Ascended gear grind is OTT ridiculous

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’ll be blunt.

Getting ascended trinkets/rings/amulets is relatively cheap and fast. 2 week/s trinket, low additional cost, 20 tokens from fractals, if you do the fractal dailies about 2 weeks, the amulets and rings can be bought discount in wvw, as long as you have some tokens.

getting ascended weapons is realtively easy, most materials are obtainabel during normal gameplay, or the gold cost is ~40-60 gold (excluding recipe’s (10 laurels))

getting ascended armor is very timeconsuming due to the neverending timegate on damask, the huge pool of silk and the cost of the recipe’s (35 laurels) 900 gold for full armor, a bit less on medium and heavy

getting ascended backitems is VERY costly for a small increase in stats, but often ofset due to the skins. often about 150-350 gold…

Ascended trinkets are nice giving a subtle stat boost
Ascended weapons are nice giving an instant 5% dmg boost, and a subtle stat boost
Ascended armor is nice but the armor value added doen’t justify the cost, the statboost is subtle and the only remaining beneifit is agony resist.
Ascended backs are not worth it other then providing some agony resist.

I have 1 character in full ascended, including as secondary ascended armor
I have 2 characters with 1 ascended armor piece
I have 9 characters with ascended weapon(s) some have ALL some have only 1 or 2.
(dps war, hybrid war , dps ele, support ele, condi mesmer, support necro, tank guard, dps guard, dps ranger,
I have 12 characters with ascneded trinkets (generally including the backpack. (9 OR 10 oF12)) characters often cary 2 or more sets even.
all except 2 rangers and a necro

This is what I tend to run in wvw, the armor is a choice, it also works with zerk and soldiers, but as the buil tends to synergize with healing power and toughness…

It will stay alive in the melee train when based on pvt, clerics and tbh even when running zerk or zealots, problem of the build is lack of stability but when having ad in party you will synergise as well… runes are a choice I run dwayna, but of the pack will create more offensive capability,

Well I’ve heard no mentioning concerning dungeons and their respective drops.

Zealots (Keeper’s)(power/precision/healing power) is based on sprockets, and they cost quite a lot, but aren’t timegated, and just for sale at the BLTP

Celestial (Wup-Wup)(all stats) is fully dependant on Charged quartz crystals, which are account bound and timegated. So not available at the BLTP, the base material for charged quartz crystals , being quartz crystals are available at the BLTP.

Nomads (Ventari)(toughness/vitality/healing power) is dependant on ambrite sheets and not timegated, the ambrite should be avaialble on the BLTP

Sinister (Vearata)(condition damage/power/precision) is dependant on charged ambrite and timegated due to the charged quartz crystals, but the charged ambrite are for sale at the BLTP as they are not account bound.

Neither the celestial, zealot, nomads or sinister insignias and inscriptions are available on the TP, All being account bound.
Nor are the Wup-Wup, Keeper, Ventari or Verata insignias and inscriptions.

However the armor and weapon recipe’s are available on the trading post for all stats listed above, as are the Celestial, Zealot’s and keepers insignia and inscription recipe’s.
The other recipe’s are available from the Master Craftman (Wup-Wup) or from drytop and silverwastes gameplay (Nomads/Sinister and Keeper and Verata’s Insignia & Inscriptions)

Be aware though that Keeper’s recipe’s are EXTREMELY expensive (for a full set of ascended zealot’s heavy ARMOR you should expect to pay as much as a legendary! (2300 gold for the recipe’s and 400-600 gold for the armor itself))

Soldier gear - good or useless?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Soldier gear tends to be the way for max power builds, meaning the maximum amount of damage done without crits. this due to the scaling of power through sharpening stones, and in some cases traits (warrior/necromancer)

Zerker tends to be the way for max DPS builds, the maximum damage of damage done.

For all events where you just need maximum dmg without crits (read tequatl and some other world bosses) soldiers is perfect. Also is of great use in (pro-)long(-ed) battles and WvW (and in some cases: fractals) tends to be nice in battles where enemy can weaken you (as you cannot crit while weakened)

For all events where pure DPS , NOT survivability is wanted: go zerk, (read: dungeons, pve, living story, fractals) places where this doens’t belong: WvW, world bosses, combat with high numbers of enemies with high amount of armor/hp

The fact you can do so doesn’t change the fact overclocking voids the warrantee.

If you buy a nice gaming set, and you modify the settings and move to even higher frequencies then previously tested and you fry a part, you can have liftime guarantee on it, but you will pay for your components. An OC-ed videocard (Eg all specials with “non-stock” coolers from any firm (ASUS,EVGA, MSI, GiGaByte and so on) is nice but it’s running within a set of so called “overclocked” limits, if you take to the overclocking tool and truly clock it up more -> bye bye warantee. It’s your choice, and if you’re lucky you can reset the values (when having a second card for example) when it smokes, if not you will pay the whole amount for a new one!

Most gaming motherboards also warn you: you are voiding warantees… most in the book, some in the bios. Intel delivers CPU’s with unlocked modifiers but when you overclock them it’s your choice, when you go over the Turbo frequency it’s your gamble all the way. Amd no different.

Only way to avoid it is a true all-risk insurance and even then I’d watch the fine print…

If I’m right you can buy for a true all risk guarantee on alienware systems, but you’ll pay a rediculous markup (IMHO). They used to be already 500-800 euro’s more expensive then the actual value of parts. excluding the warantee…

Trying to RMA a videocard which has burned it’s memory controller, memory or GPU is difficult….. DIMM’s tend to be a lot less problematic, and most CPU’s will cause the system to shutdown instantly and without warning the moment it goes beyond the temperature treshold, but when it’s burned have fun shopping. I doubt any store owner will help you and RMA will prove futile, also in this case: memory controllers tend to die first and as they are an integral part of CPU’s nowadays…

Also it can happen once….. but the second time you have a serious problem…

Lastly you can fry the voltage regulator on th motherboard… It shouldn’t happen though, but it is possible, most high end gaming boards have a heatsink on it or even a fan. If this blows you might actually have a chance getting a new Mobo, mostly because motherboard producers are trying to show they are better then the competition, but again if your system is truly melted… GG.

PC specs to max out gw2 with no lag

well 75vs75vs75 also leaves my computer game lagged and I’m able to press 1,1,1,1,1,1 but at high(est)/highest…

The server cannot handle the load, and the pc can, so I see everything, beautiful, but laggy.. I remain at 15-20 FPS when half my guild has freezes and skips or just dc’s mostly the dc-ing ppl use wireless.. or low baandwith connections (I’m at 90/9 Mbps) which isn’t very extreme…

Old rule: network games are as fast as the slowest client… and though most connections are sufficient, you’ll notice slow connecting clients, wireless clients and low end computers having problems…

Of course this should be mitigated as there are people nowadays using 1350,1500, 1650 and 1800 Mbps wireless connections… which tend to be better then a lo of older material, (draft-n single (150Mbps), g (54 Mbps) should both be considered obsolete, draft N will have decent range but speeds drop off quite fast at range, g is used by my 70+ yr old father to read his email and check a youtube-movie, preloaded or watch an internet page, not for gaming )

I have a 1 Gbit wired connection. but the internetconnections ismy bottleneck, I notice lag spikes when my wife pcks up the phone/tablet or other devices using Wifi, It cannot be helped, but ALL devices deteriorate bandwith. In my house we have 2 phones, 2 tablets, 1 wired printer, 2 wired PC’s and 1 standalone on wireless if I/We need it… we phased out the laptop.

