Just remember in order to get the Lingering Curse trait you have to give up Terror, and without Terror the condition Necromancer is outclassed by the likes of condition Engineer (and condition Ranger, honestly).
Also, Pelopidas is right, burn damage has been nerfed because now it stacks intensity. It probably won’t be as awesome as it sounds now.
I am sorry but we are in terms of condi burst already outclassed (yes yes , we have signet of spite but that isn t as strong as people think), we are masters in condi manipulation. The new lingering curse 100% condi duration and 150 condi damage ,means we don t have to use giver weapons or koi cakes, we can buff our condi damage even higher. Making us deal loads of condi damage and as we have the condi transfers, this will make us incredibly strong. Lingering Curse will be stronger in long term than Terror as Terror can be countered(stab,zerker stance, dodge), a 100% condi duration won t be counterable that easy , I guess it soulf give us a disadvantage against terrormancers but whatever. I am srsly stoked aboit the new lingering curse, it’s gonna be so much fun!
Yes I am as sure as the duration of the new trait that Lingering Curse will work with Dumbfire (If you go into DS with a scepter equiped).
I am so hyped about the new lingering curse. A DS condi/Hybrid necro build could work so good with that

Well torment sigil is quite good as it adds another condi they have to cleanse and you can use a carrion/rabbid combo (what i find optimal imo, rip diamond skin) to deal quite alot of condi and direct damage while maintaining the defensive stats from the condi setup.
I find it odd applying fear and torment on a turret.
I think we will get shouts every GS wielder has shouts except mesmer.

My guild is known for running “weird” builds in WvW, I often/always make these builds. A guildy asked me to make him a supportive boon mesmer build. As I haven t mastered mesmer I need your people help.
TLDR: Need help with boon share support mesmer.
I was thinking about this:
Chaos: Illusionary Defense, Chaotic Dampening and Bountiful Disillusionment.
Inspiration:Vigorous Revelation,Compounding Celerity and Illusionary Inspiration
Illusions: The Pledge, Phantasmal Haste, Master of Fragmentation
Weapons: Staff, Scepter/Torch
Skills: Signet of Ether,Null Field,Signet of Inspiration,Signet of Midnight and Mass Invisibility.
Gear: Giver armor (6%BD),Snowflake Trinkets (5%BD),Water Runes (20%BD),Plat doubloons on trinkets(removing the normal snowflakes) and 2 on weapons(28%BD).
Food: Bowl of Nopalitos Saute (20%BD + 70 toughness)
The build would have in total 99% condi duration, but thanks to the minor “Chaotic Persistence” it’ll have 100%(actually a bit more) BD as you’ll always have a boon on you.
So my questions:
-Should I switch certain traits?
-Does the build have enough illusions to shatter efficiently?
-What does Master of Fragmentation do? I took it, because it improves the shatter (otherwise I would have taken Meme of the Disillusioned)
-Should I switch to sword instead of scepter?
-Does Chaotic Persistence work on yourself too, I don t rly get the “outgoing” part.

Extra initiative in stealth (SR buff) with the cloak and dagger trick or useing black powder.
Could work well in WvW with trapper runes? Quickness makes you revive faster and stealth makes it less obvious.
Now even necro hits even harder than thieves and its AOE and has much better survival.. now its kinda pointless to roll thieves when we sacrifice so much defensive and yet we does less damage than other professions..
Omg you really don t understand Necro, we got hit hardest, besides you are running SA and SR got buffed. You can do that dagger 5 trick anyway and win every fight. Pls don t cry.
Get rid of Soul Marks, add cooldown reduction to Greater Marks. Make 3% life force on mark trigger default staff behaviour.

That could be handy, I was thinking about standard mark increase and Soul Marks will get the unblockable part.
- Make terror Master instead of Grandmaster.
-Fuse Greater Marks with Soul marks. (As you won t have to go into Death Magic for 1 trait,besides it’s not a defensive trait and has nothing to do with minions)

Cleric necro was a thing a year ago. They used mark of blood and wells to heal the zerg .
I love the synergy between rotations and DS.
I don’t know why it works but it does.
I know theoretically it doesn’t seem good, but the combination of defensive stats from celestial gives you just enough survivability to do more actions and make an impact, rather than insta-exploding due to squishiness.
For example, Life Siphon, a generally useless skill, actually sustains you in skirmishes very well with celestial. Regeneration from staff usually is unnoticed, but with celestial it actually sustains decently. I believe the combination of low cooldown heals from life siphon and staff regeneration and celestial’s toughness/vitality mixture gives just enough “oomph” to survive and make an impact in fights.
Combined with pack runes, celestial builds have similar crits as berserker builds. Mathematically berserker might have slightly larger numbers but in practice it all feels the same. My performance and contribution to team fights feels pretty much the same between celestial and berserker, but with celestial I feel like I can do more actions under focus-fire.
In other words, I don’t believe celestial squashes berserker, but it is a viable sustain-style alternative.
I am sorry,but the numbers are just horrible, the healing power almost makes no difference. You have lower condi damage than a condi necro , and lower power than a zerker necro. Also necro doesn t have much hybrid weapons except staff (and axe?( I know someone who runs that on a condi build)).
Would you mind giving your build, I would like to test a few things out?
I run a staff build 0/4/4/0/6 , tanky ,good survivability,strong damage (if useing carrion) ,vulnerable to cc,no mobility (except Dark Path) and good life force regen.

I have had this bug that the wholle enemy team was kicked out of the match (with a few of ours ) so it was a 0v3

This, I don’t know where the idea of carrion necro started. You only use it if you don’t have enough HP but classes that do still spec in toughness line necro doesn’t have low HP without DS.
I run Carrion Necro, and it works rly well with a staff build. Also the extra vitality increases your Deathshroud. Carrion also works better with DS imo.

