It is a lot of time i play d/d ele with quite all his subbuild . for tpvp and spvp it seems to me that EA is not usefull. It helps to survive more but when you are targetted with low health you die in any case ( i play with celestial) and for taking EA I have to giveup with my dps .
What are your feeling now with arcana points ? Now i am trying a d/d build with only 10 points in arcana and i was thinking to try to go without any arcana point. your experience ?
I don’t like to play staff, i usually play d/d or s/d or s/f . which is now the best weapon set for pvp and which with build ? i tried d/d with celestial 30 in earth 10 in water and 30 in arcana but i was thinking if there is something better ( i use energy/battle and strength )
i suggest 0,0,20,20,30 with rock solid or 0,0,30,10,30 with rock solit, earth stone and cantripts . As amulet i use soldier or celestial , strenght runes , battle and energy as sigill (with D/D )
How do you see elementalist after new patch ? I usually play d/d 0,0,20,20,30 with soldier and yesterday after patch it seems to me working quite well. I don’t see nothing much better for dps builds instead it seems to me that bunkers builds now work quite well perhaps for the reduction of damage caused by ferocity and rune/siglis change. I think that the change on Burning Speed will make me modify my rotation to maintain that skill for run away … but i am not so sure of that
there is not so much viable build … i tried rocksolid and freshair …. but i was looking for something different. but with elementalist it is really hard …
have you ever think to take only 10 points in alchemy and to take power wrench for block time reduction ?

i usually don’t take points in water from 10th december patch. The idea to use ER for healing is for 1 condi clean when healing. Usually i get arcana shield for defending myself or for healing if under heavy attack. I choosed signet of fire for the burning effect and i agree with you that accuracy simbol is wasted in this case . For cleasing fire i take it only sometimes ., usually i look at other team composition . Another idea could be to use rampager instad of rabid .. less toughness but much more heal but you gain 3k vital and you lose more than 600 toughness and it seems to me a lot. I usually play a soldier 0,10,20,10,30 build and i find it really good but i was thinking to try something different. The idea of going through earth is becouse i saw that i have problem to play without rock solid trait : for stomping stability is really important … i can play without EA but not without Rock Solid trait

I play eng, guardian or thief . I don’t find Decap Engi so OP and i don’t play it more. Ok , you can “stay” on a point for a long but it depends on opponent team coordination. If other teams play well you can not kill nobody with decap build and you die quite often. For me power condi engi or berserker engi with hgh are much more stronger , i win much more with these builds than with decap
I played a lot with power condi 2 or 3 kit builds (P/S) and i found them really very good. For trying something different i moved on berserker amulet , HGH ,bomb and rifle and i have to confirm that elixirs builds are really viable. it seems to me that eng is one of the prof more easy to play with elixir becouse you have good damage but you don’t lose too much survability ( I played elementalist fresh air build (with s/D ) for a lot also, it is really powerfull but you have no defense at all . I find that bers engi can survive better than bers guardian for exampe.
I don’t agree with you , 10 points in inventions for me are a must becouse i need the reduction of cd on rifle. I have no shield or toolkit so i use rifle 2 and 4 as defend skill in many case. The other 10 points i can put it in explosive ok … but i liked to try 10% more damage from rifle . Usually i use bombs for defend myself from thief or others , using bomb 5 and 4 but i agree with you i will take explosion 3 trait and i will left firearms IX

i tried hgh with engi (0,20,20,30,0) with hgh elixir B , elixir S,Bomb and rifle … and it is not true that you are destroyed by thieves … you have only to time aoe (bomb and rifle 5 and stability …and it works great ). I used teldo like build for a lot but i found them quite hard to manage and with a low direct damage. I enjoyed DPS/berserker rifle builds much more and with elixirs in my opinion eng is one of the most easy class to play with berserker …. elixirs give you great survivability . Another thing that i like is that combos are much more simple to make in a fight ( for example bomb 4 and rifle 5 … with shield you have to time it much better becouse you have to press shield twice)

I am playing with this build (i don’t think i am the first using it) and i’d like to think what you think.
It is a rifle based build with a good survivability. I played power condi for a lot but it has really low direct damage, then i tried decap engi , bunker but all had low dps. SD build is good but squishy for pvp. I tried hgh build but for having might from elixirs i had to consume them instead i prefer to use it for survive. The idea is to take reduction of elixir and remove condition from elixir for use elixir B and elixir S . I have stealth and stability and it is much more simple to play than classic 2/3 kit builds becose you have to use less keys. For surv you use elixir S: Big problems are thief for which usually i put on bomb and spam bombs and dodge and move around . It is Berz with dolyak for a little more tanky.

