Yeah, I’m a fan too about condis on Matth because the power damage has too many “breaks” for dodges, ress people, poison, corruption, sacrifice, range etc. so I agree for a pug more condis you have is probably the best way to kill Matthias. In my experience with a mix of condi necros + condi warriors the damage is really high and solid for the entire fight.
Just I’d use 2 druids for the simple reason Ele heal is not really popular so it’s easier to find 2x druids. Honestly PS condi warriors are not really popular too but I think they are underrated, it’s a very effective build in PUG for raids.
And I also think Ps condi war is really effective on Matth.
Basically something like this
1 Chrono
1 DH
2 PS Condi warriors
4 Necros
2 Druids
(edited by Phil.8901)
2 things
1) fix Scorcherd Earth + cleansing ire (currently bugged)
2) Make less Spammable the cycle, fulladrenaline (hb), f2, spam F1 a lot, repeat. Maybe just add more 5-10 secs. to elite headbutt. 20s for an elite is too short.
Rest is fine.
What’s the best pug setup to guarantee more chances to kill him in your experience?
Not talking about speed run or super organized guilds, just best setup for pug.
Imho necros (2-3), double reflects (mes + dh) and double druids are core.
Ofc with people Who know how to dodge.
My difficulty pug experience:
Sloth > VG
Trio << Gorseval
Math > Sabetha
So i think w1 and w2 are pretty balanced, in general (in pug) is harder to clean the entire w2 than W1 (most of all for Math).
I’d like to see a w3 > or = in difficulty
as a player that uses nomad stats in pve ..why in pvp must i fight with less then half my normal life points and low def..i don’t see the zerkers have to fight with half their attack, and crit.. that seems like a onesided deal..for those who use nomad gear.
We had Nomad amulet in spvp (minstrel’s amulet) but it had short Life because was totally broken on bunker classes like Ele and ranger, and the resulting was games like 200-200 where no one could die with no skill involved, worst than the most famous bunker mesmer meta we had after.
Maybe there is some esl games recorded around with Minstrel’s
In few words totally unbalanced for spvp, that’s why anet removed it
There are not enough people in Ruby and ofc Diamond is worst.
Personally I prefered to reach Ruby x3 with multiple accounts instead of rushing Diamond with main account and get only 20 min queue.
People need a little more time in this Season, the progression is slower than s2.
Take it easy
Just for curiosity, how long is the queue time in diamond? (Eu side)
I’m ruby but i don’t have really intention to play a lot to rush, Just to know.
For years many of us have always said there was no alternative to gw2 pvp.
In the last days, everyone knows why, I’ve veteran players in my friendlist who literally disinstalled the game and this time I’m not really sure They will come back.
I don’t think a perfect pvp game exists but I really believe a full pure pvp game has really more chance to have a great success.
Most of all if there is a Colossus behind it.
It’ s the first time in 4 years I see a big train like this.
And it’s really big this time.
More than a game history it would be useful the queue time for every game.
But it’s a fact I’ve a longer queue and games are always a blowout (nvm if you win or lose)
(edited by Phil.8901)
I feel like Anet takes the worst part from every old season matchmaker
What we have now
- longer queue
- always blowout
Where is the improvement?
My experience
- longer queue than s2
- not better games than s2
So yes, it’s worst than s2
Play overwatch.
It’s pretty sad to say for a company who should keep players in their own game, but this is really a free assist for any other game:
Recap
- No new season rewards (plenty of suggestions in the forum)
- Legendary players will start @ sapphire (less pips to reach legendary)
- No new rewards to continue to play in legendary (plenty of suggestions in the forum)
It’s really like Anet is saying “have fun to play overwatch, cya in s4 for just some hours playtime”
GG
Well, yes but bugs are bugs and need to be fixed.
There is no too much to argue about.
Oh I didn’t mean to argue for that. Obviously bugs should be fixed. Mostly arguing that their dmg is fine because its so limited and counterable. If nerfs are needed it’d prob be to defense. So they are more glassy.
I think the condi pressure is really high but there is a disengage weakness with longbow + mace/shield .
So pretty strong charatcter in fight with very good sustain/damage but not really hard to focus.
Ofc the fact now you can remove 6 condis super fast is a big advantage in a condi meta and needs to be fixed.
Well, yes but bugs are bugs and need to be fixed.
There is no too much to argue about.
A lot of condi players have a mix of viper/sinister trinkets
Armor and weapons vipers are not hard, just buy the recipe from Auric basin and switch stats on Ascended.
