I used to have it real bad from the launch until I found out what my problem was. I had it so bad I would DC 8-10+ times everyday and get told to do the “-repair” thing.

What was causing this? Bad ram. I ran that ramtest program and found a LOT of errors. Bought brand new ram sticks and have had maybe just a few dc’s in about 8 months now.

Look into testing your ram if you have added more or replaced any.

Well I guess I have learnt not to worry so much about those holes now more than you have lol. Having said that tho I am like you too and try to finish them ALL. But if I come up against some I see no real point in doing or the time/efforts would not be worth the pay off I just decide to over look them. Having said that I have 8k AP’s and have done all JP’s etc etc and a lot of the regular achievements.

I also have 6 chars with 100% world complete and my 7th close as well. So as you can see I do a lot of the normal stuff as well. Yet I gave up trying to do the mad king’s clock JP after about the 5th time because the way it was set up and latency issues (I’m in NZ so some things work against me in this game ) along with others . I know I failed to do it and yes it could annoy me and be thought of as a hole but I just don’t let it bother me.

I came from another game that was VERY grindy and I played that game for 11+ years and at 1 point was the 24th best player in the world and believe me that game demanded a LOT more from the players. I left that game wanting a change and yes EXACTLY what you are asking for. A breather, fun downtime and for me in GW2 I have found it. Perhaps I am just used to far more stresses in these kinds of games, I dunno really but tbh I really think it is a personal thing that we all individually have to come to terms with and find a way to deal with it all.

Relax, take a deep breath and as one of the quotes in this game goes “relax, you’ll live longer” lol. I mean no offense by saying all that but yeah I guess that’s all I have to say for now.

A good thing they have done with regards to the achievement’s lists now is to hide previous events and the parts of them you missed. So really you don’t have to worry about having “holes” in your lists because come next living story that list will be hidden from you (well the bits you missed/didn’t do anyway) so you really have nothing to worry about besides missing any mini’s, items and the AP’s of course.

Oh and also I can usually complete all or most (that I care to do) of any new living story within 1-2 days of the release. Granted I do have more time to play than most but in my view I think it is realistic for most to complete them in 1 week so that still should give 1 week of time to finish up other stuff. Right now all I need for this latest story is 1 more map for the 13 different maps and then I’m done. I am completing my personal story on one of my alts while I wait for the correct map to come up as well as doing other stuff (such as post here so much lol) so it is all do-able.

A lot of content is a good thing, it gives us variety of stuff to do in game. Besides that it means that it gives Anet something to do, because if they had nothing to do they would be without a job right? In fact they are HIRING more people to give us more content which means they are giving more people jobs – that’s a GOOD thing in today’s world.

What it comes down to for us personally is to decide which parts of the content we want to do and manage our lifestyles around that and those other icky parts of life we have to deal with. Don’t feel pressured, have fun! Remember it’s a game and games are meant for fun. This is not one of those other games where you have to be up to scratch with every other player to be on an even playing field or to just have fun.

Well nothing bad happened during the Super Adventure Box…

A princess got kidnapped. That’s something bad that happened.

@ OP if something good happened what would we do? Sing and dance around a campfire? Seriously though if you can come up with some scenario where something good happens and we can do something interesting, I wouldn’t be against it.

If something good happened we could go out and kill baddies to celebrate!

I agree with the OP here, there does NOT always have to be a “something bad happened” theme to insert new playable content.

Doesn’t that make us the bad guys though… I mean… we had something good happen… and we react with violence. For shame.

Ya’ll mother kittens need to find Dwayna.

Lol seriously it was a joke, and you can’t tell me you are not out there killing things regardless anyway. When was the last time you killed a poor defenceless ambient creature for daily or just because you felt like it? What about those poor Jotuns, Skritt and Grawl that you kill along the way just because they look slightly scary? Honestly all they are trying to do is live their lives.

