i can’t believe you all settle for roman numerals over icons.

icons will be much easier to remember than roman numerals!

Maybe it’s because all of my ingame char’s are named Paultynz to Paulytnz x (all 10 of them) since we can’t use numbers ingame. (Shrugs) blame Anet lol.

Besides like I said they help us to remember which tiers they belong to.

Are you serious?

I bought the executoners and lost so much it wasn’t funny. The ONLY skill you have that is worth anything is skill 3.

Skill 1 is VERY slow and the cooldown it states is far off the mark.
Skill 2 you NEVER hit your target all it does is make you run past them and swing your weapon.
Skill 4, yes it is flee but again it is USELESS as it then makes YOU run in some direction and swing your weapon again. NEVER after your target so it’s as useless as skill 2.
Skill 5 – summon a skeleton familiar, they should just say summon a minipet is that’s all it is, it does NOTHING.

I was fighting some guy in a Mad Kings Set and he constantly had me fleeing and stun locked and I was VERY lucky if I could even hit him with the skill 3. That’s all this set offers, 1 skill with a big aoe and THAT’S it.

PS – here’s a tip for any Engi’s out there who face these flee spammers – equip your elixir gun to your utility bar, the f-key skill interrupts/cures your char fleeing!

I take this as a good sign the game is doing fine if this is all that we are talking about these days lol.

I prefer the numbers too because it’s easier to remember the tiers of the traits with them. Example 1-6 is tier 1, 7-10 is Tier 2 and lastly is tier 3 with 11 and 12.

For my engi I use a tier 1 and 2 tier 2 skills to cover my 3 choices in 1 of my trait lines. if you remove these numbers it would be a mess to remember which tiers they all belong to.

I just bought the Executioner’s and I have to say in costume brawls it seems crap. Skill 2 never hits even if you have your target selected, you just run past them. Skill 4 makes all flee and then you run off forward usually away from all enemies. What’s the point of that? Again it wont make you chase and hit your enemy, a totally useless skill. Also the skeleton familiar seems to do NOTHING but stand there.

I was fighting someone in the Mad King’s set and he did nothing but stun lock me or make me flee I had no chance. The only thing I can hit people with is skill 3 and that just becomes spam fest, yay…

So can we now rate them all not only by looks but also by usability?

I don’t understand you tbh. You say you prefer to walk everywhere to see the scenery and make the world feel bigger etc. Yet you say you hated doing world complete a second time? That makes no sense.

Yet I too don’t fully like the waypoint system, I think I would be a lot happier if they were shrines like in GW1 where you only transport to the nearest one if and when you die. Perhaps having just ONE actual waypoint per map that we could fast travel to from other maps would be a better option? I don’t know tbh. Especially since the maps are so dead; it can make it hard to get help completing events, etc if people can’t travel to the exact area that fast.

I think the damage is done and is too late to change it now.

I think the whole point of this is NOT to farm them up. The whole point of it was to get rid of all the EXTRA candy and bags from last year. Of course this is of no use to anyone that was not here last year or who really wants these items but that’s my thought process on all of this…….

-shrug- all I can hope to try for is the mini and even then I’m not sure it’s worth trying for…

Oh, this explains why I feel punished for being new. Phew, that free trial week lead me to feeling bad for being a new player! I am forced out of experiencing new content via holiday items!

Thanks ANet! The best holiday of the year, and the coolest looking in terms of game content, has swiftly kicked me in the balls for being the new kid in the room…kittens.

I feel sorry for you man. If all this looks like a giant task for me who has been playing since the start of the game and with some cash tucked away. I can only imagine how horrid and sad it is for any new players.

Think of it this way. Last year they brought items into the game that you can’t get now unless you spend a lot of cash in real life. However they did bring in new items, still for cash in real life but not just as much. That is what is intended for new players.

I was here last year when Halloween came and they offered new costumes (to fight in) as well as these weapons through RNG via BLTC chests. I had to seriously decide then and there if I wanted to spend more real life cash to try my luck at getting these items or to straight up buy the costumes. At that point I decided no because the game was still new(ish) and I had spent a ton already on all bank slot upgrades, bag slot upgrades and enough extra char slots to have all 8 classes (all again with full bag slot upgrades). I thought to myself “this game is still new, I have spent so much already I am not sure I want to invest so much so soon incase it all turns to crud, I’ll wait until next year”. That was my mistake….

