So you can run into your home now and farm 9 and you will not seek out the last one ore/wood/plant? Hmm that’sounds lazy (sorry to be honest)

You need only pass 1 ore in an appropriate area. When your doing WBs, of doing a dungeon run you should see one already.

Grind = the REQUIREMENT to REPEAT content over and over and over again to get NECCESARY equipent to proceed the game.

This game has no grinds unless you selfimpose them.

Ascneded armor is NOT neccesary.
Legendaries are not neccesary,
Skins are not neccesary.

I’ll give you the other two, but ascended armor IS necessary if you want to have the best stats the game has to offer. Would you be content being stuck at level 79 forever? By your logic it’s not necessary.

I haven’t been bringing this up because every time I do it derails the thread, but five years ago ArenaNet said that they did not intend a grind for ascended armor, and just last month Colin reiterated that they still hold to that. So whether it is or isn’t necessary, the fact that acquiring it is a grind conflicts with ArenaNet’s stated intentions.

Necessity is not defined by the player, it’s defined by what is necessary from a game mechanics. Here is why … that perception of necessary could also be used to justify why Anet should just mail me a full set of anything I want —- which would be ridiculous.

The necessity for this game is rare armor and trinkets for all PvE, WvW, Dungeons and so on above lvl 39 and is viable until 79. Below lvl 30 they will be downscaled.

The necessity for this game is exotic armor and trinkets for all PvE, WvW, Dungeons and so on above lvl 68. and is viable on 80 Below lvl 65 they will be downscaled.

The necessity for this game is ascended armor and trinkets for all
-Level 10+ Fractals (where the infusion slot actually matters, though you can get 5 AR by making a lvl 78 slot exotic as well, unlocking until 19….)
-Level 39+ Fractals (where the WEAPON infusion slots actually matter), and
-Level 49+ Fractals (where the ARMOR infusion slots actually matter), and
-Elite WvW (where the infusion slots actually matter)
-lvl 80 Dungeons (CoE, HotW, Arah) (where the additional 70 stat points could be usefull, but prohibitively expensive (8 defensive slots requiring omi infusions, 6 others requiring normal infusions (together about 1000 gold for best in slot for an almost insignificant amount of dmg , certainly if downscaled.)
-lvl 80 Map content (including cursed shore, ssouthsun cove, dry top and Silverwastes).
Below lvl 80 they will be downscaled, including infusions..

I can see the logics for PvE to earn the trinkets, or to buy ascneded weapons,
but the armor has most value in WvW. There is no actual content which benefits from 5% armor boost which will be downscaled in 90% of all content except maybe lvl 40+ fractals….

Until new infusions are available and the gamefocus shifts towards ascneded armor, this game is non grindy.

Also forcing yourself to make a character then fitting it with ascneded armor, weapns and trinkets is unneccesary as a starter, you wil not play high level fractals as you need to do 49 levels of fractals and earn your infusions and trinkets, You need to level 230 levels in WvW before gaining basic effectiveness (in this case 100 power/condi and 250 vitality)…. Untill you have those things you might have ascneded gear but actually playing the content will make you stronger faster.

So why grind instead of playing the game and earn things as you go along, and freeing yourself from the illusion you need to work the game to get max stuff instantly. There is not much eft when you have it. Yes doing the content on top tier gear nice. But if you were fanatic enough to leave content for what it was to get BIS, you wil also not be bothered to do content you do not need your precious BIS gear for, denying yourself 90% of the present game?

You can craft armor or buy it for 10-12 gold, get it through karma or wvw points, dungeon tokens.. same for weapons…. Trinkets you can earn by logging in. logging in for 56 days gives you 2 ascneded ringes and an amulet…. for Free….

Nothing gamebreaking requires the repeditive return to content if you do not want to. -NOTHING-!

You wil stay lvl 80 forever. The only thing which is interesting is your own appearance.

And selfimpoing your needs for something will make it feel like a grind if you cannot think of other things…. but it still isn’t required to proceed in the game.

As it requires Artificer to make and I do not see the point of leveling artificer for all of my 15 characters… They are perfet for full runs. In some dungeons they’ll last me 2 full runs even.