Besides all that we ARE the bad guys, jut like the real world Humans are and have ALWAYS been the bad guys. Look at all the poor creatures from the animal kingdom we are killing off, look at the environment. It’s the same ingame. Those poor dragons were just sleeping and woke up, what did they discover? Humans (and other semi intelligent races) everywhere, ruining the world. Name one bad thing these dragons have done to us besides rise Orr? They have been awake 250 or so years and yet very LITTLE of the world has been effected (since their original awakening and that was just unfortunate), we still have our cities and areas of control yet we are so determined to WIPE THEM OUT.

Again Sir I say we ARE the bad guys.

Farmers would. They do everything that gets them to the target quickly. In post I was replying to there was a case scenario of what would happen if the most rewarding content was map completion. Ergo farmers would race to finish maps which meant skipping all dynamic events. Even though there are multiple maps of the same level tat would probably mean theyd be underleveled at some point.

In your case did you skip DE?

I would skip DE’s where I knew I would have no chance of completing or it would take too long, mostly however I would do events that I came across. If these farmers wanted world complete they would HAVE TO do all the lower maps so they would not be under levelled for Orr.

I have suggested in another post a while ago something similar like this too. Basically they let us right NOW continue to do some of the things we did when we did the hearts yet we get no reward for it. Why not reward us in some way so that we can use these parts of the maps to do something WHILE we wait for that nearby event to kick off?

Thats a fair point and it makes sense. Just dont think it would work as a magnet for players if events fail to be that.

That being said if hearts were repeatable there is a downside where players might neglect DE in favor of Hearts just cause Hearts are on demand content.

I would not expect repeatable hearts rewards to be anything too great. Perhaps if you fill the bar again you get a small karma reward or a loot bag containing a chance at fine mats of the tier quality of the map you are in or some other such. Either way the reward would not be anything better than any event nearby. We know right now that Anet are working on the rewards for events and I expect them to be in line with champ rewards so that could also help bring people back to other maps.

Personally I would not care if these maps were flooded or not with other players if they did let us get rewards again for doing the heart objectives. I would just be happy that I could go back to these maps again and get enjoyment out of them and the areas and also get some reward befitting it. I know I would not be the only one with this frame of mind either.

I do realise that no matter what ANet does there would simply not be enough players on any one server (world) at any one time to fully expand out and cover all the maps to have a more lively population there. However having SOME incentives no matter how big or small to go back to ANY of these maps would be a good thing in my mind to help try and encourage that.

Right now the ONLY reason to go back to specific maps is like I said for the specific Fine Mats for the different crafting tiers. Since Anet really does not like that people farm monsters and yet this is how you get these items they should really consider tieing that with the future event rewards to help balance the books so to speak. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. THEN they can come up with other ways to entice people back to these maps for the FUN of it.

Funny really when the people who accused us of this WERE the ones wanting to risk it all just to farm the champs/etc because THEY wanted more personal loot right there and then.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paulytnz.7619

In most cases I have seen in these invasions the commanders are working well together. I play on Ehmry Bay tho and we have some pretty good commanders here.

It’s not too often I see more than 1 commander turn up to these events unless they were close beforehand at another nearby event or help is called for.

Basically if commanders do NOT go to events where another tag is at and if people turn up to any event that has a lot of players regardless and use their initiative to move on for the greater good, there really is no problem.

Also a MAJOR part of being a commander is keeping those lines of communication OPEN at all times. Call out when you need help, ask how many people are at/needed at certain events, call out bugged events etc!

The commander tags are a 2 way street and both commanders and non commanders need to use the tags correctly. Now it’s obvious how commanders should use them, non commanders it’s like I said you need to use your initiative in a lot of the cases especially so in WvW. And again that communication is important, non commanders too, if you see an enemy zerg heading in the direction of your zerg let them know!

Everyone needs to take responsibility here. Commanders need to stop tagging up just for the heck of it and stand around in LA all day to show off (yes I see this on my server, a certain 1 or 2 commanders in the same exact spot every time I go to LA every day!) and non commanders need to stop dis respecting ALL commanders in general be it because they are jealous they don’t have a tag yet or because they have indeed seen bad commanders doing silly things.

