CoF Farming

I will say that if they haven’t hotfixed it by now, they’re not going to start actioning accounts because of it. They may eventually fix the farm, but every day they don’t makes it less attractive for them to do so.

Also, I find it hilarious that yet another farm that breaks up “intended” play ended up in CoF. That dungeon is becoming legendary for its easy and borderline exploit farms. If I was the flame legion I’d be super embarrassed.

Will there be more Elite-Specs in HoT?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PopeUrban.2578

PopeUrban.2578

Yeah, they basically said that all the new systems (masteries, elite specs, raid wings, guild decorations/features, new fractals) are intended to be paced out in live updates just like LS episodes and new maps, and the ability to do that was a big part of why they built all these new systems, so that it was easier to add progression and content at a more rapid pace within that framework.

Expect this stuff to operate on the model that HoT has established, basically, as HoT is their “foundation” release for how they want to expand the game from here on out. Less meta rewards, more collections, more map currencies, more masteries, more hero challenges, more elite specs, more episodes with challenge achievements, etc.

Elite specs, specifically, were built the way they are so that they’re easier to develop and balance, since each one doesn’t have to account for all previous elite specs in terms of making sure they’re all balanced since they can’t stack. That was the big problem they had in the GW1 model. Each skill added made it progressively harder to balance new skills because the number of interactions increased. Elite specs have a flat number of interactions, since they only ever interact with the core specs.

The apples have to go, it’s that simple. It serves no purpose at all. The idea might have been good but leaving it up to the people to decide whether they are fit for mentoring is a bad decision.

It’s no worse than leaving it up to the people if they are fit to wear a commander tag. It is literally the same problem, only one is an XP tag, and one is bought with gold.

Anthology of Villains / Quality Paper

Except that none of the other precursors have that requirement. And no other part of the Legendary crafting journey requires being part of a guild. And as far as I know none of them need you to play PvP? And also at no point have Arena Net talked about Legendary crafting requiring you to be involved in every part of the game? I suppose I might be mistaken, but this one item seems very out of place as compared to all the others. I’m not asking for legendary crafting to be easy, I’m asking for it to be consistent, and not to restrict a crafting challenge based on the kind of communities a player decides to play in. That does not seem onerous to me.

Actually, all of the new ones require you to either play PvP, or buy new pvp only materials from people that play pvp. The paper is pretty much the same thing. Either be in a guild with a scribing station, or buy from someone that has one. Right now there just aren’t a lot of scribes, so the market hasn’t picked up for the item. Give it time.

Legendaries have always had strange and uneven requirements. Some require very specific dungeon tokens for instance. Some require doubloons that are actually easier to collect on a low level character than the max level one you’re presumably building the legendary for.

In all, anet has always been of the opinion that legendary requirements are goals set my anet, and they’re diverse, weird, and different from each other. Anet intends them to be pretty time consuming to acquire, and to have you run all over the game.

It’s crafting xp. You know, the orange numbers that you get when you craft that level up that crafting skill.

It makes leveling new crafts quite a bit faster, which makes going for stuff like master crafter, scribe, or hitting 500 to do ascended gear faster and thus cheaper.

Sure, it may not be useful for some people that are maxed out right now (and that don’t plan on picking up scribe, which is valid, more than one scribe per guild is a huge waste, and some people aren’t even in guilds so scribe would be largely useless to them) but they’ve said they’re adding ranks to cooking, jeweler, etc. and will porbably continue to add new crafting disciplines.

It’s not there to make leveling mastries faster. It’s there to make leveling crafting faster.

Final fight floating rifts [spoiler]

It’s a bug. Sometimes (usually if you have dies at some point during the fight) rifts will spawn in the destroyed sections of the platform and become unreachable.

There are a lot of bugs in this fight, and most of them show up when doing it with friends. Until it’s fixed, I reccommend soloing the fight and trying really hard not to die. You could also wait until the next round of hotfixes. I’m sure anet isn’t happy about how messy their final boss fight for this season is either.