Keep in mind all those high end networks are bottlenecked by the internet connection, people with 100 Mbit full duplex glass fiber are lucky (not to mention the few with actual gbit connections)

The draft n and the g networks however, bottleneck the internet connection… and therefore I consider them obsolete.

I’d advise against overclocking if you are not familiar with the risks. OC-ing voids warrantee and can cause catastrophic failure to main system components.
(never had it happen though)

Overclocking means you’ll have to invest in better cooling, better and stable PSU (overclocking uses more power, which tends to cause more heat), you might want to invest in better GPU cooling and you’ll tend to want to invest in more stable memory modules, if possible with better clock.
(= more expensive)

It will need to be tuned, and the room where it’s in needsa to have a stable temperature.
(can’t choose it…)

There are other solutions though, being water cooling and freezers, both tend to have advantages regarding cooling on fans, but both introduce water in the system.
Water can be a liability. (either due to chance of leaks (with custom water coolers) or due to condensation (badly insulated freezers). )
(well expensive and really really expensive, also when fail => system dies if you’re unlucky)

The investment in those cooling solutions costs more then the benefits I gain. It’s not like ‘96 and ’97 (or was it a couple of years before?) where you could take the jumper on you mobo and cap something else and turn you your 25Mhz 486 CPU to 40 Mhz. ( +160% with only a 1 jumper switch…, but I’m happy with my fully graphical interface nowadays . Well I’d love to see your air cooled 4 Ghz run at 6.4Ghz, but it’s impossible unless you park it at Antarctica…)

Main purpose is to get more speed out of a PC for a shorter duration. OC-ing always degrades components on the long run, and will cause the components not to live up to their MTBF times. Does happen! Eespecially at higher voltages..

OC-ing causes crashes/locks/boot fails when done not properly, or when ambient temeratures vary a lot: especially when the CPU/RAM/GPU get high loads, lastly there is a chance for data inconsistencies. In ram and on storage. more memory errors

It will work fine if you know what you’re doing though. and can be interesting. As long as you do not look for extremes.

(my PC is on our top floor of our house, suring hot summer days it can get 25C+ easy, with my PC warming up the environmment further I had it up to 30 even 35+ celsius… if you tune your PC during the winter @ 18-21C and then turn it on in the summer in situations like me you’ll notice it will run hot and downthrottle at high loads… (well not really that often tbh , but I got a huge cooler, with double fans and all.
In a very well ventilated case (20cm (side) in), 4 14 cm in (3 front 1 bottom), PSU venting from bottom to outside, (needs regular cleaning) , 2 14 cm out 1 12cm out, 2 GTX coolers (stock) out), CPU cooled with 2 14 cm. and 6 double heatpipes which makes for 12 fans, all running quite low RPMs most of the times. All ballbearing fans, to reduce noise. all fans have dust shields and I clean them weekly.

Do understand good OC-ing is extremely dependant on ambient temperature. you cannot lose the same amount of warmth to air of 30 C compared to 20 C.

And if stuff burns you’ll always notice late. Trust me, I have had 7 PC’s now mostly High end ones and seen things go wrong, mostly due to external factors though , Lightning strike, Ram instability (bought defective ram twice before, all exchanged…), dust bridges, clogged fan…Spider… Head crashes, HDD motor fail. Fan fails. My daughter and a glass of milk… and I myself poured 2 glasses of cola and at least 3 cups of coffee in my old IBM KB (ps/2)… It lived up to 18 years old before failing… It was the single most durable computer component I ever had.

Do you all guys posting about expensive GPU and cheaper CPU know that this outdated game’s engine is far too often bottlenecked by CPU?

Yes it is and I think an older high end i5 can still run it perfectly with enough memory (8Gb) and a decent graphics solution. (say a PCI-E v3.0 MOBO and an enthousiast/high endvideo card)+

I have a hex core i7 with 2 gtx 780-’s and they are boths idling cpu used 4 threads max hovering at 30% and (SLI) GPU is at 40-60% ….
I doubt it is the PC holding me back.

1 Do not use a stock cooler! Processors work at a certain temperature atm: warming up to a certain temperatrure, and will throttle according to load, high load = more heat, so lower throttle with lacking cooling. Decent cooler, more room for load: higher performance…. As GW2 is said to be CPU heavy any room is appreciated: buy a good cooler, noctua held the best coolers for a while, but most coolers will improva a lot on intels “solution”

2 buy a brand PSU , make sure it has some room (in Watts) to spare. Preferably certified…

3 make sure you get a decent chipset on your motherboard. basic gaming motherboards allow for more options for OC, (additional videocards), faster video, faster bus speeds, more memory channels and so on. you’ll also get better solutions for audio and network the better part of the time.

4 if you can build lego you can build a pc, except for fitting the cooler, it takes a good read and some skill to fit a cooler correct, but IMHO as long as you do not high end OC, anyone will be able to do the job as well… coolant paste is often poisenous, so be careful, without it it will not conduct heat and your cooler is next to useless. All other parts requite you to look before inserting the cables. and dimms ask for some carefull handling. Learn about grounding and static electricity. and 1 rule. edges tend to be safe, never touch any components on chips, connectors or print.

5 If you’re going to buy it yourself do not forget coolant paste, If you are not going to build it yourself and you know a computer technician, have him fit it, at least the CPU & cooler.

6 120 GB SSD is low end, 256 or 512 (2x 256) could almost replace your HDD as long as you do not download huge amounts of movies. If you do buy a HDD: 512/ 1 TB performance HDD (so no WD greens, but a decent 7200rpm/10kRPM SATA 3, or maybe 2 250Gb drives and put the swaps and the user files on the preferably double (RAID-0) HDD stack.) Never buy a SSHD

7 750 is a mid end solution, gaming is (760), 770, 780(Ti), 960, 970, 980. check power usage when upgrading a graphics card in your syustem, you’d might need 50-100 watts more…

8 make sure your box comes with enough fans. if not fit some more, mak sure your box is “overpressured”, more fans in then out. In volume. your GPU fan will help vent. intakes on bottom need dust shields, make sure all vents in are on the bottom and front/side, exhaust fans will be behind your CPU stack and top. Hot air goes up. so help it get out.

9 make sure cables are well away from the parts that need cooling. tie rips are a very handy tool. make sure you run wires behind the Motherboard if possible: obstructions lower the air flow and lower coolingf.

10 if you built 1, you will never let anyone build 1 for you again. It will saye you a lot of overhead. check your components on an internet site and compare the total against your pre built.

Oh and if I forgot it : NEVER USE A STOCK COOLER!

basic requirements for a gaming machine for 32 bit games:
1 A Fast GPU (cooling solution preferred)
2 A Fast CPU & COOLER
3 A decent Mobo
4 A decent PSU
5 8 Gb of memory for 32 bit games, 4Gb max for the 32 bit (so max 4Gb adressed) game, 4 for the OS and other stuff. Anything more is nice. always use couples, so 2×4 will be better then 1x 8
6 A storage solution, choices: Raid SSD, SSD, RAID HDD, HDD
7 A box, with FANS! (water is nice, but if you are doing the first one yourself get fans..)
8 all other stuff is your wish. I still buy A DVD writer (RW) but I tend to just have ‘m sit there sometimes I use it: mostly to listen to a CD or watch an DVD, but for computer use I almost never use it anymore, and I’m 40, so I have CD’s and DVD’s, younger generations have learned about digital carriers…. card reader’s I find a loss of space. You need 1 adapter for SD which fits in 1 usb port if you need it. Most other formats tend to be rare.

