EA has always been a useless trait for any purpose other than when team is friends/guildmates all collectively going for record speedclears and FGSing. It’s always been trash, but people will be people.
I’d like FotM a lot more if they didn’t force you to play as a charr/inquest and get worse rewards than AC p1.
Nowadays I just can’t justify doing them anymore. Sure they were fun back the first few times doing them but after having done everything so many times there’s just no motivation to do them for anything but rewards or off-map exploration.
I could perhaps try mountain goating in snowblind fractal after the elemental is destroyed. That could be fun!
Agreed, it should be cleared up. When I was first learning the game I remember having questions about battle standard’s description too.
They have a completely different team than the one that worked on GW1.
A shame :/
Either kick them, or leave the group.
They should not be nerfing anyone. They should be buffing other classes instead. Damage was fine pre-ferocity.
Even right now warriors have lower DPS than guardians.
After the patch, the only two classes that will have lower DPS than warrior will be ranger and necro.
And just think… people are still saying warriors are OP. It’s so bizarre.
Not only will this help to balance PvP, WvW but PvE as well (E.g. Warrior’s rushing past all mobs in Arrah).
You are aware of the fact that the mobs that warriors are rushing past are intended to be skipped, yes?
Also you are aware of the fact that unless a warrior has sword, warhorn, and GS + bull’s charge equipped, a thief is pretty much just as mobile with shortbow and can stealth? Should they be nerfed even more for PvE then lol?
Warriors also still have to sacrifice to be super mobile in WvW and PvP. If they bring GS, they have a weapon that’s generally terrible to bring unless fighting amateurs. If they don’t bring a GS, their mobility is nothing special. There’s a solid tradeoff for it and warriors have been getting nerfed to oblivion the past few patches. There’s no reason to demand more, unless you want the class to be terrible.
I discourage phalanx strength because of how massive of a loss the warrior has to make for it. Not only is it a huge personal DPS loss, but a single ele is capable of providing might that lasts longer without loss in damage and can provide fury. Just as many others will say that it’s wise to take at a warrior for all dungeons, it’s wise to take at least one ele as well, if not more important.
If you can’t get an ele when pugging, chances are it’s going to be a sluggish pug anyways. The way I see it is if you feel that you’d have to resort to PS, just… leave. Either that, or you would be better off running with a 65003 build and being self-reliant. Afterall, you don’t necessarily know if the people in your group are using toughness/vitality/healing power attributes in their gear or bizarre traits; you have no way of knowing for sure whether or not you’re sacrificing all of your own DPS for a good cause. If they don’t dodge/don’t block and die and you’re left alone or with 1 other, then what?
Because of that, that’s why I don’t consider EA ever worth taking as I’ll never under any condition bring PS, so I won’t have trait points on the tactics line.

Is that with 3 assassin pieces? I’m assuming so, and assuming you aren’t using a utility nourishment like maintenance oil or whatever.
Another problem in Arah, albeit a less serious of one:
-“Dwayna’s Tear” occasionally has no effect when thrown onto someone. Sometimes I find myself throwing even more than two onto someone or myself without being able to cleanse the petrification. No idea what causes it to bug.
I’m weird because I don’t mind the living story. It’s there, it’s something to do, it’s ok. But for it to take up the majority of resources and prevent development of real dungeon content is just yeh… horrid. That’s what makes me dislike the LS.
This is how I feel about it.
I would genuinely enjoy LS as side content along with other things. It’s too small.
Why not just use instant ground targeting like me?
Well, I feel like having a meta warrior with less damaging stats is far more helpful than a berserker shout heal one. They’ll end up in berserker anyway, it’s just a matter of time. It may be a placebo, since that toughness/healing power gained won’t help against big attacks, but if a new player feel better by playing a sub optimal stat and don’t try to enforce this playstyle onto others, as opposed to the " I’m a healer" crowd, all power ( and prec, and ferocity) to them. The dps loss of going knight 6/5/0/0/3 is lower than going berserker 2/0/6/6/0, anyway.
PS: not trying to make a point or anything, just giving thoughts about why going knight is acceptable when learning.
I said nothing about shoutheals. The point I was making is that a warrior in 65003 with Zealot will out-DPS a 65003 in Knight.
I still don’t see the point in using Knight over Berserker even when learning because of the negligible impact that toughness and vitality have against bosses in dungeons by comparison to the offensive attributes.
I understand the logic behind the decision made to start out in it, dw… but in actual practice it’s not as helpful as a lot of people have claimed.
I’m currently:
2578 power
2311 precision
895 ferocity
70% critical chance
210% critical damage
with truffle steak nourishment (+100 power +70 precision) and without might, fury, or banners.