Guild Hall Decorations - QoL

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Additionally:

  • Decoration mode should automatically set your aoe targeting to ground targeted normal. It uses your existing combat settings, which are generally bad for decoration placement and having to go to the options and alter severeal things to decorate is kind of tedious. In the worst cases, player (like myself) that are set to ground targeting fast may not even realize there are more precise ways to preview and place things.
  • This system needs a targeted, non-aoe erase tool. Sometimes I just want to move one pumpkin, but because it’s in a pile of other pumpkins my only option is to use the small AoE erase, which will always invariable pick up stuff I didn’t want to.
  • There is currently no way to enter decoration mode without having at least one item in your decoration inventory. This is especially messy for new guilds who don’t have the ability to purchase decorations yet, but may want to place or adjust their special eidition hoT stuff, or legacy reward statues. Right now I can use a relatively cheap pumpkin if I have all decorations placed, but after halloween, if a guild claims a hall, places all of their statues/decos, they will be completely unable to alter decorations until they’ve done a significant amount of research to unlock the vendor.
  • What happenned to region based decoration permissions? I remember them being mentioned but see no permission options for them. I have a relatively small guild and it would be nice to maintain decoration control for the “main services” area of the hall, but give certain groups of members individual control over side areas so they can enjoy the system as well.

What did you guys want guild wars 2 to be?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Honestly i was looking for an MMO that praised skill and build planning above grinding better gear stats, and an end to NPC party members.

I liked the narrative of GW1, and I liked the flow of it, but what really made it tick were two very different things. The class and skill system, while flawed, added deep elements of customization. That customization is something I feel is sorely lacking in GW2’s model.

I also appreciated the basics of its skill and encounter designs. Skills in GW2 were often complex, but easy to understand. They were build with this sort of internal combo system. Before release of GW2, when they talked about the field/finisher system, that’s what I thought I was getting. Interactions that were’nt optional, but integral to playing the game as they were in GW1. The encounter designs in GW1, also, came in the form of highly supportive mobs. You often needed to go at new mobs a few times to understand their abilities and targeting order. Also, interrupts and high risk/reward skills were a thing. Many GW1 skills had long cast times, but paid off with devastating effects when you pulled them off. The down side was that those skills were easily interrupted, and that power struggle between nuke cast baiting, interrupting, and the overall slower and more tactical combat that made it what I used to call “the thinking person’s RPG” was lost in translation.

I enjoy the action combat, and it feels really good, but I also feel extremely limited when I roll characters. The entire system is designed around forcing a handful of builds for every class and idiot-proofing your skill bar. Every build is simply defined as <weapon name> <class name> because weapon and class are all that really defines a build, and then you get to make some very small impact tweaks. We could have had the same fluid combat with slightly longer TTKs to make it a bit more tactical, and a less dumbed down skill and attribute system.

I still think it’s dumb that WvW is fought over ephemeral points in stead of, you know, people’s expensive castles. I hate that they took the concept of “open PvP area” and designed the most gamey, least interesting, least consequential version of war. They missed a huge opportunity by attempting to make that style of play faster and more action packed. WvW, in the space of mass battle MMO models is possibly the worst I’ve ever encountered. There’s no permanence, no gain, no loss, and nothing matters. You literally play for points that don’t do anything but update a leaderboard. It’s just a bigger version of an arena match. It sucks. It’s the participation trophy version of war, and it’s an awful design compared to its peers.