Last remark:
Make sure your PC is wired, not wireless, wireless seems nice, but requires good connections, WiFi causes lags, batteries can fail in case of KB or mouse and so on. Wires, old and reliable. SO get an UTP cable and use it.

Oh and DO NOT USE STOCK COOLERS!

I just bought the red lantern, and while it’s quite nice It stays dark…

Why bring a lantern if it doesn’t illuminate your path?

Just give it 1 skill, “light lantern” which turns into a source of light. and have the light turn off again with the same button, “extinguish lantern” It would add greatly to the value…

PLEASE?

how would you keep your lantern in the air anyways without hot air??

And don’t say magic. If it were for magic I would have the sun on a rope for all I care, if i needed a LANTERN!

I guess they will not like it in China, as it is meant to bring light….

Hello, OP!

Every now and again, a thread like this pops up – and we find there’s a lot of us with different conditions, disabilities, and other difficult circumstances, all enjoying playing GW2. It’s always heartening to read the messages, and to hear people really do find comfort and meaning in a game, and the social interactions it brings, though I have personally cut my social behaviour because I “don’t play well with others”. Though, it’s just a game, and that seems silly to some, it really doesn’t matter. It also doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about it, either.

For me, parts of the game are sometimes a little difficult owing to my photosensitive epilepsy, but there’s more than enough here to keep me happy. I can’t wait for hang gliding in HoT, however it turns out, considering that’s something I’d never be able to do in real life. Of course, none of us are going to be asura or sylvari, charr or norn, or even humans wielding magic – none of us, wherever we are on any scale, are going to kill a dragon today. A game such as this gives all of us common ground at the start, and no one should be picking at anyone for finding it a release.

Speaking about photosensitive epilepsy – or maybe just epilepsy in general – anyone else bugged by the lighting involved in the LS encounters with mordrem? I had a very near miss in the last Camp Resolve instance where I stupidly got stuck under a ramp, and the resulting graphic really wanted to kill me. Somehow managed to get out of it, but I’ve found the lighting to be rather disturbing, though it could be because I have to have the screen much darker than standard (same sort of issue in the Labyrinth as well).

Photosensitive as well, though less for recurring flashes, mostyly big intensity changes are the main trigger, I can watch into a strobe and keep standing, but lightning or flashphotography can down me quick.

I still notice most problems in the temple events in orr. Dwaybna and Lyssa are problematic…

I run lower intensity screens nowadays, and screen backlighting to lessen the intensity of changes, which tend to solve all but the worst problems. And I haven’t suffered a serial TC attack in the last 4 yrs now.. leaving me hopefull I’m only having PC and single TC attacks nowadays.

Burning Condition Issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

I’ve run several dungeons with my S/S LB warrior, it uses sinister armor. When I get into a dungeon with rangers gaurdians and memsers It functions perfect, giving me acces to 4500 dmg/tick in conditions (also using burning when possible) and 1200-1500 (max 1750) on auto sword. give or take a couple of hundreds (depending on might)

But If I have an enigineer,a necro and a warrior in party I do about 250-750 condition dmage a tick and roughly the same physical damage. losing me 60-80% of my potential damage capability,

This also shows why there are threads all over the forums asking for imnprovements on the condition system, raising of stacks, condition overflow dmg, and or other changes to the condition system to make conditions viable.

The only class not dealing so much with the problems cause by conditions is mesmer as the 2 main conditions for mesmer are confusion and torment, both are carried by other preffesions but will NOT cap out. 2 mesmers will reach the cap[, 3 will cause deminished damage.

But conditions are not only important due to damage:

Most conditions are looked over:
vulnerability for dps enhancement
weakness for enemy damage reduction
blinds for misses
poison for reduced healing
chilled for lower attack speed/ slower movement
cripple for slower movement/ no escapes
stuns/dazes/fear: interupt

Condition damage.. well…

I find it very nice you are looking into burning from your guardian. But I must say, IMHO they USE burning on target, but they are no condition users.

I have a condition ranger, It uses SB and Axe torch, and flametrap, giving it 3 burns.
I have a hybrid warrior, It uses longbow giving it 2 burns
I have an elementalist, It also thrives by burning, it gets +10% dmg like the guardian, and in the fire attunement: burning, burning on crit… even though it’s mostly DPS specced.
I have a condi mesmer, on both staff and torch: burning.
Well I do not use dhuumfire on necro, as it is a waste of stats Imho. so you’re safe there.
All guardians either conditions or DPS will proc fire every 5th, 4th3rd hit, they have a conidtion clean which is a firefield.
And engineer. I’m not even starting about flamethrower and kits.

You are not going to evade your fire being overwritten…never. IMHO condition builds for guardian are way underpowered at the moment, leaving them non viable in any kind of group content.

Condition Mesmer is viable in PVE, ranger, warrior, necro, ele and engineer, only partially… due to the abundance of conditions in PvE with no stats backing them, e.g. Empty conditions.

Hi fellow players.

We have seen the first of a set of developer introductions and well vague talks about the upcoming HoT expansion.

People are enthousiast at first seeing about 80% postive threads, but noiw a week and a useless livestream later we see more negatative threads… Mods are cleaning fanatically.

Problem is sad: it is people thinking they can complaiin about everything even though they haven’t had any play time on an unknown expansion..,

ArenaNet wants to make this realease a big happening. It’s about the continued existance of GW2.They want to make sure everybody knows there will be an expansion, and we will get it end Q2, start Q3. (well I would have been completely overwhelmed if some developer would say It is payed but you can download it from this moment on during the next gaming convention. It would be awesome, but unrealistic.)

The Q2, Q3 is late IMHO, I’d prefer to see a download available within weeks after the 2nd PAX thingy, but I doubt this will be happening. They will probably announce the date, which is way to far ahead anyways as most people have been begging for and x-pac for over a year now. They’ll probably say we have another race, and some other things.
Seeing it: if they’d shown everything why bother going to other gaming events?

Seeing this and knowing the devs need to lift a lot more veils, so It might be wiser to not be negative all the time. The fact you all are waiting and it takes long doesn’t need to make the community having to suffer all this toxic waste? I’ve seen at least 10-15 threads deleted/closed in the last couple of days.

If they do not have anything more to add now this would be the most crappy xpac in gaming history. Just a few area’s, well you can jump and not fall to your death, but other then a new map for wvw and a gaming mde for PvP and 1 proffession it would be severely lacking. I love the idea of expanding the powers of my character by specializing ‘m. Still it would be so lacking I couldn’t believe it.

Mursaat were on the ring of fire in gw1. I saw mursaat. I am wondering if we get to ascend ourselves, Which was the main story line in the crystal desert before, we saw a preview in the LS of the ascension…. I’m missing Dungeons. Anyone remembering Vekk’s lair? We might even encounter M.O.X. Or what was the dungeon in the Ring of Fire?? remember? It was one of the endgame dungeons… Lorewise it cannot be completely forgotten? or can it?

So I do NOT beleive this is everything. If this would be everything I doubt they would make much profit. At least not compared to the anual planning we saw floating on the site. So remain hopefull. They need to have the best things still up their sleeves.

