I don’t know man for some reason I think most people want EASIER content not harder.
I mean look at Queensdale for example. Why do a good number of the population play there? It’s not just because of the champ trains, there were mass people there over the other maps before champs dropped good loot.
The way I see it most people don’t like playing in the other maps because:
1 – The monsters take longer to kill solo due to their extra HP pools.
2 – The monsters have a lot more annoying control skills which again delay kills.
3 – The monsters are grouped up a lot more which can become a problem if you are solo, usually again it’s just slower kills.
4 – They like the social aspect of mmos, and talking in combat can get you killed if you take your time if even just for a split second to type what you are saying. Again Queensdale is VERY fast kills, which makes it easier to talk/kill at the same time, less risk – more fun.
Maybe it’s just me but again I say I think most players actually want easier. I don’t think they want it easier because they find the current content too hard but I don’t know maybe it just makes it more fun?
PS, I know this kind of sounds off topic since I didn’t go into dungeons, but really the players who play those really do it for the rewards not really “fun”. The challenge is gone once you find out how to do it and since everyone and their dog these days goes the Berserker road I guess I can see why you want it “harder”. Maybe you all just shot yourself in the foot lol?

Perhaps it can help us to answer your question if you let us know what parts of the game you thought were broken or didn’t like.
No probs mate, Wiki has many errors.
If I had more time/patience I would edit there myself but meh what can you do lol?
Actually the DDE one used to be 5 days but I think they increased it to 2 weeks when they released the 2 week BLTC version.
You might be better off just hitting WvW if it’s events/Karma you want. There are usually karma trains running there.
Umm I only ever got 1 Rytlock but apart from that yes every char gets the banker golem and the Wolf elite. Btw they seem to have updated the banker golem to last for 2 weeks now. Well I’m sure that’s what I saw the last time I made a new char.
as far as i know, GW2 is still a temporary game to play (just like its content lolol). you play it, enjoy it, and now moving on with something else. doesnt keep me around.
This all depends on how many hours you can play each day tbh. If you are the type that can and does sit down to play 10+ hours everyday then yes GW2 will become boring for you – fast and you will run out of content.
On the other hand if you can only spare a few hours a day or less and/or like to explore everything in the game (all content, classes, game modes etc) then the game can last a bit longer for you with the living stories filling any gaps in between.
Speaking for myself I am the type that can and does spend 10+ hours a day and yet I still have tons left in this game to do. :P
some1 start a petition to rework this ugly creature from ground up! I want pants for light armor, been waiting for ONE YEAR and nothing, not a single good looking set. This armor is so disappointing its not even funny…
There’s some 7-ish sets that have pants and no major cape/trenchcoat type thing to cover them for light armours, weather you like them or not however is another story…..

It’s all a set up you see…
I think we all know what the upcoming gem item might be:UNLIMITED TRANSMUTATION CRYSTAL- for all your transmuting needs – for only 3000 gems
This will never happen, it would lose them too much money in the long run. Sure it might give them a quick boost initially but in the long run they are better off with the current stones.
Actually they might do this for the stones (lvl 79 gears and lower) but they def wont for lvl 80 gears.
Actually guys there are many issues with regards to water weapons in game still. Anet just has not got around to fixing them. 1 is the naming of them, another is incorrect icons or skins in various places and the worst and most obvious are all the karma sellers of them all over the world map either selling incorrect ones or again their icons/skins/names being incorrect.
Example, 9/10 maps the heart vendors sell the “simple” skinned versions on weapons. But oh no not so when it comes to the water weapons. They are usually this:
Spear – Invaders Skin (WvW)
Trident – - Invaders
Harpoon Gun – Steam skin (even then I think it’s the skin for Steam Rifle and not even the Harpoon Gun).
Basically this makes the true “simple” skins very rare to see in game and just looks unprofessional in design/polish. There are various inconsistancies for armours as well with the karma merchants but I will save that issue for another time lol.
