Sigil of the night!

Only difference between Frailty and x-Slaying is the fact you can expect dungeon builds to stack vunerability by default (Warrior (the Pug-carrier) will do vulnerability with precision trait line. Guardians tend to take vulnerability on blind or vulnerability on symbols) rangers can stack 20 vulnerability instant with rapidfire and first stikes. necro’s can do a lot of vulnerability, and so on, when having a long fight a water attuned ele will be stacking vulnerability (I’d run vulnerability anyways on a support ele due to the fact you can have 20% additional dmg when target is vunerable…). Though most listed proffesions are rare in some dungeon(s) they can actually improve the party DPS though they seem not to be the ideal choices, but when considering you will not have the need for frailty and can apply another fixed % sigil you’ll understand why the fixed % sigils are usefull in the end…

When 3 people run frailty, you’ll max out vulnerability anyhow, so any stacks above are wasted and so are 2 sigil spaces. I expect most parties to have benefits if 1 or 2 people use frailty.

Also the bonues of x-slaying will be permanent, so you will not have to stack ’m.

But I agree vulnerability will do more dmg then other combos, BUT when vulnerability is up due to 2 or 3 people in your party spamming it on each hit, you will be needing a dedicated set for improved dps, also with 3 warriors taking frailty at all would be a wast of dps as they should be able to stack max vulnerability WITHOUT frailty.

Sigil of Bloodlust is not mentioned in this story anywhere, as the benefits of bloodlust decline when original power is higher, and taking it isn’t worth it even though it can be useful in some situations.
EXPLAIN:
for a ~3000 power warrior 250 additional powerseems a nice 8.33% increase but when considering might the now 3875 power warrior will only gain 6.45%, which will be removed on down and needs to be build up . In all cases it should be said a low power character (read: power as a minor stat) will reap bigger benefits from a sigil of bloodlust (2000 power ->12,5%, 2500 power -> 10%) of course also here bonuses will drop with higher might.

So for short: (%’s of additional dmg above other multipliers)

Sigil of force =5%
Sigil of night =10%
Sigil of force & sigil of night =15.5%
Sigil of x-slaying & sigil of force= 15,5%
Sigil of x-slaying & sigil of night = 21%

Sigil of force & food = 15.5% (general day dungeon)
(Sigil of night & food =21%)
Sigil of force & sigil of night & food = 27% (general night dungeon)
Sigil of x-slaying & sigil of force & food =27% (specific day-dungeon)
Sigil of x-slaying & sigil of night & food= 33% (specific night dungeon)

per person, given they have the same build.

Sigil of the night!

Force and night sigils are popular for certain dungeon and fractal speed clear runs as many dungeons and fractal levels (not all) are set at night. With full zerker groups it adds extra 15% damage per player. Combined with 5 players thats an extra 75% damage output by the party.

No it’s 15% extra per person, so an extra 15% for the party. Combined they fight like 5.75 people that’s true. but thats a 15% increase.

Sigil of the night!

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

People tend to buy it due to the fact it’s a guaranteed boost of 10% in all instances where it is night.

This combines very well with a sigil of x-slaying which is used in a lot of dungeons: you will get a 21% bonus. Which is the highest bonus you can get on weapon. Combined with the dedicated food you’ll have 33,1% bonus, this still excludes bonusses from builds and or runes.

Just for the idea:

sigil of night, adds 10%
(1.1) * dmg
sigil of inquest slaying, adds 10% 21% total!
(1.1*1.1) * dmg = 1.21 dmg
superior potion of inquest slaying, adds10% 33.1% total!
(1.1*1.1*1.1) * dmg=1,331 * dmg

Due to the bonusses are multiplying this will scale up quite considerably depending on builds:

EXAMPLE: Guardian Sword/* with zerk armor of strength: (2/5/0/5/2) (THEORY!)
(the rest also counts for the modifier ofcourse, but will be the same for comparison:)
rune of strength 5% (1.1*1.1*1.1*1.05) (scholar = preferable ->10% above 90% life)
powerful blades 10% (1.1*1.1*1.1*1.05*1.1)
fiery wrath 10% (1.1*1.1*1.1*1.05*1.1*1.1)
radient power 10% (1.1*1.1*1.1*1.05*1.1*1.1)
elusive power 10% (1.1*1.1*1.1*1.05*1.1*1.1*1.1)
unscathed contender 20% (1.1*1.1*1.1*1.05*1.1*1.1*1.1*1.2)

This will amount to bonuses being 2.23 times your original dmg ! (based on strength)
Without food and sigil of night & sigil of x -slaying you are at 1,67 times… (=33,1% difference)
(This will amount to bonuses being 2.34 times your original dmg !(based on scholar, but still 33.1% difference))

Of course enemy must be burning (also fulfills conditions)
and you must be wielding a sword and have less then full stamina, might and aegis or
and you must be wielding a sword and have less then full stamina, above 90% health and aegis…

/EXAMPLE

This is just (part of) the dmg multiplier, AND the power, additional food, might or fury, and /or recharge reductions still need to be taken into account. Due to the multiplication of the bonusses you will end up with a hight amount then 10% after it’s stacked a few times with other bonuses. A 20% reduction in recharge will boost dmg condsiderably… but I’m not going into dmg-chains and such. Just take this as a fact

This is called dungeon-specific gear. it requires special weapons for dungeons or even dungeon paths. It also means you will generally have exotics for this purpose which tend to be 5% less dmg compared to an ascended weapon. An ascended weapon with sigil of night and power will do the same as the several exotic weapon with the enemy specific sigils. The extremest would be a dedicated ascended dungeon weapon of course… But IMHO it’s not that wise to get 8 times the set of ascended weapons for this purpose.

Most “speedruns” are run without food, losing 10% potential dmg, AND without “dungeon specific weapons” losing 33% potential dmg already… sometimes compensated by a sigil of force (5%).

But this type of weapons buffing is generally only used by Speedclear Guilds and is not really relevant for most lvl 80 zerk ppl, als long as they do not take an effort to max out. (READ: use food, builds, dedicated weapons, optimized parties, full buffs (yes thats 25 stacks of might, fury banners (=warrior pug carrier?))

Even if they would be doing so they would need to find 4 like minded ppl fitting the optimized party, but when it’s achieved a party can do 33% more dmg, without any effort at all.

Thus making your 5 person party a 6.66 person party… (just by swapping a weapon and taking some food and taking several nearly the same weapons) compared to 5 people using the same builds and gear, but not using the sigils AND the food.

IMHO if people would stack, use optimized builds & gear AND the food, would buff and would be using the dungeon specific sigils all DUNGEON content would be faceroll instantaneous….

About Ultra Requirements

I run a hex core i7 (3930K @3.8Ghz) w. 32 Gb RAM, on a ASUS Rampage IV Extreme, 2 Nvidia GTX 780 (nonTi @ stock) in SLI with a 1920*1200 game screen and a 1920*1080 secondary screen. (Yes Rampage IV has a X79 chipset and thus 40 PCI-E channels and has 2 slots for PCI-E 16x (and 2 additionals for lower end speeds (1crd16; 2crd16,16; 3crd16,8,16; 4crd 16,8,8,8)

Full 60 FPS permanently seems impossible during prime time (17:00-02:00 CET) due to the other party considerations by the game engine: needing to send & receive data regarding those players. Not so much CPU or GPU. The amount of other players seem to cap the game, not the computer.