with elixir gun to make combos you have to switch to it and use skill 4 in field. With R.B. it is much faster , you start the field and use R.B. . In pvp many times i find more simple to survive with R.B.
I have ever hated wvw and i played quite always in mists. Now that i tried edge of the mists i enjoyed it really much. In my opinion the best difference is that the map is not so big and you have not to spend much time “running” but you are quite soon in fight
I read here on forum people always complain on balance of single professions. Yesterday i tried edge of the mists , it is a long time i have not been playing wvw but only pvp. I noticed that in wvw unbalance of class is much much heavy than in pvp mists . Do you realize the same ? i write here and not on wvw forum becouse i did not see many interest in balancing on wvw forum. I play engi usually ( or thief) and it seems to me that D/P thief in pvp or warrior are strong but you can fight them … in wvw some warrior/thief seems really op .. much more than in pvp

I am not a pro but i play pvp quite often and i found it really good .. now better than nerfed aurashare build . I usually play eng but i go back to elementalist for changing and it seems to me much better than before (last monthes)

I tryed with someghing like 0,0,30,30,10 with pistol shield , settler amulet , battle sigil and traited for shield with bombs , EG end toolbox but damage seemed me really low … much much lower than a bunker guardian .

try to fight a warriorr, a thief , or a guardian with elementalist or engeneer . You can win with elementalist but it is really really harder than with engi and i am not a pro. And usually even if i die i make them much more damage and on a point i last much more.
Even in support, engeneer gives to group less support that elementalist but it is not su unsuefull (elixir gun 3 for example can make the difference in some cases)
kits are influenced by traits but u can use granades of bombs without going in explosive. You loose some damage but u gane something else. For example if you go for firearms you gain condition damage and bomb and nades give it a lot. Engeneer toolikt are far less better than elementalist attunement and i play elemementalist since alomst 18 monthes . Playing eng i understood what really miss elementalist which are defence capabilities. When i am in fire or in air i can’t do too much for defend myself, where when i am using bomb i can cripple and create confusion.. and so for all engi weapons. It is much better to defend myself with engi so it is much easy to survive. This for me make the difference .

In any case , if i should delete a character and should choose between engeneer and elementalist, now i sadly delete elementalist for my list becouse i find for the most of the situations engeneer much better. I think engeneer is what elementalist should have been : quite good for any situation. I don’t feel the same on elementalist . I played elementalist since start and eng only from few monthes. I am not happy of this feeling.

Engeneer is what elementalist should be … the difference is that (for pvp) engeneer kits are much stronger than elementalist attunement. Every kit, like weapons of engeneer has 1 or 2 defence skill so you can last and defend yourself quite well ( blind, cripple , block and so on ) . The same is not on elementalist . Many time with elementalist if i can not dodge i feel myself nake to damage .
My main was an elementalist. I rolled an engeneer. For pve i prefer elementalist but in pvp there is no way. Engeneer is hard as elementalist as skills , even in pvp for healing you have to use a combo but Engeneer is much more viable. You can play dps, condi or bunker as you prefer and eng can fit many roles quite well. On the other side i feel that engeneer is really good for pvp only , for pve (for me) it is not funny. It is viable but not funny in pve ( too long on grenades for ranging boss)

Many posts here complain on class that are OP. I began playing eng 5 monthes ago and i feel engineer is really strong. Every build i tried ( burst, bunker, power condi ) i felt i could play and try to win . So i am happy with that
( I hope now they will not nerf it soon )
In my opinion in pvp Eng is not the harder class to play. Elementalist or thief for me are more difficult . Elementalist is difficult as eng but eng has a much better design (ele was my main ). Thief now is quite hard and sometimes i feel it unusefull. Ok , u can kill someone with burst in 1vs 1 but if u look it in a team it is much more easy to be usefull with eng. With thief cap a point or maintain it is much more difficult and pvp in gw2 is not a death match
The problem stay alone is that if even i kill 1 (and 2 or 3 come against me) and it happens often … i die before i can skimish in and when my team come back they have in any case 2 to fights so they are outnumbered quite often in any case .
Hi all. I play solo queue or sometime t queue quite often alone.
I know that i should defend point , i play a build which let me defend quite well even if i am not fully bunker eng .
The problem is that i see that many times with not well organized team, if i remain alone to defend a poit i am useless becouse 2 or 3 comes against me and nobody come back so i loose life and point . Instead if i roam from point to point zerging in 2 or 3 (usually between home and mid ) we win .
How should a team dispose ? 1 bunker alone in home and mid and other 3 that roam where needed ? Or is it better to conquer and move and reconquer really often ? With eng decap is not so hard .
In my opinion the problem is not when with a build or a profession you have difficulties to win against another … but when you have difficulties to win against many of them . I play eng, i can fight against warrior or guardian for example but i have much more problem with mesmer and with some backstub thief. … but i think this is quite natural in a PVP game