I just activated banner + for great justice + signet of rage and took a picture here to make it easier on myself: http://puu.sh/blEoW.png
Let me clarify something in my previous post.
What I was intending to get at is that aside from Zealot, every other stat combo besides Assassin gives a rather large loss in DPS when compared to Berserker on a warrior. Berserker is still the best overall, but these two are the next best options. For a warrior, Zealot stands out as being on top of Knight big time.
To those of you pointing out the little gain from the healing power, I agree with you. My general mentality is that it’s simply not worth using other stat combos in PvE.
If Knight had power as its major attribute rather than toughness, then I’d view it as a solid option. To have both power and precision as minor attributes results in a really really large DPS loss when compared to Berserker.
It’s especially worth considering how negligible the gain is from vitality and toughness in PvE. Consider how many bosses hit slowly with very telegraphed attacks that deal a sizable amount of damage… you’d need to stack loads of toughness just to make the difference of being able to tank 1 more attack without evading/blocking. Does that really seem worth it?
The answer to me is an obvious no, but each to his/her own.
Forgot to mention that I refuse to join groups that have AP requirements on them. To me, that is a clear indicator of ineptitude because they think that AP == skill in dungeons.
You won’t get banned, but please please please take your business to the people that don’t exploit! The ones cheating don’t deserve the money and steal business from the legitimate sellers.
You can check to see if Lupicus is skipped by looking in the center of the map and if there’s a red star there instead of “Pantheon Waypoint,” then they skipped the boss. If they skip it, just leave (or request your money back first).
If someone completes the dungeon while you are attempting to selling it, we are not going to take action against that person. If you invite them into your group or list the group via LFG, they are well within their right to finish the dungeon if you decide to leave the boss at 1%.
Even if they’re screwing over other players? If they’re trolling the seller? When are you going to do something about it? Is the only way that you’re going to take action is if someone is “exploiting” the run?
Reread what he said. They are never going to do anything about it. Dungeons listed via LFG that people are trying to sell that are then completed by 1 or more of the people who join before the seller was “ready” is not an infraction of any possible kind. People join dungeon groups to complete dungeons. Anet doesn’t see people joining a dungeon group and then finishing said dungeon as “screwing over” the other members of the group. Sell at your own risk has been the policy since day one when selling started to become popular. Anet allows it because it’s not actually an exploit, but if you get screwed out of money for a botched sale, it’s your own kitten problem.
Yeah well said.
I think it would be a poor decision for them to encourage people to sell dungeon runs anyways because it not only will increase the occurrences of people kicking others in pug teams to sell the slots (hasn’t happenened to me before and probably won’t ever -knock on wood-), but it’s kind of against the intended purpose of dungeon rewards to begin with. You’re supposed to actually do the dungeons. Assisting people and/or encouraging them to sell dungeon paths contradicts it.
It’s great that they allow it, but bad that they don’t have a good way of handling people that exploit the paths and sell them. Those noobs don’t deserve to reap benefits of something they cheated to complete.
Zealot is way better than Knight is, because it has power as the main attribute. I suggest never to go for Knight.
To answer your question, OP, yes it makes a substantial difference in DPS to go with anything other than berserker. If you must make sure that the stat combo has power as the main attribute and that one of the minor attributes is either precision or ferocity (or both). Since the only two stat combos available that fit this category are Berserker and Zealot, that leaves you with just these two to use unless you want to take a much larger loss in DPS.
Some people tend to go for Soldier, but please take my word for it that it is a huge, huge mistake. It may be fine to use in WvW, but you’ll hit like a wet noodle in PvE by comparison with Berserker.

I’m guessing you maybe missed this part:
“(with exceptions depending on whether or not a certain utility speeds things up, for example immobilizing legendary shoggroth in Arah P1 or a warrior using ‘Fear Me!’ on sparky/slick in Aetherpath).”
It’s not entirely what you were referring to, but just pointing out that I did mention that there are exceptions. :P
Regardless of what the composition is, when it comes to dungeons it’s always suboptimal to not be geared for full-DPS.
Perhaps you’re not referring to only dungeons, I don’t know… but I’m guessing you mean open world PvE or something. In that case, then yeah you would be correct.

I would like for Magecrusher (path 3) to have more of a tell for his Auto Attack. In melee, it’s an insta-cast with a very small animation that hits in AoE like a truck. Every other boss that has an attack that hits like that has a relatively obvious animation (even lupi’s kick has a distinct animation, and he’s 60 ft tall). I would humbly request that either his character model be increased in size or his animation for his auto-attack be slowed down or given a more obvious tell to bring it into line with the other legendary bosses in arah.