Anet you are doing a find job with polishing but please I urge you to not forget to go back and double check on those karma merchants!

Not seen what they look like on males, I guess they might not look too bad. I never liked many of the looks on females anyways so this is nothing new for me. :P
Whatever you have done to fix the issues I had and make ghosts look like ghosts again thank you!
Fact is it would take a lot more time and resources to tell it all inside the game and most people wouldn’t care for it at all anyways. It’s lore and most people ignore it.
I feel that the 2 weeks they give us is plenty of time to do most of what you need to do to get whatever the flavour of the 2 week period item is and enjoy the content. However I don’t feel that having items in game with a limited time to get them is a very good system at all. It only creates jealousy etc amongst players and adds to that thought process of “I have to play this game THEN or I will miss out FOREVER”.
But some people like that and like to feel “more specialer” (I know it’s not a word but I think it suits the type of people I am describing here :P) than others lol.
The idea would be that if the conditions were removed from the auto attack skill the direct damage output would have to be bumped up of course. Also the conditions would then be placed in amongst the other skills or utilities which are simply just not used as often of course because of the cool downs. You can see how that can help somewhat when it comes to mass players. Less of it being applied every second vs every 30 seconds or whatever the cool down is.
Btw NOT everyone is a berserker who does not use conditions…..it’s simply just plain normal damage. Which again is what you would be getting with either of the 2 options I put up on offer.
If a player is running with Dire gear, why would they want to lose conditions on their autoattack in favor of more raw damage? A condition set hits like a limp noodle. You’re saying to limit a conditioners ability to dish out conditions. How is that helpful for the player? Conversely, should we remove all raw damage from any skill that applies a condition then? It’s not a solution to the problem. You’re just making it harder to apply conditions, and ignoring the problem of the stack limit. In the Teq fight, you’ve got 80+ people. If even half of them apply 1 single stack of bleeding, you’re still over the cap by 15. Fail.
And I never said everyone plays zerk; just making an analogy. And what is plain normal damage if not “not conditions”? Even a hybrid build is hampered by the condition stack limit.
I’m saying a big part of the stack limit problem is because of the fact that auto attack skills are applying them far too fast, this needs to be addressed to help limit that. Hey if Anet decides to make all conditions duration based instead of intensity based to help fix this problem then maybe that’s the way to go….
TBH I don’t know the best solution but I can see that a big part of the problem is the nonstop application of conditions from auto attacks.
It’s not that there are few voices of reason to counter the trash talk, but few reasons.
If ANet paid attention to the constant gripes and change the game accordingly we wouldn’t see the same threads pop up 24/7 saying the same exact things.
There would just be new complaints is all. Seen it for 5+ years before on other games forums. no matter how great a game can be/gets someone will ALWAYS find a reason to complain.
Besides if Anet "changed the game accordingly " they could still not please everyone because it’s impossible. Some people like some things one way another group will like it the other way etc. Impossible.
If they changed the game accordingly apologized publically for not making the game the manifesto and the other numerous interviews that the devs put out and setup a non-grind system of advancement with only1 tier, then they’d actually get back the majority of the players they lost post November 2012 when people got tired of being hyped and not receiving what they were told they were going to get for their $60.
Well I got everything so far for my $120 and more so. And yes when I say 120 that’s what I paid because of exchange rates and the stupid government taxes we have here. Not to mention the hundreds I have likely spent on top of that in the gem store.
What grind system is there exactly that you have to do to “advance” anywhere? Only grinding is if you want to lvl crafts or make legendary/ascended. You don’t have to do any of that to enjoy 99% of the game at all.
I should say many of the players they lost would be the ones that spend far too much time here and need/expect more of a grind feature. I would expect a very, very small % have quit because things are not EXACTLY as the manifesto promised. But you have to expect things can’t or wont always turn out as they are first thought/said/promised. Things change and sometimes you just have to change with them.

Yup they “work” so that we can “play”. People seem to forget that, sure they play as well but not as much as they work on the game I can bet you.