So still expecting race(s), dungeon, More area, not ONLY the jungle. Some poeple already wrote lore dictates 6 dragons. if they are going to release things 1 dragon at a time with intervals of 3 years we still need to wait 12 years for the living story and the battle for the 6th dragon… It would be foolish to expect them developers not to work towards a " better structured closing".

I expect some weapons. some other things whcih are not yet spoken of…

I just hope people could wait and see when they feel negative, and if they feel positive share their feelings. Hoping to read many constructive and happy threads. 6 months is quite some time… to launch something. all the events they need something new…. ALL!

Else the Hypretrain will come to a halt. And I doubt A-Net will let it happen…. So Just get a sandwitch onboard the HypeTrain…And continue to next station.

I have much faith in the dev team and the upcoming expansion… really! And I’m, looking forward to another 2-3 years of amazement and entertainment. I know we will be happy once we’re at the end-station of this Hype Trains Travel,.

I think many posters here already had the grind for replacement, retraining, reviews, reviews of revies, and more. And have been told several times there is noi actual chance for work.

I have been deemed fit to work 2-6 hours a week with maximum 50% of the productivity of a normal person, with a spread load of maximum 2 hours a day.
Which will mean if I’d find work at a boss, they’d have to invest for me making a workspace for someone being 2m04 cm, who will be there 1-3 days for 2 hours, each day providing 1 hour of usefull labor.

And as I’m not fit to travel alone I need to be picked up and returned home as well, on costs of the employer. Some of those costs will be refunded by the governement, but do you actually expect the community to pay 2-5 times as much for 1 hour of work compared to someone else? I will not get above any social minimum, and will be given additional money from the disablity funds, to compensate, actually they need to pay me 300 euro’s a month more due to the fact I actually have a job, so they need to pay my transport, my being there the modifictaions to the workspace, monitoring, just so I can tell people: ‘Well I’m so good I worked 6 hours last week’. It is ludicrous and not to mention a waste of community money. I would gain 300 euro’s and lose the possiblity to do anything else, I’d be to tired to walk my dog or care for my children… And they are worth much more then 300 euro.

Guess a huge part of the player base seeks knowledge about the PvE HoT, not PvP.

I myself do not care about capture the stronghold. Nor matches in PvP. I play WvW and PvE. I do not care about the E-Sports trip they are having in their heads. I do not care.

Do you know what’s wrong with me?
I don’t care for PvP!
And I just long to see:
What I can play in PvE

And it’s now a hype for me
What lies ahead, but not to see
What will become and what might be
of my beloved PvE

Well… Maybe it’s singable as well…

Devs: Verata's Seared ring @ Laurel vendor?

Well the Living Story Season 2 came to and end. I bought Jurah’s thingy and it unlocked fine on the laurel vendor. BUT STILL NO RING? I made the luminescent armor, still no Ring…

And I love the ascneded sinister offensive amulet, but I’m still looking for the utility version..

Could Verata’s Seared Ring be added to the laurel vendor? Or should I write a support ticket?

And when I’m at it ccould there be another check if zealot’s ascended trinkets could be added, PLEASE?

Any dev willing to help me answer this?

Evil bump… ?

Have you completed the Seeds of Truth episode?

I finished ALL chapters of the Living Story Season 2, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 INCLUDING all achievements.

On my main warrior it says completed the episode and all associated achievements. No ring though at the laurel vendor.

laurel vendor has for me:

jurah’s jewel amulet
wynne’s locket amulet
plague signet ring
caithe’s blossom acces.
caithe’s remorse acces.
(also have all nomads trinkets except for a utility version.)

I have the verata’s ring on the character who wants to buy it. (for my necro, she finished the instances as well, and I have a ranger who finished most if not all as well..

So my question to the development team, is this intentional or a bug?

I can go to the silverwastes and buy it for 1000 crests and 10 gold… But I would like to buy it through the laurel vendor, the trinkets through the guild commendation vendor (if possible) and It would be nice if both nomads and sinister would be availabe to WVW traders as well.

Condition Damage in PvE Overview

Condition damage = SPVP / TPVP / WvWvW

Direct damage = PVE

Problem has been solved described. Good day, everyone.

FTFY
A lot.

lol, exactly :P there’s a problem with the fact that condi damage is useless in pve, let’s not try to overlook that.

Problem is the condition dmg in PvE is not implemented with more then 3-5 ppl in mind and we see zergs of 100 ppl hitting on bosses. Condition damage could and should be better only the implementation as is is just…… mèèèeeeh….

generally DOT build should outperform DPS build after 10-15 seconds in raw damage. this cannot be achieved: showing DOT is much to weak in the first place in GW2.

generally DOT builds are an important factor in game mechanics. I’d be able to do a 40 second bleed on mai- trin before a wipe, we could respawn and reenter the boss room and continue….

Well i do not care about a door not being able to bleed, but I could make it weak or on fire. (vulnerable, wait that would be DPS as well)
All adding to dps of the few weaker DPS skills…. left to condi builds.

Make Necro Greatsword a raw damage weapon

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Necros aren’t “bad” because they have bad dps.
Necros aren’t welcome in parties because they’re a selfish class, they don’t contribute to the party by anything.

They don’t have any useful buffs and their utility is “meh” which makes them more of a solo class

you’re so wrong… About the selfish part
3/0/5/6/0 transfusion (D/F & Stff) necro The first has more toughness, will do his buffs on bigger area’s,
(alt version 6/0/2/6/0 The second has 50 power more and a bit more dps when foe is below 50% health)
BOTH will provide aoe healing also on dodge, on staff 2, on heal skill, on transfusion, and focus 4 and give aoe protection on 4 wells. It will provide boon stripping, (AOE) blindness, vulnerability, chill, poison, interupts (fears),weakness. I’ll ignore the bleeds.
You can remove conditions with a kill or with staff 4 transfering them to enemies.

With runes of dwayna <- yes HEALING RUNES You’ll be doing good damage and add a huge amount of survivability. You could add Zealots armor, adding to the healing further.

OR

You could ignore the above suggestion and go for full zerk with runes of the pack, which could add the call of the wild ranger warhorn skill when hit, buffing your part for 13 seconds of might (1), fury and swiftness, every 20 seconds if needed… to all mentioned things above.

You should try it. It will make you rethink things. and see how a dps support NECRO can be of use in a dungeon run.

But I agree 6/6/0/0/2 necro is not very interesting, and is a selfish build. somewhat like 6/5/0/0/3 warrior (try 4/4/6/0/0) or
4/5/0/1/4 guardian… (try 2/5/0/6/1) or
6/2/2/2/2 staff ele, (try 6/2/0/2/4), (0(2)/2/0/6/6(4)) or
DPS thief or DPS mesmer, or DPS ranger for that matter.

I’d appreciate if necro GS would become a true hybrid weapon, providing above avg DPS and good conditions

“I play how I want…”

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Doubt while posting this, but: every and all content is doable with a celestial build… all stats being 70% of the minor stat in 3-stat armor. This has consequences.

You will not get a 5 second p2 boss in AC, or a 5.175s after the might nerf -.- but you will finish the boss in 2 traps, maybe even 1 with competent MIGHT stackers and banners..