You can get viper amulet from living story reward.
If you have a legendary back I suggest to use it with Viper stats
Progressing you raids run, you will buy viper rings/accessory
Considering during raids I see a lot of pvp players (with different results ) I’m wondering if exist eu side, a squad of like 10/20 members who basically do raids & spvp like main content, pretty specialized.
I know maybe is more a topic for the lfg section but never seen a spvp/raids guild specialized so I’m just curious.
I think it could be really interesting for people (like me) Who really like these two contents.
To be more clear about experience level, I’d say legendary player in spvp and w1&w2 full clear.

Honestly I think Car trash deserves a ban for life from the competitive gw2 scene, not only for this Season (I mean every members).
They’re habituals, it’s not the first time they do kitten like that.
These kids don’t deserve to have a chance to gain money with this game.
(edited by Phil.8901)
Honestly the boss has too many hp.
It’s really boring, not hard, just boring and long.
Well, thx for the answer, really good.
I’m starting to think Mesmer can be good tank because they don’t have a really big dps so can base their role on support, alacrity and move the bosses where they want.
But I dunno if he needs good heals or can do down easily, never tried for now.
Like the title said, I see a lot of variations and a little confusion here.
So, what’s the best class to tank or healing and what’s the right build?
I see a lot of druid builds with really different gear and improvsied tank who switched just 1 trinket.
Need some clarification.
And it would be really helpful video about tank and healers on different raid bosses.
Ty
(edited by Phil.8901)
I’ve 2 full power professions and I’d like to make a viper set for a condi class.
Engi seems to have a little more dps/utility but I’m not really sure.
Advices?
SKYHAMMER: I continue to not like the jump pad mechanic. Other stuff is fine.
SPIRIT: Orb skills are pretty useless, you’re basically always forced to drop the orb almost immediatly if anyone attacks you. Maybe you can add just strong Skills 3-5# and unlock them ONLY if there is too much difference in score, just to have a better chance to carry the orb (dunno for example strong teleport skills only available for the loser team if the difference is 150 more pts.). Respawn and score is fine.
But honestly I’d really prefer test these maps in a OFF SEASON RANKED.
Really really disappointed here.
You said you wanted to change something for off – season but is the same like the post season 1.
Probably I rarely will play pvp in this month.
I honestly can’t believe they did this again.
It’s pure masochism, it’s like they enjoy to lose players.
I really hope with the tomorrow patch you have some good idea for off season because disabling ranked for 1 month is the worst idea ever.
Honestly I don’t really care too much about Balance for this patch, ofc I hope in warrior a little more competitive but first of all I really hope in a big improvement for matchmaking and better rewards for play/reach Legendary division.
I’ve 3 accounts in Legendary and Honestly I’m not playing at all because it’s 0/ZER0/NOTHING/nada fun for me.
And yes, I hope they don’t disable ranked for off-sesason but without a good matchmaker doesn’t realy care too much, because I won’t play PvP 100%.
I dunno if it’s worst this DDoS on a Pro League match or the fact ORng Logo disbanded and Rom and Dainshee joined TCG (WTF??)
Something really weird is happening in this Season and the fact People can do this (I mean DDoS and kittening games or disband teams during season and join other teams) is an absolute joke.
It’s really impossible for a pvp scene grows in these conditions.
You know whats hilarious about this (if its true, i dont follow to closely just occasionally watched ESL games when out with the kids and ill check it out on my phone)
There was a huge thread about OE being kicked from Apex and i others made comments about the actual infrastructure of these teams.
ESL players came to the defense of certain things but once again just like this thread. People are looking for the easiest way in/out and these are not real teams and its not a real Pro league.
I know there isnt contracts and im not sure what ESL rules and other things are involved. But even as a H.S school athlete there were serious rules about transfers, eligibility among other things. Even when you go into semi-pro stuff or try to red shirt into college sports.
Here in GW2 its almost like kids playing and 1 says i dont like you anymore or i want to be on the winning team. So things just change, like spookie and the caed thing. OE and Apex etc etc etc
Everyone has there points about each topic but im really just trying to point out that the GW2 ESL league isnt very professional, the people in it/watching act more like children and to cap it off Anet/ESL league need to do a better job of setting up rules and regulations for actual structured teams. All of which is my opinion.
I agree, this Pro League is like a kids amateur tournament, no more, no less.
No one can take serious a stuff like that.
I dunno if it’s worst this DDoS on a Pro League match or the fact ORng Logo disbanded and Rom and Dainshee joined TCG (WTF??)