I could see a very simple fix for this:
“coming next month to the BLTC a new item that you can sit on designed specifically for your race! Take it everywhere with you so you can sit down ANYWHERE and really look like you are part of the environment”.
Really it would not take long for them to create a chair item type tonic which sits each of the 5 races perfectly so that they can sit anywhere with them that we can sit/lay at now. They could even add a few more tables and RP areas to the game so that people can place their chairs next to them to have that community feel in place.
They would also make some small change from doing so as well.
ANets development team isn’t the smartest, nor do they ever see issues that are inevitably going to arise.
Condition damage has been completely forgotten about in pve and no one knows why they used such terrible restrictive coding so we can only have 1 stack of 25 bleed.
Best bet is to just go raw damage.
I don’t see why anyone would use conditions in PVE regardless, heck even in WvW or sPvP for that matter. The damage can be removed, does not effect stationary items/enemies such as turrets, siege etc. Really for PvE it’s only for a novelty tbh. Unless they actually decided to do a Final Fantasy type system of conditions where certain enemies are strong/weak against them it’s all just novelty….
Hmm I’m pretty sure that Burning is the best for damage….
Well I mean it does more damage faster. Sure maybe bleeding does more in the long run because it’s more spread out thus giving you more time to add more stacks to it.
I think the biggest issues with condition damage especially where bosses are concerned and max stacks is the fact that there are weapons/skills that cause condition damage straight from the auto attack skill 1. This should NOT be the case. Conditions (especially damage type) should be from skills with cooldowns only. The issue is clearly seen in any Meta event or champ fight when you have more than a couple of people using the same weps on the same classes.
If they really wanted to address the problem with condition damage especially when it comes to boss fights I can see 2 ways they could do it:
1 – Remove condition effects from skill 1 auto attacks.
2 – Another choice could be to turn ALL condition damage into strict normal damage for the purposes of fighting champs/bosses to avoid the max over stacking problems. As for making control skills useless vs them heck I don’t know could they not instead have some control removal methods? Or in the least have certain bosses/champs strong vs certain controls (such as dredge vs Blind) and perhaps give them a weakness as well to counter balance this….
Stripping autoattacks of conditions is a terrible idea. Why should zerker players benefit from their autoattack but conditioners have to use cooldown skills? That’s ridiculous, effectively rendering all conditioners worthless while skills are on CD. Why even have autoattacks for them?
The problem is that Anet has capped the bleed stacks. In PvP or WvW it’s fine. But in PvE against champs, world bosses, and in dungeons it becomes hampering to conditioners. It’s a technical limitation of their servers. But it needs to be addressed. Something like your 2nd solution. It’s not like those champs ever condition cleanse anyway, so letting the extra stacks of bleed act as direct damage should be fine.
As for the other damaging conditions:
- poison deals less damage, stacks duration, but reduces healing
- burning deals a lot more damage, stacks duration
- torment deals the same damage as bleed, stacks the same, and deals more damage to moving foesThey’re balanced

One of the devs already commented awhile back on why we don’t have sitting animations.
For one, you have several distinct races, which presents problems when sitting. You’d have to animate everything from a tiny Asura to a huge Charr. And don’t forget the wide range of heights that you have to deal with.
Then you have the different types of sitting furniture. Bar stools, logs, chairs, e.t.c. You’d have to animate every single piece of furniture in the world.
Then you have to deal with clipping issues. Do we ignore them (and have people continue to complain about them) or do we just go forward and spend a ton of time towards fixing it?
All that time invested in fixing such a novelty feature is simply not worth it, especially when there are toher more important QOL fixes this game has.
Not to mention the RP community in GW2 is a very, very small minority.
This is logical, but the justification is quite cheap. Three of the five races are humanoids, using almost the same animation, which requires a minor calibration. Even in WoW (God forgive me for comparison) races is much more distinct, and devs gives much less attention to animations, and in spite of it all, everything worked out there. This fact makes feel slightly embarrassed for GW2.
