Now, as for dying to low level mobs; you get downlevel on areas below your level, i have a fuly levelled ele with top notch gear and I sometimes die too.
Armor has very little say on defense, it is barely negligible, so dont bother about that. Also, eles and guardians have the lowest hp pool in the game, eles are in a really bad spot atm. All I can tell you is; keep playing, dont worry, you will get used to it, dont try to tank things or heal through them, Anet made sure those things dont exist in the game. Focus on killing stuff before it hits you too much.

This is not entirely true. All of my chars are what I call “survival” builds and I can kill things at an average rate while surviving long fights especially against groups and soloing champions even. What I would suggest for this couple is to try and build atleast 1 survival build out of the 2 chars, personally I would choose the Ele.
For a survival build you want the Toughness stat always on your gear and later down the road you probably want Toughness/Vitality. Also add runes that maximise the same stats as well as trinkets. With this setup you should survive a LOT more. You may notice you kill things slower but at lvl 65 this picks up a LOT because then you get access to Power gear along with Toughness etc.
Also it’s good you have noticed why you are dying – bombers who spam you across the map and hammer users who can constantly spam knock downs/backs. The worst part about knock down/back is not that you are down for a sec (or 5 in some cases) but that you lose access to your skills for a little bit longer due to the interrupts. In some cases this can cause perma non heals etc. What I suggest you do to counter this is to pay attention to what you are fighting and KITE these enemies. That is, use a ranged attack and move around them (circling) as best you can while avoiding their control skills.

No this champ is fine, I did it just 2 days ago on my Mesmer and had NO issues. Really it’s either find a group to help you take the champ out or do the “Secret way” as you put it which really does give you a nice small mission/challenge which tbh there should be more of in this game.
There was a similar case where in one of the maps where you had no option where you HAD to fight a champion Spider to get a skill point (in a cave somewhere on the west side of the map, I forget which map) where they DID change him to a vet. But in this case I think it was a good thing because 1, he was marked as a vet in the event info anyway so it must have just been an oversight and 2 like I said you HAD to fight him if no body had before you, there was no alternate path to the SP.
PS, My secret way to do this is to go up on the right hand side of the path and you can avoid ALL mobs and the champ and duck into a small little inlet/cave type area. pull the one mob to you and kill it while the Champ is down the steps, wait for the champ to come back up and then down again and then commune on the SP. I have done this solo on about 6 of my alts now I think and had no issues what so ever.

Lol sometimes your icon goes bald too for some odd reason and worse if you have 8 chars like me (1 of each class) the 8th is hidden off screen! I really want to see them ALL there on screen at the same time in their full glory!

I miss the cinematic feel we had in GW1 from starting/beating the “missions”…….
Here it just seems like we are all cardboard cut-outs talking to npc cardboard cut-outs and we are rewarded the very rarely odd time with a Gw1 style cutscene and at a few points in our personal story we have “comic book/anime” type scene.
Sometimes the “older ways” are just better, why oh why did they not do mission scenes like in GW1?

Oh I’m sure they will add more money sinks in future. At the moment what all this extra gold does for us is allow us to buy some of those more expensive skins that used to take a lot longer such as cutlture armours, order armours etc as well as you said things from the TP.
But you could see WITH all this extra loot they also brought in cash sinks via way of these new recipes being so expensive as well as the weps those guys in the pavilion sell. To me this shows they are planning ahead and I can bet soon we will be seeing a LOT more expensive items for sale…

You know you can just forget the world exploration and just farm like crazy and buy one of the tp. yeah more work but if u dont like world exploration u still have that option to get a legendary. Also world exploration isnt so bad if u use it to level up alts not just for the legendary. and its really easy too especially wvw. I found that to be the easiest because i did it slowly.
Or you can just farm like crazy from 0-1700g because considering everything, it is really the most time-efficient option for a Legendary. I think the point of this question though is achieving World Completion by itself, regardless of Legendary. Truth be told, this achievement is not really natural to exploration. And since there are only two kinds of people who will go through the trouble: those who collect achievements and those who are working for legendaries, it is really more of a chore than an achievement in this regard.
This is more so when you compare it to other achievements like Slayers, which comes more naturally.
I don’t know about that, even just having the maps open (which you can do easily enough from clearing maps, at a stretch just leave hearts alone) helps with a lot of other things. Such as fast teleports to places you need to be for guild missions etc, and with any future content they bring it’s always good to have all these maps open.

