Well I like the change in scaling but regarding dmg

To do PLAIN DMG (DPS) you need 3 stats:

- power for base dmg.
- precision for critical chance.
- critical dmg for added DPS dmg.
Well thats a bout it, you’re good to go…

If you want to go *Conditions All The Way (DOT) * you need 4 or 5 stats
- condition dmg (DOT dmg scaling)
- condition duration (DOT duration scaling)
- precision (DOT application (in a lot (not all) classes)
- toughness + (vitality) (well doing less DPS, and needing to wait for DOT to build up you need survivablity)
- NO OTHER CONDI USERS OVERWRITING YOUR CONDITIONS
(else you do not even tag bosses in dungeons and you just walking for show…)

If you wan to go Hybrid (DPS/DOT Mix) you need 5 or 6 stats
- power for base DPS dmg.

I run a rabid/rampager hybrid on necro and warrior they both put out good DPS+DOT (warrior: in the range of 1000 on sword, and 2500 bleeds and some fire dmg for the warrior but compared to the easy 3000 on DPS warrior….. it will lack when other players (read dps warriors) do bleeds, and when a guard is in party I do not do fire dmg, and a mesmer, thieves or necro’s can stack quite some torment… If this happens you are left with a tiny bit of dmg…) I do bring a lot of cripples and immobilizes… Unfortunately they do not kill enemies..

Well I do like the skill changes, in general, and many of the other changes made in the pact but:

I HATE THE LEVELLING EXPERIENCE:

  • Scaling is FUBAR-ed
    (well seeing I get weaker(?) in area’s with a little downscaling each time I level)
  • WEAPON Skill aquisition is FUBAR-ed (at least till lvl 28 or so)
    (pressing an attack button and the arrowkeys feels mighty 1980’s to me…)
  • The late introduction of utility & elite skills…
    (used to be lvl 5-10-20+e:30, became up till 40 ? Please? when are we allowed to start thinking about synergies and builds?)
  • The fact I am not allowed to do whatever I want ingame at anytime I want to, but only when you want to make me do something, makes me want you not wanting anything… (just think about it, it will make sense)
  • Making the proffession mechanics unavailable ? I remember they used to scale somewhat, being available in 5 levels or so, but 20+ levels? Yes! Let’s teach people they should run around, press 1 all the time and just buy from the BLTP. Enervating game!
  • The intro is missing… That’s to keep it short…
    I miss Pre Searing Ascalon so to say… That would be an excellent way of taching people the mechanics… It’s better then making me get my daily dodger in a lvl 4 area in no time whatsoever and removing all the abilities of my character… Guess no LDOA no more, but you might think of something?

I made a remark in one of the other threads, Asking if A-net thinks we’re Poeple or Lobotomized Shrimp.

But your pet rock probaby has as much IQ kitten my lobotomized shrimp hammering away at the 1 key with it’s front legs on the w and wagging it’s tail from a to d….

I almost had to kill my little shrimp, he wanted to format the c: drive… Not that it would have been a big deal, it’s nicely backed up, but it would take unneccesary time.
He was so unhappy playing after the patch , I was forced to remove the link to Gw2 from his personal account.
He feels better now, he’s playing Pong and finds it way more challenging.

I just wonder if this was developed with people in mind or just lobotomized shrimps… I made a new ele just to chec it out and took an experience scrol at l11 because the utter staleness of playing made me so mad i felt like ragequitting several times, not only did I lose acces to skillpoints like bert and erts glob of whatever I also couldn’t acces anything anymore. It was horrendous.

But the game can now be played by any age as long as you can read english (or german/spanish/french) So why lose the explorer feel and get perma satnav ingame? Why am I regarded as a lobotomized shrimp? Pls tell me….

I’ve seen people with 500 achievement points running around now with Eternity

I got more respect for people in acended gear atm, then for whomever with whatever legendary. Face it, with the legendaries on the TP they are just skins not anything special anymore, except only the price maybe, but anyone doing dungeons AC, Cof and TA each day will be able to spend 4000 gold after a year.

Should I bother with crafting Ascended stuff?

Well… I played the dungeons before in full rares, it works but most people look down upon it, it works without problems, if you know the drill. Exotics add 5% in stats, dmg, armor, ascended add another 5%…

In effect you know you use exotics (without food) in your fights like using a rare build with midlevel nourishment (+5% dmg given and -5% dmg taken) .
And so on with the ascended…

So using ascended (without food) is fighting like using exotics with food. So buy some food and play on. If you get a nice drop use it, make it a chestpiece if the stats are right and think:

“Well I run my game with all exotics, so I’m more pro then you using all ascended, casue it show more skill running in Tyria using exotics then ascended.”

You can buy ascended trinkets for a relatively low cost, doing guild missions, saving up laurels or just having some luck in wvw or fractals if you ever start doing those.
I can recommend the trinkets.

I’ll be honest I got 13 characters @ l80, 1 full ascended, 5 with asc. weapons and trinkets, 4 more with asc. trinkets, and 3 in full exotics.

If you would choose to make acendeds I’d advise you to go for the weapons not the armor. a weapon costs 30-85 gold, an armor piece is generally more expensive and adds less to stats… Also If you happen to be in a party (in dungeons) and you are wearing ascended armor you seem to get aggro easier then the people in exotics (though I run some toughness which couls also explain it).

I’ll be very simple. Yes place it. if you want to run condi PU afterwards then go right ahead. Runing without PU will actually make you stronger in roamings unless solo.