In the end this game is limited by the max no of cores used and max core speed.. not by your GPU

An I5 on 5 ghz will outperform your I7 at 4.0 anyday mostly because your processors main feature being hyperthreading isn’t used as you want maximum performance from the cores you’re using which obviously doesn’t include sharing 2 threads on 1 core. The fact most i5’s are faster per core makes them better at gaming then i&‘s as most games stilll use mono or dual thread program structures. If they’d split up Gw2 in 4 or more threads the game whould recieve a HUGE buff..

And the 980 is overkill I have 2 780’s so a bit more power, but it’s capable of rendering 3840*2160 at 60 FPS if needed at max settings ignorig all reflections and vsync, but including supersample… Just so you know.

Lol If you really want it you can get it by just doing the Sw events if I’m right, ttey are available from the vendor for 10 gold and 1000 crests. So you should be able to get them.

And unless you really want to run glass condi you will have little or no use for it otherwise. and if you do not know I’d suggest you craft the easy available exotics first OR try for the rampagers sets. They are 10 % less effective in conditiuon dmg but give the same power.

I have all sinister trinnkets unlocked at the vendor except for the ‘verata seared ring’
They become available at the vendor after completing the LS parts 5,6,7,8 respectively.

I do not know why I cannot buy VSR at the laurel vendor though….

But there are more things which are quite illogical…

I had a complete freeze today, Well it wasn’t my first hang (most hangs are from other sources

Complete unresponsiveness to all keys, but gw2.exe was seemingly still running, Audio still playing in loop. I had my fair share of audio bugs before so. It could be the audiodriver, I tend to ignore those… I had audio crash before hanging Gw2.exe or just getting stuck in an infinite loop of static/ music or other sounds

But I expect a memory leak, not a virus tbh… To much stuff has been bad already this patch This could be one as well. I run 32Gb of ram, but as Gw2 can only adress it’sown little 4Gb block… I’m gonna keep an eye out for this…. I suppose It could be this classic thread destroyer…

Oh and the higher graphics requirement due to the new camera system taxes my GPU’s quite a bit more and makes them 70 celsius instead of 62… (air, not water), they were 24 hour tested and later 72 hour and suffered no hitch, though a lot of options haven’t been checked could be a dustbridge underneath the huge nvidia coolers…

Generally I would seek the problem with my rig, but the Beta graphics could easily be the culprits…. I really dislike the beta release in a ongoning system and the apperant instability dereiving from it…

There was no reason whatsoever to crash though the video could be a direct reason, as the graphics were hanging , but the audio wasn’t could hear jumps but view was gone.

Running Win 7 Ultimate
On an i7 3930K @3.8Ghz, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 32 Gb Ram, 2 GTX 780 in SLi, most recent driver.

On the Side:
Really hope they release a multithread application instead of keeping the present 2 thread game, allowing the game to scale over 4 threads or more threads would be very nice.

I like the new camera bug, I know it’s limitations and requirements, but zooming out and being able to see siege and attacking on walls makes Gw2 more dynamic. I can still stay alive when pew pewing down, though siege which cannot be defended through shields dies instant. Classes attacking on the walls are limited and skils as well. The game hasn’trt gotten any worse, except for the loss of ~20 FPS (used to run 160 withour others, 120-135 with spawns, 80 with allies and 18 in Blob vs blob with 2 high end graphics cards (2 times Nvidia GTX 780 SLi)..

Now I notice having 140, 110, 68 and 16 respectively which is a 15% drop. which is significant, but noit crating an unplayable game. Extending field of view though on highest view require me to tone down character limit or the client tends to freeze.

Adding to it

I’d prefer max height of camera not being at the height of my norn her bellybutton, but at eye level. I understand this could be difficult but it’s based directly on the character creation options IMHO…

But for birthday booster you need to have hold your CHARCACTER for 365 days, celebration boosters drop monthly though…
They stack durations birthday booster 24 hrs, celebration booster 1hr, And add to the above list.