Also, do not want to offend anyone, but I do not see any special patches which fixing bugs and issues that takes SO MUCH time and attention. So I don’t believe the excuses like “there are much more important things”.
Btw. Do not take the word “role-play” like something artsy and eccentric, in the spirit of the people playing the role of drunken elves, talking fancy language. Role-play – is a key aspect of any !role-playing! game (RPG (MMO!RPG!)). Player comes into the game, player runs the scenario, player explores, the player equips, player passes all, and… all. Player is bored. Player has nothing more to do. Because the world around him just scenery. Huge cities – are just a scene for a dozen “dialogue” NPCs with whom you can talk. No atmospherics. No “presence”. Player does not you feel like a part of the world. All around the perceived just in terms of mechanics, numbers and unfair RNG.
You can not make fun guild event in the spirit of “fill up to the bar and get drunk.” Or sit in a row on folding chairs and fishing on the canal bank. You can not participate in a bar fight. Watch the sunset while sitting campfires. Play cards with someone. Smoke hookah ala gotic. Imposingly ride around town on a horse posing by rare shining armor. And others joys like this.
One of the main reasons for the success of a good MMO – the possibility of an infinite amount of time to be engaged in nonsense. As long as the player feels that he is living in his beloved world – he’s soul will be within. Otherwise the game ends where it ends game’s progress or its meaning.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – they need to hire a few ppl who worked on The Sims.
BS, you’re not gonna get a blood clot for sitting a few hours or more unless you’re already unhealthy. If that was true I would have died years ago.
I wouldn’t disregard this information. I do have a blood clot myself on my right side just under my shoulder blade and I do spend a fair amount of time on gaming and have done for many years.
Thank you for the information whoever posted this.

Perhaps it is so small in this game as well as in other games because the game itself does not encourage it by design or by intent?
I remember reading or watching a video in the past I’m sure in which I heard them clearly say they don’t want this to seem just like another mmo. They want you to feel like you are in this world, in another world actually living there as part of it.
To me it seems they have done little to push this so far but I understand they are polishing the core game right now which is much needed. But from what they described I certainly don’t think that JUST dynamic events/living story are or should be the only ways for them to add this to be a “living world”.
You need things such as player housing (yes, yes I know it’s coming), game content that is not just combat, combat, combat, combat such as fishing etc. Heck go as far as give us “jobs” if you have to, to make it believable that we are existing in this world and playing our part as well as give us something ELSE to do.
And yes even the little things like sitting in a chair and such makes all the difference in the world to all of this. They could slowly work on these small things. I undersand for some races there could be issues but they could work around them for now. For example they could have Asura, humans, Sylvari be able to sit on chairs possibly even Norn if not they and charr could instead sit on the edge of a table or the floor. There are ALWAYS work arounds if a little bit of time and thought are put into it.
I also remember reading so many months ago that Anet fixed a glitch that people were abusing to get into the Home instance in Divinity’s Reach so that they could RP there. Seemed a shame to me that was done but since it was a glitch I agree it had to be done. Even Anet themselves however said they liked that the community were embracing the RP element and such and were looking into more ways to implement it into the future. So lets just all hope it’s not too far off and yes, some day, maybe some day we can do something as simple as sit in a chair.
Lastly I would like to say, while sitting in a chair may seem silly and small just remember that once upon a time jumping was looked at in the same manner. Woah me look how much that one silly little thing impacted on this game!
Let me set this straight, once again. My point is, it’s fine to make constructive feedback about things your not happy with, but to make whiny posts about how the game as a whole is failing or going downhill is just complete rubbish and that’s what brings the negatively. ANet appreciate feedback, they don’t appreciate people telling them the game they have worked so hard with and continue to do so is failing, when it isn’t.
That’s an absurd statement. Feedback and moaning are defined by the reader. What’s complaining uselessly to you can be legitimate feedback to another, negative or positive.
