And you thought immortal thieves, mes, warriors were annoying enough as it is now!
On karma days I love going to the entrance of blue keep in eb and ambushing people as a quaggan. Its hilarious to see warriors try to dodge my super splash attack then run away with gs5

I wouldn’t get my hopes up for this one. If any of that was coming this patch they would’ve hinted through the trailers for instant max hype. Maybe down the road though
I would say acidic and adrenal implant. Adrenal and invigo would basically give about the same, but adrenal is unremovable. And acidic is on a significantly shorter cd than armor mod.
Now that sitting duck has a cooldown, I wish they would readd glue bombs immobilize pulses again.
Yeah you can get around 3 hips shots in one flame jet. If you go power then flame jet does power damage around 2/3 as much as hip shotting, with the last burn doing a little more than last third. But it only does more damage if every tick hits. Every. Tick.
YOU CANT STOP ME FROM PEW PEWING! ARCHER 4 LIFE!
I’m going to just ask the obvious here…. How has this not been closed yet lol
Weekend
That lol. Best time to post anything match up related is on the weekend. Then you got about 2 days to discuss it as much as you like
Considering that the top posts are currently almost all about stealth, I would say in general that there is a high discontent between non-thief/mes players and how stealth can be fought against. I did see their philosophy on balance stream and while they did point out why stealth doesn’t really have hard counters (they don’t want builds to be completely shut down) all I could think about is that… ironically that is really what stealth does to some builds. Not all builds have access to melee weapons and the “anti stealth technique” of swinging wildly into the air. Play with pistols or other weapons that require a target to hit anything and watch how painful fighting stealth becomes.
Personally I’m not asking for adding in anything that completely shuts down stealth, but more ways to play against it, like sic em. Similar to how someone has to “dance” around a warrior on endure pain till it leaves, forced revealed through sic em forces someone to dance around without stealth for a bit and doesn’t completely shut down any build.
I would like to devs to think about adding more skills similar to sic em, that is all.
Stating the obvious but stealth is very hard to play against, since it basically gives control of the battle to whoever spams it like an addiction.
Telling a pet to guard an area wouldn’t kill off thieves/mesmers since it still requires some estimation of where the enemy is/could go next as as such is more of a form of counterplaying stealth and taking some of the control of the flow back instead of a straight up hard counter.

Lorewise the whole point is that the races have to unite together to fight off the dragons, which they can’t do if they can’t set aside their differences and fight each other. Cause of that, I don’t believe we will ever get factions or else it makes the whole point of uniting moot.
I don’t think it was kiel this time. Definitely the work of another evil sylvari rising. All throughout ls1 sylvari didn’t let us down, they always brought trouble and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

That fight between him and yumichika was one of my favorites, it just had everything.
But anyways yes, bald mustached norn wearing that thing heck yes!
Every engie has been silently acquiring hammer skins, glad Im not the only one xD
That just makes flame blast awkward to aim and use tho
I ran into an engineer earlier today well, more like he started hip shoting me while I was roaming on my ranger. After I counter attacked with lb he decided to get close to me and start trying to kill me with the flamtrhower but all I could think of was “lol flamejet”. I feel semi bad now after exploiting flame jets weakness:
melee range while strafing around him. Watch all his attacks fail miserably but in short: yes it is still painful to use. Decent utility tho
I think it was the cloaking device that was throwing people off and made them think it was hax since that trait is rarely used now. Anyways good show lol
I don’t believe nerfing elixir gun will make people use gadgets more for their stun break. Gadgets already had a chance to become useful when they were given a gm trait, yet it was blown when gadgeteers effect was shown. I’m sure I’m not the only one whose first reaction was “what the heck does gadgeteering have to do with boons??” Lots of ways to get people to play gadgets and the devs decie magically getting a boon for no reason would be what gadgeteers do? My point is gadgets will continue to be a largely unoticed part of engineers until they get real traits . If I want boons ill drink elixir b and go into alchemy tyvm and I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks this way
Personally I am okay with the current amount of condi removal we have right now. If we build around condi removal we have enough for almost any encounter (Tho sometimes that burst condi build thieves can do is absurd). But taking it means less damage, defense or utility which is fine with me since engies should be a little weak to conditions.
If two engies are insta win then 5 should get us tol2. But we all now the players know how to counter them there and theyll just roflstomp us
I think the dice issue in the black lion chests is more important (opposites should always add to 7) but this is a really tough issue too
This does seem real bs to me since my group is from my guild, and on the chance that we get a llama one of us is going to miss out. It is demoralizing that one of us won’t get the mini and it was a tough choice, but I had to sign myself up as the sub cause of it.
There is a thread for this already. Would link it but I’m on my super small screen phone.
The basics of Ritualist class were used to create the Engineer. If we ever see the Ritualist again, it will be totally different from GW1.
i think you mean the guardian(spirit weapons, meditations) . nothing about the engineer other than maybe their kits screams ritualist to me. Now i would LOVE to see the ritualist brought back loved and miss mine alot.
The devs did mention that though that engineers were kind of a spiritual successor to ritualist. Like in how they summon stationary allies, kits (aka bundles) and so on
Although we don’t have super bursts that’s usually required in zergs we are still great for group sizes up to medium.
Actually even if we don’t have bursts we do have great defensive mechanics: healing, stealth, boons etc we got every kind of support a group can ever need. Which you can always mention next time someone says they don’t need engies.
They would try to patch flame jet with a 10% damage increase to chilled targets
Or have air blast inflict 2 seconds of chill, but only if they are already chilled first.
It really is terrible. Lucky for us our elixir autto attack underwater easily makes up for it. Its like the hip shot equivalent for underwater if not better. Homing torpedo is the underwater equivalent of pistol 1 if not worse :S
I bought the pistol because I was still using the seathunder pistol and my guild was making fun of me
The Mistforge mace is by far the best mace skin in the game but I can’t bring myself to get it as I’m not a fan of mace skills.
Heck yeah I love how that mace looks too bad engies don’t have mace options :/ and mace skills suck on other classes

A skill trap. When triggered, it increases the skill level of bad players by 200%.
Only plays thief.
Calls others bad.