I as condi user/player am actually glad that they made it like this, less people who are crying about condi and it makes fighting still interesting and hopefully people might consider useing sinister or carrion now.

Are we getting multiple maps with this expansion or just one big map?

Rune of the Nightmare: The duration of fear applied from the sixth piece of this rune has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second. Its recharge has been reduced from 90 seconds to 60 seconds.

Depends on your playstyle. If you like being a bit glassy but doing quick huge amounts of damage go power. If you like to be more tanky and pressure alot of people on point go condi. Try to use a power d/d + staff build or a condi staff + scepter/dagger build. Focus and Axe aren t rly good atm.
You can find the builds at metabattle.com and if you want to be more tanky with power necro you can go knight amulet (I guess).
I suggest playing condi,because of the on point condi pressure. It’s good aswell for cleaving downed bodies with your AOE skills.
If this is real, I guess it’s time to rerol…
Hello I wanted to do a post like this one a long time ago but I never rly thought about it. These are idea’s I see a lot on forums or I miss in this game. This is my ‘’dream’’ feature pack update. Also feel free to discuss my ideas. And sry for my English, It’s not my main language
Housing:
Many people suggested this already but I want to put my own idea around player housing here. It looks a lot of a game published by NCsoft as well.
-Home district are renamed and only for Personal Story purposes.
- Every player has a plot now where he/she can choose from different house skins.
-You are now able to place the items you have unlocked in your home instance, in your new home plot.
-You are able to decorate your home from the inside and outside.
-New decorations for inside and outside the house can be found all around Tyria (as random drops, dungeon rewards, JP rewards, PvP rewards, WvW rewards, achievement rewards, personal story rewards and living story rewards) and in the Gemshop. (As example a Champion Phantom can put an dark’ish altar in his home, or someone with Ultimate Dominator can have a crown in his home).
-You are now able to place personal story characters in your home plot.
-A new icon next to guild is made that makes you warp to your home plot or the key L.
-You are able to invite players into your home plot.
Gemstore:
-You are now able to buy parts of a gemstore armor set for 300 gems each.
Wardrobe:
-Items bought with gems are always free to apply.
WvW/Guesting:
Guesting is a useless feature now, but these ideas might help to make a use of it. Also people on smaller servers can check how WvW is on the bigger servers without making a purchase. I also made a small image how the map of Battlefields should look like. (and sry for the awful image, I am not an artist lol, but I think it will make the point)
-Added new map; Battlefields. A plain field with in the middle a lake, and in the middle of the lake a tower. A realm can claim that tower but it won’t add any bonuses. This map is ideal for Guild versus Guild battles (GvG) (and roamers/duellers).
-You are now able to guest to another server and play WvW on that server.
-You can’t guest to servers your main server is playing against.
-You are able to guest now from Eu to NA servers and vice versa.
- You’ll get kicked from the WvW map if the map starts to have a queue while guesting. So people who play on that server will have priority over the guester.
-You also can’t go into Edge of the mists or Battlefields while guesting.
-You can guest once a day.
PvP:
I do a lot of PvP, but I see so much people with so much sustain and damage output. All having something familiar; celestial amulet. Also you might have already heard already of people who think celestial is too strong. It’s even a topic on the ESL forums. But feel free to discuss my ‘’nerfs’’ to celestial and might stacking runes. Also I as soloQ’r am fighting too much against teams/premades and I see other people having the same problem as well. This is why I think they should split Ranked into team and solo.
-Ranked is now split between Solo Ranked and Team Ranked. So there won’t be any chance a solo ranked player can have a matchup against a team (Premade).
-changed all stats of celestial amulet from 438 to 390.
-reduced the might duration bonus from Strength runes 45% to 25%.
-reduced the might duration bonus from Hoelbrak runes 30% to 10%.
Fixes/small features:
-Experience scrolls (insta lvl 20 scrolls) from first and second birthday are now stackable.
-You can combine 4 lvl 20 scrolls to get 1 lvl 40 scroll in the mystic forge.
-Fixed a pathing bug that makes blink skills not work.
-Fixed a bug on the TP, so the first number you type is the amount you want to have and not the amount of gold you want to spend to buy something with.
-Improved AI for all pet/summons.
-right click items/bags to open/use them all. Doesn t work with nourishments.

It’s quite sad to kill people who are 1v1’ing in OS. Just leave them .
You can however kill people in the JP,but just don t do it in the Arena. It’s annoying if people are trying to kill you.
I think necromancer is still great. It just requires good positioning.
Then again, I don’t use the cookie-cutter build that a lot of people seem to use. I use Rabid Amulet, Spectral Armor instead of Flesh Wurm, and Soul Marks instead of Reaper’s Protection. It all makes me a lot tankier, so I can deal more easily with mesmers and thieves, which are still the only classes that give me trouble in group fights. (Nothing really gives me trouble in one-on-one fights.)
The big problem I see, even from so-called good necromancers, is way too much charging in. Necromancers really shouldn’t stand on a point if it has other players, even if it means a decap — since getting on the point means getting focused down and losing it anyway.
We should never stand on mid (far and close can because of smaller attacks). But mid is a CC spam and you will just get destroyed Pre and after the patch. And yes I use soul marks aswell, still I find Necro lacking, because everything we can do another class can do better. Except boon removal*

Well I know alot of people from NA who went EU (because they say our Pvp is better). And I would love shorter Q times but the NA and EU servers are on diffrent places and that can give lag to Eu players who play on NA pvp and vice versa.
Nice idea tho but hard to make come true….
I suspect most necros will be voting for Khylo from now on.
Next patch: life force generation on boxes is no longer possible.