Let ANet decide what they call feedback and whining. You don’t work for them. You don’t represent them. Who are you to tell anyone on this forum as to how they can express themselves? |:
It’s called logic. For example, how would you feel if you worked on something for years and then people starting saying ‘its failing’ or ‘arena net ignore us’ or ‘its going downhill’. When it’s obvious there doing there best they can for us. They only have so many priorities and they can’t please everyone. If someone has constructive feedback about something in PARTICULAR then it’s different. But it’s nice to try and keep a positive vibe in the community. It’s a game at the end of the day. Im not trying to ‘represent’ ArenaNet. People who moan about the game as a whole aren’t looking at the bigger picture. Yes there’s things wrong with the game and things need looking at. But all in all it isn’t a game that’s going downhill as people are making it out to be.
Agreed. For something to be “going down hill” it needs to be worse than when it first came out or have parts taken away from it so that it is worse than when it first came out.
Seriously what has been taken away from this game? Besides MF (on gear) and the ability to farm without DR kicking in I can think of nothing. What has been added that takes away how great this game was at the beginning? I can think of nothing.
People could say ascended gear etc, but that is NOT needed for anything, it is nothing more than an ADDED thing you can do if you WANT to. Time gating is the other thing I see thrown around here and there. Well if you don’t want grinding the only other option is a little time gating here and there. It is NOT grinding it is a way to keep you working at something over a period of time without having to throw in a LOT of work that grinding would normally have you do.
Without grinding or time gating all you have is RNG or instant acquirement of something. Perhaps going forward Anet needs to simply expand on these methods and options of acquiring things or share them around between them?
Exactly. I’m glad someone understands where I’m coming from. And they just so happen to be a fellow Engineer!
Lmao, I have every class and race but yes Engi is my main. I played the second beta weekend as an Engi and once I got my hands on the Flamethrower I knew there was NO other option for me as a main. :P
They need to add a few mid-high level recipes for it, then stop making every godkitten ed thing account bound. Do they want economy or not???
Seriously tho who would buy them? Everyone would be selling and they would all be stuck at 1 copper each with no one buying……
Unless the items created by those recipes would be useful…
Well yes they would have to give more uses for them of course for that to work. Otherwise you would have everyone selling (remember not everyone crafts) and no one buying as they are too easy to get yourself without even trying.

They need a good mix. They can have temporary features that give rewards you may never see again, but they need to be constantly expanding the world and features with permanent content too. They need to have temporary story arcs that appear and you do stuff, but then leave permanent game mechanics or content to expand the world.
Also they need to add more long-term guild based goals. I think they’re pretty good on the long-term player growth, but they need big epic things for guilds to achieve and be glorious with. Things that people achieve as groups and are bigger than what any one individual can do is what MMOs are about.
Reading the last paragraph of your reply for some reason put in my head the following image:
“Coming soon to PVE: guilds will fight for control of lands. This will be done via the current dynamic event systems such as a basic example being in Queensdale where centaurs and Lionguard are constantly fighting back and forth to hold areas of land. Guilds or just groups of players will be able to hold these areas much like the same is done in WvW. There will be rewards in those areas for continuing to hold these areas by continuing to hold off the enemy invasions”.
Now something like THIS could bring each and every map and each part of those maps back to life and give people reasons to go back there. Of course DR would have to be taken into consideration and REMOVED from it all perhaps.
They need to add a few mid-high level recipes for it, then stop making every godkitten ed thing account bound. Do they want economy or not???

with all the new content and all the stuff to do all the time it is overwhelming, which is a good thing I guess
I mean come on! every 2 weeks there’s some good drama unfolding, new stuff, new tricks, new this new that. Ya all the endless stuff anet is making me do to try and keep up with everything. I don’t think there is another game out there that can say the same thing.
Thanks Anet for continuing to re-define MMO in a good way.