It’s all common sense really (shrugs)…

Honestly I’ve done enough running around mindlessly farm grinding things over and over that I’m pretty fed up it, and I didn’t even farm that much compared to most. You guys go enjoy your farming I won’t take part in it.

Just a random OPEN WORLD suggestion. You could make all those already added heart quest redo-able with some reward system in place. This might promote OPEN WORLD play and it would work well with doing daily achievements . Although I wouldn’t make this a daily thing per say, something that can be done daily but it would stay on record until you complete it, you know for those busy players who may not have the time to spend doing it in one sitting. My idea would be if you started it previously and finished it on a different day then you could start another and finish it also the same day. That way players can catch up if they really wanted to. Anyway I would make it only register 2 completions per day for finishing a semi-complete one and a new one. This would prevent it from being farmable. Oh, and perhaps some NPC in Lion’s Arch would give you a random big list of hearts to complete but you only have to complete a certain amount for the reward. Perhaps even make it build up to a monthly goal with a cool reward too?

You want to redo some mostly boring hearts when you have tons of cool dynamic events you can do on a map? You honestly think if dynamic events failed to attract people to the open world hearts will?

I have suggested in another post a while ago something similar like this too. Basically they let us right NOW continue to do some of the things we did when we did the hearts yet we get no reward for it. Because nothing would work!

what could they do, make events in queensdale give you 10s to make up for the frequency of events in Orr and scaling? if queensdale reward exactly the same amount that Orr rewarded exactly the same do you think that will fix the problem? Nope, they’d just move and farm queensdale because now everything rewards equally but queensdale is fastest and safest cause mobs there are super easy.

You cannot address this problem cause the problem isnt the content you’re providing its that people are not interested in content they’re just interested in reward. Nothing you do will change that.

Can you think of any solution that will make people who all they want is the biggest reward possible in the least amount of time possible play all over the map? cause what arenanet are doing is essentially the only think i can personally think of.

You completely missed my point. As I said earlier, MAP COMPLETION as a best risk/time vs reward would solve “farming in certain spots” problem easily.
It’s nice to read the post you are criticizing first…

I did read your post, you didnt say make map completion the most rewarding activity, you said make it give decent rewards. But anyhow lets go with map completion being the most rewarding activity in the game by far.

What would happen there? if the reward happens just once account wide you’ll get the farms going through the camp completion checklist, skipping most of the content in the map (IE no dynamic events cause that doesnt factor in the map completion) finish them all and move to the most profitable farming spot.

If its per character, the same thing would happen only you’d have people deleting and recreating alts. Great you’ll see many people running around the map but few of them would actually stop and play with you. Also its really hard to do dungeons now because well its quicker and more profitable to complete a zone. Also you’ll have lots of complaining from players who arent getting enough XP to level up their alts as they complete zones and how ridiculously difficult it is to have map completion on Orr at level 50-60. Thats not to mention how bored people will be going for their 10,20th or 100th map completion. Also you’ll get complains that mains are useless in this game, nothing to do once you finish all zones.

If you make it recurring, Ie once you finish map completion you can do it again. People will keep doing vistas, hearts, skill points, pois in queensdale or some zone where its quick and easy to finish off a map.

Honestly dont think this would solve anything.

Unless they skip lower lvl maps this should NOT happen. I have 6 chars with 100% world complete now and by the time I have done about the 18-20th map they are always 80 (there are 25 maps total to complete not counting the WvW, city or Whispers base maps).

From what I understand Dynamic Events, Mini Dungeons and Jump Puzzles are next on their list (or soon-ish) to get reward bumps like World bosses/champs did. If they will be good enough to entice people away from World Bosses/Champ farming however we will have to wait and see.

Where did you read that? that would be very good news!

Currently we have about 25-ish maps with hearts. They could dedicate one map to a certain day of the month and for that day have special events that play on that particular map and offer bonus rewards for DE’s, Dungeons etc completed on that map. What this would/could do is have each and every day pushing people to a specific part of the world where everyone replays that particular map and could rediscover each unique area all over again and of course it will help new players to complete these maps.