I’ve already done it once and find it painful to do it again. It’s such a boring chore. I would pay money to unlock all POI’s, vista’s and way-points with the exception of skill points. No rewards.
And frankly, I’m getting sick of seeing that being thrown around. Are we, as a community, so spoiled that we expect a shiny new toy every time we do something in the game?

Are you sure it was a bunny and not the Skritt Burglar? There is a chest that randomly spawns on most maps where a Skritt burglar (thief, whatever) jumps out and runs off. He throws loot all over and runs in a random pattern, killing him gives a few more loot items.

8 chars and 6 have world complete so far, my 7th just needs 2 more WvW maps which wont take long then I start on my 8th. 1 map a day is not so hard/boring to do and it’s not a bad way to lvl up fast-ish while learning your new class.
In fact once I’m done with my 8th char I might struggle to find things to do lol…

Actually there were a fair few good trailers for us, maybe you didn’t find them? Remember a lot of them were shown months, even years BEFORE game release. Perhaps you weren’t paying attention to the game then so you might have missed them?

I do display them but not typically how others might I guess. I try to give each of my char’s a title that suits their “story” or “char” I guess. For example for my Guardian I gave the combat medic, for my Mesmer (Sylvari) I gave the “Southsun Stalwart” as it kind of signifies he protects the southern areas. My Thief charr I gave “Master Carver” simply because of his massive claws and I kind of play him as an evil char lol.
So yeah that’s a few examples of mine. :P

I guess the only people who might like something like this would be those who farm Queensdale all day, and even then it would only be for conveniance. I certainly would not buy this, if it was the Tier 2 salvage quality kit I def would as I use those kits for white items.

Right now I have 3.2 mil karma because I gobbled up a stack of those karma jugs and other random karma items that I had sitting in the bank when the new wallet came and oh I have 7 alts as well of course so that helped. :P

Ummmmm, the champ loot update is for pve and that’s GOOD. I used to solo champs (and still do) just for the fun of it or to test myself to see if I can beat them (still a ton left to try on higher lvl maps). Now I can get some rewards for doing so.
Sadly I think this has caused events to be ignored more now as people will just go after the champs as theres more cash in it and of course the chance at the rare skins. Anet will have to fix this in some way, I hope they don’t just add the chests to events tho that would just not be the answer….

TBh any good game can have an addictive forum. I come here every day before and after logging in/out of the game. Fact is you actually learn things about the game from the forums so why not keep up to date by coming to the forums?

If anything I would say those telling you not to complete it should be banned for “EXPLOITING” the event. Go ahead COMPLETE any and all events you have a chance to, forget the greedy sods who try to EXPLOIT everything they can.

They are not instances as such, if anything they are more like “closed, open areas” if that makes sense.
I expect they are like this for various reasons such as:
1 – To have the area maps completion be viable.
2 – To give each area it’s own feel and in a way background story.
3 – Were worked on by different creation teams at the same time so the world could be made quicker (all at once) and then just added together.
4 – As someone else said to give us better chances of being on our home servers by splitting the areas up and sharing them around on different servers and such to help keep this a reality.
5 – To help us as the players know where and when we should be able to visit certain areas thanks to the maps/areas being level advised/based
I’m sure there’s tons of other reasons but all in all I prefer it like this. :P

I remember Anet always saying about 13 gig but this was many months ago, yet when I re-installed I only ever had to download an extra 10 gig, it didn’t add up…..
17 Gig sounds reasonable now with the extra updates since I last downloaded and re-installed.

Hmm I think it’s about 10-13 Gig, it might say 10% for you at 5 gig but trust me the last so and so % goes very fast and shoots the last bit of % right up.
Either way you should expect it to take a good few hours to download it all totally, depending on your connection type of course and other variables.