I don’t dislike GW2. I like it a lot. I like what they’ve done with the living story in practice (though the content and what it means for the lore is kinda hit and miss) and see improvement with every release. That rapid content cadence with a clear ongoing narrative is the shot in the arm I think the entire PvE sector of MMOs needs. it might not be the best tale ever told, but it’s good enough that I still want to know what happens next and have fun playing it. I really like stronghold, as it brings back some of that tactical play that wasn’t really there in conquest, and fills spvp with a mode that feels less gamey and more tactical. I like that they’re attempting to take much of the speed capping and zerging out of WvW, and adding guild missions to make it feel less pointless. Now I have reasons to go to wvw and fight over things that actually matter, guild commendations and favor, and I can actually be denied those things. I really like where they’ve moved with open world design, treating it like a loosely commanded battlescape that automatically funnels players in to sympathetic fire teams all tackling a single large objective like an army. That’s a thing that’s wholly unique to GW2 and I love the feel of it and how much better it has become from the first time they tried it in Orr. I love the general idea of elite specs as replacements for secondary classes and what they hopefully mean for the future of the game. I love the creativity of masteries as a more coherant and sensible return to the title track endgame of GW1.

I might have wanted something different initially, but GW2 is an interesting animal all its own, and I love where they’re going with this expansion. It’s the shot in the arm the game needs in terms of challenge and longevity of content.

3-4 people isn’t a guild. And if you really wanna do it, just ask friends online to join your guild to claim it or whatever you wanna do.

That’s an interesting opinion considering that the game’s entire story is based around two guilds of five people or less.

This is a silly argument, but I’ll bite for fun.

Those guilds, once formed, are perfectly in line with anet’s definition of a guild. A group’s worth of people (5) or more.

In fact, the entire Destiny’s edge storyline is about how they failed because they were missing one member, and how they couldn’t accomplish anything significant without getting the whole crew back together.

The entire living story was about people who failed miserably until they got together… in a group of five or more.

If you’re going to make the story argument, I suggest you replay the story. If anything it insists that 2 or 3 people can’t accomplish anything important at all unless they’re evil demigods of some sort.

That said, it’s still a silly argument. Narrative and gameplay do not justify one another, nor should they. Unless you want permadeath and walk everywhere with no waypoints.

Forgive me as our guild prefers to keep it mixed, but are you saying the 3 avaliable missions are there, but tell you you can’t attempt them because of a guild level requirement?

This is troubling. it’s not how we were told the system was supposed to work. Can you take a screenshot of this?

if you are actually getting three missions you can’t even attempt, that doesn’t seem right at all.

1 or 2 man guilds can complete guild missions. They just can’t complete all of them. This is a fallacy that people continue to spread.

Many bounties and races can be done solo fairly easily, as can low level treks. You can also retry them instantly if you fail, and keep doing so as much as you like, all week, until you succeed because running them costs nothing now, and there are no unlocks that control which ones you have access to. Set your guild to pve missions, and chances are most weeks there is at least one mission you can solo for favor.

Or, y’know, you can use the half dozen or so adrenal mushrooms around the area to refresh your heal skill, like it was meant to be done.

The adrenal mushrooms at the very end of the itzel lore tree that requires nearly 20 mastery points alone and an amount of xp i literally don’t know of because i havent reached that far despite playing every day?

That same adrenal mushroom talent that the vast majority of people havent acquired?

I did it solo, without the mastry, using nothing but shadow refuge and the heal in stealth trait.

It’s not arbitrary. It’s an interesting challenge that you can get a mastry to trivialize if you can’t figure it out within the confines of your class/build. It’s far better than “channel this thing”

How many players do you actually need to claim a guild hall? Tried it with three players (full berserker), but the damage was not enough.

We did it with 6 not exactly top tier people.. Just took a few tries.

You can pull it off with three people, but you’re going to need boosters, full on DPS builds, and a lot of luck on the wurm spawns.

With 4 you just need the luck on the wurm spawns and to play well.

You don’t.

use the gear icon at the top of the mission panel, tell it you only want to recieve pve missions. At the next reset and from there on you will only ever receive pve missions.

Many of the easy/medium ones are totally soloable, and for the rest keep in mind if you have the mission active and are eligible for credit (e.g. tagged the bounty, rand the race course at least once, etc.) your guild will receive full credit.

