Yeah, too bad there aren’t 15+ other zones to kill things in.
Restoring items isn’t that common, actually.
Eleplant in the room made me think this was a topic about Trahearne for a second.
My opinion on the matter is this was obviously intentional, so the nightmarish grind is probably not going to change. We aren’t getting GW1’s wonderfully easy and satisfying gearing system back, so it’s best to accept it and play, or play another game. I want to like this game, but it’s obvious that the people in charge of making GW1 a game without MMO conventions either don’t work with ANet anymore, or have stepped back and let worse people take the reins. Personally, I decided I just wasn’t having fun, and am now playing other games.
Nightmarish? The constant complaints about DR and bots is annoying, the extreme exaggeration that comes with it is worse.
Can’t all the culture weapon skins be found on the low level heart vendors?
My problem with the DR complaints is that we have no information about it from Anet. Who’s actually hitting DR? Who’s just unlucky with drops? How much of this is just a placebo effect caused by your belief that DR is the reason for whatever ails you?
They really need to make an in depth post about how DR works, regardless of how useful it would be to bot developers.
Half the forum thinks DR doesn’t really affect anything, the other, more vocal half, claim that DR kicks in after 10 minutes and kills their weekend.
You can’t both be right.
Have you seen medium armor? Be glad you wear heavy.
Start an alt. Seems kinda obvious to me.
I’m betting more people are going to be happy about the update then there will be people complaining about how it “ruined their day”. You can’t please everyone all the time.
Of the things to kitten about, this one is insignificant.
It is 100% ban-able. Per ANET on reddit post:
“Basically, anything that touches the game client in any fashion, including but not limited to visuals, overlays, controls, inputs, outputs, automation, sounds, or play experience is going to be referred to as a mod. The Guild Wars 2 software package is meant to be delivered and used AS-IS, with zero flexibility for the end user. If your script changes anything about the game itself, how it’s displayed, or how it’s played, then it’s forbidden 3rd-party software.”

Post on official forums with ANET backing up the reddit post when “Combat Mode 1.0” was questioned about being ban-able:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Will-I-get-banned-for-using-Combat-Mode-1-0/first#post234824
Where did anyone say it was a mod?
The three faction HQ’s have a POI also.
Why would it be bannable? You can’t gain anything from it (except maybe some more accurate “fan art”).
Are you on Ehmry bay?
How is WvW “wowified”? What part of it comes from WOW? The guild part of Guild wars is from lore, and has nothing to do with actual guilds.
The Quip is… lackluster. The shield, meh. The predator, worth it I guess. The smaller the weapon the worse they look, but you hardly see them so it doesn’t matter.
You are more than welcome to play however you want. That doesn’t mean your play style is going to be as effective as every other style.
You could say that about any game. My point is I know alot of people (me included) who have stopped playing the game completely simply because there’s nothing to do.
There should be enough content in a game to have you happily logging in every so often to play for a while up until they decide to release some addition content.
You plus alot of people that you know means the game is dying? Very nice.
There are AT LEAST 6 others that i know about personally.
7 People think the game is dieing, time to jump ship.
Nothing wrong with 5 engineers, but don’t expect a smooth run if you’re all specced precision and power.
It’s also worth mentioning that the lower the zone level is compared to your character level, the higher drop rates for dyes are. Want to color your character or make some bank selling dyes? Wander around a starting area for a while as a level 80.
Is that because you’re a higher level, or is it because those mobs have a higher chance of dropping dye’s? Or maybe it’s your ability to kill more mobs quicker.
Sure, teammates should help out, but if I spec and gear for toughness and vitality, but the mobs ignore me most of the time, it seems a wasted effort. Not asking for a tank role or taunts, just asking for mobs to spread the love (or some better understanding of aggro mechanics).
Well the thing is.. You have to ask yourself why the so called holy trinity or what I would more overall call specialized roles was invented in the first place.
Could it be that it was a way to make group interaction more meaningful and make it feel like everyone is essential to the group, as they all play a vital role (and a role for whatever playstyle you like)? It could perhaps. Now that they’ve tried removing it and make everyone more or less jacks of all trades for some reason, it does indeed often seem very chaotic and meaningless what you do in a group.
The very vague specialization that you can do in GW2 only really starts working well in extremely well organized groups, which is a very small minority. So for most casual players it’s just a mess with no one knowing what they’re supposed to do other than spam whatever attacks they have, because roles have effectively been removed.
Or, the trinity is a really easy way to design encounters, and removing it requires making a much more robust combat system.