Unnecessary Invisible Walls

well I really do not mind goating, It can be nice running to the edge of the world and somtimes there are beautiful areas , above Arah dungeon is a beautiful area… Been there 2 or 3 times and: they nerfed it… Some devs actually did thier best to make a beautiful part outside the world, but noone is allowed to look at it….

The walls should be placed on theoutsides of maps, so you cannot enter neighbouring areas without spawns, but not to kick down explorers. In PvE there generally is no gain unless you go under a map. I’d suggest making invisible maps underneath the map instead of on top. We get to adventure and explore.
People used to stand above TA dungeon previously, but it’s not possible anymore…

We’ re heroes trying to exlore a world, A-Net makes this world smaller and smaller.

ranger's pet passive broke

It is the main reason why rangers were shunned and kicked out of dungeons during the first year of the game. The fact this returned is a HUGE problem.

It means you have a ranged carrying character which would be perfect for pulling and it cannot pull……. due to the fact it’s BUGGED. also when fighting somethig at 1500 range selfbuffing with pets is FUBARred beyond imagination

Agree, I also disabled camera shaking instantly I was moving , It’s the firt time I got mtion sickness after I purposely stopped playing FPS, simulators and racers…. I hate FP-play to such a degree I returned games, or just threw ‘m away. toggling makes a difference I hope it’ll stay okay. The idiotic zooming and moving of the camera causes probles with lighting on screen as well causing problems due to my photo sensitive epilepsy, In cases I had problems with all flashes (read overdosis of particle effects) I tried to move the camera so could avoid this, I do not understand the camera at present but I do not manage anymore to avoid this.

Can we not get a checkbox for the CLASSIC CAMERA BEHAVIOUR?

I cannot play with this set, I dislike the camera, do not care for thee world completion being “easier”, I play necro anyways in WvW so I coudn’t care about stability
I do not care for the dmg nerf on low scale , it is useless as well, and I REALLY HATE ALL THE STUPID BUGS!

Maybe a full rollback would be better.

Pew Pew Damage Nerfed?

Please don’t take offense to what I am about to say, I’m not trying to be mean or in any way trying to troll.

There is literally nothing in queensdale that should be able to kill you. You need to take the time to learn each of your skills, when to use them, when to dodge and/or evade.

The majority of pve players in this game simply spam their skills as soon as they go off cool down instead of using them when they are needed. This is why so many people complain about point blank shot.

Your sword, dagger, shortbow, and great sword all have evades built into them. You also have traits and utilities that grant vigor for extra dodges. Pay attention to the skills your enemy is using and learn what skills you need to dodge or evade.

Standing behind a bear and pew pewing only works in open world pve and against terrible players in WvW/pvp. If you ever plan to run dungeons, fractals, or be of any use in a WvW/pvp, you need to learn how to play the class effectively.

In WvW it works wonders pew pew-in when you have a zerg in front of you instead of the bear, keep it on a leash so you can remove your own conditions.

Oh and in queensdale you find CM ungeon, it tends to kill people very effectively…. just for pun

Performance issues in WvW after Update

So WvW will shift to melee attackers and Ranged AOE spam battles… Interestingly enough we had a nice try out.

Showing us 30 ranged can withstand a full map blob now… Just CC’ing them into oblivion. melee comes corruption, then statics, the massive MS by as many ele’s as have it of CD..
Until the map blob pulled back the melees and we wound up in ranged combat, Which was compensated for by focussing using 4 rangers to a single target LR assasination detail covered by 1 WoR guard. LB pew pews focus fired and killed 1 every 6 seconds… artrition battle ensued. interesting build for ranger, soldiers armor zerk other pew pew build with 1500 range spec, choose wether you want more on target or you want piercing arrows…

I love the change, necro’s suffer the least IMHOas they were used to play stability less anyways…

I read before: “the cap for statpoint has been lowered for AC”. this probaly also affect scaling and mos likely includes food. The reduction of caps is a hardcounter vs full DPS asscended fully traited zerker groups in low level dungeons meant for lvl 35/45/55 rare armor wearing people without traits.

