Why do people seem to feel that WvW (or to a lesser extent PvP) is something of some special importance. PVE’ers defend their server from dragons, trolls, pirates and all sorts of other dangers. I don’t remember anyone complaining about playing the game being too hard and needing auto triggers for pointless things like looting.
No invader has ever managed to come out our mists portals, meanwhile those pve’ers seem to let LA get wrecked once a month.
Whormag’s claw is fine. I agree it’s quite tedious the way it is now. On an unrelated note the high orrian wizard should have his twilight sword mixed into a double neck guitar that summons undead minions and calls down the fires of hell on the whole zone while going around ganking players constantly uttering a catchy tone while he’s rocking out to the seven hells of zhaitian metal.
He uses eternity not twilight :P
Been there, done that.

[ME] woulda won. With half the people.
just don’t buff jormag’s hp… tedious enough as is…
You could set up a macro to spam the loot key, although I’m not sure that’s permitted by the ToS. Personally I’d just like to have all drops go straight to my inventory.
That’s against the EULA as it gives you an unfair advantage.
Of course you could literally just tap f yourself, AoE loot has a decent range so as long as you don’t attempt to rez a corpse it’s not that hard to hit f with ur hand on wasd.
No. It’s not a 1 or 2 min fight with pugs, even with everyone in melee – with a thief, a ranger, and an engine it’s very unlikely you’ll have enough dps. I’m not convinced of it in theory. I’ll try it next time Pug it, but I’d like to see even an organized group try this with a thief/ele/ranger/war/necro team. Please, show me. I’m willing to admit I’m a horrible scrub if you do. Might even send you cookies
Just gear check your pugs, make sure they are running power as main stat before entering. You’ll be surprised by the amount of people running crap MF and think they can slip by unnoticed. As long as you can maintain good power damage and reflect up time it should be fine. PVT or zerkers will work. It may not be as quick as with full wars team + guard and mes but I think it would still work.
Remember this boss can’t be critted :P
In addition to that impacting your stat choices, should probably ditch ur on crit effects.
Well… they haven’t since launch… dunno what to tell you lol
it gives +80 on toughness if I remember well
It was patched when the other signet passives were to 180. (2*(10+level))
Signet of Judgment, which lists the same passive description, is a 10% dmg reduction.
Savage leap you can control, the much bigger issue is your auto attack will break bolas too. It’s like dodge rolls triggering confusion.
English man… this forum is in english…
No immobilize durations stack. Each one overwrites the previous like a stun.
Edit: You can check this by using throw bolas/pin down.
(edited by Player Character.9467)
Axe 5 isn’t really worth using, unless you’re hitting 5 targets your dps is lower than just using Axe 1. Since you’re at a low level I would suggest stacking up on offensive signets in your bar and grabbing deep strike (Arms I). The +40 per signet doesn’t scale so at lower levels it’s much more crit % than at 80 and with the greatsword might on crits you just roll over everything.
W/ only 750 + healing, your signet heals for 230… a whole lot more than Virture of Resolve does.
Are you really comparing a 6 skill to a guardian virtue that can be aoe’ed? It’s a lot more than soothing mists too. Resolve also scales significantly steeper.
Yeah it pays to go grab that chest as soon as possible once it’s up because some ppl have very little patience. Whenever I start a dungeon I always make sure to hang back for at least 30 seconds to make sure everyone gets their loot. Unfortunately in a speed run farming group time is money which is why I tend to avoid those kinds of groups and run a more chilled pace
In speed runs you’re usually repeating so the party leader doesn’t just exit the party. If he exits the dungeon you can still loot.
the rest of your team wasn’t already capping vuln stacks
I’ve never understood that viewpoint.
I hear that with all sorts of other boons and conditions. I mean, there’s like nine to twelve of them. Isn’t functional overlap kind of a foregone conclusion?Just because the functional redundancy is rooted in core weapon concepts and not utilities like banners doesn’t mean you can’t still adapt to make sure your group is getting the best bang for their buck. Heck, I’m constantly switching around my offhand just to approach different fights better. So I kind of don’t get how two people with overlapping weapon concepts creates a point of contention?
Because it takes no effort for a regular group to cap vuln stacks already so there’s no point in bringing some1 who brings less dps but the ability to stack a crazy amount of vuln. It still takes time to apply so for super speed clears you’re still going to want to OMM.
I hate the quaggen, I hate them so much >_<. I think I’m the only person in this game that truly despises them. I’d much rather be a Dredge or even hopefully (though painfully unlikely) a Mursaat.
You want to play as dead bad guys and apply agony on everything you hit?…
They already announced that they’re reworking every single dungeon, so ya, I think they’re reworking every single dungeon.
Please provide me with 1 reason why end game content should be easy for people who can’t follow directions and take bad builds, bad utilities, and bad party makeups. Then prove to me that this fight is at all hard, because it’s not.