But who knows.
WHY are you emphasizing every OTHER word LIKE this? It’s REALLY annoying to READ.
It would help if mobs didn’t tend to focus one person the entire fight. There’s only so many escape abilities/dodges before you either kite or face tank the mob.
He probably meant .05%.
GW2 is going to go free to play any day now, just wait and see.
And then we’ll get a micro market full of cosmetics and small boosters.
“The odds of finding a useful random drop is almost nill. I’m lucky to find a drop that’s even my lvl, much less has the stats I want. I find more heavy armor and swords on my Necro a nd I find more light armor on my Guardian. I think it’s almost a sick joke Anet is playing. Instead of writing code to steer class relevant drops in your favor they actually stack the odds against you. NOT cool”
Why are you trying for class relevant drops? The main purpose of drops is for salvage or vendoring. Get gear from heart vendors if you’re having trouble with gear.
GW2 is not meant to have you addicted into unhealtily playing 25 hours a day chasing a number on your character and stats on your armor.
If you wish to do that destrimental, self-damaging lifestyle of game addiction, GW2 is surely the last game on your list.
I’d like to seee someone play for 25 hours in 1 day.
Oh, I never saw anything about an ingame shirt, I’ve only seen the hat.
The difficulty scaling works well when you’re <80 in <80 gear, not so much when you’re 80 fully decked out in at least full greens. That’s a bit of a different issue though. My problem is still the half kitten reward vs. cost for level 80’s in lower zones.
Would be cool if they were random skins. Make it an option for those who don’t want it.
There’s always getting a third party to make the shirt for you. I had to do that for the stickers I wanted.
If I’m going to keep the level 80 costs in the starter zones then I should get closer to level 80 rewards for being there.
Perhaps make the keys drop more often, maybe around they same rate as dyes.
I disagree with 4 and 8, but the others are spot on.
Passive speed buffs should be uniform across classes. There’s more than enough abilities for each class to be “unique”.
ArenaNet did not break away from the "kill 10 rats" quest structure.

You’re right, but they did a good job disguising it and giving options to get around it.
1-30 zones still have plenty of people from what I’ve seen, it’s the 40-70 zones that are low pop.
“In other mmo’s that I’ve played it required parties, to take down bosses, or gain xp with each other, and in that process, you’d end up making friends, and having awesome conversations, and just enjoying everyones company.”
When did this ever happen?
Make your GW2 email and password completely unique to GW. Don’t use them for any other site/game. Nobody is out there brute forcing passwords, it’s far easier to social engineer it or hack a fan site.
I don’t see how retail copies means more players in the future. How many people will pick up an MMO and go through the process of registering and subscribing to a game based on a whim? Retail sales are a dieing market with digital distribution.
Don’t expect bugs fixes immediately at this point, only severely game breaking bugs will get immediate attention. Maybe they’re doing more thorough testing of patches or trying to fix SP/DE’s so that they wont break again.
While we’re at it, turn on weapon kit auto attacks by default.
We already have a few raids, ie. The dragon events. There’s no reason they can’t expand on that foundation.
It seems to be a way to gate content and give a sense of progression.
Would be interesting to see how many people are actually being affected, and how many people only think they’re being affected.
The psychology behind stuff like this is interesting.
Perhaps we could use some DR on CC moves.
I have an 80 ranger. I’ve pretty much decided to reroll until 80 looks more fun and character balance starts again.
Part of the reason I kept making alts was to slow down my path to 80. Higher-level content is almost always less polished (cause it was less tested) and I wanted to give them time. Now I have a level 60 and 2 30s.
Orr is hands down some of the worst zones in the game.
But then I started reading a lot of comments like that, and now I’m feeling a bit demotivated altogether. Plus I think I was burning out on running from one “emergency” (aka DE) to the next and also I was starting to experience the mob-packing even around level 60. I’m thinking, “If I’m already annoyed by this, what these people are telling me about Orr is really not going to make me happy.” Because it sounds the same but worse :/
Well hopefully they can re-work it a bit. No sub, so no big worries I guess
It got better once I was decked out in full lvl 80 greens, since I had 60+ gear on before that. The slows and pulls are still annoying as hell though.
Maybe set them to have an internal reset. If I activate one but don’t finish it/die/leave for some reason it sits there until someone comes along and kills it. A lot of times the enemy bugs out or glitches into the wall making it impossible to finish it. If the enemy is inactive for 5 minutes despawn it and reset the challenge.