Sorry but I disagree.
His projectile attacks having a longer animation would make this encounter a literal AFK fest. It needs to have some threatening attacks otherwise it’s just a bag of HP like berserker abom (which I personally think deserves a charge-like attack added to his absurdly small array of skills like the one those elite abom guards have).
Bosses like this with no tell for the animation are fine. Unless you get absurd RNG where he does the attack 6+ times b2b, you generally have a lot of time for endurance to restore/cooldowns to wear off while he does all of his “charge” animations to spawn more AoEs.
I rarely do anything besides Arah because everything else feels arduous to the point of it feeling like slavework instead of having any sort of fun, that includes FotM. I rarely do FotM and if I do it’s because I’m done with all Arah dailies and was asked by a friend/friends.
The only pugging I bother with is Arah, which is awesome because I get to do jumping puzzles while I wait for them to stop repeatedly failing on trash skips. I try to get superbad pugs if at all possible, because it means moar goating for me.
Because many encounters found in dungeons don’t actually require you to use certain gear types (or gear at all, for that matter) in an effort to make it so that everyone can play how they want, it results in literally everything that isn’t full-out DPS redundant (with exceptions depending on whether or not a certain utility speeds things up, for example immobilizing legendary shoggroth in Arah P1 or a warrior using ‘Fear Me!’ on sparky/slick in Aetherpath).
Everything is viable, but there’s always a best way to go about something. There’s no way around this fact — the faster you complete the objective, the more efficient you are. The outcome of a dungeon is a reward at the end of a path, rather than dispersed throughout it. This coupled with the fact that there is an obsession with completing content only once per day results in people wanting to optimize their use of time.
After the first few times running paths, they will start to feel arduous. Many players aren’t interested in putting up with people using obviously inferior setups and will simply refuse to play with people that don’t share a similar mindset. To them, it’s nothing short of annoying to know that no matter what, that person has no chance of performing as well as they could be with the setup that they know is superior and that’s why it’s pointless.
If you think that people not wanting to have anything to do with people that use inferior setups is a “disease”, then consider this!
Perhaps those same people think it is people like you that are “diseased.”
Different tastes. If you have a problem with it, find like-minded players just like they do.
As a solo player, Miku, you’ll love Archeage. Nothing like a game where you have marshal the entire efforts of a 100 man guild for a month to get one set of end game armor with the right stats. Enjoy! ( ?° ?? ?°)
I got to level 19 in the last closed beta event. I enjoyed myself but I found it kind of clunky. GW2’s combat is vastly superior, but this game doesn’t seem to be as easy as GW2 so that’s nice.
The stuff they’re changing I didn’t find confusing.
Some of the stuff I struggled with early on was figuring out what each attribute did/what it affected, how to change weapons, where to look for in the UI to find what I wanted/needed, what the icons on my map represented, etc.
Overall I was overwhelmed with a lot of things that I needed to learn, so what worked for me was focusing on one thing at a time until I understood it, then I moved on to the next.
Downed states/traits were the least of my concerns. I actually didn’t even think to use trait points until I had at least 10 of them, which I then used all in strength (warrior) as it seemed like the logical choice to me.
Don’t listen to the others about vitality/toughness. What you need to be focusing on is
a) timing your dodges/interrupt skills on your weapons
b) learn and get used to blasting yourself might, as it’s good burst and increases the damage of all of your attacks with each blast.
Trust me, you will find that there is more to be gained by maximizing your output rather than trying to minimize input with passive stats.
Also keep in mind— there is essentially no consequence on this game for deaths as it is, so take advantage of that while you are learning to play better! You will eventually learn the attacks of whatever it is that you struggle with.
There’s only AT&T Uverse and TWC here. Both of them have f***ing people down to a science, so I’m out of luck unless Google Fiber makes its way over to my state.
Simple solution: Move. Move for better internet Verizon isn’t there? That’s surprising.
The problem is that service is pretty much identical between all of the competitors here. No matter what you’ll always feel like you’re getting heebed out.
Therefore the only logical conclusion is the provider that offers landline, cable and internet all in one bundle is probably the wiser option.
There’s only AT&T Uverse and TWC here. Both of them have f***ing people down to a science, so I’m out of luck unless Google Fiber makes its way over to my state.
That the way the class should be played. Like most class do with their second weapons set, we should respond to what the game throw at us with the attunement.
I know my Ele would be higher level if it’s was the case, rotation are boring…
I don’t know what you’re on about.
Classes with second weapon sets are intended to utilize their skills in whatever ways they benefit the most with. If you’re only responding with your skills, you’re not in control of the fight. You should be anticipating the enemy, as opposed to just reacting.