Well tbh Runescape had been giving updates every 2 weeks for the last so many years when I last played it. Recently I heard they now do it weekly. O.O
Their content is a lot more varied too BUT this is my game now so we will forget I even said any of that. :P
what’s up with all these thread telling people to stop moaning? are they professional trolls hired by anet?
No idea but it seems they have not read, perhaps even seen the sticky at the top of the page “Please remain civil towards one another
”.
Surely you would expect posts of these nature to be nothing more than flame bait…

MMO players are the most spoiled out of all gamers.
But in all the MMOs I have played I have never seen a more spoiled fanbase than GW2.
I wouldn’t call the players here spoiled. Being spoiled is always the fault of the person who does the spoiling of the persons that are spoiled (as in parents who let their kids do anything they want or get everything they want).
Now people that come to these forums just to hate on the game or to troll would you say that is Anet’s fault? No they are not spoiled and this is NOT the most spoiled fanbase at all.
Well actually it could be said that we are the most spoiled but that would be speaking of those that DO NOT come to the forums to complain because they are perfectly happy with the game. So in that context it would be a good thing. :P
I respectfully disagree.
Most people posting here are spoiled. All I can see is “I want…”, “I want this now…”, “I want this fast…”, “I want less work…”.
That’s how most posts translate for me. It could be just me but I think I could name a few (not link a few) topics that commonly imply “I want…”.
Perhaps you are right, maybe I just ignore all those whiny posts more than other people do. But still, I wouldn’t blame Anet for it.

I like to throw snowballs at kids just for the fun of it! Shame I can’t pelt their parents as well, now that would be a blast!
Any starter town and even on the starter lvl 1-15 maps. Open up your map and you will see a sword icon.
For your class you can use:
Main Hand
Dagger
Scepter
Staff
Off hand:
Dagger
Focus
It’s not many but each with the 4 different Elements gives you a total of 20 spells just from the weapons alone then you get utilities as well.
Tip: as you level up those same weapon sellers will also get new weapons to sell to you for your level. But it’s probably better to just buy from other players off the Trading Post which can be found in any city. Again open the map to look for it (Scales icon).
Good luck!
Two ways really:
1 – Use a different weapon.
2 – Unlock the utility skills with skill points when you obtain enough.
Actually I think I may have misread your pot at first. You press F1-F4 to change between the different elements on each of those weapons.
Fire – Water – Air – Earth.
It’s really sad to see the community has started moaning alot more recently. These forums are beginning to look like the World of Warcraft forums where they moan about every bit of content they can think off. Fair enough if you have feedback, but I can’t stand seeing posts like ‘the state of the game’. This game is amazing. Just because your a little bit bored of your dailies or doing fracts the whole games going downhill? There’s tonnes of other fun stuff. Try getting some cool titles, or try completely all jumping puzzles or getting a new armour set for a new build or doing world explorer or making a new alt or playing limitless games of pvp or making your own guild, do bounties etc or maxing out all the crafts or getting full ascended or playing the living world content or doing one of the Activities such as Southsun Survival or getting Dungeon Master Or collecting all the dyes. And the list goes on. So please don’t make posts about how the games ‘going downhill’ when it’s not. The pvp is the most balanced I’ve ever seen on any game. The PvE is great fun.
sorry, but the game really is going downhill.
How so? Specifics please…..
I think the biggest problem here is that “some” people expect GW2 to give them ALL their entertainments. In a game that specifically keeps the focus OFF grinding (for the most part) and as a core design that is VERY hard for any game company to do.
Fact is people just get bored of stuff even if it is the best thing that they have ever done. Like the saying goes “too much of a good thing is not a good thing”. Wait is that a saying or did I just create it? :P

While you can delete this stuff as a viable option, why there isn’t a way to increase collectible storage is beyond me.
I would pay a realistic gem store fee even, to have my storage capacity increased PER SLOT. I don’t want more slots, I want to be able to store 500, 750, 1000 in one slot and would pay for it.Don’t expect this to be implemented though.