Buffed by 10% of toughness (chaotic transference), or 17% when runes of the undead are used (oh: tuning crystals?, wvw buff?) signet of domination? sigils of bursting? sigil of corruption? 1700 condi dmg ? LOL make it 2600 or 3500 with might in wvw. using a condi mesmer with a modded pug carrier will be the death of all roaming groups

I expect a lot of builds to be more powerfull then basic condi PU. You will want a lot of condition dmg?

go 0/0/5/5/4 and enjoy a nice build with the staff and the scepter with reduced casting and 250 condi dmg as well no bleeds on crit , phantasms from bother torch and staff could be more usefull and have a distinct use in self buff..

go 0/5/5/0/4 and enjoy a nice build witrh confusion on clone death and have a freedom for either staff or scepter clones on dodge bleeds on crit

OR go 0/4/6/0/4 and have a freedom for either staff or scepter clones on dodge with pu. but you’ll miss out on some confusion

interestingly: if the scepter would be buffed the deceptive evasion wouldn’t be obligatory anymore for some condi builds…

In the end when I was thinking back to mesmer, well, before the condi nerfs… then they had a niche function, denying 1 player all skill use. This is no longer so. AT ALL..

And why would a torment on 2 of the auto’s be that bad if the staff already does the same with bounces form next patch onwards? And why would it be else then sword warrior for example, doing bleeds on auto ?

2nd birthday experience scroll

I’m happy with the birthday booster, and I like the 5 free skillpoints (well generally I make serveral a day certainly on characters without full map anyways)

But the blaster, how nice it and well… suprisingly new it may be, is not really working for me atm,. It would have been nice to use next to the other foods, or have it character switchable (read: ACCOUNTBOUND, instead of soulbound), as it would be very usefull to buff NEW characters instead.

I have 13 characters 12 lvl 80’s now, and I do not really need many more lvl 20 scrolls atm. I stil have 8 lying around, and tbh the fact it’s not stackable is downright annoying…

I do like the fact titles were added, I’m proud to have 2 yr old characters

I would have liked to trade in some of my 9 queen jennah’s, for another mini or just better scrolls (higher level or just higher amount of skill points, but maybe I’ll get better scrolls when my next 4 or 5 chars get 2 years old (still hoping I will…) …

But never look a given horse in the mouth….? Well, not for too long anyways…

I have 12 full exotic or better equipped lvl 80’s and keepeing them stocked with mats and sups is quiet an expensive piece of the game…….

genrally I have between 5 and 50 gold. sometimes a bit more, but I tend to spend it on skins then

[Suggestion] The Right Time for Mounts

Step 7: Let players automatically dismount, if their Mounts get downed in combat, as they would have same as like Siege golems their own Stats/Healths, but would naturally be alot easier to beat, than a sturdy big Siege Golem, therefore they are naturally faster, more mobile and could be like Gummy suggests more useful in overall by beign able to support in WvW with Supply Transportation ect., what could lead to the removal of Supply Dolyaks, and its rediculous Achievement that anyways nobody will ever reach. By removing it the Achievement gout get changed and capped at say kill 1000 Supply Dolyaks giving players 10 AP for that … the title of that achievement could get reintroduced under a better new achievement thats well designed and not so ridiculous like the current WvW Achievements

Well if your golem goes down with you in it, you go downstate… You do not go down and have fun running on.

Even though I could imagine charr vehicles, certain animals, magic, balloons and such in tyria, I would not be happy seeing the beasts appear, I would dislike the simiarity and the fact stats would be igored for the new way of play (or do you want condi, cc, dps, heal mounts all in ranged and meelee?) how would this be an enrichment to the game? I prefer such an efffort going into the development of a new class…

You could try to remove the local dat file from your computer It could solve it, but it would only be this if you play regularly at both computers


-Backing up files is always recommended-

  • Exit Guild Wars 2 (deleting files needed by a running programm is generally unwise.)
  • Rename (backup) or Delete (who cares attitude) :
    “(HDD):\Users\(UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2\local.dat”

where
(HDD) stands for the partition with user files
(UserName) stands for your user account name (normally))

A new Local,dat should be created for you next time you start Guild Wars 2

Unless a ArenaNet Official posts this is the way to go I can only say, use with care.
I do not know if it causes secondary problems. but it will speed up your BLTP…

Well the content is faceroll with most of my builds, as it’s all focussed on solo-capable objectives. and -all- my builds run stacking sigils. so I think I have about 50 sigils of bloodlust on my characters (say all mainhands and 2 hands? On -ALL- power related builds, both my legendaries carry sigil of bloodlust), and well over 20 bursting and quite a few corruption. Guess there’s about a expensive precursor worth of sigils on those chars…

And if you can do these objectives with a condi-mesmer/ranger/necro, bunker heal guard or hyrbrid warrior …. Well, you can do it with any build (and yes I did the 1st episode on 11 characters, only my engi didn’t do anything as I use him for additional storage panes. (love the idea “engineer” but hate the playstyle) and as you get the completion reward on all characters you can still get the end reward over and over again… Else It wouldn’t be repeatable content.

So in the end it’s not about the difficulty, It’s about the fact there is now gameplay that ignores builds/food/gear for certain parts. I do not like that. I do not like the fact we will all be like the Skritt with the wooden sword and dagger as posted above if this gets a hold.

I hope GW2 rune lasts at least as long as GW1 and it will see it’s 10th birthday…myabe even go on and on…. , But if this is a trend, you will never ever be able to get drops (still minor, still lame), use those traits ( -severe-), use stacking sigils (frustrating) or use food, or sigils or other triggers on (enemy) death(-stupid-) in the story lines for the coming 8 yrs.

Interestingly enough:

for food you need to harvest and craft or buy it at the trader
for traits you need to unlock or buy
for gear you need to craft or buy it at the trader

I know the game is provided “as is”, but I think the developers should show some consideration to the public.

Yes you could say people who use stacking sigils are OP from game persepective, but:
SO WHAT, they will not earn more then others? You removed all drops in the stories…
Disabling traits? Why do you want that?
Why would you send people 3 times around Tyria to get a series of traits to make a build and deny them the possibility to use it?