I’m using Windows 7 Ultimate, so I have modded the registry (and need to do so each time I update the drivers) to have my rig use 2x PCI-E 16x v3.0 , as Windows 7 doesn’t support PCI-E v3.0 and defaults to PCI-E v2.0 (losing half of the possible bandwith in the process.) simple change to registry removes this problem.

For a huge performance increase put reflections to water & sky instead of ALL. It gives me about 15-25% more FPS
And I always use my second screen, so I’m playing windowed full screen… Which tends to lower FPS
I am capped at 63 the better part of the time, due to the fact I can heat my room cheaper other ways. But when unleashed I get:
(At all max settings:)
35-80 FPS in LA (depending on crowd) avg 40-60
60-140 in maps (depending on crowd) avg 80
up to 200+ FPS in enclosed areas without crowd (peak 224 (well highest was 278 but standing with my character against the wall))
(but watching the walls is boring.)
24-140 FPS at boss fights depending on crowd avg 35-70 (
16-45 in WVW (huge) zerg fights depending on crowd. avg 24-30 (generally running high/high instead of highest/highest)
45-70 during running in wvw avg about 54 (in zerg)
100-180 during solo in wvw avg about (115)
ALL on WINDOWED FULLSCREEN mode while using 2nd screen (browser(s)/video players)

I agree 16 GB is mostly overkill, but I prefer to have instant swaps, and I tend to have more software in memory then just gw2, a videoplayer and a browser… 32Gb is overkill (And I tend to use 12-16 Gb as Ram disk when needing ultra fast loading times.)

CPU wise I tend not to get above 40%, generally when playing gw2 I do not even get above 30% , Gw2 is 32 bit so the program will not use 4 Gb’s + as it cannot be adressed. Your own system if running 64bit can adress more of course, but gw2 will not use more then 4 Gb. Never.

When at full force the pc does what it should do. The videocards do so as well.. They sometimes reach max , but it’s mostly when big changes occur, zerg direction swaps, big zerg vs zerg fights. a blob engaging a boss fight. and they will be at lower loads quite soon after (read seconds max.), leaving the PC overpowered or the gw2 engine to inept to fully use the systems potential. Using other post processing seems to make the load a little higher, but I prefer to keep everything as A-Net made it.
Also keep in mind I tend to watch video while playing quite often. Full screen, mostly Mkv. It also put some load. Still no maxing-out of system.
Only when running scans and doing video recording and conversion at same time as playing and watching video I tend to usereally use some power (70-85% CPU), and use some memory (8-12 Gb’s) and reach GPU limits. but Gw2 alone will not stress the system.

i7 3930K @3.8 Ghz (running Win 7 Ultimate)

Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 Mainboard
1 OCZ Vertex 4 256Gb (system/programs)

Retaliation - once per sec

While we are getting off-track now I want to make just 1 comment on blind and aegis.

“They trigger only once, after being applied.”

Thats it.

P.S.

P.S. changing how some skill works isn’t a solution – it just sidesteps over the issue, as the only way there is as now would be making them deal less hits.

Maybe you are right, but as the OP feels the problem of to many triggers causes him to much health loss to be comparable to other proffesions, the fact remains the amount of triggers should be adressed as this is seemingly the problem. The fact that those amounts of triggers are also rewarded by applying multiple applications of conditions or maybe even boons due to the sole fact there are huge amount of triggers is the other side of the medal. If you modify one the other will suffer.

Nothing in this world is for free… I could say well just remove retal all together, and you would alleviate the problem for engineers… But doing so would create problems for guardians (= big part of proffesion mechanic), rangers, necro’s, mesmers, warrios and engineers.
The engineer would benefit and get hurt, I doubt many would care, BUT it would also remove your own counter vs grenade engineers, please take some time to think it through.

For all channeled skills goes the actual dmg per proc is quite low, but the amount of procs stacks the damage. This means the dmg received by retaliation is higher compared to single hit skills, due to the higher number of procs. This is your problem again, an the solution it the same as with the multi-proc in grenades, reducing the amount of procs

This could be rectified as well; by lowering the amount of procs, but on the negative side of this change would be the fact moving targets could pass the stream of fire and get no dmg at all… as they could be doing so at a moment when the channeled skil doesn’t proc.
This as the duration would stay the same so the time between the procs is extended. Else it would be a DPS change. (proccing less for the same dmg in a shorter time will be a DPS boost and would be unwanted….

It isn’t retaliation which is bad, it’s seems to be the implementation of the engineer skills with repect to all other classes’ skill implementation, which seems to cause the problem ….
And still I’d say removal, nerfing or reducing the dmg or the number of procs of retalition would be a bad thing, as it would require so much reblancing for guardians, rangers, mesmers, warriors and necro’s…. additional skill and trait rework. While these things seem to be related to Engineer skills. SO I’d again advise to rework the engineers skills to proc less.

And an addition to the previous remark about the difference between retaliation and reflects, reflects only bounce ranged projectile attacks, retaliation procs on any damage received

Why should all game mechanics be removed? Understand that immobilizes and retaliation have uses as well. Complaints seem to be made by people on th receiving end but they do not seem to use the mechanics at all…

If you know retaliation to be so powerful, why not make use of it yourself? same for immobilizes IMHO.

One difference though:

Retaliation returns a small amount of dmg when hit
so I attack and I get 400 dmg per hit and other gets full hit

Reflects return the attack, no hit.
so I attack and get hit myself (full hit) and other gets no dmg.

Engineers are moving AOE-machine: enemies cannot avoid his damage very well, and it’s not predictable. And not too big. Also, Engi has a very bad times to selfheal, bcs all Retaliation damage coming up in the same moment. It cannot be compared with any another class.

And Engi cannot just stop attacking when Retaliation starts coming: bcs enemies zerg will steamroll him and his allies zerg. Also when Retal will sart coming he is already will lost a half of HP, because of number of attacks and it’s timing.

I doubt engineer is the only class with bad heals, and retaliation can be dangerous for anyone. It is comparable except for the fact grenades tend to trigger retaliation more often, mostly due to the fact there are more and they explode more. 1 grenade skill can hit 15 ppl and thus trigger 15 times, I understand. 1 meteorshower can trigger 72 times. It’s the same as you casting all 5 grenade skills…

And when fighting a zerg anybody will be overrun without backup, but you could choose not to hit the pain train and move to the backline. You need to adapt to changing battlefield circumstances.

My examples are comparable non-the-less, and it is understandable for much of the PVE public who will all get this force fed as well, if applied…. This as any change is for all 3 modes of gameplay.

I do play Staff elementalist and zerk in WvW: Imagine a zerg at a gate and throwing a MS on it, a FS and a lavafont. guess the outcome if they do have retal? You guessed right, even though you deny it.
And I have destroyed myself before, when I run out of luck: it’s when guards (swifness) symbols are blasted. It happens when they are smart and have some shortbow thieves,(warhorns, banners, or ele’s, and so on)

So I’d recap and suggest:

Problem:
The only difference is you get 3 procs of damage and thus retaliation on 1 throw of grenades for EACH enemy with retaliation and all other classes just 1. If you traited grenadier, that is. Without grenadier trait it’s 2 times. This also corresponds with conditions. For each grenade you hit with it triggers once.