Yes but you have to be in close (600 range) and any aoe will hit at max 5 enemy players anyways. Plenty of other classes have better aoes due to the fact they have longer ranges. Also the Shortbow Thief AOE is VERY slow to fire/hit/detonate. I would rather just roll with skill 1 for more damage in the long run……
Cluster bomb used to be perfect before they nerfed it as you could hit people with it and stay stealthed. It was very low damage but was fun. :P

I only have to have my bottom ones pulled, since they came in on 45 degree angles. Not looking forward to it either way. Thankfully my top ones dont need it….they grew in, well horizontally. My dentist was shocked, cause he’s never seen it happen before.
When I had mine pulled I only had issues with 1 of them but they always recommend to pull them all if you can as it solves a lot of probs later on, or so they say. It’s usually also cheaper to have them all done at once rather than in separate cases. Anywho – enjoy the meds! :P

Why even have the “u” in there if you are not going to say it properly? I mean come on I’m sure you say “Taurus” (Torus) “the star sign” correctly when that has the “u” in the correct place, so why not Centaur as in “Centor”.

Pronouncing it as ‘Centar’ is just a matter of laziness really. As the ‘au’ has the same pronunciation as ‘aw’. We end up pronouncing the ‘aur’ as ‘are’ instead of ‘awr’.
The “May Lyssa” is another example. No NA’s don’t pronounce Melissa as Maylissa. We tend to pronounce it as Malissa. The thing is that in the game, they take a shortcut. The word “may” isn’t pronounced properly before they say lyssa and it sounds very close to (but not quite) Malissa which is more or less how we pronounce Melissa.
You could chalk it up to accent. Another example of a short cut in speach that is part of an accent is pronouncing ‘th’ as ‘d’. Common in the eastern provinces of Canada, notably in Newfoundland.

Yes I still use the compact view. I have tried having it all open but I just don’t like it. Probably because every time I bank or use a shop I like to have my inventory open so I can see everything that needs to be deposited/sold etc.
My system works well because in the first bag slot I have a 12 slot box that does not deposit, sell or move around anything in the inventory. For this box I keep all weps my char can use and any mini’s I may want them to have out. This box is PERFECT for this.
At the very bottom I have a 12 slot bag that only takes vendor trash. You know the “sell junk” type. Again this bag is perfect as I NEVER have to see this junk in my inventory and it makes looking through all of my other stuff really easy.
The 2 slots above my junk bag I have 2 20 slot boxes from fractals and the other slots above that I have random bags from events, the starting bag and random 12 slot bags I think. These 5 bags I can search through easily to find anything I’m looking for. I always sell all Blues and Greens I get anyway so I have no need to separate those or keep them sorted in any particular order.
When my bags start to get full I just send collectables to the bank and that usually clears up a lot of slots. If my bags are still too full no problems just hit a shop nearby and I’m sorted.
Total I think I have some 137 slots or so.

None of the offhand torches have slashing or stabbing moves.
Ranger Torch has a torch throw and an attack that uses the torch to light the ground on fire. Mesmer Torch has an attack where you disappear in a ring of flames and a Phantasm. Guardian Torch has an attack that surrounds your body in flames (and a chain that lets you throw the fire off as a fireball) and a fire breath attack.
Torches aren’t meant for stabbing and smacking enemies, so to me at least it would be odd to see them used for that. Which is why Torch is a good offhand-only weapon, it can be used for secondary attacks but not the typical attacks.
Different strokes and all that, though. That’s just my opinion, I know a lot of other people say screw realism and let me cut people with torches, its just a game.
Well who said anything about cutting? This would primarily be a burning type condition weapon. So they would have skills revolved around that. Anywho this was why I asked for suggestions from others.

10-20 years ago now lol…. I don’t mind picking up loot bags as it is.
2 – I agree those dam warrior banners are a pain in the backside, so too are any turrets if you are an engineer and you placed any. You want to pick up loot? Not before we make you pick up tour turret you don’t! This is probably the number 1 reason I DON’T use any turrets, well that and besides the fact they are just useless in any serious fight.