Why would you make a cooking system, and add recipes which are useless after people invested time and money to level, spend effort to get the materials by either farming or buying from the tp, discovering or earning the recipe’s through events and them render it useless?

Why would you consider the story line to be different from the actual PvE game?

Could any developer or arenanet associate pls answer these questions for me?

Making a big part of the game abilities and gear useless " a design decision " ?

Lets just give all people a skritt with a wooden sword and a wooden dagger…. and a catapult as ranged…. just remove all other weapons, utilities, food, sigils runes and armors… and stop the balance there. Could very well be the next design decision…

Also makes your effort untilll now pointless… As does the original “decision”.

I’m not saying I’m against limiting drops or reducing farming, I already mentioned it was the least of the problems…

I just want to play the game with the characters I build…. with the gear I collected… with the food I selected….

A very quick write:

All kills made in the living story do NOT give XP, resulting in a lot of problems

Following normal game this causes a few things to not work as intended:

- Stacking sigils do NOT fuction
no count. so all builds which depend on some specific stacking stat.
So you’d better buy fixed sigils instead of stacking ones…
do “not use” (=> alternative)
no bloodlust (11 gold)=> force (6 gold),
no corruption (2 gold) => bursting, (15 gold)
no perception (1 gold) => accuracy, (1.6 gold)
no momentum. (6.5 gold)
no life, (12 s)
no benevolence (2.5s)

- loot drops, No XP = No drops. (= least of the problems, but lame nevertheless)

- Vengeance on Warrior will NEVER TRIGGER and res you as you havent killed an NPC but a critter with much HP.
This will require you to be ressed by the NPC’s if available… also goes for the mesmer skill…

- Food doesn’t trigger on death , neither do Traits, and neither do Sigils
so do not use:

I like the story, but you seem intent on destroying the mechanics of your own game???

Easy Fix for Condition Damage

I wouldn’t mind seeing al these traits being REMOVED from game altogether and buffing the condition weapons/utility skills instead. Then a warrior wanting to run +10% dmg on a bleeding target would actually need a condi player in the group instead of just traiting a few points in a build that actually doesn’t need bleeding (most DPS specs will run the 5 in precision just because there will -always- be bleeds, not just with condition users present)

It would be a good thing to make DPS builds only have acces to dazes/stuns, weakness, vulnerability, cripples, fear and chills
And It would be good to make condition builds have acces to bleeds, poison, fire, confusion, terror and torment additionally

It might actually be wiser even to make condition builds scale fully on condition dmg, making sure 0 condition dmg does 0 damage and therefore do no ticks… and the curve a bit steeper.

But now I’m getting carried away….

Nice thread.

Yes, I -as a PU condi mesmer- can single handedly capture a camp. unbuffed or with guards… that’s true in wvw… I can distract and combat a enemy with my PU condi spam. Forcing me to be in melee range with my light armored character, while I could also go and stand a bit away and use the staff clones to rain down the conditions and completely overwhelm you with 6 bleeds, poison fire and some confusion, but most builds could just turn and run OR just PBAOE me to shreds.

Meeting a necro is a bad thing… He can outcast me with conditions and interupt me doing conditions and lower my dmg… I can interupt him as well doing nice loads of confusion, which can be ignored if he can wait 5 seconds before resuming attacks.

Whil in wvw I am asked to bring null field, veil, portal, feedback and need decoy and prefferably the signet of domination in my 3 utility slots, and my elite slot should contain at least mass invisibility and timewarp. People want me to un into zergs for portal bombs and commanders say, do not worry we will ress you afterwards…

If you want to (wvw)level a mesmer in wvw you’d best go and hop on the karma train in EotM with a full zerk phantasm build… It will give you more cash, more satisfaction and more levels then just trying to stay alive around your zerg in BL or EBG…

Still roaming can be fun, find a nice perma thief (or 2) and a (hybrid) necro (as bait) and farm whatever you like… with some guild cata’s the 3 or 4 can actually capture keeps and castles als long as they roam undetected… But that doesn’t make them OP…

Invisibility is and essential way to stay alive. for (condi) thieves and (condi) mesmers. they are hard countered by DPS mesmers and dps thieves and rangers, as well as any character with a decent amount of AOE skills (necro staff/well bomber?)
The mesmer will croak, as opposed to the thief, who will laugh and kill the attacker.

IMHO each character in wvw has it’s own focus and all can be dangerous in the things they do….
Warriors are OP in CC, Ele’s are OP in ranged dmg, Necro’s are unmatched in AOE, Guards are OP in Mitigation, Thieves are OP in 1vs 1 fights, Rangers are OP in range, Mesmer is OP in distraction and confusion….

OR are they not OP but just focussed to a specific idea/direction which has been worked out better on some builds then on others?

Some builds are very vunerable to mesmers, yes. hard counters exist in this game.

(I cannot talk for engi as I do own 1 but never play it in general, this is no critisism but a fact,)

just for the idea, in wvw condition mesmers and condition ranger still are poweful roamers who can solocap camps without any big problems…

rangers are on their way to become hard counters vs thieves. even though a ranger can bring spirits and warhorns the main thing where the rangers shine is 1500 range dps vs enemies on walls….

mesmer has few comparable things except some gimmicks: timewarp, veil, portals, but no real dps, no real cc, no real impact…. except for cappin’ a few camps solo…

please they are both broken. ranger hasn’t gotten much love, neither did mesmer, the mesmer also has 100+ bugs since beta… some temporarily fixed and forgotten again…

The main strength of mesmer was the complete shutdown of a character. without actually having the power to kill him when using a condition build, this was nerfed, and some focus was laid on dps creating a mix between a ele and a thief instead of creating a character for complete shutdowns

Confusion isn’t dangerous… until you do something, then is does a LOT more dmg this was to be nerfed and we got some mediocre condition s to play with, 5 secs of bleeds, 2 secs of poison, 2 secs of burning… because we could completely shut someone down for 10-20 seconds before… not doing dmg…. but because if he didnt do anyting himself he would stay alive. Oh just for the record condi clean completely nullifies a condition mesmer based on confusion. no dmg with or without stacks….

same though for rangers. condi ranger used to be nice, witrh a shortbow and a sigil of earth they could compete… well sigil of earth was nerfed into oblivion… and so was condition ranger

for dps, well they are both effective and both squishy… and though the weapons are different, they are completely the same.