Solution 1: (requires engineer only gamechange)
We could have the damages of the grenades combined so you have 1 grenade and only 1 damage proc for 2 or 3 times the damage? (2 or 3 depending on the grenadier trait?). In game you would end up only throwing 1 grenade which will be 2 or 3 times as powerfull instead of 2 or 3 grenades. You’d lose the benefits of the grenades proccing 3 times,(no longer 15 possible targets but 5) but it would be a small price to pay for less retaliation damage?
I’d advise not to take the full condition duration time (2 times or 3 times) as the grenades used to scatter, so I’d suggest only a % of the condition duration combined. Else I’d consider it a buff on grenades.

Solution 2: (requires another sigil or mesmer or necro support)
Equip a sigil of purity and hope it procs removing his boon on hit. Or use a mesmer or necro.
You do not lose the procs on hit, but whne they have the retal covered you will get a lot of dmg, not changing anything compared to before.

Solution 3: (requires an engineer build change)
Do not use a grenade pack? Well other weapons will proc less, and a flamethrower is comparable to rapidfire, or breath of flames (ele D/D skill?) It is the easiest change by far.

Solution 4: (game change requiring complete rethink and total revamp of guardian mechanics, destroying retaliation as boon and requiring rebalancing of retaliation for warriors, rangers, necros, mesmers, and guardians. Oh and I forgot for: Engineers )
Change the fequency of retaliation triggers to max 1 time per second. When you attack 1 person it will lower your damage, when attacking 5 people you will still get 5 procs as enemies individually run retaliation. Just once due to the cap though
Debalancing the game and rebalancing will take a while. It will destroy builds and traits for certain builds while they are not having problems at the moment.
It would be the most extreme of measures and would affect a huge part of the proffessions. In effect it would render a boon useless, It would render a lot of traits useless, several skills useless….

Conclusion: These 4 options would ALL solve your problem. Think about it? Any choice would make your problem the same as any other class. These 4 solutions would all remove the reason why you call for this change and make you as vulnerable for retaliation damage as any other.

Full zerk ele’s will do 6500-8000 dmg vs a no toughness enemy, depending on amount of might. If this would proc for 20% all 24 times on 3 targets each… would be OP, but pls look here :

These calculations do assume ALL targets have retaliation up.

As it is now at ~400 per hit:
400 retal dmg*3 targets =1200 dmg
1200*24 meteors -28800 dmg.

As it would be for 1 hit per second
400*3 targets =1200 dmg
1200*8 meteors= 9600 dmg

When applying 20% from retaliation.
(considering 7500 dmg as base: )
7500*0.2=1500 dmg (being the amount retalled)
1500*3 targets= 4500 dmg (per 3 targets hit)
4500*24 meteors = 108000 dmg vs self (for 24 meteors)

As it would be for 1 hit/ second
1500*3 targets= 4500 dmg
4500*8 meteors = 27000 dmg.

As a zerk ele has about 12000 life, this damage would let it be killed by retaliation. It would requiere a good set of null field mesmers and boon stripping necro’s to keep any aoe dealing attackers up… But when having 1 proc per second the dmg would seem okay, thi is when EVERYBODY WHO IS HIT ACTUALLY HAS RETALIATION….

If not: Calculations for 1 target with retal, same numbers:

As it is now at ~400 per hit
400*24 meteors -9600 dmg. = survivable

As it would be for 1 hit per second
400 *8 meteors= 3200 dmg =laughable

When applying 20% from retaliation.
(considering 7500 dmg as base: )
7500*0.2=1500 dmg (being the amount retalled)
1500*24 meteors = 36000 dmg vs self (for 24 meteors) Causes real problems

As it would be for 1 hit/ second
1500*8 meteors = 9000 dmg. = survivable.

Comparable caculations could be made for a rapid fire ranger with piercing arrows. and of course grenade engineers, BUT 20% is a big change compared to 400 points.

I would vote against 1 proc per second. AND I would be in favor for a BUFF to retaliation dmg and to have it scale of BOTH power and condition damage combined. This would also mean condition players can keep using this boon. It would also mean somebody playing with hybrid dmg as rampager/sinister/carrion would get a slight buff. it’s just a remark

To answer this thread more constructively:

In my opinion Retaliation should not be modified to reduce return of damage to players at a maximum of 1 time per second. It would make the effects no longer worth playing with Retaliation. It would effectively cancel out the effects of retaliation, Even if this 1 time per seond would trigger for every player attacking the player with retaliation.

Retaliation has no real function other then discouraging players from ganging up on a single player and just zerging him to shreads with no change of returning any damage.

There are still plenty of builds which are single or dual target on weapon, while a grenade enegineer could hit 3 grenades*5 ppl= max15 ppl at once with one skill? Ofcourse depending on spread? I understand you can hit somebody 15 times in seconds (5 grenade skills and grenadier trait) . A grenade engineers grenades are only outclassed by the Meteor Shower… and MS has a 35 second CD…

Boon stripping still is very important and general practise in WvW, to remove stability, protection and retaliation… Necro’s and Mesmers are there for your zergs boon stripping. Well of Suffering, Null field and Sigil of purity would be very beneficial

I’m getting used to new dailies, BUT lvl 80’s doing dailies in >lvl 15 areas tend to make it difficult for others to tag.

I ALSO do not mind world bosses but make sure I can do ‘m (bi)-HOURLY. It’s not like the diaper of my 3 month old will wait until I ‘m finished doing the claw of jormag, tequatl or the wurm… and missing those tends to give a problems needing me to wait 2-3 hours…which will mean I will not have time and need to make due with other stuff… I’m waiting for an oops like Big world boss/Fractals Daily/Orr event completed. Stuff needs to be completable in ~1,5 hours MAX (fractal run)

will other stats in pve ever rival berserker?

Oh and for full dmg : there are 4(5) stats sets viable in the present meta:

[] Zerk (5/5)
[] Sin (assasin) (4,5-5/5)
[] Sin (Sinister) (4/5)
[] Zealot (4/5)
()(Celestial (3,75/5))
—————————————————————————-
Valkyrie (3,5/5)
Knights (3,5/5)
Cavaliers (3,5/5)
Rampagers (3,5/5)
Carrion (3/5)
Soldiers (2,5/5)
Clerics (2/5)
Sentinel (1,5/5)
—————————————————————————-
Defensive sets/full condi sets. Well Not to be rude but these stats have not function in dungeons other than to stay alive no matter what, But remember Toughnes does nothing vs conditions…
———————————————————-
(remotely viable)
Rabid (3,5/5)
Dire (2,5/5)
——————————————————-
Settler (1,5/5)
Shaman (1,5/5)
Aphothecary (1/5)
Giver’s (0/5)
Magi (0/5)
Nomad (0/5)

4 big problems need to be adressed before other stats get viable,

1 the dmg scaling should be so other characters wanting to play condition do enough dmg, Healing Scaling should be adressed as well..
2) conditions should be able to affect objects. (see also 3)
3) the “condition weapons” need some sort of basic attack which does scale with strength AND/OR condition dmg, sword still is a mediocre dmg weapon for warrior for example… I would like to see that buffed, I’d like it buffed by just having the condi dmg added to the dmg calculations even if it was only a %.
4) something should happen with excess conditions. I do not mind secondary conditions like heamoraghing, brain freeze, immolation, additional thing for poison…,broken armor for a couple of second when stacks are full… as long as dmg is possitively affected. This as the caps seem to be made wiotrh reasons and we still need something to circumvent this.

will other stats in pve ever rival berserker?