Simple solution here. Make a new Mesmer, buy a helmet off the TP (white or blue) transmute the mask onto the helmet with a transmute stone. This will then become account bound for you to use another stone onto your helm your real Mesmer uses.

Good luck.

PS I managed to get an Engi backpack onto my guardian doing this, not many people can since it’s a back item!

I’d have to agree with a general sense that this is to push us to buy gems. Just the other day in LA map chat a person said they’ve bought 10k+ gems with in game gold. Yet, I’ve actually bought over 10k gems with cash and still feel well behind the wealth curve. Inflation in this game is being promoted too. Maybe all of this is to make us feel pressured into buying gems.

All I know for sure is, even with using the birthday boost and having near 200% MF, my drops weren’t that great in the Labyrinth.

I have also noticed that bag drops both in and out of the maze are a lot worse than last year too. Also I am sure we got a lot more candy in the bags last year than we do now.

45g worth of corn cobs for a 20-slot box which would cost you about 10g.

400g worth of nougats for the RECIPE for a 250g staff.

First of all, unless someone was expecting the price of those materials to crash to nothingness, what were they thinking? If they do in fact crash to basically being worth nothing, then what did they expect people to do the events for? Fun running zerging around a bland and empty maze?

Second of all, why isn’t there achievements for the minigame or the clocktower?

They were there last year, I guess they didn’t want to repeat them for some reason. I can understand the clocktower, sooooo many people complained last year because they could not do that achievement….

I think you overlook the fact that Anet EXPECTS us to res during some boss fights. This allows them to give the bosses 1 hit mechanics (or close enough to it depending on armour worn) to make them “seem” powerful. So it becomes like a game of musical chairs. Can we res all of our teammates in time and get their HP back up before he downs the next etc….

Removing the res option this far into the game would only make it a complete mess….

Edit:

Ok I admit I wrote this before getting more than 75% of the way through the OP so,

“PS: Please note that I am talking about the resurrections of completely dead players here, not “downed” players.”

So how much damage does “reflection”? I don’t think it will reflect the whole damage. Would be pretty imba if you did a critical hit and have high dps build and got all of that completely reflected.

No it does not work this way but in theory it should, sort of. It’s small amounts of damage based on the defenders power I think. basically if you do a lot of fast attacks against the defender with retaliation you can seriously hurt yourself to the point of killing yourself if not careful.

It’s great vs berserker fast attack foes such as thieves. :P

PS, you did mean retaliation right and not reflection? Because that’s different…

^ There is no killsteal in GW2.

What if say………You run to hit a mob but BANG before you get to it some random berserker 1 hits it before you manage to hit it? This CAN happen in starter zones, go try lmao….

That is sort of “kill stealing”. Why do you thnk Anet put such large HP’s on mobs, to try and prevent this sort of thing. In other zones it works, but starter zones for example not so much.

I know I know, no decent (respected) berserker user would be playing around in Queensdale right? After all they are all running dungeons and champ farming in Frostforge or running fractals or something right?

Point is, Berserkers and it’s mindset brings problems, and probs Anet were trying to avoid in the first place.

Possible solution:

Remove base stats from gears, have it all come down to what we are using in runes. This is how it is in sPvP, perhaps it should be used everywhere else as well?

This would make it far easier for Anet to balance the game as well. By that I mean set difficulty levels of bosses, dungeons etc.

Hog wash. I go to starter zones to finish my daily everyday. I’m sorry you can’t run fast enough to tag the mob before I kill it. Maybe wait 5 minutes for me to leave then you can kill them by your lonesome.

Actually when I’m just playing around myself in berserker gear (which I only just started doing to see exactly what the difference is) I am seeing this myself. I use flamethrower and can use the number 2 skill to 1 hit groups before others get a chance to run at them. So yeah I have no problem with this, but I can just imagine those poor new people to the game who are not lvl 80 yet running around in full gear with berserkers being able to do this….