It was a clear DDoS attack.
DC and DDoS attack should handled in a different ways from ESL admins. I hope they can investigate and replay the game, because the entire EU Pro League for this Season is kittened for what’s happened.
No one wants this, TCG doesn’t want to win in this way, Spectators don’t want this, Other teams don’t want this.
It was a clear sabotage, there is no drama here, it’s a pure fact pretty evident.
Honestly it’s not your fault but it’s a design fault.
It’s too easy for people who play badly to reach higher divisions.
I guess people will feel less forced to get to diamond or legendary if the Achievement do not tied to division crossed. Right now all the time gated stuff will keep people coming back even if they know they aren’t enjoying it. An unhappy player don’t perform well which lead to toxicity in game.
Diamond and Legendary should be leagues where people come naturally if they’re good.
People not good enough shouldn’t play in diamond/legendary
So forcing players to improve their gameplay is a good thing but unfortunately leagues don’t reflect skill very well so it’s only a matter of time to reach diamond/legendary.
It’s a design fault.
Honestly it’s not your fault but it’s a design fault.
It’s too easy for people who play badly to reach higher divisions.
That’s all.
At the same time there is no incentive to improve your gameplay because if you continue to grind, you ’ ll arrive to legendary before the end of the season.
And at the same time there are not enough tools to help people to improve their skill or game knowledge. This is pretty evident in Legendary where there is a hug gap between games, from a trash tier to good tier, basically depends on many esl players are in the game.
Dunno Why but since the new patch (SAB festival) sometimes I’ve more or less 30-35 fps in GW2 and if I do an alt + tab I can fix the issue and rehave 90+ fps like usual.
Is it just me?
Basically everytime I change map, I’ve 1/3 of FPS I usually have, after alt + tab, the FPS are restored
(edited by Phil.8901)
Not always people want to switch profs or they’re good at the same level with every profs.
A good pvp game needs to guarantee good quality games at every level, not only in diamond/legendary.
Locking builds and roles should be prioritized like design, the problem is in this game many times ANET (balance team) doesen’t really know which role they want to give to some prof.
There is no clear direction about balance, this is one the main issue of this game.
It’s a good reply Chaith but I really think in a game like GW2, where professions are really different and balance is really important, A MMR – league system is not enough to guarantee a good game.
Profession/builds are really important, there should be some control system on balancing the right mix sustain/damage in both of teams, or if you have a bad mix of profs against very good comp is always an handicapped game.
+1 All should flail.
+1
1. There are too many save points in emerald/sapphire. This means basically everyone can reach Ruby and higher division with no troubles.
2. A single bad player can be carried by premade. This false the competition for players who only go solo.
3. Your performance really depends on your team strength. If you have only people who explode in few secs with bad team composition there is no much you can do to save the game. Many games are decided from beginning by RNG Matchmaker.
These are the 3 main issues for this Season.

I was interested to watch Dragons vs TCG, scheduled on monday, but it seems they didn’t play.
They did play, I clearly remember watching that matchup yesterday after the other 4 matchups. That or someone has been spiking my drinks.
I even found the match in past broadcasts, not sure why you thought they didn’t play
Ty, I didn’t find this, the fact you need to look for this kind of stuff in many twitch streams with no summary doesn’t help.
Besides the fact the score on the official site is not update.

I was interested to watch Dragons vs TCG, scheduled on monday, but it seems they didn’t play.
BTW I suggest to you to be more clear about results ( More Guns Than Roses vs Super Smash already played), scheduling (sometimes games are cancelled and dunno why) and most of all, make the games available on youtube quickly (searching a game on fragmented twitch videos is not really great).
Keep attention to these details or you can’t really complain if the scene doesn’t grow (without mention the general stream quality, disconnections, freezes, camera issues etc.)
Thx

Don’t trade close or mid for far if you have them. It’s a bad trade.
Every match I lose, this is what I always see. As soon as we’ve won Mid, at least 2 rush off to cap far, thinking we’ll just win by blowout.
Instead, it just tips the balance which leads to our loss… almost everytime.I’m a core player, so keeping a player advantage at mid, or close, is the only way to really win. As soon as someone starts pushing far, that’s when the elite classes just auto wins.
I’ve got a question though.
I don’t switch classes at the start, mostly because I’m trying to learn one class at a time in PvP but also because my char slot is full, so can’t add anymore.. anyway.
Which would you recommend as a counter to necro/mesmer as a core player?