I do not care for the use, misuse and abuse of the meta. I’ve ran with zerk groups, good zerk groups are very nice. Good “non-meta” groups (which includes a big portion of the non zerks who still want to play fast can be very powerfull as well. It is a different playstyle.

Zerk tend to be either very focussed with powerresses if needed, good stacking, good might boosting and so on, but good non zerk parties tend to be even more effective in stacking and buffing. And they will use food bettter then zerks. in whcih case they tend to rival with non-fed zerkers….. I sometimes wonder why people do not want a +10% dmg boost and -10 dmg recieved when they are already at 3500-3700 power.

Problems arise wiith newer players as they can break stack, get frustrated by dying a lot or otherwise not staying up.

More problems tend to arise when you find multiple people playing semi or full condi. Someone running a decent build with power and conditions will always be a loss of dps. 2 people make it a lost cause as they tend to block eachother out. the lack of dps on the condition applying weapons is a big factor in this. I can stack 25 stacks of bleeds but if the bleeds are not applied the dmg of a sword for warrior is hopeless, you still have 1 or 2 skills whcih tend to do some dmg, but at huge cooldowns,

But I still prefer 2 zerks 1 zerk guardian , 1 zealots or zerk ele and a semi condtions player, with preferably poison chill and confusion and/or interupts. They’ll never be as fast as zerks, due to the lack of some fercocity for some helaing and some conditions….

I did the 3 day mission, jumped all the puzzles, well tbh I was portalled @ pig iron, but anyways I got all the childrens toys and WHAT HAPPENS?

I cannot give ‘m back? I went through all this trouble, and I’m not allowed to give ’m back? I get a winterday tree as thank you, 2 titles and all, But I still have their presents???

Please allow me to give them. If I wanted 6 exotic rare celestial trinkets I would have made them long ago (you cannot) I’d keep ’m, but I feel they should get their stuff back. * And I still feel this way*

(I do not even want anything in return)

(but if Santa and/or Tixx is reading: I’ll put ’m under the tree, maybe you can provide me a Wintersday Skin (account bound?)?)

Sinsiter Mighty Pet advice.

in Ranger

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

I run a ranger, well to be honest I run 3 rangers, 2 are lvl 80 this is about the second lvl 80. The first uses a DPS Longbow & Greatsword build and I’m fine with the dmg and the utility.

The 2nd lvl 80 has an exotic Sinister armor (CONDI DMG,Power, Precision), Strength runes and uses a hybrid might pet build. It’s Weapons are Exo Sinister as well, trinkets Asc Rampager.
Weapons are A+T and SB sigils are Strength and Bloodlust.
Utilities vary. (Healing Spring, Sic’m (Free 40% dmg?), 2 of: SoHunt ,SoWild, QZephyr, SStone, and oftenRaO)

I have a not so common build I guess:
0
2 V (crits give might to pet),
minor: swiftnes on w swap
3 V (pet deals extra condition dmg,+350 condi dmg while in combat ),
minor:Endurance regen +25% & player&pet get protection on dodge
3 V (power based on vitality,)
minor: regen when under 75% health & any boon you get is shared with pet (says all, but in desc is no stability)
6 II, (Masters bonds, up to 200 additional points for pet in basic stacks)
VII, (rending strikes, any crit does bleeding)
XII (regen for pet)
Minor: when downed pet gets quickness, reduced pet swap, power based on healing

I use a salamander drake (fire cone), a reef drake (confusion cone)
A shark underwater… (bleeds) Other one tends to vary as I haven’t found a decent underwater per other then the shark

This gives me a buffable pet, I can stack 25 might on it with an axe in about 3-4 seconds when under influence of fury, and I’ll be running 15-25 might myself. When the pet is fully buffed it does good dmg, some bleeding, and the ranger can keep some bleeding, poison, burning, chill, daze and cripple if needed;
At max stacks, The drakes while in combat with the max stacks become a lumbering monstrocities with perma 1175 condi dmg and 3000+ power , 2500 toughness and 3935 vitality… My educated guess is it has 30-35% base crit chance… with fury 50%+

The Ranger has 1934 power, 53% crit, 1020 condition dmg 1076 toughness and vitality, 300 healing. no real ferocity, when playing this is buffed (in my case by pizza and toxic sharps & bloodlust &15 might on self with 2 enemies) for an additional 925 power, 595 condi dmg and 50% condi duration) if others are stacking might it will of coure give max stacks and corresponding buffs…

I have 2 main questions,

1) would using a dagger offhand next to the torch be better? I need to flank for bleeds on SB, and the dagger has very short cooldowns for a cripple and bleed and a poison if needed, main difference is the poison of SB is piercing and ranges to 900 while the dagger is a melee (probably single target weapon) and a loss of an interupt.
2) I like the build and it does reasonable dmg, but its heavily dependent on the pet. I can buff the pet with nearly everything except stability But would you take these pets & traits into combat? If not, what would you change give the fact it leans on might and threrefore with a sinister armor on BOTH power and precision?

And yes, I ignore any condi removal as the pet is frontline and I’m just trying too keep the stacks up, I can place HS when I want to…

New player - How do I make this "fun"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

First: A-Net has simplified things too far….

The game used to have abit more interesting levelling and a possibility to experience builds, Not no more. The “new player” experience destroyed it. So no more new players, at least not MMO vets..

The game used to be a bit more difficult, not so difficult you had to try in the first well 35 levels or so but it was a bit more difficult. You could get to low health before, now when starting a new character I do not bother to move away when going to the toilet. I just let it stand, repair is no problem, death penalty is a laugh. When returning to low level area’s for map you notice with weak weapons (exp: warrior-sword) you oneshot everything, and with strong weapons (exp: warrior axe/GS) you destroy vets as well…

At lvl 30 you can do the first story mode dungeon, at lvl 35 the first explorable dungeon, which are reasonable. I have had fun in dungeons, lately many peopl seem to be in a hurry for story dungeons and want to skip everything not only meaning cinematics.

At lvl 31 you will get your elite skill you will ffeel like you have a build then, but the trait system is missing. untill you have some time spend and some cash (say at lvl 60 you can get a decent basics build, some more decent armor, some runes, and get playing), and…

At lvl 80 you can get dressed up and well, play dress up. That’s what’s it about. Dress up. Playing with virtual puppets. and doing some dungeons, fractals and a well mostly interesting story which tends to have extremely weak moments. only 2 things have aver been difficult in this game, 1 being liadri, 2 finding harder then average content. It is a pass time, not a challenge. For a challenge I’d muster on an international boat or join the military…

IMHO the difficulty of dungeon paths is low to very low once you know the paths. some will require some good explanation what to do. Some will be impossible if you cannot communicate.