Fatigue trap- causes full cd of skills when passed through it
I would consider it bug exploitation, hopefully anet does too. But if you see that happen you can try dropping a print on top of them to block the resurrection (does not always work but makes it harder) or have call on map chat for help and have 3 guys ready to drop the mes again as soon as he gets up. Trait on offensive lines while you wait for him to rev
I am sad my engineer cannot do rainbows. We need more rainbows please. And penguins while were at it
Its the devs way of saying the chests are rigged against you as they try to protect your money from the economists working at anet!
Don’t buy keys cause half the loot will be mystery tonics!! Mystery!
Buffing flamethrower is dangerous. The iconic attack of the flamethrower, the auto attack, is very consistant and would need some serious creativity to balance effectively without making it stupidly easy to play for pvp/pve. I agree we need more DPS on the FT kit, but as it is now it’s probably my favorite kit just because I can certainly work it into builds and it’s a lot of fun and useful already.
I mostly just want flamejet to have a wider cone, which could help with misses while running and reinforce its status as an aoe attack without overbuffing it.
Even if a lot of our skills and traits are viable that does not mean nothing else deserves a buff. Imo the devs goal should be to try and get all skills as viable as possible and really some of our skills are still a little far from there.
The constant nerfing of ip has caused flame jet to become unviable and this has yet to be looked at other than the awkwardly tacked on 10% damage to burning enemies. Mortar is still subpar unless you like to imagine it as a throw an ice field every 120 seconds elite.
I don’t think anyone is asking for buffs to supply crate or prybar or ip. Is it so bad to get mortar buffed? Would that really cause a power creep? Most likely not :P
Btw anyone remember when ip was adept and had no icd? Ahhh good times, it actually made flame jet viable and fun.
Engi’s dont need more weapons, Thats what kits are for.
So what you are saying is that kits or gtfo…what about all of the other utilities they have? How often do you hear of gadget engineers? Heck even turret engineers run with a kit.
The way engineers are set up at the moment requires them to have at least 1 kit on them at all times. if not more. That seriously limits their build options. Having access to some melee skills would be nice especially if they can use some of their other utilities and actually trait with those in mind rather than “trait for kit first”. Especially considering all the players who keep crying for melee only. and melee is the best. Engineers get tool kit for melee. That takes up a utility slot. and tool kit is stupidly slow damage wise. On the terms of hammer guardian slow. The guardian gives protect to all(up to 5? I forget.), damage to enemies around in the symbol and potentially healing if traited, where tool kit gives a weak vulnerability and a bunch of situational defensive/support skills.
In short engineers need a standard melee weapon to go to that actually doesn’t rely on their utility slots to open up more viable builds.
I’m a warrior. I’ll trade you my mace for your flamethrower.
Take it.
Enjoy your garbo weapon.
Flamethrower does significant damage when built for it (Its a power based weapon not condi just fyi) yet compared to other options it is lackluster. Bomb and Grenade kits come to mind (when traited for).
Any damage flame jet can do goes down the drain when you and your opponent have a strafing match at close range and half the hits miss
Okay so in the registration it has for first qualifiers July 12 (NA) / July 13 (EU) and on the newspage its Europe: July 12, 2014 at 10AM PDT (17:00 GMT)
North America: July 13, 2014 at 10AM PDT (17:00 GMT). I think theres a mistake somewhere
Can the team name be different from guild name? I’m thinking yes but wanna make sure
I think more boon stripping on underused weapons and traits to give them more playtime. Like flam jet or fumigate strips a boon every x seconds if you got deadly mixture traited.
ps only gave an engie example since thats what im most comfortable with
My guild formed a team a bit ago but realistically we can’t win legendaries, will go for fun and hopefully win some other stuff. Does anyone know how many backup players are allowed though, since we might need a few to switch out frequently ( busy irl).
Also, how about forming a tournament of legendary beginners anet? No high profile teams allowed :S

Since we are talking about balance design philosophy, I hope you talk about stealth mechanics in this game and why it is the way it is right now.
I am intrigued about it because until sic em was changed, gw2 is the only game I knew that did not have a hard counter to stealth, and even now it is very limited. How do you expect players to counter stealth in your game and doesn’t the team feel swinging a sword wildly in the air hoping you are hitting something is a little clumsy for “e-sports”? Or if a class is so heavily balanced on stealth that any non stealth based build suffers because of it?
I would be okay with being immune to a certain condition for a few seconds after cleansing that condition off. Sometimes conditions cleanses just can’t keep up with the amount of incoming ones.
The same place chicken nuggets come from!

“I’ll make this quick.” Said the op. And with those words, one of the longest running threads in this forum begins.
Not as much as I used to. Whenever i would find someone else roaming its either a thief with constant stealth or an usain bolt warrior. They really take the fun out of winning when its extremely hard to catch them so ill rather go in a pair to at least have a chance of stomping them.
You remember how everyone used to laugh at those useless turrets? Well those laughs have now turned into tears
Pet: Penguin