This has been known for at least 21 months now… ArenaNet has acknowledged before the FGS skill 4 is a problem as it can be abused and it was left unchanged for well over 12 months afterwards…

IMHO:

Yes, It’s rediculously powerfull, and I want to say only 1 thing If arenanet could make it that the skill stops activating (now think about a certain mesmer skill and then reflect on that) when you hit a barrier this would be more balanced.

The fiery rush is a real usefull skill with it’s own uses when used untargeted, but I do agree when used on 1 single spot it’s power is beyond imagination. A 5 man group containing 2 eles on a AC run will make you kill the boss(es) nearly instantly, maybe 2 seconds tops. There is only 1 requirement, a barrier. Without the barrier, the FGS works as intended. with a barrier it’s well… Then again if you pull wrong in path 2 you will need to wait 180 seconds before you can retry , which allows you plenty of time to kill the ghosteater with normal dps.

But on the other hand, the bosses in most dungeons will die in about double the time it takes the FGS groups anyways with a well buffed, fed and moderately experienced full DPS party. Needing the FGS is actually a sign of inability to do it “normally”, and not a sign of beeing a great group or something, leaving FGS users being the lazy, the inept and the would-be cheats….. Using the reference to FGS 4 in any connection to good, adept, record or 1337 makes the claimer look utterly stupid

I have a full DPS ele, and using the FGS you can do some great tricks, you can pull 3 lvl 30-35 starters in blue armor through AC with 2 players with the forementioned knowledge… But this would also be possible if you didn’t need to use the wall, it would just take 3-4 seconds longer. and it could also be done by normal DPS taking 3-4 seconds more… , just from previous experience.

My question If you are going to change it, it will make some runs a “little more difficult” (not for AC , CM, TA, SE, COF, COE… imho ) BUT on the other hand high lvl fractals or true HP bags will take 3-4 times as long to kill…. so you will make high lvl fractals last even longer and make a bit of the speed boost you actually use against the HP bags in Arah dissappear. Just so you can say well the game is balanced now? If you have a good group of people just DPS-ing any boss with meta gear and some experience they will kill a boss in little to no time anyways. The Spider or Kohler in AC causes most parties more problems then all 3 end bosses…. maybe the recharge for FGS 4 cold be lengthened a bit from 6 (or is it 8?) seconds base to 10 or so. It could just eliminate the problems…. or would we just switch to Ice Bows? In the end it would not actually fix anything. It’s a gimmick in the stacking meta, not much more.

In the end it’s not the FGS which is gamebreaking but the stacking itself…

In all cases I got now 15k maybe 20k ac tokens in almost 2 years. I had the Detha bug happen to me maybe a dozen, max 20 times. Personally I prefer to kill Kohler as he gives a chest/bag/wp.
But Kohler is optional.

The door thinghy as I posted above happened to me at least 50 times, if not more… mostly when running ranger (bow skills), thief or elementalist, or when carrying FGS. I see people flash through that door about 1 in every 3 run…

Well there is a way to fix it.

Respawn and get detha in combat with the 1 or 2 of the champion gravelings (near the stairs) and have her killed , It should reset it. (-corrected and amended-) (should be 1 on the 1st set of stairs when running from kohler, and the second in the room directly after those stairs)

Also in a lesser amount of instances, but still happening on 3-5% of the runs where you need to find the scepter pieces, hodgins bugs ( in p1). This is easily fixed by porting to a waypoint and just rerunning.

These bugs have been here for a while…

Also do not use teleport/ leap skills while kkillling the graveling mounds in the room after kohler (p1) in the lower right corner, as they will port you through the dopor and leave you stuck or in need for a waypoint robbing your party from 1 guy doing dmg. This happens with phase retreat, (thief) shortbow skill 5, (ranger LB , Ranger SB) ,FGS rush, ride the lightning and other comparable skills. It’s very annoying… The moment is always the same: the death of the burrow, because the animation triggers causing the door to be “removed” for a fraction of a second

Worst scenario I ever was in: 4 ppl using FGS and looking at eachother like WTF happened here while Hodgins was eaten in the other room, with a ranger…. (happened to play ele that time))

And yes I know 4 fiery rushes is overkill.

Interesting problem, most hybrid builds have a durable mix of DOT and DPS, unfortunately they are hampered by the condition system.

I know there are many builds which would benefit from the mix of DOT and DPS, just to keep up some damage while you just pull back a bit and regen. Most pure DPS builds have only 1 shot at killing things I prefer to do 10% less dmg, have toughness for survivability and have a flexible build…… being able to do dmg vs objects and do DOT…

On the other hand maxing was born from the wish to do content asap, minning was born from people reacting to maxing and trying to bunker them… In the middel stand hybrids, they have some armor and could wear down a DPS build through comnbined dmg, AND they could attack bunkers and ignore armor via conditions

Also it’d further promote Toughness as the sole defensive stat and devalue Vitality even more.
Healing Power also but it really doesn’t matter any more whether you make that any weaker.