Still, my first statement I stand by, to those who say things like: “if you are not in berserkers you are hurting your party” I say: “if you are in berserkers you are nothing but greedy trying to get all the kills before everyone else gets a chance to tag while I’m trying to stay alive and keep you alive as well!”.

Take it however you want I really don’t care.

Well I’m looking forward to helping in getting this “living world” up and running and in more ways than just the living stories too. But I am a little bit interested by what they mean with “living worlds”.

Are they meaning that just for this game or are they meaning of branching out with this idea for other games perhaps? If just this game how could that be? We know of the main world as Tyria, Cantha etc. Does this mean that world will be added onto as a true, global (round planet) world like our own. Or does it mean through other realms such as SAB? I have the 1st 3 unlimited tools on my main and these 2 looked great for my second char. Once he gets the axe as well I may start playing him more often. A lot of the time I disregard playing on my alts because my main has the unlimited tools. However if they keep pumping out these variations I will feel more tempted to play them more often.

Not only do they need to offer a better selection of items but a lot of them need to be corrected. For example they offer incorrect water weapon skins and many of them offer the wrong skins for the armour sets for the areas when it comes to medium armours. Ranger:

Rifle. At the moment we all know (if you don’t you should be ashamed) that Engi’s play with rifles like a shotgun so that’s short to mid range. Warrior seems to have a slow shooting rifle with mid to long range. What I envision for the ranger with access to the rifle would be the equivalent of a sniper. That’s right, very long range with accurate high damage, bring on the pain baby! Rangers are and should be the long range specialist class so to me this is the obvious choice for them to be the sniper-ish class.

Yes, because we need to give rangers even more incentive to max range every encounter and not stack with the rest of the group.

So you are saying that because there are some bad team players out there that we should exclude things from incoming to the game because it will only make that situation worse?

Ummm, no I think a better solution there would be to ask said bad players to get with the programme or simply to not expect everyone to “stack” to “kill da boss” because it’s the most efficient way to speed run the dungeon.

Actually hold on there, I see what you did, you derailed my thread! No sir, I will have none of that, please stay on topic.

Well that’s purely an opinion of course. On the other hand I for one think that things such as the LFG tool, finally deserved rewards for killing champs, MF spread across all chars and not gear involved as well as many other things that have been added are a few good examples of where my opinion is contrary to yours. But again it’s only an opinion, my opinion.

Those are systems, not content. While they can certainly make the game that exists better, they can’t really change standing dynamics in the game.

They are still content and besides the person I was replying to did not give his definition of “content”. My point is still valid, we are getting quality additions to the game in these updates.

If you want me to give examples of what your definition of content is, sure here goes:

1 – Scarlett Invasions are still on going.

2 – So too are some of the minigames that have been added since release, you can play these whenever and even do so to help you complete your daily.

That’s 2 that I can think of off the top of my head. Not bad considering they have said that this year is about polishing. Take that into account with the other things I have mentioned (as well as not) and it all still being free, no one can say we are getting a bad deal here.

If you don’t like that Anet has items available for a limited time you should not buy gems.
Anet is now using gems for their main income (Not expansions like in gW1) this means that they use marketing techniques to try and get people to buy gems. Making stuff temporary might seem as not working (because you can’t buy it anymore) but in fact is a marketing technique based on creating a sense or urgency. They will just put a similar items in at a later time. It makes the game worse but it works to generate more income.

So if you don’t like those sort of thinks (and there are many in GW2.. for example the fact that gold out rules everything else is also related to that) you need to understand where they come from. Thats the fact that they focus on the cash-shop. Then you also know what you can do about it. Not buying gems in this case.

If course they need to make money but they can do that with expansions like they did in GW1.

I think they can do it with both expansions as well as the gem store as well as not having to rely on limited timed items.

Let’s be honest here, how many people buy things because they are limited to a certain time limit? I guess that would depend on the actual content, but even then I see no reason that people wouldn’t buy things without that “urgency” hanging over their head.

Good examples of course are the unlimited gathering tools. Any new player given the chance to see these items available and how much of a boon it would be to have one would simply buy it for its use. I don’t believe people ONLY buy things because they believe they will be special because they have things other players never will be able to get again. I think that line of thinking is old fashioned and belongs to other games…..or in the least apply to only certain things like minis…..