So for most DPS focus on zerk
So for most triggers/dmg based on crits focus on Assassin/Rampager.
So for most power focus on power/vitality/toughness (sharpening stones will help you know)
So for most condition damage use sinister/rabid/dire (glass/durable/tanky)
So for most armor go nomads, cavaliers, knights
So for healing go clerics

But don’t copy the names and just buy all stuff. THINK and build what you want/need
there is way more top make and use then just a maxed stat. a maxed stat ALWAYS has disadvantages.

Zerk will be useless when you will get 1 fast attacking boss somewhere.
Zerk will be useless If the target has 4000 armor…. It will render other power build moe crippled, seeming leaving zerk best, but 1 condi user will grin and kill it in the same time as five zerk users, mark my words. It would be a reason to bring 1 full condi.
Zerk is viable only because of dodges and evades. without enough dodges/vigor, sigils (= dps loss!) and no other ways to eat the damage zerk will prove useless…

Conditions are capped, so useless if there is a chance conditions will be overwritten… you can run 2800 condition dmg on your mesmer and still do NO damage with staff (have 2-3 warriors and a guard in party…) or you can take scepter and notice most do not stack confusion and torment and kill your enemy very fast.

Having 4000 armor seems nice, but you will have to trade in something and any conditions will kill you where you’re standing. even with condi clears.

Having 3000 vitality will add a nice health bonus, but it will be unreplenishable in combat. no more health? Oops.

having 2000 healing power is nice, but if you are not alive to spend it it has no use and when you have enough armor it leaves you with bitter low dps…

Full off stats is nice, but squishy.
Full def stats is dumb and it will take forever to accomplish something.

What ever you think off: find something balanced. So not full cavalier armor, zerk weapons and trinkets, be wise. say well I need to be able to take 4 hits instead of 2 so I’ll take 2 pieces of cavaliers (chest, legs) on my ele… If all people would reson like this, the game would be 1 second slower in ac p2 and you would have NO wipes. If it happens: A wipe will lose you about 25-45 seconds. Which is more then ample to correct doing dungeon paths without fail over and over by using 2 pieces of cavaliers..

People are having a problem seeing the difference between record runs and efficient runs. In a record run you’re all in, with weapons, food, armor, runes all for maximum damage, 1 guard messing up a skill will mean you fail your run, so will any other.
Most fast runes and zerk-meta runs consist of people who do not use food, losing out on 10% defense and 10% offense, have their legendary with pve sigils and say they are the bomb. They shouldn’t be wearing 100% zerk. It has no purpose except bragging which is lame cause in the end they do not set records, only showing stupidity, and causing unneccesary fails. No might stacking, maybe a pug carrier, not taking banners to next encounter, no speedboosts, no food, no utility……. but still they kick the ranger and the necro. Cause they are to dumb too see it doesn’t matter, and the group wiping instead of succeeding shows ignorance.

They play how they want to? No.. they fail how they want to!

IMHO a balanced party taking in the limitations of the aprty and using food and the skills available will generally be roughly the speed of the “ignorant zerk-party”, just without deaths, stackloss (well you cannot stack with dungeon weapons) and with support and heals. Making the second way less stressfull and on edge.

I’m not talking about dedicated speedrunners. They know the combo’s the stacking, the pro’s and con’s of everything. I’m no dedicated speedrunner, but have seen things… and been on runs where I felt like a total noob. No damage on party NIL for a run. due to good use of blinds and aegis. All people above 90%, 100% of the time. runs hampered by timegated things like defense and slow walks of NPC’s which were speedbuffed… too minimize timeloss. dedicated skills, dedicated weapons for each encounter. weapon swaps before engaging (guardd staff, changed for GS before attacking so he has GS and S+F and no loss of DPS after the empower(s). Zerk is the wannabee set in 90% of all LFG groups. The few actual speed runners do not care about the fails and are laughing. The other speedrunners will not bother with LFG.

They know how to play how they want. And do not bother others.

I’ve read all posts, and see people using GW2:
to forget RL issues, in this thread mostly related to physical and mental disability/disease
to improve social contact(s), to not feel alone
to improve cognitive abilities, Yeah…. It works….
to improve motor skills, I’m lucky I have mostly mental challenges..
just as an outlet, well frustration need to be released…. stress and anxiety as well.
just to have fun, probably one of the more important things…
just to be out there…

Sometimes I would like to go and get a drink somewhere with people ingame, but a hunters ale, perfectly brewed, might be nice for my character, for me it’s still lacking

I love tyria and most of it’s inhabitants. And I love wife and kids. The balance can be difficult, but is important for both my physical and mental and social health.

No level increase

- does happy-dance around his gaming chair -

I’m very happy with no level increase. It wouldn’t be any use. The levels as is are ok. I could see further unlock of traits. Or specialisations, but not again a gear grind for no win in stats. The actual stats you gained by getting ascended have been nerfed into oblivion. Which makes your ascended armor the same as realease time exotics.
Only you do not pay 5 ecto’s 5 t6 and some mats to make it…

Due to people wanting more crafting levels and on we now need 6 ascended insignia’s t7 crafting mats, which are timegated and overly expensive. laurels and guild commendations to buy ascended rings… and pay 40 gold for pink stats on our weapons… instead of 4 gold for orange.

We could buy EXOTIC end game stuff for 10 gold at start, or get it free from dungeons and karma…, but due to pressure from some we pay 900 for ascended… and to compensate for the introduction all damages were nerfed 10%.
GG for all people wanting “new tiers.” the most of you still use the old skins for the better part, you still use the same builds but now it’s 30 times as expensive. No gain in the end.

If it would happen stuff had gotten lvl 100 how much would you have payed for your level 100 armor? Again a mark-up 30 times as much? So a nice armor set for 27k gold? this time all mats timegated for a week?

Just be glad you can play the game.

I do not pity the TP flippers who were expecting more and more. So you can buy all new legendaries at release of HoT? Well nice for you.
I just hope you find anything more interesting to do in the coming couple of years as you instantly destroyed all long term goals of playing HoT… GG to you 2

I run 146, 148 or 150 slots on 14 of my 15 characters, In all I ruse mostly the same setup:
20 (base backpack) salvage o matic / mystic salvage kit (x2)(/ story items) fire elemental powder/pet whistles (4-6 slots (Some still carry the HoM thingy.)
18 (20) normal bag empty
18 (20) normal bag empty
18 normal bag empty
18 craftsman pack: salvage items… (and my excess mithril/ t5 wood/ t5 leather/ bloodstone dust/emperyal/ dragonite) mostly ~5 filled with incomplete stacks
18 oiled pack/invisible bag: excess food/ junk
18 Invisible bag : trinkets/food (6-12 trinkets 6-12 (dungeon food) food)
18 Invisible bag : armors/weapons ( 1-2 armors 6-12 weapons)

Characters used in wvw as well tend to have 3 invisible bags, losing 1 the oiled pack:
sieges: blues/ purples/ traps: 15 slots, 3 for additional food.

This setup leaved me 83 (WvW)-100(Pve/Dungeon) free slots… of 146-150.
I have 1 character with 3 alt armors, but it uses the same weapons in all setups.,
3 with 2 alt armors and most characters have 1 alt or none.
Then again, I have 15 characters playing 7 classes, (3w,2g,3r,1t,3n,2e,1m, no engineer) so I have the choice of spreading builds around and/or making dedicated wvw characters..

I must say Guild wars 2 is an important part of my life.
Though priorities lie with my family (married , father of 2 daughters(4 yrs & 5 months)) and my dog, I tend to look for things ingame I cannot hope to see elsewhere.