The difficulty of the personal story is well, baby to infant level but mostly before 4 yrs old. If you can build Duplo^tm you’d probably get through the story…

The difficulty of LS is reasonable as long as you do the achievements, which will require to do most things twice or thrice…

WvW can be interesting because you play players. so can pvp, but I’m a pvE and wvw player so I do not have a well rounded opinion on pvp yet.

I can safely say if you like it you can find things to do so you keep liking it for a while, and if you do not I’d buy something else after levelling the first character to 80 and you did dungeond/fractals/wvw/pvp a few times. Or you can skip it and leave it.

It’s a (very) easy MMO. and they do not have a real grind. they do have the idea collecting a couple thousand badges is a great thing to do…. and it’s boring, even though the mechanics to do so are well thought out it’s lame as KiTtEn to make people do the same content over and over( it is not yet a horrible grind, just a grind… , this also tends to go for the holiday events, wintersday being the same stuff as the previous years, like halloween and so on.)

I got 14 lvl80’s again (just deleted 2, and relevelled 1) and I’ve seen most of this game now. It can be slow sometimes, but it’s not meant to be hard. It’s meant to be fun…. it’s a game.

But I love GW2 . And I will be playing it for a while to come. And all of the above mean I can jump in when I want can do it with newbs and vets alike. Vets to do it fast and efficient or newbs to have a challenge.

Spend 5500 hours since pre-start, have 16 slots, 15 charactes 14 lvl 80’s, 2 legendaries. been guild leader, officer and dungeon speed clear player. wvw player….

But if you want to try it you should go for it cokmpletely and not be bothered by the levelling for the first time, it’s a bore. The game starts when in lvl 80 exotics, even if there is no classic “endgame”.

Questions from a Returning Player

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

1) Rendering got a bit better during the pasty 2 years bit it’s not perfect, It is quite a bit better though then before IMHO.
2) NO, powerful yes, but sniping warrior is rare nowadays… Warrior is no longer the most powerful class by far…. some people say other proffesions rival dps of warriors now. I prefer playing on a lot of different classes and in my opinion warrior stay s relatively powerful with low effort, other classes will outdmg warriors (Ele, Thief, Guard for example.)
3) DUNNO? Use your settings panel? Ctrl+T for targetting?

4) Official cap is 300 from OWN luck gain , this doesn’t include food and utility, (Magic find and/or laureate) boosters, (guild) banners, fires, celebration/birthday boosters. guild bonus and magic find infusion and in SW you can get an additional 150% temporarily for that region only.

I estimate max MF will be above:
300 base (Luck)
60 from food/utils (halloween util/MF food
100 birthday/celebration booster (yr old char/ lucky drop BL chest)
50 magic find (booster BL chest/BLTP
30 laureate magic find (buyable for laurels
10/15 magic find/heroes banner (guild missions/commendations(/laurels?))
10 guild (from guild upgrades)
20 magicfind infusion (on asc amulet)
——-
570% MF? total?
(50 bonfire) (didn’t test for stack)
I didn’t count the Magic find from achievementpoints.

5) Fractals yes some are very fanatic, mostly lvl 39 in my guild)
6) I do not fully understand, You can throw 4 rares in the forge and get a 20-25% on a exotic? if you want to craft them you need to buy inscriptions at releated trader/ find them in the world or buy them at TYP, not all stat combo’s are craftable.
7) Agony is a special condition to lvl 10 and above fractals only. It’s resisted by making sure you do not get it from fractals opponents through good dodges (whcih works a good deal of the time but not always and AGONY RESIST (AR) ( these things with a +5 AR rating are buyable from the BUY golem in fractals for 75 tokens, also you will get +1 agony resists (AR) from doing fractal levels, these can be combines for much higher agony resist values… (can be bought on TP for exorbitant amounts of cash)) DAMAGE done by agony is a % of your health, and rises with higher levels of fractals. this % drops with higher AR (agony resist,)
8)CoF p1 and 2? yes? sometimes I get the idea AC is a bit more popular, but I do not know, I run CoF on a daily or mostly daily basis

I just do not understand we need specific world bosses now, I have 2 childrena and a family, and I never do triple trouble, and very, very, rarely go to Tequatl… Just because I do not have the time. Let’s see the temple of grenth appear next… nice and random spawn, and see how many peole like waiting forrever and having noobs doing the defence event if we need the conquer event for example. that wouldn’t be outrage, it would just mean people go and play something else, and ignore dailies.

And oh now we got to do pvp and wvw so we can be “whole” players? Who says so?

If A-Net thinks 10 AP’s is a better incentive then actual LOOT AT THE KITTEN EVENTS… Well: They are dumber then Skritt!

Maybethe people are at Ooze level and not the Chromatic ones, just the plain Yellow ones, those with immobilize. That’s what they do, they immobilize the game . Luckily they still haven’t evolved to Destroyers… (I hope….)

Incentive to help others...?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Well just remade my 14th lvl character as I deleted my 2 asura… I used a lot of dungeon runs and ppl are a lot more biased then when starting gw2…

Before you could run AC and have a nice/good party with 5 ppl wearing rare armors. Now I run the group with 4 ppl using lower level armor of diferent levels and 1 lvl 80. The level 80 asked us : I thought you needed to be lvl 80 Exotic to run dungeons…? And I answered him anything lvl 35 and up would do as long as it is masterwork or better we had a lvl 36, a lvl42, a lvl 58, and a lvl 72 as others.. and we finished the whole run, just wiped at Kohler once… we had 1 actual newer person (the lvl 80) >1000 AP he wiped at all bosses. the others were experienced players ranging from 3000 to 16000 points. This just shows the wrong ideas people have, the fact you need some familiarity with paths, and the fact rares are plenty in AC, tbh CM and TA can be run in greens or yellows as well. without problems, so can SE and COF if needed, without wipes as long as you know how to dodge and use a character.

I do not mind doing dungeon runs, but it would be nice if people tend to respect the lfg codes normally,

I ran a nice 80 EXP Cof with my just lvl 80 new necro to find people who just started not being able to run balls and keep in the braziers for the door opening event. I was in CoF p1 for 25 minutes with 4 repeated allied deaths at the door before a lvl 80 warrior ragequitted, because he was explained he should stay at the brazier…

We got the door almost 3 times before (all same reason) and the fact people need teaching runs isn’t a problem. It is a problem people refuse to admit they’re new, use DPS, Zerk or Exp groups while oblivious what to do.

I have seen the return of the bearbow LB&SB, the 5 signet ranged warrior, condimancers, the clerics guard, and P/D & SB thieves all in groups they shouldn’t be….

I really hate running in with a D/D build and eventually killing a boss then noticing I’m the last one standing, it shows me I lost oversight, and nobody wants to res…

I hate leechers, people say DPS is everything, griefers, ragers, quiters, rangers (except ele’s and occasionally rangers), non-ressers, elitists, noobs, bigmouths, and people not being honest about builds when I ask them.

I do not mind teaching, advising, pointing, giving tips, wiping at somthing which is new to people, newbies, below 80’s as long as people stay respectful and patient.

