Guild Wars 2

It’s LEGENDARY which means it’s across ALL parts of the game.

All you have to do is ask to learn a different from the crafters and then do not finish the one you started. There is no unlearning needed.

I played GW1 for lots of hours and enjoyed it quite a bit.
I have played GW2 also for lots of hours and have also enjoyed it quite a bit.

I knew when I went from GW1 to GW2 it would be different. It would have to be for a major reason – GW1 wasn’t really an MMO but GW2 is an MMO. There is also the fact that technology changes and they can now allow us to do different things like gliding or having (almost) 3D maps, jumping, etc. Things that were not really doable 10 or even 5 yrs ago. I expected pretty much the same lands but that with the difference in time (250 yrs world time) and in technology that some stuff would not be the same. I liked GW1 and still occasionally play it but I also like GW2 for the reason that it is different and continues to evolve. I would not like it if it was static nor do I want it to stay the same. Life changes and I am fine with the game changing when it needs to.

Let’s see … it’s a legendary journey, experience or what ever to get it. No CC needed since I will just gather the mats while I am out and about in the world, eventually I will get what I need just like I did to do Bolt after having the precursor drop from a trash mob a couple of months ago. Why should I do it fast? It’s a journey to enjoy and do only when I feel like it.

In GW1 we had a 4 person guild only, just myself, my husband and 2 friends that played very little. We mostly did the GH just to stop people from asking ALL the time about joining theirs.
Here in GW2 I am part of 2 guilds. Both have some of the same members and it was done that way on purpose for some extra things. So there is no problem from anyone about the 2 guilds.

What I do has no impact on you so why should you care how many guilds I am in or rep? None of them are any that you are in …..

I think he means the story. Honestly I have never understood rushing thru a game and I have been playing online games since the BBS (bulletin board system) days.

I am having fun. Not rushing, just seeing everything and playing and still have not gotten out of the first map. Lots to see and do.

I have been playing for 3 yrs, since Beta, and I have yet to run out of things to do to get gold. I have so much gold I am not sure what I want to do with it. I have only done the story part on 2 dungeons, haven’t bothered with the others yet. I just keep playing the game in what ever area I want and the gold just comes with the fun.

Hit the ALT key and it will show up.

I bought the $100 Ultimate edition and have had no regrets at all. Been having a blast both in HoT and doing Halloween stuff since it started. Only 1 glitch so far and that easily fixed by going out of the instance and starting it over. The instance itself only took 20 mins to do anyway so no real loss of time for my husband and I.

We were playing late last nite (11pst) in VB and my other halfs mini got put away by the game and the msg flashed – Pop too high, minis are hidden – Every time we’ve gone in to the HoT areas it’s been packed with people.

There were so many people on late last nite (11pm pst) that they hid the minis in VB until my other half got off the game, lol. I really don’t see why people are saying they are empty.

Some love it and some hate it. No one can decide but you if you like it. Watch some youtube videos of some people from both sides of the coin to see whats there and what they say. It may help you.

EDIT: I do have it. I bought the Ultimate version for $100. I am having a blast with it. I knew going in that there would be unlocking of WPs, HPs and MPs.

I play pretty much every day. Some days are only an hour and some are 4 to 8 hours. All depends on what else we are doing in real life.
Like this past weekend we had an appt. on Friday at the dentist and then a stage combat workshop to do. (got about 3 hours in)
Then on Saturday another stage combat workshop for a different group of people and then a slate filming and then a show at 2pm to preform (Winnie the Pooh) and then a bday party to go to (got in about an hour)
Then on Sunday we had a dance class for my other half and then helping and teaching some quick stage combat too for a run way show for some models and some scenes to film for an audition and then another performance at 6pm for the show (Winnie the Pooh) (got in about 2 hours)
And then today I have gotten in about 3 hours so far, we will play more tonite after we have a meeting with another director about another show coming up (Peter Pan)

Masteries are account bound = do them once and then you do not have to do them again.

Hero Points are char bound = you have to do them again and again for every char you have. This is how is done also in Tyria anyway.

