Ok thanks good to know, its happening so much now im getting completely frustrated.

Literally just now i was in a match with the same friend and we had a warrior quit playing because he couldnt do anything. We were winning at this point and he said this is B******** and ran off from a 2 vs 1. He didnt do enough dmg to hurt the guardians and he couldnt survive for 10 sec in 1 vs 2 fights.

So because he quit our other warrior quit, the score was 280 to about 320 and they just quit. And we were winning 275-250 earlier in the match, this expansion better come quick cause this is getting silly dumb.

No, matchmaking is still active.

And even if the system was perfect, the human element of it will always be an issue. If you’re running into matches where you have bad players, unfortunately that means your MMR isn’t high enough for serious people to play.

Not really, the system many times punish you to have an high mmr because they put you with low mmr player to get an average mmr similar to oppenent team (and you basically need to carry bad player and in gw2 is not really easy).

I remember there was an old optic about high mmr.

Team leaderboard will reward teams for their effort. Not only with the leaderboard prestige (because it will be an ELO leaderboard + decay) but with exclusive rewards at the end of the season. And the final leaderboard positions will mean the access to major tournaments.

The issue is if teams got wins because they chain stomped soloer team. It’s not fun at all for both of sides and it will make team leadeboard a joke.

So Full premade should face only other full premade, NEVER other roster compositions.

This

- Team ELO leaderboard
- team rewards at the end of the Season
- Access to major tournaments with leaderboard

+ ofc every other personal reward everyone can get with the pvp leagues.

Honestly the effort to create a team is well paid, i don’t see reasons to make the entire Team structure a joke, going against soloers and ruining at the same time the solo experience.

BTW you don’t need to spam UA, just once or maybe twice if only 1 tick remains to decap a node after the first UA.

I think there is a bug with this finisher, i can’t always hear the sound of Mad King’s laughter when I stomp someone.

Sometime is just muted.

Dodging before the pulse should avoid the displacement as well. I didn’t test if it passes threw blocks, but i guess it shouldn’t (beware of unblockable traits though)
These are worth a good testing!

If i remember correctly dodge doesn’t work because basically Unyielding Anguish is a field put on the ground with a 4 sec duration and you’re out from this field until it ends.

Maybe blocks but i’m not sure about this.

It’s the reason because this skill is super strong against shadow refuge for example.

Dunno maybe the displace could be considered a condition, so resistance, zerk stance and other things can be a counter.

Only stability is not really much, basically you need only to wait the end of stability to get an easy decap.

With Jade Winds i think it’s the strongest Revenant skill.

I see some issue it can create in Conquest mode, with a too easy node decap (better than old engi decapper)

The lack of population is because NOW there is no reason to go in ranked and there is no reason to make a team.

With this new system, there are A LOT of reasons to go in ranked and make a team.

I recently watched a Wooden potatoes video about pvp leagues (this —> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9YVo0Cqubo ).

He is a pve and www player and he does spvp only for daily. After this announcement, he is really hyped and he seriously will want to try to show how good he is and where he can end.

At the same way, A LOT of more players (pvers and www players too but in general every players and new players) will do the same thing.

So, avoiding these issues (queue in hotm + soloers vs premade) is very important to avoid they leave early the pvp.

I really hope they don’t miss this chance.

I like to play with my wife and one of my friend. That is 3 people one of them is a girl, one of them has crappy internet and frequent dc or lagg. Why should we play against a five man premade with teens who have unlimmited freetime teamspeak ect. ? We would loose every match we play.

I agree with the fact you shouldn’t face full premade BUT your friend with bad connection shouldn’t play ranked match.

This is because lag and dc will ruin your experience and the game to the other 2 guys you have in your team.

If sometimes I have a ping > 100 i don’t go ranked and i prefer to do something else.

I think now we are in a “waiting for HoT” spot so the issue is not really big.

But try to consider this scenario (the future scenario).

Hot released- a lot of new stuff, new game mode, new pvp leagues, new team leaderboard.

And most of all. A lot of people. A lot of people will buy the expansion, a lot of people will come back to try the new expansion.

And you have no idea how many complaints will be and how many people will quit the game with the combo “struck in hotm while queuing + facing a full premade when i’m solo”

It will be the worst boomerang ever.

It’s very possible that your MMR is SO high that the matchmaker doesn’t expand enough to grab people to play with.

it should not come as a shock to any of you when you see a player with 10% winrate walking around with that PvP exclusive legendary backpiece.