The fact ppl finished their lvl 80 yesterday and bought a exotic/ascended zerk armor
doesn’t make ’m leet, nor does DPS or elitism.

1337 is being able to do whatever you need to finish, no matter what, not hitting the boss knowing you’ll die, but taking 3secs to stay alive then but killing it so you do not need to rerun, ressing when possible or running on if not, staying ooc if needed and 1337=/= speedrunning. 1337 is respecting all players even though they might not be your level as long as they’re trying and willing to learn. And I’m not 1337, I am me. I cannot melee Lupi because only 2 people ever tried to show me 2 yrs ago. And I do not care…I just run the basics. AC 1,2,3, TA fw/up, SE 1,3 CoF 1,2, CoE 1,2,3… I did all. Have been dungeon master for 18+ months or so.

And no I’m not a meta elitist but seeing 3 condi builds in1 group makes me sigh…., get on my Staff Nuker Ele and carry dungeons as long as people listen and stay respectfull. I’ll walk to the boss and cast 2 elementals, elemental powder, icebow, firestorm, MS and then hope for the best… And I’ll teach people if they want to, but I need to know they do NOT know. If people wipe and start raging everbodies bad while they couldn’t stay up…. well, GL & HF, alone…

Though member of dungon guilds before, just pugging for the last 18 months. less then 1 failed run /month. about 125-250 dungeon paths a month.

Vexx Lair (dungeon?), a dragon (guess?), the dominion of winds(here birdy, birdy, birdy? ? Dervishes? Return to the white mantle and revisiting of the bloodstones… (Maybe even the mursaat, with agony and the ring of fire?) YES YES??

Something like Dry top and Silverwastes just will not cut it anymore… I love the areas, they are nice have a beautiful environment, but we need something BIG

I would like to see this available to players again. It used to be PvP bound. It isn’t available anymore. I would like to unlock it and use it, but there is no way i can get it

[&C5sGAAA=] head
[&C1sGAAA=] mantle
[&Cz8GAAA=] vest
[&C4UGAAA=] trousers
[&Cz4GAAA=] legs
[&C2IGAAA=] shoes

It is still in the code as other players unlocked it in PvP It used to be a PVP-masquerade set, (pls be sure not to confuse it with the rare masquerade armor which is craftable (rare light)) We just need a vendor or way of aquiring.

Pretty PLEASE?

I do not mind paying karma, wvw tokens or gold or gems. I just want ot be able to use it, I like the (lack of) footwear feet on charr…

Why we can`t use DPS meter?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DPS groups thrive by conditions and buffs, maximizing DPS mean you are not contributing to the party in keeping people alive. It just means you want to press buttons for damage. Dps is negatively affected by protection, regn, aegis, and often blinds, weakness and so on. Sometimes there are synergies of course…

Why we can`t use DPS meter?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

DPS meters would only be borderline usefull to people who do extreme speedclears, all other wannabees should just say no. There is no need.

If you’d be using the
-wisest of setups,
-and food/
-full buffs/
-perfect reflects/
-dedicated dungeons weapons. (yes different GS’s for all dungeons, ore whatever dungeon you roll, 2 differnt ones for paths in COE and SE, if I’m right. People in a speedclear guild I knew had 9 ascended GS’s on 1 character. some with night and type some with force and type. It’s probably very usefull…. I can imagine getting 21% free dmg from you (G)sword outweighs fire and bloodlust.)
-optimize swapping ,
-continiously use speedboosts,
-have noone slack off due to full inventories and stuff ( AND you shouldn’t take the box anyways as it costs time in a speedrun, but wait weren’t we doing a run for the drops? NO! just for speed not even cash, pressing F can take a couple of seconds if you are not in the right place if you kill your boss… and might have you standing wrong)
- turn of the phones when doing speedruns, or throw your mobile phone in the toilet or give it to a friendly neighbourhood hobo… sell the dog give, your wife away…
On and on….
If you do all this and know your path: You’d be very fast.

Else do not bother with dps meters…. When you look at the meter instead of Alpha
(example) you die, then you do 0 dps and wreck peoples run…. showing you are not in the league for a DPS meter, and not for a speedrun…

If you do know how to do speedruns, you will not need a dps meter as well: as it’s a waste of computer power and attention you should focus on the game, your roulation of skills… Your utilities, all…things important…

Conclusion DPS meters are useless, is the final conclusion.

(note: Of course not everyone is using GS’s but he was rolling warrior.)

Expansion wont satisfy me

This thread makes me laugh. Brace yourselves! Winter(sday) is coming!

AGAIN

rant:

I am really wondering, I actually enjoy playing the living story, BUT how nice chapter 5 was with the glint’s cave, chapter 6 and 7 haven’t really been my thing, especially 7 while there is a lovely JP, I do not care much for JP’s and the looking for coins is TIRESOME! I’ve seen looking for coins several times in a row now, guessing they have had such a brain freeze they now cannot thing of anything else, Or there is someone actually there who likes the coin achievements. I play for fun, and If I cannot play a story I do dungeons, or some WvW (or EotM if I need cash) or make a new alt atm, as the coin things are, oh a coin, NICE, lets wait 2 days and just look ‘m up using dulfy, I like to play something immersive, no Oh look I am a number geek I just wanna look for scattered AP’s not 5 difficult ones, no 2 difficult ones and 28 simpler, but which take abouy 2-5 minutes each. leaving me with 2 hours less play time for decent content. Oh wait…, Skritt!! There is no new content… or is there. I like dry top and silverwastes, but I really dislike the grindfest you turned it into..

2 children, a wife and a dog tend to take some of my time, leaving me with well 1-2 hours daily to do your grind fest, could make it 4 or 5 but it would mean I need to stop doing dungeons, helping guildies and stop being co-leader to the guild I help run. Then when a new thing gets available just make it soulbound or account bound, because everybody should farm fior themselves, it’s really demotivating TP stockbrokers… Oh wait, my friend just bough his last legendary…

He’s wondering what to buy next now he has all legendaries, all contracts, all dyes, all skins and all ascendeds, except from a few pvp -bound only. Yes he did what I didn’t: he ignored all content and just made 35k + gold on the TP in 14 months. I am struggling with 2 ascended armors and 2 legendaries since prerelease. This isn’t about the game anymore, It’s about stockbrokers and wageslaves.

A good expansion would satisfy a loty of people, we could get new races, a new proffesion, maybe 2 or maybe 4. we could get dungeons, new jumping puzzles and so on. I do not mind if they give it after this 8th patch which should have been launched around 16 dec to keep people happy during the holidays….. I hate wintersday and christmas as well. Just because. And No I’m not Scrooge.

Wintersday is the 3rd time, I hope there is something better then Tixx’s blimp filled with mad puppets and toy soldiers this time. I have little fun in wintersday, halloween and the ninni-tendo crap in rata sum.

Is there any tactical aspect in group fights?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

It also exists in bigger zerg fights (WvW), where you need to stay on the commander and keep control& stack while moving when in melee or when you are ranging the enemy blob and try to stay out of the pain-train’s attack radius.
It might look very big and messy, but tbh is either one should be the place you need to be, or not at all need to be depending on role. so far for combat strategy, combat tactics are your individual or party location within this fight. Even if you fight against a blob of bigger then yours is you can makea big difference trying to keep out of trouble and be buffed and shielded while keeping ful dmg on the enemy. Worst thing is 2 blobs merging and be stuck in 1 position as it does no longer have any tactics or strategy and it just becomes a numbers fight, leaving the side with most people as the victor.