That also would be an excellent idea – to gratify way more that usual certain activities on (that particular day) given map. At very least it would make it way easier and much more pleasant for the new players to play on that particular map. The only downside of it that I may think of is that most probably chosen map will get flooded with people, that’s why I would be leaning towards “spread them out” solution.

I read Colin saying about the Rewards for JP’s, Mini Dungeons etc being boosted on some post, sorry I’m not sure what post but he said it.

Sorry, but you are repeatedly insisting that people who buy the commander tag do it to help out the community when the truth is, it’s more of a status symbol nowadays.

I’ve heard the hilarious stories of people trying to help out the commanders and then suddenly the commander tries to turn the server against that one person for whatever reason, haha.

Having a commander tag does not mean you should automatically be nice to them, and they should be treated the same as everyone else.

Some buy it for status, others buy it for other reasons. Surely you are not stupid enough to believe that EVERYONE is all the same are you? If so wow, just wow and no not that other game…..

Treated the same as everyone else – having a commander tag is not an automatic “be nice to them because they spent 100 gold gained via whatever means”. You treat people the way you treat everyone else.

Note I did not mention how “everyone” should be treated. Personally, I treat them the way I would want to be treated in a MMO game, which is the “golden rule” – one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself. Also the “silver rule” – one should not treat others in ways that one would not like to be treated.

I’m not a fan of the belief “Whoever has the gold, makes the rules.”

I agree with everything you said in this reply, however I also go by the mindset of “give people the benefit of the doubt and do not judge all on the actions of others”

That’s all I was saying. You know another way to look at is this way, respect is earned not granted/given, but also so too is disrespect if you think about it.

Cutscenes for missions used to be bad and living story etc NPC chatter. It was distorted or faded off depending on where my char was standing to the NPC’s, now no matter where I am located to them I can hear it all!

Thank you, I can finally feel fully involved in the game!

I just tested this in my settings. I always had it turned on to see other players, I turned off and right away it removed all players names, I turned it back on and again I can see them all. I would suggest you send in a bug report as it is probably tied in with specific settings that is causing this problem for you. I would send in a screenshot of all your settings too to really help them find out where the problem is.

How does ArenaNet want GW2 to be played?

From what I understand Dynamic Events, Mini Dungeons and Jump Puzzles are next on their list (or soon-ish) to get reward bumps like World bosses/champs did. If they will be good enough to entice people away from World Bosses/Champ farming however we will have to wait and see.

As for increasing rewards for heart/map/world completes I agree it would be nice and could spread people about again. But tbh it does not take too long to complete any map and once you have you move on to the next and once world complete is even completed again a lot of people don’t/wont go back to most of those zones for various reasons.

I speak from experience on that, currently I have 6 chars with 100% world complete, 1 more char only needing 2 WvW maps and then I start all over again on my last char. I rarely go back to many of these maps unless:

1 – I want to TRUELY explore them “my way” that is explore every nook and cranny. Noting all chests that can be looted, Champs and trying to solo them to see which I can kill by myself. (I have been doing this well before champ loot fixes)

2 – For dailies.
3 – And now just recently I am going back to farm lower lvl Fine mats and locate the best places for each tier. This I am doing because I not only want 400 (soon 500) in all crafting skills but I am working on unlocking ALL of their recipes so that (in my mind) I have truly mastered a craft.

Having said all that I am not sure that even if Anet DID give better rewards for map/heart/world completes that once it was done people would go back to these maps.

I have not bothered myself to think up ways they could get people to go back to each specific map I haven’t thought about it that much. Well I did have one idea but I haven’t bothered to post it on suggestions lol. But I agree with you, they do need to give reasons/incentives (besides particular tier lvl mats because honestly that’s truly really the ONLY reason right now) to go back to re-explore/enjoy maps again. I do however think they are aware of this thus the coming reward boosts to JP’s, Mini Dungeons and DE’s as a good start.

Just for my own laziness purposes with not wanting to bother trying the suggestions forums I’ll give a quick semi idea here for something they could do.