I’m fine with this, skins and such should be earn able by anyone who puts in the effort, it’s a PvP exclusive because you need to do PvP to get it. Give leaderboards/titles/badges to those who care about win rates.

PvE legendaries also don’t require skill, just playing enough.

I agree if they put Lengedary items in pvp a time effort is required but probably soloer will prefer farm the pve version instead of suffering against premade in queue if they don’t solve the problem.

Follow the pain:

6+ min in queue without doing nothing + umbalanced match soloer vs premade = 15min.+ wasted

Rinse & repeat x2/3 + quit at the end

They really need to solve these 2 issues before HoT (queue time in Hotm + premades)

Yeah and you don’t need to split the queue, you can do this in the matchmaking formula.

Same shared queue is possible if some combination NEVER meets each other (like Full premade vs everything different)

I want to show you an easy prediction:

1- Team leaderboard. It will be a skill leaderboard. Elo system + fixed decay = skill. If you have the best team, you will be in the higher spot.

2- PvP leagues: basically farming. Main issue is that Full premade team and soloers have the same queue. This will be a nightmare for soloers and an easy farming if you have a good team.

So best way to climb quickly the division and team leaderboard is to have a good full team.

There is no alternative.

Honestly a farming system with soloqueue (only soloers or duo max) + skill team leaderboard i think it would be the best system.

Anet is very close to do this, they only should apply filter to matchmaking forcing full premade to always face other full premade.

Honestly i don’t aspect a revolutionary system, basically replace points with pips and probably this will be the new system. At least in division where you can lose pips. A positive/neutral matrix in divisions where you can’t lose pips.

I mean they worked for more than 6 months on this system, i think they want to continue in this way.

Probably there will be some modification in matchmaking and odds calculation but i think the new system will be similar.

Team leaderboard will have an elo system with decay but pvp league will be grinding i think

The issue is if Full 5 men team will be matched with soloers, the soloer experience will be terrible and not really fun for a 5 men team farming soloers. But at least they have great chance to win and have a progression in the Team leadaerboard and divisions. Not much of course but always better than lose a game.

Plasma is by far the most op think we could have. I would hide this post from Anet if I were you.

We are like bad kids asking for gifts, and they are capable of nerfing plasma.

Honestly is a skill designed to have all boons so it needs an update with the current boons list. Same with Lyssa runes that is not exclusive only for thieves.

You don’t get Plasma everywhere, it’s a stolen skill from Mesmer and everyone knows the actual state of Mesmer and the actual state of Thief.

So no, we don’t need to hide this topic, plasma and lyssa need an update with the current boons list.

Besides that for example I Play Mesmer in WWW too and it’s hilarious how easy is to kill a thief from a Mesmer prospective, most of all if you use a condi build. If you want to go forward and you want to try a chronomancer is a show when you cast slow on thief basically you can laugh in front of him when he hits you.

These 2 boons with a balanced duration (like 3s) could help to balance the match up.

Whats the point of having divisions then? I’m not a great player but I want to test myself against players of similar skill not continually get farmed by players in the legendary division. I’ve had my fill of that in ranked leagues in other games.

And then there’s the issue of having a soloq, there simply must be one for this to work.

It depends on new matchmaking formula, without knowing it, we can’t be sure about nothing.

Maybe there will be a priority for people of the your same division but it won’t be exclusive to not create queue time issues.

I repeat, DoTa and LoL have the same concept.

Well, in the chinese server, it’s normal to have only 20 people queue at the same time in rush hour. Yes we are loosing tons of players and no wonder why we always get 4th in WTS.
So what if 7 of them are in division 1, 7 of them are in division 2, 6 of them are in division 3… then nobody will get a match! they will be in queue forever…

Players WON’T be matched with only people of the same division.

For now yes, but with PvP Leagues you can climb tiers and divisions only in ranked.

Long stealth is only an example but honestly no professions should have this ridicolous amount of stealth without any effort (if you try with a thief you need to invest a lot of intiative to blast/leap, mesmer is just running and press buttons).

Double elites like double TW or double MoA can be super really strong in many cases.

I Really think F5 should be considered like a strong elite skill for CD and it shouldn’t recharge elites.

For example i play PU mesmer in WWW and it’s ridiculous how easy is to disengage from an entire zerg or running half of the map without be out of stealth.