I’m 40 yrs old , there is little wrong with my physical body other then the fact I have bad knees, a bad back and bad shoulders, mostly due to epilepsy attacks gone bad and my length and weight I suffer, mostly due to mental issues.

I have suffered a minor stroke at 23 leaving me epileptic and it wrecked me mentally.
I used to be an athlete, rowing single sculls, at reasonable level, I studied at university.
Now I have a very bad memory. I have difficulty recollecting faces. I can remember nearly everything from before the stroke, but all things afterwards remain blurry and vague. My study failed, I am not able to work, at least that’s the general opinion of most, due to excessive fatigue, concentration problems, and seizure hazard.

I was earning a little on the side doing computer maintainance and some DBA (oracle/arcgis) work at the time, which is difficult or impossible now as I cannot recollect the variable names anymore when programming…

I suffer from PTSD due to teasing and harasment from older kids (being 2m04 now, already gives an impression I was a tall boy when young, but I was as tall as a 12 yr old I was only 8 at the time…) Due to this I can completely collapse mentally leaving me panicked and unable to act in crowds I see people in crowds I was teased by 25+ years ago… I only go out with a companion, be it my wife or my dog (even though he (my dog is a male german pointer 6 yrs old) has no official training he works for me, keeping my attention when I panic, and warning me when I start seizing), I’ve been in therapy about 5 or 6 times now, but due to the fact the teasing was for a prolonged period (from 6-14yrs old) I tend to relapse a lot.

I’m also suffering (hypo)manic depressive disorder. I have phobia’s making it difficult to meet people. I hate most interaction with other people then very close friends. I hate the the city, the masses of people, pushing me around and not respecting my space.
It makes me aggressive and stressed, which is dangerous, cause when the stress tones down, I seize. Epilepsy seizures have been very dangerous in the past I’ve had periods I was in hospital every 2-3 months, each time with lifethreatening seizures, Even to the point my wife has been brought in to say goodbye…. multiple times. I’ve been given up 7 or 8 times now… but am still alive.

In Tyria I’m free to do what I want. I feel free. If I run into dragons or problems I can face them. It gives me freedom to run around not having to worry about the ghosts of my past. I can go and feel alive without moving… I can feel at peace even if there is none….

And no I’m not worrying about te pixel people, I see characters and know there is other players. I can interact with them If I want, or not. I have had better chats and talks (ts3 and so on) with people then I hve had for years in the world. My fear stays in the background, I do not need to expose myself…

For me it is also important to keep mindfull and not forget to stay in contact with the real world…so: My priorities lie with my family (married , father of 2 daughters(4 yrs & 5 months)) and my dog.

5772 hours played. still meeting people and discovering things.

@ OP I’m glad you found a beautiful world and live free from the bonds that hold you back in real life. I think we have roughly the same experience but on other grounds…

Necro Pve/Dungeons

Still think a PBAOE wellmancer would be viable for necro

3/0/5/6/0 or 6/0/2/6/0 well of blood, suffering, darkness, corruption
condi removal on self
(powerfull marks)
( 20% dmg vs ppl below 50% health)
targetable wells
(bigger marks)
transfusion
marks on dodge
choice of dagger mastery (
25% dmg) or vampiric wells (a lot of sustain)

Available conditions: bleed, poison, weakness (also aoe combo), fear, chill, blind, vulnerability, torment
Availabel buffs,regen. protection

They could use wells (in fight) and marks (prefight or through dodge) for aoe dmg, use transfusions for systain, provide protection and AOE blindness, and healing if needed via evasive marks and focus. second weapons would be dagger.

Staff Daggaer/focus, either full zerk or zealot zerk. full zerk would provide aoe 2k health on transfusion and zealot 3.5k,

for people who do run speedsruns rune of the pack on hit (which will happen due to either 100 or 250 toughnesss through traits, you’ll provide AOE might, fury and swiftness to party,, 175 power, 125 precision)
for people who don’t run speedsruns rune of dwayna (+40% regen fields, regen on healing skill and +175 healing, recieve regen when hit)

Generally If I’m allowed into speed partied with necro, they appreciate the utility, as you support guards and ele’s and can take over their support functions, on a huge health pool. And no it isn’t the most DPS. And not having the most dps doesn’t matter, as it keeps your party from wiping or nearly wiping just once, causing any time difference to be corrected. The build will do good damage due to the wells and the daggers, And it wil be versatile. And it will be substantually more viable then 6/6/0/0/2 necro.

Well GWEN is viable in dungeons as well:
Phalanx warrior might stacking during combat, vulnerability, banners & empower allies, above average DPS
Elementalist, might stacking before combat, AOE DPS, icebow, emergency healing, small life pool, highest DPS
Guardian blinds, aegis, protection, stability, wall of reflection, vulnerability, small life pool (shouldn’t be a problem though?) above average DPS
ranger, near instant 20 stacks vulnerability , & spotter, aoe heal with condi removal average DPS

I guess people are too salty today becuase of losing 125 power hahaha.

Well Why would I care my might stack goes from 875 to 750? I’m comforted by the act you lose 125 power as well, Oh and I almost forgot 125 condition dmg… LOL!

It don’t mean a thing…

I posted in another thread Instead ofthe AC P2 boss dying in 5 seconds he’ll be dying in 5.175 seconds… Well that’s gamebreaking.

In other news today a-net nerfed might, The problem is if a critter needed 30 hits to die it now needs 31… We are outraged??…

Yes and I’m living in 2015 now, seeing people still ignoring all fields, purposely being noobs, knowing no more then 1111111111111111111111, see it happen?

This could be the influence of the NPE you start at lvl 1 with1 skill and mindlessly spam 111111111111111111111 nice coincidence, which tends to be the meta nowadays…
Luckily in 2013 The NPE was no problem yet…..

But 1 warrior can carry 2 usefull banners 3 if really needed (strength, discipline, war…). But I guess meta is shifting cause I tend to see more idiots running banner of tactics, guess lengthening the 25 stacks of might by 3 seconds outweighs 170 power, 170 condition dmg, 170 precision and 170 ferocity… AND 25 stacks of might?

Warrior is relatively simple, playing warrior to a point it gets giood is a bit too far for 70-80% of the warriors…

Some things seemingly utterly unknown to the (warrior) player base:

1 banner is a blast finisher, s0 use it in your ele’s firefield, thewn pick irt up again and use skill 5 which is a blast finisher, And wait: OTHERS can pick it up as well in succession AND use skill 5 for more blast finishers, (= personal CD!)
IN A FIREFIELD LASTING 7 SECONDS YOU (& party) COULD BLAST 3-5 TIMES!