The amount of items in a single item stack is defined by a single byte, and thus is limited to a maximum of 255 (though the game limits stacks to 250, it is possible to alter chat links so it looks like a stack has 255). They’d have to change this to work with two bytes instead… and that’s probably too much work for Anet to handle.
Runescape has had unlimited stack (well the rumour is actually something in the 2.
5 million mark actually) amounts per slot for the past 12-ish years. For a game that is so outdated to be able to do this I really can’t see how Anet could not. The issue is storage and server space, Runescape has a subs attached to it for all that extra bank space (well extra slots not the unlimited stack amounts even free accounts get that!). So really this is the only issue Anet has here.
Having said that I am sure there are other options or plans in play for further add ons to the stack amounts (I’m sure I saw a 500 boost item in some post that posts the cracked codings or what not). If not I can assure you some people such as myself would pay a small subs for UNLIMITED stack amounts to help cover the extra server spaced needed to hold all that data.
I have to say yes I would call Christmas Temporary. Maybe it’s just an age thing this time around Vayne (no offense). :p
Anything NOT perm is in my view temporary. I think you are confusing “one time event’s” as temporary….
This kind of reminds me when I was working in my last job and I was chatting with a workmate who was a lot younger than me. We were talking about music and I said to him: “what are you crazy that song is awesome, it’s a classic”. To him the word classic was something bad and he said “exactly, it’s crap”…….I just didn’t get it lol…..
Another reason these items are limited time only is that it makes you think twice about spending real cash vs in game cash. Lets say this boom box as an example was to be perm. You could say to yourself right now " I like that I am going to get it but I don’t want to spend real cash so I will just earn enough gold in game over the next month or so to buy it".
With this thinking Anet would have less of a chance to make real cash. It sucks for you that you will miss the opportunity this time around due to probs with cash in real life. But perhaps to plan ahead for future items you can just save up in game cash to have ready for something like this if it happens next time something comes out that you really want if again you don’t have the real life cash to spend at the time even if you DO want to buy it with real cash.
Nothing much EXTRA really to do at lvl 80. Just think of the game being a little bit more easier to do thanks to the better gear you have access to as well as skills.
Btw I also come form Runescape (played 12ish years there on and off) and if you are anything like me you will be glad here for the no GRIND ( I mean true grind and legendary/ascended items do NOT come close) and just straight up fun that you can have.
Having said that tho I do have to warn that there is far, far, far less in content here than there especially when it comes to anything other than combat wise. Having said that tho just remember this is a game with only 1 year’s worth of content thus far compared to 12-ish. :P
Oh and I had a small smile when you said you wished this game had as many players as that does. Mainly because this game at it’s current state right now, VERY MUCH so reminds me of how Runescape was in it’s state at the 1 year mark (or perhaps more correctly so 1 year mark after members came out). The content, quality of community, etc I am talking about oh and I guess you could say the dedicated creators of course.
So, with all that in mind I can only see this game in a good light with a good future and I do EXPECT the player base to grow massively just as that other game did. TBH the only things that stops 90% of the players that play that game to be able to enjoy this is either:
1 – Not having a good enough computer.
2 – Not knowing about this game or how good it is.
And as for the other 10%:
3 – Not being able to break that addiction (give up on grinding) to try other games lol…
Wow just wow…..
All I will say is I can agree with the OP. Because with SAB coming back now and then or not the rewards that you can earn (item wise) are all once off to each time the game comes back. So there I guess you can say the REWARDS are “temporary” but the actual game comes and goes…..
I suggest doing all the lower lvl zones in the starting areas if you are clearing maps simply because it will help you level and be at the appropriate or above lvl for the higher maps when you reach them.
Also you will earn plenty of skill points from all the SP spots which will help you access the more powerful and elite skills faster than simply from pure level ups.
The exp for map complete does scale to your level too so again it’s well worth doing if you plan to clear up maps later on anyway.
Well I don’t think rewards are a bad thing. Especially in these kinds of games so I really have no idea what your beef is with.