It’s not hard. Many people have solo’d it (myself included). The problem is, the rest of the content in this game is designed for exactly that: bad builds, bad utilities, and bad party makeups. Can’t remember any particular path I’ve had difficulty with on the fresh 80s with any given pick up.
So what I’m hearing is, the other content is the issue, not this part.
Still bugged, needs fix. ty
Omg npcs with aggro? So bugged.
Where would the rest of the power of the bolts go if there is only a single target to hit?!
Well your target has feet so he’s grounded…
That would do nothing about the fact that he left the party. Same thing would happen in fractals.
Try the necro dagger attack rates yourself. It’s pretty fast.
Don’t know if it overcomes the pet, but I’m just saying necro is in no way near engineer levels of bad.
The engineer is just bad because his melee option, the toolkit, is really bad for auto.
Engi’s would be more useful if (a) the rest of your team wasn’t already capping vuln stacks (grenades), and (b) their more special effects meant anything in pve.
Don’t know what to tell you…
The Warriors I run w/ Shout Heal me for 2k, consistantly… They are more or less, Immune to Conditions and will never be CC’d unless it is Chained on them. They have some of the best Mobility in game and some of the best AoE Knockdowns in game… all on top of a decent passive regen via Signet.
Couple that w/ 4 Dwayna Runes + 2 Water, they can have a decent Regen as well.
Maybe it’s your build….
They’re only immune to conditions thru melandru runes/lemongrass/dogged march, and they’re only dropping 25% CC and have 1 stun breaker that they’re also using as a heal. Warriors only have 1 aoe knockdown, it’s also a straight projectile line not an aoe and requires an offhand mace.
For those of us who are still stuck on not seeing as big numbers appearing on the ranger’s screen in Brazil’s video, don’t forget that Spotter and Frost Spirit are, on average, boosting everyone else’s damage by about 12%.
could you enlighten me on how that 12% came from? (serious question)
Well frost spirit is 7%, so he’s putting 5% on spotter. Spotter is a 150 precision boost or 150/21 crit chance boost. If it’s increasing it by 5% then that would mean…
(1+(Crit Chance+150/2100)(Critdmg+0.5)/(1+Crit Chance(Critdmg+0.5)) = 1.05
(a 5% increase in your multiplier generated as a result of critting)
Lots of maths (read: computer solving things for me) later, assuming an original crit chance of 80%, this would be at ~109.1% critdmg.
@60% crit chance, 70.7% crit dmg
@65% crit chance, 78.4% crit dmg
@70% crit chance, 87.25% crit dmg
@75% crit chance, 97.34% crit dmg
Ya, I’m bored. So what?

Yak’s is dolyaks, they just there to run supplies to you :P
I always felt air elementalist should shoot lightning from their eyes, and fire elementalists should be able to shoot fire balls out their backsides…but that’s just me.
So earth elementalists would kitten bricks?
take it down. i careless if they do. they have that power. we players don’t
and i careless what they do or how they do to save money. but one thing though, you treat people right, you get what you wanted.
This guy…. this guy right here. He so careless. Don’t leave him to watch over yo’ childrens.
Give us useful racial skills and maybe a racial trait line… oh and another 20 levels to earn the points to put in that line. That should do fine.
That’s sarcasm right?
You’re still only using it once every 25 seconds, your adrenaline generation is not the limiting factor and if you miss then you got nothing.
You have 1 stun with a 25 second cd but you took unsuspecting foe… and it’s a 1 second stun so you better be quick on starting that eviscerate animation.
(edited by Player Character.9467)
side note: A zerg’s worst nightmare is a team of highly coordinated hammer warriors. 8 hammer warriors on a team speak is > than a 50 man pug zerg. remove all keys on keyboard, keep f1 gg. leap frog tactic op
So 40 stuns at the most for 2 seconds each if nobody stuns something that’s already stunned or has stability… that’s not exactly insta win. It sounds like you’re forgetting the aoe cap. Two seconds into the fight you now have 8 0 adrenaline warriors vs 50 people, 40 of them a little beat up. You also magic’ed yourself into earthshaker range.

Not to mention how easy would it be for level 80’s to go solo low level group evens for masses of free silver, karma and experience.
80’s can already solo group events, hell people AT LEVEL can solo “group” events. The much bigger issue would be every level 80 in the game 1 shotting every enemy in AC for faster solo clears than an optimal CoF P1 party.
I think they intended for us to upvote for that? Or maybe report? Dunno…
Gifts of Battle are effortless for anybody. WvW gives over 100 badges an hour…
wow… I must play the game horribly wrong! I WvW around 2hrs per week. I’m LUCKY to get 10 badges per week. How do I play in order to earn 100 badges per hour?
Also if it only takes an hour to average 100 badges, that means someone only needs to play WvW for 5 hours to get enought badges for the gift of battle. So what’s all the fuss about awarding badges for around 5 hours of content? Let it go everyone…. people that get badges from achivements are only skipping 5 hours of WvW content anyway right?