I also find it kind of peculiar that you find rotating through all of an ele’s attunements to use different spells boring, especially because it seems like you’re insinuating that camping one attunement and using the same skills over and over again wouldn’t be boring…?
Hmm… lol.
As for the adrenaline nerf I honestly think that it would be perfectly fine if we didn’t lose our adrenaline the moment we left combat.
That way, they wouldn’t be nerfing warriors so hard in PvE. I know that plenty of the people here are strictly PvP players but consider it from the perspective of somebody like me, who doesn’t do PvP. There’s no other viable trait when you have the option of a 15% damage modifier here.
Despite how unhappy I am with the frequent nerfs on warrior, it’s still not as terrible as what they’re doing to elementalists. Such a shame, to destroy burning speed AND burning retreat. What nimrods.
I feel for you, even though I don’t play PvE ever. Anet is not discriminating between PvE and PvP players, and that’s a shame.
Do you think you will be able to subdue the nerf slightly by using Healing Surge/Signet of Fury?
Healing surge not only interrupts combat, but has an aftercast so as long as you use it during combat you will have lower DPS. Signet of Fury is needed for the precision, if you use it then you’ll lose out on DPS there as well (only for the first segment of a fight).
Point is, no matter what way you look at it… DPS nerfs. It’s annoying.
I had on average 200 ping last I remember in NA.
Doesn’t seem worth it to leave so many of my friends just to do jumping puzzles with 100-200 less ping on average.
Besides… Archeage in 3 days anyways
Did you unlock stacking in the gem shop?
Attachments:
I totally agree with OP.
To add to the latency discussion, anything under 300 ping is superb for me. Anything over 400 and it becomes very irritating and difficult to time things properly.
omg that Mr. Mittens deep freeze lol
They need to put diving goggles in super obscure locations for those that love to goat around.
I personally think it’s fine the way that they’re handling this. People that paid for 2 tags still are paying less than people that will have to pay from thereon out, and people that paid for 3 tags didn’t lose anymore money than they initially did anyways.
It’s only a matter of time before good builds and dungeon strategies become more common, then those same bads will be complaining that the dungeons are too easy, even though the good teams will be completing the dungeons 10x faster.
I’m already seeing a growing trend in people that are easily capable of holding their own in Arah paths. I don’t do other dungeons anymore these days, so can’t comment a whole lot on them.
I still get lots of total idiots, but it’s undeniably true that the people pugging Arah paths are collectively improving a lot as time goes by. To be expected.
@OP
“Because your buffing there sustain even more..
There burst is already ridiculous high!”
you’re*, their*
“And before you all say, yeah but there burst is all so easy to see.
Your right, but the pressure they can do is just insane so after some dodging around they will burst you down.”
their*, you’re*
“Guardian: Elusive power = 10% more damage when endurance issnt full
Warrior: Stick and Move = 3% more damage when endurance issnt full”
isn’t*, isn’t*
“Why issnt this 7%? because its a major Adept trait.. or even 5% because most of those major adept traits are often only 5%”
isn’t*
-cringefest-
I wish devs would mountain goat with me
Lmao at the “aw why does he target me every time!” I know how that feels all too well.
9/10 she’s cute, and she’s got the look of nobility. Also I love women in short skirts xD, and love dem bunny ears as well
Here’s my in-game wife, Camilla Songhaven.
I like it but I personally have a strong aversion to hipster glasses. I don’t like them at all and I feel like the picture you posted would look a lot nicer without. 8/10 though!
I so SO agree with OP that they need to stop catering to casuals.
Huh, really? I’ll have to take your word for it. I’m still only up to SE in terms of dungeons. (Finishing off the last path on my characters in the coming weeks, then it’s finally on to CoF!)
Yeah, you’ll just have to take my word for it if you’re only on SE. Arah story is, of course, a joke, but the later story modes you’ll find, are more difficult in some ways than the explorable ones.
new dungeons, adding paths to old dungeons, fixing exploits in Arah without adding invisible walls, adding new maps & areas for level 80 characters, more solo content, etc.
Okay, that’s not 10 words, but at least I pared it down a bit. ^^;;
FTFY
They did add it, they just don’t know that they did.
It goes well with any full zerk condition build on any profession in WvW or pve.
just trow em in your bank and see what builds come around next patch..
Horrible advice.
Just use the ascended gear for the skins to transmute, and use an exotic berserker piece.
Arah feature less stacking and more stealth exploits which make ele equally valid as before this patch.
Lmao, yet another person that thinks using class skillsets are exploits.
Impossible to take this thread seriously based off of this statement.