Indeed I think there are some items where it makes no sense at all. But overall it does work. It is a marketing trick that has proven itself over many years so by thinking it would not really work that well you go against years and years of proof for companies that it does work.

The sense of urgency it not based on the idea that they want it because other people will not be able to get it anymore. That might help as well (wen trying to create a ‘unique’ char but then it does not fit items like mini’s) but for sure it’s not the only reason and it’s not the reason behind temporay items.. It’s really the urgency. I never gave that reason so I am not sure why you are telling me thats not a why people buy something.. I never said that it was.

I don’t want Anet to focus on all, they should focus on expansion. They might till have the gem-store to get income but that should be more extra while expansions have the focus because only then we get rid of the bad side-effects.

No I wasn’t implying you were saying/meaning about the “I have to get that nao because it will make me special!” thing. Lol I just get the feeling (especially from other games and seeing it there) that that is EXACTLY the reason why some people like to buy limited timed items and I don’t know, that kind of thing just seems shallow to me.

Bringing in a steady stream of cosmetics as well as fun things would easily keep that cash flow coming in for them if done right. I just don’t see the need for things such as the gathering tools and such to be time limited.

After all variety can be a factor for people buying things too. Meaning a new player might join the game in a years time and see 4-5 different versions of an unlimited gathering tool and might decide to just collect them all and use on different alts. Buy time limiting these ones already past, they are shooting themselves in the foot for lack of a better term.

Imo I think sword would be too obvious as well as stereotypical of magic users (think magic swords and Gandalf here). So for my choice I am going to go with…..

Ele:

Axe. Eles are fast moving (well they should be since they don’t have all that heavy armour weighing them down) beings who can manipulate the elements and summon weapons to do their bidding.

For me I don’t know, just the thought of using an axe and switching to the air element (which imo is typically the worst of elements currently for current weapons) and creating a swirling storm of cyclone axes to hurl at your enemy would be cool. Not to mention getting in close with your axe (possibly even axes) and slicing and dicing for finally some melee looking damage for these beings.

Now that would be my ideal Ele just for a start, remember they get 12 (that’s right!) skills per weapon (for main, 8 for offhand) due to all the elements, the possibilities here are almost endless.

I’m ready to buy an expansion.

I’m ready to keep on getting mini expansions for free!

Mini-expansions with content that either makes the original game worse or brings nothing of notice…

Lol keep the feedback coming guys.

Necro:

Hammer. Why? Why not! Necro’s are all about death (summoning dead things) and dark magic. I don’t know about anyone else but when I think of warhammers all I can think of is death, slow but painfully an ender. Necro’s also need another 2 handed weapon, 1 is not enough!

Skills could be the typical bash em up aoe type. Another thing Necro’s need is more Aoe and a melee version would be welcome. There could also be a “squish Minion” skill as part of this not only for variety but as punishment for your minions for not working hard enough as will as to send an example to your other minions! What benefit would you get from “squishing” your minion? Well, something deathly of course, I would think Anet could think up something awesome. :P

Thief:

Torch. Thieves seem to be all about stealth, deception and traps. I would like to take the traps part up a bit for them via the main weapon. For this I will steal the idea that I used for Mesmer (pun intended since it’s fitting ):P

That being them being able to use a current off hand only weapon as a main*. Torch, this would be cool to focus on traps of the fire based type. Also I would think it would be cool for them to be able to double wield torches. For offhand I imagine they could be the ultimate anti- Stealth force. Buy this I mean their offhand skills could focus on detecting other stealth based enemies and perhaps even traps.

Only 2 classes left to go…..

(*) – If you are like me and starting to see a pattern here with regards to offhand weapons being useable as main hands just look at it this way – it could make those currently painful weapon master achievements for off hands much more bearable (ulterior motive exposed!?).

Engineer:

Mace. It’s pretty common knowledge that any weapon that comes for Engi will be a melee one. The most obvious choice to me right now seems to be the mace. It just suits us (I main an Engi). Tbh what I want this to bring to the table would be expertise in destroying siege and non moving (alive) targets such as dredge cannons etc.

You forgot hammer

Baby steps man, that can also come in time lol. Feel free to post your ideas for the hammer. What I did forget to put down was mace also as an offhand weapon. We Engi’s need more choices for off hands so the mace again can also be another choice there.