This is more a PU issue but of course using The Pledge, Alacrity, and F5 with double mass invisibility amplify the issue

Maybe for ranked the better solution is to bring back a solo queue + full team queue and leave unranked to a more casual experience.

I mean, play with a friend is fun but if you are forced to face 4+ or 5 premade is a no sense, for both of sides.

Probably for the first season we could see how it works the entire structure with more people and with a modded matchmaking, maybe at the end the solo experience could be not really a nightmare but i’ve some doubt.

The Concern is to give the freedom to join in 2/3/ or 4 and at the end the experience is bad for everyone, i dunno if it worth.

With this system the faster and safer way to gain better division and pips will be going with a good team. More team mates you have, more chance to win the game you will have because you can control more variables.

This will have a consequence for soloque experience, basically always you will have a partial premade against and in your team, so it all depends on if you have the better partial premade team.

Soloqueue experience will be really random and probably a nightmare, this is inevitable with a shared ranked queue.

in the old leaderboard there was a difference after the first 2 weeks, because basically system was bugged and people could farm points without any problems.

They fixed it and losing a match was really more heavy in score. Ofc Leaderboard was falsed from the fact people gained like more than 100 pts in the first week.

They will do some modification to odds / final score because they have now 2 test seasons data and it’s a lot of data, so they can improve a bit score and matchmaking.

in DOTA and LOL you can face people in different divisions ofc, probably people on your division will have some priority but it’s not exclusive for sure.

There will be not a personal leadeboard, only a team leaderboard. Personal progression will be in game.

Im more worried about the Lost ranks/ Win Ranks ratio, i think it need to be bigger than one, probably losing 2 and winning 1?

It will work, with some modification, like the old matrix odds/final score.

You’ll gain/lose pips like the old score when you had 0/1/2+/3 or 0/-1/-2/-3

Of course only when you will be in a division you can lose pips.

win ratio doesn’t count.

Honestly i like the general F5 concept, I really think is great and you can use it in a lot of different ways, but probably some combination is really too strong.

Honestly, I feel like continue split does not work like what its description stated.
If the Mesmer is going to their “precast health, CD, status” the stealth should be reverted to unstealth status too when f5 ends. So does all the boons and conditions.

Also I think F5 should have a harder restriction to cast after the IP baseline, considering how powerful it is.

It should require a minimum of 2 illusions up before it can be casted, so people can’t abuse this out of combat.

It works as intended, I mean, Continuum split opens a time window and everything you do in this time window has an effect.

Basically It’s like a time travel, and its duration depends on how many clones/phantasm you shatter.

Healing is a little different in concept

Exampe

I have 7k life —> press f5 (with 3 clones) --> enemies burst me hardly, almost dead, i Heal and im at 12k life —> F5 expires --> I’m on 7klife and i have again my heal.

You need timing&skill to use it properly, and the duration is really a huge component. For example if you open a Continuum split with 3 clones, enemies should destroy your continuum shift or basically they are wasting time. If you open a Continuum split with 0 clones (only IP) you need to precast 1sec. more CD skills or use instant skill immediately after your F5.

It’s super powerful, no one negates this, for this reason i think some combos shouldn’t be allowed, like for example using elite skills twice.

And probably the CD needs to be >100

I think the answer is yes.

If I understood correctly the entire system will replace the old personal leaderboard, so you can see your progression ingame, your rewards ingame (badge title etc).

Basically no more external website for personal leaderboard with score, win/loss (you have it on your panel)

Pips you gain/lose basically follow a similar logic we had with the old score matrix, so with odds and final score to calculate how many points you won/lost.

We’ll have a Team leaderboard on external website, and it will be a MMR leaderboard with a fixed (probably but not sure) decay.

And the position of your guild will be used for high tournaments, for sure ToL and WTS, dunno for ESL (maybe not).

Tell me if I’m wrong.

I played a lot chrono and i can say F5 is a little too much with elite skills. I think it shouldn’t work with elite, is really too strong I can use Elite skills twice in a row (and Mesmer has really strong elites, like MoA for pvp).

And ) Agree there is too much slow.

The combination with alacrity, F5, PU, torch reduction cd in stealth and stealth itself makes amazing combo stealth, really superior to thief.

So i think, like I said, F5 shouldn’t work with elite and PU is an old issue that needs to be fixed (like for example add 1 only more sec. to stealth skills or 33%)

I agree, a little drama is good for every sport.