What’s more, because these missions cost nothing to attempt, don’t require unlocking anything, and can be repeated as many times as you like, it is actually far easier to get rewarded for doing them than before.

Bladed Coat Box, *Throws Dice*

PopeUrban.2578

Well, I mean, I want a free legendary and to have all my guild hall upgrades complete instantly, but I also realize that if I got all those things it would be pretty darn bad for the game. I want that teq mini that I’ve done teq probably a hundred times trying to acquire.

The function of RNG is specifically to randomize the accessibility of rewards. Anet isn’t unfamiliar with the concept by this point. They’re very conscious of what rewards they want to tie to specific effort, and what rewards they want to tie to random chance.

The very thing you are complaining about is the very thing they designed the system to do. Encourage you to keep doing it until you get what you want, or give up. When you’re repeating that task over and over, you’re improving content for others. When you give up, you’re improving the prestige value for others.

Whether you agree with rng based exclusivity or not, it is a firm fixture in this game (and many others) for certain items for exactly those two reasons. In this game it is exclusively tied to cosmetic rewards.

I get what you want, but I also get why it is the way it is. I really want that coat too. However I’m also pretty okay with the method of acquisition on a personal level.

I wouldn’t complain if you got your way, but I’m pretty laid back about this sort of stuff in general and cool with it either way. Good luck!

It’s actually pretty great. Completely cosmetic items that are expensive to acquire are fine long term goals that doesn’t lock you out of content.

The only reason to be upset about it is if you only wanted it if it were cheap.

Like legendaries, if you want something bad enough, you’ll generally be prepared to pay the cost.

This is a FESTIVAL item that requires FESTIVAL materials. It is not a legendary and should not be treated like one

It requires a few materials from a recurring festival event. Just like the crossing, and other such weapons released two years ago. You can garner the majority of its components now, and will be able to continue to do so via the TP throughout the year.

Just because something doesn’t have “legendary” slapped on it does not mean it isn’t rare or expensive. This event added several new skins that are quite easy to obtain, as well as returning and new ones that are not. There are many non-legendary items or skins in the game that are extremely costly and difficult to acquire.

It just so happens you want this one and aren’t happy that it wasn’t as easy to obtain as you thought it would be.

I too was very excited when I heard about the new guild halls and was eagerly willing to help out the small guild that I’m in, which is around 2-3 people. To me gathering materials and even having to spend some of my gold to help out was not what my concern was…it was seeing how we needed a minimum of 3 people to do guild mission in order to gain favor.

At least before with influence, you would get some depending on how many people were online and larger guilds could get influence faster than smaller ones….but at least every guild was able to earn something.

I didn’t expect our small guild to grow and expand as fast as larger ones and I wasn’t looking for that but with a minimum requirement its not even allowing us to work our way to getting any favor.

Just take away the minimum “body count” requirement and let all guilds have the opportunity to earn favor.

You can solo roughly half of all pve guild missions. There is no minimum player requirement. If you’re running a smaller than intended guild, set your mission type to PvE and expect to have at least one mission each week you can run successfully.

If you’re currently set to mission type “all” go run the spider cave race. Any player can easily solo that mission. Just run all 15 runs yourself within the very generous time limit. You can fail infinity times and just start it over until you know the course so well you don’t even have to scan for traps any more.

Simple game design. To ensure content has legs, that content needs compelling rewards. The bladed coat box ensures that peple, even years down the line, will have reasons to populate verdant brink.

It’s the same logic that went in to the map rewards system for core tyria (which could still use a little buff IMO) or the orr karma vendors, or the silverwastes stuff, etc. They want to make sure all the content has enough longevity that it doesn’t become totally desolate when new stuff comes out.

If you have to play a specific piece of content to get a specific (optional and cosmetic) thing, it’s much more likely that even years after that content is “old” people will continue to play it, even new people to the game.

they could have just made it cost 1000 airship parts then. ive been playing Verdant brinks non stop since the game launched because i enjoy the map, and while getting multiple maps completed havent seen a bladed box. I have 1,758 bladed gears on me however, and the only piece of that armor i even like is the bladed coat on Charr.

