the patch actually seems like a good change for thiefs, im looking forward to the initiative gain being increased and this will benifit my 10 30 0 0 30 build in PVP.
The sword change may raise the skill cap of the sword set, however the buff to pistol whip could bring S/D back into play.
I just wish they would add some more condi clear for us

imo infi strike needed this change. It was just to easy to stay alive unless you the player decided to over commit. WIth the change coming to PW S/D could be back in action

In this condi meta where we have necros and engis galore, you guys know how conditions can really be a game breaker for thief if you dont remove them fast enough. This has caused us to go into the SA tree in order to get the condition removal trait.
With the nerf to infiltrators and the agility signet as well as shadow step being on a long cd (way to slow to reliably remove condis)
EVERY thief build will have to have 10 in SA for the condi removal and possibly a set of lyssa runes to help with this.
10 trait points wasted because arena net has nerfed us and not given us an alternative way to do this.
Unless I am missing something here, I see this as a huge problem for all thief builds as these trait points could be better spent in other trait lines with the upcoming changes however will be necessary due to the current meta.

No thief in this meta will ever go into SA; Pain response in acrobatic, Shadow return from In strike and lyssa runes are everythign a thief needs in order to face engies and necros ( infact the match up against those 2 classes has always been a 50-50% IN ACRO S/D THIEF CURRENT ITERATION).
With Shadow return nerfed, any S/D thief ( or S/P) will be dead meat to any half decent engi-necro ( Warriors as well) with all other thief options absolutely not optimal in the current meta.
The thief is doomed, but not for the reason you listed .

lkol at these be proud posts… seriously does any other class have to perfect their skill level so kittening high just to be decent on a class like this. With all these nerf bats coming in and thief being in an already kitten state we are guna get kitten on even more with barely no roaming potential left.
ALl the top tier thief players are leaving this game, caed quit one of the only good spvp d/p thiefs, yishis ditched his thief for engi and lux the rank 9 thief hasnt even logged into his thief for a week.

I’m happy with the changes, I can take my D/D thief into WvW and continue wrecking exactly as hard as I was last week and the week before. Maybe even a bit stronger with a base 33% increase in initiative. Reduced aftercast on Pistol Whip means it’s likely going to start hitting before the enemy isn’t stunned again. Sundering Strikes got a great buff, with no ICD, it’s going to be a good few stacks of Vulnerability on more bulky targets.
Hey, maybe some of the Thieves that were playing D/P that are complaining now will go start other classes. Naturally they’ll be new to the class and bad. More kills for me, I guess.
Only your base ini increases your overall gain will drop with the nerf to crit tree and unless you still pick up qr or infi signet.
D/d may be okay in wvw for now, but in tpvp most thief build are junk with the new changes.
Oh and I may be a free kill for the first week I play, but I’ll get you back once I learn my new class

How do you expect thiefs to clear the several conditions on them with out continuously using stealth or infiltrators?
Sure signet of agility, and shadow step clear them but only work every 45 seconds… The number if times I’ve died from burning or simple conditions because I didn’t stealth makes me lol

Yes I have experienced this as well as stealing up to my target and not gaining their skill. This can sometimes happen if they dodge perfectly as you steal up to them… It doesn’t happen too often tho

Last night as I was putting on my stretchy j’s while drinking a glass of thompsons grape juice I had a thought about the warriors greatsword.
It is indeed a great weapon however I feel it does not have enough mobility and immobility, what we need is for the greatsword to bind opponents on auto attack immobilizing them 1 second per hit and for an increase in range on our 3 and 5 skills as they are medicore in the most basic form in this current state.

Lately I’ve been trying to use non stealth builds, as I feel stealth is too mainstream every thief is using it as much as they can…
However, with the current state of the sword build they are so weak compared to dp and dd or pd.
S/p is barely viable with pistol whip relying on bassi or drvourers
And s/d is decent and fun but backstabbing build achieve much quicker burst through heartseeker. Shadow shot ANd back stabs.
Is anet going to give a boost to sword anytime soon?

dont worry about traits just put them in whatever, i just randomly add them. Your main weapon is healing signet with hammer and a longbow swap. THats all you need to worry about. OH and skill utilities jjust go with whatever youll still facerape
Seriously after reading all these nerf threads you people have it wrong.. I was fighting a thief in spvp with my heal signet on (600 reg) and we were ranging from far , now u c I have 30 in defence but this little grunt could still damage me , max defence shud mean 0 dmg.
I mean he barely got me down 2k go before I hammer stunned him into next year but I feel defence trait is not strong enuf.

just roll a warrior, better investment
remove stun duration from hammer moves, make it an AOE melee weapon. ability to do mass aoe damage instead of keeping large groups stunned longer than any other weapon set in the game.
They dont necessarily have to nerf the class. They could just make the other classes stronger so that they are as viable as the warrior. AS of now in tPvP almost every match is either a full team of warriors vs warriors, or warriors/mesmers with the occasional necro.
May as well call the game Warriors vs Mesmers rather then Guild wars

Yeah, not only are our axes worse but we dont have as much hp as thiefs and we cant go invisible. I think next patch we should get an extra 10k hp buff and be given stealth abilities, this will make the warrior good as its very hard class to play at the moment

2 bases on opposite ends, 20 minute match… you must capture the flag and run it back to your base without the enemy killing you. Requires some to defend some to attack and there are different supplys like med kits, explosives, siege that help stop the enemy.

Thief is not easy as people make it seem, if you make a mistake as a thief you are 99% going to die, i have both a warrior and thief and I can tell you warrior is the most stupid noob class, you can make 100 mistakes and still tank the opponent and then turn around and perma stun dps them, I mean you can even rally yourself back to life kill your opponent and then die… it is freking stupid… lmfao
30-30-10 or 0-20-30-20-0 are the 2 good dp builds imo. Focus on backstabs and staying alive and eventually you will start to get better. Just dont expect to win any one vs one fights for the first few days playing this build as you have to know when you can fight and when you have to reset (which you will learn as you play thief more).
Maybe watch yishis videos on youtube he is a good dp thief player.

35+ starts to feel blobby to me, but for t1’s sake, I’d say hitting 45 or 50 players in one zerg is privilege to claim “blob.”
An omniblob, which I believe is synonymous with monozerg, implies the entire map is running together in a zerg. That’s about 75+ people. Like any decent WvW karma train, basically.

On JQ bl 2 hours ago, TC was roaming with a blob (70+) and JQ had around 40 – 50, you guys gave us a run for our money. It was impressive to say the least it didn’t last too long though… but good to see you guys pulling t1 numbers.

leave guild wars 2 all together and possibly play Wow or some other mmo