Playing the game can indeed and SHOULD be fun just for doing so, however earning rewards on top of that is always a nice bonus. In these kinds of games building up wealth alongside of your character strength etc is usually all part of the fun of it. Again, rewards are NOT a bad thing.
I can and easily do play other games that don’t reward me in a reward type of system that gives shines. A good example is that I have always been a civilization fan and when I’m not playing GW2 there is a good chance I am playing civ5. There you build up your nation and can go to war with others to win the game or win in other ways. There is no shinies to earn as such but you do take their land/cash etc. The true reward however is playing the game to the best of your ability and winning by the strategy that you set and use.
I’m sure many people here still play the COD series as well as plenty of other games where you get no shines and have a blast.
Don’t go labelling us all as greedy shiny collectors and say it’s a bad thing. Because once again I say that is usually a big part of what makes THESE types of games fun. Start from nothing, build up your char, build up your wealth and then look back on it all and feel proud of what you have accomplished. What is so wrong with that?
You can’t compare an MMO with a shooter. You cant compare an MMO with civilization. In a shooter, you shoot things, maybe progress yourself a bit and thats about it. In civilization, you build up a civ and thats about it. In MMOs, its a much more complicated beast and yes there should be rewards in an MMO to keep players in the game because a developer will be constantly adding content to the game, and they need their players to be playing and spending money on the game.
With that said, now that we can effectively eliminate the comparison to COD and Civ, if all you play an MMO for is for shinies and loot, then thats your prerogative. But there is much more to a gaming experience than collecting loot and the sooner people realize it, the better off we will be. The better off a developer will be.
Just as an interesting observation: Look back prior to November 15th and prior to when the game began showering us with loot. The forums were much more positive in my opinion. Sure there were people complaining that there wasnt much to do. But I feel those people were less noisy than the complainers of today(myself :P). This forum was a much more pleasant place to be. Now, it is toxic. Noisy.
I think the reason for this is because we now have a sense of entitlement: “Well wheres my shiny?!!?” Instead of playing the game and simply having fun because its a video game.
“You can’t compare an MMO with a shooter. You cant compare an MMO with civilization.”
Actually yes I can when you are here telling us to play and enjoy this game in the EXACT same way people enjoy the types of games I have mentioned.
“With that said, now that we can effectively eliminate the comparison to COD and Civ, if all you play an MMO for is for shinies and loot, then thats your prerogative. Where did I say I play purely for loot? IF you knew me you would know this is far from the truth. I have 7 chars with world complete now, yes I did that for the loot (sarcasm). I probably play this game for fun more than anybody and in ways most people do not but I don’t come here and try to force that down everybody’s throats like you are.
I think you have taken the changes to the game recently backwards too. They have NOT been adding more rewards simply for the sake of it. If anything it was because people were complaining they were not rewarded for the playing they were doing. They simply just addressed that. Where have they added new game content purely JUST for the new rewards? They have gone back and updated OLD content with new rewards.
Bad idea, please just let it go already…..

since you mentioned specific areas, i wonder if the “not so secret” jumping puzzle is a specific afflicted area as well
Could well be. Anytime you are going up and away from enemies you usually have to go some distance to get away from them. A real pain in JP’s tbh.
There are certain areas in the game where I notice this to be REALLY bad. One good example is around the SW heart in the branded area in whatever map that is (shatterer map).
Hm, really? It’s in Blazeridge Steppes, and that’s exactly where I was when the issue I mentioned above happened. I didn’t realize it was a bug known to that area. Interesting.
Yeah I have world complete now on 7 chars and have seen this problem EVERY time in this exact area on every single one of those chars. I have sent in a bug report via the in game system so I expect it to be fixed in time. It’s just a matter of when is all.
I am not sure how it works but I always hoped/thought that it always included the castor as well as those needing the healing the most.
Anything else to me would either just be stupid or too random and relying on yet more RNG that is just not needed.