But in general you need to be really careful if you want to act like an arrogant guy, but your arrogance is not supported by wins.

Because first of all this is not a 1vs1 sport. It’s a team game. Your are challenging 2 world champion teams. You’re nothing in their eyes. Maybe a talent team, maybe not, playing in LAN is different that playing at your home behind your monitor. So you are putting a big pressure on your new team, saying you will have an easy win against 2 world team champion. But your words are not supported by facts, by history.

Helseth overestimated the LAN skill of his Team and probably his skill and it was a really big mistake for a captain.

But it was really fun for spectators, probably his facepalm at the end of the match against Abjured (this moment http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/v/10124128?t=6h13m57s )would deserve a Meme.

Im really worried about the toxicity level and rage can create this pvp league IF full premades with soloers can’t be solved.

On paper, this system is realy good, give pvp rewards, progression, basically everything people asked for a good pvp structure.

But if your chance of winning are super low at the beginning of the match for poor matchmaking performance + the fact you will lose tiers and peeps on higher leaghe, I’m really sure this can create super huge rage.

I don’t there will be more full premade, i think there will be more duo/trio queue so soloqueue/duoqueue it’s necessary to full a team. The big problem is when you face an entire 5 man team against random composition. This is imho the biggest issue.

Only solo/duo and full team in other queue. Better rewards for full team queue (Guild LB’s seem to kinda adress this but I wouldn’t mind better league rewards too).

Trio/Four mans just need to advertise to get 1/2 more people to play the full team queue.

This is what I’d like to see. I’m afraid Anet won’t do it for population concerns especially for the team queue but I’d say go for it and take a risk for once.
I haven’t seen people advertise for premades in a long long while. This while GW2 pvp (conquest and stronghold) are obviously team based and that’s where it shines too.

Honestly i had great games with trio queue involved in the matchmaking. Like trio vs trio + 2 solo or a 2 duo queue. And i think the Anet idea is giving good space to trioqueue or partial premade in pvp leagues and they designed the team leaderboard to be 3+ and not only 5 men.

The big issue is when you are on extremes of roster size, like a full solo against a full premades or 4 men against soloers. This shouldn’t never happen, the match is really not fun and your chance of winning is really low.

This aspect i think it could be fixed in the matchmaking formula and i hope they will do it.

Keep in mind we’ll have a strong queues separation with HoT, 4 queues in total (strong/conquest unranked + strong/conquest ranked). Adding more queues separation is not a really good idea, probably the better way is to improve the matchmaking algorithm.

I think they will make some modifcation to matchmaking algorithm to consider your league positions and i hope they can add more filters to avoid bad roster size situations.

Dunno, i think is not bad move for several reasons

1) We’ll have a legendary Backpack to do
2) They totally reworked the legendary system with a precursor journey for every legendary
3) Many of the actual legendaries are really good so not really need to introduce an entire new set immediatly.

So if you don’t like the new three legendaries you can wait and in the meantime focusing on backpack or other old legendaries.

Reel in more competition, increase WTS prize.

Well even though half this thread is just well known trolls, I’ll say what I think.
Mesmer is perfectly fine at the moment except CS and PU. The air fire nerf as well as the mirror blade makes it hard to 1 shot, its almost impossible, I’ve gotten mirror blade mind wracks ect into thieves and I’ve yet to 1 shot a thief honestly. Max I’ve taken is 90% HP and given the fact that thieves generally are really slippery, especially for mesmer and that you can’t 1 shot anything else at the moment, the damage is perfectly fine. Portal has always been here and no one complained about it for years, nothing has changed that would make people change their minds.
PU needs a bit of a nerf and CS ICD increased to 7 or 9 seconds. Most mesmers SUCK big time as is and the reason people are still doing bad vs them is because they don’t know how to play vs them, same way no one has even half a clue on how to fight ranger. It takes some time. I NEVER die to mesmers in soloq. Why? Because I know how the class works and how to counter it. When people will learn that they will see that its not as OP as they think. Before the crying was sort of justified because the mantra is indeed carrying really bad players and it was just too good (talking about stun mantra, not the mantra build, that one sucks) but I don’t see reason for crying aynmore. The ICD on CS is loooong now because the only daze we have is diversion, lockdown builds will still run the mantra but it won’t be as often as before because of the mantra cd fix so I think even CS is fine right now.