So wvw strategy:
1) if you are the bigger group, overwhelm the others, preffereably after having enemy spend cooldowns & stability.
2) if you are the smaller group , stay out of the enemy (melee)group and try to disable and scatter the big group if possible. when the big group is scattered find the lowest concentration of players and wipe them, then move on to the next small fragment.

WvW tactics
1) make sure enemy spends as much skills/utiliies and dodges on empty ground, never stop moving.
2) always look for the lowest density spread of players and engage them, else look for the squishiest classes, normally being the support group
3) stay with others at all times. It doesn’t matter if you are pain train, support or hitsquad.
4) when you are not able to survive in the melee train, stay out of the train(s) and rangebomb the enemy as support, or the other enemy support group (generally light classes maybe with some guard protection. else mesmers need to be very fast in decisions)
5) If you cannot bomb or melee, try to go after individuals around the blob and kill them (hitsquad) (this would be rangers/thieves(/engineers) vs ele’s, necro’s and mesmers)

Making other PvE stat combos viable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Assassin and zerker are DPS
Zealot is DPS Support
Sinister, Rampager, Carrion are Hybrid
Shaman, Rabid and Settler, Dire, Apothecary are Condi with a bit of tankyness…
Soldiers, Knights, Valkyrie, Cavalier are to add a bit of tankyness to your build
Clerics is for tanky power healing builds

All of the above have uses some more niche then others.
If you’re just doing the triple trouble and tequatl I can imagine you have no neeed for precision and ferocity, as you cannot crit the 2 bosses… opening some other sets.
If you only want 1 armor and need some toughness as you want to run EotM and/or WvW I imagine you’d choose something else then zerk/zealot/sin/sinister or rampager
Making a choice for armor is quite interesting. We do not have armors with free to use stats…(yet?) and I am happy with the selection we have…

Nomads & Magi & givers are for specialized builds but not viable in pve…

Easiest/hardest professions to level?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

15 l80’s; From easiest to hardest: (I do not like engi and will not comment on engi)

Warrior
Once healing signet gets unlocked you just faceroll everything, I an through areas being 3-5 levels underleveled and killed anything, at 3 levels underleveled some vets an be a challenge sometimes. GS and or Axe/warhorn melee all the way, but take a rfle or LB just in case. conditions builds are not usefull when running warrior. hybrids are semi viable @l80. Rifle is always less viable then LB even though the range is better.
(generally power builds)

Ranger
Even though this is not the strongest class the fact you will outrange so many foes, still doing decent dmg with a quite powerfull ally (pet) makes you roll through everythiing easy, and your pet can and will ress you if you make a mistake. As long as you keep distance you can kill anything and when asisted you’ll be able to gte bags from content at 3 levels underleveled with no problem. Sword is very confusing to play and gets me desorientated and confused each time I use it.
LB for the win, I used an axe/warhorn for secondary, but GS also works fine. conditions ask for a lot of flanking which tends to be not always possible…
(Ranger is a jack of all trades, master at Longbow& pets only)

Guardian
Well as long as you do not forget to heal it tends to be easy.. It teaches you to dodge very well, even at low levels melee is fun GS/Staff or S+F/Staff . On both guardians I own, I do not have a scepter. scepter can do dmg from great range but there are few if any places I would want to use it over S+F, GS or staff. F2 is an instant (small) heal it will save you often if you are distracted for a second… Mace is a nice experience but not viable unless you can dedicate points to healing next to power.
(Power only…. buffing/healing (M+S/Staff) is nice but slows levelling.)

Necro
I found levelling my necro quite easy as you have a huge healthpool, can bring 5 Minions to tank and have an emergency healthpool if things go awry.. A/D & D/D (power) OR S/D and staff (condi). Make sure you learn to use the deathshroud
MM power/ MM condi, power, condi, hybrid all viable. MM not for dungeons.

Mesmer
it took me a long time to figure out how to play mesmer,(GS as ranged weapon tends to be strange and staff as close combat weapons as well) and I actually avoided veterans and up as I found it very difficult to stay alive, I love my conditions mesmer, and hate the power one…BUT I’d go power again for levelling.
GS/S+* (offhand is a matter of preference, I’d advise pistol, but sword and focus will do as well)
(I love condi mesmer, but power is definately more viable…)

Thief (started out using D/D, later switched to P/P that made it easier, just make sure you keep 1 stealth for escaping and for additional speed I tend to take SB
(power, hybrid, condi all viable)

Elementalist (started out trying scepter, then went staff and later switched to D/D which seems easy untill Orr where I switched to back to staff.. Not so easy, but now I understand the class my second ele was levelled in 2 days… mostly in wvw firebombing lootbags… best score 35 bags with a MS and a firestorm. Second I levelled with staff all the way. Make sure you learn about healing… skill 6 is not for healing… staf W3+blast, water 5+Blast and water attunement tend to be much more usefull, also for your party/ people in the neighbourhood…
power for leveling, then afterwards power build or all stat. Power Aoe Fire Ele does most dmg ingame, also very squishy

Gear needs to be withing 5 levels of character level to be usefull, due to the NPE

For all characters except the heavy classes: bring a hard hitting ranged weapon, bring decent utility (when you can). and use a power build (power 1-20)(power/precision 21-55)(Power/precision/ferocity 56->up), for fastest levelling.

if you die easily try to figure out why, do you forget to heal?, forget to dodge?, forget to use buffs, come to close?, are you underleveled to much?, are you outnumbered vastly?, are you fighting a champion of same or higher level?,an elite of same or higher level?, a veteran of higher level? more then 2 or 3 enemies (this shouldn’t be a problem with aoe or cleaving attacks but if you still are using a single target weapon it tends to be very nasty..)?

if you really like conditions lvl 80 is the time to tink about it, I levelled my nnecro using a conditions build and later levelled another one using power, power is easier,, less frustrating and way more versatile doing hearts and stuff…

Not being able to destroy objects using a conditions build is probably the worst fail in GW2. If I shoot a door using arrows I kill it in seconds, If I set it on fire nothing happens
Learn about condi-caps before running conditions.

Confessions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Characters:
I have 15 characters, 14 females. 1 male.
I prefer females, as I prefer to look at a female character for 1000s of hours instead of a man.
Most characters are sylvari, I have 5 sylvari, 4 humans, 3 norns, 2 asura, 1 charr. I ’m tempted to delete the asura for space each time I see them.

Builds:
I have 8 mains, but the 7 classes of these mains hold only 1 which uses meta builds and it is a ranger.
I love less conventional stats.
I have:
- a zealot guardian, a zealot ele, a zealot warrior
- a soldiers warrior
- a sinister necro, a sinister ranger, a sinister warrior
- a clerics/nomad guardian,
- a celestial elementalist
- a rabid necro, a rabid mesmer
- a rampager thief
- a zerk ranger, (a zerk mesmer, a zerk engineer)

But never play my
- zerk mesmer (asura), zerk engineer (asura)

I love hybrid builds. Even though they’re less viable in dungeons… I have run hybrid thieves, mesmers, rangers, warriors, necros. All have specialized builds.

