quit part-way through and go back in.
Money sink+another reason that I can’t think of.
This game is turning into a nerfest cry for every class. Mesmers are too powerful! Thieves kill me too fast! Warriors bash me! I can’t kill guardians!
For God’s sake, I don’t say this often but learn to play or find another game.
Judging by the trend on this forum, all classes are OP but the ones you play.
I’ve never played an MMO where this was not the case. I honestly don’t care that people consider some classes OP/UP/broken right now because the game is only 2 weeks old. Anet -needs- to hear criticism from all sides right now so they can get their game balanced well, an MMO’s first 2 months are where the initial changes are made to make things balanced after appropriate user input, and I think after that is when we’re gonna have to call Anet out on OP/UP status.
If they’re officially recognized as an E-sport, expect this type of thread literally every single day, for probably every single class.
As any League of Legends player will tell you, premades easily stomp all over pub groups all day e’erday, and for tournaments, people just don’t go into it alone and with randoms they can’t trust to know strategy. They wanna go in with friends that they can coordinate strategy with beforehand and know what they can and can’t do, and build around the team’s strength and weaknesses. It’s just a better team format that way.
The only way to get equipment is to use your glory to purchase PvP chests from your appropriate glory vendor and hope something you want pops out. If it doesn’t you can either stash it in your locker (is the PvP locker accountwide? I think it is), or use a PvP salvage kit to break it down in PvP craft mats. Then you can take that, along with a PvP slot token, a rank token, and some other item into the mystic forge and attempt to produce the item you want, but as far as I’m concerned it’s all randomized. So whatever it is GS you want, luck will determine how soon you get it.
The first major rant against this game/Anet is going to be an amazing read thanks to this filter. It’s already produced such gems as horsekitten.
It’s hard to stop a massive multi-billion dollar industry from worming into your game. There are some MMOs where gold bots are just a way of life, to the point where gold buying isn’t immediately frowned upon by the majority of the population. We can report them, but ultimately it’s up to A-net to weed them out and do their best to counter them.

It’s extra sad for Asura, your trademark genius and snobbiness to lesser races just goes away and you’re more mentally in line with everyone else. This is also true for talking to other Asura running around the game but that’s another topic.

I thought the general consensus for Orr was that is was either way too easy, which is why everyone now just farms all of their events, or that a fair portion of said events are just flat bugged?
You need to purchase the recipe, which makes it get added to your list. It’d be too much free exp if you had to discover them, not to mention it defeats the whole point of a recipe; giving you all the information you need to make the item.
So I’m sure this has happened to people before, but on occasion I am rewarded for DEs that I actively did not participate in.
It usually goes like this: I’m walking along, looking for the next gathering node/waypoint/vista/jump puzzle entrance what have you, and there will be an event near by, not so near by that I can walk to it in a short amount of time, but it’s out of my way and I don’t feel like going out of my way to participate. So as I march along, the DE long since absent from my map, I will eventually get the “Mission: Success!” pop up on my screen, awarding me a silver and the appropriate reward. On more inane occasions, I’ve been given gold rewards for DEs that I not only did not participate in, but was also entirely unaware was occurring. Is this gonna be fixed?
The stone method works, you just need for someone to pretty much be the designated stone thrower, and also for that person to have a modicum of intelligence so that they don’t throw the stones in the wrong direction. At some point they will teleport back together, you just need to stay calm and let the stone thrower do his job and maybe help out a bit, since one they’re standing right next to each other you need to make sure that you don’t knock them too close to each other constantly.
Pro tip: you should probably update your OP with the new information so people don’t constant scroll through to see if anything is added.
There is indeed a PvP locker in the mists that stores any and all PvP related items, including PvP craft mats.
“By the way, you’ve been struck”
“You’re dead, you just don’t know it yet”
Some more quotes the male Asura very randomly says when beating on mobs.
We have spoiler tags you know.
Well, Darklor, according to your text, you used bolts of silk and gossamer, while Azurrei used scraps. Maybe that was the issue here?
They couldn’t be tested during the BWEs since no one exactly mega rushed to lv70+ to get in there and test them out, and now we’re suffering the consequences of not having the option to roll high level characters to test high level content, that seems to be where the majority of the bugs are.
Claw of Jormag – Frostgorge Sound, lv80, the waypoint eludes me at the moment.
“I dare you, hit me” – Retaliation
“I’m nigh invincible” -protection
“Accelerate!” – swiftness
“I feel 6 feet tall!” – might
“Vitality restored” – vigor
He has a bunch more for conditions as well but I won’t be listing those
To clarify for future readers, he’s talking about Zomorros, the genie that lives inside the mystic forge and how using it and getting something good is entirely uo to chance unless you use a specific recipe.
OOooh, nice teeth!
Are teeh a valued commodity in Quaggan society or something?
People aren’t complaining that they’re impossible, They’re complaining that the obscene difficulty of the dungeon does not match the measly reward you get. And then the dread you feel when you realize you have to grind it if you decide you look the armor sets/a lot of the weapons.
That’s the combined material cost of all the components. It’s so you don’t have to individually craft the insignias and armor pieces every time you want to make it.
So long as there exists a tradeable currency in MMO, so to will gold bots. No gold? They’’ll just find something else of value to trade. It’s hard to totally remove them, you can really only just keep them as supressed as possible. It doesn’t hurt that they’re selling their gold at better conversion rates than you get from buying gems from Anet and turning that into gold.
Because Anet has this magical power that lets them detect the number of runs people have done? Interesting.
But that does make me interested if they have an actual hidden statistic that tracks total dungeon runs.
It doesn’t help that people actively announce that champions or world bosses are up so they can get everyone around to kill it. Most people do it for the karma reward anyway, and if its a world boss? It’s the chest he drops, waypoint cost bekittenyou might pluck an exotic out of it.
Semi-important note, Zhaitan is the final boss of the game, which is why he gets his own instance.
They seem to be on a timer, and when that timer resets, the meta event chain starts up. In Blazeridge you can ask when the shatterer will be up and they’ll give you an accurate number often with 5 minutes of the meta event to start again
He and his supremely powerful cousin Kol Skullcrusher over in Harathi Hinterlands could definitely use an HP decrease. It’s understandable that they’d have large HP pools being giants and also champions, but even then it is disgustingly large, especially when all 3 of the fightable dragon champions seems to have a smaller pool. The giant in Nageling is worse in this regards as he is incredibly easy, while on the flipside Kol’s stomp range is so massive you can’t even long bow him from a safe distance and the damage it does it almost certain to OHKO elementalists that don’t stack vitality or have protection. They definitely need some HP decreases and a difficulty up for the giant at Nageling (dodge or die if you fight Kol).
great suggestion. I could see myself running an instance so my alt could have decent gear when they hit 30, but I do not see myself running it since I already out leveled that instance before I discovered it
You could still transmute it so you can have cool looking gear at lv1.