Basically, despite doing the map non stop i cant get the thing i want ^^ I dont see why it wasnt added to the merchant anywho, to get it you have to play the map, right? So years down the road if people want that coat they will have to go out there and do the map anyways, right? you cant get it on the other maps, only that map, so to get it, play the map. Right now though it takes alot of work to get it to tier 4, and getting a box with blues and greens…and more crowbars(i have 400 i dont need more) sucks, it isnt rewarding, and its already gotten a bit tiring trying to organize the events >.<

Also: these threads need to be merged into one thread, theres like 4 of these threads open at the moment.

Yes, but people will be farming parts, not doing the meta event. They designed these maps around doing metas.

Also keep in mind a lot of people are still exploring, doing masteries, claiming halls, etc. Soon that will calm down and I’d wager you’ll start seeing a lot of zone specific LFGs for stuff like this.

Unlike the silverwastes release, people aren’t all funneled in to one place right now, they have lots of options, and many of those are personal goals that seem more achievable so people are going after those first. When that calms down a bit, though, many will be in the same position you’re in “man, I want that bladed chest” and they’ll start hammering LFG and organizing around it.

People also said triple trouble or teq would be totally dead by now, but people run teq every day in multiple instances, and every time TT rolls around there is usually at least one zone LFG.

I remember reading that “small guilds will be respected” when they were talking about the Hot guildhalls…

Now I’m thinking “wow if that wasn’t just like a campaign promise in the end.”

They actually are respected quite well.

Unless your definition of a small “guild” is less than a party’s worth of people, which is not anet’s (or most people’s) definition of a guild.

As a guy that runs a small guild I’m pretty happy with the whole thing.

Well obviously others feel differently…including myself.

You have a right to your opinion, sure, but the system as is can still be completely solo’d over time with the single exception being the actual guild hall claim, which you only ever have to do one time.

I don’t see how that’s overly penalizing even personal bank guilds. You can still totally use content and features designed for 5+ players. You can still gain favor, build up the guild hall, etc. It’s going to take longer, and some weeks you may roll guild missions you can’t solo and lose out on favor that week, but it’s really not a huge deal. more people working together is more efficient, and that’s totally intended behavior because guild systems are designed, specifically, to add content for guilds, which are defined by anet as assemblies of players larger than a single group.

Right. Point is, it would be weird to do collection upgrades for gem store items, and weird to do them for items no longer obtainable, but totally cool to do collection upgrades for stuff you can acquire through normal play.

However, wing skins seem to be to anet like outfits. Almost a completely gem store based system. IDK if they’d want to break that paradigm from either a financial or design standpoint.

I liked the mechanics of the fight, but I, too was thinking “you know, if I was an ancient elder dragon and I could choose my own image to fight in a mindscape, I would have made myself way bigger and scarier.”

Like, at least the level of the shadow of the dragon.

I get that they had specific mechanics in mind that required a smaller target that could move around the place, but it would have been better if, say, “Big mordremoth” was flying around the arena and delivering the AoEs, responsible for destroying the platform section, responsible for tossing stuff at you during the flying bits, and “Mind of mordremoth” was the guy on the platform as the thing you phsycially attack, and he did his little claw swipes and teleport things.

Fight would have been mostly the same, but it would have felt like a much larger entity.

LS3

HoT is kind of a “Multiple season pass” to the story, they decided to make the release basically a complete season (along with all the new maps and features) and pace the story out with live updates, just like the raids.

The original story was built more as a “boxed set” because they’ hadn’t nailed down this idea of living world as solo instance story progression. So, the new model they came up with in LS2, they basically decided that having a season finale where we lobotomize mordremoth was a good value point for the expansion’s release, and the next season (or two or however many) are kind of just ongoing parts of that story (for free like LS2 of course) alongside new map releases and other such things.