I love condition builds. I tend to have a condition version of all classes except ele, guardian and warrior. Full condition necro, ranger, mesmer….and yes thief. I have run all through story mode dungeons, the better part also through other dungeon paths

I do not mind other builds. I also think 90-95% of all zerk parties do not know speedclears and are just as slow as non-meta parties.

Dungeons
I do not mind joining a zerk speedrun, but tend to leave at:
- 1st or 2nd wipe
- no food used
- ranging characters, where melee would be preferable
- no support given through proper use of skills, fields and utilities
- unmentioned inexperience of players

I second kicking people for:
- cleaning inventories during speedruns,
- or repairing armor during speedruns,
- afk any reason during speedruns,
- being in combat due to not waiting not allowing ppl to port,
- not suiciding if needed (the fact it’s neccesary is bad enough),
- griefing,
- stalling,
- trolling,
- failing to buff,
- not using food,
- and idiots who start soloing a boss after 3/5th of aparty wipes after bad pulls.
If you want to do a speedrun, do so, don’t say so and expect to be slacking.

I accept however:
- newbies, the better they learn the better my runs will be in the future, I am willing to provide food, builds and tactics.

90% Of my dungeon runs are with EXP, Above x000 AP parties, I seldom run a true zerk party even though I also have zerk armor on: 2 warriors, 2 guardians, a ranger, an elementalist, a mesmer, a thief, a necro and a engineer. Zerk is no longer fun. I know all standard speed-ran dungeons to a point I already thought about everything till the endboss before actually selecting the path.

I always run the same dungeon paths being CoF 1,2, AC full, SE 1,3, TA fw/up, CoE full.
I play Arah 1,3,4 sometimes and love fractals but as my time frame to play is limited I tend to focus on the basic dungeons. I used to play HotW and CM sometimes but no longer bother. Only reason to go CM is for the runes, and I do not care if the Kodan go extinct.

Gear:
I have 12 copperfed salvage o matics on 15 charaters, All charaters I play frequently own one… They also have perm salvage gear and max slots, my bank also has max slots…
I buy t3 for my alts because I can. I use normal basic skins for my mains. I was kicked from a pug group once because my main warior uses barbaric armor, the fact it’s ascended didn’t seem to matter. Some people prefer me running a exotic condition t3 clad char above a full ascended clad dps build in basic skins… And If they want it I’m not bothering to change or inform them.

I got 900 dyes returned when the dye system was changed, I waited 2 months and bought the better part of an ascended armor for it….

I am the only “PvE commander” in my WvW guild: I am repsonsible for guild missions and proud of my “recognition.” I am not even going to try to tag up in WvW as I’m shy and easily startled, making me the worst and most insecure commander wthat would have ever run WvW. I tend to solo-cap or roam… in WvW

‘I do not like Asura!’:
I own all professions and all races, But I do not like playing engineer or asura. My engineer is one of 2 asura making it the worst combination possible so i was using it as a mule but eventually I started a guild bank not to look at the little troll. I upgraded the guild bank to quite some level unlocking the deep cave as well…

If there would be a race changer i’d change all my asura to charr… Then have the pact fleet destoy all asuran life, and have councellor phlunt witness this and then have him quarterized by dolyaks then resurrected by tequatl then frozen by the claw of jormag, shattered by the shatterer then used as fertilizer for mordremoth & the junge wurms.

I just do not like Asura.

I do like Quaggans, Skritt, Centaurs and Ogres.

I love the pink moa minipet with my memser just because.

This "Meta" has to end

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

The Meta will never end. Zerker will come to a point where it might be more viable to take one CC and/or conditions build, maybe with 1 healer/buffer… Just becasue ppl are worrying too much. Problem is the condition guy will run condition/power/precision, and the healing guy Power/precision/healing power. Making sinister and zealot part of the meta, but only for specialized runs. most probable would be the conditions guy being warrior/engi or necro (small niche for mesmers) and the healing be done by elementalists… CC would just be a hammer(/mace) warrior willing to scrfifice some DPS for CC, bdoubt there are many players playing warrior without hammers or maces in inventory anyways.

Changing will not change nothing about the meta, just fixing armors and roles, while this could also be done in Zerker the loss in specific DOT and healing could bea bit too big if someone mistypes at a-net, leading to a dungeons to hard,
resulting in “make ’m faceroll again”- threads popping up like weeds, much as “mounts” threads and “nerf zerker” threads atm.

I am no fan of the meta but I consider any stat combination with full off stats being zerk. so zerk/assassin/rampager/sinister/(zealot)…. DOT is “not viable” but can come in very handy…

I guess you’d be runing the new…improved?… guard ZERK META then, 2 dp’s guard (zerk), 1 cc/dps guard/warrior (zerk), or 1 dps thief (zerk), 1 hybrid warrior/necro/engi/mesmer( sinister), 1 heal/dps ele (zealot)…. Still relying on dodges blinds and aegis….

Devs: Verata's Seared ring @ Laurel vendor?

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

So I saved up a 1000 bandit crests to get verata’s ring, mostly to get an unlock on the laurel vendor, and guess what:

*It doesn’t unlock when you buy it. *

My best guess is next LS part 8 we will unlock Verata’s Seared Ring and the missing Trinket, and the Offensive amulet and the Utility amulet in 1 go…. I would like that… no problem, it would have been nice If I had known it… Would have saved me 1000 crests…. AND 10 GOLD if I had known it.

I’d really would have liked to have had the unlock so i could have bought a second one with laurels. I’m trying to get a second set for a mesmer, I might even want a 3rd and a 4th set.

If ppl of the dev team read this, I’d like to make a remark: Could we still get 3 amulets PLEASE?, one Offensive, 1 Defensive and 1 Utility?
Or make it so you can now use utility infusion in offensive and defensive amulets PLEASE? and just post that it is possible?

PLEASE add the Utility Nomads amulet, and Zealot ascended jewels as well, PLEASE?

Okay, that’s about enough begging for this week…

Still hoping The team keeps the ascneded structure complete.

PvE foes - high damage, low health pls

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Only good change would be faster attacks, if aplha attacked 5 times for every 4 now, people would have to think of something to cope with the extra dodge needed… if it would attack 6 times for every 4 now perma vigor would be needed (would be too much) or a evade skill..
guess increasing attacks from mobs by 25% would be a start,

Also halving the dmg but doubling the rate of fire would be nice. it really would make confusion that more usefull and reflects/shields as they were meant once could really be important….

But I really don’t mind the game as is.

This would make zerk even better than it already is.

This.

But zerkers lack health and defence so if they were to get hit with immense damage, they would be downed quickly. Unless you mean in a group event type situation in which case the scaling should serve to give the foes more health/armour anyway.

dodging? aegis? blind?

freeze them, make ’m weak….
dps is only 25-30% when you are out of blinds/dodges or aegis when done well.

Even if a boss would insta kill you on hit… with vigor and some 40% endurance regen food, you’d probably could kill him… as lonbg if you have a good party with blinds and aegis, well maybe just go 4 guards, 1 necro , make a new meta and all…