Small quick example:

Date of Month//Map

1 – Queensdale
2 – Wayfarer Foothills
3 – Plains of Ashford

and every other day from 4-30/31 of each and every month.

Something like that could work, PLEASE do not send my part of this thread to the suggestions forum lol.

I would just like to say 1st of all THANK YOU for this change. I have a lot of bank space but I would pile these items up to use all in 1 big bang when I could with karma boosts. This change helps me not to worry about that anymore which will in the long run save bank space and that whole repeating process. Now I can drink as I get them and clear up my inv space!

Secondly a bigger THANK YOU for seeing the oversight that came about due to how this was implemented and for trying to figure out a way to come good on that! All is forgiven, well from me anyways lol.

Right click and find the source of the sender, no doubt it’s from China……Delete/ignore.

The last one I got was from France with a relay in South Africa and associated with a domain registered with a registrar in Australia. -_-

Lol, still hardly USA where Anet are located tho now is it?

I soloed a champ (Shiverpeaks map, Centaur Champ NW corner in a centaur camp) in a lvl 15-25 area yesterday and got not chest/loot either. I do think that there may be some out there that are bugged in some way.

Oh I’m sure they will add more money sinks in future.

Gold sinks like that are a very bad way to deal with the issues the OP mentioned. It’s better to increase the supply of other things and reduce the influx of gold, than to increase the influx of gold but also increase the demand of gold.

Like I said, added goldsinks like I spoke of WITH increasing supply/ways of gaining things that we need/want WITHOUT having to rely on the HARDCORE gamer/farmer helps to keep the value of gold in check.

I think it’s far, far, far too early to be worried about inflation right now because of the new champion loot. Think about it, along with the extra pure gold we are getting from these champs we are ALSO getting more mats which were always some of the most in demand things on the TP, so they have thought it through somewhat and are adding more ways to bring in the things we want/need without having to PAY those hardcore farmers.

Oh I’m sure they will add more money sinks in future. At the moment what all this extra gold does for us is allow us to buy some of those more expensive skins that used to take a lot longer such as cutlture armours, order armours etc as well as you said things from the TP.

But you could see WITH all this extra loot they also brought in cash sinks via way of these new recipes being so expensive as well as the weps those guys in the pavilion sell. To me this shows they are planning ahead and I can bet soon we will be seeing a LOT more expensive items for sale…

You’re not thinking large picture. What happens to the people who don’t farm hardcore? The gold is there to be made, but only by those with the time or inclination to make it. Meanwhile, the rest of the community’s gold becomes relatively worthless.

I’m in agreement with TC. Rewarding us with skins or mats should have been the approach. This lets money be moved from player to player without introducing new money into the economy faster than it can be destroyed. Inflation in an MMO with mix of hardcore and casual players is something the developers should take every caution to avoid.

The only way one players gold can become “worthless” as you put it is if they are actually trading with other players. Most things in this game can be gotten without trading with other players. Like I said it’s good we can make gold slightly easier now (especially the non hardcore player) as it makes it easier to purchase things that will ALWAYS stay at the same prices (such as from NPCS).

As to extra cash or too much cash being in the game, it’s like I said Anet will add more gold sinks as they see appropriate and it WILL help to remove the gold FROM the game.

Doing this while also making sure that anything new that is added to the game that the majority of players will want/need such as skins, weapons, armour, crafting mats being able to be gained by ourselves without HAVING to rely on other players can and will help to keep the value of gold at an even level.

Confusion about the game...

Oh also I would like to give basic tips about the creatures you are fighting:

Veteran – pay extra attention, these have a lot more HP and if they have skills such as “summons” be extra careful and ALWAYS make sure to kill the vet and not what they send at you.

Champion – Be extra, extra careful if it’s just you and your wife. Some are a lot stronger than others but unless you are familiar with each certain one, consider them to be “group monsters” to kill. Wait for help or try your luck to see if you can take them.

Pay attention to mob names such as Veteran and Champion, it’s basic tips but from reading from your OP it sounded like you perhaps didn’t know the differences between the types and their strengths.