Basically, think of how Launch release paid for the story and 2 LS seasons. They didn’t know they were gonna use the LS as a personal story extension at the time (remember the original LS stuff being very “well this has to happen alongside the living story, wait no it doesn’t, wait yes it does”) but as of now they’re firmly fixed on the living story being extensions of the personal story, so it makes sense.

I would have liked a “roll credits” scene though. For every season finale even.

Issue with decorations.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

PopeUrban.2578

So, two things.

1: I recall on stream there was some key combo to rotate a decoration in place before plopping it down, but I can’t seem to do that. I have to position my character in all sorts of interesting places to rotate things.

2: You can’t enter decoration mode without at least one decortion in the guild’s inventory. The current workaround I’m using is keeping a single pumpkin there, but there really should be a way to get in to decorate mode so you can delete/move stuff even if there’s nothing in your guild’s decoration inventory. I don’t know how long this pumpkin can hold out!

Am I just missing something obvious, or are these legit design oversights?

I think it has a lot to do with the layout. For just getting around to all your services, Hollow is just more convenient.

I mean jump pads are cool and all, but when I just want to go between two buildings I’d like to just walk.

Also, it’s just so… shiny!

Precipice IS cool looking, and a great place to visit (and indeed the two guilds we teamed up with for hall claiming day both took it wheras we took hollow) I just wouldn’t want to live there. Sorry Link

Guild Hall account bank

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

PopeUrban.2578

Every guild bank is also an account bank. use the dropdown at the top left to switch it from inventory to account vault.

You won’t be able to access your matrials this way, however, and will have to wait until you’ve completed the scribing station to access your materials from within the hall.

As for crafting/mystic forge, there is no indication anet wants to make these avaliable in the guild hall as they want people to still have reasons to go to LA. However, it’s super easy to get commendations now that guild missions can be endlessly repeated without any penalty for failure, so I’d reccommend spending commendations on portable crafting stations if you want, and designating an area of the hall for crafting.

Those stations stay up for an hour, and you can earn 2ish per week, so if you’re frugal with your crafting time they should allow you to get a lot done there.

The mystic forge access you can get (eventually, at high cost) by gambling ectos for the inventory one.

Sadly, you’ll still need gem store tradepost guys or to hit a real traepost to get your money or items out of there.

If you have 4 people online, you have enough people to claim a guild hall.

I have successfully done a run with 3 people, though it was extremely close on the dps timers so we had to use some consumables.

At less than 8 people, it will only ever spawn one head to kill in phase 1, and the 9 minutes it gives you to kill the one end boss you get with that number is easily achievable with 4 people.

You may have to reroll it a few times and get lucky with where the heads spawn, as with that few people if the next head spawns o the other side of the map you may not have time to run and DPS everything down, but with a good roll, heads can spawn within like 100 feet of each other. I’ve even seen them spawn back in the same location as the previous head.

As for guild missions, you’ll need 3 people to do the pvp and wvw ones, but for the pve ones you can simply piggyback on other guilds doing them (and there will be a lot of other guilds doing them right after reset) Many of them are even soloable (guild race, expedition) and in the new system you don’t have to get past the bounty farming stage to do those, just wait for them to pop up.

It costs nothing to fail so you can just retry those missions until you happen to have another guild nearby also doing the same one. It will be harder (and it should be with less people) but it is not impossible by any means.

Congrats, I honestly did not know you can capture a guild hall with 4 people.

I would not reccommend it TBH. I had a much better time with two other guilds and a 6-8 man crew, but someone was light and asked for help and we tried it with the 4 people avaliable at the time.

If you would like help, however, I personally as well as possibly any guildmates that happen to be on are generally willing to help people claim. It’s good to make friends

False.

Mission types are not tied to any unlocks at all any more.

Click the little gear icon at the top of the mission window if you’d like to only receive a specific type of mission (wvw, pvp, or pve) and at the next reset and from there on you will only be given that type of mission.