The result will likely be you’re capped at lvl 35/45/55 based stats (rares) and you feel like your ‘wet-noodling’ AC/CM/TA…. But as most groups could run AC killing everything but spider and Kohler in seconds….(we had a >5 sec kill on the ghosteater 3 days ago with a 3 ele, 1 banner/phalanx warrior and a guard…)stacked, banners up, we pulled it 3 MS’es went up, 3 firestorms 3 lavafonts, it was set on fire an all opened up on Icebows, but they didn’t hit cause it was dead way before the channel ended…

5 ppl dungeon sets,2 sharps, 3 ghost slaying, food, fury,25 stacks, full zerk. Insta B( )( )M

Guess to prevent this they nerfed dmg output by 10-15% so it will now be a >6 sec kill….

To stay consistent it has been introduced to the world as well…. (My best guess)

Black and White are generally the most wanted colors. And there is 400 dyes to choose from if you wanrt a colorful armor but there is 1 whitest and 1 blackest

(well light armor will retain the blackest (being Midnight Ice) as the new dye is not the blackest on light armor anyways.,)

It will matter ever so slightly on heavy armors, mostly in the highlights. but if you’re willing to shed out 151+ gold you could get one.

IF you want to buy any shade of black htese ones are definately more dark then the more common midnight range. And for some part way cheaper. (as it stands now)

But people have spammed the orders already casually overbidding people with 10 or even 40 gold the idiocy is eneourmous. Why not overbid by 1 copper and keep prices at a normal level, cause you made intoductory prices about 1500-2000 gold from start now instead of 40-70 If people are willing to buy a dye so bad they want to just order fro 150+ gold… GG

You created the hype of the most expensive duye ver, waiting for the dye to go 1500+ gold…

Comeone people just buy the BL dye pack and pay for your legendary with 3 or 4 lucky drops..

For previous of the 10 new black shades search in BLTP for shadow and dye and removed the “only show available” selection criterium. Let the bidding begin.

unholy savnctuary not triggering at 1 HP, I die each time when I get into a squesze, while it should save my skin,,, no activations seen yet,

People, why are you complaining?

Ascended was added for those player begging to be allowed to farm for something other then exotic armor, as the exotic armor was WAY TO EASY TO GET in their opinion.

So A-Net was generous and added a extreme farm above Endgame level (Exotic) armor so they could farm their time away. This new armor Ascneded was unusable, or at least not affecting gameplay anyways in 80-85% of the content, which created content for the grinders, pleasing them and leaving the people nagging for a special armor with something to do.

Now after 1.5 years after this new Ascended armor was introduced, new people are nagging getting end game armor (= now to be ascneded in their view) and it’s so expensive….. completely forgetting why ascended was introduced in the first place.

For comparison
Exotic = end game armor, creating it costs 400 crafting and 20 gold or 254k karma or 1320 dungeon tokens for a set, or you buy it on BLTP, cheaply
Ascneded = armor for tier 50 fractals, for Dedicated WVW and for people who need the farm to feel usefull. Requires 30 laurels and 18 gold for the recipes (if you’re lucky)
and 370-525 gold to make. ( well if you want keepers heavy ascended armor you pay 2000 gold for the recipe’s so…) itt is timegated, and the armor pieces need to be crafted and are account bound. Requirinmg a huge investment in both crafting level time and resources. As was requested by the original grinders.

If you look at present meta:
Dmg = King, you kill stuff and survive trough zerk power in PvE
For WvW armor is an important part of your setup and ascended armor is usefull indeed, as you’ll notice the 5% in zerg vs zerg,
In fractals you could be needing the additional infusion slots.

Armor:
Armor adds 2% stats compared over full ascended and your dmg is affected maybe 1% (doubt so tbh with armor)… For 5% added armor , (which is effectively an illusion, as you play for active defence anyways. If you got hit you made a Boo-Boo…..) it’s effectively a waste of time and resources atm.

Weapon:
If you look at the main part of dmg you’ll see the better part of you dmg gain comes from the weapon, it gives +5% dmg flat in weapon dmg. and 1% stat increase…
generally ascneded weapons run 35-45 gold.

Trinkets:
And your trinkets give you the same stat bonus (if not a bit more compared to armor) but for some time inbvestment and 15 gold, ( vs 375-525 gold for the armor…)

Conclusion:
Only usefull things people should go for are ascneded trinkets and ascneded weapons.