Warriors:
2 Mace (offhand, yes) skill 4 does 10 vulnerability,,,, axe (mainhand) skill 2 does 4 vulnerability, which brings the buff to party to 14% if you just use these 2 skills before you start 1&2-ing on GS,
3 If you need a pull, use axe 3 instead of gs 4…
4 GS skill 3 is an evade, so do not waste it.
5 GS skill 5 rush is a good gap closer
6 autotarget off: skill 3,5 on GS star as running skills.
7 Axe burst is ver powefull…
8 If needing frequent autoattacks use axe, not GS. (CoE golem room, CoF p2)
9 use DUNGEONutility and food, Why should your pug carrier work hard to buff you while you are to lazy to bring 2 cheap foods, bring the free cof potions back, and gain 9% dmg, and 8% free dmg reduction, get a 80 powr, 60 precision, mostly 2-3 silver…
10 Think…. don’t be a mindless stacker slacker… Use your abilities. If you are not a pug carrier (phalanx) bring a war banner, res your party when things go OOPS…

Currency:

DUNGEONS, 1.26 gold + drops from most dungeons, 1.76 gold from AC and Arah 3, or 3.26 gold from arah 1,2,4. Per path…
People generally run
AC Full (5g28s), tokens will buy soldiers armor/weapons, good money
CoF 1,2(2g52) , tokens will buy zerk armor/weapons, very fast
SE 1,3 (2g52), fast.
TA fw/up (2g52), just because it’s night as well
CoE Full (3g 78), charged cores/lodestones
ALL NIGHT DUNGEONS (sigil of night/force, dont forget food (ignore AC foodwise)
Do path sell stuff, buy exotics with salvageable inscriptions/insignia’s… Also provides dungeon tokens

Other options are
Farming:
Orr train… (or l80 mats in Orr, frotgorge, Dry Top Silverwastes)
Silverwastes for some rares and huge amounts of greens.
World Bosses (guaranteed rare(s) & for an added chance of precursors (so they say…))
EotM… Well it’s better then other WvW maps… Provides karma

PvP
If you like PvP you could get up to 15 gold from arena’s/day I do not play PvP…
Provides tomes for speed leveling, when at decent level

Legendaries:

Get needed crafting proffesions to 400
Get a precursor (70-1100 gold) or be lucky in the toilet.
Get Map completion,
Get WVW unlocked and mapped,
Find out what dungeon you’ll need for your legendary.
Get a LOT of karma in EotM.
Then get an additional 1200 gold and craft one, using crafting (stacks of Ecto’s, stack of T6(all), and materials for your specific gift, some do need a lot of charged lodestones, making the stacks of T6 the least of your problems.)

Or skip it all earn 3000+ gold and buy one…. Which is lazy and IMHO unrewarding, making your then-not-so-legendary nothing but a skin bought from the TP.

Bring Back Holy Trinity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Why would they bring back the trinity? It was NEVER here in the 1st place?

It wouldn’t help. I have 4 dedicated healers (S/F&GS zealot guard, zealot staff ele(or celestial ele), zealot transfusion necro, zealot shout heal warrior.) on my 15 characters, and they run builds I like. Mostly with full DPS gear. I have 1 (heal)tank purely for trolling or commander group WvW…. it will stay alive in an enemy zerg while immo-ed, at least for 10-12 seconds… which tends to be enough.

IMHO my war w. PVT Hammer/Mace build counts as a CC tank, but it’s just the feel… I know it really holds it’s own vs igniters in COF 2, but other then that it has few uses , due to “Defiant” which make the game boring, at least regarding CC, I still wonder why arenanet made a lockout for CC’s vs all champions and higher… Maybe they are afreaid if all warriors would go hammer instead of GS. It would probably improve boss uptime considerably… but would allow people to enjoy playing the game the way they want to play.

And they are viable builds in the end all. p

I notice I have run 75K+ AP speedruns with ALL the buffs, and done AC 123 in >40 minutes, done cof in so short a time it was rediculous. And I’ve run with everybody welcome paths, which tend to take forever, nobody is geared, and nowadays it’s even worse as noone is traited.

Leaving me to run zerker quite often or zealot zerk healer…or in rare cases sinister, if I know condi’s are good…

Sinister is a full offensive set but condis are still bad in a group.

Lol most people do not seem to know : conditions are more then just bleeding & burning, which are both empty dmg condi’s.

If it wasn’t for conditions your game would be different

poison reducing healing by 33% and oh yes some dmg…
torment, well damage yes, but if they run, or you kite them dmg doubles
confusion, well use the skill I dare ya, and you’ll pay the price
vulnerability…. yes a condition want 25% more dmg?
weakness… turn your foe into a wet noodle. no more crits, 50% chance for 50% dmg.
blind: miss next attck

interupts(and conditions):
stun/daze
knockdown
fear/ terror

movement impeding conditions.
immobilized: you are going nowhere
chill 66% reduced movement, 66% added recharge
criple 50% reduced movement…

Conditions are more then just a few points of damage. Most condition builds will run condition duration, which will benefit the group directly. Also some condition users are not hampered by the masses and their meta builds, : mesmers… Ok you’ll lose 20% of group dmg output vs a zerker, but a decent DOT build will do a lot of damage, and it will keep on ticking for a while, very usefull if you need to rerun as the boss will not reset untill the condition has passed… Oh and if a condi specisalist is not wanted take a hybrid…

Also tomorrow they are reducing the overall dmg output by cutting 125 power.

Which is the end of the world your DPS zerk warrior will lose out on 3.5% power… so now the end-boss in AC p2 will take 5.175 seconds instead of 5. I’m truly shocked

I do agree with lupicus solo It will take a little bit more then a couple of hits more. for every 30 hits you’ll need to do 1 more now. Yes…. if you’d be running 25 stacks all the time that is…

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Zerk is fine. Zerk is a niche in itself. Zerkers just expect everything to melt. If you know when to dodge zerk will do fine in all present content. If hard mode would be introduced and all enemies would hit 2-3 times as fast, for 60/40% of the damage, all zerkers would need new armor, or “healing/regen/protection/(aoe) blinds/aegis” or be melted themselves. Then again so would all based on full offensive stats…

IMHO zealots and sinister are an addition to the present meta. They allow for condition builds to run dungeons. And as long as zerk stays base, sinister will be a usefull addition. Zealots will add additional healing to classes which are already capable of healing, eg guard, necro, elementalist, with only a small reduction in dmg output

I also think there are stats that have no use in PVE atm. I do not consider pure condition builds useless though.
generally I do agree with the rule:
3 off stats = Hey: GOOD ! =D
2 off stats = mmm, ’kay, hop you have thought this through.
1 off stat power = hope you have a good plan, :/
1 minor condi or 0 off stat = have a good time soloing. 8(

I find viable: zerk, sin, sinister, zealot , valkyrie(at least 1 or some pieces),
I find niche: clerics, knights, cavalier, rampager, celestial, carrion, soldiers, rabid, dire,
I find useless: shaman, apothecary, settlers, nomads, sentinels, giver’s, magi …..

The useless stats can be used to create specialized builds in conjunction with other gear types, but to MAYBE have 1 low off stat and only def stats: Well…. NOOOoooo….!

If the patch would provide more enemies with 4k+ armor then zerk would be nice but the parts would be done by 1 S/S War, 1 Condi mesmer, 1 Condimancer, 1 condithief or 1 trap/condiranger… The rest of the party could be zerk. Then again as we will have new proffesions and specialisations…… We’ll see.

lol… people love the game, and say wow about the graphics for the past 2.5 yrs….

If there would be actual problems with movement, don’t you think it wouldn’t have been patched in beta? charr can be difficult in JP’s simple solution ir to draw weapond, and it’s normal. asura tend to jump very high and be very fast and agile, but I can navigate them everywhere… doubt there are many problems…

My old dual (2p) quad core opteron used to have some problems with this game even with an updated grphics solution, but I did fine… on low/medium setings.
It had(/has) 2 CPUs on 2.3 Ghz both quad core, 16 Gb of ddr2, and a AMD Radeon HD 6870 upgraded from a nvidia 9600 GT…

My old CPU is slower but the same in design, if the gw2 engine were better optimized for multithreading I guess the systems would be on par. The videocard you have is slower, but will fit your CPU better. My tends to overstress the IO and CPU a bit, lowering performance of both cpu and gpu.