Well looking at things I could actually see healing power as a mitigation to most conditions… I would like to amend this to the discussion

-Regarding healing power for mitigation of condition dmg. :

It would fit the bill,
healing power vs bleeding, poisoning, burning, confusion, fears, terror, weakness, vunerability and so on… But I think it should be a scaling system based on reduction of damage based on the healing power points, keeping in mind I got my clerics guardian up to 2100 healing power… without sigil of life….

Also should mitigation be besed around duration reduction OR damage reduction.

Well I started this thread to make the capped issue of conditions problem less of an issue.

Of course we could say in pvp there would be an issue if 5 people would start casting bleeds on 1 character and spiking him, but would it make sense in gameplay? and would the investment in time and loss of cap points actually benefit the group stacking “100 bleeds on 1 character” (doubt this amount would ever be reached though even if your character had a 100000 HP)

I understand there is a fear for massive condition stacks, but it is not interesting for a team to spike ppl with so many spells… the only way I would see 60+ bleeds happen is with several sword warriors (4 or 5) all casting flurry at once. And what would they benefit from their actions? they would all lose their adrenaline and cooldowns…
Stacking more then 15-20 bleeds in any gamesetting (be it PvE, WvW or PvP) vs a player is fatal, stacking 100 would be overkill, and overkill is not sensible gameplay. also even if a theroretical 100 bleed would be achieved in pvp all it takes is 1 condi cleanse to remove ALL damage potential?

The removing of caps is generally meant for PvE and WvW where the effect would only be noticable on HP bags like champions and legendary enemies (as they do have healthpools of 100000’s of points, when scaling)

When looking at conditions: Conditions atm have only 1 place where they are viable: pvp, and I only see posts of ppl wanting them negated , removed , lessened, or otherwise nerfed…, second place where conditions can be used is single player pve, so story line, and solo gaming. But players will need a second build for any group events, dungeons and other instances where more then 2 condition players group, because they are ignored -damage wise- if they do not. this seocnd part is the one I want to braek open. I have only played a tiny amount of pvp and the only games I won were while playing condi mancer, condi ranger and condi warrior. I learned most people ignore DOT as it seems not so powerful, and I learned good players are well aware of the dangers of DOT and know when to attack and when to retreat cleanse and heal up.

So I do not understand the deflection of this thread to pvp , as the theoretics are nice to think about but not a real sensible way of playing.

So pls divert your attention back to the topic:

removing of the stack cap for conditions – in general- and hence a :

Because you do not get any xp from the enemies:
you do not get stacks on your weapon stacking sigils
(life/momentum/corruption/bloodlust and so on.)

Not game breaking, but annoying that my characters with dozens of gold worth of sigils doesn’t get ay benefits… Some builds relying a bit more on the sigils are somewhat underpowered maybe, but still strong enough to keep fighting.

Also I would have liked some drops in the form of sand/ lockpicks or ambrite just from story…

I tned to agree with tim on this matter,

Conditions can be cleansed, they can be reduced.

There are quite a few foods and some rune options that provide condition reduction
in pve that can amount to -65% condition duration
(rune of melandru? rune of antitoxin? rune of the trooper?)

Changing your build so it’s more condition resistant will mean sacrifices on other grounds. It will rewrite the meta. And thats good. It will keep the game fresh for a bit longer.
It will also create further options for support in pvp. To counter 5 man necro epidemic blobs use 1 or 2 guardians or warriors for shout heal area cleansing? It will nullify or at least severely hamper their dmg output

And lastly if I go roaming in WvW and am shanked by 3 DPS backstabber thieves while running my PU condition mesmer, why can’t my necro and condi thief allies support me? They are negated… The thieves are not. they do 15-35k dmg together (depending on my armor) in 1 second, try to mimic that with condition builds, You’ll have warning from condi players in advance because you will see the stacks rising, unlike the backstabbers; they just shank you if you missed them, gg…

In wvw if you get tagged by 25 bleeds and you cannot clean your die. Same in pve…

A class with high condition dmg ( & might) in wvw does about 2000-2400 base, 2800-3200 with might condition dmg worth of points for160- 200 dmg per bleed/tick, so for 25 you’d be looking at 4000- 5000 dmg / tick… And I’m not kidding here, without reduction by armor… only for bleeding, but you’ll probably be poisoned so you heal less, and a nice confusion spike is never far away (condi hammer warrior with perplexity? Anyone?) If you clean you will kill yourself , if you do not you’ll kill yourself…

So you die. With these normal numbers squishy classes have 2 seconds to react else they’re down. Then again if you stand in 1 spot for 2-3 seconds in a zerg battle you’ll be downed or dead anyways, if you made a “positional mistake” just by DPS

But in wvw a lot, if not most people run a lot of aoe condition removal.. On my shout healer warrior I have 3 shouts which clean 4 conditions, and I ’ve got a warhorn, to convert 2 further conditions, and lastly cleansing ire which will remove up to 3 conditions. It wil however afect people who do not bring condi cleanse and expect their condition duration mitigation to handle everything…,

But just 30 or even 50+ stacks of bleeds are not a problem. The consequence is still the same for players, only the time to react will be shortened, It might be the end of zerging as we know it… imagine a condi spike on a castle lord and then 5 or 10 enemy necro’s portalbombing and casting epidemic…

personally I wouldn’t mind seeing terror, burning and poison stack as well. It would open up this game. Creating something extreme… I wouldn’t mind leaving the max stacks at 25 for pvp , but to be honest: IMHO it’s unfair.

If you get put together with 4 condi characters you cannot join to kill someone, if you get all dps-ers you can.

