Power to you my man. Totally agree and support this post – introduced GW2 to 2 friends, they were playing before patch but both decided to quit it after the update.
One made it to lvl 31 the other lvl 22…

I have over 800 thief pvp games and mained thief, recently created an ele.

I still find thief alot more fun, ele is a very different play style. IMO you shouldnt go 1 or the other, play both

D/p and P/d are still very viable as they have fixed the steal bug. S/d… cant say much about that

with so many blast finishers, really dont need this lol

evade his f1, use lightning 3, 4, 5 and water chills alot.
Youd prob wana pop ur glyph in water or lightning then the second time its up pop it in fire when u have lots of might. IDK learning as well

This doesn’t seem like the right sub forum… but whatever. Anyway, I firstly understand that the OP is making an extreme claim, and this may not be the actual person’s thoughts. If the OP wishes to prove his point as fact, the best thing would be to post on the forums and spread word to people to vote on the best duelers they’ve come across. The names which pop up the most frequently will duel, along with Kronos if he wasn’t voted up, and thus we can give a more confident statement regarding the best dueler. Of course, this tourney would require the “No Rules” rule, as a boxer who can’t beat a below-the-belt kicking thug can’t call himself the best fighter, right? And it also isn’t like only the best duelers go into tournaments like this, so there, of course. Some simply duel for fun and don’t want to spend money or commitment on it, so it should be a very open and easy to understand tournament.

Well, that’s just my two cents on the matter.

You can use fast casting kitten, you press the key and it happens where your mouse is

for now get Caltrops asap. You drop them on enemy camps and watch them all die.
Sword/Pistol is epic build as well, your 3rd skill evades damage and hits all enemies infront of you

Minute the warrior class requires a shred of skill you shelf your warrior. Good fight noobs, no more passive bull kitten play from you, your class actually has a risk to it… What every other class has had for a long time

finally this bull kitten class is being nerfed. Thiefs have suffered enough nerfs in this game mate, warrior has been buffed to god mode they are so good you can have 5 warriors and win in spvp, you can dungeoun with 5 warriors + in WvW the sustain and dps you get with warrior is unchallenged by any class.

Oh and you can have downs syndrome and still be good at warrior, cant do that with any other class.

So good fight to this trash, finally you have to use some skill and not just passive play

Signet of fire on shortbow
Signet of intelligence and air on pistol/dagger

start with shortbow drop poison and some dps, Use cluster bomb then steal in with f1 as you weapon swap to pistol and lay down black power, hit them twice then press 2 to heartseeker. You will gain stealth and all 3 hits will be a crit due to intelligence. Then hit them with backtab and press 4 to headshot them and interrupt their heal. Usually most classes are dead – Only Engi and Gaurdian really survive this.

If they glyph away then use your inifiltrators signet to follow.

Utilities are:
HiS- Infilitrators signet, Shadow refuge, Shadowstep and elite: Thieves guild… or if you really want basilisk venom but its kittenty.

Good points:
Can easily interupt enemy stomps.
Blinds with black powder to stomp any downed class.
Huge DPS, if you pull of the combo correctly you can drop anywhere from 10 – 14k dmg from the moment you steal to your backstab (2 – 3 seconds) and then interrupt the heal or blink with headshot.
Lots of initiative regen/Gain.
Steal is short on cooldown and it poisons, damages, gives you boons, access to vigor, strips boons and interrupts.
Best when supporting fights already happening – E.G your necro vsing someone for home, you rock up mid fight and burst the enemy, then support other team mate.

Bad things:
No Condi Clear – Literally get destroyed in seconds by condi heavy builds that jump you.
Not good in large fights.
1v1 can be hard if you get the jumped on first (3 on shortbow is your friend in this situation).

Learning D/D Ele at the moment, but main a thief so familiar to light weight classes.

Soldiers – 922 power 643 toughtness and Vit

vs
Celestial – 434 of power, precision, toughness, vit, ferocity, healing, condi dmg

Been using soldiers with a 0/10/0/30/30 build

worth the swap to celestial? cant tell the difference at my current experience (bout 5 hours of play lol)

they continue to ignore pvp not realising that pvp is the addiction that keeps gamers coming back. That feeling when you have something to fight for cannot be replaced by any jumping puzzle or troll boss

the first month of this game i didnt know you could use left mouse button to control movement. that was a life changing event for me

if you get autobalanced you automatically get a win regardless of which team wins in the end.

not sure what arena net did, but i quit gw2 a few months ago and felt PVP was dying. Ques were long and even hot join was filled with the same people.

Now PVP is thriving, ques are very short and there are loads of people in the mists.

Its epic, what brought about this change? we need more of this

I’ve recently had a lot of experience with this while playing on the Chinese servers (3s latency during the best times).

Regardless of the 3s+ delay in every action I was still very successful (180wins 3 losses from yolo Q’ing into tpvp). Of course a lot of it had to do with my experience playing on NA and then versing the inexperienced Chinese players, but regardless I think the advice is solid:

It comes down to knowing very common openers, rotations, and the general flow of combat. It’s not hard to reliably anticipate the future of a battle and the more familiar you are with match-ups the better you can predict and react to those actions before they take place, or in this case, while they take place. Knowing when you should burst, but then understanding that with your 2-3 second delay the burst won’t take place for that delay and so it’s all about timing, even when you’re not really interacting with the up-to-speed actions from the enemy.

That’s how I managed to combat high ping ~400-2,700 ping on the chinese servers.

Lux also dc’s intentionally/logs off when kitten goes south in solo que in NA. ^^

Pretty amazing that I keep a 62% win ratio by doing this with over 1k games played. Maybe I should teach people.

Thanks for the great responses guys, like I said engineer is a much better class then thief. No point to even play thief now a days. Im glad so many people can see how weak thief has become.

I actually meant to write a guide about this and im so glad you made this thread. To lower the lag you get from the server you need to change your item build as something in your build is casuing lag.

If you play p/d for example the lag should go away, or try cvhanging the set of runes you have equiped. Worked wonders when i tried

I am looking for a spvp build that deals high condition damage and has a high base HP.

Right now the build im using i have 27k hp but not sure of the condi damage.

The utilities i use are >> condition heal, the wall of fear, signet of spite, specteral walk and the flesh golem.

I like the staff and scepter set up ( i think i have dagger with scepter)

If you know a build that you think will suit me id appreciate the guidance, may even gift some coins.

Having played thief since the beginning of Guild Wars 2, I would like to discuss the reasons it needs to be buffed

1) Invisibility

First of all, invisibility is almost useless.

You can still take damage, we should have the ability to put on an aura that damages opponents in a radius while we are invis

2) we dont hit enough damage

Thiefs should haev 10% damage increase. Our class is based on damage not surviving.
We need more

3) Not enough stun breaks.

Thiefs can be stunned and killed easily with close to no stun breaks bar 1.

4) Not enough health

Way to low hp

Will add more as time progresses