Mesmer:

Shield, Pistol. Mesmers can already use pistols for an offhand, so it seems fitting they should also be able to as a main hand. As for skills, maybe just some brunt physical force. I know that Mesmers are meant to be all about mind control and turning the enemy’s mind against them. But it seems to me they need SOME form of physical expertise as well. So that tied in with my next part being the shield could work there.

For shield I am thinking they could use it as a main hand. I know people have asked for this before for the Engi. I think for Memser it could be great as a pure defensive main weapon (in theory) while dishing out the enemy’s OWN weapons against them. Think of it as them hiding behind a shield with some defense while they concentrate to use the enemy’s own weapons against them. Why main hand and not offhand? It would give Anet 3 skills to play with while also making it a first (unique) for an offhand to be a main hand weapon.

As for skills, phantom duplicates of the enemy’s own weapons and variations of the skills/tricks those weapons can do.

Ranger:

Yes! I’ve always wondered why Rangers can’t use rifles. When I started my first toon, a ranger, I envisioned her as pretty much being a ninja sniper with a herd of animals at command. Sneaking around, picking enemies off before they knew what hit them. Of course, I had to change that vision as I actually started playing the game. 0.o

Let’s make it happen! Perhaps another one of the rifle skills could be to have our pet stealth us camo style through their stripes. You inspired that idea lol.

So it has been said before that they will probably give the current classes access to some of the current weapons before they bring in any new weapons to the game. This I don’t mind and am even looking forward to.

So I thought I would make this post to say what I would like per class and a brief in some of the skills/bonuses they could bring. Feel free to add your own, I look forward to reading them!

Ranger:

Tbh what I want this to bring to the table would be expertise in destroying siege and non moving (alive) targets such as dredge cannons etc.

Guardian:

Longbow. It’s high time that these guys (and gals ) got a decent long range weapon. I think the longbow would be the perfect choice. As for skills etc, perhaps they can go the road of anti-protect or protection by-passing since Guardians have so much knowledge of protecting themselves. I’m thinking armour piercing shots, damage that gets through blocks!

Warrior:

Staff. Warrior already has access to a lot of the weapons and seem to be able to do decent with any of them. Just for fun I would like to see them using “sticks” to whack people around, think Bo’s in a martial artist type of way.

Well that’s all I have for now, I’ll come up with more when I think them out. :P

PS, please do not move this thread to “suggestions” I am not trying to offer ideas as such here. Just putting down ideas that I would like as well as get some feedback from others. I want this to be more a discussion thread rather than 1 person offering a simple suggestion.

Ummmm just buy 1600 gems (800 each), they will come in time…….

Reading comprehension for the win. You are right though. I just don’t feel comfortable dishing out real life cash for something that hasn’t even been promissed. I know it’s not much money.

I read and comprehended, ignorance is bliss you know?
They have not and will not promise them but it’s good for their continued bank balance to keep adding new versions of these unlimited tools. I have the original 3 on my main, any new versions look good for my alts for example.

Okay call me a noob but what exactly is “Po”? And don’t tell me a Tellitubby!

I’ve seen po before. It’s Spanish or Italian for gold.

Okay……I was thinking he was meaning “Per Order”. Which made me think why not just put “each”? 2 extra letters isn’t really that much to type!

Why the heck would he use Spanish/Italian tho?

Which servers actively farm Orr Champs?

Paulytnz.7619

I think my method of farming champs (solo) in Orr is pretty good. The only problem with it is you get zero karma. Anywho I think I should let yall know now how it can be done.

1 – Get a char up to the lvl 76 quests and prepare to farm.
2 – Choose “The Ossurary” quest.
3 – Start, kill the 3 champs and their 3 noob adds.
4 – Leave the instance and repeat.

Depending on your build this can take anything from 5-8 mins to kill 3 champs. You always get gilded coffers and unlike farming Orr/Frostgorge/Queensdale you have NO WP fees to bother paying.

5 – Enjoy. :P

PS you also get a lot of Heavy Moldy bags.

PPS, going with friends or a party increases the amount of adds. It does not really make the run take any longer but does give you more moldy bags as well as faster kill times of the champs I think.