Condi dmg formula’s : (for reference, based on lvl 80 characters)

Bleeding: (general stacking DOT)
0.05*Condition dmg + 42.5 per stack per second

Torment: (movement denial DOT)
0.0375*Condition dmg + 32 per stack per second (when standing still)

Most skills have a hit/miss trigger atm most ppl with a dps build need only 1 hit to gain credit. We should make a check for the amount of succesful attacks on target. and derive participation this way. maybe 1 succesful hit fopr copper and make the amount scale for better rewards as enemies are higgher tiers (vet, elite, champ or legendary) But in my opinion this wouldn’t be part of the condition management but combat mechanics in general.

I prefer not seeing my individual dmg and in the end with 100 necro’s do the 250000 dmg, then seeing the numbers and with 100 necro’s do 2500 dmg.

I know arenanet’s developers say condition damage is a problem and bound to stacks.
Why?
Those stacks need to be personalized so people get their nice damage figures on screen…
Unfortunately:
This asks for quite some load on the servers. I want to offer a suggestion.

My suggestion: If we instead pool the condition damage (character stat) numbers.
(So not the actual dmg figures like 120 bleed, but the condition dmg: 2000 pts from player 1 worth of bleed , 3bleeds*550 condition dmg of bleeds from player 2 and 8 times 350 bleed from player 3 would combin e to a condition dmg total of 6450 condidmg worth of bleed for a tick , the durations should still be monitored but this can be done is a simple table.

Instead of keeping track all the personal stacks we make a pool,
it will mean we no longer see the -personal- amount of bleeding or poison BUT we will all be able to do condition dmg without cancellation and overwrites

I will assume the following can be changed
-make the base value of condition damage 1 instead of 0 OR based on level instead.
-make all the condition damage flow into a “pool for condition dmg” to calculate dmg
-instead of proccing all might for the duration of the might we only proc it once at condition duration start so when up we do calulate it, if not we ignore it for the reaminder of that cast/hit’s duration.
-a maximum condition duration is taken ( 60 or even 90 sec ) for a respective length of a table (table dimensions: (duration+1 a )X(condition +1)
(those conditions which don’t dmg should be taken into consideration (length of cripples, stuns,dazes,invisibilities, stealths, chills)
and in this (per enemy table) all condition dmg should be stacked for damaging conditions

Say 100 lvl 80 condition chars stacking 25 bleeds with values of 2000 condition dmg could lead to 25 bleeds*100 chars for 2000 condition dmg , for actual 5000000 stacked condition dmg when all have reached max efficiency when no cleaning happens.
This would amount to ~250000 dmg or 2500 dmg per necro per tick which is quite accurate

present formula:
bleeding dmg = (0.05 * Condition Damage) + (0.5 * Level) + 2.5 per stack per second

The bold area in this formula should get some rework to make sure people with very low condition dmg are kept in the calculation since we no longer keep track of individual bleeds but condition dmg we cannot have people anymore with 0 condition dmg, their bleeds which used to do 42 dmg per tick will vanish (which could be unfortunate if you have traits benefitting from your empty bleed (read=> power warriors using +10% dmg on bleed?) so a bleed should be triggered so a minimum value of 1 condition should be used giving a warrior his bleed but no actual dmg from it. If the warrior worries lot about his DPS losing the 3 -5 bleeds (120-200 dps) then we could consider making a base value of 100 condition dmg for all players, or setting it to 916 at lvl 80 but reworked in the condition dmg formula… (this specific points will ask for some thinking)

The dmg formula this could be altered leaving the bleeding calculation
bleeding dmg = (0.05 * condition damage stacked) per proc

Ofcourse condi cleaning would still wipe the slate for one or more specific condition(s)
Epidemic would transfer the table to other spawns, 5 in range…. no utility lost there.
Changing condi to boons would be the same and so on…
The only change should be the noticability of condi clearing.

this could solve the stacking problems of bleeding, but also all other conditions. The loss to players would be not to see the actual values of dmg you yourself are doing but the gains would be you would be doing condition dmg not hampered by the oother condition applying characters in your area.

So far my suggestion….
I hope it’s implementable.

Conditions are a nice addition to the game, but atm truly bugged… due to thier game implementation.

well I can think of many of my character benefittig from a 4th utility skill, There are quite a few elites that actually are worth their position as elites, but I need o admit there are so many skills I wouldn’t use in PVE when soloing or roaming. Timewarp for my mesmer? Mass Invisibility? they are both great skills but when I’m alone the recharge alone makes them rather useless, I’d rather take another utility instead. same for necromancer I love lichform and plague, but I could fit in epidemic in my hybrid build (based on aoe wells and skills) which would make the build a lot more powerful then having lich form… Just making the skill hit 10 instead of 5 players or double the duration could make a huge variety of builds spawn…

I’m not 100% sure but last time with the zepherites around I think we also got some charged quarts crystals as a drop/ when mining the quartz ore points . Not that it really is that important, but I did like the fact I could stack some up, they are time gated for the most part…(much to my dismay tbh)

I hoped this returning event would give me some of the timegated things, They are not sellable anyways. Celestial items are not that good since the feature patch a while ago but I eend to like the skin(s) for mesmer.

I just hate it, I like the fact I can do contyent on a low level alt while seeing other players…

Thats the only positive.

I hate doing world bosses now, I can’t guest to another server to do a boss there if I cannot do it on my own free time on my own server.
I hate the fact my home server has no longer an identity.
I hate all languages have been merged and all reactions of ppl on foreign languages. (well I speak a bit of german and french and good english) but tsiull I cannot read 30-40% in map chat. Also the barrier speaking own langiuuages has dissapeared, becasue if ppl are allowed to speak whatever language in a game there is no äctual consensus anymore on 1 ingame language.
I hate guld missions ask for much taxi-ing
I hate guild requisition now also attracts ppl from other servers, and while we do not actively recruit for WvW it’s stupid to have to kill your own guildies in WvW. Also we use a guild TS which is impossible now for WvW and the second guild using our TS is full WvW… DOHhhh…..
I hate being forced to do WvW for dragonite now,
I honestly liked the world bosses and the living (hmmm…well now: reanimated and kept on life support) world… Hate I cannot actively trigger bosses anymore, I just go and sit in front of a screen look at the timer go to the server hope I get a good overflow and just spam 1 with the other 150 ppl. (Which honestly isn’t what it used to be)
I hate the fact there was a need for this update due to A-net never realeasing more contnet in the first place and just destroying the game as it was.