Simplest method, run with the zerg and tag tag tag.
Can’t agree between gsword and axe traits? :P
(edited by Player Character.9467)
Sadly I have to agree with the exploit supporters….
Anet has been known to hard nerf any exploit that can earn you 5 copper over the intended price. (karma exploits)Yet they are turning a blind eye to this,
I ran cof p2 with a couple anet employees, tag on too, who did the skipping method.
One was a female, other was a male. Not giving names.
The female started to skip over the gates, and the only thing that was said was
“rofl you’re not setting a nice example ;P " by the male employee.
… the karma exploit was missing 0’s… that’s not 5 copper
‘account-bound everything based around “A.P”’
I wasn’t aware a single set of weapons, gloves, helmet, and shoulder skins was considered everything this game has to offer.
And.. what class does not have 1200 range ? Guardian scepter, warrior rifle, ranger longbow, staff ele, necro, greatsword mesmer they’re all 1200 range.
Oh, thieves aren’t 1200. I guess it might be a pain if you have a group filled with thieves.
Bows get range from the elevation. I know because my LBow can out range my rifle without the (broken) lbow range trait.
Also, tool kit doesn’t hit as hard as grenades, but of course you wouldn’t know that, since you don’t play engineer.
How does it make you feel that I could faceroll dungeons on your main, but you couldn’t kill skelks on mine?
Lol.
There are 8 character names in my sig for a reason.
and 9 in game! clearly not very good at record keeping!
:P
Trolled by an anet employee intentionally? wtf…
“I don’t melee I’m ranged”
Saying this should be the grounds for an instant vote kick.
So should comments like yours. I main an engie, with a pistol and rifle… what “melee” weapon should I be using oh Great Arbiter or Combat?
Tool Kit. Or there’s a tier 1 utility skill that you unlock at level 2, called Switch Class.
Oh yes, the ultimate solution, elitism.
Also, tool kit doesn’t hit as hard as grenades, but of course you wouldn’t know that, since you don’t play engineer.
How does it make you feel that I could faceroll dungeons on your main, but you couldn’t kill skelks on mine?
Lol.
So use your grenades? You asked him to name a melee weapon.
Please tell me which keep, because I recently fought a warrior in Mag’s Bay who jumped off a cliff and died when he started losing the fight. Or was it YB? Man I should keep FRAPS going 100% of the time.
Well after beating that warrior I went mostly AFK. Well it’s been a half an hour later, and I’m surrounded by red-labeled NPCs. Good thing I’m not a mesmer…
You keep what you kill? You forgot to run around killing archers for stacks
I’ve been inside this keep for like 40 minutes… yeesh
Please tell me which keep, because I recently fought a warrior in Mag’s Bay who jumped off a cliff and died when he started losing the fight. Or was it YB? Man I should keep FRAPS going 100% of the time.
Something made me lose target so rush became semi-suicidal :\
I would have a 1 sec immobilize to get the full zealot’s defense off, because if the opponent gets to the 600 range the projectiles from Zealots Defense doesn’t always hit a target at max range so you lose damage. Also I never said guardians sword needed more damage, if you look at the “Powerful Blades” trait there is already a 5% increase in sword and spear skills, so i have no idea where you’re getting that from.
“His role is to deal decent damage while controlling the opposition and buffing the rest of the group so the rest of the group gets through the fight.” Not all the guardians weapon skills is for crowd control or gives boons, Look at the scepter no crowd control nor does it give boons. Same with sword no CC or gives any boons.
If you want to CC then grab a CC weapon…
I’ve been inside this keep for like 40 minutes… yeesh
We wiped them about 5 times open field, 3-4 times at the initial outer breach, and at least 7 or 8 times on inner. So they decided to build about 10 trebs to take down literally every wall and gate before pushing and wiping again a few times. Finally, a few DORP came from another map and we pushed them off.
We still have the keep. Yoloswag.
If only there were more punishing effects from wiping 20 times than flooding your opponent’s inventory with those kitten badges of bankspace.
I’m going to assume you run mf gear…
DPS beats bosses and they’re all but immune to CC. The only time you want heavy CC support is against trash but then 95% of the time ANet throws too many enemies at you for you to make a considerable dent because of AoE caps.
That’s so cute, you actually don’t know how defiant works.
Also, Mai may be back depending on how the election goes. And that is OK, because your OP classes are still OP in that dungeon as well.
I know exactly how defiant works, but pumping out 20+ CC skills to get a 3 second stun&interrupt isn’t exactly effective. You now have to wait at least 30 seconds to get all those skills back and they’re taking up the weapon choices and utility bars of 4 or 5 people. Defiant is what has trimmed the DPS-Support-CC trinity GW2 was intended to run down to DPS-Support. It’s already recognized as the laziest boss mechanic.