I’ve been running various Engineer builds, the latest is a P/P condi build focused on a lot of might stacking that’s actually been able to toe-to-toe against some elites, but Necros and some mesmers are still too rough, dunno how to counter them.
Switched to a rifle warrior for a bit, which was pretty strong, but quite glass cannony. As long as I had 1 elite on my side, we’d win every time because my support dmg would ruin the other side, but as soon as I was in a core team, we were fluffed.Any advice for a core to counter necro?
I don’t have char slots for a mesmer or necro :/ but I’ve got all other classes.
Engi p/p? Warrior rifle? You need to buy HoT if you want to compete at the same level.
Play META not useless builds (meta battle.com – conquest – meta )
Btw pushing far is necessary when there is the opportunity.
Pushing far with brain helps a lot to win the game.
Pushing far with no brain (and with no right professions) kill Your team many Times.
This was the meaning.

Like many of you, I’ve the feeling Ruby is too much “ok, the real game starts now”.
I think emerald and sapphire need more selection.
People reach Ruby too easily because they can’t lose tiers so it’s only a matter of grinding games and be rdy for the lucky streak.
People should not focus on statistic or luck but to improve their game play.
This should be the Essence of a competitive progression.
I know it can be brutal to hear, but emerald and sapphire need more value.
Sapphire could have savepoints after 2 tiers instead of 1, this means you can lose until 10 pips between 2 tiers. Basically a “soft” ruby
But at the same time matchmaking needs improvements and less blow out.
(edited by Phil.8901)
I know the feeling, matchmaking is totally random, everyone knows this, here it’s the best suggestion I can give to you
1) Go in duo queue (if you solo). Take a partner who is good at least like you and he plays some meta build between ele/reve/necros/mesmer/scrapper. No thief, no warrior, no dh.
2) You need to do the same, you need to play well 2 (at least)meta builds different from your partner. Go in queue and look your team composition. Switch professions (you and your partner) depending on team composition. Create the right mix of sustain/damage. If there isn’t a ele try to ask for (or relog) a good one. In general one of you needs to be ready to play ele. And stomp with the kittening ele if there are other people who are cleaving.
3) Watch ofc the enemy team composition and try to create a better mix in your favour.
4) Tactic: try to put everyone in his best position. This means if there is a thief don’t push the kittening far with other profs. If there is a mesmer split the job (close holder and far attacker) between thief and mesmer. Don’t push far with necro. Don’t stay afk on node if there is no one. Make pressure on far sometimes with the right professions. Don’t trade close or mid for far if you have them. It’s a bad trade.
This is enough to reach legendary division without big issues.
(edited by Phil.8901)
What are they gonna analyze though?
“Yeah Jim, the time when they all came to mid and spammed aoe on the point for 30 seconds was really clutch.”
“Yep, I agree with that Bill. The problem the other team had is that they didn’t spam their aoes quite hard enough.”
This comment is the proof this game needs desperately replay tool or similar.
There are a lot of good plays during a big fight or duels, many times the right timing and good positioning makes the difference.
But simply the majority of the spectators and casters can’t catch that during the streaming .
(edited by Phil.8901)
+ 2 games cancelled.
Not offense but you need to be really proud to have 2.5k viewers, are really too much for a show like that.
Compared to last season, queue time is really shorter now.
Probably the best improvement they made in this season.
IN return they just gave worse matches LUL
Not really, many times in the last season i was forced to face ESL premades when i went solo after a long queue and with an amber shopping inside the esl team.
For sure, sometimes you had bad games, but at least the queue time is always very good.
I really prefer in this way without a “perfect” matchmaking.
Compared to last season, queue time is really shorter now.
Probably the best improvement they made in this season.
Is this thread a joke? Mes is the only class that has been consistently nerfed pre and post elites, to the extent that there is just one viable build left. To nerf mes any more would be to simply remove the class from the game.
What some people do not realise is that Mes has always been a high threshold skill class to play well. It is one of the few classes that has rotations that frequently cycle through both weapon sets constantly, unlike other classes that get away with just using one set 90-100% of the time. Mistakes made in play is punishable by insta death.
Don’t mistake player skill for class superiority because the truth is Mes is not among the top classes to play at the moment nor indeed for most of its life time, in fact the only time was during its brief fling with the chrono bunker meta (boring as it was) and that was quickly remedied by the devs who smashed all and any possibility of a mes playing that build again, even to the extent of punishing skills that weren’t even used in the bunker meta. However, ele, druid, and scrapper bunker remained untouched even though they can be just as immovable as a chrono bunker was on point. This thread is truly a joke. If Mesmer is so effective (even after the overnerf), why arent more top teams ESL using them?