I JUST HOPE A-NET HAS THOUGHT ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF A NEW PATCH AND 75% OF THE LEAVERS RETURNING TO FIND THEIR GAME CRIPPLED.
I WONDER IF SERVER CAPACITY WILL ALLOW FOR IT. MIXING ALL SERVERS AND BUILDING OVERFLOW AFTER OVERFLOW….

I HOPE YOU GOT A SERVER-STRUCTURE ROLLBACK PLAN TO COPE WITH ANY

Well it seems we’re almost to the 20th page so I still hope this is being read,

I made another character just for the sake of trying the leveling system. I made a necro. It’s my second, my first necro I leveled in the fgirst few weeks after release.
I got 10 lvl 80’s 1 of each profession and 3 warriors

I’m lvl 68 now with this character (now 4 days old) doing dungeons or dungeon swap leveling, some Eotm power leveling and well the leveling goes ok. So I’m at lvl 68 now, I effectively unlocked 6% of the map ( well the grove, black citadel, gendarran fields did story on AC, AC paths 1,2,3 TA FW/UP , I made a waypoint in each city. I am lvl 400 tailor already. I did what I did before on my last 8 alts.

I unlocked 3 traits by playing:
spiteful talisman,
minion master,
bloodthirst,

So I’m 12 lvls from becoming lvl 80. I have 8 trait points, and I cannot make a build, I cannot try out anything… I can walk through anything, got rare gear, and rings, gold and gear from EOTM, but I really cannot be bothered to go and get my traits. It’s stupid, because I have 10 fully equipped characters there’s no real need for me to do all this stuff to unlock everything. Why would I want map completion AGAIN? I did it 4 times already, I made 2 legendaries and there is no reason why I would do ANOTHER world completion, grinding full maps again.

And yes of course I could buy all traits… But WHY?

I liked the books for unlocking the traits, It made you feel powerfull each time you got one and openened it… Now I’m just thinking well what could I do next, not the least interested in what will come next, not in a positive way, doing a region completion takes 1 hour maybe 90 minutes on a big one if you grind it to the max.

I do think the XIII traits could be hidden behind events. It could open up new idea’s for players, but I must say I’d like the old books with the traits back for all I to VI, VII to X and XI to XII traits, (the Adept, Master and Grandmaster books.)

This new trait system is boring compared to the former one
It makes leveling a pain.

  • For ppl wanting to make (additional) alts its a real bore…
  • It doesn’t allow for build testing or creativity during leveling.
  • It requires stuff I really do not care for, It requires world bosses I do not have time for being almost 40 with 1 daughter and a pregnant wife
    *Alternatively it requires gold to open (have some) and skillpoints… Well I get some points during WvW but I need utility skills as well AND Elites…… I will also need lvl 80 gear and weapons… buying all traits and gear sets me back quite some gold….,w hich I have but other ppl with limited experience& ingame gametime just wanting to level an alternate character after the first one will not have the resources, and will get stuck, which is truly annoying, and possibly game breaking.

I think the idea of coupling traits to events was good, but you should have just made books for the lvl XIII traits and left the system as it was. I find the system moderately interesting for a starter player, and boring beyond imagination for a veteran player.

No body in our guild has made any effort to try and level an alt after the patch and actually tried to do events. The concensus in our guild is arenanet has made yet another gold sink. Noone in our guild likes the system.

IMHO the last patch brought us:

  • new traits, which was good,
  • a quick change system for traits which I find very nice,

BUT Anet also introduced:

  • new trait UNLOCKS which was awfuly bad,
    which I find horrendous, being detrimental to gameplay experience of both veteran and new players alike by being slow and grindy, requiring too many features which should be done because of other reasons…

Suggested changes:
Leave the books for lvl XIII traits as is.
Return the trait books for adept/master/grandmaster
Make a system whcih allows me to remember builds and auto stes them, skills and traits.
If you do insist on requiring bought traits remove the skillpoinr requirement. We also need to buy skills. not enough skillpoints means: no traits… no skills…. if you do not want to do all your devised chores.

Well on my hex core i7 I seem to use 7 to 8 threads (of 12 possible)… thats about it. load on cpu isn’t much higher then 40-45% either… (while also running TS, browser)

GPU isn’t maxed out either. (running at 60FPS capped, mostly because of heat considerations. playing 3-6 hours raises temperature here by 3-5 celsius on the whole floor… Good in the winter bad in the summer….)

The problem is not that you have a bad build, It’s perfect, but i also have a good build… But we are both rendered partly or greatly ineffective if we’d run together…

I also run 2 normal warriors 1 might stacking 1 just boring old meta

The greater issue I have is when classes, such as warrior, think they’re the best class at condi and refuse to do otherwise. Yes, there are hybrid builds such classes can do, however a warrior, even as hybrid, can tinker their build much much more easily than other condi classes can. My necro’s scepter auto attack hits for less than 250 damage on it’s own. However, that damage increases by 600% when you account for bleeds. In order for me to switch to a “power necro” build, it would require me to drastically change armor, runes, and weapons.

It would be nice if the condi cap did not apply within dungeons at least. Not to mention if other conditions were able to stack in intensity.

Just a small mention, I posted I run rabid/rampager, If I’d want to run the power warrior (Meta) I’d need a new armor and runes, trinkets and weapons as well.