I am not seeing any of that. I am having a blast just playing and upping the masteries with no grinding or anything.

Check your options. They changed some stuff so that those that don’t want to see it don’t have to, it was QOL thing that was asked for. You may need to click something in your options.

There are ways to get more MP in Tyria. Check your achievement’s tab. It shows you different things to do to get more AP and MP.

They are running around. I have seen them myself. If I remember right they are over by the bank / portal areas.

Not sure what game you are playing but I have not had to grind in 3 yrs and I have been playing the expansion just fine with no grinding and getting lots of xp to get the masteries up.

I love the expansion. Just playing normal and I enjoying getting the xp for masteries.

I am having a blast. Great time with the expansion and Halloween!!! Love the new stuff.

I am not seeing any grinding at all. I am just playing the game and having fun in both HoT and Tyria getting lots of XP for masteries.

They have already said that they cannot add gliding to the Tyria maps. It has to do with several things including the way the maps were made and it would also make some things that are supposed to be somewhat hard then really easy.

Grinding? What grinding are you talking about? This expansion has been a blast so far. Playing the game is getting me xp without even thinking about it. So many different things to do and see …. I keep getting upped without realizing it. There has been no grinding at all needed.

I am not “driven from HoT” at all. I am having a blast. I like it quite a bit actually. I have nothing yet that makes me not like it.

I am having fun with the expansion …. BUT I cannot tell you that you will, you may not. I did buy the Ultimate version of the expansion and have no regrets at all. Only you can decide to spend more money on this game or not.

Been playing since Beta 3 yrs ago. I have map completion for vanilla GW2. I have NEVER been bored in any map.

You can get HP’s from playing WvW by the way ….. Just playing the part you like nets you HP’s from the PvE part of the game ……

Armour can only be found in game, the Trading Post will not have armour available for gems. It will only have outfits. That was decided a long time ago.

I never thought you would be able to farm in there to get the masteries. I am not sure why people would have thought you could. Experience in there comes so fast and it would have made the mastery lines so fricken easy to be ridiculous.

Events have more xp. As you are traveling around the map do every event that pops up.

Wow some of you are talking about the Elite specs and some are talking about masteries ……

Elite specs (aka Hero Points) are done on a per char basis, which means if you have multiple chars then you need to do them again for each char. Been this way since the game started by the way.

Masteries are done by account, which means that once you do it on one char than that mastery is done for all chars.

We also have a multitude of things to still get ready for our next show (Peter Pan) that auditions aren’t even for until Nov 14 & 15 ……… busy, busy, busy …… games are when we can fit them in.

Oh, another thing that has just came up with taking time from gaming, my husband is also choreographing a staff fight with a 10yr old and 2 14yr olds for a holiday show … that now has taken up Tues. and Thur. nights for the next few weeks …

Expensive? What are you talking about? No money spent on any crafting I have done and with just harvesting everything I come across I have done 500 on some and 400 and higher on the others.

Let’s see … I already got all the traits so far unlocked just from getting to level 80, then I got all those other points from getting map completion … I may only need 1 or 2 more hero points to get the elites …. Not bad ANet … Like it a lot.

There are still some looming concerns and unanswered questions that could certainly sway my decision to stay into a decision to leave. Mostly regarding how core game changes like map rewards/masteries are being handled for those not buying HoT. If those things are locked behind the expansion paywall, I don’t see myself staying around as a second-class player.

Well, they have already said that only those that bought HoT will get the map rewards and masteries. Expansions add to the game and only those that buy the expansions get the additions. It has always been that way for expansions for every other game – MMO or otherwise – so I am not sure why you think it might be different with this game.

No, the completed precursor they are talking about is the NEW one. The NEW ones use the NEW method. The OLD ones will still use the OLD method and ONLY the OLD method.
The devs have mentioned that time and again in several streams and notes.

I find them all amusing and fun to go for.

ANet has been to TwitchCon, PAX and a host of other conventions where gamers are. There are quite a few that just don’t go into brick and mortar game stores that much anymore.