Influence worked fine as it was. There was no need to replace it with two other currencies that are not only more annoying to get, but can’t even be gotten on your own now.

Influence was not fine. It awarded population, logins, and gold more than it rewarded actually playing together.

The favor system rewards actually playing the game with your guild.

They specifically made this change to make guild content more accessible and rewarding to guilds, and less accessible or just plain impossible for solo players that want to gain guild benefits without actually having a guild.

That said, you can get favor solo. many of the pve missions are totally soloable. In fact, this week’s medium difficulty race can easily be done alone, and will give you more than enough favor to claim a hall.

You will need two or more allies to claim the hall itself based purely on DPS check timers, and you’ll need extremely good RNG, but if you’re interested in spending gold, I bet you could pay someone to help you, or you know, be friendly and just ask for a little help for this one time thing you’ll only ever have to do once.

Could we now potentially implement another way to earn the dungeon-only runes such as nightmare or aristocrat runes or make them a lot cheaper to get? with hot hitting as well as the dungeon nerf im having a hard time finding people to do dungeons now…

You can acquire them from pvp reward tracks or from tossing other runes in the mystic forge.

However, every dungeon has at least one soloable path if you really don’t have enough friends to help you run the dungeons.

God Backpack Gliders (suggestion)

We already have some God themed backpacks:
- Shadow of Grenth http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadow_of_Grenth
- Light of Dwayna http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Light_of_Dwayna
- Chaos of Lyssa http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chaos_of_Lyssa

certainly, we miss Balthazar, Kormir and Melandru.

There is a balthazar packpack. It is acquired from an sPvP track.

A melandru pack was added as part of supply line mastery vendors.

But yeah, expect to pay gets for matching wings, since unlike the matched gliders we have now they’d actually be entirely new models in stead of some slight alterations of the existing backpack models.

Other, easier glider skins from existing packs:

Wings of the sunless
Holographic dragon wings
Decorative molten jetpack
Invisible glider? (I’d really like this one)

Or perhaps they could be collections? they could require the backpack, the gift of gliding, etc.

It would be cool, but anet pretty much already cast a die on gliders. Like outfits, all gliders skins come from the gem store in one way or the other. This is why I highly doubt the items I listed will get a glider conversion, as they were content rewards rather than gem store purchases.

But hey, they could suprise us. After all they did put an outfit on halloween vendors, which is breaking with the normal model for outfits.

That said I highly doubt they would ever use a gem store item like the god packs as part of a collection. Collections are entirely made up of objects found ingame because they award achievement points and are usually intended as a sort of content.

No, not the god weapon/armor packs, i’m talking about the current backpacks, which are certainly attainable in game (in fact that’s the only way to get them).

I could see them making them gliders with a collection in that case for half, but it doesn’t seem worth the effort for the items that are no longer obtainable. People would complain like crazy that they made these new glider skin collections that they can’t do.

I’m torn on this. On one hand I like that certain skins are “retired” and no longer obtainable as they were linked to time limited events. On the other hand I’d like to see some of those with a glider conversion.

Maybe grant the unobtainable ones for free (so if you have a jetpack you get the free glider like with the wings) and the ones you can still get as collections?

Fix the game for multiple monitors

Currently gw2 lacks some real basic modern game features such as borderless window (I can’t decide which monitor the game is on like any other game with real borderless window) and constrain cursor that make this game annoying as hell to play with a multiple monitor setup. Does anet have any plans to fix this ever? Thanks for your attention fam XD

I use borderless window just fine. It opens borderless windowed on my main display, and I can easily move the cursor from the GW2 window over to the other display. The cursor doesn’t move between displays when I have RMB held down to mouslook with it. It actually stays exactly where it was, so when I release it’s exactly where I left it.

What is the problem you’re having? Like, you have a 3 monitor setup and want to do a super widescreen or something?

Entering decoration mode without decorations?

So we got our hall yesterday, I laid out our legacy statues, a few pumpkins, etc.