On my necro I have a carrion armor set, a rabid, set a zerker set and rabid, rampager and berserker jewels… rabid, rampager/carrion and zerk weapons and a broad variety of food are included as well… I have 36 slots of weapons and trinkets on character at all times. As build switching is now free I can go full zerk and full condi as needed.
You gotta love improvements.

On the other hand, I got 3 warriors 1 for conditions, 2 for meta/wvw/support, and I don’t carry 3 or 4 armors on those. I just switch to another character.

Well I run a Hybrid Warrior. Rabid/Rampager.. With runes of the undead. I do not have the amount of condition dmg as you have. But I stil run (with banner and empower allies, and my own 8 stacks of might:
power 1759+150+170+280: 2259 power (141 with sharpening stone)
condition dmg 1355 +170
280: 1805 c dmg. (+141 with tuing crystal)
this is without food or sigils.

food choice is fireflank steak in groups with condi dmg (100 power 70 condi dmg) and pizza (70 condi +40% condi duration) in groups without.

While the duration is a lot worse then with your necro 50% bleed and 0 other (or 90 bleed and 40 other w food), It is still a effective build giving up to 3600 bleeding (when under 25 might) with a bit of torment, fire if opening with longbow, immobilize and cripple, while buffing the party with fury, 425 power and 275 condition dmg… (when using banner of strength) and having a elite to choose (mostly using signet of rage for fast adrenaline stack , but warbanner is also usefull)

I think it’s all what you think could be usefull. I will only do the basic 1000-1700 dmg with my sword If I find a condition necro in a party. I get asked by guildies to run along, to buff the party in otherwise full zerk groups. and I’m no way squishy, running almost 1600 toughness

My post has 2 parts:
1 stating the present problems,
2 offering some suggestions for improvement and testing: (This is also mostly PVE/dungeon related but some of it could be used in PvP/WvW.)

Well I have asked for an improved condition system before. And I like playing conditions in PvE as well. But those 2 things said:

- Conditions in GW2 are not viable as they overwrite each other.

- A lot of classes get conditions while traiting they’ll never use effectively but also deny others to use theri condition effectively. Warrior for example get conditions on every crit with a minor traits, and even though their bonus is +10% dmg, the condition dmg itself is mostly wasted. Making ANY 2-3 warrior group a no go for coindition warriors, rangers, necro’s or engies with regard to bleeds (well they remove quite a bit of your stacks)

- In PvE you’ll regularly find objects. Objects are not subject to conditions (not even burning) wich is a shame, as it leaves condition players with a hole in their build if they need to kill a lot of objects solo… Some dungeon endgame is build around objects as well (think: the rock in CoF p2.) rendering full condi’s less usefull…

- Stacks are capped. well 25 bleeds is a lot of dmg, I run a hybrid warrior and when fully buffed it does 3400 dmg/tick worth of bleeds. next to 1000-1600 per auto sword hit… but if I run with a necro, the necro does reach bleeding cap and I do as well. effectively halving or bleeding dmg, well we will not reach the cap for torment, but both will be able to do burning , and I use a sigil of doom on my warrior on which is rendered useless as well.

I do not think condition builds are the best way to go in PvE, just because there is little content asking for condition based playstyles. Hybrid is a niche where you can shine, provided other ppl have no problem with it. (wouldn’t be the first time I got a kick in an open party for running shortbow /axe on ranger, scepter on necro or swords on warrior.
Lastly there are still condition builds which have been nerfed into oblivion by our all knowing team of a-net, because of “unfair play styles”. (think of torment & confusion based perplexity players (read: Shutdown Mesmers)… I will not kill you, you may kill yourself using your condiclean So farewell to the condi mesmers… shutting them down instead of letting them shutdown was a big loss, maybe good for balance of the inexperienced, but still a big loss.

To reinstate conditions,

Dungeon caps should be enlarged in dungeons to 125 and 5 To counter this you only need to make bosses rermove conditions with normal condi cleans. The game will allow for other playstyles all together.

You could make bosses tailored for conditions, Just give them more armor

If arenanet would want to try it out they could just make a more condition based dungeon with condi caps at 125 and others at 5 (stacking poison further reducing healing, stacking weakness (further reducing outgoing dmg), more burning (well more dmg), vulnerability removing toughness, torment and confusion for shutdowns.
daze.stun for shutdown, blinds for a miss. cripples for freezing and stacking frost for slowing (start at 15-18-20 % and with 5 stacks get to 75-90%or shutdown with coupled movement.) and make sure you do this both ways. Make me a dungeon I need to work on and add a decent reward

Some other idea’s for changing things without completely removing stacks:

You could use vulnerability (should leave the base toughness of 916 at all times even with unlimited stacks) in PvE/PvP/ dungeon to lower the TOUGHNESS rating instead of increasing dmg, leaving ways for DPS based players to add dmg to “tanks” It needs to stack like conditions to get effective, and having it remove it a % of the toughness rating per vunerability could make the game more interesting (well should need some tweaking there) It would leave armor to protct you from a single blow, but just facetanking would be a no no. Also the Ghosteater (and maybe others bosses) would once again be a nasty foe…

Several Door-Guards in game/ dungeons/ wvw with idiotly high armor, but low health, so 1 or more condi spammer(s)/ hybrid(s) would be essential. It would be a nice change form the almost obligatory 100% full zerk meta. Normal bosses to keep diversity.

Objects would now be affected by fire (but then at 1 to 5 times the normal burning dmg-effectiveness… , either doing DPS through fire (calculate the total fire dmg) or create a stack for objects) but only for burning. (could also work for gates in WvW, add fire to weaken the doors, also possibly making smoke for a nice visual/ hampering vision, creating more oportuninty for enemies to sneak in close. But that’s something else & a bit off-topic)

well… that’s about it. Hope it’s implementable