I wouldn’t want a “universal weapon” added to the game.
Once one shows up, I’d lose hope in ever getting unique weapons added to the game, because its MUCH easier to add universal weapons than class-specific ones.
Why add Spears with unique movesets for Guardian, Necro, and Ranger when you can just add a basic Spear for every class to use.
Even minus the “slippery slope” style argument, it’d feel cheap to have a universal weapon in a game which is built around the idea of every class using weapons in their own way. Using it would take away part of your professions’ identity, which I wouldn’t like much personally.
Using a torch as a mainhand weapon would seem kind of silly to me as well. I know there are torches in the game you can use to stab enemies already, but those are environmental weapons and typically not very effective. To me it would be silly to see someone running around slashing at enemies with a torch.
As for it needing to be a weapon to be less useless… meh. Its still more useful than many of the other non-gear rewards from events (like Marjory’s Journal) and maybe it’ll become more useful in the future as well.
I don’t see any issue with “universal weapons” or any such similar ideas being that we still have different utility skills and traits per the classes anyways. Besides I would not expect such weapon types to become too familiar or even really considered to be a serious choice as a weapon.
The point being of this thread was once I had equipped the torch and saw the 5 blank slots on the skill bar it just didn’t look right and thought there should be SOMETHING there and thus this idea was born.
Btw you really can’t say “to me it would be silly to see someone running around slashing at enemies with a torch” considering offhand torches probably DO have such skills already, maybe you just don’t see the animations happen because tbh offhand weapon animations are rather lacking from what I have seen so far…

Well should you be able to out do ppl who do not have alts? Think about it if they let every thing be hero bound as in event dailies etc.. then the game would move from the casual type of play to the more hardcore type of play. This is simply not what GW2 is about. Even when you look to other games most dailies are only one time per account most of the time any way.
People who have alt characters did NOT get them for free. They spent hours leveling each up, or spent gold (which took hours to farm) to level via crafting. Therefore, it is only fair that hard work gives better or more rewards. This should be an option available to those who feel they would like to play that way. Those who feel this is too much (i.e. those with one main) should just back off and not criticize others for the way they enjoy the game.
Right now, ANET is limiting the way players can play GW2 … and going against the promises they made in their manifesto. Simply unfair and bad business practice.
“hard work”? Here I was thinking I was having FUN playing on all my alts and learning their different play styles. Really, “hard work”? If that is how some people feel about having alts I would suggest to them that they reconsider having them tbh….. They also might want to ask themselves why they REALLY do have alts and what they really want from them and they should be honest with themselves.

TBH I think those that are always saying “anet hates alts” etc are just too greedy….
You WANT to be able to do content more than once a day and get the rewards more than once a day when solo char players can’t do this.
Yet you overlook the fact that if you complete the personal story on another alt you then get the reward for that and can have 2 weapons with the “pact” skins for your main if you want. Also all the karma and other rewards you get along the way (items to make more legendaries etc) can also be used on your main. Things like this you overlook.
Yes, yes you can say “but we would/could want those same things on the alts themselves”. This is true but as I said you ALSO get the bonus of having them on your main now don’t you? Where as solo char players don’t.
Don’t get me wrong I am an alt-aholic too as I have 8 chars covering every race and class, 6 of them have 100% map done too. I just think you guys want too MUCH out of alts. What’s wrong with just having an alt for variety in play styles? You get bored on one class 1 day you have the option to play on another for novelty. That right there should be your BONUS or reward for having alts. That and being able to switch in better classes for certain situations in WvW etc as well.

Don’t buy it now. Wait a few days. We’re dealing with the “final rest” syndrome now. Once the obsessed players get their hands on it, the price is going to fall quite a bit. It’s already fallen from 200g to 35g in less than 24 hours. These are going to be dropping forever, so just wait.
Makes sense and I should say they should in theory drop more often than Final Rest too being that the champs spawn a lot faster and can be killed a lot easier by solo players.