Cause you -need- ascended?

Well… In My Opinion: No you do not. unless you are going to do level 49+ fractals or elite level wvw on high tier servers…

The actual gain on Ascended dungeon runs is noticable in lvl 80 dungeon (Arah, COE and HotW and Fractals) and in the PvE world uses for ascended armor are limited to cursed shore, southsun cove, dry top and silverwastes and small parts of malchor’s leap and frostgorge sound…. This is maybe 10-15% of the present world, and when considering the downscaling also 10-15% of the “end game content” (Lol like there should be endgame, you are playing to play not to stop Endgame is laughable. )

MIND 1 THING: HoT will be lvl 80. Ascneded WILL be more usefull there. Introduction of new infusions has been anounced, and they’ll only fit ASCENDED gear (But atm moment we cannot foresee if we should make zerk or something else…)

I think a-net would do their playerbase a favor by making damask ask for less silk to make the weaving thread, if they’s ask for 50 silk… That would be a huge improvemnt.

Also decent ways to get wool, cotton and linen would be very appreciated…

But I do not see why we should make ascneded armors changeable, I expect legendary armor in -A- future, but not instantly.. which woiuld have changeable stats… But when It gets there I expect I maybe have ascneded for my mains already.

You never buy WVW armor… as it cannot be salvaged.. When the meta shifts you can only press destroy… I only buy siege and traps, and craft my own metal.

Question about nice looking armour

Some armors are BLTP
Some are Karma (vendors scattered)
Some are Crafted.
Some are race bound.
Some are Dungeon armors.

And most beautiful setups are mix and match…

Pure BLTP armors = very nice but you are not unique…
BLTP outfits = nice but you are not unique…

ome backpacks are no longer unlockable, some are but for a price. either in actions or in cash.

Oh and ascneded weapons are account bound. for someone with 27k+ AP you should know Malediktus.

The pet as a mechanic is way better then it was on start,
it’s more responsive,
doesn’t pull aggro anymore unless you command it to,
you can have it run with you on non aggressive the whole time choosing when to use it and just pressing f2 for its skill on your stack the f1 to attack.

People who cause bad pulls due to the pet running in when they want to pull are noobs.
Those who cannot think of pressing f3 to call back the pet doubly so. Hope they never buy a dog.
For ranger at present:
Since the precision seems to have dropped to 40% at Minor stats (used to be 50%) spotter traits is very welcome, with S/A it can do decent dmg, keep up poison to prevent heals,reflect missiles, has a practical heal skill (AOE with condi remove and water field)
Pet can help providing a boon of choice. vulnerability through the LB and piercing arrows, opening shot(s) and whirling axe can be 32 stacks combined…. so manage it well.

Stow will work on invisibility skips.

Hey guys

I suggest that Arena lower the base healing of all skills, and instead increase the scaling of healing power, right now you have no use of building support for dungeons because everyone already has enough.
Another thing could be to add a stat that controls the strength of other support skills like aegis, retaliation, swiftness, might and defence.

I feel like this game needs a little bit of a buff to support oriented players

Support is measured by the utility skills, weapon skills and traits you have equipped and it’s quite powerful in the game.

Support oriented players can Support just fine now. So you want to limit the gear choice of those Support players by making a new trait for boons and increasing Healing Power, so a Support oriented player won’t be able to Support with any gear he wants but will have to get Cleric gear (and use that specific trait) essentially limiting his gear choice a LOT.

What would this accomplish exactly other than limiting variety and choice for those exact players you want to help?

He actually has a point scaling shoul be better. If we had damage scale like healing we’d all run zerk but would be hitting like wet soggy overcooked noodles in the rain…
Imagine HB GS dmg modifiers all be like 0.125 of power. with a power of 1400 max (175 bonus)….. instead of 0.66 with a power of 3750 max… (2500 bonus)

I also agree with above poster, if you manage well you do not havee ttake any damage to heal… -NONE- I’ve ran dungeons above 90% ALL of the time…..100% kohler in AC tends to be nasty but if you dodge well you should be good as well… Feel free to replace Kohler by Alpha.