Maybe because there are no ESL/Pro league tournaments right now?
Every top pro/esl team (at least top4) will use condi mesmer, if they don’t use it is because they have issues to find one good enough to compete against Frostball/Helseth/Misha etc.
Majority of the people is always behind the meta and need time to realize this, but the build is really broken, you can’t make a build able to win every 1vs1, survive 1vs2 enough time to receive help (or easy disengage) or be able to use portal + moas in different places, making a huge difference in mobility and team fight leading.
Because this is what a good condi mesmer can do, if you can’t do this you’re not good enough on the actual condi mesmer.
Condi Mesmer will be top meta tier in the high level, without any doubt.
And is really cancerous.
(edited by Phil.8901)
Cant they just bring back soloQ?Seems the obvious solution.
The issue is the population, with only the soloqueue there would be some problems to start other games and long queues with other compositions.
I think this is a good compromise, I don’t see why you should be penalized like solo player if the match is unbalanced from beginnig.
In this way you contain the matchmaking fault (inevitabile in some games)
I like this suggestion.
From ruby the solo experience is terrible.
There are too many premades with optimized classes, If you don’t have the same equilibrium dps/sustain in Your team, Your game is lost from beginning.
A simple Duo queue with a support class and a strong dueler for sides has a huge impact if you don’t have the same skill/communication/builds on the other side
There is huge difference between a duo queue and solo queue, is not the same thing at all, If you have 2 expert player on one side on ts.
So yes, solo player should be more “protected”
Here is what’s wrong with your logic OP (and subsequently the matchmaking system)
So top players win and move up and it’s all happy dandy because that’s where they belong
So the system puts you exactly where you belong… Which seems great on paper… But if I am to play and lose 70+ games like i saw a dude post earlier on the forums… I think I’m going to go play league of legends or CS:GO or anything else really…
Just like sports there are few Olympians at the top but thousands upon thousands amateurs learning the sport.
Why hasn’t the sports died? Because sport associations make the athletes have fun going to the way up. Will all of them make it? No. Will most of them have fun trying to get there? Definitely!Right now a-net is not making the amateurs enjoy their e-sports. Thus most will quit and never make it to the top. Then those at the top will retire and you will have no one left to take over. Why? Because they didn’t have fun to begin with.
If you’re talking about lordrosicky (the 70+ loss streak) ofc he was trolling every topics where people started to complain about matchamaking, about super loss streak, quit gw2 because they sux etc.etc.
You’re talking about learning….well you learn nothing from bad players , and the fact many people reached diamond or legendary in the past season and now They have many issues to go over amber/emerald is because the old system was wrong and gave the chance to bad players to move in higher divisions.
You learn from good players, so bad players should be happy to face them, at least They realize what is this game at higher level.
Bad players will reach ruby for sure but they’ll need more time and they’ll need to wait better players stabilized in the higher divisions.
A bad player can’t have a faster progression than a good player. If this happens there is something wrong in the system (like in the old season).
Now this is fixed.
You don’t like that?
3 alternatives
1) Improve and move faster
2) wait 1/2 weeks and retry
3) quit or cry
(edited by Phil.8901)
Start from facts:
I don’t hear any good player complaining. They have short queue, they win, they have win streak and they go up. They’ll reach quicker the higher division. And this is good because best players deserve to be in the higher divisions.
I hear a lot of complaining from other players category. Basically the reason is always the same, I get matched with bad player qq I can’t carry them, I’ll quit GW2, GW2 matchmaking is terrible, etc. etc. I’m pretty sure this category of players do always the same mistakes like other players they like to blame.
If I’m wrong just record some “cantcarrythem” games and upload them on youtube and we really see if it’s only your team mates fault or there is “something else”.
The truth is that this matchamking is showing what is your real level and it’s saying “dude, you’re not good enough to carry enough games to go out from amber or emerald. You need to improve”
That’s all, some bad game can happen to everyone but if you are in a super long loss streak well I’m sorry but it’s not only a matchmaking fault.
I know many players like the fact they could reach legendary division in the last season, fighting only subpar players but honestly the old matchmaking was really terrible, punishing high skilled players because they moved a lower rate than bad players.
Good players have thousand of hours spent in spvp trying to improve their gameplay, a PVE player can’t pretend to have the same progression than a good pvp player.
You need to work on it like other players did.
This is supposed to be a competitive environment. If you want to go up, you need to be better.