Today, I decided I want to move a pumpkin, which means I need to enter decoration mode in order to delete it.

I looked all over the options and UIs, and I can’t find a way to enter decorate mode without having at least one decoration in the guild’s inventory.

Am I missing something incredibly obvious because I’m dumb, or is this a design oversight?

Also, I remember on stream there being some sort of key combination to rotate decorations in place before placing them, but I can’t for the life of me find it, and have been just positioning my character in weird ways to get the proper rotations.

Am I just dumb or are these things actually impossible?

Vague metacritic reviews and HoT feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: PopeUrban.2578

PopeUrban.2578

Never trust any MMO review if it comes out earlier than two months after product launch, good or bad. Reviewers that got internal copies are playing things with accelerated characters, and often playing with content and systems that are radically altered in that time frame.

Honestly, if you rely on reviews and metacritic scores to determine whether to purchase entertainment content, you’re doing it wrong anyway. Reception of entertainment products is highly subjective. There are games, movies, or books that are pretty much unversally hates, but those offerings still have core groups of diehard fans.

If you’re not prepared to not like a piece of entertainment, you should probably not spend money on it. There is always a chance you’ll hate something with glowing reviews, or love something which is universally accepted as horrible.

If you can’t afford buying entertainment you may end up hating, you should probably be spending that money on something more important to your life.

Users that review the game five days after launch are still in the “honeymoon period” or the “adjustment to changes” period.

A good case here is the 400>250 hero points change., or the removal of itzel 4 requirement from the story. Those reviews people wrote yesterday are all completely invalid in many cases, even the vague ones.

Are there still benefits to representing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PopeUrban.2578

PopeUrban.2578

It’s actually flipped around now.

In stead of you repping passively helping the guild, repping a guild with passive bonus unlocks helps you.

If your guild has, for instance, the 15% waypoint cost reduction, you need to be repping to get it.

The new system is about rewarding guilds primarily for playing and consciously doing things together (like guild missions, or donating resources) rather than passively awarding guilds just for having people log on or rep.

In turn, those guild tags are much more about benefitting from what you put in to the guild, at more effort and cost, than having the tags benefit the guild at little to no effort or cost.

TLDR: you used to rep so you could help the guild. Now you rep because the guild helps you.

I’m with Dakheus for the long run, but i would go futher. Make them another set of armor/weapons with the exact same look, but like level 1. Not a good idea for new players with low transmutation charge. But any vet will have almost infinite of those so. Next time he is online, bring him in a fractal or one of the last map of HoT. It probably gonna take some time before he find the reason why his damage was so bad all this time.

You can also do the same with his amulet in PvP. If he play a marauder character, just give him a condition damage amulet. My friend did that mistake by his own and we still tease him one year later

Give him a mini with annoying sound and boost his effect sound to the max. Super Assassin would be the best, but it’s account bound. Mini Ho-Ho-Tron is a good choice and it doesn’t cost much.

Remember you can buy/gift transmute charges, so if you really didn’t want to be a jerk about it, figure out how many transmutes you’d need to do the white set, gift buy him exactly that many, then do it.

He’ll have exactly as many transmute charges as he had before.

If he doesn’t have a personal bank guild, you can even make it a present in disguise.

Found a new guild with that character named “Gotcha” or some other message, and store ans many high value non-bound items as you can in its guild bank, then set his representation back to his original guild.

See, what happenned was your method of grinding gold was out of line with arenanet’s intended method of play.

They made a change to prevent the most efficient means of earning gold from totally ecplising all other means.

They’re attempting to equalize income so that no matter what you do, you’re gaining roughly similar amounts of money, and the unique rewards from picking different types of content come in the form of cosmetics.

They want people to run dungeons because they want dungeon skins, fractals because they want fractal skins, HoT zones because they want HoT skins, and raids because they want raid skins, and they want all of those people, doing whatever content they find most fun, to be making roughly similar amounts of gold to buy the things they aren’t earning on their own.