Maybe Anet should swap out power and healing next April Fool’s…
We would be alive at world bosses but take an hour to kill them….
While they’re at it they could change precison for toughness and
condition dmg/ferocity for vitality… Wet noodle mayhem…

Even the healing builds provided had basically to focus on piling as much bonuses (food, runes, sigils) and the few traits/skills that would make use of healing power to make such builds even minimally useful.

Yeah well It I traited for full DPS it wouldn’t be a healing build now would it?

But that basically means that unless you use some very specific build, healing power isn’t worth of being used. Especially since you’re greatly diminishing your dps in doing so.

Shifting from zerker to zealot on armor and weapon loses you ~40% crit dmg, so you’ll end up with ~170% crit dmg vs ~210 , for full Zealot it would be 155 vs 210%
If you are running a normal build U shouldbe at 50% crit chance losing nothing for half the attacks and losing 20% dps on the other half for a 10% dps loss on normal fights, While under the efects of fury you’re losing noting on 30% and 20% on 70% of the attacks in the end leaving you with 14% less DPS for ~1000 healing power (on ele or on necro)
Of course shifting from zerker to zealot completely will lose you a bit more as zealot ascneded trinkts do not exist, and you will need to default to exotics…

( Calculations not counting runes/ sigils/ food, which could add ~0-50% additional DPS depending on usage, when using a non bloodlust stacking sigil, or non dungeon specifics, non night non force and so on. optimim combo from runes and sigils would be 46.5%, healing build will do considerably less but will be vastly more utility based.)
And mostly because unlike offensive stats, there are very few skills that use healing power to any avail. And, as noticed above, with low scaling factors.

I can agree when people say that making base healings low and scale H.Power higher would make such a stat basically required, and should be avoided (albeit, i would still see well some tweakings on that regard, and some healing skill revised for the specific purpose of making them work really well with healing power). The only other way to make it more useful, then, is to increase the ways healing power is used. Either giving bonus effects that scale purely with healing power (and thus with little to no base values) or giving it additional uses.

Healing power affects water fields if you blast ’m yourself, affects regen, affects ressing, and affects healing skills and gear… and last of all vampiric traits/abilities. (life leach)

I would avoid making it work with either precision and/or ferocity, though, cause it would end in the same exponential issue that makes zerker so efficient compared to other stat combinations (and thus make those healings far too powerful).

Which would leave a lot of semi bunker options in the blue ad destroy uses for shaman, magi and aphothecary (are there uses for those anyways in the present game?) and clerics and nomads which are the main bunker heal runes atm…. Even sigil of water was modded to “on hit” to make it synergize with mace on clerics guardian….

Concluding :
zealot instead of zerk for a dps build would add decent healing losing 15% dps, but the need for a diferent trait setup, other runes, food and sigils destroys the DPS, or at least hampers i,. especially in a buffed speedrun party (50+% dps loss), but in normal dungeons and the open world where things are more free it will lose less then 20%…. leaving it very viable for open world, l80 and l80 EXP runs and carrying newbs/noobs.

For clerics or nomads.. Well clerics has a fringe use in open world / WVW (EotM) but you’ll need enough dps to tag. Nomads in open world dungeons is a pure troll build…. which has no other use then being part of a dedicated self sustain build in very hostile environments where DPS can be handed down to others. (WvW commanding)

I would want to see the condi cap removed, allowing for variation in tyhe world, introduce some 5000+ toughness bosses and unsettle the present meta.

As this change would be changing the meta there would be a new optimum and therefore more variation. If we’d get a whole dungeon full of husks and earth elementals now, without any updates to the conditions sysem it would be utterly frustrating…

But I can see the options it presents….

Only think actually able to defeat zerk is a functioning conditions system without the dumb cap @ 25 so we can add super toughness (~5000-6000 toughness), relatively low HP Dungeon-/ world- bosses, champions and other spawns which would -melt- under DOT so the meta would shift.

actually the necro builds combining conditions and healing power are an interesting niche as well… espcially with toughness as third stat