I’d suggest making one character in phrophecies, learn the basics in pre searing, then make a ritualist in factions, level it to lvl 10, unlock nightfal for the characters and get all easy available heroes from nightfall and eotm. then do what you want.

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

well….

Necro’s are not bad, but people refuse to think out of the box…

3/0/5/6/0 , 6/0/2/6/0 are nice examples of Well PBAOE bombers with protection, and options for aoe healing… be it through transfusion or the mark of blood on evasion or staff.
They’ll bring AOE blindness, boon stripping and will support in several ways to keep the party alive & will add dmg while doing so.

Precise Build:
3 remove conditions on kill
0
5 wells give protection, greater marks
6 transfusion, well rechange, mark of blood on evasion
0
Utility & healing: 4 wells blood, suffering, darkness, corruption (power)
Elite: choose yourself…

D/? & staff, for DPS Zealot (or zerk) armor, zerk weapons, zerk trinkets.
? can be dagger for an added weakness, and condition removal
? can be focus for an added regen…

It synergizes very well with cheap healing runes (=>dwayna 3.5s), for an additional regen on healing well, and regen duration) but will work with runes of the pack (2.5g) as well (adding chance of speedboost, some fury and might)).
While running runes of dwayna: The build will still be very capable of doing damage, especially with some might support (pug carrier/might stacking)
Do not underestimate the Utility this build brings on party. well of darkness will remove dmg from all direct attacks for 5 to 6 seconds… and the other wells will reduce dmg by 33%, well of blood will AOE heal the group, transfusion will AoE heal the group, with staff marks 3 and 4 you’ll have a weakness combo, access to poison well reduce enemy healing, staff 2 will create aoe regen in the mark (and a bit outside), dodges will create extra (staff 2 marks) allowing for very decent regen. and of cousre you’ll still have 2 interupts DS #3 single target, staff #5 AOE.

Powe line build (will not add much power!)
6 condition removal on kill, 10% additional dmg on marks, +20% dmg while foe below 50%
0
2 protection on wells
6 transfusion, well rechange, mark of blood on evasion
0

Non PBAOE build
(less powerfull, I’d suggest axe instead of dagger if you want more range)
3(4) condi removal on death, (axe-training) or (marks +10%)
2 targettable wells
2 wells give protection
6 transfusion, well rechange, mark of blood on evasion
0

Optional other skills: power signet (why?) or blood is power (which requires dagger offhand, to remove bleeding on self)
Optional trait vampiric wells instead of mark of blood on dodge…(mostly usefull for solo running), you could add vampiric precision as well, but it will remove the core of the build… leaving you with only protection.

As is this build will support a guardian in it it’s function (guards ted to provide the same boons including stability, but not “Aoe & while doing damage at the same time”…)

Well My 15 characters (3w,2g,1t,3r,1m,2e,3n) have:
Zerk: 2w, 2n,1e,1r,2g,1t
zealot, 1e,1g,1n
clerics/nomads, 1g
sinister: 1w,1n,2r,1t
soldiers 1w
celestial 1e
rabid 1m,1n,1r

yes thats 23 armors… And I’m probably forgetting some… I run all but the rabid armors through CoF. With AC I tend to run zerk, not always though… In CoE zerk, well most of the time, In Fractals I run zerk, zealot, celestial or sinister. In TA mostly well all of them except the rabids…

If people have a bad time I take my zealot/zerk necro or zealot ele
If the party doesn’t do DPS, I bring my zerk pug carrier

I do not agree you do not need other stats are not usefull, I do agree, viatlity and toughness are well, mostly a waste of investment. I for one beleive in the use of healing, condition duration, boon duration to buff regen and healing and survival, but only if you can combine it with a decent build capable of sustained dps.

Which defies my clerics/nomads guardina, as it has no dps whatsoever. When fully buffed and ready It holds an amazing 1920 power, no crit, no precision. but it does have 1 thing no-one expects: 3750+ armor… Why? Just because I can.
And I will never ever take it into dungeons because it would be a kick in the whatever for my party. would be interesting though to see how much aggro I would pull… Imagine 24% crit chance -with- fury….

I don’t think new tiers is a good idea. Making ascended is already difficult and costly, and if Mursaat can inflict agony, that makes it even worse (as it is, I mostly run exotics, and the meta for this game changes to such an extent that I’m not sure if the stats I pick for ascended armour today will remain relevant tomorrow)

Well I have 8 mains, They have ascended weapons and trinkets, but only 3 have some ascended armor pieces, 1 has 2 full sets.
My 7 alts have all or no ascended trinkets, and only a few have ascended weapons…
I do not expect my exotic alts to be instantly degraded to the “older regions” But I do expect some other uses of agony resist…

But yeah… why not a quest that helps us prepare for HoT? I think that would be a nice bonus. Doesn’t have to be pact related: we could get Adventuretron to takes us on a ‘journey through tyria as its currently known’, with the last stop being the deeper part of the maguuma jungles.

So more dungeons, and mat farming, some wvw leveling, I’m almost silver….,

Maybe craft an ascended GS for my Necro and a Staff for my ranger…
Get mats for an ascended armor for my revenant, Rytlock still has a sword and seemingly a staff….,
Stack up 60 ToK (minimum) for speed leveling so I can instalevel my revenant…Get my 100 scrolls of knowledge some company… cold use a stack, maybe 2 stacks so I’m prepared if some nice legendary comes around…

Dodge useless in Pve

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Dodging is a movement technique used to evade incoming attacks by quickly moving out of the way. A dodge consumes 50 endurance and players have a maximum of 100 endurance. You dodge 300 units over .75 seconds and can dodge in any direction. This speed is fixed and doesn’t change in combat like movement speed. If you are not moving, you will dodge backwards. Some mechanics prevent you from dodging, including being immobilized, immediately after being knocked back, or while under the effects of fear. In addition to its utility to avoiding attacks, several traits and some foods offer special benefits to characters after they dodge.

That’s why some skills tend to use “unblockable”

They’re mostly traps (flowers?) and some mark effects. Which are in the end very similar in nature.

Dodging is the primary way how people stay alive in pve and dungeons, not to mention WvW, as each dodge tend to give you a few tenths of a second of complete invulnerability against all “blockable attacks” which make up 95%, if not more, of all possible skills ingame, allowing you to double dodge through an enemy zerg while they spam you and you’ll stay alive, at least for 1.5 seconds…

I’m not going to be mean, but you should try ity out, the red circles are a marker for any affected area, something is going to hit, so you can dodge, or watch the telegraphs on bosses. (play CoF, p1 at the boss you’ll see a huge red circle now and again, if you wait 2 seconds, maybe 3 then dodge you’ll avoid the attack. If not you’ll be burning. )

Certain attacks are unblockable, yes. and it’s good as is.

if you go 7 ot 8 levels compared to self and any mob that sees you will come running to slaughter you…. Also your armor and weapons will not do much, being 10 levels underleveled will mean even wet noodles will pawn you like there’s no tomorrow…. even with full tank setups…,

You might avoid some but eventually you’ll run into something and you will notice it’s safer to poke a stick into an africanized beehive then it is to move too far ahead.

-Note: if you do ever poke a stick in an africanized beehive you do so at own risk, serious health issues are sure to occur.

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
